You were once a magical girl, but have now ended up having to hunt down your former comrades. As a member of the Magical Girl Hunter Bureau, it is your job to defend humanity from the Magical Menace!Suffice to say, after having a few weeks of rather eventful vacation time, you're rather itching to get back to work. Honestly, anything to distract you from Egan's flirting with Leo. While you didn't have anything against them dating, you would have appreciated it Egan tried to act a bit more subtly, especially since you were sitting in the same shuttle as they were.Plus, having to explain to Carol about the concept of dating was just awkward. Bruttenholm smiles. "I'm sure you'll be glad to know that we've already got missions ready for you.""About time." You sigh. "Indeed." Bruttenholm then hands you a folder."What's this?" You say as you open it up. It looks like pictures of some rich looking douchebag and an island."A current concern of ours." Bruttenholm says, his smile disappearing. "This gentleman here is Luis Nyapaver. He owns a multibillion dollar tech firm and has some rather extreme beliefs.""And I assume these beliefs involve magic?""Correct." Bruttenholm nods. "He's recently purchased a private island in the Pacific. Nothing TOO unusual for men at his level of wealth, but it's other factors that have us concerned."You flip through more pages and see satellite imaging of the island. You can see lots of little red circles, and what looks like a lot of heavy construction going on.(cont)

Just what we need." You roll your eyes."Indeed. We fear that Mr. Nyapaver here intends to use this island as a sort of Magical Girl sanctuary.""And the Council doesn't want some rogue state teeming with Magical Girls." You sigh."Which is where we come in." Bruttenholm continues. "A supply freighter to the island is being loaded in Shanghai. We will be intercepting it and inspecting it for any contraband.""Okay, smash and grab. I can do that." You sigh."Sorry..."And once again, the moment you get on the Freedom Star, you have to leave again. Sighing at your lot in life, you gear up and reunite with your squad, who all seem happy and refreshed from their respective vacations. You see Leo is there as well, whipping everybody back into shape."Mission already?" Leo blinks when he sees you arrive."Business as usual." You say, stowing your coilgun away. You also make sure you have the circlebreaker fist and the Swiss on you as well. You then introduce Carol to the rest of the squad. You see Lucy and Ivan's assault carriers hovering over the freighter as their troops rope down. At the edges of the screen, you can see Chinese destroyers forming a defensive ring around the freighter.>roll 1d20
>>30603635She can be straight with other MG and people since it's on a professional basis (or at gunpoint) However, I do think Leo is a guy Alice at least likes though she values her friendship more (though on a more subconscious level) with Egan who like Leo and Leo himself. While she is letting Egan have the chance, she (subconsciously) doesn't know what to think.

>>30603686You squint closer at the screen. You swear you can see stuff moving, and it wasn't the water."Reginald." You say, keying your radio. "I'm spotting movement on your feed. About two hundred meters south of the freighter. You see it?""Hm? Just a second... ah yes! I see them. Small boats, it looks like.""What the hell are they doing there?" You blink. "Shouldn't the navy has stopped them?""Just a moment." You hear some talking in the background before Reginald's voice returns. "The Chinese say they don't think the boats are a threat.">Okay, whatever they say.>Bullshit. Engage them, Reginald!>Other

>>30603806"Bullshit. Reginald, try to warn them off.""Copy that."You see the aircraft begin to descend as it moves to engage the boats. The gunner fires the mounted chaingun, creating a wall of water as he rakes the area in front of the boats to warn them off.The boats do not slow or change direction. Instead, you see an all to familiar bright flash. Reginald recognizes it too when you hear him yelling. It was a magical transformation."Evasive maneuvers! Damnit start some bloody evasive maneuvers!"The feed jerks as you see a crimson light shoot past. You've seen enough."Get us in the air! It's an ambush!" You yell to the pilot.Your pilot nods and begins powering up the Daedalus' engines. The rest of your squad starts arming up."Reginald, what's the situation?" You yell."We're in a bit a bind, you see." Reginald says."Spare me the fucking British understatement and give it to me straight.""We have five small boats with unknown number of hostiles firing at us. Mix of conventional and magical weaponry. I'm doing what I can but the other squads are sitting ducks!""Copy that, we're inbound." You say."You sure about jumping in?" Leo warns. "This is an organized attack. They might be holding stuff in reserve just like we are.">Doesn't matter. >>30604159>>30604215>>30604241Kinda a good question here. What are the Chinese doing? I mean. This is pretty damn careless...Why do I have a bad feeling about this...
>>30604290Ah shit, if the chinese have been corrupted...Get the Freedom Star on comms, we might have an entire fleet of turns coats here.
>>30604306And if true. We're about to over commit too. Lovely.
>>30604290>>30604306I don't know what year it is in universe but it would have to be pretty goddamn far in the future for the Chinese to have a competent military.
>>30604326I hope Egan has some orbital weapons ready to blow these ships if that happens.>>30604337When this is after the MG war. Also, how hard is it to maintain a damn security cordon? If the rich guy bribed the ships...
>>30604337So they're still easily bribed?
>>30604306Or worse, they have sleeper agents everywhere.
>>30604337Their military is actually getting better though. Its not all top of the line stuff but they have numbers to throw at you.
>>30604367Numbers isn't everything, unless you know how to throw your weight around like the Russians do. It's just a lot cannon fodder otherwise.
>>30604159"Move in." You say. "If they got reinforcements, then let them bring it. We got me and Carol.""All right." Leo nods. The Daedalus lifts off from the pad and speeds towards the battle at full speed. Looking ahead, you can see the assault carriers trying to fire at the boats, but they have to keep moving to keep from getting hit by the magical attacks being thrown up their way, preventing them from being too accurate. Meanwhile, the Chinese destroyers were doing their best, but they were designed to handle larger ships, not small speedboats. You then see a yellow beam slice across one of the destroyers, gouging a deep scar in its side. The enemy boats were being smart about it, staying close to the destroyers so their guns couldn't depress enough to hit them, or staying close to the freighter to discourage them from firing at friendlies. Lucy and Ivan's squads were doing their best to fire at the attackers, but your realize that the Magical Girls were trying to sink the freighter. Once that happened your buddies would be sitting ducks.>Go in guns blazing. Hit them with everything you've got.>Hang back and try to snipe them from range.>Other
>>30604367They've had numbers on their side for centuries and they've still gotten their shit pushed in in every war they've entered. Their entire military culture is straight fucked, like arabs with more corruption.

>>30604418>>Go in guns blazing. Hit them with everything you've got.Have Carol still use a normal gun, hide her presence.
>>30604418How fast is Carol in the water? Fast enough to catch speedboats?
>>30604389Thats the thing, their numbers arent just cannon fodder now. Their quality is enough for their quantity to overwhelm.
>>30604442You know, I always found it strange that we hear about the military logistical problems in the country we live in compared to other countries even though they probably suffer the same problems.
>>30604418>Go in guns blazing. Hit them with everything you've got.1. Speed2. Violence of action
>>30604418>Hang back and try to snipe them from range.
>>30604418>Go in guns blazing. Hit them with everything you've got.Have Carol go at them like a Brick Kirby.

>>30604418>OtherCarol, I need you to go into a water form, and hit them with miniature torpedoes. We'll put pressure on them to distract them.
>>30604418>other"Carol darling, SHARK THEM."
>>30604462Many of them have it worse. America gets by with huge inefficiencies by simply throwing away money until the job gets done anyway. Nobody else has that luxury.Very few militaries are anywhere near as effective in reality as they are on paper and the few that are or were (Armenia, Israel, Rhodesia) got to be out of necessity for survival. France might be the only exception to the rule.
>>30604418>Go in guns blazing. Hit them with everything you've got."Carol? Shark attack."
>>30604459Their quality soldiers might have gone up. But what about the officers? The senior staff members? This is what I meant about knowing how to use that weight of numbers. If those guys can't put out a good strategy with their numbers beyond 'throw more men at it' then their still going to suffer greatly for it.
>>30604418>Hang back and try to snipe them from range."Carol? See this sniper rifle? This is how it works, you want to try the gun or assimilate it?"
>>30604418"We're going in guns blazing!" You yell. "Everybody, get ready to unload everything you've got!"You squad arms their weapons and slides the side doors open so they can get a clear shot outside. Below, you can see the boats. One is firing at Reginald's assault carrier, preventing it from being to provide proper air support. Two were making runs on the Chinese destroyers. One was already sinking and the other two were beginning to break away from the engagement. The last two were still chipping away at the freighter.>Help Reginald.>Help the freighter.>Help the destroyers.>Other
>>30604578>Help the freighter.Send Carol to assist Reginald.
>>30604578>>Help the destroyers.>>OtherCarol, go! Shark attack the one attacking Reginald.

>>30604578>Help the destroyers.>OtherSend Carol to help Reginald.
>>30604578>>Help the freighter.Send Carol to kill the one attacking Reginald. It's only a single boat so the element of surprise should work on her side since theres no second boat to shoot her.
>>30604578>Help Reginald. If we can get Reginald back fully into this fight we can actually save the freighter/destroyer instead of just letting it flop around in the air uselessly.
>>30604578>>Help Reginald.Send Carol. All she needs to do is poke a hole in the one ship, preferably while landing through it.Rest of the team,>Help the freighter.
The issue I have with sending Carol by herself is just that. She's by herself. Yes bio-weapon, strong. But still something that will need support...
>>30604672>supportIf the singular boat is shooting at her, they're not shooting at reginald.
>>30604680And if more enemies come out to support their boats both engaging reginald amd carol?
>>30604695Then we have nothing to spare since we've just committed all our assets. The best we can do is hope they work decently together as a team.
>>30604578"Okay, Carol, it's time to show Mommy what you can do." You say, putting your hands on your shoulders. "Remember what you did when we went swimming?""Yeah!" Carol nods."I need you to do the same thing, except against that boat down there." You say, pointing to the boat attacking Reginald. "Can you do that?""Of course!" Carol nods rapidly. She then leaps out of the Daedalus, much to everybody's shock, except for you. As she plummets to the water below, you can see her combat carapace already forming, and she dives in with a splash. You see a black shape beneath the water forward headed towards the boat. The Magical Girl standing on the boat is too busy looking up to notice Carol's approach. Suddenly, a black shape shoots out of the water, slams in the Magical Girl, and sends her tumbling into the water with a loud splash. That's all you can afford to look at since you're already bearing down on your own targets. One of the boats is literally ripped to shreds by mass automatic fire. You see a Circle flashing before tumbling into the water, but you can't tell if the MG perished or not. Either way, she was out of the fight. That left one more boat to handle. You take our your coilgun and take aim.>roll 1d20
>>30604719So why over commit in the first place then? We can simply free Reginald with one run and have two units ready...Not that it matters anymore...

>>30604742Better to commit too any resources to a critical situation than too few.
>>30604733Your shot is off target, but it doesn't miss. The magnetically accelerated round punches through the boat's aft, rocking the whole craft. Panicking, the boat driver quickly breaks off his attack run."This is Reginald, we're giving the other two boats a good pounding and they're already retreating."Well, you could try and chase them down and bag five MGs in one day. Then again, they could be trying to lead you into yet another trap...>Let them go. We've already accomplished our mission.>Chase them. No MG leaves alive.>Other

>>30604846"Go after them, we can't let them escape!" You yell."Roger." Your pilot nods and Daedalus boosts to catch up. Reginald's assault carrier takes up position alongside you and the Chinese destroyers finally rally and begin to give chase. The crippled boat is not match for your combined firepower. It quickly disappears into a puff of smoke and oil. The MG that was riding it falls into the water, and is similarly blown apart by vengeful cannon fire from the destroyers.Meanwhile, the last two boats keep speeding off in an attempt to escape.
