As Ned Salter, we ride the entertainment juggernaut that is the XWF as it delivers wholesome super violence to every holoprojector, datapad and good 'ol fashioned television across the solar system on a weekly basis. This is the Extreme Warfare Federation, and weekly, it moves billions worth in keychains and souvenirs alone, making enough money overall to pay the foreign debt of Africa every single weekend.
>>30346580>>30346551Hi guys. So, let's see which enhancements we want to get for Ned? I haven't written down any on his sheet yet, but I remember we want him to keep Analyze Weakness at the very least, right?
>>30346645This is his exp and stats/abilities right now
>>30346667First thing I noticed is, we are meant to have mega int 4, right? im going to take some exp for that, now.36 exp for mega int 4
>>30346811Let's see... we have Analyze weakness. Can have up to 3 more enhancements and each costs 5 exp. Any suggestions?
>>30346811and synergy, mega appearance 3 and a defensive mental power
>>30346864From what I remember, someone said we shouldnt take mega app because it would make plainly visible that we had nova status now, you sure?
>>30346900Maybe we should get Mental Prodigy: Financial? we make an intelligence roll, and then add any successes as extra dice to a related roll. So next time we roll, for example, a Biz roll to negotiate a contract, instead of rolling 12d10+4d10 we could add up to 9d10 extra dice to it. Of course that is being incredibly optimistic. I would say about 3-4 extra dice would be more like it.
>>30346977I'd take that over mega appearance.
>>30346977You know, I'm reading the brainwaves sourcebook, and the "Fast Learner" enhancement seems perfect for Ned.New intelligence abilities cost 1 exp instead of 2. Raising intelligence abilities costs (current rating x1) instead of (current rating x2) exp points, and we generally learn at 2x speed. It literally says you need only half training time, so it could help a lot in general, both for new skills and for learning powers and raising Qi Meng martial arts. Lyann and Mai both teach at 2x speed, but each Qi Meng dot still costs about 1 year, 2 years and 2 more years to learn. With their 2x teaching speed, that meant it takes us 1/2 a year to learn the first Qi Meng dot, then 1 year and one more year to master it. Which is why we are still learning that first point. It would be nice to cut that from 6/12/12 months to 3/6/6 you know?
>>30347054Oh, the Errata says it does add in fact +3 automated successes instead of a random number of extra dices. I prefer it that way, too.
>>30347075Discerning Mind looks like it would be perfect for us. When someone is trying to use mind control powers on us, or using enhancements or such to influence us, we can roll intelligence and add successes to any roll we make to resist. Its always on and costs 0 quantum to use
>>30346900I would like mega appearance
>>30347091Ok, my vote is Analyze Weakness, Synergy, Fast Learner and Discerning Mind.
>>30347130>>30347109Okay, how many dots on Mega Appearance? And I can't find Synergy. Which book is it from?
>>30346403Yo sorry I'm late, slept in.>>30347063>>30346977>>30347091These all sound fantastic.
>>303471493 and Synergy is from core. We've been using it a lot.
>>30347149>>30347166Why do we need Mega Appearance? There are no good Enhancements for it, unless we want to use Mr Nobody or First Impression, neither of which is especially usefulNed's a businessman, not a supermodel
>>30347166I remember what it does, but I cant find it to write it down now that I actually wanted to write it down. Im looking at the corebook and cant find it.Anyway we have 4 "slots" for mega intelligence enhancements... oh, synergy is from mega wits, thats why1st (free from having mega intelligence) Analyze Weakness - so it helps us in a lot of things in the future2nd Fast Learner - so it takes us 3/6/6 months for each dot of Qi Meng instead of 6/12/12 months for each, and it helps with anything we learn in the future3rd Discerning Mind - because being able to tell when someone is using mental powers or enhancements or whatever to try and control/influence us is just too good by itself, but being able to add int successes to the roll to resist is cream on top of an already delicious cake4th Mental Prodigy: Financial - Either the +3 auto successes or the "add int successes to any financial roll" would be good.Would those be the enhancements to take? syngery is actually a mega wits enhancements, not a mega int one
>>30347063This is good>>30346977So is this>>30347091And, this
>>30347221Eh, I just find it useful for interviews, intimidating people being stylish and such.>>30347247that's useful.
>>30347242>Implying Ned would ever need to intimidate anyone when a mix of persuasion and negotiation allows him to make an 'offer they can't refuse' that's an actual business deal, rather than a threat
>>30347291Some people you don't want to give good business deals too.
>>30347280Ned tends to leave the Stylin' and Profilin' to Mr Flair... And keep his fighters/band members front and centre, where they make him the most money.Make yourself famous, you make yourself a target, and in a world of Novas, that's bad unless you're as unkillable as Brass or Ami
>>30347347I disagree. I believe it will be tremendously useful.
Alright, these are his Mega Intelligence Enhancements, then.I think it's two votes for mega appearance and one vote against it?Anyway now we have 4 slots for mega wits.1st Sinergy - I think we all agree on this one2nd3rd4thWe dont HAVE to buy more, but we CAN. Any suggestions?
>>30347310If you recall, we cut Ami's old manager a good (for him) deal, despite him being an odious sort. Then we made zillions by using Ami's full potential. The guy might be sore he didn't get a bigger slice of the pie, but we dealt fairly with him, so he'll be happier than if we'd threatened to sic Brass on him if he didn't do what we wanted.Intimidation and Mind-Control is the Bomber Lord way. Ned prefers Ferengi Diplomacy (98th Rule of Acquisition - Every man has his price)
>>30347393>Discerning MingSorry, but I couldn't help but chuckle at the mental image of a really insightful vase.
>>30347393Natural Empath was one of those. ISTR is was technically the first one we took. The only other one that *might* be relevant (from Core, anyway) is Artistic Genius, so we can offer advice on the Band's music and/or make creative small talk with Lyann when we see her
>>30347414I disagree and still think it would be useful. I'm frankly not going to drag this out point by point because I seriously doubt I'll convince you. Nobody seems to be budging an inch, so I just want to get on with it
>>30347424Ok I laughed, and fixed itIf I had my drawing tablet working and all, I would draw a vase being an ass to the other vasesAnyway reading on mega wits enhancements right now.Lie Detector - for 1 Quantum point, for an entire scene, you can automatically tell when someone is lying to you. You don't automatically know the truth, but you know 100% accurately when you are being lied to.
>>30347424I think you'll find War Rocket Ajax to be *very* discerning
>>30347442I like Natural Empath except for one thing. It only works on baselines. When you are within 10 meters of a baseline, you can make a wits roll. A success automatically tells you the person's state of mind (happy, angry, envious, etc) and what you could do to change it. It also gives you +3 dice on Rapport rolls, so you can still try to determine a Nova's state of mind.Rapport sounds so lewd, to me.
>>30347488Uhmm... Artistic Genius lets you roll Wits, and add any successes as extra dice to any Art rolls. It seems very similar to Mental Prodigy (Finance). Not bad, but is Ned really focused enough on art to make it worth it? I can see any of the girls on the band taking it, except maybe Aura since she's sort of an hybrid and needs more "general" abilities. But Ned?
>>30347540Foresight. For 1 Quantum Point, you can see 6 seconds into the future. So in combat for example, everyone else says what they are going to do, and THEN you decide what you are going to do. It does not automatically wins your initiative for you, tho.Hypercognition. By spending a Quantum Point, you can turn any extended action into a single action. For example you can take a look at a contract and understand it perfectly, solve a rubik's cube after a single look, quickly navigate a maze, etc. This is cumulative with anything else that speeds up your mental processes. I'm not 100% sure, but I would say it would stack with Fast Learner so for example, Lyann does a demonstration of a Qi Meng technique and you "just get it" right away. Would say its fair to cut training time by 1/2 again (as long as you are paying Quantum, tho)
>>30347598that sounds useful. Does it apply to taint purging meditation?
>>30347520Nah, I don't think- wait, how loosely are we using the term "art"? Because if it applies to holo-documentaries, tv shows, marketing and subtle manipulation (the art of contract negociation) I can kind of see it working,
>>30347488>Rapport roll>Become BFFs>Business roll with a side of Persuasion>Deal made, objective achievedSeduction is lewd, Rapport is being a bro
>>30347615If it would apply to judging how well pir various artistic endeavours (like the games) go, maybe. Otherwise, only sporadically useful, suggestion withdrawn
>>30347598Mind Over Matter. You can control normally involuntary bodily functions like sweating or heart beats. You can enter into suspended animation, and it would take a +2 difficulty medical check to realize you are still alive. While in this state, wounds, diseases and poisons affect you at x10 times slower. The reason I think it would be good for Ned is because this enhancement allows you to roll wits + subterfuge to try to resist against the Lie Detector enhancement so people with it cannot automatically detect if you are lying. It of course also tricks machines and such. This enhancement costs no Quantum Points to use.>>30347611I would say yes. I imagine it would be like just stopping for a couple of moments and taking a few deep breaths instead of spending hours meditating>>30347615No, it means the art skill under charisma. Dance, music, acting, etc
>>30347598>Foresight. For 1 Quantum Point, you can see 6 seconds into the future.Holy shit, I've seen the shit you can do with this in Jojo, and this is broken as hell.
>>30347649Razor Wit is... oddYou make a comment about someone's ability in something, and roll Wits. Then the target gets a penalty to its rolls in that field (against you) equal to your wits roll until he succeeds in that field (against you).Make a notice of someone's poor lying skills, and the target takes your wit successes as a penalty to lying until he lies to you successfully, for example. Or at his combat skills, and he gets the penalty until he hits you. May be good for a combat-oriented character. Ami has mega wits 5. It may actually be pretty good for her since it would give her opponents a -5 to hit her (until they hit her) but somehow I can't imagine her talking trash to someone.
>>30347649>I would say yes. I imagine it would be like just stopping for a couple of moments and taking a few deep breaths instead of spending hours meditatingPython and Lynn need that then. They can purge their taint in days instead of months.
>>30347666But knowing what they will do is little comfort if1) They are still going ahead of you on the initiative order and2) There's little or nothing you can do about it.If Bomber Lord decides to blast you, is knowing that going to help you if he goes first, anyway? Would be really good if we take the enhancement that allows you to use mega wits for initiative instead of mega dex, tho, then you would almost always go first.
>>30347721Weeks instead of months, probably. Still way faster, of course
>>30347649And we do actually have Medicine to use this...>Ned gets hit>Oversell like a cross between Shawn Michaels and a timeshare vendor>Play dead until the danger has passedI can see the value of this
>>30347693As I said a thread or two ago, if we want Ned to become a Bobby Heenan or Paul Heyman style manager, this is how we cut promos
UnfazeableWhen you are required to roll Willpower to avoid the effects of surprise, intimidation, or fear, you can roll Wits and add the successes to the roll. You can also add them to the Subterfuge + Wits roll required to hide emotions during social situations like playing poker and such.Which is good because I had no idea you used wits + subterfuge to play poker. Learned something
>>30347776Remember those penalties are only against you, tho
>>30347728I pretty much none of these abilties are in any way useful if Bomber manages to beat our initave and decides to blow us up.Still doesn't mean having Epitaph isn't usefull as all hell.
Enhanced Initiativefor 1 Quantum Point, you add +5 successes to your Initiative. You can take this enhancement multiple times to add +10, +15, etc. This with that enhancement to see what others are going to do could be great in combat, but Ned isint combat-oriented.
>>30347843Group AwarenessI got lazy, and really, its better if I just paste the whole thing instead of just typing a bulletpoint version. Probably
>>30347884And this is the last one I could find that seems good for Ned
>>30347949bah, forgot image. Happens to the best of us
>>30347964If we didn't have our hands full managing both a stable of wrestlers and a music super group I probably back Daytrader. As it is I'm leery of taking our focus off our eyes off our clients for too long. Maybe if we stop sleeping we can use our down time? Yeah, I just don't want to split our focus.
>>30347598So lets see...1st slot - Synergy. Already decided, pretty muchIt looks like Foresight is good, problem is, Ned isint specifically combat geared and foresight works against 1 opponent at the time so cant use it to anally devastate the stock market, for example.Hypercognition also seems good even if it was only for its ability to speed up mental processes and extended actions.Natural Empath lets us automatically detect how a baseline is feeling and what we could do to change that attitude, and gives us a +3 to rapport to do the same against a Nova.Mind Over Matter seems pretty specific, but someone suggested taking it to "sell" the idea of Ned dying from an attack, in case its needed.Unfazeable would be fun for poker night with Brass, Python, Eldric and Okaba, or strip poker with Aura, Bella, Mai and Euphry (sorry couldn't resist). It also helps a lot to be able to lie to novas who normally would be immune to it.Enhanced Initiative +5 successes to initiative... may not be bad. Feels better than D&D's improved iniiative feat, at least.Group Awareness - not sureDay Trader - Money is good, but do we need more of it? On second thought, it doesnt seems that important.
>>30348061Yeah, that's pretty much what I think as well
>>30348065Backing Synergy, still.I want Unfazed for board meetings and poker night.Group Awareness could be useful for keeping Euphry from torpedoing the band or if we get made a member of the XWF's board or directors (will probably happen in a couple years)Hypercognition seems goodNatural Empathy seems goodSo I guess I'm voting Synergy, Unfazed, Hypercognition and Natural Empathy.
>>30348208I wonder if the guys are reading/thinking about it or if they crashed out of the thread. That's the problem, they tend to dissapear at about this hour. I'd really like it if they at least said bye first
>>30348061And now we're back to Making Deals as a Restorative Activity, which has been repeatedly disallowed (with good reason)
>>30348379We could get Adaptability and just not need to sleep (or eat, drink or breathe). I would be fine with that
>>30348247I'm still here, I was just playing some RTKXI.Anyways, I'd say we go with Natural Empath if we already have it, Unfazsible, Hypercog and Synergy.
>>30348457Alright, it seems ppl agrees on these, so Im going with themWhat is RTKXI?I think we have 2 votes for mega app and 1 against. How many dots of it, anyway?
>>30348535Still against. If we have to I guess 1.Could we add a couple dots to Mega Intelligence instead?
>>30348535If we do go Mega Appearance (and I'm still not convinced we need to; As mentioned above, Ned is a behind-the-scenes kind of guy, Mega App just serves to make him a target) we should take the Mr Nobody enhancement so we can dial it down if we need to.
>>30348673Sadly, Mega Attributes are capped by Quantum Rating (which Ned is working on raising... slowly
>>30348535add another vote for mega appearance 3
>>30348685Another vote for Mr. Nobody
>>30348673>>30348706Oh, I guess its 2 for and 1 again...Hold on, how many people do we have on the thread? I thought it was 3? do we have 4 ppl?
>>30348897Ugh, putting a name on. I'm >>30348673.
>>30348897no idea. Add one in favor of mega appearance though
>>30348951Alright lets see... For it*BookieAgainst it*Anon*EdricRohan, you there? you for or against?
>>30348897I'm for as well
>>30349001I'll go agianst. I don't think we've *ever* used intimidate.>What is RTKXI?Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI, strategy wargame game set in ancient China based on the novel.
Also, sorry for not posting more often, I'm currently multi-questing ATM, and it's difficult to keep things straight.
>>30349001uh I thought that passes d hours ago. I'm for as well
>>30349278I actually thought it passed a session or two ago as part of the compromise around martial arts
>>30349242Oh sounds good. You ever played Destiny of the Dragon? its the same setting but a bit too realistic. If you want cavalry you have to buy horses then breed them. Losing a horse hurts more than losing a rider. You need to wait 2-3 years of game time to get a new horse, while a rider is a few months of training (and you get immigrants faster than you get horses).Even so, losing soldiers still hurts a lot because of the training, AND they can gain experience. If you siege a city, you have to send caravans with supplies of food, drink, etc constantly. Its a huge drain on the kingdomAlright, I guess we are for it, then. 1 point and Mr Nobody as the free enhancement?
>>30349310Still don't see the point of it, but if we must, we must. 1 point and Mr Nobody
>>30349310Yeah, I guess, avoidance from being noticed is the best defence and all that jazz.Oh god, that sounds like such a hassle, In RTKXI all you need to do is build a Stable in a city to start breeding horses. Granted, the fact that breeding horses takes money, Action Points, and the success is determined by the officers you have in charge hinders things a bit, but if you have somebody with the Horse Breeding special skill you get 2x horses which makes it much more quick and efficient.Instead of micromanaging most things, the only things you really need to worry about (outside of combat) are macromanaging logisitics and micromanaging offficers. Since pretty much every action's success is determined by the quality of the officer, certain officers are better at certain tasks, (IE Don't expect a war general to be good at building up the economy.) and officers can do only one thing at a time, literally the most important thing in the game is to have skilled retainers.Ned would be some bullshit high Politics/Charisma/Intelligence, with an income increasing skill.
>>30349310We're going to have to hire a personal stylist, make up and wardrobe crew to make us look more baseline-y, but fine, we'll see how this goes.
You know, I really >really< hate the picture they used for mega appearance.Anyway this is Mr Nobody. Would actually be quite useful for Lyann, but I feel it would gut her character if she suddenly didint had any taint problems>>30349445Mr Nobody does exactly that
>>30349310three points not mister nobody
>>30349310We agreed on three last thread, which I would still want
>>30349308Oh, right, forgot about that. In that case, yeah, three>>30349310
>>30349470I'm hoping to avoid constantly spending quantum points. I figure we can just get Lysnn to give us a perfectly awkward hair cut and stretigically place some coffee stains and wrinkles on whatever we're wearing, maybe get our nose broken one or twice and save he energy expenditure while also looking non-threatening.
>>30349505Where? Looked on fools and suptg, saw nothing[Citation Needed]
>>30349517That would defeat the entire point of buying mega appearance. Also, since we've put precisely zero effort into trying to hide our novadom anyone competent already knows. Such as the Chinese government, the japanese government, (and hence their criminal enterprise) and so on. This is such an example of locking the door after the horses have left that its absurd.
>>30349544http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/30187388/#p30190686http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/30187388/#p30190889That was the agreement to get the martial arts moves you wanted. If you want to go back on that we have to re-argue the martial arts moves.
>>30349544Let me look up the citations...>>30349619oh, he found them.Anyway, I am now against the martial arts moves except for what is absolutely necessary to advance our quantum absent mega appearance of at least three.
>>30349517For some reason that made me laugh a little. Also, its Lyann (means singable in greek. Maybe I should have just called Song, but that would have been too "on the nose" i think)
>>30349470Hmm, any way we could modify that to only surpress mega appearance? Ned's already a known figure so his image will take a knock if he drops from appearance 5 to 2. I can already hear the tabloid headlines proposing a horrible heartbreak or new drug problem for Ned.
>>30349658I have to agree. Also, don't want to hide our Yes I am aware that Edric said he didn't want mega appearance 35 minutes later after Bookie had left. That was a dick move
>>30349658Agreed, despite its percieved slowness, Tai Chi can be dangerous in combat, so I don't think we need to learn a new form or anything.>>30349686Yeah, I'm pretty sure that it just makes him bland and unnoticble, not that it specifically makes in look ugly. Tabloids won't even take pictures, because they wouldn't even notice it was him.
>>30349686Well, theres a enhancement that lets you manipulate your appearance at will within certain limits. You can imitate someone else, change your features, skin/hair/eye color and stuff like that.Aura and Mai both have it, IIRC. Want me to do a selection of interesting mega appearance enhancements or only the ones I feel are most helpful for Ned directly?
>>30349746interesting mega appearance enhancements.
>>30349746Most helpful. Let's get this resolved so we can wrap and move on.
>>30349619>>30349658None of which actually represents agreement>>30349714And somehow I'm responsible for Bookie having left? I made a post in an active thread, then left myself. How is that a dick move? This is starting to look seriously samefaggy on your part, Bookie. The vote upthread was for Mega App, and that's fine, but I'm still going to make a point if I think one needs to be made. That said >>30349686 and >>30349724 make good points about the negatives of Mr Nobody
>>30349769>>30349777Alright, I'll try to grab the most relevant and interesting ones, then.Appearance Alteration. Using 1 Quantum Point you can alter your appearance so it conforms subsconsciously to what ==>groups<== of people wherever you are find attractive. You can have the change happens over a few days instead of instantly if you want. You can also change skin/hair/eye color and stuff like that pretty much at will.First Impression - Use a Quantum Point to make an automatically positive first impression on someone. You can do something to deny this effect on purpose if you want.Honestly, why bother activating it then, tho?Seductive Looks. With 1 Quantum Points, you become the target's sensual idea. Whatever idea the target has of his/her ideal sexual partner, that's you. Notice this doesn't affects the way you act, only the way you look. Used in conjunction with the Mega Charisma Enhancement "Seductive", you look And act as the target's ultimate sexual dream.Aura abuses the fuck out of those two, plus the enhancements so it works en masse and through transmitted/recorded media.
>>30349845I am not samefagging. Nor for that matter did I accuse you of anything. If you did not wish to take take my offered compromise then that is your option Still everything seems to have been settled amicably so its a moot point.
>>30349932oh, should probably also mention that if I was interested in samefagging I would have do e it when we were the only two people in the thread. In that other thread
>>30349916Looking at the Personalities book for Aberrant, I noticed this which somehow screams Euphry to me"Enhanced Background: Front Page Favorite"“What's it like, being recognized everywhere you go?” “Tiresome, actually. Very, very tiresome.” Your character has no secrets (or privacy) whatsoever. Even the residents of the most undeveloped backwaters on the planet are likely to have heard plenty about him. Any attempt to investigate something about your character that he'd rather keep hidden succeeds without any need for dice-rolling.I just get the feeling Euphry is a open book, you know?
>>30349916I'll take Appearance Alteration for our free one, and Seductive looks for our second.>>30350001how the hell would she stay out of prison if that's the case? Unless she doesn't even have to pretend to be doing and making all sorts of illegal drugs
>>30349916Yeah, First Impression is a very Nedlike option. Good precursor to a Rapport + Natural Empath roll... Though the minor complication about othe reputational factors means that if Ned gets a rep for being a douchebag, it's less useful. Better to stay as an honest-but-hard-bargaining businessmanSeduction really isn't Ned's style at all, even less than Intimidation is
>>30350026seduction is probably a bad idea. Some people don't like it for some reason. lets take your other option and combine it with Eric's first impression so everyone's mildly happy.
Jesus Christ guys. My neighbor has TRIPLETS and all three are crying. I can't hear myself, thinking, literally. I wanted to write a resume of each really interesting enhancement but I think im just gonna copy/paste if you don't mind.Well, I just felt that with the documental, it would expose her thoroughly. Also, we did mention she made new shit/drugs pretty much daily. And I suspect they are for personal consumption-only
Anyway, I've got to go. Don't kill each other while I'm gone, okay?
>>30350001Agreed. Hence the documentary.
>>30350104We'll be fine, don't worry
Why is everyone complaning about Mr. Nobody suppressing appeareance? We're *only* going to be using it when we want to be inconspuous, and trying to lessen the effect kinda defeats the point of using it in the first place. It's *not* a passive nor a permanant ability, you have to manually, and it lasts for a scene.
>>30350104Kay man. Take careDivine Visage Prerequisites: Mega-Appearance at 6+ dots and AweInspiring. Baseline humans tend to havea hard time resisting the appeal of Mega-Attractive novas. This only becomes more difficult in the case of novas who manifest this enhancement, as their overwhelming attractiveness makes baselines see them as nothing less than divine beings. Even other novas are somewhat taken aback by the sheer beauty of a nova with Divine Visage. System: The Mega-Attractive nova spends 1 quantum point and rolls her Mega-Appearance against the Willpower of any non-Inspired being who can see her clearly. (Thick smoke or other visual impediments sufficient to cause a minimum of +2 difficulty penalties to Vision rolls will be enough to prevent this enhancement from functioning.) If the nova scores more net successes on that roll, the subjects will experience a temporary ecstatic episode and intense feelings of spiritual transcendence – enough to make them suffer a difficulty penalty equal to [the nova's Mega-Appearance /2, rounded up] on all of their rolls for the duration of the scene. What's actually happening is that the nova is stimulating certain regions of the subjects' temporal lobes (or equivalent structures in the brains of nonhuman subjects).
>>30350101I figure the Krew's hooked on her vodka, but her fun times pills are for her...and anyone she decides needs to loosen up...
>>30350132Yeah I think people missed that part The resulting psychological state is identical to a religious epiphany or trance and isn't necessarily pleasant; while one subject might experience visions of heavenly glory, another might experience a brief taste of hell and damnation. The exact results of an affected subject's ecstatic episode cannot be controlled at all by the nova with Divine Visage; it is entirely up to the Storyteller, who is encouraged to apply either version that she thinks a particular subject deserves. A side-effect of this is that all subjects who perceive the nova will invariably be left with the strong impression that he or she is a bona-fide divine being, regardless of whether they failed their Willpower rolls or not. This enhancement also has a secondary effect on all beings (Inspired or not), who must roll their Willpower against the nova's Appearance in order to behave towards the nova in an overly-familiar, condescending, insulting, or hostile manner. This secondary effect is instantly negated if the nova behaves towards a subject in any of the aforementioned ways herself. Divine Visage affects anyone who can clearly see the nova (lineof-sight), costs 1 quantum point to use, and lasts until the end of the scene. This enhancement is restricted to Mega-Attractive novas – Mega-Ugly novas cannot take it. (Note: For purposes of the “Eye of the Beholder” aberration, Divine Visage is the Mega-Attractive equivalent of Mind-Shattering Horror.)
Back from yet another round of shoveling! I need it to not be winter soon.>>30349916Definitely like First Impression. Not really into Seduction or Image Alteration...Is there something like "Lasting Impression"? Something that permanently reinforces a certain image of you in the target's mind and might give you a bonus on social rolls with them going forward?
>>30350132Mr Nobody is fine by me, I was just acknowledging points made. Serruptitious!Ned is the person you want to be when visiting a team of Private Investigators.
>>30350159Oh, for the record, the reason I don't inform you when I leave is because I feel like it's a waste of a post. Having 5 posts every thread of people saying 'bye' kinda feels pointless IMO.I mean in real life it's essentially effortless, but here it takes bandwidth, and space in the thead not only for the day, but anyone reading in the archive.
I considered changing Seductive Looks for this one, for Aura, but really... she enjoys being a object of desire way too much. This sounds somehow more innocent, if no less effective, you know?Eidolon This enhancement allows even the most basic details of the nova's Mega-Attractiveness to be seen through and reinterpreted by the individual desires of every person who can see the nova, letting the nova assume the guise of “perfect romantic partner” to masses of people, it also prevents those people from getting a clear look at what the nova really looks like.System: The nova spends 1 quantum point to activate this enhancement for a scene. A Mega-Attractive nova will appear as a “perfect mate” to everyone who sees her, regardless of individual gender and/or orientation, and gains a + 3 dice bonus on Seduction rolls. A Mega-Ugly nova will appear as the “worst nightmare” of everyone who sees him, and gains a + 3 dice bonus on Intimidation rolls. Both versions of this enhancement make it extremely difficult to discern what the nova actually looks like. The nova's Mega-Appearance +1 is rolled against the subject's Willpower. Powers, effects, and devices that protect against telepathic illusions will add Willpower successes to the subject's Willpower. Those subjects who fail the Willpower roll will see the nova through their own personal likes or dislikes. The nova's subjects will be unable to identify the nova and will also disagree strongly with each other as to the nova's appearance and gender. Please note that unless the nova also has Almost Live (from the Aberrant Player's Guide), a nova using Eidolon cannot affect beings that are viewing him via video transmissions or recorded media. This enhancement is available to novas with either version of Mega-Appearance.This somehow seems good for Mako (or Lyann once her taint problem is gone, if ever) to act as the star of romance films. You know, that "America's girlfriend" thing
>>30350266This one seems great for going incognitoFade While it hasn't become quite as pervasive as George Orwell feared, electronic surveillance is still widespread in the developed regions of Earth, circa 2015. Given that a person is likely to be monitored by at least one video camera in any public area (and in many private areas as well), the development of this enhancement was inevitable. Novas with Fade are virtual ghosts as far as electronic surveillance is concerned. System: A nova using this enhancement is extremely difficult to detect or recordby technological devices and effectively casts no reflection. This “cloaking effect” includes the nova’s shadow and his clothes, but attempts to cloak anything larger should be handled with the Attunement Background rules. The nova spends 1 quantum point to activate this enhancement for a scene. Also thanks God, the children calmed down
>>30350132I'm aware that Mr. Nobody is an active ability, the problem is that I don't want Ned to publicly seem more interesting than the people he manages and image is an important part of that. If we look too good, the cameras and questions will come to us, not the fighters we want in the spotlight. On the other hand, if we suddenly become increasingly inconspicuous during public appearances, well that raises a separate set of questions.Really we should just get a couple Lyann clones to disguise our inhumanity whenever we have to do publicity or interact with paparazzi, that should save on the quantum expenditure.
>>30350337It's like one point, if anything given how incredibly rich we are, people'll just assume we've had some plastic surgery or something.
>>30350337That reminds me, we should probably work on raising the mega appearance and other social attributes of the fighters. Brass, Ami and Python are already battle-juggernauts at this point.>>30350195>Is there something like "Lasting Impression"?How's this?Halo Effect For some reason, everyone considers a nova with this enhancement to be pure and innocent, though not necessarily naïve. This enhancement grants a Mega-Attractive nova a saintlike quality that is hard to pinpoint but cannot be denied. Unless confronted with direct evidence to the contrary, people will perceive the nova as being likeable and trustworthy, and will tend to confide in her. She will even tend to receive lesser punishments for wrongdoing, as people find it very difficult to think ill of her. System: People who catch sight of a nova using this enhancement must roll Mega-Wits against the nova's [MegaAppearance +1] to resist the Halo Effect. Those who fail will perceive the nova as described above. Novas lacking Mega-Wits and other Inspired beings can automatically shake off the Halo Effect after [the nova's Mega-Appearance] hours. Baselines automatically fail this roll, and may remain under the sway of the Halo Effect for years without Inspired aid or serious mental trauma.
>>30350365Hmm, good point. We should find a plastic surgeon willing to doctor their records that we can point to if they ask about it.
>>30350385You know, I was just making a nova plastic surgeon. A Faery Tale like godmother faery (where have I read this before?) with the Biomanipulation power on high ranks. That power allows you to treat people like literal clay. You can change their appearance to anything between 0 and 5, and their physical stats between 1 and 5. Change their fat/muscle ratio, height, gender, ethnicity, skin color, eye and finger prints, hair color, give them wings, tails, animal ears.... etc.You can even make new and stable species by say, grabbing a lizard, giving it working wings, the bombardier's bettle ability to spit "fire" and making all those traits passable through DNA and ta-da! dragon!Im sure that just making sure Ned is seen around such person would be enough to start plenty of rumours about him being "fixed". Of course, that person does not sell its services cheap.
>>30350337Mr Nobody isn't something you kick in halfway through a big public appearance. If something like that's going on, Ned can arrange it so that the focus is on his fighters/musicians, rather than him, even with Mega Appearance, *or* he can have it running beforehand, and people might ask "Where's Ned?" but they won't particularly notice him (probably assuming he's somewhere else) And when it's just him, he can blend in>>30350374Saintlike Quality? Makes a great way for Ned to maintain his 'Tought But Honest Businessman' rep.Complete opposite of most rich folks. I like it.
>>30350462Lyann, Bella and Euphry have this oneImmaculate A Mega-Attractive nova with this enhancement will always look his best, regardless of his circumstances. The nova could swim in molten lava, crash through a building, withstand the blasts of cluster bombs, or even work on a pig farm and still look like he'd just stepped out of a fashion salon. If the nova is injured he'll still look as if there's not a scratch on him. Annoyances such as dirt, dust, and stains simply won't affect him or his wardrobe. If his clothes are damaged, it will only accentuate his good looks. Evenif his hair is windblown or mussed, it always falls back perfectly into place. System: The nova is immune to circumstantial Appearance penalties; and can suffer damage without appearing to bruise, bleed, or show any other signs of visible damage. The nova also gets an additional [Mega-Appearance +1] dice on all rolls where looking one's best could be a factor. The question of whether or not the effects of this enhancement can be overcome by a nova's quantum powers (or the powers of other kinds of paranormal beings, such as psiads) has been left to the Storyteller's discretion. This enhancement is always in effect, and has no quantum point cost. This enhancement is also restricted to MegaAttractive novas – Mega-Ugly novas cannot take it.
>>30350374Hmm, "innocent" doesn't really work for Ned's image as a somewhat ruthless but well intentioned prodigy of a business man. Maybe if we could corral Halo into something more fitting? Keep the trustworthy bit, but swap the innocence and purity for knowledgeability, steadfast reliability and capability? Make us the saint of business and problem solving and I think it would fit fairly well.
>>30350485I just got this mental view...Ned: "Lyann, Mako, I need to get going."Girls: "Okay" -turn on Divine Visage and Eidolon, respectively- Noone would even care if it's daytime or nightrime or if the building is on fire, anymore.Or Ned could go for this, which is what Mai usesIncognito Novas with Mega-Appearance tend to be easily remembered. This enhancement prevents other people's shortterm memories of the nova from being turned into long-term memories. As short-term memory only lasts for a minute or two, a nova with this enhancement can go everywhere, be identified everywhere, but still remain anonymous. Unlike Mr. Nobody, Incognito doesn't make the nova unobtrusive, reduce MegaAppearance, or prevent on the spot identification. It only prevents other people from remembering the nova. System: The nova spends 1 quantum point and rolls Appearance. Anyone who later tries to recall details of the nova from the scene in which the Enhancement was active needs to beat the nova's rolled successes (usually on an Intelligence roll) to do so. Characters with Eidetic Memory get three extra dice on their roll. This enhancement is extremely subtle, unless someone was aware of this effect at the time it was in effect, they cannot spend Willpower on their memory roll. Similarly, since long-term memories never formed to begin with, telepathy and similar powers can not be used to help a person’s memory roll. This enhancement does nothing to prevent the nova from being recorded on any form of media (photos, movies, digital video files, etc.), nor can it operate through video transmissions. Both of these problems can easily be remedied by use of the “Almost Live” enhancement (from the Aberrant Player's Guide). This enhancement only affects the people exposed to it
>>30350515Actually, I wouldnt mind houseruling that, at all. Is just replacing "innocent" for "competent". I wouldn't mind at all, really. Would need to come up with another name and/or mention its houseruled on the sheet so in the future i dont spend hours and hours looking for where the hell it is from
>>30350632How is that different?Anyway, whatever else we take, we probably should take Almost Live, which makes those enhancements work over media.
>>30350612Just call it "Trust Me"For some reason, everyone considers Ned to be honest and reliable, hd-nosed but not too aggressive. This enhancement grants a Ned a trustworthy quality that is hard to pinpoint but cannot be denied. Unless confronted with direct evidence to the contrary, people will perceive Ned as being likeable and trustworthy, and will tend to confide in him. He will even tend to receive lesser punishments for wrongdoing, as people find it very difficult to think ill of him. System: People who catch sight of Ned using this enhancement must roll Mega-Wits against his [MegaAppearance +1] to resist the Trust Me effect. Those who fail will perceive Ned as described above. Novas lacking Mega-Wits and other Inspired beings can automatically shake off the Trust Me effect after [Ned's Mega-Appearance] hours. Baselines automatically fail this roll, and may remain under the sway of the Trust Me effect for years without Inspired aid or serious mental trauma.
>>30350715Anyway those are all the mega appearance enhancements I care for. There are lots and lots more, but those are either for seducing people into bed or combat and I did not feel they would be for Ned.I think Incognito + Almost Live would make short work of Ned's "stealth in plain sight" needs. And leaves us a open slot for the homeruled one that leaves a lasting impression of competence and confiability on people we meet. What do you think?
>>30350771How about "Trustworthy" instead? "Trust Me" sounds a little sinister because it's in the form of a command.
>>30350771Seems good.Trust MeIncognitoAlmost Live
>>30350780We'd be instantly forgotten on every interview we give.
>>30350780That would work for me.
>>30350771>>30350786Yeah, that sounds pretty cool to me.Anyways, I'm gong to sleep because I'm struggling to stay awake.
>>30350812You need to actually turn it on, on purpose.I was thinking of, for cases like when he wants to go somewhere without being followed.Someone is following you? just walk more than 2 minutes to where you are going. They'll forget why they are following you to begin with. Or make a trip more than 2 minutes long.Get into car. They lose sight of YOU for more than 2 minutes? they forgot about you
>>30350786Whatever name is fine. I just thinking it would be fun to have an Aura Of Trustworthiness named for something a dodgy used-car salesman would say
Oh God I found a enhancement called Kawaii... I want to punch someone. Is basically our Trustworthy enhancement. So, a modified version of Halo Effect, but it makes people find you "cute" and want to help you yadda yadda... if they had called it "Disney Cute" I would have been okay with it, but... ugghI did laughed a bit at the "its more effective in japan" bit
>>30350989There's probably rules for a 'Tsundere' mental aberration out there somewhere....
>>30350989...can we just pretend that doesn't exist?
>>30350989Alright, these are Ned's mega app enhancements>>30351132I would say that's a personality flaw, and gives +1 points for merits. You can take it several times
>>30351152Anyway, we still have like 40 exp. You guys have anything in mind for manipulation or charisma?
>>30351183You know, reading at the Forceful Personalities list of aberrations for appearance gives me so many ideas for Lyann. Are you guys fond of the "causes unjustified jealousy and envy from baselines everywhere she goes" or would you be okay if I change some stuff?Did anyone here ever see the anime for Chromartie High? there's this aberration... abnormal hair. Your hair can do things like stand up 40 cms on its own, and/or move by itself. And if anyone is watching Kill La Kill, there's chromatic hair, which gives you VERY bright rainbow color hair
>>30351267I trust you, have fun and just claim any changes are the simple effect of some Lyann project (probably her own attempt to seem more genuine/relatable) gone too right. No current ideas for Manipulation or Charisma (aside from becoming more charismatic - maybe giving bonus dice to a target via motivational speeches - and better at manipulating others - maybe by convincing people that what Ned's trying to get them to do is their idea, not his.)Dunno, I'm kinda burning out on the crunch though I still want to get it done so we can move on tomorrow.
>>30351371There's "Distinctive Appearance" which seems like one of those "cursed with awesome" cases. It gives you your taint as a penalty on disguising yourself, and to others as a bonus to recognize you. For a secret agent or someone who wants to go incognito, its fucking horrible, but for a media icon, it would be great.Considering in giving it to Aura too when/if she gets enough taintDistinctive Looks: Something about the looks of a nova with this aberration really stands out in the minds of those who see her (or visual records of her). Whether it's something as blatant as smoldering sex appeal or as subtle as how the light hits her, this makes the nova's appearance quite unique. Unless she takes extreme measures to alter her appearance (via shapeshifting or cutting-edge cinematic special effects makeup), she is likely to be spotted and recognized on sight by anyone who's seen her before. In game terms, other people (novas, baselines, and psiads alike) will gain a difficulty bonus on all Perception rolls made to identify the nova equal to her Taintderived difficulty penalty on social interactions with baselines. On the flipside, all rolls made for attempts to impersonate the nova with this aberration likewise suffer a difficulty penalty equal to her Taint-derived difficulty penalty on social interactions with baselines.
>>30351371Yeah, its understandable. I'll keep doing the crunch on Ned so its done by tomorrow's game and we can move on. I'll keep posting and replying here as usual but I'll save the thread now.
>>30351454Probably a good call since it seems to be dying down in here and I have to go a shoveling yet again.
