>Previous thread:> https://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/29882263> http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/29882263You are Nick Trimmers, formerly a dissatisfied peasant barber from a terrifying medieval utopia of thatched-roof cottages, enforced health programs, and Things Peasantkind is Not Meant to Know. Despite what the Lords & Ladies of that would have preferred, you proved to be made of sterner stuff than most, or at least stuff that is fiercely unhappy in a world of enforced monotony. On one of your rebellious trips into the Forbidden places, you came across a chance to go farther than you had ever imagined. Now you possess an amazing connection with the fabric of reality with the promise of great potential, though you are still trying to get a handle on what all that means.
>>30045217Upon your first visit to another world, Nick found a peaceful isle and made friendly contact with a group of water sprites there, followed by inadvertently angering a local nature spirit of some sort, buffing about fire powers, and panic girdering hard- Pulling upon unknown abilities, triggering a dimensional vortex that sucked you, sand, water, and vegetation roughly through space-time and depositing you in a new place.. in the middle of a mystical storm which battered you further, as well as the water sprite Jana you left in the storm while panic-scrabbling for cover.Surviving the storm, you tended to the unconscious sprite and angrily berated the locals when initially brushed off by them. Eventually making a decent connection with Thrickett, some kind of bugheaded creature serving as a 'medic', which seems to be a local variant of the physikers that you are familiar with, who as provided the both of you with treatment through an emergency-service loophole, and is willing to spot you some 'credits' for continued treatment of Jana at the medical pavilion if you can secure a source of income. Also, managed to talk down Axmel of the Steelhearth, who got quite irate at your initial commentary on his ratty beard, though by the end he seemed to be considering your offer to give him a proper trim later.

>>30045342Working with Thrickett, you managed to identify the strange mushroom you acquired as a food product of the fairy folk, a literal Magic Mushroom with powerful, but pleasant, hallucinogenic properties. After some consideration, you divided it up, giving a section to Thrickett to include in Jana's feedtube (hoping that fairy food would help her recovery, worst case really pleasant dreams), and strapping into a bed and taking some yourself in an attempt to meditate deeper into your abilities. Intending to look into selling the remaining portions of the mushroom for local currency. Before going under, Thrickett was working to set up a meeting between you and someone he thought might know the market for that item.Currently, you have been released from your drug-fueled vision quest, and are enjoying pleasant hallucinations as you slowly come down..
-QM Disclaimer-This is my first quest, I type at a speeds rivaled by the three-toed tree sloth, and a shiny object might distract me at any moment. Hell, even snowed in I'm only starting an hour earlier than originally planned.Generally, Random Dimensional Quest runs Wednesdays, starting around 7pm EST and going until I can't stay functional any more.I enjoy random rolls and tables, many of which I won't be sharing beforehand for spoiler reasons. As a GM/DM, I tend toward sandbox campaigns. As a QM, we'll see how well I can keep that up. I'll likely use a mix of die rolls, and low/high as well, depending on the situation, but we'll see what works out best for us.Choices: If we are looking at multiple choice, I'll tend to [bracket] the core choice, often with some example text afterward. Some times there might be a '/' between different choices within the text for sub-selections and personality/emotional choices as we go.As we develop the character the choices should become more tailored to what we've expressed so far.Good luck, thanks for your patience, and here's hoping we all have fun!

You have found that, after a few moments around intelligent beings, you are able to understand and speak with them in their own language. Limited understanding of body-langauge seems to be included as well. Doesn't seem to work with written words or with these strange things they call 'machines' and 'computers'. Seems to fade when out of contact with people speaking said language. Does not seem to be directly tied to your mystical abilities.>cont
>>30045448Through mediation and magic hallucinogens, you have become aware of a host of abilities that have been granted to you through your link to the cosmos:Proficient Dimension and Anomaly SenseWorking knowledge of the workings of dimensions, multiple planes of existence, theories of parallel worlds, and similar brain-bending topics. Indoor plumbing is still an unknown mystery, however.Understanding of magic, and knowledge that there is a kind of magic you can manipulate, little of which is known to you. (Novice awareness)You are aware of the realities you have been to, and may return to them, with sufficient transportation. You are aware that, when travelling randomly across dimensions, you might be able to affect where you land to some extent. (Novice Awareness)You are aware that you possess the ability to create permanent pocket dimensions, but that such costs a measure of your own power permanently. Given your limited understanding of your own power, it is not recommended at this time. However, it does give you deep insight into the nature of similarly created realms.
As you drift through warming splashes of light and good vibes, a strange creature nudges you and offers you a flipper. Without words, you know that it is offering to guide you back to yourself.A strange concept, but it does seem like the time to return is drawing near.As you travel, you have the strange impression that, whatever this thing is, whether a construct of the knowledge lurking in your subconcious or an actual being, is willing to answer a small amount of questions directly in the time before you regain yourself.>What would you ask of it?Leaving this one open ended.
>>30045594(Though in hindsight, leading into the quest with a dream whale and an open-ended question when starting at a different time than usual might not be the greatest move.)>Have some example topics:[Powers] What are they? Can you teach me to do <blank>?[Curiosity] What is the reason for meaning? What are you?[Investigation] Who caused that energy storm that struck Arsenal? What was that angry nature woman thing on the last world I was on?[Barber] What hair styles are 'in' around this strange place anyway? Can I use my newfound cosmic powers to trim beards?[Capitalism] How do these credits work anyway? What are prices like?[Arsenal] What are all those damn things anyway? How would I use them?
>>30045965[Home] Man, I bet Greg is doing great right now, he was being invited in by the Lords & Ladies, probably there right now..[The Seat] So.. what was that thing that sent me out into the multiverse, anyway?[Jana] How do you treat an injured sprite?[Medical] Just how different is what these guys do compared to what I know?
>>30046132[Bump] So.. how's it going?
Going to grab some grub.Feel free to continue discussing things.Back in about 20.
>>30048941Don't you have a twitter, or something? I thought you did. Why is no one else here?
>>30048981(That I do, had notice going out well in advance too. Guess my opening piece didn't catch anyone's interest.)
>>30048865>>30045594As you float through the mellow dreamscape, you inquire curiously about that strange seat that set you on this path, and shortly your mind is clouded with swirling images and thoughts. The Perilous Seat, a phenomena that appears in a variety of forms on different worlds, the one from your homeworld appears and functions only around times of high mana, when the flow between world's is strongest. It sends transports a person seated upon it at the right time to the place most suited to them.. in your case you were apparently given passage into the space between and beyond realities. Which is normally impossible, perhaps hinting that the awakening of power within you was not entirely fueled by outside forces. The origins of such devices is an open mystery, occasionally on god-like being or another will take credit, but they are usually simply found and manipulated by them in these cases, but often people with great destinies are associated with them. You sense your body and mind are nearing each other again, leaving time for perhaps a single question more.
>>30049278>Acquired- Lore: Siege Perilous
Powers: What Do They Do Vol. 1.
>>30049540This in response to>>30049278
>>30049278>Bonus lore:The Lost King Petronius celebrated the appearance of your world's device with a preceeding two-day feast and allowing the winners of competitions the option to try the Seat when the time came, warning that they would never return, but should they remain after taking the Seat, he would name them his heir. This information confuses you, as you've never heard of such a person and doubt that High Lord Ejmond would approve of a King.>>30049540>>30049561They manipulate the potential energies of life to draw upon your connection to the cosmos to affect reality and the flow between them, often used to facilitate travel and to wrap conditions around the user. The information floating around your mind in response to this question helps solidify some of the information you are been fuzzy on.>Novice skill: Dimensional Travel>Novice skill: Dimensional Communication>Spell knowledge: Close Portal, Dimensional Portal, Re-Open Gateway, Alter Environment (minor environmental alteration), Dimensional Vortex (this last you recognize as the effect that sucked you in and deposited you here randomly).
>>30049875Eventually, you are aware of the weight of your body again and the lingering happy-thoughts flicker away, as you groan and look around.Thrickett looks up at the sound and quickly moves to your side, antenna fidgeting as he looks over your readings beore nodding them in satisfaction."Good reading, excellent. Welcome back strangefriend, was your trip well?" He works to undo your restraints and free you from the bed you were strapped into."Coworkerhealer is contacted, agrees to see you. Is day off, but interested in your fungus. Still wish to meet, yes?" Thrickett headtilts at you questioningly, seeking confirmation.
>>30049875>Additional explanations:>Dimensional Travel.Beyond spell use, you have the ability to transfer only yourself to a number of worlds/locations you have developed a connection to. Also can attempt to travel to other worlds at flow convergence points. At current proficiency, the chances of landing off target are higher.>Dimensional CommunicationAbility to open a tiny portal to another location for communication purposes or passing of some objects, takes time to perform. Similar success chances as Travel ability.
>>30050064[Yes] "Yeah, guess I should figure out what I can get for this stuff.."[No] "I am going to get sooo high.." May have diminishing returns.[Other] Avoid question and say/ask something else first?
>>30051026And you may wish to pause the quest for now, seeing as we are 2 people running a semi-popular quest.
>>30051355Is a bit slow, but I'll keep hanging around and see who wants to participate. If no one does, it'll keep until next time. I shall endure until then.>>30051318Thrickett gives you a rolled sheet of a smooth material (he calls it 'plastic' when asked) with a map and a couple locations marked in different colors. He goes over the directions to his coworker's apartment a couple times and you have a fair understanding of the map symbols before heading out.Travel through the 'streets' of Arsenel is a strange and disorienting experience, particularly for one unused to the glam and glitz that advertisement can bring to bare. Everything from simple stands, modest storefronts, to bedazzled 'open-air' dealerships of massive warmachines. You aren't sure what a phased plasma rifle or what kind of range a watt covers, but it certainly sounds impressive, though the moving image of someone collapsing with a hole through them is a bit scary. You can see the building that matches the description of the one you seek, dismissing fears of being lost, allowing a moment to consider whether you want to explore more first, or continue on to the target location.>Continue, Explore, Other?
>>30051672Wait around for a bit, make sure no one was following us. Just get a newspaper from somewhere on the ground. You KNOW people in this place MUST litter.
>>30051718You take the time to look around yourself a bit better, rather than gawk or try to focus past the distractions to follow the map.The clientele seems to have quite a bit of variety, though as you begin to take in the body language of those around you, you get a feel for three chief types.People moving around in a manner they consider 'professional', clothing seems neatly pressed and unfaded, though the styles will vary. Seem to be evenly balanced amounts of each amongst shoppers and sellers.Others are a bit more ragged in their appearance as well as their body language, sudden motions of noises draw their attention sharply and their arms flex instinctively toward places that weapons might be. More of these seem to be among the shopper than the sellers, but some of the shopkeepers and stall owners seem a bit fidgety and rough around the edges at well. Then there is a third category, which might be more of a 'grab bag', but a handful of individuals walk around with no unifying style, but all seem confident and the sellers tend to take notice when they roll up. Snatches of conversation seem to indicate that they are individual contractors or private individuals with fund enough to purchase 'serious' hardware for themselves. As part sales floor, the streets are relatively clean, save for discarded ad flyers and product spec sheets. While you don't understand the words, the imagry is rather impressive on much of it.>Rolll 1d100, Roll high as you look around for anything unusual or following you.
Rolled 82>>30052055May I roll three times for best out of 3?
>>30052497>>30052510>>30052534They all end in 2...
>>30052550Random numbers are strange and mysterious.>>30052497You focus your senses and look around yourself, studying the people around you. After a few moments observation, you feel fairly confident that no one is paying undue attention to you. Sellers eye you as you pass and some of the personal-gear dealers hawk their wares, but you get the impression your simple clothes are shielding you from much attention.>>30052510One thing you do notice is that your focus has been so total that you didn't realize your hands were making motions and mouth muttering alien syllables until they suddenly stopped and wave of sensation washes over you..>Spell Unlocked: Spatial SensesYou find yourself aware of everything within a several yards of you for around a minute, with all of your senses.>>30052534And promptly throw up the first time as your mind learns to understand that information. Don't think you'll have that problem next time, but you don't think you'll ever enjoy being aware of what vomit tastes like just by being near it.On the upside, while you think you've earned a number of odd and concerned looks from your casting and vomiting, you are even more sure that none of them seem to be following you are you stagger away with an apology.
>>30052950Gotta go, it's like 2 am where i live. See Ya! And thanks for the quest!
>>30052980Anytime you have a good night!
To those just tuning in, our hero Nick Trimmers is on his way to the apartment of one Thrickett's coworkers that reportedly has an interest in recreational substances to see if you can find someone interested in the literal magic mushroom so that you can acquire some local currency. You recently unleashed you first spell subconsciously while looking around carefully to make sure no one was stalking you at the moment. You still have a few moments of total awareness of the area around you left.>What would you like to do?[Investigate immediate the area further while under the effects of the spell.][Hurry on to the apartment][Other]
Welp, looks like it's a slow night, gonna call it early here at the 10 hour mark.Everybody have a good night!
