I was thinking about it, and we can probably get the rest of the band through holo meetings. Lyann and Mako were the only ones that were going to really need personal meetings, for different reasons. That way we get back to the US sooner, and can continue organizing stuff. Need to give any finishing touches on Brass for his fight with bomber lord in a month (can be up to two months), decide a training plan for the others, get the new game on the way, and begin setting up the band properly.Did we ever decide a name for the band?
Flux was my suggestion
>>29409467Good enough for me. I was worried I got here late, luckily I'm pretty much on time.
>>29409467I... can't like that, for some reasonflux (flks)n.1.a. A flow or flowing.b. A continued flow; a flood. See Synonyms at flow.2. The flowing in of the tide.3. Medicine The discharge of large quantities of fluid material from the bodyIt just sounds like we are assembling PMS: The BandAnyone has other suggestion? well, we have until the end of the thread. So far we have 1 vote for flux********That evening, as you enjoy a meal at the island's cafeteria, you see the person the clones ifentify for you as the Sifu, walking into the place for a meal of its own.Mako is chewing on a large bowl of sweet duck and spices. While a large bowl, it is still a tiny meal by the standards you have gotten used to around novas, however.Mako: "Mister Salter, could you... uhmm... could you teach me to swim?"
>>29409467How about Fusion? A melding of disparate things into something more
>>29409553"Uh... Sure, Mako, I can teach you the basics if you want. I'm not really a teacher, though; I have a friend in the States who is an expert at teaching people to do things. If you want to learn properly, she's the one to ask."
>>29409560>>29409592Both those were me, BTW. Hi guys.
>>29409601Hullo!As for band names, the only thing I can really think of is the uber-cheesy Supernova.
>>29409617I actually used that for a power armor name in one of my Aberrant campaigns.
>>29409592I like it but I think there's a music style called that way. Would be odd like having a band simply called Jazz>>29409592Mako: "I just..." -she goes quiet, then keeps eating as she blushesThe Sifu, a few tables over, is an attractive (tho that is almost the norm around novas) asian woman with very long, snow-colored hair. She seems to be in her very early twenties, tho appearances are a poor hint for homo sapiens novus. She is having a large meal of greens, and is dressed in a very stylish version of a work out suit. She looks more like a model than a spiritual and fitness advisor, somehow. Her mannerisms are quite feminine in an almost old fashioned manner. Reminds you a lot of your companion. She notices you looking at her, and greets you with a nod and a smile, but doesn't seems to mind.>>29409617Maybe it could be a long name shortened to its initial, like Nova Sapiens Musicalis (or however you would say it), shortened to NSM
>>29409677Politely introduce ourselves.
>>29409702You make a gesture as if to pick your plate and place it on her table, clearly marking that you want to move over to eat with her. She holds your gaze with her own, and instead picks up her small table and carries it over towards yours.Eli: "Good evening. Excuse me" -she places her table next to yours, making a larger one- "Lyann does not usually have this many guests at the same time. I've been here for almost three months and it was just us, Dawn, and the clones so far" -she finishes placing everything in order and takes a seat- "I am Elizabeth Young, a pleasure meeting you"
>>29409746we supposed to respond to this?
>>29409950yes. I guess I will use the mark thing
>>29409746"Ned Salter, likewise"
>>29409978Liz: "So, you came all the way over here to recruit Lyann into a music group? that is somehow charming, in a kids playing together kind of way. Did you got her to say yes?"Marks. also, back in 10 minutes
>>29410072"She was considering it when she went to sleep. It appears the technique you taught her took a lot out of her. As for childish... I wouldn't think so. Talented Novas in mass media fields can attract a lot of attention and money. Whether they use that attention and money to serve themselves or worthy causes determines its childishness I think."
>>29410147"Quite a few do both of course. Nothing wrong with a little capitalism after all."
>>29410147>>29410180Liz: "Well, at least it worked... Oh, she said it didin't for that teragen girl's benefit, I know. If you are going to be working with her, do you want me to give you some advice?"She notices Mako looking at her food, and serves the girl a bit, despite her protests about it*mark*
>>29410401"Certainly. I also work with quite a few members of the XWF who'd probably be interested in such knowledge as well, though Samuel will probably be disappointed that he can't accomplish it with boxing."
>>29410401"Advice is nice. Go ahead"
>>29410458>implying Python won't create Nova Boxing to cure his taint
>>29410470>implying Pythong needs to cure it rather than just punching the Taint into his opponents.
>>29410460Liz: "If you want her to respect and trust you, you need to be firm and honest with her. Whenever she starts going into stupid details, tell her so. If you just want to work well with her, try to flatter her and tell her "it's already perfect" or so. She's much too smart to get tricked, but she is not so smart she can't trick herself to defend her ego, you know?">>29410470I always assumed he was gonna go back in time into Exalted and create sidereal boxing, which will end in punching people into ducks
>>29410470Cure taint by punching really, really fast.
>>29410488Mako: "That last bit sounds kind of mean..."Liz: "It works, however." -then to you- "If your friend is a sportsman, I would enjoy working with him. There's no reason to think my arts are perfect already."She gives you her contact info*******MarkAlso >Achievement Unlocked "Sifu's Phone Number"
>>29410519"He was the world champion in every boxing weight class before he erupted, and he's only gotten better since. Sportsman pretty much defines him. Anyway, I hope to earn her trust and respect. After all, I take my job as manager quite seriously. If I don't give my clients the best advice and support I'm doing them a tremendous disservice."
>>29410488Is punching people into ducks possible in this system?
>>29410470>>29410487>>29410503>Python develops the ability to punch at the fundamental biological frequency of a Mazarin-Rashoud node>He can now tinker with other Nova's M-R nodes, including punching the Taint out of them, or creating more instars
>>29410617Not by core. But I'm sure we can cook up something for it if we tried. Out of the top of my head1) With a high enough quantum, you can modify powers in silly ways--> This includes changing powers with a range of "self" into "on touch", then "5ft range" then "10ft range"... etc2) The shape change/polimorph power is "self"3) Python has a pretty high quantum>>29410589Liz: "Well, I can´t stay with her to push her in the right direction forever, so if you are willing to be a real friend to her, I will try and get her to go with you. But if you hurt her I will turn you into a large, green unicellular blobl" -she says with a smile, but perfectly seriousThe following day, Lyann looks much better. She is walking around (some would say floating, the way she moves on tiptoes all the time) and wearing a light summer dress with a large straw hat, carrying a large hand-made straw backpack with lots of different art tools. You are talking with her as she strolls around the beach, apparently looking for a good spot to start a new painting inLyann: "Mister Salter, do you still think I could actually work together with the people in the band?"mark
>>29410711The thing that made me fall in love with the system, despite all its glaring flaws, is how easy it is to make new powers just by modding the existing ones, or using motherfucking common sense to make totally new powers.
>>29410711Duck Punch is apparently a thing. Can we take the flaw "Can only polymorph into a duck"As for Lyann "Of course. Not saying it won't take some effort, but if you're willing to put in the effort it will happen."
>>29410711"Absolutely. In the XWF, I have a 'demon' and an 'angel' working as a double-act on a reality TV show. Getting people to cooperate is a speciality of mine, because it's essential for getting the best out of everyone"
>>29410772I always thought a groundhog would be funnier, somehow>>29410772>>29410775Lyann: "Well, if you think so... would you like to pose for a sketch with miss Tsun? just sit or stand however you want over that rock, over there... yes, that's good. Stand a bit closer... miss Tsun, could you hold mister Salter's hand? perfect, stay like that for a bit. Oh, we can keep talking."You chat for a bit while she paints. A few days later, all of you are arriving at the US together. Aritsu is there to meet you at the airport.Aritsu: "I have a limousine waiting, sir. Did you had a nice flight?"*******MarkLike I said, thinking that we can contact the others by holoconference. Lyann and Mako were the only ones with special circumstances that really needed your presence to get on board, after all.Only one doubt I have. We still getting Bella to get 2 drummers? I think it would be several kinds of awesome
>>29410844"Yes we did."As for the others, let me review their char sheets in the archives. Also, I think the first thing we should do once we check in and get everyone settled is to look into our PIs, spies and various semi legal contacts.
>>29410844"Excellent, thank you Ritsu."Turning to Lyann and Mako, we make introductions"Lyann, Mako, this is Aritsu, my right-hand woman. She's supremely efficient, and can organise damn near anything at a moment's notice. Ritsu, I'd appreciate it if you could take these lovely ladies in hand, help get them settled.">mfw I realise we've effectively made the Nova equivalent of Jem and the Holograms
>>29410844Drummer's that chick who randomly takes off her clothes, right? Also what instrument does the Russian chick play?
>>29410945Drummer does *what*? OOC, that sounds a little bit oddIC, wait 'til she meets Aura...
>>29410903Okay, We all agreed we wanted Aleksander, I kinda found Sinow interesting as well.
>>29410945Yes.Sings, guitar, keyboard.****Aritsu: "Very well sir. Should I get separate floors for each of them, or are they staying together?"Mako: "Oh, can we stay together in one place?"Lyann: "It may be better if we each get our own place. I can be hard to live with">>29410968She gets "heated up" during performances and has a tendency to strip. Critics love her, saying she's too primal and can´t be held back. She actually strips randomly.>>29410980That was a typo, her name is Sinoe********Mark
>>29410996"Its probably best that you get used to dealing with others Lyann. I won't dictate your housing arrangements though."
>>29411034Lyann: -stares at Mako- "You really want to go through with it?"The chinese beauty nods with a smile. She looks almost child-like as she does so.Lyann: "D-- fine, but I am dragging you to a good mall as soon as I find one. I've had it with you and those dresses"Mako: "What is wrong with my dresses?"Lyann: "I'll teach you later."Once everyone is on board of the limousine, Aritsu starts telling you about things which require your urgent attention, and things which could benefit from your direct attention.Aritsu: "The budget for the new ads for the downloadable content was approved, of course. Do you want to pick a studio for it, use the XWF personnel, or should I deal with it?"*mark
>>29411058Pretty much this entire thread has been you beating me to the punch every time I'm about to say something. It's why I haven't been posting that much.
>>29411124Do we know any studio's that are better than the XWF?
>>29411124Uhh let's do it ourselves if we have enough free time, if we don't; delegate to Aritsu.
>>29411154Probably not off the top of your head>>29411155You should probably let Ritsu deal with it, then, so you can take time talking to your PI and looking into other things. You still need to decide on a training regime for everyone for the 1-2 months they have left before the season starts.Ami, Aura, Brass, Eldric, Okaba and Python. Do you want them to work onBasic Attributes (str, dex, stamina)Powers (developing new powers or improving the ones they have)Defenses (mental, hp, etc)Or something else? Also, for the band, will you just throw everyone into a meeting room and bar the doors until a leader emerges, or will you assign them their functions?
>>29411268What about our silver league fightes, who's handling their training? Also I'd like to purchase Dormancy for Ned to hide our Quantum signature for future encounters. (I'm kinda pissed we got found out so easily, if I knew people could 'sense' it, I would've advocated buying it earlier before meeting the Terra girl.)
>>29411268Brass: New powers to add to his damage. Maybe sprinkle in some more soak and HPPython: Defenses and mastering/improving Qui Meng with Sifu.Ami: Upgrade clone and ImmolateEldric: No idea really, don't think we've ever fought with himOkaba: Quantum bolts and suchlike.Aura: Learn to fight, and HP/soak.Us: Mega Social, psi shield and empathic manipulation.
>>29411353One of the very few advantages a psiad has over a Nova is they're immune to such detection. Of course, according to RAW they get 12 nova points at character creation instead of the usual 30, and have a bunch of really brutal statcaps.
>>29411353We sort of dumped them unto Mai, since they were sort of background characters, Is there one or more you want to dedicate to, especifically? I honestly dont really remember them. It's been a while>>29411369for Ami, weren't we going to "fix" her forcefield so it wasnt automatic anymore?for Eldric, when in doubt, go back to basics. You cant have too much basics, which in this case I think would be attributes and martial arts maneuversAs for dormancy for Ned, that sounds good
>>29411434>for Ami, weren't we going to "fix" her forcefield so it wasnt automatic anymore?I was never really enthused about that. As for dormancy, couldn't we grab the running water skill instead? It makes us much harder to detect as a nova but lets us use our abilities.
>>29411464Isint that from Qui Meng (is that the name? i forgot) style? it would be fine if you are willing to wait about six months to learn it.How do you want to upgrade clone? more maximum clones? Immolate is pretty much maxed out, IIRC. Would probably raise it more but it would be pretty expensiveAnyway, for the immediate future, do you want to meet with the PI team that was researching bomber lord, organize the band, see about new advertising and endorsement deals for our guys, putting python on a plane to tibet, or what?
>>29411561>Python needing a planeAnd yeah, more maximum clones. I'm not real interested in learning dormancy, because the person we'd want to hide our Novahood from the most is Bomber Lord, and dorming down near him means shutting off our mental defenses.Anyway, Lets meet with the PI's first.
>>29411369Not sure how... A combination of Absorb Energy and Manipulate Density mean we can get Brass up to Mega Strength 10. Where do we go, in terms of damage, from there?Did we ever figure out how to stop him from being so vulnerable to Quantum Weapons?
>>29411625The best way to do that is not increasing mega strength but increasing his damage dice to take advantage of the automatic successes we already have. Ned's Synergy mega enhancement actually helps out with this a lot.
>>29411625>>29411670Well, we need to increase his damage pool. Some powers, like immolate, help a LOT on increasing damage pools. Weapons too, but I dont think it's in his character, unless we use quantum weapon to have him produce ultra classical wrestling gear like a "quantum chair"Now Im thinking in making a small chinese nova fighter with the power to manifest ropes, jackets, stairs, babies, and who does not want no trouble
>>29411729>>29411670Like that thing we gave Python that makes him do 1 point of Unsoakable damage per attack? That sort of thing?
>>29411786Nah, more powers like Impact, or Claws.>>29411729I could see a quantum chair going over well.
>>29411825Wouldn't a chair me too heel-like for Brass?I thought we refluffed Claws for Brass as having his arms glow or something. Also, why does captcha use so many long s's in them, fucking shit is annoying as fuck.
>>29411874Point. Brass beating down bomber lord with a folding chair would be funny though.
>>29411874I think we did.Maybe they should be Brass Knuckles?
>>29411786that doesnt increase his damage pool, tho, it just turns 1 of his dice into unsoakable damage, but doesnt gives him "more" diceStill 1 point of unsoakable damage per attack is a lot when he pours out like 14 attacks per round or so>>29411825uhmm... claws could work if we fluff them right, but I have no ideas atm for itSo anyway, I guess we are discussing ooc stuff for the rest of today? let me see...I feel everyone agrees Python needs to go to tibet and get started on Qi Weng? or we could invite the Sifu to the states>>29411874>I thought we refluffed Claws for Brass as having his arms glow or something.Oh that sounds good. For some reason it makes me think of the "Don't lose your way" theme from Kill La KillYeah, I really like that ideaAnything else for them, training-wise? I really wish one of us was good/fast at drawing because a few frames of each training would be epic. I can see Python as a longly figure dressed in a gym suit, climbing up tibet standing straight, not giving any fucks about the snowstorm blowing on his face, on literal sneakers, climbing up to a half buried (in snow) temple, and checking a note from his pocket with the adress, then knocking on the door.Python: "So, is this the right place?"Liz: -looks at him- "Please come in"Aura's training seems like it would be funny, for some reason.
>>29411998Actually it would be funnier if he got the wrong super secret temple at first, goes down and back up a different mountain and then finds the right place
I dunno, for Quantum weapon, why don't we just make his strikes unleash concussive blasts when he hits people or something, and have a loud *THUMP* or *BAM* every time his fists make contact. Kinda like mini explosion punches or something.Weapons don't really seem to gel well with the whole 'down to earth face' persona he's got going.
>>29412100Oh yeah, I also figured it'd fit good, thematically with his shockwave/earthquake power.
>>29412068The mega social book has another super secret temple in the mountains, though its more of a city. Amusingly enough, it also reduces taint.
>>29412100>>29412122That seems fine to meSo 1 Get quantum weapon and/or claws for Brass2 Send Python to tibet3 Get Aura to... martial arts/basic attributes (mega str, mega dex?)4 Ami goes to quantum labs to work on her powers5 So does Okaba6 Eldric has a lot of improvement roomFor the band, will we let leaders come out naturally or assign jobs to everyone?
>>29412178Let leader come out naturally. Also, if you want to do the wrong hidden temple you could have Python show up at the Kostelov Academy by accident. Their crystal idol is kinda silly and surprisingly effective.
>>29412274I think Im going to read into that. Page?Anyway, continue or stop here for the week? where I live, its the middle of summer and I feel like melting.
>>29412406Page 18. Takes half the time and a third of the XP cost to purge a point of permanent taint.
>>29412178For Paladin? Shit I dunno, short of making him shoot mini tornadoes at people or improving his physical skills I got nuthin'.I dunno, maybe shoot some eagle shaped wind blasts that cut people? But I think that might be too brutal for his character.
>>29412499Combat-wise, I think air is a very underrated element, the problem is that many of the more powerful abilities don't really lend themselves to arena fighting. Using air to keep your opponent off the mat for more than two rounds? Probably seen as incredibly cheap.Flying? time limit/enclosed space, Cutting gales? Lethal damage in non-lethal sport. Suffocating people by creating a vacumn, or shoving too much air down their pipes? Too brutal and not visually impressive.Honestly, I feel like the other traditional elements are better combat-wise, although it does make for some pretty impressive stuff. The problem is that wind has *plenty* of ways to wind, but being an invisible and intangible element, it's probably the least entertaining visually.
>>29412499>mini tornadoesmade me think of Storm on that one good X-Men beat 'em up>>29412481Well, honestly I think something based on martial arts just fits better with Python. Also, we built the appearance of the Sifu for like a year+, and now going to another place in a totally random manner feels weakAnyway, I think that's it for what the fighters will be doing this 1-2 months. Aura is going to be really really busy if we want her to be in the band and still train. So, with that out, want to continue? meet with the private investigators, or do something else?>>29412584>not visually impressive.Which is why he adds a visual effect with red/blue/white smoke and an american flag theme everywhere.
>>29412622I was mostly making a joke about how some random crystal statue is so much better than the martial arts thing. Also, its guarded by a nova monkey, how weird is that? And yeah, lets meet the PI's
>>29412664What if you did the martial arts thing while sitting next to the monkey statue?
>>29412664Four floors bellow the meeting room, in the dining hall of the XWF, you are having a brunch meeting with Aleksander and BellaAleksander: "..so, my idea was that miss Tsun can do lines every few seconds, as it seems her ability is reliant on continuous singing, so spacing her out would let us use her voice almost through a whole song."He is having a coffee and a box of donust as he talks with you. You can hear Euphry and Lyann shouting at eachother as they discuss about where they want to stand on stage.
>>29412740"Sound interesting."Uh, how are these the private investigators?
>>29412779im just setting up. You have some donuts with them, make some small chat, then get a phone call and excuse yourself and arrange the meeting with the PIs
>>29412779Aleksander: "Of course, sometimes we'll want her to-"Your phone rings, and you see it is from your PI's team safe line. Excusing yourself, you leave Aleks and Mako to have donuts as they talk about work.It is nice seeing Mako bloom, socially. From the ultra timid girl you knew, she has grown into a much more outgoing, kind girl who can still -sometimes- raise her voice when she wants to make a point, albeit she still gets trampled by most of her band mates. The call is just so you can call them back when you can.
>>29412877lets arrange the conference now.
Guys I need to go out SOON so im gonna go take a shower and all that, On monday we'll start at the meeting, I thinkI'll leave the thread open, as usual, and comment on anything before leaving and when I come back. Also, I think Ned is Mako's white knight. Rescued her from the slums in communist china to help the children everywhere, so if you haven't noticed, I think she may have a bit of a "first love" cutesy crush on him
>>29412960That's cute. Ned always struck me as taking his professional ethics very seriously. I can't really see him making the first move. He also has whatever his relationship with Mai is.
>>29412960I don't really mind either way, as long as it's executed well.
>>29413039Well, I think its cute, but yeah, I too get the feeling there's something already with Mai, or maybe is just because everything is there for "something" to be thereAnyway, see you guys in about 2-3 hours if you are still around
>>29413172Aura will probably notice the crush instantly and begin teasing her. As for Mai, how she reacts when she learns their is competition, if she is indeed interested in Ned, will be interesting. INB4 Teragen "no need to follow human mores" excuse.
>>29413350Ned would probably get slapped so hard that Divas Mal would rethink the whole Teragen philosophy.
>>29413350Mako, like Ami, has the 'adorable naïveté' thing going on. I don't think she actually has any real feelings for Ned. And even if she did, acting on anything would be deeply unprofessional.Mai is more of an equal, but it's just a bit of tension right now. We might want to go there, but we'd need to set out some relationship boundaries right off the bat; I think Mai is a strong enough personality to deal with that. Also: Why are we contracting PIs?
>>29413768Bomber Lord. And I kinda like Mako a bit more than Mai.
BackWell, Mako and Mai are innocent in different ways, or it would be better to say degrees? to begin with, Mako would be unable to use violence for any reason. This doesn't means Ami is a bad person, of course. same way a martial artist isint a bad person for practicing his/her sport of choice with people who are ALSO practicing their sport of choice.I was thinking it would be funnier to see how Okaba reacts to Stella and maybe Mako, since he has a lot in common with both of them on different directions, and has the whole white knight-type of personality.Would be funny/cute if Aura gets serious/jealous
>>29414451I kinda like the Mako crushing on Ned angle. It should be fun.
>>29413802Eh, personally I prefer Mai, but Mako is cute as hell.
>>29415483>>29414630Also, consider that anything Ned tries to do with Mako becomes a Chinese Diplomatic Issue. Combine /pol/-tier racism with an enthusiasm for extrajudicial murder, and you have a disaster waiting to happen.NB: If Ned ever goes back to China, we leave strict instructions with Ritsu that if we go more than 36 hours without contact, she should send EVERYBODY to come save us.
>>29416901I think you're now just making stuff up.
