My people, to me! It is now the sacred--wait no it isn't. That'll come later. The saga of Fimbulvetr clan came to an abrupt pause in our last session as we crashed headlong against the image limit. It's a sign of just how epic tribe formation is, and our Avaltvar (Norse: "Always spring") is a six-clan tribe. When we left off, former clan chief Baranthos was about to depart to the Stinking Forest, a Northern region explored by one of our tribal allies, added to our map as a benefit of enlisting the Tree Brothers/Ancient Text clan to our tribe.
Noble Baranthos prepares to depart to the Stinking Forest. Who but the gods knows what he might find?
I forgot to bring this up after the last session, but once you form a tribe a new button is added to the Diplomacy screen. Pressing the "Tribe" button brings up a screeb showing the tribe's mood and age and current king. If you provided the king, you also have a choice of how you settle matters brought before the tribe offscreen. Some of the bigger cases are events in their own right.
The ugliest man in the clan wants a wife. Seeing as he actually hasn't done anything to deserve going without, he's come to the clan ring to ask for help in finding one. How do we go about this?My only regret is that marrying him to Rana isn't an option.
>>28658687Seek bride with added gift. Guy's a train wreck.
I'm going to go with Elusu's instincts and send Rangor to the Mule Deers.
How many gifts do we offer?
>>28658800What can we spare? What's the going rate to wed a dumpster fire? 25, 50 cows?
>>28658905Between 7 and 14 is more than generous.
Success! Marriages please the clan, so this should help the farmers satisfaction levels some.
>>28658925Call it 12 & send him on his way
It's now Storm 2. We didn't pick an action for it last thread, now we have to decide how to spend the last month of the year. We could trade, explore, sacrifice, perform diplomacy or feast. For exploration, give me a direction or suggest a destination.
>>28658999We never trade enough, imho. Let's trade with someone.
>>28658999just wanted you to know i'm lurking this
For some reason that I can't fathom, our best friends are now the Mule Deers instead of the Gorinds. We'll hit the Deers up for trade from now on.
>>28658947>implying carls will ever stop bitching
The Jenestni raided us. Joke's on them though, I increased patrols while waiting for an action. And we have a Heroic Combat chief-king. This should be interesting. How are we dealing with the Jenestni?
>>28659240Kill as many as possible."If the population disarms, good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves."
We rush in to start killing, and Harvar outpaces the rest, then ducks back for a breather. How does he finish the fight? He's got Excellent Leadership, Heroic Combat.
>>28659291This. Kill 'em all.
Quick heads up, I'm being called away. Won't be more than an hour. My apologies, I was told this wouldn't happen until tomorrow.
>>28659322Lead 'em on my wayward son.
>>28659337Stupid woman, having the baby early. Tell her to squeeze that thing out quickly & get back here
>>28658549On an unrelated note, a better-sounding translation for Avaltvar might be "Everspring" but that's just me...
>Shouldn't take more than an hour>DoesI really shouldn't be surprised now. This new project means that tomorrow's thread will start even later.Anyway, went with fighting because Harvar is a hero of war. In retrospect, leading would have been safer, but he survived.>>28659596I'll use that from now on.
Even with Elusu's Heroic Leadership and Combat we took losses. It's because the level titles aren't reflective of statistical value but bounds, so Baranthos still has a higher stat than Elusu.Failing the event contributed as well.
We've finally reached the place where we should have been at the end of the last thread.>>28661012I should add: Choosing to "Kill as many as possible" lowers the odds of success and increases the likelihood of casualties on your side. Choosing to drive enemies off is much safer, and if your bonuses are high enough you can slaughter most invaders anyway
Clan magic and omens for the year. This is a nice one, means that we'll have a larger pool of nobles to put on the ring in about 20 years. At which point the game will be about ready to end if all goes well, so we'll see how useful it is.Go ahead and give me two action for Sea season.
>>28661141Put a point into children
We've properly found the Stinking Forest. This place is hilariously lethal, and home to all sorts of hostile entities who will gladly kill our explorers for the meat off their bones. Or because they're elves.>>28661178A fine idea. I did so.
Issaries Tongue is one of several treasures that benefits the clan if a member of that god's faith serves on the clan ring. Sadly, we have no Issarian at all. I bought it anyway to keep it out of the treasure rotation. Is this going to go through this time?
>>28661362There it goes.Special event: Tarsh wants to hire our people as mercenaries. Orstalor has a bit of wisdom, however empty, to share. What do we tell Illator?
>>28661403hmmmmsend a quarterbetter to lose a fourth than two thirds if they lose
>>28661403Send 1/4 of our thanes, we have plenty to spare.
Most of the ring agrees with your choice.Seeing as our war-leader is also our chief, king and best magician I said "No" to this prompt automatically.
Einarth Milk-Eyes returns a second prophecy of glory. Rejoice, we're officially in the long game exclusive content. How do we react to Einarth? This also will reset our heroquest count, and I'm pretty sure that we're going to see the other tribes form up.
>>28661554Give him a gift,Hes been a pretty cool dude for helping us outThis is IC
>>28661554Give him gifts. He usually says something along the lines of our generosity proving we are the clan in the vision, so that probably means giving gifts helps, or he's just saying that in the hopes of getting more next time.
>>28661554Also poor Orstalor
>>28661554Don't bother with gifts, that's a general reputation booster and we've maxed reputation. I'd go with feasting or asking for more details.
Five food for a feast? If it didn't take an action we'd do that every year.>>28661635No spoilers.
>>28661737The Jenestri problem is growing. We need to drive them off.
Finally it's Sea season. Give me two actions. We might want to trade more, or explore.Note that we're down several weaponthanes.
>>28661792Hire more weaponthanesExplore the biggest blob of unexplored land
>>28661792Trade is good. But I think exploration is best. Especially in our own tula.Explore once in our own tula.Explore once to the north east. Or perhaps to the dwarven area.
>>28661839this.But we really should explore our own tula to prevent bad shit from happening.
Since we can only hire two more weaponthanes I went with the exploration. My plan is to create an artificial thane shortage through long-distance exploration, then hire more thanes at once.
I'm not sure whether there are any tula events left. I'll check later.
Thank Urox we have Smite Chaos. That's all I'm going to say about this exploration trip.We going Northwest or Northeast for the next exploration?
>>28661915How does that work?>>28661945Also that doesn't matter. It cuts down on things like those damn armored rats.
Oh finally, DRAGON TIME.
Our old friends the ice demons have come back. How do we send them off?>>28662020Your ability to hire more thanes is derived in part from how many you already have. Thanes out exploring are not counted, so you cn send off most of your thanes and recruit more in their absence.
>>28662100fuck them up
>>28662100WAR PARTY! LET US DROWN THEM IN THEIR ICY BLOOD
>>28662002Northeast looks like it could use some love.
How many people do we send to fight the demons?
>>28662174All of them. No quarter given, no mercy to demons.
Nineteen thanes ride out. Seventeen return.
>>28662242A necessary loss. More might have died if we hadn't sent everyone we could.Time to recruit more thanes.
And then one dies of natural causes. Regardless, we're now back up to twenty thanes.
The other tribes have formed up. We'll take a look at the new map screen after your decision here.
>>28662286Let's go pee in the Jenestni's cereal.
>>28662407Sic the ducks at 'em. They'll doom them all.
>>28662407Time for corkscrew penis helpers
>>28662407We won't be able to rule over all of Dragon Pass without at least some of them already liking us. Forge an alliance. Also, we need two allied tribes for one of the Kingdom making events.
Who are we warning them against?>>28662468Actually, we need two tribes about to go to war.
>>28662407DAMN ITWe should have driven the Jenestri out sooner. We need to do that NOW when their relationship with our bros the Fire Quartz is still in it's infancy.
>>28662530Which of those groups should we warn the marsh ducks against? I don't know. Also, show us a map when this is done.
We need some duck action. Also, looks like the Jenesti tribe is going to get SHAT on.
Selecting the clans on display shows you their composition and king. Look what clan is leading the Malani?I'm ending the vote, we all know who deserves to get ducked.
>>28662530Malani, fuck those guys.
Of course this option fails most of the time, I forgot about that.
>>28662673Pity our old buddies the Fire Quartz had to choose to side with the Jenestri.
>>28662697Ah well. Let's get rid of the Jenestri now. And show us the map.
I have no idea what the Malani tribe were doing confederating as they did. We're going to save our raiding for Dark season, and we're only raiding once. The farmers are Resolved (neutral) and we want their morale higher than that. Shall we treasure trade?
>>28662778>grey dog is still singleahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
>>28662778>We're going to save our raiding for Dark season, and we're only raiding once. The farmers are Resolved (neutral) and we want their morale higher than that. Shall we treasure trade?Okay, fine. But we drive them out this year. Also, the Malani seems to be made up of everyone who isn't in the other tribes... and for some reason the two clans we drove out of the north haven't formed their own tribes. How peculiar
>>28662840Same for the Stag Hearths. I wonder if clans that are removed from the lands they claimed can't form tribes?
Made an even better map. You'll note that the Stag Hearths are also not in a tribe. Since no one's suggested an action we're going treasure trading.>>28662865Next year. Raid once, burn steads, next year raid twice seize land seize land.>>28662890Looks like they were supposed to join the Malani. Once they got booted I think the game lost track of them.
>>28662921>Looks like they were supposed to join the Malani. Once they got booted I think the game lost track of them.Strange. They've made attacks on us before though, so I don't think so.
Going to the Mule Deers again. >>28662941For tribe building purposes I mean. There are many systems at work in KoDP, and not all of them work together.
Odd, I thought we'd get a discovery event. Might have been off by a few inches...
The Gorinds sent the hot ones to convince us to conduct an Odayla ritual. What do we tell her/them?
>>286630811 or 5.>>28663046Send another one in sea season?
>>28663081#1.Extra magic is extra luck in stuff, and goods/cows can always be recouped.
14 goods gets us a promise of improved hunting. Personally I'm hoping this cuts down on the disease rates too.
Earth season. Orstalor is indicating that Einarth's visit has reset the heroquest counter. To win the game, we need to first perform all seven heroquests. We could do Humakt, start picking up his treasures.
>>28663197I think there are nine heroquests in total, but you only have to do seven. Did we prepare for quests in sacred time?
Humakt's Sword or Shield are great treasures. I'll either grab the sword or ask for Humakt's raiding blessing.>>28663265Whoops, you're right. Seven heroquests of nine. We put two points in quests.
>>28663394go for the sword and sheild
>>28663394I don't remember which treasure does what, but I remember Humakts treasures being the best. Get whichever is better of the sword or the shield.
The sword makes the "Kill as many as you can" battle option more effective, the shield strengthens the effects of our fortifications, preventing loss of goods or land. We'll be getting both of these eventually, and the other two later, but which do we want first?
>>28663575Sword for the moment, then the shield next year.
The sword is my preference as well.
The Greysage Mask empowers followers of Lhankor Mhy. Given that we have a Mhyran on our ring, we want this. Unfortunately, the purchase failed.
>>28663652And the entire Malani tribe trembled with fear.
This event again? Keep in mind that we're religiously opposed to the taking of thralls. We do have a Heroic Leader, too.
>>28663770Question? If we buy them can we free them? or do we have to keep them as thralls? But convincing sounds good. That or we lead a warparty against their thanes.
>>28663770Buy the the thralls then set them free.
>>28663770Kick. Their. Ass. Our thanes are bettere than their thanes.
>>28663770Drive enemies before you, hear lamentations of women, etc.
Unfortunately it is Earth season meaning fighting will harm the harvest. We're sending Elusu to get the Elkenval to back off.>>28663815I'd prefer buying them (or attacking in Fire season), but we don't have anyone with more than a decent Bargaining skill.
With 15 of our thanes and 15 of our footmen (as if they matter) Elusu meets with the Elkenvali pursuers. What does he tell them?
>>28663942>Bargaining Renowned>Custom Heroic>Leadership HeroicI bet he could convince the Elkenval to become thralls.>>28663977Number 1, there probably isn't an actual law against mistreating thralls.
>>28663977Number 2 I think... ask the clan circle though.
Elusu convinces the Elkenvali to let these guys go, treat their remaining thralls better, and we get three points of clan magic.Amusingly, the escaped thralls wind up being thralls elsewhere.
Jenestni raiding season. My only regret is that we can't call on the Fire Quartz to help invade the Jenestni.
It's dark season, but we'll warm ourselves up by burning Jenestni steads.
Baranthos event, Heroic Combat Excellent Leadership. Some of these events are basically random, so be careful.
>>28664239Fight bravely. I think insane risks are only for when you're trying to get the guy killed.
Nice outcome for Baranthos.
Only three steads? I'm disappointed. At least we hurt or killed every one of their combatants with no losses.
Hell with it, we're taking their land.
Wow, did they mortgage out their tula to become kings of their tribe? They've got nothing.Well, they won't have anything after we've stolen their land.
Jarstakos gets an event. Very Good Combat, Excellent Magic.I don't actually care much if he dies, we're going to start recycling nobles in a bit anyway.
>>28664496All the same, rejoin. No reason to waste lives.
Jarstakos lives to fight another day. Have to say, his new portrait isn't bad.
No deaths or injuries, but also no land.
Karendra is one of our Odaylans, she would know what she's talking about.
>>28664590We do this again and again until we take their tula. This ends now.
Note that Harvar, our Barntarian, says we can take the Tedanlings if we fight.
>>28664590We're massacring them! The land will eventually yield
>>286646482.Girl is royalty, under a chief. But we can't possibly allow her to marry someone who has dishonored her. Such would be shameful to Orlanth.
>>28664648This event gets really interesting if you intentionally pick bad options. But marry her to one of our guys, a noble. It's the right thing to do.
There's no way this will end poorly.Quick break here, back in maybe an hour.
>>28664718See you in two hours then HeortsonAlso who cares? We can take them.
>>28664648>>28664718In the Tedanlings eyes, we basically kidnapped and married the chiefs daughter, good luck in the coming feud.
>>28664832We got the biggest Tribe. And if they want to try this, we'll obliterate them.
>>28664869Also. They're those colymar fucks. We owe them nothing, and they extorted us for a few years in a row.Fuck them.
>>28664914>ColymarYou should have mentioned this sooner, we should be marrying all their chiefs' daughters.
>>28664750Just for that I'm back earlier than I said I would be.It's now Storm season. We will continue hitting the Jenestni until we've stolen all of their land. Also because we've hurt them badly enough that if we don't they're going to offer peace, then receive instant AI reinforcements when we tell them to get bent.
Just a heads up, I only have enough time to finish up Storm season, we'll be doing our second year tomorrow. Have to start later than I'd like due to reasons, but we'll catch up to where we should be.
Nice tula you have here. Be a shame if anything happened to it and you couldn't protect it with 51 spearmen.
And at the cost of one farmer, the North belongs to Avaltvar, and clan Fimbulvetr.
>>28665734>Just for that I'm back earlier than I said I would be.REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY WORKS
With absolutely beautiful timing, our mercenary thanes return with goods and stories about beating the shit out of godless Lunars. How do we welcome them?
>>28665885MAP!Let's see where the dogs ran off too. Just incase we gotta trounce them AGAIN.How are we doing for rep with the Farmers?if it's really low, then let's give them some.Otherwise, recruit more warriors.
doomeverytime i want to get some shit done i wander into this thread and distracts me forever Q__Q
Huh, I wonder if we're actually going to see fewer raids on us?
The Greydogs are about to default on their payments. We grab one of their guys and interrogate him. What do we do about the delinquent Greydogs?
>>286662373If they're being plagued by undead or trolls or elves or something, well, we can hardly fault them
>>28666237Let's find out what's up with them before we raid them again.
>>286662372, these pompous little shits need to be put in their place.>>28666374This man is a fool.
>>28666446Does Obama represent our thanes?
>>28666478Maybe they're the chubby white guy attempting to block the shit?
Twenty heavily armed Humakti showing up on their doorstep and asking whether they'd paid their taxes sees our funds deposited immediately.Moral of the story: Don't fuck with the IRS.>>28666446The fucking fuck, I don't even have any basket-Obama pictures on my computer.
>>28666513Hey, they paid. And who knows, maybe they're telling the truth.
The greasy little slimeballs. Joke's on them, we've got a tribe to warn us. Thanks Mule Deers! What do we do to the Greydogs?>>28666526Given this, I very much doubt it.
>>28666237"So what's dis, Graysies? You promise me cows, and I expect cows. So I wait for ya cows! And dey don't come.It is not a smart thing ya do, Graysies. I need dose cows. And I know you have dose cows. And now? Now, I have to GET those cows FROM you, instead of YOU getting dose cows to ME. That wastes my time, Graysies. And I don't like people who waste my time. Some boys are gonna come by your home sometime, Graysies. They're going to get some cows, and they're gonna leave a message. My advice? Don't fight 'em when the message comes. It'll just waste their time. And between you and me? They don't like having their time wasted, either."
>>28666550The Greydogs don't seem very bright.Kill as many as possible.
>>28666550Did... did they just break the pact without telling us?Aren't the gods going to come down on them hard for that?
>>28666596Use the sword, and pump in 5 magic.
Karendra has an event. She has Excellent Combat and Very Good Leadership.>>28666603Happens sometimes, but not others. In this case they're not being described as oathbreakers, so they might have bought off the gods.>>28666623Sword use is passive.
>>28666666Are we using magic then?
Karendra wrecks bloody vengeance on the Greydogs.>>28666683Actually no, but only because the points we put in War at the start of the year count as points invested in every battle. With all of our force multipliers, extra magic expenditure is basically unnecessary.
>>28666666Six sixes. It's gotta be a sign.
Selecting "Kill as many as you can" all but guarantees losses on your side and increases the chances of failure. We utterly wrecked them.
>>28666823Wow, so not only did we have 'remind' them of their tribute. They had the gall to try and backstab us?
>Jenestni moved to the South, next to Stag Hearths and AnmangarmIf only the Greydogs had been sent there too we might have really had a tribe of people feuding with us.>>28666818Hexes.>>28666865Yep.
>>28666778Thanks, Karendra, now we owe Humakt a sacrifice. Next time, leave the sacrifice offers to the ring!
Storm 2. One last action before we leave off for the day. Trade, explore, sacrifice?
>>28666944>600 childrenJesusExplore undiscovered blobs
>>28666944>our clan is half kids and babiesRight, we need to throw together a children's crusade or something.
Biggest unexplored blob is over here in Tarsh. Note the dot in the top left corner, that's our thanes not bothering to map out the area they explored going or coming.Baranthos, do what they didn't.
>>28666971500>>28666985only 5/12ths...>>28667021Sounds good, go for it.
>>28667036twas but a slip of the handbut still holy crap
>>28667067I'd assume that would be normal. We want them at about equal, otherwise in the future our numbers will drop.
>>28667021Odd, the same image went up twice. Here's the exploration vector.>>28667067Not unusual. You need about 30 children a year so that about 20 survive to adulthood to replace members who die of natural causes (dying in battle is natural causes, it's natural to die when your head is cut off). You want a bit more to cover years when you lose big battles.Having more children than farmers is problematic though.
>too many kids>want to explore.Right, I got this.
And here's the second part of the woman's dishonoring event from earlier. Choosing poorly can have hilariously awful consequences, most involving axes and goddesses of revenge.>>28667188I knew that was going to be what it was.
It goes without saying, but we are going to rain SHIT on the Greydogs next raiding season for this treachery.
>>286672102. Because why the fuck not, we're sporting.
>>28667210They can fuck right off. 1
>>286672101, we need some more feuds.
I was willing to give them a sporting chance, then I realized that they're part of the Colymar tribe. They can go to Orlanthi hell.
The Jenestni want to pay tribute again. 15 a year?
>>28667319dems are fightan words
>>28667350Yep, they'll probably pay for about two years, so 30 cows is the most I think we can expect from a clan that was just displaced.
>>28667350yea why not
They rejected our entirely reasonable offer. We'll have to burn some steads in two years time to get the message across. We still want to buff up the farmers spirits, so a one year raiding moratorium should do good.
>>28667350Sure.So we're going to be fighting the Coylmar this upcoming decade? Fantastic.
Now the Vostangi want to feed Maran Gor. Drive off or kill all?
>>28667454Show Humakt our gratitude and kill them all.
I think, in the future, we'll just drive them off. They won this battle, we got by on a technicality.
>19 weaponthanesThis is bad. Driving them off.
Onelisin event. She has Renowned Combat, Excellent Leadership, and Excellent Magic.
>>286676252 I think
Onelisin does good.
>>28667820Holy fucking shit
We send the Vostangi flying without much effort.
We've got prisoners. What should we do with them?
>>28667879Ransom.And we start putting out for weapon thanes.
55 goods is nothing to sneeze at.>>28667902>And we start putting out for weapon thanes.First thing tomorrow.
>>28667858>VostangiThis should be Anmangarmi.Stats for the year. All in all, not bad. If not for that battle with the Vostangi we'd have come out ahead on population too.Okay, that's it for now. See you all in 15 hours or so, I hope.
>>28668020>43 super babiesTubular
>>28668245Why in the hell are crotch-spawn a good thing? That's a lot of food going down the toilet.
>>28670266This year we got an omen that basically stated that any child born this year would have super friggin' high stats. Come 20 years, our inner circle is going to be filled with bad asses.
>>28670310Yep. It's the one time you actually DO want to put magic towards Children, so long as you have a good food stockpile to back it up.
>>28670310God I hope one of those fuckers is an Issarian or a Humakti.
I understand that this game fits into the Hero Quest campaign setting. Can anyone explain how? Is the game considered "canon" at all?
The appointed time passes... did the god-talkers misread their signs?I take this as an ill omen.
>>28677277nigga learn to count.
>>28677277Work project taking longer than expected. I *will* be done in 40 minutes, give or take. May or may not see similar overruns going forward, I'll know tomorrow.
>>28674198It is. It's why there's only ONE win condition to the game.marrying the queen of the horse spawn
Back, finally. Let's finish up the year.We have the treasure discovery omen again. A fine excuse to go exploring and trading.
We've formally explored Tarsh. I think there's just a handful of explorable areas left to uncover.
In addition to a successful exploration career, Baranthos moonlights as a circus performer. Not quite sure what the Veil does.
>>28679164Sounds like it kills feuds. But anyway, what do we have left to explore?
>>28679164Awesome, we already fulfilled the terms of Issaries' omen, assuming we don't lose any treasures.
Left to explore are Prax and up here. Which do we want to check out?Getting the Veil also means that we've accomplished Issaries' task for us with plenty of time to spare.Harran reached his third/final age portrait. Looks like Leif from Vinland Saga.>>28679191You're right. I think it means that diplomatic action with feuding partners has a fairer chance of success.
>>28679285Up there looks good.
>>28679285Snakepipe Hollow sounds like a euphemism for anal.
Skyfall Lake can be very useful in the PC version of King of Dragon Pass, but there are some preparations to make first.>>28679338It's also full to the brim with Chaos. Take that as you will.
>>28678390What happens if you manage to keep an unbroken line of tribal queen? game crashes?
>>28679446Still happens I think. Orlanthi give no fucks about that.
>>28679446You get to marry the horse spawn king instead. That's what happened here:http://lparchive.org/King-of-Dragon-Pass/
Knowing both of Maran Gor's blessings qualifies us for this event. Being on good terms with the Mother of Dinosaurs can be very useful later on.>>28679446You marry the Luminous Stallion King instead.
>>28679518When in doubt, give gifts.
We'll go a bit further on the sacrificing than usual.
The Sacred Clod is a terrific battle relic for large scale battles, but it has the downside of scaring our allies as well as enemies when we use it.Hanging on to it until the endgame makes a victory path event much easier,
>>28679687Another treasure: Issaries' boner for our clan grows stronger.
Skyfall Lake is the best way in the game to eliminate useless or redundant ring candidates. Particularly eco-conscious (meaning troll hating) clans can get extra clan magic for intentionally getting nobles killed, too.Why do this? Let's look at Enothea's stats. Her best stat is Renowned Combat. We have three Heroic Combatants. Enothea is also an Odaylan, who provide the ability to put one more magic into Hunting at Sacred Time. We have three of THEM.There's a hard cap of how many ring candidates you can have at a given time. Only when they die do new nobles step forward.Long story short: Out with the chaff, in with the people who might be useful. Bye Enothea! Say hi to Cragspider for us!Note that all this assumes reaching the lake in the first place. That's why Pathfinder went up.
No event, so straight to Fire season. We can perform a heroquest (specify which), trade, explore or sacrifice.
>>28679824Isn't this a bad idea if you do it too often, though?
>>28680030They never fixed the apocalypse bug in the PC version, so no. In the iOS version it's a great way to get a game over.
>>28679902Which heroquests do we have left to do?
>>28680139All of them except Humakt the Champion. In order:>Chalana Arroy Heals the Scars>Elmal Guards the Stead>Ernalda Feeds the Tribe>Issaries the Conciliator>Lhankor Mhy Finds the Truth>Orlanth and Aroka>Uralda's BlessingI'm not sure, but I don't think The Making of the Storm Tribe counts toward your target.
>>28680188Oh god we have to do BOTH the fucked-horrible heroquests?! This is gonna bite the big one.
>>28680246I plan on save scumming them both, they're terrible. In the interest of moving things along, I'm going to run Humakt again and claim the shield.
Money for nothing, treasure for free.
How sad.I hope we get those cows back.
Earth season. Give me an action, I'm going to cure our people's sickness for the first half.
>>28680416WE'VE HAD FEUDS FOR LESS
>>28680479Are we full on trade posts? If not send another. Anything more we can do with the Ducks? How about ending one of those feuds just so we can more precisely focus our wrath?
Thank you goddess.>>28680503Sounds good. Clans in a tribe can handle more trade routes than clans not in a tribe, so we've got some extra slots.
>>28680246>>28680188We only need to do a total of seven, and I think the storm tribe counts, so we can skip uralda's blessing and elmal guards the stead to avoid noble deaths.
Payments for our mercenary work have arrived. We can accept the goods or demand cows or magic; according to Elusu holding Illator hostage will get us in hot water with the kingdom of Tarsh.
>>28680480No we haven't?>>28680540Who else can we trade with then? Can we set up trade with the dwarves for example?>>286805965 I think. It's probably just a misunderstanding.
We said cows Illator, and cows we shall have.>>28680755Trade is only possible with Orlanthi clans. The ducks nearer us are a viable trading partner, but the Marsh Ducks are not. Other civs are definitely out.
Enothea is outnumbered. Unfortunately, you can't get nobles killed in these clashes, just the people accompanying them. Running is the only option for recycling to go through.
>>28680589We actually cannot skip Elmal Guards the Stead. The list of seven has to include our primary deity's quest. Unfortunately, we're Elmali.
The escape attempt failed and Enothea returned without meeting Cragspider. We'll try again soon.
Just noticed that Harran went bald. While darn trickster is the same while being... 57? Well, it's three years then, I guess.
We're not trading with the Lonisi. We will be soon though.>>28680869Orstalor is one year younger than Harran. Tricksters tend to live longer than others, to make up for their overall rarity.
>>28680845What's the advantage of taking Elmal as a primary deity? All I know is it gives our chief a bonus to combat instead of leadership.
Tusk Raiders attack. We'll drive them off.>>28680943You start the game with a shrine to Elmal and knowing the details of Elmal Guards the Stead. I think you also have more starting horses, and a better male/female dynamic.
>hit them while they're sacrificing>hit them while they're trying to adjust battle lines>our magic > their magic>no casualtiesWe're back in business.
We had a good harvest. Wish I'd seen that omen, I would have increased our wheat production to make some cash.
Now that's saying something, we have a lot of horses.
231 to be exact. It's now Dark season. We could go raiding or sacrifice. Unfortunately, we can only hire 1 (!) additional thane. Anyone know why recruitment fluctuates the way it seems to?
>>28681151No idea. I vote sacrifice personally. We have nobody we need to immediately kick the ass of.
>>28681151SMASH THE GREYDOG SCUM
>>28681151Will raiding lower farmer morale by very much in Dark Seasons? Carls are gonna carl, but perhaps we should sacrifice to raise the clan mood.
>>28681151>Farmers are resolvedHuh thats newguess its time to raid
Luckily we have time to both raid and sacrifice. While we take care of dogs, who should we sacrifice to, and for what benefit?>>28681326Resolved is the neutral state. One raid a year (excluding needing to teach someone a lesson) will keep everyone content.
Small change: Since we're accepting tribute from the Greydogs I turned our forces attention on the Vostangi.I also noticed that we're feuding with the Tedanlings now. We'll have something for them later...
Orlgard is Very Good in all the relevant stats (Combat, Leadership, Magic).
>>28681367Guess we could sacrifice to Elmal for the Shield Blessing. If Thane recruitment is drying up, we don't want to have any more Thane deaths if we can help it.
>>28681445Are we? They attacked us.
>>28681482Try #3. Getting help from other warriors is a good idea.
Orlgard couldn't hack it.>>28681495Picked it up and enshrined it a few years back.>>28681495I checked, they're still paying. The attack must have come between them defaulting and us reminding them of their obligation.
Dammit Orlgard. You started so well too.
A variation on the information request event. We actually have a pretty good knowledge spread; Onelisin adds that his decisions are bold and cautious in turns.
>>28681608Once again, even in defeat we still manage to massacre far more of the enemy than we lose to them. Only our injuries among footmen were higher, and slightly at that.
>>28681658do we have any reason not too?1
>>28681720Basically this. There are four possible questions that can be asked, and they asked the one we know nothing about. You guys guess or leave it up to Eurmal to decide.
>>28681861Good luck faggots, we're behind Heroic Leadership and Custom.
>>28681861At least we didn't owe them a favour, we didn't really lose anything other than a bit of relations.
>>28681861damn.I think we should send the Tree bros some gifts.
On the other hand, the tribe's mood didn't so much s twitch, and we're still allied with the Tree Brothers. Now, I had a thought about the Tedanlings...
Maran Gor's rituals are pretty nasty. Earthblood doesn't differentiate between your blood and that of invaders, and Blast Earth directly strikes at the heart of another clan.Do we invoke the wrath of the Earthshaker?
>>28682036Have Maran Gor give the Tedanlings a lapdance. BLAST THAT EARTH.
This won't make us any friends.
I forgot that we got an extra point to invest in our crafters thanks to forming a tribe. I'll go ahead and invest it now in iron, and crank up our crafters as well. We seem to have too many hunters, I'll rachet them down next unless we want to go exploring.
The Greydogs rejoin our football league.
We'll have to try it in Earth season next time. Unless it retroactively went into effect.
The Tree Brothers seem to be in poor straights. Wonder if they were trying to buy food from the Tedanlings earlier?
>>28682331Give more. We did just use a spell that makes everyone fear us, should make nice with our tribe.
>>28682331#2Tree bros are our bros. We have plenty, we can be generous in their time of need.
>>28682331More favors is always a good thing.>>28682279I say next opportunity arises we hit 'em good. Maybe just for cattle, though. We seem to be in need of warming back up these last few battles.
Enough food to feed 60 people for a year sounds about right.
+global rep-farmer moraleWe'll be sacrificing to improve morale next I think. That or trading. Any preferences?
>>28682440Bump morale first, then trade.
Morale up. Come to think of it, I think one of the rewards in the Ernalda heroquest greatly improves the farmers mood. Might be something to try if we really get sick of the carls whining.
And that's the year. We'll go trading next year.
Here's our preview of next year. Hope you like cows; this with Calf Blessing means we'll probably face cow overcrowding.
And that's a wrap. I'll stick around for a bit if anyone has questions, otherwise we'll be back tomorrow.Hope you enjoyed.
>>28682662At least we'll have plenty of cows to sacrifice/trade/gift!
>>28682662Have we wilderness we can use to generate more pastureland?
>>28682738Have you ever successfully completed a game with a Trickster chief?Have you ever successfully become King of Dragon Pass with a trickster chief?
>>28682744Oh yes. We have more wildlands than pasture and cropland combined; something like 500 units altogether.
>>28682822Eeeeexcellent. Shit's gonna be so cows.
>>28682820Never tried either. It would make for an interesting experiment. Problem is that Tricksters are rare enough that it's possible to go through the entire game without one. The odds of any individual noble surviving to the end are low given the randomized age of your starting nobles and the random nature of the game.
>>28682662God fucking damn Orstalor hasnt aged a day
>>28683235If our current guy dies, we put Orstalor up.
>>28683235Being reasonable and sage relative to most other tricksters has probably increased his life expectancy considerably.
>>28682662>overcowdingGood problem to have, at least.
>>28684468Kinda. It actually presages a mass die off.
