Sorry to start so late guys. I was waiting for hours and got distracted for a bit and here we are.
No worries. After the thread ended, I was thinking some more about Ned's sheet, and I realised it would only take another 20xp to push Rapport and Diplomacy up to 6 dots each. Since we have it spare, and they're pretty important skills for wheeling and dealing, they'd be a good investment. Also, a query: Does Secret Pressure Point Technique prevent the use of Mega Attributes and Enhancements, as well as Quantum Powers?
>>30210727I -think- you cant normally push a skill to 6+. There's a special rule in a fan book to do it, if I remember right.I know you can do it as a starting character if you take the right traits and advantages, but only to raise a skill to 6, and no further. There isin't any hard rule I can remember saying you CANT raise a skill to 6+, either, but I have never seen a NPC stat block with 6+ on any skill.
>>30210647Ugh, I know what you mean, I've been reading Strat's new China Quest, and lost track of the time.Honestly, I should've checked back here at 17 mins ago.
>>30210813Oh, OK. That's what I thought, too... I was just looking at Ned's Biz of 6, and I was wondering how we got that far. Must have been at CharGen
>>30210849Hey Ronan. You weren't here yesterday, so I don't know if you know, but we realised that Ned was sitting on a reservoir of XP (like 200+) so we spent some, although we won't see the actual benefits until time has passed in the story.Ned is learning Tai Chi and Qui Meng, plus a special Pressure Point technique to shut down other Nova's powers. He's also raising his Quantum to 3, Mega Wits and Mega Manip up to 4, and taking a point of Mega Int.And we're not even halfway through.Any thoughts on what's a good expenditure? Aside from Mental Defence/Mental Immunity
>>30210853YepBy the way I updated his sheet. May still have some errors but should be clearer now.Still havent added his enhancements, tho. Also, bought off Ami's forcefield's huge weakness so she doesnt has to burn through her quantum each and every time. Now it works normally. And, what I wasted so much time on and got me distracted, was thinking of a way to make choosing powers and such during fights, easier. This is what I came up with, what do you think? I was looking for a template for the actual fighters, but couldnt find anything I liked so was trying to make one
>>30210853I think TKOAD made a special exception, which kinda makes sense, since our character pretty much revolves around business.>>30210918Yeah, I checked out the previous thread last night, luckily I've taken enough Aspirin, that I should be okay. (Piss directions, if I want to take 3 Aspirin in a 4 hour period, imma do that, and don't tell me it's hazardous to my health, 2 didn't remove my headache!)
Bah I thought I posted Ned's sheet. It still has some work to be ready, tho. Like the enhancements. Also, remember that when you get your first point in a mega attribute, it comes with a free enhancement, which is how we got one for Mega Wits. The max number of enhancements in any attribute you can have is your mega attribute value for that particular attribute. This means we still need to choose a few more free ones.New enhancements past the first one cost 3 exp each.
I kinda wanna buy Ned a point of Mega Intelligence so that he can get his hands on Analyze Weakness, but I dunno how useful it'd be with his crap quantum score.
You know, I just realized Ami has plenty of powers and tricks we NEVER ever used before on her sheet. Im gonna try to make cards for those too so we (read: me) don't forget again
>>30211150We have Mega Int 1 coming down the pipe to go with Medicine (which is the skill that Secret Pressure Point runs off)Now Ned has Quantum 3, he can do more stuff. I'm thinking that, rather than going to Powers route, more Enhancements is the way to go (keeping the idea of Ned becoming the best businessman he can be, via metahuman means)I say this in no small part because I just checked the Wiki, and good lord, there are some fun-sounding optionsMega Wits>Razor Wit: You can hurt someone's confidence so badly that they perform badlyGoing full-on Paul Heyman/Bobby The Brain Heenan, this would let Ned cut promos on his fighters' opponents to nobble them>Human Nature: You can figure out another person's deep modivationsPairs nicely with Natural Empath>Synergy: You become the lynchpin of a particular group (Has Errata)How does this one work? It sounds good>Lie Detector: You can tell if someone is intentionally lying to youSurely an essential choice for a businessman?Mega Manip: Pretty sure we already had PersuaderMega Charisma:>Natural Agitator: You are able to steer the mood of an entire group>Soothe: You are able to calm all those around you>Inspiration: Your message carries your passion to those spreading it to othersAny or all of these would be great for managing our stable and the band
>>30211433actually secret pressure point runs off medicine + wits, for some reason.
>>30211433Well the main reason I chose Analyse Weakness is that it could be used both in business and in combat, finding out the weakness of a fighting style another Nova uses, an exploit or loophole in a contract we can use to our advantage, any flaws in the merchandise we produce, ect,Really the reason I was worried about his low Quantum was because I figured we'd be using it pretty much non-stop, since it has so many uses.>SynergyDidn't really find enough info to properly judge it.>Razor Wit, >Human NatureYup, you're pretty much spot-on with it.>Lie DetectorI disagree, there's ways to get around this shit, purposly leaving yourself out of the loop/aka plausible deniabiltiy, talking like a fucking fae, hypnosis. Not only does Natural Empath + Human Nature pretty much do the same thing, but Lie Detector encourages our foes to act like some shit you're see in Dune or something. All three of the Mega Charisma sound useful.
>>30210979>I think TKOAD made a special exception, which kinda makes sense, since our character pretty much revolves around business.nah, we have a special ability that allows us to take an extra dot. There is another similar ability in the Adventure! Core rulebook which apparently stacks. That said the additional things I want are:Non-Powers: Mega Appearance, Seduction (I think it would be funny to have)Powers: More mental shielding, empathic manipulation, and maybe luck
>>30211542We already have Synergy and have been using it. For Ned, its really, really awesome. Best ability hands down.
>>30211556>>30211569these are me incidentally.
>>30211542>Analyse Weaknessseems fine to me>>30211556I didin't made a exception, I just included the heroic knacks from the rest of the trinity books into character creation. Is why Ami has 6 dots on martial arts, why Lyann has 6 dots on perform, and why Ned has 6 dots on business.>similar ability in the Adventure! Core rulebookNo, is not similar. I used THAT ONE exactlyI've been working on the cards. Moving away from MTG and favoring Aberrant rulings and wordings for them. I think it should be less confusing. Hell, if anyone prints them and keeps them around at hand during thread times, my inner geek would go "eeeeeeh!" like a little girl
>>30211569Fuck, I just read the discription in the WW wiki, and it just said something about becoming a lynchpin. Now that I read it in the book, yeah I can see why it's good.
>>30211556>SeductionUnnecessary. Ned could get laid without it, if he wanted to, and he's not the kind of sleazeball who'd try flirting to get a better business deal.
Well, do you guys want to get started with doing things, or are we just going to discuss about new enhancements and stuff today too? tho its understabndable since we had so much exp and still have so much exp left on Ned
>>30212128Just got here and am (probably) good to go. Not sure about Edric and Bookie though.
>>30212128In this example I I used the MTG template since its the one I am the most familiar with in the TCG family/community.On the left edge of the card you can see the Quantum Cost of the power, represented by 2 red mana symbols to show it costs 2 Quantum Points to activate. Red Mana = Quantum Points seemed good eo me.Im using a red background for active, aggressive powers and enhancements, and green for passive ones.Pic related, I just noticed we have never used her regeneration before
>>30212128Uhh, I've just been waiting to start since the opening of the thread.
>>30212216Well, let me see... where were we last time... checked on Aleksander, then left... going to the Quantum Labs to check on Okaba, right? Also fuck, that card was meant to be green
>>30212128I thought we were leaning towards maxing out Ned's enhancements for about 30 XPIf we have points to burn, maybe some more physical Attributes would be worth it.. More Dex and Stamina? Or going the whole hog and getting Ned a power? Until Node Reconfiguration is an option, we've maxed out Ned's business related skills already
>>30212374We still have about 128 exp left for Ned since we never used any except to make him into a SuperiorUnless anyone says otherwise, moving on to check on Okaba now.
>>30212406The drive to the Watanabe Quantum Labs is slow due to traffic, but as usual, the personnel in the building itself are polite and atent, and quickly invite you in.Watanabe Kenji, the owner, is not present in the building right now.You pass into the laboratories as such, and find Okaba in a specially built wind tunnel, where he is trying to fly against a hurricane wind with a parachute open behind him to push him back.He is obviously having a hard time, but stays in the exact spot without budging a inch. You announce yor presence through a mic, and the technicians stop the wind tunnel slowly so he can come out and talk to you.Okaba: "Ah, mister Salter, here to check on me?"Ned: "Well, yes, you know I like keeping track on the wellbeing of all of my people."Okaba explains how he's been working on his strenght and endurance, rather than mere speed. The technicians say he could probably learn to create an area blast similar to a shockwave around wherever he is, with some more constant work.
>>30212605"Excellent news. I always knew there was great potential in you, we just had to bring it out"
>>30212740Okaba: "I am honestly a bit confused still. I understand this is the entertainment business, but I am trained as a field agent, and showy moves are not my thing, mister Salter"*******Do you tell him it's just being professional on his new field, or suggest he looks for something more efficient?
>>30212759Explain that its just being professional
>>30212780Roll Diplomacy or another skill you feel appropiate
Rolled 10, 7, 8, 9, 3, 8, 10, 1, 1, 8, 5, 10, 10 = 90>>30212830command might be the right skill actually. Same dice-pool though.
>>30212928Well, command is to, well, give orders. I guess it depends on if you want to reason with him or remind him he's now your employee.Anyway, that's a successful roll so he sees the sense in what you are saying, and agrees.*****Okaba: "In that case, maybe I could try to fight on ground more? Flying is flashy on itself, of course, but I've been told is not a fan-favorite unless both fighters can fly. I was thinking in using my wings' extra reach to do sweeps and strikes."
>>30212928Diplomacy with the Persuasive quality would be the way to go. Ned has never been the type to boss people around
Do you encourage him to use physical or special attacks? Right now he has a form of Quantum Blast on which he "shoots" explosive feathers. He could upgrade it to shoot several feathers at the same time, gaining the "strafing" ability, essentially working like an automated minigun bathing an area with bullets. Would give him a good attack bonus.Or should he do more physical attacks? he's handsome and muscular looking, and many of his fans are females who simply want to watch him pummel other guys in the ring.
>>30213145I think the strafing ability initially. The top gun competition will be soon after all.
>>30212976>>30213145I guess it depends. If he's fighting a melee specialist like Brass, playing the distance game works (float like a butterfly) but if he's outmatched at range, closing the gap is the way to win.>Use Feather Barrage to soften up foes>Power Dive attack to close to melee range>Flyby strike with wings>Fist-based violenceThe more I think about it, the more fun we could have making his wings into Quantum Weapons. You know the whole thing about a swan's wings being powerful enough to break a man's arm? We go for the XWF equivalent of that
>>30213145Hmm, I say go with the feathers, most of our fighters work in close, and having another fighter use more ranged attacks will have bring some diversity, as well as fit with his whole theme. For melee, I was thinking of quantum weaponing him a 'broadsword' as well as using Quantum Conversion in said sword to grant fire, refluffed as a searing light, to fit with his theme.
>>30213274Or Ami. Pic related, it's her flowchartI like your ideas, btw. And yeah, wings have to be pretty strong to do what they do. A wing large enough to lift a man... Okaba's wings are probably stronger than his arms.>>30213351It seems you both want Quantum Weapon. Maybe his wings are on fire? possible Quantum Weapon + Immolate combo?
>>30213471Okaba: "I don't know... I'm not sure how that would work. I guess I can ask the scientists here and see what they think. Still, it sounds like a good idea."******Want him to go for Quantum Weapon next, then immolate, or just Quantum Weapon?
>>30213559Sorry, just got back from dealing with snow (sadly there will be more untimely disappearances, we're supposedly getting over a foot today) and had a thought. Instead of fire why don't we go with electricity for his element? That way he isn't stepping on Ami's portfolio, and we can work thunderbird themes into his marketing. Electricity would probably also be a bit more sublptle/useful for his espionage gig.
>>30213622Fire, as you say, is Ami's bailiwick, better to keep the gimmicks separate.Electricity could be good, but might fit better with Paladin and his air-powers.If we're marketing Okaba with the Angel gimmick, does the Quantum Weapon have to be elemental? It cold just be untyped damage, fluffed to *look* like Holy Fire>>30213351I get where you're coming from with the sword, but I feel like we should make more of his wings. They're pretty badass, and should be made even more so
>>30213622Immolate can be any type of energy. Fire, electricity, nuclear, quantum itself, cold, sonic, light, whatever you want. For shit and giggles, let's make it "solar" since he's an angel, solars are the strongest angels, and I want to someday see a vampire crap itself thinking about it.
>>30213737Forgot my pic. One of her scariest basic maneuvers, except for her improved Clinch
>>30213762So? solar quantum sword, solar immolate, solar quantum bolt? Now we need to get him a golden helmet and solar-based regeneration before he can shout BIIIIIRDMAAAAAN!!Would it be hard to get him a pet eagle, I wonder?
>>30213926I can get behind any of those (except maybe the eagle, I've been pecked by too many pet birds)...I'd prefer immolate but if we're doubling down on the angel theme I'm not sure that we can avoid the broadsword suggestion.
>>30213992Sword is kinda better. You can do some cool stuff with swords in Aberrant, but there really isn't a martial arts discipline for wings.
>>30213992I don't see why we can't use a broadword on fire, really.
>>30214120Anyway, we move forward a few weeks in time to launch the album, then get started with Brass fighting in Omega Division, or is there any more preparation you guys want to do before that?
>>30214163Hmmm, if we are doing a Euphry show in the end we might want to make sure some of the camera crew have experience living and operating in war zones. We're we also planing to ask if she'd like to Moonlight at the XFW starting midsession as a Heel? I think she'd go for it, but the thought of her training her destructive powers makes me a bit leery.
>>30214120>>30214163I think I favour moving towards album launch and fights. We need to get Ric to let the band perform live on the first XWF broadcast of the season, because of the sheer amount of market penetration it would give us>>30214237I think we should pitch it to Euphry *after* the season starts, so she can see what she's letting herself in for.
>>30214237Oh right, I had forgotten that. I think that rather than a daily show, maybe it should be a series of specials, like Sex and the City was? Also, making the cards really helped me visualize the best ways to play Ami.Either 1) punch (possibly more than one) -> hold/clinch (use a special hold of clinch)2) tackle -> hold/clinch (use a special hold of clinch)3) Catch Limb -> hold/clinch (use a special hold of clinch)All of it while being on fire. Use pic related against airborne enemies
>>30214310>get Ric to let the band perform live on the first XWF broadcast of the season, because of the sheer amount of market penetration it would give usGenius. Wait, is that before or after the album release? the night right before?
>>30214381I had no idea we could.
>>30214423It's on her sheet.Anyway, Im thinking in doing Aura's sheet again with this pic, what do you think? naugthy enough, or not naugthy enough? I like that her current pic has horns, tho.
>>30214314I was thinking more like an episodic documentary. So leave a crew embedded with her, have a second unit to do interviews and canned footage (canned might be the wrong word, I mean photography of venues, equipment etc.) and then ether release the entire season at once on the net, or release an episode a month or so. Just try to make it seem real but with some kind of a narrative to follow.
>>30214449Insufficiently naughty. Also, we probably need a central repository of these sheets that you can link to the OP.
>>30214381The night of. Have the album go on sale at midnight and have them perform a few hours earlier to maximize their exposure and the public's interest.
>>30214449Maybe I'll use it for Euphry's sheet>>30214455I like that idea.First two episodes are just Euphry painting the apartment, the neighbors, the filming crew and the town in red.Third episode is Ned talking to her about joining the XWF (silver? she's really not tailored as a fighter at all, violent as she is, she's still quite "girly" you know?). I think Silver Division could use the huge popularity boost she would give it.The other episodes... I dunno, I cant see beyond 3 months into the future, cut me some slack and give ideas yourself, would you?>>30214484I liked the style. Sure, its manga but it's cool looking, almost noir-like manga, no cute big eyes, if you know what I mean. How about for Euphry, then?>>30214505I really like your ideasI have posted the sheets many times. You need any one sheet again? anyway, I think I'm like 90% done translating Ami's powers into cards. Just need stuff that's not really useful, like flying kicks and sweep.Tackle IS useful, tho. I think I still need to do tackle.
>>30214580I'm personally good. I just figured that a central repository could help anyone new.
>>30214609Well, when we are about to start figthing again I'll post the updated sheets. Which reminds me I need to update Brass now if we want to start fighting with him soon. I should also make his cards. I really liked this card idea. It really helped (me at least) to conceptualize the best possible fighting style/combos for Ami.Tackle/punch -> clinch/hold (use special clinch or hold of course, but having the clinch/hold cards around really helps since all the special ones make reference to them)Oh, did you know the surface of the sun is "only" 5.000 degrees, but the area around 100 kilometers high is 200 times hotter, sending the laws of thermodinamics to fuck themselves because the sun and the empty space around it are the only case where the thing being heated is hotter than the thing heating it up? thermodinamics don't (other than for the sun) work that way
>>30214701So, just stop for today and tomorrow start with the concert (I really cant imagine Ric saying no to this idea), then the first fight on Omega League? Ill update Brass' sheet now and do his cards.
>>30215042See you tomorrow, guys.
>>30215042Sounds good to me.But I have one question: How much in-game effort is required to get Mega-Attribute Enhancements? Once we spend the XP to get Enhancements for Ned, how long before we can start using them? I'm thinking of things like the Mega Charisma stuff to get the band to behave
>>30215103Hopefully will see you then! If not, thanks for continuing to run this, even when I don't get to participate I get a kick out of reading the character interactions in the archive.
>>30215130Eh, I think it depends. If you suddenly grow the ability to walk in the sun... well that should probably need some time to explain. But being more convincing seems fine to me
