You are Shax Bonemurder, Raid Leader! Eager to scratch another quest off your log, you headed out with a few friends to give that weirdo in his weird hut the weird items he wanted. You've been eating well lately. But that hasn't always been the case. You've had your fair share of long weeks of scrounging in the warrens and tunnels you were raised in. The things you've eaten then weren't designed to really be digested! But you did it anyway. Now, your constitution sort of reflects this fact! Years of stomach abuse have developed your resistance to poison and disease from consumption to unheard of levels! You don't particularly have to worry about those anymore. At least from the food you eat.>You've unlocked Longevity of the Non-Goblin! Goblins are notorious for dying quickly. Possibly more than anyone on earth! They don't live particularly long either. This really is the best part of life. "Nah, it is probably good, but there is still an errand I should run while I'm out here...""Oh? Well, I supposed we can have a quick meeting. Maybe Xab has been rubbing off on you, but you are really proud of what you've done! "...we snuck into the place so well, I took half their stuff before the boys even go to work on the sleepin' farmers..." The dark elf scout has a lazy grin as your story continues."...So there was this wizard, and he was blasting the golems all to bits! But I told my boys, looked 'em right in the eyes, and said we gotsta get to that farm! So I got on my lizard, waved my sword about, and led them in a charge right into..." With her chin resting on folded hands, the scout leader listens intently while some other people join in. Laughing at the various voices you use. Allonces is looking a little upset."...'Bout twenty of em, all holdin' that breach like we was goin' to take all their shinies, and we definitely were, but I jumped in and BOOM! CRASH! sent two of them flyin' so me and Milda could run right in..." There was some mild applause when you mimiced swinging your arms around, and some appreciative 'oohs' Milda joins in to say that, yes, this is all true."...The whole place was going off as we were getting out of there! The ground was shaking, and you could see buildings catching fire all over the place! I had all kindsa loot under my arm, and Milda's brothers were practically tripping over each other as we booked it out of there. The guards at the wall didn't even know what hit them! And then..."Several minutes later the scout took a long swig of something from her flask and looked at you. "Well, you've been awfully busy, then.""Yep. Couldn't have done it without my boys, though!" Allonces sniffs depreciatively. "Oh! Speaking of, didn't you say you'd try and get me some reinforcements?"
The scout looks a bit surprised, then slaps her forhead. "Oh! Right. I sent them on ahead to the main camp. An orc and two goblins volunteered to join up with your raid. Most everyone else is getting conscripted for the Valorien Wood campaign. Losses are getting pretty heavy out there."Good thing you didn't pick that one. You're not sure you'd have made it this far!"So is the main army heading out that way, then?" You say, munching. You don't have much details of the overall scope of this thing, so it might be nice to know."Our primary forces are there. A different column will be heading this way. Progress in Stonedance has been slow, and the Everbrook Mountains have only begun to be mapped out. You have been doing real good work out here, though." The praise sounded pretty genuine. Maybe you're super awesome? "I hate to admit it, but we had replacement raid groups. Most of those have been redirected to the Valorien theatre. It's a real mess out there.">That's lame. Wow, you don't even know where most of those places are. Just how huge is this army, anyway?! You don't want to imagine how many hundreds of people you'd need to field to attack this country.Still, you'd like to meet your new recruits, but you really ought to get this over with while you're out here. You can't be too far off from the hut, right?"So, uh, quick question?" You try to look disinteresed in the answer. Play it cool. Last time you were here, you didn't want to stick around too much. But you're a different goblin now. A better goblin! You've had a literal trial by fire! You definitely didn't jump when you just stepped on a branch, that was Milda's imagination! You didn't shriek when Allonces snuck up behind you and pressed her cold hands on your neck, that was some owl! ...You hate this dumb crooked house. The most suspicious place is his garden, obviously. You creep on over, and open up the gate to the fence. Inside are several twisting stalks and various fruits that even you wouldn't consider eating. You look in the ground. There are weird bodyparts barely covered by the soil in here... You'd be more freaked out if they didn't resemble the parts you saw in his creepy lab. This dude is messed up.The strange weeds around the house don't have body parts in the ground, so maybe they are the result of something else. You remember seeing a window inside the house, but you don't see one outside. You wonder how that works."Hey, Shax, you have some weird friends," Allonces says, nervously, "Are you sure this is a person we oughta been talking to?"Nope, you were pretty sure he was beyond creepy. "Doesn't matter, he said he'd give me some stuff for these things, so we're going to get him to do his part of the deal and then get out of here." When you were in the clock tower, you didn't really have the time to check things out enough. All you saw was his book full of naked women. You're not sure what that was all about. You wonder if all this stuff is perverted? You grab a book off the massive bookshelf and begin checking it out. Yep. Naked women. What about this one? More naked people. Alright, what's this one? A bunch of mathematical formulas? Oh, here are the naked women. What is this dude's DEAL? They all had weird lines through and all over them.Allonces joins you in reading the books. "Looks like some sort of anatomical study and notes. Lots of strange theories... Hmmm." After a moment she starts concentrating really hard while reading. Wow, is she a pervert, too?Milda arches her eyebrow, "Oh? I was wondering when it came to the supplies. Most of these books look handwritten, too." She picks up one of the ones you had looked at. You know it had a ton of naked people in it. She starts flipping through the pages. She makes some interested sounds and starts comparing notes with Allonces. Milda too?! You shout in a half panic, "You let them go right now! Milda stopped her brother from blowing up your house, and this is how you treat her? And poor, innocent Allonces...! You go too far! >>30678641>Apprenticeship! He can begin teaching you or one of your minions magical curses and stuff! Wow!I have a mental image of shax immediately forgiving him and forgetting everything else when she hears she can learn magic - even if she can't.
>>30678641>>Apprenticeship! He can begin teaching you or one of your minions magical curses and stuff! Wow!Spell casting shax is best shax
>>30678641>Apprenticeship! He can begin teaching you or one of your minions magical curses and stuff! Wow!Wow! Voting for this. The golem is cool but we have a lot of brute force anyway and not a lot of magic. The sword already bestows a powerful curse. It's called "death".
>>30678641>Apprenticeship! He can begin teaching you or one of your minions magical curses and stuff! Wow!Allonces needs something useful to do, and she seems to get along with the creepy witch boy well enough.

Especially so Allonces can become useful.
Oh, christCounting votes and then writing I guess
Well Chief, looks like you have a lot more players than you thought. So far theres:Golems+power armor golems or+beefier minionsSword+because sword is best sword-The sword already bestows a powerful curse. It's called "death".Apprentice+Shax wants to learnor+Allonces needs to git gud.
>>30678641>Complain to him that one of the options isn't a robogirl even though it was built up so much. (It's a later part of the quest chain, dummy! This isn't a real option!)
>>30678851This is what you get for throwing us options that are both exciting and entertaining.
>>30678882>posting robogirl>not drossel
>>30678875just a thought but can we not use our character point to use our friendship powers to recruit Franklin?
>>30678938Not a bad plan.
>>30678938.......LETS DO IT
>>30678938Why? He can't fight for crap. I want Squidface to join us because he was cool and gave us the trolls.
So apprenticeship seems to have won. Allonces is the popular suggestion, and makes me feel like I should just go for it, but just in case.Anyone else you'd like to see be an apprentice?>>30678938You can if you want. This ritual isn't necessarily a oneshot deal, but they have huge downtime between them. And there is nothing saying he won't be recruited later. It isn't like you're done with him! (unless you want to be)
>>30678986I'm cool with Allonces.
>>30678938Eh. I'd rather get the training, and leave him here to create robogirls.for reasons. Also, cause I fully believe in Shax's ability to recruit someone elses newborn creation.
>>30678986Allonces is good.
>>30678986Are you asking if we want multiple apprentices or just an alternative candidate?
>>30679018Alternative.>>30679013This could very well happen!
>>30678986Allonces.She needs to become useful.
>>30678938We probably could, but I don't think it's really worthwhile or necessary. He's a willing and accessible enough ally as-is, and has already stated he's not much for combat. I'd say save it for someone more well-rounded and leave Franklin to his weird pervy business. (Except when we come to bug him for help with magical shit.)There's a place for friendly non-party member NPCs. We don't really need to go recruiting every last person to the raiding party proper.
>>30678986I want us to be the apprentice!
>>30678986how about Milda? She's already (looks at food) half-trained.I think we'll get another friendship point in time to recruit Squidface.
>>30678986I'd prefer Shax, myself. But Allonces seems to like the guy, and Milda seems to understand what's going on. So one of those two. The rest of the raid are useful in their own way, though, while Allonces is pretty useless. So I'm happy with her.
>>30678986I'm fine with Allonces.
>>30679029Ok.>>30678986Allonces godda git good!
>>30678986Definitely confirming vote for Allonces.inb4 Allonces x Franklin romcom subplot shenanigans that totally go over our little goblin head.
Alright, Allonces seems overwhelmingly the popular vote. There doesn't seem to be a push to CHARACTER franklin for now.Writing!
>>30679105Franklin can stay a side-character helper for now, at least while we're in the area.
>>30679063Love triangle with Alfonse.
>>30679199make it happen chief
>>30679199I thought Alfonse was like a pet.
>>30679280The truest love.
I am bored and came by to lurk and see what this quest is like.Continue as if I am not here.
Your sword is too cool to curse people, and the golems are already too loud. Ahh! Your eardrums hurt just thinking about it being some sort of giant metal monster."Hey, can you just, like teach someone magic or something?""Err, yes? I could. It isn't something I'd really think about doing, normally, but I do owe you.""Yeah, you do! So what kinda magic do you teach?""Mostly-" He says a bunch of stuff you can't even pronounce."Okay, how could that help me out in a fight?""Well, curses and hexes are the main workforce quick incantation spells. Steeling yourself against similar attacks is also a side benefit."That doesn't really seem like your kinda jam. "Hey, Allonces? You interested in that kinda stuff?""Ehh? I mean, it sounds pretty neat.""Okay, you learn then. I don't really know anyone else that would really suit this sorta thing."She claps excitedly, "I didn't have much patience for things like this, but I wouldn't mind this at all."
Franklin looks a little mortified. You're not sure why. But it only confirms that this is a good decision! You get less Allonces time, a plus, and Franklin gets uncomfortable, another plus. These two annoying birds can get hit with one stone for all you care."So, this place is sorta out of the way. How do you want to handle the whole commute? Just have her live here for a while? Or what?"Franklin visibly blanches at the idea of her living here. That seems like a good option! But after a few moments he works out a simple location spell to keep her from getting lost in the woods."Oh, right. I almost forgot! Can you identify this stuff for me?"A few moments later you have discovered you own a lovely: Hat of True Sight! You can see invisible things while wearing this big floppy wizard hat. At least he says you can. There isn't any invisible stuff for you to really look at with it. Hat of Feather Fall! You will fall slowly with this hat on. So slow the hat won't even fall off your head. Magic is so advanced nowadays. Gloves of Arrow Snaring! It's a cool name that makes it sound like you can catch arrows! But it only makes you good at doing it sometimes. Gloves of Swimming and Climbing! Who cares.>Anything left to say to witch boy?>Back to camp!
>>30679500>Back to camp!Time to meet our new recruits!
>>30679500Don't knock "Swimming and Climbing!" You could raid those uppity mermen! Or something.
>>30679500>Back to camp!
>>30679500>These two annoying birds can get hit with one stone for all you care.God I love how you write.>Back to camp
>>30679500Oooh, climbing gloves would be great for entering walled towns.
>>30679500>Hat of Feather Fall! How does Feather Fall work in this world?Because I can totally see Shax abusing the hell out of it for added momentum.
>>30679561Shax's fighting style already laughs in the face of physics. Might as well keep with that motif.
>>30679561>added momentumHow do you figure? I can only imagine acting like a parachute while Shax is swinging herself around with the sword.
Seems like you're all done here. Writing!
>>30679583>thisIf it's slowing down our fall, all it can do is reduce momentum, not increase it.Though I can imagine us abusing it for some falling slams from great height, then pulling it on to stop out fall before we squish.
>>30679583Exactly, more spinning means more momentum. The slower she falls the more she can wind up a powerful slash.
>>30679607>>30679583we can use it to convert downwards momentum into horozontal momentum on our sword by using ourselves as something of a feather-falling hinge.
>>30679639So we can make really long jumps by using the sword like a helicopter?
>>30679639Ah, I see. So you're assuming the hat would instantly negate the vertical momentum of Shax, but NOT the vertical momentum of the outstretched sword? Therefore instantly converting the vertical momentum of the sword into rotational motion. But then, it would be less of a "gain" in momentum in that case. More of a switch in damage-dealing style. Cutting versus slamming.
>>30679679yes, something like this.>>30679663what?
Isn't there a possibility the feather fall would interfere with our MEGATON SKY HAMMER?And at any rate, is it really any contest between feather fall and true seeing? I mean, come on. Adventurers are bound to start showing up more often as time goes on, and that means wizards, which means illusions and invisibility. Hell, we've already faced one illusion-using wizard.
>>30679500Give Gloves of Arrow Snaring to Mnar. He keeps getting hurt and such.Give Hat of True Sight to Kuzr, he's the spotter.Gloves of Swimming and Climbing to another sneaky git.Hat of Feather Fall to a golem.JUST BECAUSE.So the trolls can throw him at the enemies from afar!
>>30679583Yeah, that's basically what I had in mind.Helicopter style.
>>30679701>Implying we won't just wear both.
>>30679690If our momentum is cancelled out but not the swords than we could use the rotation of the sword to move us around in the air.
>>30679701>>30679717We'll give the true seeing to someone like the gnoll hunter who'll just shoot them. If there's an arrow sticking out of their gut we can make a reasonable guess of where they are.
>>30679701We can always pull the hat off at the apes of our flight.
>>30679717What if Shax wore the Hat of Feather Fall and had one of the trolls fastball her at the enemy. I'm assuming horizontal momentum isn't slowed at all, so just start spinning like a disc saw as soon as the throw is released.Maybe attach a bungee cord for shenanigans.
>>30679733>at the apes of our flightWe wicked witch?
>>30679732But Shax wearing a big floppy wizard hat would look adorable.
>>30679732>We'll give the true seeing to someone like the gnoll hunter who'll just shoot themTrue, you one upped me. I forgot about our new gnoll scout.
>>30679759There's no arguing against that, honestly. Wonder if we would get a diplomacy bonus for excessive cuteness?
>>30679751The issue I see with this is that horizontal motion is not being reduced in the slightest. You're suggesting we have troll hurl us. Then what, pray tell, stops us? The ground? An object in the way? Whatever it is, it's going to hurt.
>>30679751I like it.
>>30679800The broken bodies we pass through will slow us down over time in a gentle yet bloody fashion.
>>30679800the shredded remains of whatever we ladn on?
>>30679800Well, the sword will presumably absorb the impact. The entire idea is to whirlwind into the enemy at absurd speed.Alternatively, bungee cord. The troll can catch her on the rebound, keeping her out of the reach of enemies while being ded choppy at the same time.
>>30679800All Shax has to do is start spinning the sword downward rather than horizontally to land.
>>30679800Tilt sideways and jam the sword into the ground.
>>30679845Overcomplicating this.Just attach Shax to a harness with a good length of rope. Have a golem or something else ridiculously strong hold it. Shax gets a running start horizontally and jumps before the giant or w/e on the other end of the rope swings her in a circle while Shax murders things with her sword. The guy holding the Shaxreaver could just keep spinning, mowing through whatever's standing against them with no resistance.
Guys, I know this is fantasy and we get away with a lot of silly crap, but I think spinning around like you all are suggesting will at the very least give Shax a serious concussion and at most shatter a bunch of her bones when she lands on the ground.
>>30679886That works. Also makes it easier to land.
>>30679886So, like a shot put?I love it
>>30679886But that has a lot less range than the Shaxapult
This is getting entirely too silly
>>30679957It's also much less likely to result in injury. It also allows us to attack more enemies in a larger radius. Shaxapult just hits whoever doesn't get out of the way. This is far more effective crowd control.
>>30679856>>30679882>applying huge drag to one end of a spinning mass.>not expecting the other end to suffer catastrophic structural failure from the massive stress forces.>>30679830>>30679844>assuming that just because a sword went through them, they're no longer solid objects directly in your path of travelGuys seriously. This idea is dumb as hell. Please just stop.
>>30679917Shut you mouth. Loli gobling physics are best physics and they shall not fail us.
>>30679986Where's your scientific curiosity?I, for one, am very interested in seeing the effects massive G-Forces have on a small goblin holding a sword far too large for her.
>>30680030Obviously what we need to do is test it with a stand in.Make a spinning device around the same weight as Shax and her sword, and then put on the hat and do this >>30679886 with it
Tossing Franklin a casual 'bye' you tell Milda and Allonces to come with you."Ehhh? Don't I need to start on my lessons?"Franklin quickly shakes his head, "I'm not exactly prepared to give a lesson right now. Sorry! Give me some time. I'll send a messenger homunculus to contact you when I'm ready, alright?"You narrow your eyes. "Don't try to sneak out of this, okay?""I'm not! I promise."After a few more exchanges like this, you feel like you've gotten your point across, and start heading back to camp. You get lost a few times, but still manage to make it back within the same day.You are tired, but you gotta meet the new guys. You ask around to see where they are at. Apparently they've already integrated with your army easily. You get near one of the communal fires and see the orc and Mr. Fetidclaw laughing merrily as Xab tells a story. When they see you, Gnorym slaps him on the back, "That there is the boss, Shax." The orc stands up. He's really brawny, his greenish brown skin is covered in muscles. He is wearing loose fitting pants and nothing on top. He doesn't seem to have any weapons. He has a wide brow, and a flat nose."Hey there, boss. The name is Bokagh Rotsnarl. Nice to meet you.""Hey, aren't you cold?""Been training. Don't get cold as easily as other people.""You got any weapons?"He lifts two fists up, and gives a toothy grin. It looks a little scary. "These."You wonder what he is holding tightly in his hands. You can't see anything. Oh well, who cares."Okay, so are you good at sneaking?"Bokagh spits, and wipes his mouth with his forearm. "Real good."Gnorym speaks up, "Quietest guy I've ever seen."
You talk a bit about why he joined up. Apparently this is a cake campaign with a lot of easy loot, and Brokagh wanted a little piece of that. Also, you have had some success so it doesn't sound like he'll die immediately. You don't make any promises! You ask where the two other recruits are, and are met with shrugs. No one keeps track of goblins for some reason. Oh well! You hunt around the camp without finding them. You're getting too tired for this! You'll just meet 'em tomorrow. You retire to your room. Inside you see two goblins squabbling around in the bones. They look up at your entrance. They've got dark green skin and yellow eyes. They're covered in various tattoos. Oh, great. Toothtwister clan goblins. They're a bunch of weirdos who worship the Hungerer fanatically. "Hey, you two. This is my and Allonces' room. Get out!" You don't think Allonces would put up with them in here for very long. They chatter at each other. They use a 'holy language' that is too good for other goblins to learn, apparently. You don't get it. What is so holy about not being understood?"Hello, Raid Leader. It is a pleasure to meet you. I'm Skedob and this is Zexur. We have come to offer our services.""Yeah, well, offer 'em outside."You really don't wanna camp with them in the same room. Super creepy! You head out to talk to them. They talk a lot. Basically they are really sneaky, and good at shanking things. You tell them to not camp with you. They whine a bit about liking the bones. You tell them they can take the bones from the room. They get super excited. Maybe that will be spoiling them too much? You said you changed your mind and they can only take three bones EACH.After all that, you decide to sleep. A new day is approaching! You wake up, train, eat, talk to the boys. What's the plan, boss?>Raiding! The heat is still probably on, but you dont' know how fast it'll wear off.>Side Quests! Stone circle seems like the most popular decision, so we're going with that? I gotta look up where the heck that even was in the world.Alright, so we'll get to work on that. Writing!
>>30680349Your fault for using the word "thingy" in the description.
Okay so, you remember that the stone circle is to the north. So you gotta head out into the heart of the capital. You aren't particularly raiding, so as long as you avoid towns you'll think you'll be fine. You ask Gneb what he remembers from that building."Dunno boss, was a while back. It was pretty creepy, but there isn't much else I remember about it.""What, creepy like the witch hut?" You don't erally want nother witch hut experience."Nah, just, like, unsettling I guess. Skin crawling. That sorta thing.""And it was just a stone circle?""Yeah, looked round, didn't see a door. Don't know how to really describe it?"That wasn't much help. You find Allonces, she's having a tea party."Ah, Shax, finally ready to join me for some tea?" She holds out a cup. Alfonse pours some tea into it gently. There are a couple of the boys there sipping tea. They don't meet your eye."I gotta ask you a question.""Then let's have some polite conversation. Over tea." She motions a cup at you again. It smells weird."You heard of this stone circle thing near the capital?""Maybe I have, but it would be awfully rude to ignore my companions in a tea party and just talk to you, wouldn't it? If only you were participating..."You just wanna slap her. With a sigh you sit down and grab the cup. You try to gulp it down, but its far too hot and you just end up spitting."Nah, boss, you gotta sip. Like this." Xab holds out a pinky and slightly tilts the cup against his lips."Yeah, it is all dainty and elegant, boss." Kuzr is there, too. They're both on notice! After painstakingly talking about the weather of all things, you get Allonces to tell you that the stone circle is a mystical dungeon. Few people have entered it and lived to tell the tale, but those who have speak of different things. That's sort of neat.Who do you wanna bring with you on the trip?
