You have to admit, this night Tia really behaved herself. She was still clingy as all hell, but she apparently decided that you needed some actual rest, rather than a sleepless marathon through the night and far into the morning. It was a bit hard to breathe though, with her huddled to you like you were an oversized hug pillow. The sun dawns on the clear blue sea, parting the morning clouds and the shadows hanging on the archipelago. You, Tia and Mikahil rise form the sands of the northern beaches of Tianna Island, well-rested and ready to face the day. After a quick breakfast (consisting of Tia bringing back a couple of wild rabbits after a short hunt), you begin to make plans."I don't really know where to find these pirates you're looking for." Mikahil points out, looking outwards, towards the many atolls and isles that litter the horizon. "But I'm pretty sure they're based on hideouts and havens on these islands somewhere, probably multiple of them. Tianna doesn't have a lot of commerce: they mostly operate from here to prey on shipping in Wavecrest, further north and west. Small pickings.""I guess there aren't many rich trade ships carrying loads of spices, gems, silver or silk around these parts." You consider, remembering that Wavecrest is not a very rich nation."Those are further north, usually centered around Coral. That's the turf of big-shot pirates, some of them even Exalted." He explains. "Down here, you'll find those more risk-averse, the ones forced out of the north by threats or competition, or the ones just starting out. There aren't any large, powerful military fleets around here, after all.""What do they prey on, here?"
"The truly desperate harass fishing vessels for food and pocket change. The others? Ore barges, liquors, shells and dyes, and trinkets from Wavecrest's artisans. Food and lumber shipments. Exotic wood. The lucky ones hit pearls, coral and mother-of-pearl crafts, worked metal and tools: the trade to and from the Realm. These are usually better-defended. The ships themselves are also good money when sold." He explains. "How are we going to do this?">Ask Tia to carry you (by sea)>Ask Tia to carry you (by air)>Ask Mikahil to take charge>Try and make a raft>Swim>Wait

>>30687291>Is is possible to get to a port back in the city and take a merchant ship out to sea as bait?Yes, but then Mikahil would question your sanity, since it was Maka who wanted to come here on the shore with no boat and no plan rather than head back to town and grab a ship.

>>30687046So. Maka just spent all day riding TiaHorse bareback.Maka wears no panties nor anything covering her crotch from below.Maka just spent a whole day grinding her Solar pussy against Tia's pulsing muscled horseback. No wonder it was a "Comfortable" ride.
>>30687709Anon, thank you for that, I hand't chuckled that hard for a while
>>30687709I was gonna comment on how that shit chafes like mad and she'd probably be in agony from doing that, but then I remembered she's not exactly as frail as a human so...probably went down like that, yeah.
"...Can you fly, Tia?" You ask her. By now, it wouldn't surprise you."Yes." She nods, looking very proud."...And carry me and Mikahil?"The Eclipse seems nervous at the idea, but Tia nods again. "I can carry you both no problem.""We'd draw a lot of attention." He notes. but Tia is already transforming under your eyes. Arms stretch and sprout feathers, the neck bends and shifts, the head changes shape...Mikahil was probably expecting a roc or a majestic giant eagle or something like that.Once the transformation is complete, a huge, ash-colored vulture caws at you."I, uh." He mumbles, moments before Tia leaps on tour back, grasping your dress with her claws, and lifts you up with large, powerful wing flaps. She brings you hovering over Mikahil, and you grab him from behind as the three of you take flight. He doesn't seem to enjoy the experience. You slowly pick up altitude, gaining a literal bird's eye view of the archipelago. From up there, you see several things that draw your attention. The closest island, roughly triangular in space, has sandy, pleasant-looking shores, and a small wooden dock built on one side. There is a small village inland. Some fields with crops, a tiny settlement.Further west, a larger isle sports some woodland and a bay that looks like a very safe harbor. You spot two ships there. If there are buildings on the island, you can't see them from this angle. To the north, a single, small ship sails eastwards. It has a junk-type sail, something uncommon in the west. It's probably not from these parts. And east of you, near another large island, there is a chase in progress, with a large merchant ship fleeing from a smaller but more agile sailing vessel maneuvering against it.>Check the small village on triangle island>Check the bay with two ships anchored>Check the junk north of you>Check the ship being chased to the east>Check the ship doing the chasing to the east

>>30687782>Check the ship doing the chasing to the eastI'm sure they won't mind us dropping by!
>>30687782>Check the ship doing the chasing to the eastConsidering that villages tend to stay where they are (Sidereal shenanigans aside), we should check out the possible pirate ship first. The junk is interesting but not quite our priority. Unless someone disagrees.
>>30687821Relocating villages isn't shenanigans because the Sidereal in question is going to get his (or her) colon prolapsed by audits from their bosses. Also Paradox. A whole fuck ton of Paradox....that might not be the right word. "Fate Spider Angryness"?
>>30687830Um, 'shenanigans' is just a catch all term for 'doing something' No need to read too much into it, it was just an off the cuff quip. There's also the fact that moving a little village, even without the proper paperwork, is 'only' a severity 3 offense.
Tia swings you by the two ships, hovering about one hundred meters above the smaller one. It's a slender two-masts, with no rowers, and a fairly large crew for its size it seems. A black flag with a red shark flaps from its highest mast. The crew is looking up, fairly astonished at your presence. They seem all well-armed, and judging by their equipment it seems fair to assume that these are, in fact, pirates! Score. On their part, they're basically dropping their chase, mostly because, well, a man being carried by a half-naked woman being carried by a giant vulture is fairly distracting. The other ship, though a bit slower, is giving them the slip.>Drop Mikahil on the deck.>Drop Mikahil on the deck, follow him.>Tell Tia to land on the deck.>Aerial Dropkick a pirate.>Aerial Dropkick the ship.>Tell Tia to fly low, call out to them (say what?)>Other?

>>30687046Oh, hey, we did pick up Majestic Radiant Presence. I want to save up, now, to 10 to see if we can get Tiger Warrior Training Technique under Dawn (super-fast training montage boot camp for anyone we teach; can turn a fishing village into Seal Team 6 in a matter of weeks), some kind of spirit-punching charm under Twilight, or a Bureaucracy-based leadership charm under Eclipse. Thoughts, other players?
>>30687914>Aerial Dropkick a pirate.Gotta make an impression!More of one I mean.
>>30687914>Aerial Dropkick a pirate.Use Iron Kettle Body! Time to kick ass!

>>30687914>Drop Mikahil on the deck, follow him.First, dropping him is funny. Second, let's not lead with the punching, but work our way up to the punching if the talking doesn't work. (i doubt it will)
>>30687954>Implying we're battling and not just making an entrance
>>30687938I thought about that, but it is kind of pain in the ass. I would rather get what we most need in the immediate future. Do we need that soul punch charm for the Raksha?
>>30687954Solar Hero Style would be a waste of essence since they can't hurt us anyway with Iron Kettle Body.
>>30687960>>30687969It's still worth the flashy entrance. A superhumanly perfect drop kick should really drive in how much they ought to be surrendering. That and we don't know whether or not they might have an Enlightened Essence martial artist on board.
>>30687914>Aerial Dropkick a pirate.Time for some shock therapy.
>>30687961>Do we need that soul punch charm for the Raksha? No, but we might need it for wayward spirits and DEFINITELY need it for ghosts of all kinds. The alternatives, as I see it, are Tiger Warrior Training Technique (which is very important because it would actually let us properly utilize recruited mooks) or a Bureaucracy-based leadership charm (which is very important for leading the mooks we're actually utilizing, especially for non-combat purposes). After all, aside from hitting immaterial things, I think we're solid on combat for the time being. Between Talking to the Heart and Majestic Radiant Presence we also have social stuff covered, at least for the moment. That leaves 'improving people' and 'leading people' as the primary things we want to focus on.After all, we're currently good at recruiting/talking to people, good at surviving/winning fights, and good at dismissing hordes of Creature of Darkness mooks, but we don't have anything that actually makes us a better leader. We should fix that. That or pick up a spirit-punch.That's what I think, anyway. Thoughts, other players?
>>30688027A-actually don't listen to me since I'm not rational and will vote Hardship-Surviving Spirit as soon as possible. That or up Zenith.
>>30688060Ah. Those are important to take too, but I think expanding our repertoire to be able to actually fight ghosts/spirits/demons properly, actually able to utilize the people we attract to our cause, and actually able to lead people directly are more urgent.Once we have those bases covered, I'm 100% on board for more Zenith things.
"Well, how do you plan to persuade them to join your causeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEee" you drop Mikahil and gently pat on Tia's legs, and she lets go of you.Your landing, a few seconds later, is impeccable, dropkicking a deck-hand through the wooden boards of the main deck and into the cargo hold. You find yourself surrounded by an array of bandits, le'er-do-goods, brigands, ruffians and generally unpleasant people, armed with a variety of weapons and instruments of harm. They are mostly clothed like seamen, which means little armor and favoring colorful clothing and headgear. Ethnically, they seem very diverse, with some having Realm or even eastern traits, and northerners and southerners as well. Their leader seems to be a pure-bred realmer, in fact, judging by his skin tone. You conclude it's him by the way he curses in what you think is Low Realm, then kicks the closest deck-hand in the ass, brandishing a scimitar angrily. "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, YOU DOGS?!" He screams. >>30688423Huh, considering i had a part in voting there...how the hell did i miss that?
Rolled 7>>30688426Honestly, I would just make it a Scenelong effect that lets you use your Appearance modifier that normally applies to your and your enemies MDV apply to normal DVs as well. Seems easy enough. For example, Appearance 5 vs some Appearance 2 normal dudes? +/-3 to all DVs.Of course, that kind of falls apart in this quest, since Appearance isn't a thing.
Rolled 10>>30688449I'd probably let you ignore it by paying Willpower, or it'd be too powerful.
Rolled 6>>30688478>I'd probably let you ignore it by paying Willpower, or it'd be too powerful. That's fair, it would probably be UMI, after all. Maybe ignore +/-1 per Willpower spent? Make it a Lunar Appearance charm?
How does one begin with the exalted universe?
Thinking about it. How about we try to sail the ship by ourselves for a while in order to gain sail charm/powers. Perhaps in this quest there might be Tiger Warrior Training Technique for training sailors instead.
Rolled 7>>30688507>Thinking about it. How about we try to sail the ship by ourselves for a while in order to gain sail charm/powers.Let's hold off on that for a while. Our homeland is a desert and we already have an Eclipse on the ship - not to mention we're trying to make the captain and crew our minions. This is a really solid case of 'let the people working for us handle that.' We don't need to do everything ourselves - we're a leader for a reason. Also, Tiger Warrior Training Technique applies to Sail as well. It's really quite broad and, if combined with the Lore training charm, can teach every Ability in the game.
>>30688507Nah, just delegate sailing to Mikahil. We should pick a role and stick to it. Learning charms with skills that we won't be using or can pawn off on someone else is a waste of xp.

He looks really depressed. After a few seconds of silence (interrupted only by Mikahil climbing out of the water and onboard the ship), he lifts his head, stabs his scimitar into the ship's wooden parapet, and folds his arms resignedly. Rolled 10>>30688967"Additional perk" got covered when they got to see our everything during that first fall. Trying to be seductive now is basically saying, "And if you do well, you get to run a train on me."

Rolled 2>>30689024Right, which adds or suggests the promise of future sexualizing. If we're not planning on ever banging any of them, being seductive is counterproductive. We're trying to have actual authority over our new minions here, not sexually-frustrated sycophants.

Rolled 1>>30689082>maybe add that people that do good can expect promotionsWay too much detail. Don't just start spaghetti-ing information everywhere.
Rolled 4>>30689090really? Because promoting the best instead of the strongest could get us loyal and competent minions
Gem is pretty far inland, we wouldn't be able to support a privateer fleet directly.Maybe if we conquered Harborhead or something.
Rolled 6>>30689100"Promotions" are a useless concept when they're the first ship in our crew. Promotion to what, praytell? We're already offering them a brand new life and lifestyle.>>30689105Sandships are an actual thing in the Southern dunes. Not as common as camel caravans, but a fair bit faster.
Rolled 3>>30689105we could also try and lower the land between Gem and the ocean and make it a port city>>30689116>Promotion to what, praytell?being Enlighened, becoming a Priest in our Cult, being picked for Tiger Warrior Training etc.
Rolled 3>>30689125>being Enlighened, becoming a Priest in our Cult, being picked for Tiger Warrior Training etc.None of which is relevant information at the moment since we can't Enlighten people yet, don't have a Cult, and don't have Tiger Warrior Training Technique. You know what they call making promises you don't - and might never - have the means to provide? They call that a lie - or, at best, irrelevant.
Rolled 8>>30688900>Whatever I tell you to>Worship me
Rolled 8>>30689125>we could also try and lower the land between Gem and the ocean and make it a port cityWell, let's see here. Gem is about... 1500 miles from the coast in a volcanic mountain range with equal parts desert and arable well-lived coastline and plains between them. So, we would only need to kill/displace a few million people to do that.Basically what I'm saying is that's fucking retarded.
Rolled 4>>30689143>Basically what I'm saying is that's fucking retarded. But it's possible.Do you think it'd be easier to cause a Wyld Incursion and use Wyld shaping to do it?
Rolled 4>>30689134Pretty much.Talking about things we cannot do right now and being seductive is a waste of time. They already relented on doing whatever we want. Now we need to be a firm autocrat and not a cajoling thing.
>>30689151Everything is possible, we could head out tomorrow to the realm and attempt to take control of the defense grid. It's possible after all.
Rolled 5>>30689151I think it would get the entire Realm, the entire Bureau of Destiny, and a number of other Solar and Lunar exalts out to murder us. And, despite being both an exalt and a protagonist, that's not something we can survive.Oh, and despite being technically possible, it's functionally impossible without some First Age infrastructure to handle that level of landscape reshaping. It would be easier to just get our pirates a sandship.
Rolled 8>>30689143I think I remember seeing some (homebrew?) charms for Kimbery charms for that. We just have to somehow befriend one and convince him to help us
I thought we already had a big argument about trying to conqueror Gem last session. While Gem is rich in resources, the main reason why people want to get it is because of metagaming reasons. How about we just focus on fortifying and entrenching ourselves in the west so we don't get wyld hunted or killed when the abyssals come back.
Rolled 3>>306891721. By canon, Green Sun Princes are secret. Unlike what happened with Thorns and the Mask of Winters, they haven't had a 'coming out' moment yet.2. We're not doing with with Akuma.3. Lintha are the main dudes in Creation well-known for using Kimbery charms, and they are fairly solidly our enemies.
Rolled 1>>30689176>get it is because of metagaming reasons.I think most reasons NOT to want it are metagaming reasons
Rolled 3>>30689176>While Gem is rich in resources, the main reason why people want to get it is because of metagaming reasons. No, the main reason we want to get it is because that's the country we're actually royalty of. Maka is a queen who's been exiled from Gem, her homeland. Obviously we're going to focus on Tianna for the first arc of the game - there's a ton to do here, and it's where our current allies need help. But we are going back to Gem eventually.
>>30689185Most people don't want it because of common knowledge reason AKA it's in the middle of nowhere and is entirely dependent on the food area with a realm affiliated city state
>>30689189This + we don't really have anything to tie us to Gem OOC. IC Maka probably has friends and enemies and an actual emotional attachment to the place, but we don't know anything about that.

"How can we possibly face those enemies?" Someone asks."With me leading you? You can. I'll make sure of it." You explain."In any case, I won't expect you to do anything impossible or unreasonable."The captain lifts his hat and scratches his head. "...I wonder what counts as reasonable or unreasonable for you.""I have no interest in losing a valuable crew of loyal followers." You reassure him. "By the way, You're going to stay the captain. I don't have any experience in sailing. What you say?""I'll have to put this to the vote of the crew." He says. "Alright, boys. What do you think?"The crew gathers 'round and begins to talk, sneaking glances at you.Mikahil reaches your side, still dripping wet. "How did it go?""Fairly okay." You reply. "They're voting.""I'll stay in backup if you don't mind. I don't really want to get involved" He says. The pirate captain returns to you. "The crew of the Bloodshark accepts to pledge their loyalty to you.""Bloodshark?" You wonder. "That's the ship's name?""Aye." He takes his hat off. That's a problem to deal with, not a threat to avoid. For example, it means we should probably work with a volcano god and a farming god to make the volcanic hills arable and nice. We already have one such god as an ally, so we've already made progress on that front.Saying 'fuck Gem' is just throwing away Maka's characterization because her homeland is inconvenient. We should be accepting the problems of Gem and working to fix them, not casting aside our protagonist's past entirely.

>>30689436Except for UCS telling us to do well and he'll give us the Mandate. That's kinda important.
Rolled 5>>30689436>Except Gem has no water to spare for farming it's in the middle of a fucking desert near the elemental pole of fire. It's actually easy enough to get the right kind of god or sorcery to create springs of water - or even volcanic hotsprings - even in the deep South. That's another problem to fix, not something to make us just avoid the place. And it's still our damn home, and we're still - even now - calling ourselves Queen of Gem. So it is, absolutely, throwing away our characterization.
>>30689436What are trading posts and land trade routes? There is almost nothing from the Tribes to Gem. The Silent Crescent tribes are in the north bit of that forest to the west, we could probably go past it and set up farming settlements

I know I'm not from the West. I'm recruiting you for a reason." You reply."Not all pirates like each other. Actually, we all pretty much hate each other's guts. We tolerate each other in harbors because otherwise it'd be an endless bloodbath, but uniting all the pirates of the archipelago is quite ridiculous. They're going to resist.""Well, then we'll sink them." You reply, matter-of-factly. "You know, Amata has long wanted to get rid of the pirates around her island. I decided it would be better to put you to good use, instead. A mutually beneficial relationship.""We can't really challenge all of them with just the Bloodshark, right?" Rolled 3>>30689571This is a blue board. You should delete that before you get banned. And of course it's not - if it was, it would be Azure Bay. The pirate crew will be heading inland for this.
>>30689545"Well, now that ships won't be preyed on as much, we'll have a lot more ability to trade with people, especially in the West. Rolled 5>>30689574That's good too. Honestly, this is a game without cannons, so most of this shit is with ramming and boarding anyway. Most sinking will involve us literally leaping over to the other ship, kicking over their mast, killing their oarmen, and punching a hole in their hull.

You see there is a rather large village built around it."If you play your cards well, you'll have three ships by midday. Maybe a fleet by night." Mikahil notes. Mental + Eclipse: 1 2 4 1 (BOTCH!)"Nonsense." You reply to Mikahil with disdain. "How hard can high sea trading be?"You turn around as he slowly facepalms, called by Rubel. "We're here, boss." He says, as the ship tosses anchor in the shallow bay. This is a pirate haven by every sense of the word it seems: a village of rogues and outcasts built entirely to support raiding activities: growing food, working wood, fencing goods. You and Rubel (and Tia, perched on your shoulder) head down to the docks as his crew hits the alehouses and brothels of the village with glee. "Well, we didn't get that ship in the end, so our cargo hold is empty." He comments. "They'll burn their last bits of silver and the last few cowries they have stashed away today and tonight. We'll have to find another prey tomorrow.""No, it's okay." You reply to him with confidence. "You'll become traders.""Oh." You see a lot of questions passing though his mind as he shifts expressions in front of you. "...I guess? You'll be handling that?"You pat his back. "You will.">Gather information on the two ships>Gather information on fences and merchants>Ask who's the boss in town, go talk to him>Ask who's the boss in town, fight him>Let your crew rest, then board the ships>Board the ships on your own>Gather a crowd, make a proclamation>Other?

Rolled 9>>30690455Oh well as long as YOU brought the protoshinmaic vortex this time. Honestly making me borrow dads every time isn't cool.

>>30690501To be fair, its not entirely out of character. Were probably planning on sticking rubel and mikhail in the same room and seeing what rubel learns.
damn, just joining the thread.Guys, we should concentrate upon meeting as many other Captains as we can instead of going for outright conversions. At most, we should try to convert 1 more ship, maybe 2 if there are a good number of multi-ship pirate fleets. With 2 ships, we'll have a base group to found our navy/privateer force. They can work as a team to bring target/prey/pirate vessels down, and when they begin to prove their success we can later use our prior meetings with the Captains that remain to bring more ships under our banner. It will also hopefully allow is to cherrypick the Captains we want, once we prove that our concept works, and let us minimize logistical problems.

>>30690602A quick introduction to a few Captains and perhaps a Merchant or two couldn't hurt? Worst case, we let them take us captive and Tia shapeshifts at night to free us and take the ship.
>>30690602I agree. We are seriously stretching ourselves here. I regret spending so much essence on only taking over one ship now. Taking over the town would be good if we had the Husband Seducing Demon Dance, but right now I am not sure.
You spend the next half a hour asking questions around. Rubel keeps some distance from you, and you quickly realize why: you're VERY highly visible, due to your dress and attire. The population here is actually mostly women, owing to the old western tradition of "women on land and men at sea".You find out that there are about seven ships, including the Bloodshark, orbiting around this archipelago, plus about as many that stop by occasionally. The two in the bay right now are the Fell-Star and the Black Eye, both fresh of some good haul won in Wavecrest. The Fell-Star is led by a Iohannes Quint, with fame of being strict, harsh but fair. Preys only on Wavecrest shipping for some personal reason, and is known as a fearsome swordsman. The Black Eye is captained by a Yagate Sharktooth, a god-blooded of some power, infamously vicious but with a fiercely loyal crew. He's believed to have some contacts and friends with the Lintha, but nothing solid and proven.>Find and talk with Iohannes>Find and talk with Yagate>Attack the Fell-Star (alone / with the crew?)>Attack the Black Eye (alone / with the crew?)>Gather info on the other pirates of the area>Ask who's the boss in town, go talk to him>Ask who's the boss in town, fight him>Gather a crowd, make a proclamation>Other?

>>30690905>Find and talk with YagateOnly because we have Tia with us. Also Mikhail so far has not done anything and has full essence. Let's bring him with us and then have him sense whether Yagate is an ally of Lintha as we interrogate him. How about that?
>>30690870>Other: speak to the women in town, find out which of them runs what and if the Western tradition means that one of them is in charge. Then>Find and talk to Iohannes
Rolled 1>>30690870>Find and talk with Yagate
Rolled 6So, this is the only time I'm going to mention it, but I think that Maka getting involved with sailing is a terrible idea - and I'll tell you why.Out here in the West, there are goddesses called the Storm Mothers. They're a number of goddesses of ocean storms - big-time badass deities. And they're petty, jealous bitches. If they notice a ship has a woman above decks, they'll usually try to sink it. If she's actually participating in sailing, they're even more likely to sink it. If they're - to make things worse - actually pretty? They're even more likely to sink it. And if they're dressed in a prideful or revealing way? You better hope the Mothers don't notice, because you know they're going to sink it.What does this mean? It means that Maka - a gorgeous, prideful woman who likes to be open and overt - is the death of ships.>"Oh, but anon, if that happens, we'll just beat the Storm Mothers up or have sex until they leave us alone!"The Storm Mothers will kick our shit in. They'll kick in the shit of moderately-experienced Celestial exalts too. Unless you're a big badass who's well-established and properly trained to fight powerful Celestial gods, they WILL kick your shit in. And their jealousy is not the kind that fades with romance - they're just woman-hating bitches. All of those reasons are why I think Maka should be as hands-off and avoidant of sailing as possible. And that's the one and only time I'll bring this up.
>>30690870>Find and talk with Iohannes
>>30690870>Find and talk with Yagate
Rolled 10>>30691065>All of those reasons are why I think Maka should be as hands-off and avoidant of sailing as possible. All valid, I think Maka should be as hands off with this nazy business as possible because thats just not what she's good at, and she shouldnt get in the way of those under her future command who know what they are doing. We recruit a navy and have it work for us, we don't get involved in the nitty gritty and the sailing itself, if we need to deal with the ships we do it when they are docked or we use Tia.
Rolled 8>>30691119Cool. I was worried about coming off as 'no fun allowed,' but this really is the sort of thing we're just plain not equipped to handle, and would really need the strength of an entire empire backing us to start on. The Storm Mothers are a problem not even the Realm has managed to solve, despite their enormous vested interest in it.
Rolled 9>>30690870>Find and talk with YagateDeal with the tricky ones first.>>30691065>>30691119I agree with both of you, just set up the navy and had it off to someone who can actually sail.
>>30691065>Maka can't into spycraft>Maka can't into sailing>Maka likely can't into politic eitherBest leader ever right there
>>30691065>>30691119>>30691152That just means that we'll have to keep the women folk on land and have them be the fixed base traders that take in the goods from our privateers and have another ship send them off to be traded elsewhere. And then Maka created a nation dominated by female merchant queens.
Rolled 10>>30691181No one is perfect, and Maka isn't even a newbie exalt by exalted standards. A Solar straight out of char gen is more powerful than her. Have a little patience, the quest is still getting off the ground.
Rolled 8>>30691181Well, politics are mostly Social + Eclipse for actual schmoozing and bureaucracy, and Social + Zenith for giving speeches, inspiring, and getting people to do what we want. So, yeah, we could use some more Eclipse.>>30691198Legit. Hell, that's probably what Tianna tends towards, with men sailing and fishing and such. It's just important to remember that Maka shouldn't try to participate in the sailing. She's, like, the perfect image of what the Storm Mothers hate.
>>30691211Maka is supposed to be nobility, yet as far as we have acted it's all tits and sex or violence.
>>30687046>physical 3 bobs>doesn't even have muscleReally?
Rolled 6>>30691232>implying that's not what nobility are all about
Rolled 7>>30691232EXILED nobility. Clearly we got usurped for a reason - not enough Mental or Eclipse.
>>30691232>Maka is supposed to be nobility, yet as far as we have acted it's all tits and sex or violenceIt's just like in my HBO series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUBiOOx0Pxw
>>30691244I wish I knew who our family exactly was so I had a better idea of how to act. Gem isn't known to have a stable government.
>>30691244At our age it was probably our parents who were ousted, we just had to go into exile.
Rolled 2>>30691219>So, yeah, we could use some more Eclipse.Eh, i prefer specializing in Zenith and Dawn, just hand off anything we can't handle to underlings. Or else we'll end up with the spectacular botch like the one from before.Besides, it's perfectly in character for her.
>>30691232We do kinda (Comparatively) blow chunks at Eclipse things. Especially Eclipse things based around braining.Zenith are really good at Tits, Sex and Violence but kinda bad at long term planning or economics.
Rolled 3>>30691267I'm not sure about that. She called herself Queen of Gem, not Crown Princess of Gem. That said, her young age helps explain a little, at least, about why she leads more by brash action and raw charisma than by bureaucracy and social etiquette.>>30691261We'll probably find out more as it comes up.>>30691275That's fair, but Eclipse is where we start getting cool leadership charms for buffing our minions and organizations we rule. That's actually incredibly important for anyone who wants to delegate things. For what it's worth, here's my priorities:>Zenith>Dawn&Eclipse>Night>Twilight
>>30691275>just hand off anything we can't handle to underlingsExcept there's nothing we can handle, we have zero talent for anything related to kingdom making.
Rolled 4>>30691295And even more specifically, I want Dawn Training charms, Eclipse Leadership charms, and Zenith Social charms.
>>30691301I've just realized something...we are not going to win at everything aren't we in this quest?
Rolled 8>>30691301Massive hyperbole. With how the different ratings in stuff was described, we're about as good at Mental + Eclipse as your average mortal ruler, and divinely superhuman at Social + Zenith. But as good as an average mortal ruler isn't good enough, obviously, when we're trying to fast-track building up sustainable forces under our leadership.
>>30691295>I'm not sure about that. She called herself Queen of Gem, not Crown Princess of Gem. That said, her young age helps explain a little, at least, about why she leads more by brash action and raw charisma than by bureaucracy and social etiquette.her parents probably got murdered in the whole shebang that led to her exile.
>>30691303Isn't leadership under Dawn? All the 'perfect morale' stuff. With most of the 'Perfect loyalty' stuff being in Zenith.Eclipse is bureaucracy and understanding the court more than leadership. It's the subtle side of politics.
As we're already over 300 posts, could someone give me a summary of how the >Zenith>Dawn&Eclipse>Night>Twilightstuff in >>30691295 works?
Rolled 9>>30691317Of course not. We've just been mainly doing the things we're good at. Now we're stepping into the realm of things we aren't.>>30691325Dawn is about being a General. Perfect morale, battlefield tactics, rapid troop training, and so forth. Zenith is about being a Priest. Giving speeches, convincing people, and building intimacies. Eclipse is about being a Bureaucrat. Managing a court, making trade agreements, giving order that get successfully followed, and making the people working under you more efficient.Leadership is all three of those things, but Maka is having a hardest time with the Eclipse side of it, and she really can't afford to.
Rolled 6>>30691359I vote we take another level in Eclipse ASAP.
Rolled 8>>30691295>>30691301>>30691303My opinion on exalted charm, attribute and ability picking goes like this: Physical, Social, Mental, pick two.In this case, it's Social first, Physical second, and pretty much discarding Mental. What we can do is attract talent, we should do that. We can make deals and do diplomacy with mortals, god and other exalted, we should do that. We can also fight, we should do that as well. But things like administration or investigating or sorcery or stealth are things out of our purview, and that's fine, nobody can do everything alone. It makes for interesting drama.
Rolled 8>>30691354That's just priorities for what I want to invest things in.Zenith (which is what we actually are) is for performance, persuasion, being tough both physically and mentally, and being able to survive anything, anywhere.Dawn is for fighting, tactics, leading troops, and training warriors.Eclipse is for socializing and etiquette, running an organization, languages, and traveling.Night is for speed, acrobatics, and feats of strength, stealth, thievery, dodging, and perception.Twilight is for knowledge both mundane and occult, making things, medicine, and investigation/research.>>30691389Personally, I would rather take a Solar Hero Style/Majestic Radiant Presence type charm which lets us get a +3 to certain actions for a scene. In this case, it would be a +3 to administrating and overseeing actions taken by an organization which we command. So, for example, that means we could apply it to Dawn + Mind for planning tactics for our troops, or to Social + Eclipse for outlining a plan for our future economic model of our country, but not for Dawn + Mind to figure out how to single-handedly break an enemy formation, or to Social + Eclipse to try to make a trade agreement between ourself and the Guild.I think that would be a solid - powerful, admittedly - but balanced charm that would make us much better at just sort of generally being a leader.Thoughts?
Rolled 6>>30691429>Thoughts?You clearly know more about this than I do, so yeah, sure.
>>30691429I'd rather we invest into what we want to pursue, in this case several people wants to be "ruler" So buying eclipse dots would be better.
>>30691394Yeah, it is easy to want to get into the trap of wanting to get everything, but the best strategy is to avoid things we are bad at. Taking another level in Eclipse would cost us two sessions worth of XP, not worth it. It would take forever to get better at the mental stuff. Let's just get another ship and maybe loot something to pay their bills and hand off the navy to somebody who can manage it and then get back as quickly as we can into our comfort zone. Our mindset should be to learn from our mistakes and that botched roll is trying to tell us something.
Rolled 3>>30691465I guess. I just feel like it would be easier - at least initially - to invest directly in a leadership charm instead of investing in an Ability which also covers things like travel and learning new languages. It would also be WAY cheaper. And then later, maybe, we could pick up some more Eclipse too?
>>30691472In that case we better forget about kingdom making right now
>>30691488Except that even then we have no one to lead. Sure we got a boat but we don't have the resources to maintain it or improve it. We're borderline murderhobo who got a big head after receiving superpowers.
>>30691491I would rather first deal with the fair folk, the abyssals, the lintha and whatever trouble is brewing than play king right now. We can always go back to kingdom making when we are good and ready, rather than make blunders like we did just earlier. Also it is easy to get a kingdom, we just have to marry Amata. To do that we should focus on Zenith some more which plays to our core skills.
Rolled 6>>30691524We already have a Lunar who herself commands barbarian tribes, an allied volcano goddess, and a crew of pirates in the last three days alone. We have intent to also assemble a religion (which will require Bureaucracy) and take back over our home country. We're going to need this shit.
>>30691541>assemble a religionsince when were we going to start our own religion?
>>30691524We can always do piracy, and if we interrogate Yagate we could strike at Lintha if we can secure an alliance with the other Lunars.
Rolled 9>>30691571Since session 1.
>>30691580>>30691583What the fuck? I don't remember that at all. I just thought our goal was to stop the Abyssals and then take back Gem.
>>30691576>PiracyStill need eclipse unless you plan on not doing shit and just fight during boarding.
>>30691571Dunno. A lot of people seem to want it and as long as it doesn't take up much of our time I'm inclined to not care. Besides, the extra more regeneration would be nice.
Rolled 8>>30691601You're remembering very wrong. We've been talking constantly about starting a Cult of the Sun, becoming a Goddess-Queen, leading prayer, becoming a Queen-Pope, building a palace-cathedral, and so forth. We've been pretty heavily invested in being a priestess since the first thread.
>>30691601>Take back GemDidn't you read the rest of the thread we don't have any of the necessary skill to run gem
>>30691627Then what the fuck was up with all the previous threads arguing about what to do with Gem?
Rolled 5>>30691640It was only last thread arguing about Gem. Do you just not remember our previous threads at all?
>>30691571>>30691601There has been debate about it for a long time. Some people really want it for mote regen (Not that we even know it DOES that in this with how much stuff is changed), some people don't want it at all. Some are just highly opposed to how business-like/metagamey some of the supporters are going with it.I'm personally against it simply due to how people are talking about going about it 'We should do it because mote regen' or 'We should manhandle people into worshiping rather than earning it' but there are a decent number of supporters. I personally think that a cult is something you should be doing something to earn, not just bully people into.
>>30691640>Then what the fuck was up with all the previous threads arguing about what to do with Gem?People being retarded and thinking we MUST take back Gem otherwise we'd be throwing away our characterization or something
You intended to find some way to go and meet this Yagate character, but apparently someone as conspicuous as you asking questions about him sorted he expected effect of drawing attention. While you're asking around in a dark, smoky whorehouse filled with passed-put drunkards (a few from your own crew, you recognize), you're suddenly greeted by a cadre of roughly ten fierce-looking ruffians, bodies riddled with scars and festooned with weaponry. Each of them sports a large scar on their right shoulder: a shark's bite.It doesn't take much to find out who they are: from behind them an enormous figure parts the small, vicious crowd. You have some trouble considering it human: it would be probably more appropriate to regard him as a beastman. He reminds you of an actual, bona fide shark somehow twisted into human shape."Heard you were talking shit. Like I wouldn't find out." He growls at you. He's almost a full meter taller than you and you imagine he'd have trouble fitting through most doors. He also looks like he chews galleons for breakfast. He gives your dress a second look. "...Did I get the wrong person? Are you a whore here? Sorry. Say, how much would you charge me?" Some of his men laugh derisively, others don't seem to understand that it was a joke. Or was it? He might have been serious.>Politely explain>Humor him>Respond in kind>Threaten him>Show him who's boss (indirectly)>Show him who's boss (start a fight)>Reveal yourself as a Solar
Rolled 4>>30691654>we MUST take back Gem otherwise we'd be throwing away our characterization or somethingBecause that's true. We've already talked about how, in-character, we want to take it back. And with how little Maka actually is fleshed out, going against that would be throwing away what little we have.
>>30691606How badly do we need Eclipse here? We have our captains so why not leave sailing to them. Also I see nothing wrong with fight and Talking during boarding. We just have to do it until we find somebody dependable to deal with the fleetAlso, as that other guy said, we really should not be sailing anyway because Sea Mothers will kick our shit in. Forget sailing....Hmmm, would a disguise work against Sea Mother? I know nothing about them. We could always wear long robes and a mask during our voyage at sea.We should get that while we are on the island.
Rolled 8>>30691651I just want to start a church because the Sun told us he wants us to go out and build a faith in his name. And I want to do it by leading by example, earning faith, and so forth. It was just the one asshole who wanted to bully people into joining our cult.

Rolled 7>>30691680>How badly do we need Eclipse here? >>30691741Could be. Or he can siphon faith from cults of his chosen in this setting. That would be an interesting twist, that the stronger we get the harder he becomes to kill and replace.
Rolled 10>>30691754>So we have to start a religion because it's what people do in an Exalted game sometimes? And because we're a Zenith, the priest caste of the Solars. We're already - by mere virtue of being Zenith - officially a high-priestess of the Sun. We just don't have a congregation yet.
Rolled 3>>30691774...why would you want to kill and replace the Sun?
>>30691783Except Maka knows none of that at all. She just knows that the Unconquered Sun told her to go out and do great things, because he wants his faith in his Exalted to be restored. He never, ever said for Maka to go out and form a cult. Not once.

Rolled 8>>30691801>Except Maka knows none of that at all. She's actually been told by everyone ranging from other exalts to Dancing Smoke that she's a priestess, she's frequently adopted a priestly demeanor, and so on and so forth. She's aware of all of these things, because this Zenith/priestess stuff was actually straight-up explained to her in-character.
>>30691719>We want Eclipse for managing the captains, making enough money to pay and feed them, and setting up trade deals, not for actually sailing. I agree 100% that the sailing part isn't necessary or even attractive for us.I would prefer to delegate that part, so we could focus on the things we are good at for the time being (which is being badass.) Think about how much it would cost us to level Eclipse just once and get a single charm - 16XP. That is over 5 sessions worth of XP just for a small gain in managing people. It makes zero economical sense to spend it here. If we can get something like Majestic Radiant Presence for Eclipse right away then I would be all for it, but I do not feel like diving down that skill tree for metagame reasons.

If we can get something like Majestic Radiant Presence for Eclipse right away then I would be all for it, but I do not feel like diving down that skill tree for metagame reasons. Why level Eclipse up at all? Just spend 10xp on picking up a Solar Hero/Radiant Majestic such-and-such charm that gives us a +3 to all actions to manage our subordinates. Quick, easy, and useful in a wide variety of situations, without having to invest in something that gives us things we don't want at all.
>>30691833>she's frequently adopted a priestly demeanorWas that when she had sex with the Queen's daughter, danced naked on a roof in order to talk to her deity because she had no fucking idea how, or got crushed under a giant pile of stone that she carried by herself?
Rolled 2>>30691851>but she has no idea what that entails...you think that Maka doesn't know what being a priestess entails? When she has Zenith 4? She's better at being a priestess than she is at being a warrior - and she's fucking amazing at fighting.
>>30691848Wouldn't we actually benefit from the proposed management stuff when it came to being a priest, as well? If we're going to act as a priest, we'll eventually have underling priests. It makes sense for someone that is supposedly a queen will require some level of ability to manage underlings. At the very least, we'll need to manage the people that are managing other people for us.
>>30691848>MetagameOnly using that word when it serves you doesn't it?There's plenty of ingame reason to do it, Maka understanding that she can't lead a kingdom without this knowledge being the primary one.>>30691881Because we don't when or if that charm will make it to the list.

Rolled 9>>30691958>Maka danced naked on a roof because she had no fucking idea how being a priest works. So yes....that is one of the ways being a priest works in this setting. You commune with a deity and pray/worship by making a performance while communing with things thematically associated with the deity. A priest of Ahlat sacrifices a bull and starts a chant, a priest of Luna does a ton of drugs and goes wandering, singing, into the woods at night, and a priest of the sun bares themselves to the sunlight and dances themselves into a trance. She knew exactly what she was doing, because Creation's prayer/worship isn't just kneeling and reciting your wishlist to your god the way it is in Earth's modern Christianity.
>>30692009The only reason it worked was because we're a Zenith and having a line to the UCS is one of our things. That doesn't mean that Maka would be good at, OR EVEN WANT TO form a cult.

There are going to be big changed in this region in a few months, and you can be on the right side. Which would be me."He lifts the huge blade, high above your head."And point five." You conclude. "Because you're not really indispensable and I can always get rid of you and replace you with someone that isn't about to make a huge fucking mistake right now."As a primal scream rolls out of his throat, Yagate's blade comes down, whistling through the air, aiming at cleanly splitting your skull in half and probably, judging by the force behind it, the body, the chair you're sitting, the floor maybe.[session end]

>>30693192Not really, since we have precedent on buying charms after session after all.
>>30693063>Exaltedfag, can you toss us a list of charms we currently qualify for and what it costs to pick up them and/or raise our stats? We're only on Page 8, so there's plenty of time for us to look at them.I don't actually really operate under lists of charms, i usually make some up when you have the XP and did something related, drawing from the Exalted rulebook as inspiration. (tl;dr i make them up as i go following some guidelines)I can give you what I've already written:dawnFists of Iron (Ess, Scene. +1 damage once per combat, per enemy)Heaven Thunder Hammer (Permanent, successful hits have knockback effect)zenithHardship-Surviving Spirit (Permanent. Complete immunity to any natural hazard. Increased resistance to hunger, thirst and sleep deprivation)Ox-Body Technique (Permanent. +1 HP)Husband-Seducing Demon Dance (Ess. A performance you give causes anyone seeing it to instantly gain a positive feeling for you (love, respect, starry-eyed admiration, etc))Respect-Commanding Attitude (Ess, Scene. Interrupts everyone and anything going on, in order to deliver a statement that will be heard)Tireless Hero's Soul (Permanent. Vastly increases resistance to tiredness and fatigue)twilightJudge's Ear Technique (Ess, Scene. Can tell when a person lies knowingly)Courtier's Eye Technique (Ess, Can tell someone's backgrounds)[night]Graceful Crane Stance (permanent, gives you supernatural balance and lightness of step)Lightning Speed (permanent, vastly improves your running speed)eclipseSagacious Reading of Intent (1 Ess extra info gained reading letters and written documents)Mastery of Small Manners (1 Ess you learn the short-term objectives of people in the scene. Gives straightforward ideas, but does not reveal complex plans)Now Maka should be starting to develop some leadership and training charm (dawn) and some bureaucracy charms (eclipse), but i haven't written them yet.Tiger-Warrior Training should require higher Dawn (3-4), though.
>>30693164But it is after a session that we get XP and buy charms, in addition to getting new ones. That is why having a curated list of all discovered charms in a pastebin would make it easier to manage things. As things are if only new charms are posted after each thread it might get difficult to figure out which charms we have left.
>>30693063>Also, will the next thread be tomorrow?>>30693003>Next thread will probably be monday.
>>30693262The fact that we receive XP after a session doesn't matter, what matter is that a maximum of player can vote on those choices.
Rolled 7One thing before we leave town is to take over this island properly. Got to start our kingdom somewhere. Then whit two ships in port we can leave them to induct or sink any other pirate. With that done the next day we take all the other ships we have under our command and do some serious piracy to get the crews paid. If they have godblooded captains or sorcerers and such they might be useful in a fight with the fair folk. That we can class as reducing a unknown variable, since Tiana and the Three Rivers are friendly to our August presence. With that done we start piracy and war on the Lintha. Taking their prizes, performing spy warfare on their informants and fences, etc. And then coordinated with Tianna and the Three Rivers to fuck them up. After that we see if we still go pirate or do some trade or function as Tiannas extended naval arm.
>>30693248Have you thought about how you'll handle power awarding Prana or Soul Enlightening Beneficence?

For what it's worth, I'm most-interested in a Dawn Training charm (along the lines of Tiger Warrior Training Technique, where you just dramatically reduce the amount of time it takes for people under your tutelage to learn) and some kind of Eclipse Leadership charm (something like Solar Hero/Majestic Radiant Presence where you spend 1 Ess to gain a +3 to a certain range of rolls for the scene).

I don't hate the way it works, and i like the idea, but i'll have to think of a mechanical way of handling it in this system. Still a possibility, but it'll require Maka to learn more about essence, or alchemy, or shit like that before she figures out she can unlock awakened essence in people.
>>30693470Except that those charm are cornerstone of the character and every player should have a say in them. This isn't railroad the quest we are bound to have discussion about shit and motivations.

>>30693569It's something Solars should be able to do, but i think the scale they can do it is overblown, especially without hardware and infrastructure to channel it. With high Twilight (and Zenith for integrity) Maka would certainly be able to literally forge a kingdom out of the Wyld. But it wouldn't be a "snap fingers, stuff happens" deal. It would be the focus of an entire narrative arc.which is not a bad thing, mind you. It's a good thing, because it'd be interesting as hell. But not something you do or embark on on an afterthought.>>30693594Not necessarily Cult, but maybe limit it to only the heroic mortals included in her backgrounds (cult + followers + allies + whatever). people with actual ties to her, not total strangers. As an aside on the entire Cult deal, my thoughts:1) It's fairly normal for a Celestial to gain Cult after a while, especially a very social one, especially a Zenith. Nothing bad about it.2) operative term "after a while"3) Maka doesn't know well how cults and worship and essence works because, even though she's well-equipped to be a priestess (high Zenith, average Social), she's not knowledgeable on the occult (low Mental, low Twilight).4) Maka doesn't have the "I am a being that should be worshiped" mindset. She might gain it later (and there's nothing bad about it. In fact, she's probably better than the average Western god: she's thus far proven herself to be loyal, compassionate, caring, just and kind. Maybe a bit prone to violence and sex, but one island over they chuck people into volcanoes like nobody's business), but, right now, she isn't likely to decide she needs a cult.Of course the voices in her head (you) might change that, or it might change naturally over time.
Rolled 1>>30693737...so? That's comparable to limiting it to our available manses, or limiting it based on our natural mote respiration. It's clumsy and dumb - the whole point of the charm is that you Enlighten their essence so they can respire and use essence on their own.
Rolled 6>>30693823So, basically, 'do actions that earn a cult, put in a little effort, and you'll be golden?'
>>30693823...alright folks you heard it here first, lets get that dot in mental and twilight!
Rolled 10>>30693823>scale they can do itI wasn't thinking about "Build an entire Kingdom including citizens out of the Wyld", I was more thinking about making small, portable stuff we can use like rare ingredients for crafting and trading (for example to Zaan) or creating food, wealth, trade goods or weapons/armorCould we do that without focusing an arc on it?
Rolled 5>>30693823>high Zenith, average Social>low Mental, low TwilightI thought the scale you were using was 1 being average, 2 being the high end of normal, 3 being exceptional, and 4 and 5 being differing grades of superhuman.Did you adjust?
>>30693869If you want Maka to grow a cult, the best way to do it IMHO would be to do grandiose stuff while blazing Essence and loudly announcing who you are and that you are punishing them IN THE NAME OF THE SUN or something. That would be a Wyld Hunt and general trouble magnet, but it would also make a lot of people spread rumors about you and a cult is likely going to form spontaneously.Doing it while wearing a sailor outfit is optional but encouraged. (you're in the West after all.)
Rolled 6>>30693911>Could we do that without focusing an arc on it?Probably not. We would have to sail to the Wyld first.
>>30693823>Maybe a bit prone to violence and sex>a bit prone to sexI'm sorry, could you explain this to me? You're forming words, but I do not know what they mean.
>>30693920I didn't, just add "...for a Celestial Exalted" at the end of my considerations. We're talking about a different scale here.Maka has what would be considered above-average intelligence and occult knowledge for a mortal, but learning about essence-prayer dynamics is a bit above her scores unless she gets a god to tutor her in how to be a good goddess.Which would also be an interesting story arc.>>30693911Yes, depending on how much you want to make. Still wouldn't be snap-fingers: dealing with the Wyld should always be interesting and always be weird.
>>30693943>>30693998If just want to build a manse/temple on one of the Island of Tianna Atoll. Rolled 9>>30694029...what? Yes it has. We just rarely use enough in one scene to go beyond displaying our caste mark.
>>30694054Well yes it would require a desmene on the island but it's not like anyone said there wasn't any.
Rolled 4>>30694100there's several, but their all in use I think. We're hoping that the Raksha have one we can take over
>>30694070We were using little? On the ship we used up 60% of our pool and nothing explicit happened. I thought for that much essence use a boonfire would have blazed from us.
>>30694137I'm pretty sure Irene told us that we would have to look for an abandoned one, there's plenty of area that isn't exhaustively mapped
Rolled 5>>30694100Irene said that she didn't know where any uncapped ones are, and that they have all the ones they know of capped and in use. Demenses aren't exactly common, especially at useful ratings.
>>30694246We didn't look for any either.>"Well, you can only built a manse on a demesne, a place of magical power. And you can't exactly MAKE them. There might be some that we still don't know about around, but I don't know how likely that can be." She 's almost finished assembling her essence cannon, and takes a step back to look at it, probably checking if she did something wrong.
Rolled 6>>30694198I think each essence we spend just cause one level of anima display, with 4/5 being bonfire and iconic, and 1/2 being caste mark and glowing caste mark.
Rolled 10>>30694458>4/5 being bonfire and iconicso we're never going to be iconic, then.Good to know
>>30693248Heaven Thunder Hammer seems nice, especially since it costs nothing to use.The Twilight ones are also nice, but they cost Essence.
Rolled 9>>30694494I'm hoping for the leadership or bureaucracy charms
Rolled 10>>30694493Hell, we might. If we end up in another fight with the Abyssals, I could easily see us using Solar Hero and Iron Kettle Body, punching someone with a combined Ten Ox Mediation and Talking to the Heart to convince them to go the fuck away, and then using Radiant Majestic Presence to give a speech to calm down the onlookers and win them to our side.Or, hell, just use our battle buffs followed by three damage-boosted strikes. But generally speaking, I don't think exalts in the main game tend to hit iconic either.
Rolled 4>>30694603we'd need five Essence to spend, first
Rolled 6>>30694494Heaven Thunder Hammer actually seems really lame because movement is free here. You don't have to give up full-attacking to move - it doesn't cost anything. Unless we're knocking someone hundreds of meters with each hit - or hitting them far enough that we can hit them straight up or into an obstacle for extra damage - it just doesn't seem to do, well... Anything. It's just flavor text at that point.
Rolled 10>>30694618...which is what our pool is, by default, and we're often walking around with it full.
Rolled 9>>30694658we're running around half-empty all the time
>>30693998Would it be safe to assume this is more or less how the Island is divided exaltedfag?
Rolled 1>>30694700No, most of the time it's full. It was full when we first encountered the pirates, when we met with Dancing Smoke, when we ran into the Lintha pirates, and so on and so forth. It's usually only 'half-empty' when we're already partway into a dramatic scene, and are therefore already partially-flared.Also remember that the anima only fades at a rate of one level per scene, and that's about the same rate we recover essence at.

Do you think I'm trying to trick or troll you?>>30694493Some essence expenditures are invisible or not blatant and some are really obvious, but I don't have any hard and strict rule for it. Plus I sometimes Do tend to forget about anima flare.Would you prefer me to split your essence pool in peripheral and personal?>>30694740Sort of. use the river as border. east is Three Rivers, west is no man's land. swamp is fae.
>>30695171Ah I see, so this would be more accurate Or am I using the wrong river?, what about all the smaller islands?
>>30695314Yes.Also islands are Pirate Country.
>>30695384Good Enough I'll make plans based on that knowledge thank you for your time
