Welcome back to another exciting episode of whatever the hell this is called. So far this has happened: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/30142875/But for all you lazy faggots who don’t want to read through this, here is a short recap: You are a small expedition sent by MinCorp, a huge, faceless, interstellar corporation (for the whole family) on a class c asteroid you decided to name Chiron. Although the Board of MinCorp had its doubts about this mission, and only reluctantly funded it, they agreed to grant you some resources for your expedition. After first troubles of showing any profit whatsoever (thank you Herbert (R.I.P) ) you finally made progress and offered some unknown Crystal to the support carrier of MinCorp. They promptly demanded a steady supply of at least 4 units of Crystal per month.Should you mine any more than that, it is up to you to decide what to do with it. Save it, sell it, smelt it, do whatever you please. This time:The elevator you had Sally build is finished, but you have neither a warehouse nor processing facilities to elevate your goods to. Sally is quite satisfied with her good work, but she is also exhausted from being the only engineer and having to do everything on her own. You should keep an eye on that.At this moment, your energy supply is enough to fully support all your facilities but you will get into trouble if you expand your base any more. Day: 68>Resources: 16>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 25 (Max pop: 6)Some rules / information: We do what the popular vote demands, but you will have to roll (1d100) for important events / building facilities.Every Person needs 1 ration per week. Currently you produce 2 per week on your own.The Freighter “Red Walruss“ is scheduled to arrive every month. (next one at day 92)Now: Tell me what you want to do / build next, you have two actions per turn.
>>30232212sorry for the terrible formating by the way.
Rolled 72>>30232212Nice, just arrived at /tg/ and this is just starting>Build WarehouseSo at least we can store the crystalsI'd also say that we save and study whatever excess crystal we might mine, even if it's just to potentially make up for a month that gives out less
>>30232212What are those supply crates doing outside our base? Apart from the killer slug one.
>>30232272They are the crates the resources get delivered to you by mincorp.>>30232258thats a ballin idea, if only you had a laboratory to study them
Rolled 53>>30232286Build a lab, put the remaining mineralogist there to study shit.
>>30232286We can store them meanwhile, plus a warehouse doesn't use up as much power as running a lab, we can store the crystals while we increase our energy to support the lab.. I'd think.Question: What's the green plume to the right of the turret?
Rolled 61>>30232300Also, get the new supplies I guess?
Rolled 3>>30232300Also, get the new supplies I guess?
>>30232306The warehouse wouldn't use that much energy, you're right.Where would you put it though? That would be the exhaust of the recycling facility.
>>30232308We already picked them up, the crates should be empty
>>30232306Refuse being pumped out I'd imagine.
>>30232258Move the second mercenary outside or into the caverns. It's doing fuckall inside the botany.
We need need to improve our food production. We will run out off food before next shipment arrives.
>>30232212Build a second botany. Air and food is something you can never get too much of.
>>30232323Hmm.. I suppose above the crane would be silly..>>30232344Well, there's always a chance some will die..
>>30232335How about sending him to explore the left tunnel?
>>30232370I'd rather have him explore further to the right. It'd be easier having the first as back-up and the slug dug down on the left side of the base.
>>30232358>Well, there's always a chance some will die..someone will definitely die if we don't get our food production up
>>30232383Guys, dont be insensitive. Rute's a girlStill no consesus on what to builld
>>30232344>>30232352>>30232388I suppose you're right, I'll change to expanding or building another Hydroponic Bay or Botany Bay
OP,how much crystal can we mine per week at the current rate? How many units is the small deposit we found worth?
Rolled 27>>30232402by the by, how much power is going to be used for the UV lighting?
>>30232402>>30232407Botany it is.Also Rute is going down the tunnel, you can decide where she goes later.>>30232424As you have nowhere to store it, it is currently impossible to mine more than one.The small deposit above the ice is estimated to be worth 3 units of crystal.
>>30232439I'm voting to have the crystal studied when we can. Could be useful even without sending it off.How much extra water and power do we have, in case of electrical failure?
>>30232439So to meet MinCorp demands, we have to get all out, and find more. And somewhere to store it. Would it be possible to make the warehouse to the left of the elevator/crane ?
Day: 71>Resources: 13>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 20 (Max pop: 6)Sally is really slaving away for you, but she started to build the botany. (Resources -3)Rute is excited to go down the tunnel on her first real mission. The foolPeter still has nothing to do and his mining vehicle is standing around, gathering space-dust.Lev has also found himself forced to stop mining, because there is nowhere to store it.
Rolled 87>>30232502Peter can mine the water-
Rolled 75>>30232519Shit, I'm so tired. They can both mine the ice*
>>30232502I don't suppose Sally can teach her craft to somebody else to get some help?
Rolled 30>>30232502Instead of standing around doing nothing, the dudes near the ice should explore a bit to the right.
>>30232502Have Lev clear out space for all the new rooms. We should put Sally on break after the botany.Peter shall explore to the left, for experience and to find the pink slug. Archibald goes with him.
Rolled 80>>30232675forgot to roll.
Day: 75>Resources: 11>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 20 (Max pop: 6)Peter is now in the tunnel and started to gather the splish-splashy ice. Weirdly it seems like there is actual liquid water underneath the ice. Weird. To be completely honest, he is a little freaked out by that.Sally completed the structure of the botanics lab (resources -2) but you have nowhere near enough energy to turn on a single lightswitch inside there.Rute is standing in front of the tunnel to the left now, while lev and Archibald went a little bit further to the right.
Rolled 88>>30232710Have one of the miners clear space for rooms and solar panels.Give Sally a damn break.Guess noone else is free to explore the left?
>>30232748Rute is free. Sally is taking a break, she will be able to buidl rooms next time, but there will be a two day delay before it happens and she will eat a ration more.
Rolled 96>>30232757Sally is needed for a solar panel build? If not, create two.
Rolled 94>>30232757Have Rute build cover/roads to use. I'm a bit leery at sending someone who can't identify precious minerals.
>>30232710Lets stop mining into whatever liquid water we are drilling into while we are at it, having an expensive mining machine fall down into god knows where seems like a bad idea.
>>30232831We need a Chemist and/or Biologist to examine that water. And we need a lab for our eventual comrades to do that in.Aye, sound idea.
>>30232710There's probably lava in the heart of this asteroid. We should funnel down a pipe so we can pump it up at high speeds when the space hippies come.
>>30232902So, Peter and Rute move to the left to see what lurks there, while Sally takes a well deserved break and Lev analyses the water?
Commence construction on a pipeline for water so we can commence focusing our mining efforts on minerals instead of hauling ice in the elevator. Also, we should construct some sort of gym/training area so that we can teach our people some basic self defense.
Day: 79>Resources: 10>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 14 (Max pop: 6)After two days of pouting and eating, Sally grumpily started building a new solar panel, but she takes her time with it. Working outside of the base all on her own really took its toll on her. (Food – 1 additionally)Peter, scared of the liquid water, stopped mining down and concentrated on gathering the ice above.Archibald stumbles further into the tunnel. You suspect he might have changed the water supply in his suit to some alcoholic beverage. But he reaches the end of the small ice field.Lev is surfacing again to make room for new building sites.Your crew grows increasingly worried that you won’t be able to meet the demands of MinCorp in 13 days.
>>30233054Can we put up a little flag? Raise the crew's morale a bit.
Rolled 96>>30233054Guess we have to step it up then. Explore both directions with the mercenaries. Let them call Peter if they find something. If there's no room to hold the water, get started on a bridge across the ice lake, big enough for the mining vehicle.Lev can make a rudimentary storage room by himself, right? It can be unpowered, while the solar panel's being done.
>>30233054Well, looks like we will need to get to working on that storage area fast, then get the two miners down to collect the crystal. Or hope the walrus will get delayed or something along those lines.>>30233066MinCorp provides.
>>30233103>>30233054wait, does the ice lake end in a cliff?
MC wants some green crystals?Lets mine some green crystals. If we go ahead with those pipes, maybe Sally will be happier working in the shaft with the miners.
>>30232212Holy shit holy shit holy shit! This is continuing! I missed episode two. I'm having trouble containing my excitement. I love you OP.
>>30233054I don't understand why we can't simply pile the crystal up outside? Or store it in those empty crates.Lets build a warehouse then.
>>30233175Well I hope this will kick up steam soon, coz its dragging like a spaceslug. (not surprisingly, considering the time9
>>30233182Maybe they're all filled with junk rock?>>30233183I don't know about you, but the night's just begun for me.
Construct a survey robot thing to go out and look for new crystal sources!
>>30233183I just need to catch up and then I'll participate with the force of 9000 suns. When did you have episode 2?
>>30233188>Maybe they're all filled with junk rock?Remove the junk rock then, I don't know.As far as I am concerned there is no reason why we can't pile them up outside.
>>30233182Yeah, let's dump it in the noxious grey container. We need to get rid of that thing anyways.
>>30233198few days ago. I wanna say... monday?monday. Yes, that rolls of the tongue.
>>30233212not that onethe other 2 crates
>>30233198Last monday, I think.OP has a twitter just for the game, so you could use that to stay updated, Iif you have twitter.
>>30233208Well, how would we get all the stuff into the MinCorp ship? Slurp it up with our space-vacuum?
>>30233218>>30233225Ah, must have just missed it then.I failed to pick up the twitter, could someone post it here? Would be good to have. Not that I even know how twitter works
>>30233225https://twitter.com/MinCorpPixeltheres said twitter.errybody follow
Day: 81>Resources: 8>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 14 (Max pop: 6)Sally finished the construction of the solar panel, and immediately went back to the lounge. The energy is sufficient to run the second botany lab, but it has not shown results yet.Lev has created a small shielded area where he stored the crates and the first pile of crystal. Peter started mining Crystal again, now that you have room to put it. But he is worried something might happen to them if they just lay around on the outside.Rute went further into the tunnel to the left.Archibald further into the tunnel to the right, where even his boozed up mind could feel that something wasn’t right. Even through the constant temperature of his Combat-Suit, a chill runs down his spine.
>>30233244>Archibald further into the tunnel to the right, where even his boozed up mind could feel that something wasn’t right. Even through the constant temperature of his Combat-Suit, a chill runs down his spine.AW SHIT GLOWING EYES. FUCK. RETREAT. Back to the miner.Have the other merc guard the crystals then iif they are so worried that something might happen.
>>30233243Yay, thanks. I twitter now!>>30233244Could we possible seal off the watery cavern with a door of some sort? All that liquid water gives me the creeps
>>302332Fuckity fuck, I don't like the look of those dots.Send the mercs. Shoot anything that moves till it don't move no more.
>>30233244AW SHITGET ARCHIBALD AWAY FROM THOSE EYES NOW
>>30233244Archibald should move away and get some cover near Peter as fast as he can, and change the alcohol feed from his combat suit to some combat stimulants or something along those lines. In the meantime Sally can work on a proper storage/shipping area for the crystals.
Rolled 71>>30233237yeah, I only have a twitter for following quest threads>>30233244RUTE, GET YOUR ASS TO THE RIGHT TUNNEL NOW.Archibald, stay still and try to sober up.Let Peter keep mining.I agree with >>30233182stuff the crystals in the red containers. Weld them if they're so damn worried about exposure.
Send in the mercs!Do we have explosives? I remember asking for some back in ep1 but can't remember if we got them.
Rolled 11>>30233244If you don't mind, I'm gonna start compiling a list of facilities as I procrastinate for my exam.Maybe you can host it on a pastebin?
>>30233244god damnit, I leave for an hour and our senior merc gets drunk. Retreat back to the miner>glnityt distance
Rolled 1Maintanance Facilities:-Water Recycler (good for x people)-Hydroponics--1 fully operational(1 ration per turn)--1 starting up(0 ration per turn)-Solar Panel(3)--enough power to run x more rooms and lightsBasic Facilities-Bunkroom(holds 6 people)--1 person sleeping in lounge or something-Lounge(recreation)-Makeshift Storage--Contains x units of Crystal--risk of exposure to...the vacuum of space?Water Storage-62.5% capacityAdvanced Facilities-Comms Tower-Elevator-CraneDefense Facilities-Basic TurretMining Facilities-Mining Vehicle(2)-Tunnel(lit at entrance)-Ice Lake--Appears to contain water underneath-Crystal Vein(x units left)I'll have to archive binge to figure out the rest
How is the game called where you take the pictures from?
>>30233323go for it. I dont know shit about the computas, so pastebin is a big question mark for me.
Day: 83>Resources: 6>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 14 (Max pop: 6)Archibald bravely ventures forth in the direction opposite to where he was going just before. Over the speakers, you hear his fierce battlecry: “I donae like t’ go there”Peter manages to get another unit of crystal while Sally starts to set up a warehouse. (resources -2)Rute runs towards Archibald and Peter.
>>30233409set up defensive perimeter in front of the crustal pile
>>30233405>You paste text there>You get a link to it>Share it to who you want to show the text>???>Profit!
Rolled 21>>30233244>>30233401This, OP. This is the greatest of compliments. This is how good your art is.>>30233405I've only started using pastebin, and I don't know how to set things to public and private. Also, it feels weird to host the stats of a thread you don't OP.
>>30233409Turn off the running lights on Peter's rig so Rute and Archibald run into each other comically.
>>30233409Grab a box from outside and make a barricade in the tunnel.
Rolled 23>>30233409I don't think there's anything in particular to make an action for.
>>30233425It really is amazing.>>30233409Have the two mercs protect Peter while he mines, we need to get 2 more units of crystal in 9 days
>>30233468You're making barricades and can do whatever else you want...
>>30233482have both of our miners mine crystal
Rolled 53>>30233482Yeah, but you made it sound like it took Rute 2 days to run over to the right.
>>30233510he's drunk man
>>30233482Get some guns. We're going to hunt aliens! I bet our bosses would be more interested in that than crystals.
>>30233510How time goes by eh?
>>30233523Or they'll just bitch at as for not making enough progress.
>>30233510It's all happening at the speed of plot.Let's barricade the right tunnel and rig it with motion sensors. The mercy can stay with the miners while they haul the crystals. When the Walrus comes next, we'll see what we can do about purchasing some more security.
>>30233563this, we need to mine the crystals. At least we know they will be happy with that.
Day: 83>Resources: 4>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 8 (Max pop: 6)Sally has nearly completed construction of the warehouse, but she has become really depressed now, because Lev decided to go down the tunnel to join in on the fun, of which he has of course not been informed.Rute and Archibald set up some defences while Peter continued drilling into the crystal vein. There doesn’t seem to be much left there, maybe one or two units above the ice. Also there is a humongous alien creature with glowing eyes emerging from the darkness.
Rolled 12>>30233587Don't we need to find a new vein first? I don't think there's enough in this first one to meet the 10 unit quota.
>>30233587We could always ask what MinCorps thinks about hunting aliens when the Walrus gets to us.
>>30233563>>30233587No way! If we discover some unknown alien creature the hunting rights alone could be huge. Think of the theme parks, the T-shirts, the novelty coffee mugs!
>>30233603Shoot it and keep shooting it till it don't move. Then shoot it some more to be absolutely sure it's down.
>>30233603Oh shit.Ohhh shit. Run!
Rolled 72>>30233603Shoot, shoot, shootemup.Sally should start building stuff in the tunnel, so she doesn't get lonely. Lights? Echolation Sensors?
>>30233608They mandated only 3 units of the stuff.
>>30233613Unless they hunt us. Maybe we can charge the locals for hunting us?Speaking of which, we should get a xenobiologist aboard
>>30233603Send MinCorps a corpse.
OKAY HERE'S THE PLANSally makes a big cage and positions it over the top of the shaft while the guys keep it busyThen the guys lure it under the shaft and Sally drops the cage. Then we sell it.Who's with me?
>>30233603Shit, it's skarnerAll this violence, hold your fire until it's either too close, or it reveals hostile behaviour
Rolled 80>>30233657This is better than just shooting it 'cause it moves..Also, roll for >>30233658
>>30233617>>30233636>>30233654You shoot it.Can I have rolls as a reply on me for shooting?
Rolled 52>>30233658We've already lost one person, so my trigger finger is itchy. But, for the sake of not being murderhobos, change >>30233636 to watching it for movement.
Rolled 59>>30233679I kinda rescinded my vote here >>30233636. I don't know if you'll count it, so rolling anyway.
>>30233679fucking humans..[/spoilers]at least it won't rape us for now>>30233707
We should think about requesting some sort of drone parts from mincorp to scout ahead for us. Would be quite a bit safer compared to sending less expendable people in.
Rolled 8>>30233744we can also use sonar or echolation.
I think if we dig down deep enough we might find some sort of alien civilization's ancient ruins. The monster has to have come from somewhere, and this rock is lifeless.
>>30233751Would those be able to find crystal veins, though?
>>30233778Probably. Ultrasound sonar would pick up differences in the rock, such as crystal.
Rolled 68>>30233778Just knowing the tunnel structure should be helpful, and sonar can tell you some things visuals can't, like density and veins just underneath a layer of rock.
Day: 85>Resources: 2>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 2 (Max pop: 6)Sally finally set up the warehouse. Good on you Sally. Maybe that will bring you over your crippling depression because you lost your best friend and had to work like a slave to cover up for his loss while eating him because the others threw him into the recycling facility. Jolly good.Archibald and Rute open up fire. Archibald inflicts heavy damage, his hands are as steady as the ones of a neurosurgeon, although his head is tumbling from one side to the other.Rutes bullets bounce off of the plated body of the creature. It seems to be retreating.
>>30233796Shoot it more. Aim for the legs. Stop it running. Then move in for the kill.
>>30233796Have them all, including the drilling machine, charge after it!
Rolled 6>>30233796Since we already started this...Hunt the creature down. Don't let it call for reinforcements.Get Sally down the tunnel before she kills herself or something. Make some pet drones or sonar detectors.
>>30233796>Sally finally set up the warehouse. Good on you Sally. Maybe that will bring you over your crippling depression because you lost your best friend and had to work like a slave to cover up for his loss while eating him because the others threw him into the recycling facility. Jolly good.Blame the idiots who decided to "study" the slug instead of killing it. Holy shit.Send Sally to the lounge and have one of the miners keep her company.
>>30233796Chase it into the hole! Kill it! Eat the corpse!
Rolled 84>>30233796Sally should rest, and be work-free until the next shipment. And I guess that the thing's kind is gonna be hella pissed either way, but I say let it go, it's not like it's gonna get voted anyway
>>30233809>>30233810>>30233814>>30233838You chase after the creature. Please roll for that as a reply on me.
Rolled 66>>30233796Set up a barrier and some SUPER BRIGHT lights, I doubt this alien as accustomed to alot of light so it could be useful
Leave the alien thing alone. Don't go fucking chasing it into the darkness, are you people insane?
Rolled 40>>30233867Like this?
Rolled 77>>30233867>inb4 under 40>>30233873Thank you, although I'm not sure if you're just afraid of the dark, or you didn't want to kill it to begin with
Rolled 96>>30233867do be cautious
>>30233886>Thank you, although I'm not sure if you're just afraid of the dark, or you didn't want to kill it to begin withI just think it is stupid to leave barricaded position and go chasing it into its own territory
>>30233904You're right, but I think we got away with it this time, thanks to >>30233889
>>30233917I'm pretty sure OP takes the first roll and not the best of x, unless he changed his policy
Day: 86>Resources: 2>Current pop: 7 (1 Engineer, 2 Mineralogists, 1 Expedition leader, 2 Mercenaries, 1 Botanist)>Rations 2 (Max pop: 6)Rute and Archibald go after the creature, but they can’t catch up and it disappears into the darkness.Rute blames Archibalds wobbliness but secretly she is glad to stay near the defensive position and wants to retreat back to it.Peter stopped mining because what little crystal is left in the vein is hardly worth drilling into.Lev joins his comrade but there is no more crystal left to be mined.Sally went to spend some time in the lounge, where Martha keeps her company.
Rolled 66>>30233939Make a lab at the bottom of the elevator. Light the place up too.The lab can also double as a defensible fort.Peter should go left, with Rute, while Lev goes right with Archibald.
>>30233939Let's get Peter and the two mooks to go into the creature's tunnel slowly. I bet we can find lots of crystals down there.
>>30233959Sounds risky but I don't think there are many alternatives.Unless the tunnel on the left has something valuable....We should also prepare for the possibility that the tunnel on the left has more aliens and by chasing the big bug to the right tunnel all those miners and soldiers are going to get surrounded and have their escape route cut of...
Rolled 41>>30233939Sally should not work until the next shipmentRute should keep watch of the right side by the barricades, and Archibald can take one or both miners to explore the left
Rolled 11>>30233939What's that crack at the bottom of the the airlock in the base of the comms tower?Roll for inspect.
>>30233953let Sally rest for a while. >The lab can also double as a defensible fort.Agree with this though. Lets light up them tunnels.>>30233959>>30233984You guys really want someone to get killed, don't you? Why not wait few more days for the supply ship to come and request some device which will help us locate more crystal veins?
>>30233998Come on, it's exciting! A mysterious monster on a seemingly dead world? The stuff movies are made of! Think of the royalties!
Rolled 54>>30234002And said movies usually have most of the poor and often retarded crew dieing to some gnarly alien
Can we take the turret apart and set it up elsewhere? Putting it in the tunnels seems like a better idea right now.
>>30234009ignore the dumbass please ;_;
>>30233998>>30233990>>30233953You have neither the resources, nor the parts for an entire laboratory, but Sally can start building something down there with what you have left.
Rolled 33>>30234025Do the lights first. The real reason she's there is to have company, anyway.
>>30234009Well, not if we're careful. It's not like anything biological could stop a mining drill.
>>30234025Let her rest. Can't someone else set up lights in the tunnels?
>>30234048Lights are fairly easy to set up, a miner could do it. yes.
>>30234058Okay, let's set up some lights. And maybe bring a box of first aid equipment or extra guns or something down too. set up a little checkpoint.
So, setting up lights and Sally should rest, which is what she is already doing so it's not an action.Anything else you want to do?
>>30234039you call that being carefull?>Oh I'm sure an alien cant do alien things!
Rolled 90>>30234107have Sally read scifi horror.....no that's a terrible idea.
Rolled 41>>30234107build a barricade with lots of bright lights on the right side that can be switched on and off for when aliums come
>>30234109It's fine, this isn't a movie, anon. The poor creature is probably more scared of us than we are of it.
>>30234107We'll need a secure airlock system with cameras, armored, at each side of the cave system, capable of letting mining vehicles through, that way aliums can't just waltz up our mineshaft.
>>30234136you want them to die don't you, you fag.
>>30234107>>30234117Give Sally anti female hysteria device. That should relax her a bit.
>>30234126that seems to be about what people want (minus lab and such), but you'd need to call off Sally for that
>>30234152Actually not a bad idea.Someone give her the dick.
>>30234025lets drill into the Ice. Lev said that theres probably more cristals under it
>>30234189Not yet, we need a secure fallback position first in case of flooding and/or aliums. For now, we should instead concentrate on securing the bottom of the shaft and increasing food production.
>>30234193well at least we should store our surplus cristals to fill the next month quota.building a blast door where the alien came from wouldnt hurt too

>>30234193Hell, for that matter, the other direction needs exploring, might be more crystals that way.
>>30234214Both sides, you never know what the fuck might happen. That way we can pressurize to the bottom of the shaft, and leave the vehicles down there and build a motor pool around them. It'll also make further construction easier, since we might able to make crash-bunks down there for time-sensitive work.
>>30234220>Beg the space-based megacorp who dumped a bioweapon on us for workers compYEAH, THAT'LL WORK.Plan for the worst, besides, right now we only really NEED a single set of blast doors on each side, we can make a proper airlock and other stuff later.
>>30234157let her rest. Can we make a spot-light which can light up the tunnels far in distance?
>>30234231yeah but the controls to the doors should be on our comand center in case of flooding, and there should be a third door preventing whatever is down there from entering our station
I think we should plant some explosive charges around the bottom of the main shaft. That way if the underground is ever overrun we can just blow it shut.

>>30234600can we ask bio lady about the magic tree before the final decision?
>>30234582From last thread.>The Red Walrus sends down its cargo, granting you 20 resources and 16 food to spend during the next 30 days. After you send up a small sample of crystal to the ship, Boris remarks that this is the sort of substance MinCorp is interested in. He mandates 3 units of this crystal in order to sustain your little colony. Any other crystal you dig you can either trade for additional food or resources, or keep for yourselves.

>>30234600engeneer and xeno

>>30234658A psychologist doesn't provide any extra bang for the buck, though. Useless, and can't provide any quantifiable morale benefit that extra facilities couldn't. Would just be another useless mouth-breather that we'd have to feed.
Guys, I think we should skip the lab components THIS MONTH, and get the insect farm and big-ass gun turret, as those are the biggest holes right now.We should sell the final crystal and an alien blood sample straight up for food, as much as we can get, and some construction materials.
>>30234653that defence turret is useless against ships, we are literaly sitting ducks
>>30234670I'm sure a spacer realises the problems of NOT ENOUGH FOOD, and will sell extra to us at an inflated price to make up our shortfall (ie: The food that would basically be free compared to big-ticket would instead only give us 3-5 weeks of food)
Alright guys. You don't get it.You can't trade crystals for special parts. Only one for one resource. It may or may not be a little bit of a rip off. Depends on you.
>>30234697Ok, I'm confused, you mean we can't get the listed parts, but only food/resources?What about that alien blood?

>>30234697I see, then no, we keep the crystal
>>30234708You get one of the listed parts. But you can't trade crystals for one of those.
OKAY OKAYIf we have two spare crystal, we get the Insect Farm and Lab Materials, if not, just the Farm.We hire (personal preference) just the engi, because he will fill a niche we don't have and will also provide a clunky but somehow effective synergy with Sally. But most people want another person, which I think is silly, because food burden. But if we do get another person, it's the xenofreek
>>30234708we can get ONE listed part.we can TRADE our crystals for more resources. that's it.dunno about the alien blood.
Well then, we obviously need:Insect Farm for foodEngineerMechanic (Without a lab the xenobiologist is useless, and our vehicles will need maintenance, he can also help build)Trade crystal to stockpile food, at least 1 unit, 2 if it'll get us to a 6 week stockpile.
>>30234719But a xeno would rek ANY pirates that try to come after us!
>>30234697I still vote we get the turet and no people so we can defend agains the Pirates. Nest month we worry about other things
>>30234807We don't have enough on us for pirates to try to get past the defenses we do have, yes a ship would blow us out of the water, but that just means they get exactly as little as they would have before.
>>30234807Pirates have only been a problem for ships coming to us. If they're a problem, they're a future one. Right now we 100% for sure have an alien in the tunnels and we 100% for sure had someone die to a space slug.Xenobiologist is, in my opinion 100% necessary.Magic tree would be nice too.
>>30234823If we get 1 person and the insect farm our food will last the 4 weeks necessary
>>30234729Restating my vote for clarity:Keep extra crystals,Hire either the engineer or the mechanic (like >>30234758 said, no lab for xenobio)Get the insect farm

Behind her, Prof. Rant slowly walks through. His eyes are shielded from the artificial light by dark sunglasses. As you extend your hand towards him, he ignores you and simply asks, with a slight accent, “where is my sleeping compartment?”.You show them around, Paroli Cefrin seems impressed with your progress. Prof Rant decided to stay in the quarters with the reasoning that is was to early in the day to do something productive. Before the Walruss departs again, you ask the Captain to take a look at some blood samples you sent up. He promises to deliver them to the nearest laboratory and states that his freighter is not properly equipped for analysis with the reasoning that it was just a freighter. Paroli is enjoying it as well, but that seems to be the case with everything she does. ( -1 resource)However, after finishing the ant farm and trying to make it run, you notice major energy fluctuations and have to press the emergency-shut-off-button. Good thing you had that one.You won’t be able to run it, if you don’t get more energy.Meanwhile your miners are steadily hauling Crystal (+1). Could we use the flow of the water being recycled to produce energy via waterwheel?
>>30235038More solar panels. We need more power to run the ant farm and we need it fast incase the ants die unless the farm isn't activated soon.
>>30235082Also, do we have a way of storing excess energy so it doesn't go to waste? We need to find a better way to make electricity then solar panels everywhere.
>>30235084Oh shit, you're right.Actually, we should redirect power from somewhere else to ant farm till we build new solars
>>30235115you havent>>30235082thats getting pumped artificially itself

>>30235077This. Rotating shifts for the guards, but keep the other one close at hand in case shit goes down.Maybe we could see if there's a spring under the ice? Fat chance, since it's an asteroid, but hey, can't hurt, right?Or can it?
>>30235038Jesus, can we build a better power generator with the resources we have? A small cold fusion reactor.
>>30235160that sounds both difficult and expensive
Hey, hey, I had an idea. Instead of having more fuckhuge solar arrays taking up space on the surface, could we maybe just take the flat photovoltaic panels and layer the roofs of our structures? Maybe find a hillside that faces the sun most often and just put a bank of them to soak up the rays?
>>30235168Its the future! If not that something that could generate more power than the solar panels. If we keep doing what we are going most of the surface of the asteroid will be solar panels and we still will not get enough power.
>>30235187You have no idea how complex power stations are, do you

The constant exposure to space-winds and other space-hazards really took their toll on them. For now, they are working though. While Rute guards the Miners, Archibald is spending some time in the lounge. He would have been fine with guard duty if the bar in the lounge wasn’t screwed to the floor.Upon hearing the News, Lev suggests looking for stone that contains Carbon in high quantities. (Anorganic). Which would work for a power plant.
>>30235193No, but I am asking if there is a better option than solar panels to provide us with more power. I think we should explore better alternatives so that we don't have to be constantly building new panels.

>>30235211you're tired of doing this, and attempting to kill off the station, I can tell

>>30235193Strewth. Power stations on the scale of even a small cold fusion reactor are WAY outside our resource range. >>30236241That doesn't make water some mystical fuel you can just 'get' energy from, son. You still need to input energy into the system to split it in the first place - more than you could possibly get out of the hydrogen by burning it.
>>30236296Even still, it's more than we have. and Hydrogen Cells are energy production. We crack the water we have for hydrogen, put it through a hydrogen cell, get water back out from it. Boom. We have a renewable cycle. Not perfect by any means, but workable.
>>30236314You don't think that in future fuel terms that hydrogen cells are more efficient now?
>>30236320I'm not sure if you're trolling at this point, but that doesn't 'produce' energy. Inevitable inefficiencies would mean a net los-Wait, do you mean using this a 'battery' type thing? That's really not very clear.
>>30236352I'm not sure what I'm refering to here. I thought I did at the beginning and now I'm not so sure.Give me a bit to actually read this over again. I've not mucked about with fuel cells since a kit I was given as a birthday present when I was 14.
>>30236374okay, so a fuel cell is basically a kind of battery, only unlike a normal battery which contains the chemicals inside of itself and those chemicals eventually run out after they've all reacted with one another, a fuel cell can be provided a constant flow of the reactive chemicals?Am I getting that about right? That's what I'm going for.
