You are Aaki, fire-carrier for wandering tribe. Aaki's job is very important, if there no fire, tribe will die.Tribe has leather and wood to make shelters in the night and supplies from last hunt. Aaki has a pouch with plants in that keep fire alive.>An ice age has hit>You've been reduced to a nomadic tribe, about 50 members.>You have food, portable shelter and a selection of tools available.>You are pretty much surrounded by snow, but your group is travelling south, where lots of other tribes are apparently going.>What is your first action?
>>29000038Look at state of fire. If fire weak, make ember strong!
>>29000072Aaki opens pouch on hip and looks in.Sees ball of plants and green stuff, Aaki opens up and checks that ember is still alive. Little black fire still smoking and bits of red dance on it.Fire is still alive. Aaki do good job.
>>29000083Fire is good. Keep traveling.
>>29000083Who is leader? Report to leader, fire good.
>>29000096>>29000098Tribe keep walking across snow. Fur on feet keep them warm and make walking on ice easier.Aaki go up to tribe leader, Mawg. Mawg is oldest in tribe but is very strong, Aaki tell Mawg fire still OK."Good, Aaki good fire-carrier" Mawg say to Aaki, his voice very crumbly.Aaki feel pleased and continue walk with tribe. Tribe man point and shout, him point at mountain peak in distance. Tribe see small light near peak.
>>29000118Where is the sun? If not about to set keep walking. Dont climb the mountain, no time to loose and it'll be even colder up there.
>>29000134>Sun disappearing behind mountainAaki shout to tribe. "No mountain, tribe must stay south. Otherwise tribe die!"Mawg nods his head and agrees with Aaki. Tribe man quickly put his arm down and tribe continue to head south.Sun now peeking over horizon. Tribe set up camp for the night. Men and women sometimes share tent, tribe leader has big tent and more important people stay in there. Aaki in big tent with leader, leaders woman, and few other tribes people.
>>29000165Time to deploy fire; We have firewood, right?
>>29000192>That you do.Aaki ask other tribe member for wood and sets up small fire in middle of tent. Hole at top lets smoke out, but keeps heat in. Very useful.Soon Aaki have good fire crackling away, tribe leader and other members gather around, warming their hands.Aaki look around, see Mawg and Mawg's woman. Aaki also see Krak and Kruk, them brothers and best warriors of tribe, Mamot, tribe biggest member, him carry lots of wood and things. There also Loka, tribe healer and few other women around.>Go to sleep?>Talk to tribe?>Other?
>>29000210>Talk to tribe?Ask when they think we reach warm land.
>>29000228"When tribe reach warm land?" Aaki ask group.Group mutter between themselves. "Tribe have been travelling for many month" Mawg say in his crumbly voice. "Tribe will get there some time.""What if there no warm land?" Mamot say, his voice very slow and deep."Then tribe will live in cold." Mawg say back, he stares at Mamot."There still animal around" Krak say."We can kill and tribe will live" Kruk say.
>>29000267We lived these months and we will keep on living for sure. Lets go to sleep. Gotta move at first light.
>>29000274Tribe talk for little bit before sleep. Talk about many things, Krak and Kruk argue over who is best hunter. Mamot grunt occasionally and continue to carve statue of bone.Tribe eventually go to sleep, Aaki is awoken by sun coming through top of tent. Aaki go over to fire and keeps embers in fire pouch for safe keeping.Aaki walk over furs and hide on floor and slowly wake tribe up. Soon tribe is all packed up and heading off on walk.Tribe walk for few hours when Krak suddently see big footprint in snow. "Big woolly was here. Heading in same direction we are" he says to Kruk.Kruk agree. "Wind going other way, big woolly not smell us. We keep walking and kill big woolly."
>>29000313Everybody stopped talking like good ol' Og? Sad, it had a certain charm to it.Well let's go do what he says anyway. If we can actually take it with our small group it should provide us with some food and more fur and tusks.
>>29000313where did we first steal fire from?
>>29000345>As you can see, the language is changing as we advance through the ages.>>29000313Tribe keep walking when Kruk suddenly hit ground belly first."Shh" He say to rest of tribe, and point to big woolly in distance. Tribe quickly lay on ground so big woolly don't see them.Krak and Kruk take spear thrower and spears out, and slowly stand up. Krak judge distance while Kruk gets spear ready.>1d100 for their success.>Changing things round a bit, I'm only taking the first roll.>40+ will land a few hits.
>>29000345Og am not sad, Og know price of progress. That said, looking forward when we reach the different eras. GM did say he'll explore other scenarios later, such as Three Kingdoms China etcetera.
>>29000373Well, I didn't read the part about the first roll like a retard but I don't believe it would have changed a lot.
>>29000370>>29000373>Dose 5'sKruk heft spear thrower and launch spear toward big woolly. Wind picks up and turns spear back toward Kruk. Kruk quickly duck and spear embed in ground. Krak tries to stop laughter in case he scare aware big woolly, but Krak cannot help himself."AHAHAH, Kruk am terrible hunter!" Krak bellow across snow. Big woolly hear and quickly run away into distance, Krak not stop laughing.Mamot run up and hits Krak over head. "Stupid Krak, am scary big woolly away!"Mawg walks past Mamot, Krak and Kruk without a word. Rest of tribe follow.
>>29000402>Small timeskipTribe walk for many months over snow and ice, past mountains, valleys and cliffs.Krak and Kruk prove they good hunters when they take down two big woollies in a competition. Tribe have much food and Mamot carry most of it. Mamot told off when he eat some of it.Mawg look up at edge of world and see small dots. Mawg eyes very good though his is old man. Mawg make big smile and pick up pace.Aaki wonder what Mawg so happy about, and look into distance. Aaki see black dots too and hurry behind Mawg.Black dots move quicker and quicker and get bigger and bigger. Soon black dots standing in front of Aaki and Mawg, black dots are other tribe!>What do?

We have more hunters, so we have more meat." Aaki tell Mawg.Mawg listens and coughs slightly before making gestures to the other tribe leader.Mawg points to our tribe and holds up his right hand, he points to other tribe and hold up left hand. Mawg then put hands together and link fingers. Mawg wants tribes to join.>1d100 for success.>+1 bonus from cheevo.>30+ will do it, seems to be a good option for both of the tribes.
Rolled 71>>29000556>>29000565aww come on
>>29000565>Mawg's hand actions has unintentionally insulted the other tribe leader.Dark skin tribe leader sees Mawg hand movements and his eyes grow angry. Mawg not see this and continue to point at tribes. Dark tribe leader howl with rage and grab spear from one of his warriors.Mamot quickly step in front of Mawg, Krak and Kruk grab spears and stand either side of Mamot. >>29000639>>29000641>>29000644>Achievement Unlocked!>I'm A Survivor. The sun is just above edge of world, dark skin warriors are dead. Krak and Kruk breath heavily, steam coming off their bodies.Aaki quickly check fire pouch, see black coal still smoking. Thank fire spirits, fire still there.Mamot lies dead on ground, same as Mawg. Aaki still quite young, but is next oldest in tribe, which mean Aaki now leader of tribe.Dark skin women and children still scared in group, not know what do now that leader is dead.Aaki walk over to dark skin tribe, pat Krak and Kruk on back when walk past. >>29000700nah, they know that without a strong leader and with low numbers they are bound to die, alsowe got faier
Aaki explain to tribe through hand-words that Mawg not mean to insult leader. Mawg just want to make big tribe.Rest of dark skin tribe come round and know Aaki tell truth and just want peace. Dark skin and light skin tribe slowly walk towards each other and try to talk. They look at each others cloths and pretty things, most like what they see.Aaki talk to Krak and Kruk, "Mawg and Mamot need big fire to send spirits to sky." Both nod at same time and talk to tribe to get wood.>TimeskipAaki stand in front of pile of wood with Mawg and Mamot on, Aaki say a few words before looking in pouch and getting ember out. Aaki kneel down and place ember at edge of wood. Soon whole wood pile is on fire and Mawg and Mamot's spirits travel with smoke up into the sky.Rest of tribe have set up tents short distance away. Aaki, Kruk and Krak travel back, after Aaki gets small ember back.
>>29000748>You now have a tribe, mixed with dark skin and light skin members, with around 120 people.>There's enough tents to hold them all and enough food to last a few weeks.>What's your next action, oh leader?
>>29000793exchange hunting knowledge, combine it and decide then, where to go, and what to hunt
>>29000793No warm land south, no warm land north? Try to find a place with water and wood and game. Where we can at least settle for a while after months of walk.
>>29000793We hunt. Pick new fire-man for new big tribe. Think of how to make meetings like that better. Maybe putting up food-meat to show we want no trabbu?
>>29000793combine knowledgemake camp where firewood is plenty so fire will live.fire is importantalso forest make shelter easier
>>29000806>>29000814>>29000820>>29000842Most of tribe is staying together as man and woman in small tents. Both tribes have put big tents together to make huge tent for important people.Aaki, Krak and Kruk step in and see dark and light skin members sitting around big fire, eating berries and drinking.Aaki look around fire, Krak and Kruk sit down. Aaki see Loka, with few other dark skins around her, seeing her healing plants and berries. Loka stand up and say "Aaki, dark tribe know much about healing. They have very good plants." Aaki sit down by fire and gather everyone around.>You are going to tell the big wigs your plans. What exactly do you plan on doing?
>>29000869>Keep exchanging knowledge>Try to find a place with water and wood and game. Where we can at least settle for a while after months of walk.
>>29000869Plan is to find a place with a big water source to support tribe and animals around, so we can hunt.
>>29000895Aaki stand up and talks to group around fire."Tribe not live if we not know what other is saying. All hunt and gather groups must be half dark and half light. We will learn each other words that way.""No warm land south, no warm land north either. All land cold with ice and snow. Tribe must find place with wood and food and make new safe place and live through cold."Aaki point to dark skin member. "Aaki saw this man carry fire for his tribe. Now man carry fire for all of tribe." Aaki take fire pouch and give to dark man. Dark man understand what need to be done and puts pouch over shoulder."Tribe travel in morning and find big splash. Tribe need to find forest next to big splash. Lots of wood, lots of food and lots of water mean tribe will leave through big cold.">Anything else you want to add?
>>29001002Sounds like a good plan. Settle and interact and survive.
>>29001002Og would be proud of plan.
>>29001043>TimeskipMany months pass, the tribe continues their journeys through the land of ice. The mixture of tribes into various hunting and gathering groups has worked incredibly well, everyone now pretty much understand everyone else, with children picking it up very quickly. The tribe finds a small forest, with a river running right through it, and that river joining the sea a short distance away (roughly 2 days travel).Trees are chopped down, animals are hunted and the tribe soon flourishes within this small area. There are large deers and small pockets of various woolly animals still kicking around, and plenty of herbs, berries and plants to eat as well.Aaki proves to be a pretty good leader, keeping tensions low and everything fair between the two tribes. Krak and Kruk have improved their skills and are by far the best hunters in the tribe.>Now you have a proper settlement going on.>What is your next choice?
>>29001089Domestication? sheep/goatsWhy hunt when you can heard flocks.
>>29001089Do like our ancestor Og, tame wooly beasts. make them useful other than meat
>>29001121Yes. Get woolly beasts' little ones.
>>29001089organize tribe structure. Elders teach and look after children, make some people specialize in a trade, conpartmenalize so some create weapons some cloth some hunt some gathers some heal. allowing the structures for techincal advancenes to develop. fuck im tired and have done way to many organizational analysis lately
>>29001114>>29001121>>29001140>Bit early for full on domestication.>I think we'll have a little change of quest style here, Civ style.Aaki want food to stay in one place, he know there plenty of deer in forest. Aaki might be able to make deer stay in same place in forest as well.Aaki tell women and men to feed deer grass whenever they see deer. This way deer know human not keep hurting them and will stay near humans. Tribe not have to go far to hunt either.>1d100 for success.>80+ barely domesticates (in the loosest term of the word) the animals.>+1 bonus from Riders On The Horn

>>29001175The tribe fails to lure any deer near them. Animals are too easily scared. While tribe out hunting, they found pack of wolves. Wolves try to attack tribe, but men quickly kill wolves and bring them back to tribe for skin and meat.Wolves have number of wolf-babies with them. Men can't bring themselves to kill babies so will have to feed them instead.Few months pass, baby wolves have grown up into small wolves and are very friendly to rest of tribe. Small wolves very good at hunting too!>A little bonus for you guys.>We'll have dogs instead.>Achievement Unlocked!>Man's Best Friend.

>>29001229Take one wolf for Aaki.
>>29001244>>29001266>>29001273>>29001288>Sorry for the delay, was eating.Aaki think wolves better then people at hunting. Aaki tell Krak and Kruk to take one wolf each and try to get them to listen to humans and show them how to hunt.Every small group in family have wolf now, children think they very fluffy and lovely. Men think they're very useful for hunting.Aaki appoint tribe member, Plok, as Wolfmaster. Him in charge of feeding and looking after wolves that don't have other members to look after them.>Roll 1d100 for wolfiness of tribe.
>>29001450>A few years pass. The wolves integrate themselves into the tribe very fairly well. Plok thrives as Wolfmaster and breeds a vast number of them, some as pets for various families around the tribe, and others as vicious guard gods.He gifts Aaki two wolves, Stone and Rock, both as grey as boulders. The wolves hunt exceptionally well, and work even better when paired with the intelligence of the humans in the tribe. The tribe lives in the forest with little difficulty, their leather tents now upgraded to basic wooden huts held together with rope.
>>29001511While we have stability, it is time build our future.Have each of our most talented men take an apprecntice or two. Krak and Kruk, Plok, Loka. Maybe even one for us, depends on how future clan leaders are usually chosen.
>>29001511We have ropes right? Make nets for fishing in the river.
>>29001571Aaki tells best members of tribe to get someone who they can pass their skills on. Tribe needs more skilled people in order to live.Plok selects a young boy who always spends time with the wolves.Loka teaches 3 young girls all she knows about medicine and the various plants around the tribe.Krak and Kruk both select their sons, their rivalry won't stop with them.>Right, sorry to call this session to an end, but I have to go out.>I'll archive this thread, update the achievement list and all that.>Next session will probably have to be next weekend or so, we will continue with Aaki.>I'll stay on for a little bit to answer any questions.
>>29001633any specific things you want us to ponder over while waiting for the next thread? ie anything we can prepare so we can maximize awesomeness
>>29001808Well, do you want to continue with this tribe-civ mode, or do you want to switch back to 1st person?
http://pastebin.com/qPNNfqkKUpdated Achievement List so I don't forget next thread.
>>29001828We can go on with tribe civ for a while. Maybe turn this into a little city and play civ style for the next thread. Then Aaki's grandson or great-great-grandson if you want to skip more goes on an adventure and we turn to first person adventure.
>>29001871We've got a fair while to go even before we get out of the Stone Age.I think Aaki's sessions will still be civ style, we'll probably have another Paleolithic based session with his grandson, and then move on a few thousands years down the line again.Thread is archived! Get voting!
Rolled 19>>29000038Shit i hope i didn't miss the thread, i thought you were doing this at 2:00 server time.
>>29002034Sorry dude, looks like you did.I don't think I've got the time to do another quest tomorow, and I won't next weekend thinking about it. I might try one Boxing day, but we'll see how it goes. I'll definitely let the QTG know.
>>29002067Its all good, i'm assuming that the thread will be around 8:00 next weekend?>>29001969I'm good with it being Civ-style and first person.(Like we have meetings done in civ-style and then go do everything else in first person.)
>>29002263Well 1-2pm GMT, whatever that is in your timezone.Anyway I'm off for now, thanks for participating!
