Silk vanishes into the fog of the swamp, much to the relief of your men. You are left alone with them, huddled around you as if you were some sort of lucky charm against the Wyld's influence."...Can we trust her, boss?""What do we do now?""Can you make sense of those directions?""Are we going to follow them?"You breathe deeply, clear your mind, and try thinking. You're pretty sure that the oath Silk agreed to leaves her no obvious way to harm you or others, but it comes with its own problems: you are supposed to protect her from your own allies to the best of your abilities.Of course, since she's travelling on her own and you're somewhere entirely else, that means you don't have a lot you can do to cover for her. You assume she meant that part of the deal in case things happen while you're present. You can't exactly help her while she's not around, can she? She's probably fleeing the swamp right now. You guess. You look at the trail blazed by Tia, mostly by cutting the spiny, skeletal trees of the swamp in two.Silk said that following it, you'd end at her "freehold", whatever that is. You imagine a fortress or something. And that apparently Tia is currently wrecking it. Girl's getting busy. From there, she explained to you how to reach the fortress of this Tarien Dorian, the Prince of the Swamp. Apparently it involves following a red road and reaching a "Starleaf Tree", which has a "guardian".You miss Creation already, and you're barely into the Wyld's Bordermarches.>Follow Tia's trail (hurry up)>Follow Tia's trail (move carefully)>Send scouts to explore around and ahead>Follow Silk>Try and find your way back to the ship

>Who are we?Maka, an exiled noble recently Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. She's in the western city of Tianna as a guest of queen Amata (DB), an old friend. Abyssals are targeting the city for conquest, Lintha pirates have infiltrated it with spies and agents, and half the island is controlled by paranoid Lunars. Fun times. After a rather rough day of dealing with a particularly tricky fae, Tia left your side to go and trash the Wyld zone you're trying to clean up, on her own. Following her trail, you've stumbled into Silk, a fleeing fae who agreed to not harm anyone as long as you do the same, and defend her in case one of your allies decides to hurt her. She also gave you directions for Tia and for her (former, it seems) boss.>Solar? Zenith? >>31034519>a fleeing fae who agreed to not harm anyone as long as you do the sameNot strictly true, and details matter with the fae, so reposting what we swore from last thread. What we swore, verbatim:>You sigh tiredly. "...And I swear that I will defend you from my allies, like we agreed, as long as your side of the oath is kept."The "defend you" gives us some leeway to only defend her personage, the "like we agreed" bit refers to:>"I and my associates will not harm you and your associates, and you and your associates will not harm me and my associates, as long as I remain in this swamp and for five days after I've left. When I leave, I will spend those five days entirely travelling away from this island to the best of my abilities, and will never return afterwards."Question in my mind is what defines 'associates' to her and us?Posting this as a reminder for those who can't remember or don't want to search the archives. Also, a request of my fellow anons, keep discussions that are not relevant to the quest and thread where it is at, for after the thread is concluded, you can debate all you like after that.
>>31034599None's of it's binding.Creation can't see into the Wyld, so the fae is just assuming that: A) Maka is a stupid wench (not untrue) B) that's she retardedly honest/honorable (also not totally untrue)But, of course, as far as Maka knows it's binding for a thousand lifetimes.
Wow, no wonder I'm never here for these threads.Follow Tia's trail quickly. Who knows what mischief she might get herself into alone.
>>31034610>But, of course, as far as Maka knows it's binding for a thousand lifetimes.Maka has IPP up, she knows she's not magically bound to anything. On her part, the oath is upheld only by her own honor (and the fact that, if you break it, Silk is no longer bound by the same oath).>>31034599>Question in my mind is what defines 'associates' to her and us?Your associates would be the people associated to you: the pirates, Samiel, and the Three Rivers. Her associates, since she's parting ways with Tarien Dorian, would be just the hobgoblin serving her.
>>31034654It wouldn't be a shaping effect though, wouldn't it? Although I guess the other option is Fate/Destiny effect and the whole >out of creation thing ruins that. You can't IPP away an Eclipse or Moonshadow oath, for instance.Unless you can, and I've forgotten.
>>31034670>You can't IPP away an Eclipse or Moonshadow oath, for instance. You can't, but an eclipse oath is always obvious. In general fair folk in the Wyld work with shaping. Maka didn't feel any shaping happen and didn't feel anything obviously oath-like happening to her, so she knows that there's no fair folk magic binding her.Of course the oath could have been woven in the wyld itself and if she breaks it it summons fifty billion godzillas. that wouldn't be shaping so it wouldn't count and she wouldn't know. All Maka knows is that she wasn't affected by any effect when the oath was made.

"...We're following this track. Move about carefully. Stay close. Don't touch anything suspicious." You say your men."What if everything looks suspicious?" One of them asks."Then don't touch anything." You simply reply, following the trail. As you move through the swamp, you find the terrain becoming damper and wetter as you cover more ground, the soggy marsh giving way to a sort of shallow lake or sea, where you and your men have to wade through with water reaching up to your knees. Despite this, the terrain under your feet is solid, almost rocky, and you don't have the sinking feeling you had up to now with every step. Despite slowing down your progress, this cheers up you and your men because it means quicksands are less likely. The water is also unusually clean all around you.The fog quickly parts, and the trees and reeds slowly vanish, which means that you lose the track you were following. It's not like you can count on any footprints here anyway, so your only choice is to move forward and hope you don't lose your bearings.Fortunately, the improved visibility lets you spot a palace rising from the water in the distance. It seems quite damaged, with part of the structure crumbled in a pile of debris, the walls shattered and broken here and there. It also has a distinctively "abandoned" feel.It seems the destruction is still going on: you hear the noise of combat from within, with the clash of arms, screams, and the roar of masonry exploding and crumbling.>Move in>Move in, but leave the pirates behind>Wait to see what happens>Order your men to surround the building

You lead your men to the floating palace. Which is not really floating, to be honest, because you notice the water getting more and more shallow as you approach. It's rather solidly built, The water swirls and flows rather fast around your legs as you get closer, and you notice a variety of colorful and bizarre lifeforms in the water. Fishes made from living mother-of-pearl, or cut from the finest colored silk, crabs made from folded paper origami stalking sand seahorses... the list could go on and on.There are also corpses scattered around (often quite literally), half-melted lizardmen with colorful scales, in the process of slowly vanishing back into the wyldstuff."Someone got busy here." Your men comment as you walk into the palace. It must have been a beautiful, luxurious dwelling, but now it's completely wrecked.Even inside the palace, a few centimeters of water cover evenly the entire floor, with small wyld-warped creatures living in the shallow water. They're even thicker here, and for a moment you're a bit worried that you might be crushing them with every step, before you realize that they're apparently all skilled or fast or smart enough to move out of your way just enough to avoid your footsteps."Oh, my, my." You suddenly hear a known voice from just behind you. "She really trashed my home."You and your men turn around, aghast, to see the head of Silk sprouting from the water. "YOU? Weren't you going to leave?!""I was about to... but then I got scared. I'm worried that I'll stumble into some bad people who will want to hurt me." She whimpers doing her best to look shy and worried and cute. "And so I need a big, strong woman who will protect me.""...You..." You lift your fist, and she cowers. "Nooo~~ Please don't hurt me~~~ I didn't do anything bad~~~">Hit her>Drive her away>Ignore her>Tell her she can stay with you as long as she behaves

"You should get lost." You threaten her. "If Tia finds you, I'm not sure I could stop her from stomping you flat.""It's okay!" She smiles. "I trust you."That's when a wall explodes as a lizardman is thrown through it.It slams on another wall in front of you, a few meters ahead of you. Despite it being WAY dead, he's immediately followed by a large bit of masonry being thrown onto him from outside of your field of view, turning it into a very, very, very thin paste. From the hole emerges Tia, breathing heavily. She's covered in small cuts and scrapes and blood, and her dress is all damaged and ruined."...Maka?" She looks at you, surprised. "Uh. Hi, Tia."She stomps up to you angrily. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU SHOULD STAY IN BED AND REST YOU'RE STILL WOUNDED LEAVE THIS TO ME EVERYTHING IS UNDER CONTROL." She says in a single breath before catching air. She seems extremely worried, and looks at your wounds that haven't healed yet. "...Your new outfit is nice by the way, but, really. "...Thank you, Tia. It's all right. I was just... worried about you." You explain."Uh?" She asks."Well..." You roll your eyes. "I was scared that you were doing something stupid.""Nah. See? I'm all fine!" She says, opening her arms. She IS wounded, although they don't look like particularly serious wounds. But she's also obviously tired and, judging by the glow lingering about her, burned a lot of Essence."...It's good to see that, Tia, but I'm thinking you should come back to the Bloodshark too. Let's take a break together, okay?" You invite her with a wink."...That's unfair. If you ask me like that, I won't be able to say no." She droops her shoulders."Oh, come on." Silk pops up from the water, next to both of you. "I even gave you directions to Tarien Dorian's castle. Aren't you going to go there?"Tia looks at her. Then she looks at you. Then she looks back at her."HERE YOU ARE YOU DAMN-" And she tries to grab the slippery, shapeless Fae, who winces back in fear."NO WAIT WAIT I'M NOT HERE TO FIGHT I SURRENDER DON'T HURT ME PLEASE MAKA GUARANTEES FOR ME"Tia stops, her hands deeply embedded inside the fae's semiliquid, transparent body, and turns again to you, silently asking you what you intend to do.>Explain the terms of your oath, ask Tia to let her go.>Explain the terms of your oath, do a token attempt at stopping Tia but let her deal with Silk however she wants.>Explain the terms of your oath, tell Tia you don't care anyway and she can do whatever she wants, you won't uphold your oath.>Explain the terms of your oath, and ask for Tia's opinion on how to deal with it.>Explain the terms of your oath, and that now that you're two against one (plus your men with iron weapons) you'll just break your oath and kill her>Other?

Rambling herself to sleep repeating the same phrase is indicative of borderline catatonia and trauma-induced stupor and does not guarantee that she even heard what Maka said there, let alone was capable of processing it in a reasonable manner. She *may* have heard us, but given her apparent mental and physical state at the time it is highly questionable.
>>31035875>And thus we get to deal with the consequences of breaking said oath. What consequences? It's not magically binding in any way. And there's literally no-one ever who will give a fuck if we backstab a Fae like that. No-one who matters, at least.

You briefly explain to Tia the circumstances behind Silk and her oath. She then explains succinctly, shaking Silk a bit."M-M-M-M-Maka told me." She stammers."So explain to me why I shouldn't kill you."She makes a really forced smile. "...Because Maka would feel really bad about it?"You shake your head. She shakes Silk in response."B-because... because I am actually trying to help you take down Tarien Dorian and you have no reason to believe otherwise?"Shake shake shake."B-b-because... uh... because I just want to survive this whole mess happening right now and have no intention to get in trouble?""I think we're getting closer to the truth." "...Alright, the main gist of it is that... well, let's say you kick out all of the fae and especially the prince out of here. What next?""We reclaim the Wyld to Creation." You reply."But you know you can't claim all of it. The deepest part of Wyld will stay. Even if you landscape the area all around it, it will survive for hundreds of years, maybe thousands, before you can whittle it down to nothing." She smiles. "Unless you blast it with some really powerful artifacts or sorceries, I guess, but if you had those you would've already used them."(cont.)
"We could use them later, once we acquire them." Tia notes."You could. But, you know that even for you Creation-dwellers the Wyld, with its infinite potential, can be very useful to have." She nods, sliding a bit back into the water, up to the waist. "But Wyld left to its own, without someone with the power to shape it to its will, can be dangerous for the nearby Creation-dwellers."You point at the fae. "...Alright, I get what your game is. You want us to leave you in power of whatever Wyld's left once we dethrone Tarien Dorian."She nods. "I'm not going to raid Creation for mortals, and will keep the Wyld in check so that it doesn't threaten your lands, but in exchange you put me in charge, allow me to feed on ambient emotions and arrange it so that I can do it easily and harmlessly. You protect me against people who want to hurt me, both your own and other Fae, and I can use the Wyld to your advantage.""Why should we trust you? And don't give me another oath. Give me a real reason." Tia grabs her head, fingers sinking softly inside her substance."Because I'm not ambitious or tricky. I Just want my little realm, safety, a guaranteed livelihood, and to satisfy my curiosity by living near you Creation people. I want to spend a few centuries in safety, isolated from the other Raksha. A bit of me time. I'm sure it can be a mutually beneficial relationship!" As she says this, her shape slowly shifts into a less threatening-looking one. "I'm ready to change. See?">Agree to her offer>Make a counter-offer (what?)>Say that you can't decide on your own>Tell Tia the choice is hers>Reject the offer, you'll risk keeping an empty Wyld until you can destroy it for good
>>31036148>Say that you can't decide on your ownWe have to talk to Amata and the Three Rivers and others invested in the island and this campaign against the fae, we can't make that call, and I hope we don't, so we can end her when it suits us.
Rolled 10>>31036148>Say that you can't decide on your own>Make a counter-offer (what?)A tribute of gossamer is going to be required, and she's probably going to have to swear herself to be a vassal of someone>Remember to tell Tia and everyone else that she is bound to pacifism as long as she stays in Tianna.
>>31036148Question: can we reasonably infer from what that fae that got smashed by a boat said that binding a Fae's graces, whatever those are, would prevent her from betraying us?
>>31036148This is the EXACT SAME SHIT that Garnet was trying to pull before he mindfucked us.Just pointing that out.
Rolled 4>>31036148>Say that you can't decide on your ownThis isn't even our island, we can't really be making these decisions without everyone, and if they end up wanting to kill all the fae then I guess I just have to deal with that
>>31036179+1We should be extremely wary of this shit.
This >>31036179 plus she now explained to us that she never wanted to uphold her part of a deal, that is, leaving. She wanted to stay from the start. You know what that means.>Use hair-dryer on Silk
>>31036148Talk to Tia about it. However, unless she raises any major issues with it I'm inclined to agree. However, I want a real damn oath. One we've sat down with people and hammered out. Not one off the top of our head.
Rolled 9>>31036148>Say that you can't decide on your ownand tell her that she will have to be properly bound into an oath by Mikahil if the other powers agree.
>>31036179Not really. He was promising us all sorts of shit he probably couldn't deliver. The bullshit is much less strong in this one. Also, he never mindfucked us.>>31036173agreed.
>>31036148>Say that you can't decide on your ownWe'll need to talk to the actual owners of this island.
>>31036198Just pointing out that leaving the island was never part of her oath.
Rolled 2>>31036200Oh absolutely. Proper contract, with clauses, sub clauses, terms and agreements, and Silk's getting bound by her Heart Grace
>>31036206>Also, he never mindfucked us.No, but he did Tia, in the old-fasioned way.
>>31036215No, but this way she's not ever leaving which by the terms of *our* oath oblige us to protect her the whole time.Which we could constitute as a foul play breach of the agreement, buts till.
>>31036148>OtherGarnet made the same offer before fucking us over, so until I see evidence you're not like him and not capable of being like him, that ain't happening.
Rolled 3>>31036173>>31036200both of these are good.>>31036198She said she would not harm anybody while she was on Tianna and 5 days after it. She never said she would leave. Like all fae, she is following the exact letter of her oath
>>31036206Same intent. "Let me run the place after you kick out Dorian, it'll be good, I swear!"Fuck. That. Shit.
>>31036214>We'll need to talk to the actual owners of this island.Technically, we're one of the owners. Lets face it, the three most influential people on the island are the Queen of Tiana, the Head of the three rivers and us.
>>31036226yeah, if we allowed it and she never left the island, our oath would still stand, which would break the spirit of the oath, which would let us fucker her over
>>31036232Not really. Its: "Let me run the place after you kick out Dorian, it'll be good, I swear!" vs "Let me run the place after you kick out Dorian, I'll make you Queen of the world!"
Rolled 9>>31036226she will also be obliged by the terms of her oath to do no harm.
>>31036237We have no legal authority though.>>31036173>>31036200STOP MAKING DEALS WITH FAE.WE HAVE PROVEN THIS IS A BAD IDEA.REPEATEDLY.
>>31036148I doubt she'd agree to giving over her Heart Grace, since free will and all that (who knows, though), but what would happen to her if she swore over all the other graces? Not voting in favor of agreement yet, just curious.
>>31036247Neither is the slightest bit good for Tianna in the long term, nor for Maka.>>31036252NOBODY ON THE ISLAND THAT ISN'T FAE KNOWS ABOUT THE GRACES. STOP ASKING.
>>31036148>Say that you can't decide on your own
Rolled 7>>31036249we are not going to make the deal. We are going to get all major players to sit down with Silk and we are going to hammer out a proper contract, probably with Mikahil (you know, that guy who's really really good at that sort of thing) writing it up. And Silk is still straight-up unable to even try and hurt us, as opposed to Garnet who only swore to love us
>>31036252We'd control...most of her. Graces are a big deal. It's not just a measure of trust. It allows you to define who they are on the most basic level.Having a Fae's grace basically gives you an irresistible mind-rape on the thing. They are just limited in scope of mind-rape, save the heart's grace.
>>31036148>>Say that you can't decide on your ownWe have no authority to make the decision anyway.
>>31036269>We are going to get all major players to sit down with Silk and we are going to hammer out a proper contractTalon Won't; he's explicitly been indicated to hate Fae to death.>probably with Mikahil He's left the Island, and is long gone for our purposes.>And Silk is still straight-up unable to even try and hurt usDoesn't mean she still can't cause problems. Fae are the epitome of Rules-lawyers.The only safe Fae is a dead Fae.
>>31036269Agreed. Including a clause requiring her to go to war with a 2/3rds vote of the three rivers, Tiania, and us. And yes, each of us can give the other proxy if necessary.
Rolled 8>>31036269>Garnet who only swore to love usAnd people were surprised when he fucked us over
Rolled 9>>310362621. Having a friendly fae is actually extremely good for both Tianna and Maka in both short and long term. The problem is simply making sure she stays friendly2. I'm pretty sure anon was asking what the Graces do. A lot of players don't know what they are, and it's a fairly confusing concept
>>31036173works for me. Also, she'd need to swear to be a loyal vassal.
>>31036293>1. Having a friendly fae is actually extremely good for both Tianna and Maka in both short and long term. The problem is simply making sure she stays friendlyThe only useful Fae is a dead Fae. Ever. They are never worth the effort of managing unless we have a powerful Eclipse on permanent retainer to micromanage them. No, Mikhail is not an option there.
Rolled 6>>31036290I wasn't. Love is a vague concept, as opposed to "I swear I will do no harm" is much more concrete, and is not limited to physical harm
>>31036295>>31036288>>31036269>>31036218>>31036206>>31036200WHY ARE YOU ALL SO CONSTANTLY STUPIDWE NEED TO KILL THE FAENOT MAKE DEALS WITH ITOR IT WILL JUST FUCK US OVER AGAIN
>>31036297That depends a lot on ST interpretation. Fae play roles usually. Its totally legit to have a fae playing the loyal knight.
Rolled 9>>31036304contrary to popular belief, Fae are different from one another. Silk seems more open to negotiation and mutual satisfaction, probably making her a Diplomat/Worker, while Garnet acted more like an Entertainer/Warrior, making him extremely untrustworthy and volatile even compared to other Fae
>>31036304Anon, I agree, but they're dead-set on it. She's acting cute and helpless, and /tg/ has a massive boner for diplomacy. Exaltedfag just handed us our heroin - yelling won't keep us from using it.
You shake your head. "It's not a decision I can take on my own.""Right, right, of course." She smiles. "You have to agree with the others, right? Well, then, let's go."You blink. "...Go where?""Well, weren't you going back to your ship? To rest your wounds and have sexytimes with your Lunar and to talk with the others about my offer? I'm coming too!""I'm pretty sure Talon is just going to kill you." You state."Well, you're going to help me out if he does, aren't you?" She winks."Honestly I kind of hope that he's going to be way too fast for me to do anything about it.""But then you'd have to deal with an uncontrolled patch of Wyld for who knows how many years. Not to mention all the monsters it will spawn, or all the other Raksha who will want to take control of it. People who will be a lot less peaceful or lazy than I am, mind you." She smiles softly. "Look, I realize that you've had a bad experience with Garnet and it burned you out on dealing with my kind, but we're not all like him.""Prove it." you reply."Give me a chance to prove it.">Let her come with you, return to the Bloodshark>Leave her in the Wyld, return to the Bloodshark>Other?
>>31036304Well, if she's not lying about unruled Wyld lands being more dangerous than the ruled kind, we're going to need SOMEBODY in charge.Just... someone much less volatile than Garnet.
>>31036328She's fucked us over by following us to Tia, *knowing* full well we'd have to invoke our promise.None of the roles these Fae are playing are the slightest bit beneficial to anyone but themselves.
>>31036337Er, that was me. Sorry, posted in another thread and forgot my trip.
>>31036287>Doesn't mean she still can't cause problems. Fae are the epitome of Rules-lawyers.Actually, that's the opposite of what Fae are. Fae are bound by the spirit of oaths, not the letter. They hate mortals for their rules lawyering and breaking oaths.
>>31036337>KILL THE FAE
Rolled 9>>31036337>Let her come with you, return to the BloodsharkLet's get this over with
>>31036337>Let her come with you, return to the Bloodshark
>>31036337>Let her come with you, return to the BloodsharkEither Zaan and Talon make an ironclad - literally - oath for her to swear, or Talon kills her before we can intervene.Win-win.
>>31036351Tell that to Garnet.Silk seems to have missed the Memo following us here, too.
Rolled 3>>31036344Because we definitely stopped Tia from shaking her like a ragdoll. Our husbando could have torn our Heart out and we would have just apologized because she didn't listen.>Let her come with you, return to the BloodsharkAny hint of betrayal, and me and Tia will use your corpse like a waterbed
>>31036337>Other?This isn't worth the bother. Let's just let Tia kill her and be done with it.
>>31036355Look, can we wait for a reasonable opening instead of voting every single action whether or not to kill her?
>>31036337>Let her come with you, return to the BloodsharkWhile i voted for swearing the oath, it was only to save essence, i have no plans on dealing with her, just fulfill the minimum obligation of keeping her safe from our allies. The plan of purging the wyld remains unchanged. Honestly, dealing with fay is too much work to be worth it.
Rolled 9>>31036337>Ask Tia if she's alright making deals with another Fae>Let her come with you, return to the Bloodshark

>>31036390Huh...I hadn't actually realized that one was being throw literally 1/min.
>>31036337>Let her come with you, return to the BloodsharkLook Exaltedfag can you just say OOC that Maka doesn't belive that Fae are like Hollow Quest Djini? That they don't literally live just to fuck us over with no sense of self preservation?
>>31036371technically, she has 5 days to leave.
Man, all this talk about how Fae are going to dick us over is making me want to include them in my Exalted game. The Fae will be 100% honest and trustworthy, playing the role of the Paladin, the Knight on a White Charger. Ruleslawyering or being a dick about oaths in that role would be a betrayal of the role.I wonder if you can use fae shaping to shape someone back to health if they are hurt.
Rolled 9>>31036412No, she has to spend five days traveling away from the island when she does leave, it was to prevent her from stepping off the island and coming back in to fuck us over
Rolled 10>>31036412no sir. She is bound to do no harm as long as she is on Tianna and for five days after she leaves. She can stay as long as she wants, but she can't hurt anybody physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, etc.
"...Come along. But no tricks." You threaten her. Tia says nothing, but her glare is just as sharp."I told you! I'm not the tricky sort of fae!""You said that you were leaving the island and then followed me instead." You glower, walking out of the palace."I changed my mind! You Creation people never change your mind?""Oh? What made you change your mind, then?" You shoot back at her."...The realization that I was wandering, without my knife, in a swamp full of hostile Exalted and iron-toting mortals? I felt so lonely and vulnerable! I needed to be protected! And I could only trust you of all the people I know!"You take a deep sigh, and you and Tia trade tired glances. The walk back to the Bloodshark is going to be long.>Ask for the pirates' opinion.>Ask for Tia's opinion.>Keep questioning Silk (about?).>Just walk silently.
Rolled 1>>31036337>>Let her come with you, return to the BloodsharkBe ready for any sign of betrayal.

>>31036399What Maka believes is shaped by your responses.
>>31036444>Keep questioning Silk (about?)."So, one of your fellows said that your lord should have binded Garnets Graces. What are your graces?"
>>31036444>Just walk silently.
>>31036444>Keep questioning SilkWe want to get to know her a but
>>31036444>Ask for Tia's opinion.
Rolled 9>>31036467Oh, I like that!Seconded.
>>31036444Seconding >>31036467 & >>31036483
Rolled 5>>31036444>Keep questioning Silk (about?).Garnet mentioned your lord as fighting another lord, who is that
Rolled 6>>31036444We should also be holding Tia's hand, we haven't seen her since we woke up
>>31036467Why didn't i think of that?
Rolled 8>>31036444>>Ask for the pirates' opinion.>>Ask for Tia's opinion.and ask Silk what her plans are, if she's allowed to have her little piece of Wyld. we need some concrete plans if we want to argue her case

"So, one of your fellows said that your lord should have 'binded Garnet's Graces'. What are your graces?""Not much, I'm afraid. I can't really dance or sing, and I have no artistic talent for things like painting or composing poetry, even though they are all things I enjoy." She thinks about it. "In general I would describe myself as clumsy, rather than graceful. On the other hand, Garnet was very graceful and elegant. Man, I was envious of him." She pauses, turning to you. "You killed him, right? It's okay to use the past tense?"You're about to reply when she interrupts you: "Oh! Oh! I'm good at sculpture, if this counts!" She shifts her shape, moving around her mass and making her surface a lot smoother and more defined. As she slithers to your side, you see her focus in a much more refined and aesthetically pleasing shape. She only keeps it for a few seconds though, before returning to "normal". "How was that? I'm a bit tired, so I can't really do it for a lot. Maybe I can give you a full performance some other day~""...What does "binding Garnet's Graces" mean, then?" You reply."Mhhh. Probably kinky bondage stuff? I think Garnet was into that. Or maybe it means the prince "bound" him in sort of a "you are my slave now, bwahaha", way? I never paid a lot of attention during court meetings."Tia shakes her head.(cont.)
>>31036585Can't blame the Fae from trying to avoid telling people who blatantly don't trust them about the worst thing a person can do to a Fae.
Rolled 10>>31036585Well no shit she didn't tell us
>>31036598also a great way to keep us from trusting her...
>>31036598I agree. I can blame her for doing a really bad evasion though.
>>31036619She did say she's not very good at being tricksy.
Rolled 10>>31036619That is a Good Thing
>>31036627>>31036635Point. The pathetic job she did at avoiding that actually makes me trust her a lot more.
>>31036642Maybe that means she's actually SUPER tricky and tricking us into thinking she's not tricky!
Rolled 10>>31036660nah. Garnet's role was that of trickster. Why would two Fae in the same scene have the same part?
>>31036660While I realize you're joking, I want to point out that she wouldn't try that gambit with her graces.
>>31036668Yeah. Graces are way too important for her to gamble with. Especially on a double bluff, which is damn risky.
Rolled 6>>31036665I wonder what Silk used to do for Dorian, from the name she might have been in charge of gossamer
>>31036668we still don't know what those are, as she caredully dodged that question
Rolled 3>>31036702She's a Noble, so she was a member of two castes. Gossamer production makes sense, and would mark her as being a Worker (Temperence). She just mentioned being in courts, so she is also probably a Diplomat (Conviction).
You turn to Tia. "What's on your mind?""Nurse-and-patient roleplay.""...I meant about Silk.""...You want her to play the nurse, or the patient?""...Come on, Tia. Stay focused.""Oh! You meant about the Wyld zone!" She finally realizes. You take a loong breath."Well, It's true that an unattended Wyld zone can be dangerous, and it's true that having the loyalty of a Fae would be very useful.""Can we trust her?" You ask the all-important question."I don't know." She admits. "Maybe. I'd say we have to make it so that it's in her best interests to be loyal to us.""Mh. How are we going to do that?""We could beat her up." She suggests."Isn't that going to make her like us LESS, rather than more?" You point out.She thinks about it. "We could fuck her into submission.""...Anything other than sex and violence?" You ask."Aren't those our specialties?" She asks back. She kind of has a point."Once we get to the ship, we put her in iron chains. Then we deal with her more calmly." "Bot you still think we should leave her the benefit of the doubt? Despite what happened with Garnet?" You wonder, a bit surprised that Tia is not completely berserk about killing her."...Well, yesterday you got mad at me because I killed Garnet without first listening to you.""That's-" not a good memory for you."But you were right. I shouldn't have. And, Silk has basically surrendered to us. She might end up being an useful ally if we handle her correctly. And, she's right about one thing at least.""What?" You ask."She's not Garnet. They're from the same race, but separate beings." She makes a poignant pause. "...There are some bad Lunars, Maka. Fortunately you never met them. But I wouldn't want to be judged because i share the same nature with them. Likewise, there are bad Solars. In the past, there have been a lot- A LOT of bad Solars. But I won't judge you, or others, because of them, even if you have the same nature. So... I won't judge Silk yet."(cont.)
Rolled 5>>31036753And then Tia was a more rational person than 99% of the human race circa 2014she gets a hug and a kiss, right now
>>31036753>She thinks about it. "We could fuck her into submission."This is a good and logical plan. It cannot end poorly.
Rolled 1>>31036753Tia has become a good girl, are we holding her hand, we should if were not. Also she's right, we should fuck Silk into submission
>>31036782Yes, she deserves to have a hand held.
Rolled 9>>31036782absolutely. On both counts, but the sex comes laterTia has to nurse us back to health first
>>31036753>She thinks about it. "We could fuck her into submission.">"...Anything other than sex and violence? You ask.>"Aren't those our specialties?" She asks back>She kind of has a pointTia is the best Lunar Bondmate.
>>31036753>You turn to Tia. "What's on your mind?">>"Nurse-and-patient roleplay.">>"...I meant about Silk.">>"...You want her to play the nurse, or the patient?">>"...Come on, Tia. Stay focused.">>"Oh! You meant about the Wyld zone!" She finally realizes.>>You take a loong breath.Oh, Tia. I really hated you at first, but I love what you've mellowed into.
Finally, you reach the Bloodshark. The island of stable Creation around it is a lot wider now, and you see groups of armed-and-armored pirates walking around the perimeter, hammering iron nails into trees or into the soil, tracing right lines intersecting at sharp angles on the ground, and loudly giving names to trees, rocks, even single plants. Most of the names you hear are corny and not really creative, which makes you suspect they're running out of them quickly.Your group, overjoyed at having navigated through the Wyld without anything TOO horrible happening to them, thank you profusely for your protection (even though you didn't do much) and rejoin the crew. Samiel drops down from the upper deck and comes to meet you."Got another prisoner?" He asks, eyeing Silk."Yep!" She replies, surprisingly chipper."Will she behave this time?" He asks you, rather darkly."Yep!" She replies in your place. Tia plants her hand on her mouth and sinks it halfway inside her face. "Shut up a second, you. Samiel, can you be a dear and bring out the iron chains.""Sure. Good call." He replies, heading back to the ship. "There's Talon and Zaan in the captain's cabin preparing the next offensive. Everyone was waiting you.">Hurry up and join them right now, Tia and Silk will join you later>Wait for Tia to secure Silk with the chain, then go there together>Trust that Silk will behave and spare her the chain, join the others>Other?

>>31036842>>Wait for Tia to secure Silk with the chain, then go there togetherSafe than sorry.
Rolled 4>>31036842>Wait for Tia to secure Silk with the chain, then go there together
Rolled 10>>31036842>Hurry up and join them right now, Tia and Silk will join you laterWe should probably give Talon and Zaan a heads up about Silk so they don't attack on sight or something
>>31036842>Trust that Silk will behave and spare her the chain, join the othersIron is a hit hefty, considering how much is harms Fae by mere presence.
Rolled 5>>31036842>Wait for Tia to secure Silk with the chain, then go there together.Pretty sure Talon will be less likely to simply end the Fae if she looks like a well guarded prisoner than anything else. We should probably mention that to Silk and hope she plays along.
Rolled 5>>31036842>Wait for Tia to secure Silk with the chain, then go there togethermurmur to Silk that if she's a good girl she'll probably get healed by Nurse Tia
Rolled 3>>31036900nah, Nurse Tia is only for uswe get to to do S&M play with Tia on her, I mean, we're already putting her in chains...
>>31036900>she'll probably get healed by nurse Tia and doctor Maka.FTFY
>>31036842>and loudly giving names to trees, rocks, even single plants. Why is this so funny to me?Also props to Exalted for the reference to Adam giving names to everything in the Book of Genesis. That's legitimately clever.
Rolled 5>>31036931ooh that will be fun. We should definitely try this out. Gotta let Tia know without Silk hearing though
"...Is this really necessary?" Silk asks, as Samiel wraps the iron chain around her neck. Where the metal touches her blob-like flesh, you see it becoming opaque rather than transparent, and quite hard rather than yielding. The treatment seems to be painful for her."If we don't do this, you might be destroyed immediately. This is so we can trust that you won't do anything stupid.""...As long as it's temporary. I... really don't like this. You'll remove it right away, right?"You dodge her question as Samiel puts a lock on the chain and hands you the other end."My Maka has a Fair Folk on a leash." is Tia's comment. She sounds inordinately proud of that."...Let's go now." You give a light tug to the chain, producing a pained, distressed moan from your Fair Folk on a leash. You climb onto the ship and down into the quarters, where your captains, a few barbarian chiefs, Talon, Zaan, Flow, Yaraon and Dancing Smoke are crowding the narrow space, all sitting around a small table, or standing around it. There's a rough map with the few landmarks of the Wyld badly scrawled on."...Maka. Tia." Talon lifts the eyes from the map, as the ongoing discussion suddenly stops. "And a prisoner. You must be Silk, right? I heard about you.""I hope it was good things." "Silk here..." and you give another gentle tug to the chain, "...provided us with directions for Tarien Dorian's castle." You point at the map, the location marked as "Fortress on the Water", and start explaining: "From here, there's a red road. Following it, you'd reach a starleaf tree...""THE Starleaf Tree." Points out Silk."...Which has some sort of guardian creature. From there, there's a path to his castle."While you explain, Zaan draws your directions on the map. "Good. This gives us a way to plan our next move." He eyes Silk. "...If it's true.""It is!" She replies, almost sounding offended. "Can you take this horrible chain off me now?""What did I miss while I was away?" You wonder, ignoring the fae's plight."You want the long version?" Talon grins."Come on~" She protests."Not much, anyway." He laughs. "By my reckoning Silk is the last noble left in the swamp, apart for Tarien Dorian, who is probably still fortified in his castle. He's alone, but probably commands an impressive army of hobgoblins and various Behemoths.""Yes and yes." Silk croaks. "About five thousand hobgoblins. I'd say at least one Behemoth, but I don't know anything specific.""Aren't you helpful." Yaraon seems to be in a really bad mood (as opposed to Dancing Smoke, who is sitting right next to him). You and Silk both start taking simultaneously, interrupting each other. You stop for a moment, looking at each other. Then you both turn to Talon, and talk over each other again."...Alright, we need a referee ." He points at her. "You, shut up."She whimpers and sniffs as you calmly explain the whole issue.By the end of your explanation, most of the table is chattering among themselves. Seems like this proposal has been fairly surprising for them."We should probably vote about this." Talon frowns. "But it's not something I really enjoy discussing. I don't like dealing with your kind.""Aww..." Silk sighs."Proposal." Zaan raises a hand to draw attention. "Rather than voting, since Maka brought Silk here and we all trust her here, let's leave the decision to her, if she is willing to take responsibility.""That means that only Maka will benefit from my services." Silk suggests, gently tugging on the chain."I'm not interested in your 'services'." Talon states, slamming a hand on the table. He does his best to ignore her."Well, I and Samiel will go out to try and carve a stable path to this fae prince's palace." Talon stands up as well, wading through the overcrowded room towards the exit. "We're leaving this thing to you. After a few hours in which, probably thanks to the iron chain, Silk has been collaborative and not tricky at all, in no way trying to subtly manipulate you to get the best possible terms for your oath, you get the following:- Silk will be the absolute ruler of the Black Marsh Wyld. She reserves the right to reshape it in any way she wants as long as this doesn't affect Creation. Its borders can't be changed, neither expanding it nor making it smaller, by either of you, as long as she rules it.- Official visits inside the Wyld, authorized by you (having the visitors carry a specific symbol or token you'll agree on) are not to be harmed and to be treated with the utmost respect. (Anyone else is fair game. She can't actively try to trick and lure people inside, however.)-Likewise, her official visits to Creation are to be treated with the utmost respect (by you and your people, at least).-She is forbidden from hunting and devouring the souls of humans, and from hurting her in any way, even in self-defense, but she is allowed to sustain herself by feeding off ambient emotions. She is allowed to have a harem of humans to that end, but not as slaves. They have to be volunteers and to be treated humanely according to your standards.-You will do your best to protect and defend her from outside enemies, including other Fair Folk seeking to invade her realm.-She will provide you with materials crafted from Gossamer at your request, up to one fourth of her owned reserves, crafted by her to fit your needs.-She has to accept and submit to any physical binding you or Tia inflict on her.-This deal applies to both yourselves and your respective followers.-This deal lasts until you can meet with Mikahil, at which points it can be confirmed or renegotiated, and voids the previous oath you had with her. (cont.)
>>31038045Yeah, but then people get super butthurt about which specific sets of dice he's using to compose Maka's dicepools. At least judging by this thread.
>>31038045No, he really should for exactly this reason.
>>31038029this is what I've been saying all along, because when he does not explicitly call for them, people don't think they are required and don't roll, and we end up with less rolls and with his fucktarded system, this ends up crippling us for no goddamn reason.Fucks sake EF, you even say it yourself>Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka isEven if you ask for people to roll constantly, if they don't know what they are rolling for, or you don't call for rolls for a specific action, they won't, /tg/ is very distrustful of the dice, fuck me you should know this shit already. This shit lies solely at EF's feet.
>>31038045except we don't roll pretty much every post, as we had 12 votes, and less than 5 rolls within the first 6 votes...
Well, I'll be gone for the next hour or so. Hopefully by the time I get back you guys won't have stuck EF's head on a pike.If the Oath really is that terrible we can probably have Mikahil overwrite it with one that's less completely awful, we'll just owe him a favour and he'll have seen us fuck up.
>>31038052>You will do your best to protect and defend her from outside enemies, including other Fair Folk seeking to invade her realm.Bad>This deal lasts until you can meet with Mikahil, at which points it can be confirmed or renegotiated, and voids the previous oath you had with her.Good. >>31038086>If the Oath really is that terrible we can probably have Mikahil overwrite it with one that's less completely awful, we'll just owe him a favour and he'll have seen us fuck up.Seconded. We're not without consolation.

>>31038136Yes. We apparently spent several hours negotiating with her without any chance to use any of our social charms.
>>31038136She doesn't have to use Shaping to manipulate us, she just has to be clever and we have to be a big old ditzy bimbo.Which Maka is on occasion.

You realize that what most of you are arguing is that, if you know what you're rolling for, you're going to roll better? That's how it sounds like, at least. If you prefer, then, I'll be more precise on when I'll need a roll or not. Though that is going to be rather difficult for me, since I can't always predict what your answer will be and if it will require a roll.Thought it sounds like most of you are so mad that you want me to quit this quest. I'm sorry for that.
>>31038183Ehh, she's always a sexpot. She doesn't usually go full bimbo.
>>31038192>You realize that what most of you are arguing is that, if you know what you're rolling for, you're going to roll better? That's how it sounds like, at least. They're joking about confirmation biases, dude. They're not actually arguing.
>>31038192>Though that is going to be rather difficult for me, since I can't always predict what your answer will be and if it will require a roll.What.You ask for votes, then you tally the votes, then you call for rolls for the winning actions.Like. Every. Fucking. Quest. Ever. Fuck.
>>31038192Nah. Note all the people telling them to calm the fuck down and it's not the end of the world. If this fucks us over for the next number of threads, we're probably going to be pissed. If we fucked up in a fashion we can fix, we'll probably be fine.
>>31038192>Thought it sounds like most of you are so mad that you want me to quit this quest. I'm sorry for that. They are mad about dice counting when they had no idea they would, while they got awesome dice previously when it didn't count. Also>Though that is going to be rather difficult for me, since I can't always predict what your answer will be and if it will require a roll.Just do what every other quest in creation does, tally votes, then call for rolls for the action that won the vote, like >>31038214 said.
>>31038192People are just butthurt over the botch and are lashing out and the fae have been a tense subject for the threads for a while, they'll get over it when they see this hasn't ruined Maka's life forever
Rolled 10>>31038192Don't worry about it EF. There's a couple people who got butthurt because they feel that knowing when to roll will magically make us roll better and can't deal with failure. Everyone else accepted that we botched and are waiting for an opportunity to fix whatever fuckup we make
>>31038192>Though that is going to be rather difficult for meHow?>since I can't always predict what your answer will be and if it will require a roll.So don't predict it, no other quest tries to, its folly to even think you can.Its simple, you hold the vote, after consensus has formed and a vote has won, you post stating which vote won, and that you require such and such rolls for that action. It is not hard at all, and keeping us informed of what we are rolling for is the least you could do.
>>31038192That's not what we are arguing at all. The problem is that you can, be deciding when a rolll "counts" essentially means you can manipulate the action in any way you desire. For example, in this thread:Ask About graces: no roll, auto fail.Explain the deal: get 6 successes, doesn't count, you look like an idiot.Agree to keep her. Botch. Bargain for hours without any prompts as to what terms you want or any chance to use our formidable array of social charms. in no case do you call for rolls ahead of time
>>31038254It's less that and more being confused as to which dice rolls are going to count for which things. Is that 10 you just rolled going to be incorporated into our next pool, for example?
>>31038192Not all of us. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I actually enjoy the occasional botch because it makes the story more interesting, and the story is what I'm here for. I think you're doing great, EF. Handling dice here is tricky, though, I'll allow that.
>>31036753>"...Well, yesterday you got mad at me because I killed Garnet without first listening to you."Why the fuck, in 3 threads, did nobody clarified the truth to tia already?Use talk to heart."TIA! You didn't kill garnet, he trapped you in an illusion. After letting you kill an illusion of him he took my form and said hateful things to you, things I would never say, specifically to break your heart so he could have me to himself. Only when you started to run away did I manage to smash my way to you, at which point he escaped, but you fell asleep before I could explain."

>>31038052>Its borders can't be changed, neither expanding it nor making it smaller, by either of you, as long as she rules it.wait a minute, I thought the argument was that it will take HUNDREDS of years to whittle down the wyld here and she only wants it FOR THE DURATION.Why does it now state that we can't shrink it anymore?>- Official visits inside the Wyld, authorized by you (having the visitors carry a specific symbol or token you'll agree on) are not to be harmed and to be treated with the utmost respect. (Anyone else is fair game. She can't actively try to trick and lure people inside, however.)Only official visitors are safe? What? we specifically got her to make it safe for everyone while we destroy the swamp. She is basically harvesting it as it is being destroyed (a several hundred year process). not settling in here as a queen.really this seems off
>>31038254>>31038323>10>10Fuck this thread, I'm going to sleep and will catch up on this trainwreck later.
>>31038323Then our number 1 priority should have been to get a moment of privacy with her instead of doing all that other stuff first.
>>31038275Seriously, you forgot to add: "apparently auto agree." Make this the initial bargaining position, allow us to try to argue her back.
>blaming the Gm for bad rollsDo you want a dead quest? Cause that's how you get a dead quest.
>>31038436It's less blaming the QM for bad rolls and more bitching at him for apparently cherry-picking which rolls he uses.
>>31038192> since I can't always predict what your answer will be and if it will require a roll.Thats very easy to solve and only requires one simple post on your behalf stating which vote won and what we're rolling for, like >>31038214, >>31038235 & >>31038268 said. Its a common thing many other quests do, and it take very little effort, and does not slow things down any more than a minute or two to get rolls.
Rolled 8>>31038457true, but I doubt anybody would be complaining if we'd succeeded instead of botched
Rolled 10>>31038479its well known that /tg/ can't handle failure, especially at the hands of dice, also, your roll, Dice gods, stop laughing at us.
Rolled 4>>31038254>>31038323>>31038479>>31038510>10>10>8>10>those successes earlier that didn't count.Fuck, This. Thread.
This thread is auto-saging. Gonna open a new one later once you people have calmed down.Anyone who is not happy with my QMing and isn't having fun anymore, feel free to stop following Exalted Quest.
I have to admit that it's kinda frustrating to see us roll 6 Successes and then not see them used, followed by a ton of failures that do get counted, but we'll just have to roll with it.
>>31038534Eh, you shouldn't take people bitching about rolls that seriously. It's better if you only ever take rolls when they're explicitly called for though.
Something any deal we make should have: An open clause for renegotiation if either party wants it.As situations DO change and we don't want to accidentally fuck both of us over if a situation comes up.
>>31038534Fine with me. Will we get a chance to provide our input on the terms then roll to convince her?
Rolled 1>>31038544As long as we can come back from whatever the botch did, I'll be pleased.>>31038534I'm angry at the dice, not you, although I'm sure theres some buttflustered anons who can't deal with failure
Rolled 10>>31038565I don't think we should roll to convince her per say, but a chance to use our social abilities would be very welcome, and would make sense considering we spend hours apparently just agreeing with everything.
>>31038534I am seeing people cursing the thread (aka, our dice luck) not the QM or the quest. might have been earlier.Anyways, seriouslycan we open the next thread with >>31038288because we keep on putting it off
Stop bitching about the dice system.I mean theoretically EF could be thinking "They got lots of successes following that update, I'm not going to require a roll" or "oh, they got a botch. I was planning to just have them success but I guess they'll fail" but you just have to trust him that he's not going to fuck us over like that. If you can't do that, then maybe you should really quit.
Rolled 7>>31038573>>31038587...Dice gods, stop it.
Rolled 2>>31038534don't worry about angry anons, EF. THey're more angry that a botch happened. Things should hopefully calm down after some sweet sweet Tia lovin
>>31038587here's what I want Using majestic radiating presence and Talk to the heart.- Silk will be the absolute ruler of the Black Marsh Wyld as our vassal. She reserves the right to reshape it in any way she wants as long as this doesn't affect Creation. Its borders cannot be expanded but they may be reduced at a rate not exceeding (will reduce it to nothing in 2 centuries)- Official visits inside the Wyld, authorized by you (having the visitors carry a specific symbol or token you'll agree on) are not to be harmed and to be treated with the utmost respect. Anyone else must be warned to leave, they become fair game if they do not comply, but you are forbiden to mislead or trick her-Likewise, her official visits to Creation are to be treated with the utmost respect (by you and your people, at least).-She is forbidden from hunting and devouring the souls of humans, or anyone else with emotions including but not limited to gods, and from hurting her in any way, even in self-defense, but she is allowed to sustain herself by feeding off ambient emotions. She is allowed to have a harem of humans to that end, but not as slaves. They have to be volunteers and to be treated humanely according to your standards.-You will do your best to protect and defend her from outside enemies, including other Fair Folk seeking to invade her realm.-She will provide you with materials crafted from Gossamer at your request, up to one half of her owned reserves, crafted by her to fit your needs.-She has to accept and submit to any physical binding you or Tia inflict on her.-She has to assist us in war when called.-This deal applies to both yourselves and your respective followers.-This deal lasts until you can meet with Mikahil, at which points it can be confirmed or renegotiated, and voids the previous oath you had with her.
Rolled 2>>31038605>"oh, they got a botch. I was planning to just have them success but I guess they'll fail" I honestly hope its not that, because you couldn't be more of a terrible GM by taking shit rolls when they are not needed just to fuck over your players.
>>31038617No, stop giving him false reassurance>>31038621That works for me.
Rolled 8>>31038621Seconding this if we get the chance and don't get forced into becoming a yesman and just nodding our head to our captive.
>>31038621Yeah, do this. I don't care how terribly we rolled. We should have a chance to look at the terms and try to amend them.
I find it funny how at every That Guy story there's this horde of imbeclies greentexting shit like >ITT: STUFF THAT NEVER HAPPENED and right here, right in this threat, people are jumping at someone's throat for "fucking them over" when they roll poorly. It's like my players yelling because they rolled a 1 and it's unfair because they rolled already and "the dice lost charge" and it's somehow my fault that they roll low when they had to roll high or that I didn't count rolls that, well, didn't count. Also, none of this would have happened if you had rolled 10s, you can deny all you want and bring all the worst excuses your agonizing butts can pull, but you know it's true. If you had rolled only 10s, nobody would have brought the issue up at all.Holy shit /tg/, I'm glad I'll never play with any of you, ever.
>>31038675But that's not whats happening, at all.
>>31038621>She has to assist us in war when called.hasn't the whole point of this been that she is a coward?>She has to accept and submit to any physical binding you or Tia inflict on her.why is this there?
Rolled 7>>31038693that is there because Tia decided she might want a Fae gimp sometimes
>>31038693>hasn't the whole point of this been that she is a coward? She doesn't necessarily need to fight , she can send hobgoblins or resources to aid us, I doubt she's much of a fighter anyway
Rolled 8>>31038693>hasn't the whole point of this been that she is a coward?assisting in war does not necessarily mean fighting. Indirect aid could be a thing too.>why is this there?Because Tia wants to be a bondage queen?
>>31038705tia's whole thought process is suspect now because she is still under the mistaken impression that was us earlier. She pushed for this because she thinks we TOLD her this is what we wanted (because of what garnet said to her in the illusion)PS. with garnet on the loose we have a BBEG
Rolled 6>>31038693>why is this there?to restrain her? and because it was in the original one?think anon, think

>>31038631I was saying that unless you suspect him of doing that the dice system doesn't matter, and if you think he's doing that you don't trust him at all and should just stop playing.I wasn't suggesting he was doing this
>>31038192So, we calmed down enough to move on yet OP?
Rolled 4>>31038996I would hope so, threads currently on page 7 so well on its way off the board and we've had 6 posts in the last 20 minutes
Hey Exalt Quest is running I wonder what's up>Giant shitstorm over a botch when we don't even know if or how it fucked us over>blaming EF>actually dropping the questand now I remembered why this isn't my primary quest location
Rolled 4>>31039050Well then go be passive aggressive at your primary quest location.
>>31039050>actually dropping the questThat was one guy
Rolled 3>>31038996seems it. People moved from bitching to reviewing and updating contracts, which is a good sign
>>31039089And honestly, quest can only get better with these kind leaving. This botch is the best thing that ever happened to us.
>>31039143don't forget bitching about people bitching about rolls
>>31039159While I'm not disputing that, I think it'd be wise not to through more argument bait out there.
Can't make an elaborate reply bwcause i'm on the move and using whatever little pockets of wifi i can find.>>31038621Will be partially agreed, silk will counteroffer but mostly work off that.In general i only prompt charms when it's an obvious choice, if it's not i'll accept/expect write-ins, which you always did a lot and i've always paid attention to.I'll be more careful to explicitly ask for rolls from now on. Reason i don't post twice per update (once for vote once for roll) is mostly time.I still like rolling all the time because it gives me dice for npcs too.>>31038605Yes. If you don't trust me to be a decent QM i wonder why you're reading my threads. What are you doing here? Also:Complaining that i'm not clear on asking rolls is a legit complaint. Complaining that it's my fault the rolls were bad while you were discussing the oath is not, unless you also complained when Maka basically two-punched a giant monster with some amazing rolls (you didn't)
>>31039193I think the whole 'prompt for rolls' thing is mostly a information and feel-good issue, while no one is going to complain when the dice are good, i can see why people complain when their luck runs out.Or they're gonna try to fudge the dice when you prompt for a roll. Who knows?
Oh nice exalted quest is back on.> reads through.> oh a botch on our main .>huh.>massive shitstorm>dramaSeriously people you are too invested in this. Just lay back and enjoy the ride. The good and the bad.You could have said at the start that you ought to roll only when asked for, but since it seems we spew rolls like a machinegun the GM takes the ones after his posts when he needs it. This minutia is in any case irrelevant since the dice goddess has a sadomasochistic love hate relationship with /tg/There is little point in bitching excessively and spewing drama. If you find your ethics or morality somehow does not like the way its handled then propose a alternative solution to this and gather support for its implementation in a civil way, but please stop the shit slinging monkey behavior.
>>31039193>Reason i don't post twice per update (once for vote once for roll) is mostly time. One solution is, if you're uncertain as to whether players will need to roll or not, simply put 'roll' behind any premade voting options that need them, and make it a rule that if people make customs that seem like they'd need (or players would want) to roll, they do so. Worst-case scenario is they make a custom and don't roll despite needing to, in which case you can explicitly ask for them.Looking forward to next thread!
>>31038534Can we use the three 10s and the 8 on whatever we do next, at least?
>>31039269no banking rolls please. That just causes the problem of people rolling to try and bank rolls, then bitching when 1s also get banked
>>31039193Thanks for putting up with all of this EF
>Huge massive shitstorm over contract negotiations>Not a concern for our traumatized waifu>I suggest we, 3 threads later, finally explain to her it wasn't us who said those things>Only 1 reply by someone who said we are waiting until we are alone (even though we spent hours doing stuff in a place where we could easy take a moment to be alone).People are raging about the wrong damn thing.PS. I do feel kinda bad for garnet though. Poor guy saw us stand there and watch as he was "killed"
Rolled 6>>31039159considering they're probably still here, your retarded for suggesting it was the best thing to happen to us
>>31039269No because we never got the third post in the sequence. Until EF finishes the action this is all just discussion.
>>31039280I mostly meant specifically because we got fucked by a bunch of banked 1s this time, so we use these banked 10s next time and then we call it even and start only rolling when called for. Mostly to help salve the butthurt.
>>31039193>Yes. If you don't trust me to be a decent QM i wonder why you're reading my threads. What are you doing here?I just want to note that people tend to notice failure and criticism more than success. This has been conclusively proven in a wide number of studies. A loose roll system will play into that perception on both sides. Basically, you are more likely to notice and use bad rolls, just as we are more likely to notice and bitch about bad rolls.
Rolled 4>>31039193>Reason i don't post twice per update (once for vote once for roll) is mostly time.Well at the speed these threads go, you'd be losing very little time by making another post announcing what action won the vote and asking for rolls, it would take less than 5 minutes to get the required rolls, and it also lets us know what we're rolling for, what skills and abilities we're using etc
>>31039332This is true. According to some studies I've read that you need to compliment someone 7 times to every time you criticize them for them to feel your feedback is neutral. So OP, you're alright.
By the way, is it just me or are the dice botching on Mental rolls to the exclusion of all others?Maybe it's a sign from the dice gods that Maka is...less blessed in the brain area compared to certain other places.
>>31039429When we're routinely relying on Tia for smarts, I'd say so. Not that she's all that dumb, but...still not exactly the most rational person around.
>>31039329Voting for, as Tia said, "Fucking Silk into submission."
>>31039454That would be amusing.
>>31039429Like Tia said, we're good at hitting and fucking things, that's about it.I wonder how we would be trying to do both at once, we'd probably be amazing.
>>31039332the funny thing is that it doesn't just applies to rolls, it also applies to criticism... that is QM is much more likely to be noticing the anger and bitching than all the people who are chill about the whole thing
>>31039454well she does have to comply with any physical restraints. We got ourselves a damn good submissive, methinks. But first, nurse Tia needs to fuck us back to health
>>31039504there's a Martial Art for that
>>31039504VETO!Take your sick fetishes somewhere else... wait, unless you meant hitting enemies while fucking a lover rather then hitting our lover?
>>31039193You could just say:>[Action] (roll 1d10)when one of multiple options would require dice.
>>31039649I think the issue is that sometimes write ins are converting non-roll options into roll-for options and EF can't predict in advance when that will happen. Personally I'd prefer just having rolls called every time and then getting a message if they're used (and if so what for) or not.
>>31039649this could work for non-write in options. For any write ins, we'll just have to guess
>>31039649That's a bad option. We do Other/mixed options way too much.
>>31039649One problem is that people could downvote based on rolls (eg, first person to choose option A rolled a botch, people then vote for option B that doesn't require a roll).I think in a case where several options are given and only some requires a roll, FIRST have a vote, then if the roll requiring one is chosen have QM post:>Action A selected, roll 1d10and count the first X votes after that.Really, it barely takes any time for people to roll, typically you have all the rolls needed in under a minute
>>31039649I honestly don't have any problem with how EF's been running the show.Sometimes you just botch, mang.
>>31039784That implies people are closely watching the thread instead of multitasking. It would also require OP not to be multitasking like he's claimed to be behind the scenes so he can check back in for rolls quickly...which might not be as easily doable as you'd expect.
Rolled 5>>31039784this is what I've been suggesting since the start, and would have prevented this entirely...
Rolled 8>>31039816It takes literally 5 minutes extra to get required rolls...He can still do whatever he is in the background and do it this way, while we're kept informed and things run smoother, seriously, there is NO reason not to do this method.
>>31039816>That implies people are closely watching the thread instead of multitasking.1. auto update is a thing, it makes a (#) appears if there are unread posts2. People ARE checking the thread, all the time>It would also require OP not to be multitasking like he's claimed to be behind the scenes so he can check back in for rolls quickly...which might not be as easily doable as you'd expect.I don't see why not. it is extremely simple and pretty much everyone does that
>>31039841>He can still do whatever he is in the background and do it this way, while we're kept informed and things run smoother, seriously, there is NO reason not to do this method.Except that how he's been doing it has been working fine, this botch included. >>31039944As Anon2 in your example I just wanted to say my intent was mostly to try lowering expectations, I'm not going to complain if things change unless that causes new problems, and I don't particularly see any coming.

Rolled 3>>31040199>I meant that i can only post at certain times diring most of the day, so double posts would make threads twice as slow.Sorry, but that makes no sense to me at all, how can announcing what action won and waiting 5 minutes before starting to write the next update make things twice as slow, it would only take a 1 sentence post + a few minutes on top of the time you already wait for consensus to appear and decide the winning action.
>>31040190>I'm not talking about doing something betterso, you admit that you have absolutely no fucking clue on how to possibly be more gentle and polite than I was, and cause less butthurt. Yet still bitch on how I hurt your/some-anon's feelings by "talking down to them" (translation: Being right when they were wrong)
>>31040234He's saying he finishes his post, then goes and does something else. Then he comes back, checks what won, and writes the next post.He runs the quest using a few minutes of free time between whatever job/school/work around the house.
Rolled 2>>31040255Oh, on that point? Sorry, the way you speak is clumsy and confused. I thought you were going back to the point of handling rolling. You were being a condescending tool by saying dismissive shit like 'pay attention to what is being discussed' and rephrasing things for greentext in a condescending manner. Just saying, 'the conversation's moved on beyond that' would have sufficed. Instead, you were a condescending ass-muncher about it because you like to talk down to people on the internet or something.Have some self-awareness.
>>31040234Since you're dumb, imagine this scenario:>can only use computer for 10 minutes every hourCase 1:>post scene, ask for votes and roll>1h later: tally votes, check roll results, make next post.Total: 1hCase 2:>post scene, ask for votes>1h later: tally votes, ask for roll.>1h later: check roll results, make next post.Total: 2h

However, thank you for explaining. It occurs to me that on case 1.A. a roll can be asked for even if a non roll option is chosen (just ignore the roll in such a case)B. It would be best to NOT notify players ahead of time which options require a roll to avoid people changing their vote based on the roll results. (although it is still possible for this to happen)Another alternative is for you to just roll for us when you finish tallying the vote, I am perfectly fine with that (heck, can allow rolling with a higher quality RNG than the board's roller)

>>31040765I can comprehend that perfectly fine, but that still does not mean I understand the intricacies of his posting and thread running procedure that invalidates my feedback.I open my mouth and offer some feedback that I thought would help make running the thread smoother, and he treats me like a 3 year old, when here I was, trying to help and thinking we could all be civilized after the pointless shitstorm.
