You were once a magical girl, but have now ended up having to hunt down your former comrades. As a member of the Magical Girl Hunter Bureau, it is your job to defend humanity from the Magical Menace!Currently, you on the Prison Star as you have your friend Kanako processed. You decided to leave Carol at the Daedalus, since she and the Magical Girls imprisoned here seemed to be mutually bothered by each others' presence. You're still caught up about Kanako, though. Even though she had reluctantly turned herself in, she was still capable of using magic, which made her a very large potential threat. You know the guys in Intel were just itching to squeeze any useful information out of her, but you're not sure whether they would be successful or not. Kanako was still very... .confused. Throughout the trip, see seemed to act somewhat erratically, at times being rather calm and understanding, and other times manic and uncooperative. It was very disconcerting. On top of that, there was that whole Yamato situation. The ship alone had more Magical Girls in one place than anybody had seen since the end of the War, which was rather disturbing. Bruttenholm had gone straight to the Council to report his findings. In fact, he should probably be back by now. Then again, you didn't visit the Prison Star much. Maybe you could catch up with Mary...>Talk to Kanako>Talk to Mary>Talk to Bruttenholm>Other
>>30880258>Talk to MaryWe can talk to Kanako afterwards after we know how Mary is doing.
>>30880258>>Talk to MaryMight have to ask her if she can tell us anything of Kanoko's condition. As a doc and a magical girl, she might be able to help.
>>30880258>Talk to Mary
>>30880258>Talk to MaryI'd like to talk to Kanako, but I think we did say something about trying to see Mary more without us having to be beaten to a pulp before hand.
>>30880258>Talk to KanakoWe're going to get nothing out of Mary and can catch up on the way out.. Kanako is our best option for new information.
>>30880258>>Talk to KanakoTell her to block Companion communications. They are trying to send a killswitch.
>>30880258You decide to catch up with Mary for a bit. Waving your security badge, the guards let you through with no issue and you make your way to Mary's cell. As usual, Mary is sitting on her bed reading some sort of medical journal. Since she was cooperative, she received some nice perks from the staff."Oh, Alice! It's good to see you in a not-near-death state!" Mary says happily"Hi to you too, Mary." You sigh. "How have things been going?""Oh, you know, sitting around and reading. The usual thing." Mary shrugs. "What have you been up to? I hear we have a new arrival today!""Ah, it's Kanako, actually." You sigh."Oh, really? How nice!" Mary claps her hands together. "She's doing well, I hope?""Well, besides nearly drowning and having weird mental issues, she's perfectly healthy.""Mental issues?" Mary frowns. "What happened?""No clue." You shrug. "The doctors are still trying to figure that out. You don't happen to know how to handle stuff like that?""Sorry, my powers only extend to physical injuries." Mary shakes her head. "Ah, well, it couldn't hurt to ask." You sigh."Come on, sit down with me!" Mary smiles as she shifts to the side pats down on the spot on the bed next to her. "It's been so long since we could just talk like... well... girls!">Sorry, I really have to be going.>Sure, why not.>Other
>>30880726>Sure, why not.Yeah, it's been a while.
>>30880726>Sorry, I really have to be going. We need to talk to Kanako. But I would not be opposed to us "talking like girls" with Kanako. That might help convince her we aren't the bad guy.
>>30880726>>Other"Let me just check in on Kanoko first? I don't want her to end up like heartlancer. I'll be back before I leave, ok? Promise."
>>30880726>>30880765To add to myself, get a security recording afterwards, on the likely case Kanako doesn't believe us.
>>30880726>Sure, why not.
How do we know we can trust Mary? Who is to say she isn't a direct spy for the companions?
>>30880784This is good.
>>30880784I'll guess I'll support this.Changing my vote from >>30880765>>30880800
Why do we have to mention Kanako or the Heartlancer kill switch incident? Wouldn't that encourage the Companions to activate Kanako's kill switch?
>>30880930I kind of doubt it but Alice at this point doesn't have any reason not to
>>30881092If I recall, Companions have to be nearby in order to do it
>>30881092Might give them a fighting chance to resist it?
>>30881177I mean mention it to Mary.>>30881147Hope you're right on that, Spectral.
>>30881147NeatIf we can cut them off from her, another Demi-Magical Girl certainly wouldn't hurt the war effort.
>>30880726"Actually, let me talk to Kanako, first." You say apologetically. "I don't want her to end up like Mirai did.""Ah yes, I heard about that..." Mary says sadly. "Unfortunately, I don't know what her Companion did to her or how it works. Sorry I can't be more of a help there.""No problem. I'll see you soon, okay?""Okay!" Mary smiles and waves goodbye. You then exit her cell and move a little ways down the hall to where Kanako is being held. You still see some medical staff, including Egan, keeping an eye on her. Not to mention all the armed guards around her as well."So, how is she doing?" You ask Egan as you enter."Well," Your scientist friend frowns. "my hypothesis is that whatever mental conditioning the Companions subjected to your friend Kanako here is interfering with her thought processes. She often acts confused as to what she's supposed to to, for example. Whenever we try to ask her a question, she WANTS to try and answer it, but seems unable to, as if she has some serious mental block.""Is she going to suffer the same thing Mirai did?" You ask worriedly."Well, from what I've seen, your friend Mirai was suffering similar symptoms before she had her memory erased. I think, from what you've seen, is that Companions are not omniscient like many people believe them to be, as evidenced by how Kanako has not had her powers and memories taken away from her.""So you're saying her Companion has no idea that she's alive?""That's what it appears to be." Egan nods. "Either that or it's some kind of very elaborate ruse, which I doubt it is.""Okay, then what can we do?""Well, the only answer is vigorous deprogramming and treatment." Egan sighs. "I mean, there's a very experimental and dangerous method we could use...""To cure her?" You blink."Erm, more like, take the answers w ewant directly from her head." Egan frowns. "Very invasive, and quite possibly extremely painful.">No way. Don't hurt her.>If it's the only way...>Other
>>30881679>>OtherLet me speak to her first.
>>30881679>No way. Don't hurt her.Take it slow. Take it easy.
>>30881679>>30881708Seconding. Maybe we could just talk to her. Find out where she's been recently and what she and the other magical girls have been up to in a general sense.
>>30881679>No way. Don't hurt her.>OtherLet me speak to her first. We have some common memories and experiences.
>>30881679>>No way. Don't hurt her.Time to help her remember.
>>30881679>"Erm, more like, take the answers w ewant directly from her head."How exactly does that help her in her current state and fix her head?
>>30881777It doesn't. It gets us vague bits of information through torture. It's better if we request from Bruttenholm that we go capture a companion and fix Kanako that way.
>>30881802....Maybe we should sleep on it.Speak to loki
>>30881679>No way. Don't hurt herWe kill the companion, she turns back to normal. This is also firsthand evidence that the companions are mind controlling the magical girls. This shit is HUGE.
>>30881679>OtherDiplomacy! Try to use these things call words with Kanako.Dice be rollin, /tg/ gods be hatin.
>>30881802That seems incredibly dangerous and risky for Kanako. Could trigger the mindwipe.
>>30881679>No way. Don't hurt her.
>>30881848Why should we tell the companion about Kanako at all? I never said that.I'd rather torture the companion and find out how to undo the mental conditioning.
>>30881679>OtherLet me talk to her first.
>>30881878Not interested in torture. Probably even more useless on companions.Just directly stick diodes and or equipment into it's brain, and extract images from various different stimuli, XCOM style.Or just use it for magical experimentation. We could get a steady supply of companion juice, and perfect it to a safe level.
>>30881939>Just directly stick diodes and or equipment into it's brain, and extract images from various different stimuli, XCOM style.I don't think we're in disagreement at all.
>>30881679>>No way. Don't hurt her.I dont understand this choice, one is for the slow and helpful method of treating her and fixing her, the other just tortures her brain, whats the point of that?
Rolled 7, 20 = 27>>30881984Whether we're willing to sacrifice her to get the information we need, now to take action against the companions.Likely with the longer route, they'll have more time to finish up their plots.
>>30882035The questions is that how do we provoke a companion to show up?My guess is that we want to set up a honey trap. Get a body double of Kanako, put her in mount cheyenne or something similar, announce to the world of a successful capture of high ranking MG, and soak in any MG and companions that try to even get close.
>>30881679"No way, I want to try to do it without hurting her." You shake your head. "At least let me talk to her first.""Go ahead." Egan nods and stands aside. There, you see Kananko, restrained to her bed and mumbling to herself. Somehow, despite having the best medical care available, she still somehow looked like shit. Her eyes sunken and hair tangled."Kananko?" You say softly. "Can you hear me?""A-Alice?" Kanako blinks, and then suddenly her hands start struggling against her restraints causing the nearby guards to raise their guns."Wait!" You raise your hands to stop them. "Kanako, what are you doing?""I-I-I don't know!" Kanako blubbers. "I-It's like my mind... my body are acting on their own!"Kanako takes some deep breaths and slowly the struggling stops. "I want to talk to you, I really do, but- something keeps telling me I shouldn't! I can't!"Jesus, what the fuck did the Companions do to her?"It's all right." You say. You reach forward to put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, but another aggressive jerk from her forces you back."I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" She cries.Yeah, it was clear you weren't going to be able to get anything out of her in this state.>Leave, you're just making the situation worse.>Try to convince Kanako to fight whatever is controlling her.>Other

You plop yourself down on her bed and sigh."Is something bothering you?" Mary asks curiously."Yeah, it seems like Kanako's situation is a lot worse than I thought." You sigh. "And I don't even know how to help her. It's infuriating.""I'm sure it is." Mary nods. Suddenly, you feel her fingers moving through your hair."Mary?""Alice, you hair is just DREADFUL!" Mary tuts. "How long have you been neglecting it?""Ummmm, I can't even remember the last time I cared.""Honestly!" Mary says in a scolding manner. "I'll have to do something about that!"And before you can protest, Mary starts running a comb through your hair. >>30884779>Take a nap.
>>30884779>>Talk to EganKanako is under the influence, what do we know about psychic connections between MGs and their Companions? Do we have Silent Rooms or something? If so, stick Kanako in there.
>>30884779>Talk to EganI forgot, they did take the super armaggedon class invader, right? What happened to it?
>>30884779"I guess we have." Leo nods. "Just uh, try not to tell the others about this? We don't want it to be common knowledge.""Yes, it would be a massive tragedy if other people were to realize that we're in a relationship." Egan says in a deadpan manner. If we talk to Loki, will he use his powers to get us in a relationship with Leo in exchange for something that we have?Reminds me of One More Day
>>30884998>not making a deal with him to free Kanako
>>30884986Carol is not pain. Also, just realized something. We probably won't ever have to deal with boys for Carol.
>>30885012Was Carol fertile to begin with? Next thing you know, she coughs up lots of black ooze which forms into another hybrid.
>>30885076I am assuming Praying Mantis mating rituals with her.
>>30884998You know Loki is going to try harder than that.So the thing it that Loki is alive, somehow, and he has a goal in mind, an agenda. It might be as simple as just saying alive. The point is that if we can find mutually beneficial common ground, we can get somewhat trustworthy intel from him, given the right motivation. Of course, trying to manipulate the God of Trickery is difficult, but not impossible.>>30885012>>30885076She only hears voices from monstrous MG-invader hybrids.
>>30885092>>30885076Prefer Bomango myself. Just one day, BAM, another Carol. Who is Carol but not quite.
>>30885141For non-Bomango readers, this means Carol would reproduce by budding. Like a sponge.
>>30885011I could actually get behind thatY'know, if his name wasn't fucking LOKI. Prince of Deception? The Liesmith? You know, that Loki? Any deal he offers can only end in suffering.Let's take it anyway
>>30884779You guess you could always get some quick rest while you could. You lean back into your seat and close your eyes......and wake back up again to see yourself in an empty passenger cabin, with a goddamn smug looking black cat sitting in one of the seats. Goddamnit, why are you still surprised at this?"It's been a while, Alice." Loki says, his tail swishing in the air." You've been SUCH a busy girl, lately.""I guess I have." You grunt. "What of it?""Well, it's always nice to see my own Magical Girl proving herself superior to my compatriots' selections." Loki purrs. "It makes me very proud, aside from the whole fact that you killed me.""Oh, boo hoo. Am I supposed to feel sorry for you?""Feel what you want." Loki shrugs, or at least does the closest equivalent a cat was capable of doing. "Get to the point, cat. What do you want from me?" You narrow your eyes."Well, if you want information on my compatriots, it can be obtained. It just requires a bit of... decision making.""Such as?""Do you remember Mirai?""Of course I do.""There is a method to restore her memories, without the programming my brother installed in her. It won't be easy, mind you, but it's possible.""What's the catch?" You narrow your eyes."Well, the process would have to involve using the both of us as a conduit. We'd be connected, all three of us." Loki says, his eyes glinting in the darkness.>Okay, I'm interested.>Fuck no.>Explain further.>Other
>>30885186>Explain further. What do you mean by this?
>>30885186>Explain further. No harm in getting more information.

>>30885178Except in Loka Táttur where he actually kept his side of the bargain and helped someone.>>30885186>Fuck no.He has a mind, he needs a body.
>>30885186>OtherThrow in Kanako and you got a deal.>if Loki says "no can do"Okay, I'm interested.
>>30885186>Fuck no.Yeah, so he can be in her too and gain more power. Ha. No.
>>30885186>>Fuck noYeah, right. You're never touching anything physical again. Even if you are a figment of our imagination.
>>30885159>Carol, the fuck is that growing off of your hand?>It's my new sister/daughter/ME, Mom!suddenly her arm falls off, regrows instantly, and the disembodied arm turns into Carol 2.0.>ma ma
>>30885186>Fuck noCute. Like not at all.
>>30885234We're not even in our mid-thirties and we're now a grandmother....
>>30885186>>Okay, I'm interested.Cmon progress.>OtherWhat about Kanako?Next Time! Alice becomes WalmartNight, destroyers of space stations.
>>30885186>>Fuck noThis is why I hate this fucking cat. Why I don't ever want to talk to him.Nothing good will ever come out of dealing with him.
>all of these no votesIf we just say no to everything Loki proposes, this quest will go nowhere. Take risks.
>>30885298Well the point is to extract questionable intel from him. We should have him explain the entire process to us, then share the information with Egan afterwards.
>>30885298>capture and kill all the ratsI call that progress and going somewhere.Dealing with the fuck nut that got us into all of this? No thanks.
>>30885186PERFECT TIME TO DOMINATE HIM!Imagine up catnip, a toy mouse, and the thingy on a stick. Submit to me or be denied playthings!
>>30885323That's a fair position, but anyone who says "fuck no" every time might as well drop the quest.
>>30885337To be fair, I do understand their position. Everything he says, all the half-truths, are poison. We might be better off not talking to him. Even listening to him carries extreme risks. He can say something true, but a lie through huge admission or framing it in a different way.
>>30885379I understand their position as well and Loki must be handled carefully, but refusing his proposals out of hand just because it's Loki makes having Loki around pointless. We have a chance to get Mirai back. Isn't that a risk worth taking? It's certainly less dangerous than the earlier MG Alice proposal.
>>30885409I just want Jo back, she seems to be a prepared character and dice rolls seem to removed her too early.
>>30885409But Mirai has a chance to be out of the war. We're dragging her back into the trenches.
>>30885409Well the real boon here is that if Loki can fully describe the process, in detail, then we have additional insight into magic and we can leave it up to command whether or not to take this deal. But the important thing is that we gain additional intel on magic. The possible trap is that Loki already foresaw this and takes this into account when speaking to us.
>>30885409>It's certainly less dangerous than the earlier MG Alice proposal. Not really. This line.>We'd be connected, all three of us.Out right says he'll be connected to her. Loki is Alices problem not Mirais. I strongly doubt it will be a temp bases with her and more on the permanent one. That isn't a good risk.
>>30885438>>30885441I agree. We don't go dragging girls back into wars.
>>30885460Also, they are war criminals, they clearly killed people, so helping them without proper authorization or controlled environment will make us traitors.
>>30885409But anyways. Let's think here. One obvious motivation for Loki is to become corporeal again or something like that. If we can offer to help him with that, in exchange for something valuable like intel, than a deal may be possible.
>>30885337we are a magical girl hunter, there is more to the quest than >Loki appears once more and offers a proposition>Y/Nif you think people should drop the quest because they don't want to touch Loki with a 10ft pole, your retarded and should leave the questthere, see what I did? I acted like you, now shut up and keep questsing
>>30885488Why do we(ALICE) want him back in physical realm? The risk of having him back around is really too high.
>>30885488I would actually think a corporeal Loki would be far more dangerous than having him on our shoulder tempting us.He can't contract new MGs now. I don't know why you'd want to have more Companions on the field.
>>30885511What if we bring him back inside a controlled room? like in a ship on the dark side of the moon and launch him out of the airlock if he does anything funny?
>>30885511>>30885514Well the point is to not actually give him what he actually wants, but to dangle it in front of him for stuff. Also, if he can be made corporal again, he can be shot again if he misbehaves. Or experimented on. But this Loki seems to be not on their side. At least currently. This is a golden opportunity that will be costly to waste
>>30885556What Loki wants is for us to become a better killing machine. He probably has a larger plot than that, but it involves us being a better killing machine.
>>30885542>>30885556Then why bring him out at all?You know he wont give any info that's wroth anything if we just trap him. And he'll that's the plan base off every time we've talked to him he's known what we've been up to.So do you keep that from happening?
>>30885587>And he'll that's >And he'll know that's
>>30885587Because it's worth a try, and we still know nothing about companions and magic. Tricking a companion is difficult, not impossible.
>>30885587...why is it so hard to kill Companions again? All it takes is a bullet. The only thing dangerous about them is mind control, and it seems to only affect gullible little girls.
>>30885622I rather try on a Companion that's not in our head.
>>30885635Loki is possibly the only one we could possibly trick, because it "claims" not to be on the side of the other companions. This fact, I want to exploit.
>>30885622>>30885635Also you didn't answer my question.>So do you keep that from happening? And worth the risk isn't an answer to it. How do you plan on doing it?
>>30885635Yeah. I'm for making reasonable deals with the devil, but for godsakes can we just let Loki stay dead?
>>30885186"Explain further." You say flatly. "I want you to explain EVERYTHING.""Well, it would involve using what you call 'Companion Juice'. Something that would get her magical abilities working again, even if for a short moment. Then all you have to do is initiate physical contact and I'll handle the rest. We'll jump directly into Mirai's mind and restore all those memories my brother tried to erase.""And you're not going to try and hijack Mirai's body or anything?" "Oh, heavens no. Why would I want a human body?" Loki chuckles. "Besides, you'd be present the whole time anyways, due to our linked nature, so anything I try would have to pass through you as well.""Right..." You frown. "But why would I want to do this?""Because aren't you curious? To know why your best friends turned against you?" Loki says. "Well, now is your chance to see, from your friend's very own memories! Wouldn't you want that?">Yes...>It's not worth it.>Other
>>30885689>Isn't it because I was killing them left and right? A "traitor" to MG kind?
>>30885689>YesI know you guys don't want to bring her back into the war, but we need this intel and we need it bad. We'll be just as connected to her as Loki is, so we can help her resist his machinations.
>>30885689>Other>What is in it for you?If he can't answer that. Then fuck off.
>>30885689>Yes...Solid answers?SIGN ME UP!
>>30885689...Fuck. This is tempting.>other"...I'll think about it."Get out of the dreamscape.
>>30885689>OtherFucking no! I'm not dragging Mirai back into this.Tell me something. What is it your truly want? To become corporeal again? We can try to help you. To make me the greatest warrior in existence? I already am, I can do that without you. What is it your want?
>>30885689>>30885724This. What is he getting out of this? He still hasn't said.
>>30885720You're trusting loki's words directly. Really. This is kind of suspect as fuck.
>>30885754Of course it is. We'll just have to take the risk.Agreeing to one of his deals won't end the entire quest in his favor.
>>30885724Support, I don't see why he wants to do this.
>>30885724And here is the magic question. The one he dodged.
>>30885724This. No yes yet.
>>30885689>Yes...But why would he want us to know?
>>30885689*face grows pale*We know he might screw us over, or not but just in a way we can't see yet and not technically under the terms 'screwing over' We know he can't be trusted. But you want to know.>Other"I..I'll think about it."
>>30885724This sounds good.
>>30885720>>30885733>>30885755Guys, don't do this. We can't afford to drag Mirai back into this hellhole, not on our soul. We got the intel, and now we know extactely what NOT to do.
>>30885689>Yes...Ask the bastard mutant cat what he gets out of this
>>30885724this.no yes YET.
>>30885724thirding forthing whatever.no yes or no answer until we hear this.
>>30885806Mirai will be in the exact same position we send good men into every day. The position we, Carol, Leo, and Egan are all in.It's not 100% right, but it's not completely evil. Mirai will get a chance to help win the war.
>>30885724Actually, supporting this.
>>30885840And we kill the little girl who asked to be our friend.
>>30885724Might as well jump in. Sides we can't just go and get companion juice.
>>30885853Where did you get that from? She's not going to get killed unless we fuck up badly.
>>30885853You're assuming that she'll die, that it's inevitable.
>>30885840Ethically speaking, it's ok. For the sake of Alice's psych and her soul, we better not. She is effectively the only person we saved rather than killed, and I will not have that reversed.
>>30885868Anon is talking about the personality Mirai has right now. The one we talked before.
>>30885868The personality of the little girl who is now Mirai. We do this, that personality will not exist anymore. Is that not death?
>>30885899>>30885900The only thing we know is that she's been mindwiped, nothing about the personality at all.
>>30885899>>30885900So we've already killed her once then by your reasoning.
>>30885900>>30885899It's just amnesia, guys. Remembering things is not personality death.
>>30885900Not the anon, but that does bring up the following. Is death the end of the mind or the body?
>>30885899>>30885900This. Exactly this. She has a literal chance for a second beginning, and you want to kill it?
>>30885920The Companion killed her once already. Not Alice.
>>30885924The body.Amnesiac people are not to be held responsible for past misdeeds, though. Moral responsibility resets.>>30885931So by your logic, Alice should have gotten mindwiped instead of fighting back against the companions.
>>30885896I kind of agree with this anon, her soul is already warped>>30885899True but considering all the shit Alice has done such as killing their common friends, it will be hard
>>30885920The companion did that to her. Not alice.
>>30885918It seems like she was reset to before she was MG. Personally, I think that's the best for her and Alice to a degree.
>>30885924The mind.Brain dead is a thing for reasons.
>>30885978The brain is not the mind. The brain is the body. The mind is a phenomenal result of the body.
>>30885960>>30885947Fine, but the "new" personality isn't Mirai. It's Mirai's body not whoever we knew.
>>30885924It's both. People change their entire lives. Both body and mind. Her body is the same, but with a different mind. Not everybody gets a second chance.>>30885954Do you think this is easy for Alice? Having to fight her former compatriots? Do you think, in her darkest moments, she just wants to walk away from this war? People fight for a reason. For a cause. For their homeland. Their family. Alice fights to end this war. And Maria is the first people out of hopefully many that can walk away.
>>30885995Exactly its not the old mirai now.To bring the old mirai back we need to kill the girl who is now mirai.
>>30885689"What's in it or you, then?" You glare at Loki, talking about memories and human lives as if they were just playthings. "What benefit do you get out of this whole thing?""You of all people should know that I like to test the boundaries of what is commonly accepted." Loki grins as he paces forward. "Why did I choose you and only you as a candidate? Why did I never condition to the same extent as the others? I wanted to see what you would occur. Similarly, we're treading into unknown territory here. You cannot imagine how impossibly fascinated at how I'm in all respects dead, yet still existing in some form in your very mind. The implications of this are simply groundbreaking!""Wait, so you're doing this all just as one big experiment?" You blink. "Even me?""The entire concept of Life is an experiment." Loki explains. "Since the first living organism was spawned, all existence was determined by its ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions. Those that innovate, survive. Those that don't, well...""What the fuck...""What I'm saying is, you're my greatest creation, Alice, and I want to find ways to make you better."Oh god he was like Egan except with less ethics and empathy, if that was even possible.>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.>Other
>>30886011But which is worse? Keeping a friend dead? Or trading that for someone who simply looks like our friend but isn't?
>>30886022>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.Loki, takes some human ethics classes.
>>30886022>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.Yeah no fucking way.
>>30886022>>Other"I'll think about it."Get out.
>>30886008Walking away is allowing the enemy to have that much more an advantage. There has NEVER been an opportunity to gain the information that is locked inside Mirai's mind. She must remember.>>30886022>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.See? He's just doing this for science. We need this info and there is no logical reason to not pursue it. Many emotional arguments, but no logical ones.
>>30886022>Yeah, no. No way this is happening. We really need to find a way to pull this fucker out of our head.
>>30886022>>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying. Also, Merc, give it five minutes and then call a showdown vote, samefagging is going to happen.
>>30886022>>Yeah, no. No way this is happening. Not even Egan would do this.>>30886039She died. Let the dead rest. Let the new girl have her life.
>>30886022>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.
>>30886039Old Mirai killed people. She will die regardless for murder/war crimes. New Mirai is as innocent as a newborn baby.
>>30886070Not even Egan would restore somebody's memories? What?
>>30886022>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.>OtherI'm not dragging Mirai back into this war. She is the only person I truly saved, and I'm not reversing it. Come back with a better deal. And incase you didn't get the message. [double finger] Fuck off.
>>30886022>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.>NTR nowchtWhy do you want that cap...
>>30886022>>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.
>>30886022>>OtherI am less concern about Mirai than Kanako. What can you do to help her?

>>30886022>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.>>30886103Mention this too, no matter what the outcome.
>>30886022>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.Fuck it, I want answers, and there are more lives at stake than just Mirai's.
>>30886022 >>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.
>>30886103Good point about this. Ask about Kanako? How can we reverse this? How can we track down and capture her companion?
>>30886022>>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.I don't know what to think
>>30886118This. Put the lives of the soldiers under our command before the innocence of one girl.
>>30886022>>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.go to hell mutant bastard cat you
>>30886118It's a soldier's duty to protect the weak and innocent and preserve the reason they are fighting. Doing this to Mirai goes against all of that.We can get answers. We do this the right way, by capturing a live companion.
>>30886154A soldier's duty is to win wars at a minimum cost of human life.It is not to be a moralfaggot and ensure that every boo-boo is kissed and every child remains innocent.
>>30886143You know its the other way around right? They FIGHT to protect those who cannot. Ask any servicemen if they would sacrifice a little girl.
>>30886022>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.Seems legit.
>>30886022>I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.>>30886154And prolonging this war just to keep some memories away from Mirai is a gross dereliction of duty. Mirai won't even die.
>>30886022I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.
>>30886154It just comes down to the age old debate, how much is a life worth? How many soldiers is a barely their girl worth?
>>30886170A girl's life? Sure. A girl's innocence? We all lose that some time. No soldier will die to preserve someone's worldview.
>>30886022>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.
>>30886022>>Yeah, no. No way this is happening.fuck no
>>30886022Okay, I'm going to call for revote. Link and number only, you've got five minutes.1. I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.2. Yeah, no. No way this is happening.
>>30886226Just don't bother with the safefagging. Just don't.
>>30886170The little girl with a rifle that shot the balls of your comrade? Mirai killed soldiers and you know what soldiers think of spooks.
>>30886235>1. I don't like it, but I do get what you're saying.
>>30886166And doing this at the cost of the damn reason you're fighting defeats the purpose. Winning the battles but losing the damn war.>>30886174That is up to command to decide.>>30886183Soldiers already signed their papers, said their oath. They're already dead. Now it's to them to both win the war and accomplish the objectives of the war. End the war and don't intentionally harm the innocent.
>>30886241Number only, man.>>30886235Can we ask about Kanako no matter what wins?
>>30886277Yes, I will include that.
>>30886277That too.And just to let you guys know, the people that voted 1 are monsters. That is all.
>>30886308I regret nothing. Welcome back, Mirai!
>>30886308That's nice honey.
I want to point out we are getting the same number of votes in this revote as the previous one that required the revote.
>>30886308My conscience is clear.
>>30886289Dammit Merc, so their officially dating.
>>30886308Sorry I don't think the "life" of one new born girl is worth the dozens or hundreds it might save.
>>30886341This. Anyone who thinks this intel isn't worth it is thinking with their heart rather than their head.
>>30886343Voting period is over.
>>30886328It's nice we can be so polite.>>30886335At least we won't get cries of samefaggotary.>>30886341I fucking hate the mentality. There is no guarantee we are actually saving anybody. Just killing more people.>>30886345Intel can be gathered other ways.
>>30886378>At least we won't get cries of samefaggotaryActually.. even more than the previous choice. So much for samefag protection.
>>30886368Damn it, it was so close.
>>30886378And you'd rather sit on a possible source and more than likely let those people die. I'll take that responsibility or I'd think I would and that life would weigh on me till I died. But if one life saved even one other innocent, I'd probably call it even.
>>30886368I count 12-10Either way, 1 wins
>>30886431So much this. After Loki admitted he was only doing this for science, 2 had absolutely no legs to stand on.
Ok wait, what is Loki going to do again? It seems that we are just gonna shuffle through Mirai's memory, not bringing it back.
>>30886389>The option I wanted didn't get chosen, despite the votes being incredibly close>Must be samefagsIt's nice to be able to pin all your problems on an invisible bogeyman, eh?
>>30886443We're going to enter her mind and restore her memory.Possibly in our old magical girl outfit.
>>30886452Please read.I just said we have more votes than the previous choice that required the revote.Doesn't that even spike your curiosity?
>>30886437Yeah, I was hesitant, but it's very easy to predict a creature who only does things out of scientific curiosity. I'm not saying trust him, but at least hear him out.Remember, his name is still Loki. Trusting him with more than is absolutely necessary would be completely stupid.
>>30886452Even merc is baffled by revote having more votes
>>30886469(Not the anon)Lurkers who wanted to take part?
>>30886431That's the fucking trap. You keep sacrificing and sacrificing, never actually asking if you are doing the right thing or actually saving anybody. You somehow put the responsibility on your self to sacrificing, not asking if it's actually necessary.>>30886437Oh, so are we fucking taking Loki at his word? Then he will be like, "Oh, I had no fucking clue *this* would happen"
>>30886476Oh, we definitely shouldn't trust him, because he'll probably goad us into betraying our friends for power or something. But, in this instance, he wants us to be as combat effective as possible.
>>30886469Not really. There was only 13 minutes between regular voting and number voting, so people might well have just arrived. It happens.

Can anything be done about her?""Ah, well... that would be a bit more difficult." Loki blinks. "To put it in an understandable analogy, Mirai is like a blank slate while Kanako is a canvas of distorted scribbles. It's much easier to work with the former than the latter, since I do not doubt Kanako would be aware of our attempted intrusion and attempt to fight us off. But yes, it is possible to erase her programming.""I see..." You frown."Again, I await to see what you do! >>30886511"Hey Egan." You speak up."Hm? Yes?""You know, speaking totally hypothetically, could shooting up Mirai with Companion Juice bring back her memories?"You decide not to mention Loki to Egan. After all, Bruttenholm had told you to keep that a secret between you two."Hmmmm...." Egan pauses. "It's certainly possible. Considering the Juice reactivates one dormant magical circuits, and memories apparently have a close association with magic... it's certainly worth a shot.""Scientifically or ethically?""Scientifically, of course." Egan shrugs.Well, that didn't do much to calm you. "Well, thanks anyways, Egan." You sigh as you make your way to Bruttenholm's office."Ah, Alice, we have much to discuss!" >>30886939Oh yeah, that's a good point.
>>30886939Add the motives to:>>30886928
>>30886939>>30886958>>30886972>>30886983Just to be sure, we mean the "for science" motive he claims, and the overall "make us stronger" motive.
I'd like to suggest a compromIse to The procedure.Loki needs the mg to have a link to her powers to do the unscrambling. He also said as much, let us do the procedure on kanako. We can descramble her brain, add her as an ally and get the intel she knows. It will be harder but it solves the problem of having to rehabilitate her as well and we dont need companion juice since she still has her powers. We also dont need to sacrifice the littlest girl so quickly. Shes still there as an option if this fails.
>>30887005Right, but there's undoubtly a hidden plot behind that. For now, he just wants survival of the fittest.Which honestly, he might feel is the Invaders as well as us.>he tries to get his claws in Carol
>>30887005Hmm...by "make us stronger" does he mean create an omniscient being?
>>30887045>>30887049It's his nebulous "reasoning". Remember to take everything he says as a half-truth, and *when* he screws us he'll say "I told you so". The best we can do is brainstorm the possible ways he can screw us.
>>30887083Well, right now we can say that there is no way is he to be allowed influence over Carol or the Apocalypse Hybrid. The latter needs a name
>>30887040I would be ok to do it on kanoko first.
>>30887083The best thing I can think of is Alice no longer being human anymore, physically and mentally.
>>30887107And yet people are either desperate enough or dumb enough to take this offer. >nameApocalypse Maiden?>>30887124That actually may be a better idea. She is struggling against her brainwashing.
>>30887128Maiden would be an okay name.
>>30887126We are already post-human, but you're thinking too small. I suspect Loki is playing the long game here, possibly something that transcends the war on earth.
>>30887172Okay then, the next on my list is Alice transcending into Godhood.
>>30887172I'll have to agree with this. He might think that this war will make humanity stronger and that Alice is a harbinger of some kind of super-magical girl. And that vision of the future might not be as nice as it sounds. As for who we should try the mental fix on, it should be Mirai. She's described as a blank state and the easier fight. Kanako will be hard. Trust the GM"s wording on this one.
>>30887180Well, she won't be the first magical girl to do so. or the second one>>30887195Just saying ethically speaking, Kanako is cleaner because she is actively fighting her brainwashing.
>>30887195Mirai doesn't really need it, she is fine as is, a newborn baby. Kanako however is urgent, she is stuggling, and i dont know, spawn yamato in space?
>>30886897"Well, how did the meeting with the Council go?" You ask."Not good." Bruttenholm sighed. "After everything we have witnessed these past few months, we've come to one unavoidable conclusion. The Magical Girls are no longer the scattered remnants we initially believed them to be. They are now highly organized, with a support structure behind them, seeing as how they are now conducting offensive operations in numbers previously unseen since the War.""Yeah, that's not good." You frown. "What does the Council think we should do?""Our belief is that Nypaver is acting as the Magical Girls' support network." Bruttenholm explains. "The Council is already drafting a declaration pronouncing him a traitor to humanity. However, they will not act on it until we are absolutely sure Nypaver is guilty. Circumstantial evidence is not enough. We need concrete facts. That means intelligence gathering.""Ah." You nod. "I actually have an idea...""You don't sound very enthusiastic about it." Bruttenholm frowns."That's because it's actually Loki's." You say meekly. "Why would he want to help us?" Bruttenholm blinks."He claims he's wants to see how we react, and well as make me stronger.""I see..." Bruttenholm frowns. "What does it entail?""That we either shoot up Mirai or Kanako with Companion Juice. Then I initiate some sort of mental connection with them.""I see..." Bruttenholm nods. "While I have serious ethical concerns about it, it does seem like a much better alternative to the current plan.""Which is?"(cont)
>>30887211No, that's not how it works. Mirai is still Mirai, she's just forgotten some very important information.
>>30887224"That we will have to send Carol to infiltrate Nypaver's island." Bruttenholm says solemnly."What, WHY?!?""You must have known this would happen. It's why we gave her mutagenic powers in the first place, to improve both her capabilities as a combat platform and an infiltrator. There's no way we can safely insert a human agent onto the island, at least not without tipping anybody off.""So it's either subject my friend to an experiment, or risk Carol's life." You seethe."Unfortunately, yes. The Council was very specific in what they wanted." Bruttenholm sighs.>We'll go with Loki's plan.>We'll go with the Council's plan.>Other

>>30887237>OtherShe needs more training as an infiltrator, she is more of an assault type at the moment. The Council's plan is flawed.
>>30887237>We'll go with Loki's plan.Is Carol ready for infiltration?
>>30887237The Council's plan is a terrible idea, MG can sense Carol she'll be spot right away.>we'll go with Loki's plan
>>30887237>We'll go with the Council's plan. You know... This is what she was made for. Hell, people said we needed to be ready for this in this these threads.Plus I get a feeling we could play as Carol and that sounds fun.
>>30887259>>30887261These guys raise good points and questions.
>>30887237>We'll go with Loki's plan.
>>30887267Yeah. Not sure how the Council thought this is a good idea.
>>30887237>>We'll go with Loki's plan.
>>30887237>>We'll go with Loki's plan.Do it on kanoko.Shes suffering and we're in a position to help her and gain an ally.If this works with mirai, we still need to do it on kanoko as well so we might as well try on kanoko first. Also lastly, I believe loki specifically mentioned mirai for a reason. He wants it to be done on her for some reason instead of kanoko. Maybe he'll expend less energy with an easier target? If so, lets not gi e him what he wants. We give him a different taget to perform the proceedure on.
>>30887269If we play as Carol, I'd be fine with it. But I don't feel she would succeed without guidance.
>>30887299These are good reasons. Supporting.
>>30887299Kanako is more difficult and anyone who says that Mirai is a different person doesn't know how the brain works. Are you a different person because you forgot where your keys are? No. Of course not. And the same is true if you forget everything about yourself, which by the way you do every night when you dream.
>>30887315To force someone to change is worse than helping someone that's actively asking for it.
>>30887237>We'll go with Loki's plan.FUAAAAARK this choice
>>30887332We're helping her remember. We're not forcing her to be a new person, we're fixing who she was.
>>30887315The path of least resistance is not always the right choice. We'll be walking right into loki's potential trap if we follow exactly what he wants. And no. A person who forgets their keys is not a different person. Someone who forgets every experience that made them who they are is a different person.
>>30887237>We'll go with Loki's plan.Hahahaha
>>30887339Do we have her consent in this? Is it even possible to get her consent in this? I don't know.

>>30887350Memories are a very small part of our conscious experience and, as forgetting where your keys are shows, your conscious experience continues even after memory loss.>but opinions could changeSo? Opinions change naturally over time.
>>30887237"The the Council has no fucking clue what they're doing." You scowl. "Carol's nowhere near ready for something like that!""The Council only sees Carol as an asset, not your daughter." Bruttenholm sighs. "All they see are specifications on a piece of paper, and they base their decisions off of that. Yes, Carol certainly has the capability of the performing the mission, but does she have that capability right now? It's questionable.""I'd rather go through with Loki's plan." You bite your lip."If that's what you feel is the better path." Bruttenholm sighs. "I suppose you should talk to Mirai about this.""Yeah..." You nod."I'll arrange transport for you to her care facility right away. You can go right now, unless there's anything else you wish to take care of.">No, I'll leave right now.>Actually, I still need to [specify].>Other

>>30887378>>other"Can Egan supervise? I'd feel much better with her there.">>30887404Yes, this.
>>30887404Yes, let's go with Kanako.
>>30887378>No, I'll leave right now.I still don't get why everyone is arguing for going with Mirai. If anything her getting her memories back will be traumatic.I say we go with Kanako, Partially to screw with Loki, and partially because she's going nuts, and this could help.
>>30887378>>30887418Can we get both Egan and Leo along?Moral support and all that.
>>30887378>>No, I'll leave right now.
>>30887404>>30887413>>30887423>>30887426Hey guys, I have a suggestion. We should try the "soft" approach we were afraid of doing earlier. Trying make her avoid thinking about us and about the gaps and differences in memories. Try to find a creak to manually unravel the brainwashing.Even if we fail or we accidently break her mind instead, then we have the Loki method anyways.
>>30887457No, if she breaks then that makes her outright hostile.I think this is going to be a mental battle, like in Psychonauts. Kanako is the hard level, Mirai is the easy level. But hey, it looks like I'm out voted on who, so the only thing that matters is winning.Just come in prepared for a fight against a serious mental immune system. Probably want to think of some good times Alice and Kanako shared together.
>>30887457I think we have only one shot at this, given how long Kanako has already been struggling with this. We should have tried the soft approach at the beginning of this quest but we backed off.
>>30887477Well the good thing is that we have 2 magical girls to try this on. Might as well try the harder one first.
Hmm, never seen this around before, looks good.
>>30887378"No, I'll go right now." You sigh."I understand." Bruttenholm nods.Within a few minutes, you're dropping back down to Earth on a reentry shuttle. Settling in the for the ride, you try to get comfortable."I see you're going along with my proposal." You hear Loki's voice.Crap, you must've dozed off again."I'm just exploring possibilities." You grunt. "Anyways, can't I just go do this on Kanako? Wouldn't it achieve the same thing, and help her out as well?""Well, there's nothing stopping you." Loki says playfully. "Though it would be much riskier. To put it bluntly, your relationship with Kanako isn't as close as you are to Mirai. Fewer mutual memories and experiences to anchor yourself to. Combine the fact that Kanako's mind is in turmoil, it could become very dangerous for the both of you. But if you were to have Mirai with you...">Yeah, yeah, I understand.>You're up to something, aren't you?>Other

>>30887500>Mirai will never forgive me for killing Joanna.
>>30887525Thats not merc, thats loki. Have to get it right.
>>30887537Merc writes Loki. The GM and NPCs are the same. GMs give hints through NPCs, like how yesterday in Idol quest several NPCs told the players to make their own fucking decisions rather than delegating it to the boss all the time.
>>30887500>>You're up to something, aren't you?
>>30887525A. Stop metagamingB. This is Loki speakingC. Sometimes we have to do the hard thing instead of the easy thing. Also, we can still do Mirai afterwards.
>>30887553Loki just gave several valid reasons as to why Kanako should not be done first and you just ignore them out of stubbornness.Take a fucking hint and realize that we should test out an unproven method on the easiest possible subject.
>>30887548And yet loki is not merc.Hes his own character and motivations. Everything he tells us is painted by what he wants Alice to do. Yes, Mirai may be easier but that is not going to be whole truth.
>>30887571Or maybe it is, and he legitimately just wants to go the easiest route first.Just playing Devil's Advocate.
>>30887580And by playing devil's advocate you go into a path that wholeheartedly trusts what loki says. The race that manipulated the entire MG corp of the world into fighting mankind.
>>30887571As Loki said, Mirai is easier because we have a better relationship with her and thus are less likely to be kicked out. There is no hidden plot in doing Mirai first. Arguably there is in having Mirai help out with Kanako, but that's a matter for later.
>>30887569Ok, assuming we can take Loki on his word, then I got the hint. But I will choose Kanako first, out of moral reasons. So go right ahead, call me a moralfag. I dare you.
>>30887500>Yeah, yeah, I understand.Even if he is up to something, we can't risk it. Besides, we're in this deep, no sense going back now.
How did we kill Loki initially? Come home one day and just slit its throat without talking to it?

>>30887611Shot him when he was giving his speech on why fight against mankind.
>>30887500>Yeah, yeah, I understand.
>>30887500"You're up to something, aren't you?" You narrow your eyes."Of course I am! We all have our agendas." Loki chuckles. "Just like how you're largely motivated because the alternative would put your adopted daughter a risk."Ouch, that fucking stung, but the cat had a point."I want to see this 'power of friendship' you all like to boast about. Can it be objectively measured? Observed? These are things I would like to know.""Fucking cat." You shake your head. "Fine, I'll take your word, for now.""I can ask of nothing less. It's your mistrust that set you apart from the others, after all!"Your eyes then jolt open as the shuttle lands. Wasting no time, you disembark and board the car waiting for you on the tarmac, which takes you straight to the private care facility Mirai was being kept at.Mirai looked... good, actually. She was wearing some casual clothes, unlike the hospital gown you would've expected her to be wearing. Her eyes widen in surprise when she sees you waiting in the lobby for you."Oh! Alice, was it? It's nice to see you!" She waves happily. "What brings here?""Mirai..." You pause and bite your lip. "How do you feel about getting your memories back? What would you do if you had the chance?""I'd take it." Mirai said without missing a beat."Wait... what?" You blink. "Really? Even if those memories end up being painful for you?"(cont)
>>30887744AND SUDDENLY, THE MORAL CONFLICT VANISHES
>>30887744"I... I really don't know if you could understand this, but... it just feels like I'm missing something." Mirai sighs. "My whole life is a blank, as if I never existed a month ago. If they say people are products of their past experiences.... what does that make me?""You're Mirai.""No, I'm somebody you keep calling Mirai." She sighs. "That name... every time you say it it sounds like you're talking to somebody very important to you, but... every time I hear it there's... nothing. I don't FEEL anything. No warmth, no familiarity, and it just hurts, to know that I used to be somebody important to someone else. So yes, I'd take my memories back. All of them, if I had the chance, even if they would hurt me. I'm already hurting NOW."You pause to consider this. Even when amnesiac, she was still her stubborn, idealistic self.
