You gape at hearing that last bit of information, hardly believing your ears."My mom? A person that knows mom?" Your smile tears across your face, bright and cheerful, dispelling any military manner you may have had. Your heart beats twice in sucession as you're giddy with the word."Really? You're serious Boss?"Giovanni gives you a slow and controlled nod in affirmation," Indeed I am. From the Frozen wastes that Lorelei travels, a ranger that's trained under her for quite some time is spending three days here, reporting on their findings and giving a yearly reminder that they're still alive out there. Last time the visitor hadn't been sure to find you. This time, he should have a message from your mother."You can't help but squirm in place after how long it's been,"A message... Could I send one back?""Of course."Fatigue effectively melts out of your body at the news, causing you to forget how tired you are,"By Arceus, this is.. This is awesome.""I suppose I should call ahead for him to wait for you there?"You nod rapidly, your heart beating a million miles a minute,"Yes, yes, yes, I'll be there fast, as fast as I can, Oh so-"Giovanni chuckles a little at that,"Go then, I'll make the ca-"You run around The Boss's table, hugging him around the neck in his chair,"Thank you, thank you Boss! You're the best Boss ever! I'll make you proud, I mean it!"The man gives you a gentle pat on the head,"Alright Cerulean, Alright. Can't keep people waiting now."You jump back, heading for the door,"Of course Boss, right away Boss, thank you Boss!" You throw the door open in you rush, looking back at the last moment," Oh, and I really like the birthday gift! Thank you!"Closing the door, you find the energy to run back to your dorm to change, boarding the Veridian Tram along the Gym-stop. other Veridian trainees walking by finding their way to their gym for their Noon training.

Stamina: 15%You decided to wear your favorite water-blue dress with some gloves tipped to sheath your claws. You swish it to and fro happily as you board the electromag tram en route to Pallet Square. From there it'd be easy to find the Research institute after all.On the tram, you get a few weird looks from some non-ranger passengers. A nervous smile to try to disarm their and your unease proves to only worsen it, a lady moving a few seats down from you, her chin up and her eye focused on your out of the corner. You've gotten looks like this before from some people. You tug at your dress with a bit of anxiety, turning your thoughts toward the person that you'd be meeting at the institute.Word from mom. That's enough to drive away the pressure of those looks. Though it may as well make people just as nervous with the "monster" on board smiling madly to itself.Oh well, they can deal with it. You're happy.>+1 to Ten.

>>28649800Dang. If only our grafts weren't so obvious...oh well.Try not to disturb anyone, and lets get going. Woo Tenacious!
>>28649800We haven't interacted with civilians extensively in the past, right? With fellow rangers, no one really reacts much to one another's implants. Or, even in cases like Koga's, we just easily accept it even after being initially perturbed by his appearance (as we were with Kitty the first time we saw her up close).I guess this sort of problem is going to crop up more as we grow older and are forced to interact with the normal populace more, huh?
I CANNOT WAIT for the nighttime trip to ghost town."Hello? Anyone there? I brought cake!"

>>28649968>No, it's just that what civilians think of her matters a shit ton less than being stronger. Fuck she will also see it as protecting those people better. That's one way to react, anon, but others here may choose to reign in the number of implants we get. It'd be a valid choice.

>>28650007She's 12. I also meant to allude to the fact that this kind of social reprucussion has tended to happen to her for almost the past 2 years.Just drawing in more overall background fluff.Civies don't really like to see rangers all the time, especially ones with predatory teeth. Scary in person.>>28650050>>28650012Only 2 type limit.
>>28650012Long as it's two types, excluding Normal and Flying, and assuming you aren't 100% monster, no limit
>>28650042Fucking hated that bitch. As annoying as he was in the beginning my favorite was black star.
>>28650007Is it inconsequential? We are human beings, after all. It's fine to be hurt when others think negatively of you. That just proves we have feelings. It's fine to roleplay like that. There's no requirement where we need to max out our character's equips.Right now, Cerulean DOES care about what other people think about her looks. There's no changing that. And there are anons here who care about her looks too, although from a design perspective. That's a valid concern as well.
>>28650061>Social pressureYeah...really need to master the art of the toothless smile.
Would eating a dead ranger's implants be cannibalism, just wondering
>all this desire for low profile implantsYou just fuel my shellder bone lacing surgery suggestions, anon.Fuck organ damage, we've got reinforced ribcage.
>>28650072Black star had some serious character growth. He went from Narutard to sword saint.
>>28650074And once we go back to the barracks or better yet, the next time we see a monster whatever small part of her that cares what they think (not her friends which she has plenty of) will die for good. Oliver showed her just how serious this was, serious enough to put that shit aside.
>>28650083Oh god I just realized how cute, and sad, a little social quirk like that really is."She loves to smile, but she never shows her teeth, and if you make her smile wide enough to force it, she covers her mouth with her gloved hands. She doesn't want anyone to see. She doesn't want to scare anyone anymore."
>>28650121Shells are external. Plus then we couldn't use shell smash.
>>28650137Is there anything stopping us from implanting them internally?
>Civvies scared of a 60%er
>>28650137teeth are supposed to be in your mouth, but we don't want to bite things so we made them into claws. The same can be said for other grafts we will get.
>>28650121I will never get over how stupid that is. Why in the world wouldn't we put it on top of the skin so it can actually protect us.
>>28650131Anon, all I'm saying is that there are other ways for her character to develop. And that there are people here interested in making sure that Cerulean's design doesn't look dumb. Have you ever been to any of the Mary Sue threads? Where they post pictures of the worst designed Sues? Yeah. Don't want any of that.
I imagine we'll have external Shells on our arms and legs over major arteries so we can use them to shield us while the rest will be internal around our vitals.
>>28650158Anon, you.....It'd protect us, alright. Just not like external armor. It shouldn't be hard to understand why having unbreakable bones is a good thing.I understand that you think having it on top is better as armor. It is. But having it underneath does have its benefits as well and is less obtrusive.
>>28650158It still protects the important bits if it's under the skin. Raises general survivability by a whole huge amount with very minimal profile change or loss of mobility.basically; Adamantium bones. Combined with our regen-like rest.
>Not getting shellder bone grafts AND external plating
>>28650162It's not about that. No matter how much people try to throw that buzzword around, we are not a matter sue. We can be able to do many or most things and not be one. You can start saying we're a Mary sue once we get articuno wings.
maybe along our spine as well.
>>28650215No, you misunderstand. The reason why I brought up Mary Sues is to illustrate that design is important and that having too much going on at the same time can destroy the image. A sense of aesthetics is important when making characters.
>>28650202I just see no reason to put them under our skin instead of on top of it. And looks doesn't count.
>>28650215Considering how big Articuno probably is in the absurdly unlikely event that it's taken down there'll probably be a lot of Articuno implanted Rangers soon after if the body is usable.
>>28650246Fitting into clothes easier, less restricted mobility, general comfort while using our all important rest ability, hydrodynamics, as shellders aren't very good swimmers, need I go on?There's all sorts of advantages to a slimmer profile that should be considered.
>>28650190have you seen how cloyster? evolving subdermal shellder implants could kill us, and before you say just don't evolve it it means we can't handle water stones.
>>28650215Right now we look more monster than human. It's just fortunate that we look pretty much like a fluffy plump cat instead of an abomination. But when we start grafting things to us that aren't even -vertebrates- things can get ugly.
>>28650296>picOh dear god wat
>>28650246Having armor doesn't stop penetrating hits (that is to say, strikes that get past armor through shock/ripples). It's like....building a bunker. It's not just the exterior that should be fortified. The insides should be even sturdier. Better support. So external versus internal; they have different protective benefits, and the latter would be more aesthetically pleasing and less restrictive to our movements.>>28650291We'll work it out, anon. Talk to a scientist in the story. No need to worry about things like that now.
>>28650291Shell spikes would jut out from the skin. Spiked Knucks, Spiked Elbow, Spiked Spine.Be completely terrible for putting on clothes. And, you know. Harder than diamond.
>>28650241This isn't about "making a character" in this world rangers do what they must to survive or they die. basing anything off of asthetics is retarded when it affects life and death situations. Characters will almost never choose to die (or have a higher chance of dying) than to look a little mismatchedPlus shelder armor isn't ugly if we place it right.
>>28650153It wouldn't make full use of having a shell, if it was actually possible. Cloyster can take less damage from weather effects, become immune to spores, and shift from buffing under it's shell to full offense. Withdraw > Focus energy x times > shell smash > lock on + sniper + icebeam spam anyone?
>>28650296Purple and yellow I'd fuck, the others a touch too furry for me
>>28650327But most rangers aren't completely maxed out.Like Jessica, Jamie, Kitty, they could all have a LOT more grafts than they actually do.And are you honestly going to tell me that they're not the best around?>>28650307What's the problem? Do you really think we'll look much better when we grow up?
I really really don't like shellder/cloyster at all and I hope we try to work on what we have now instead of trying to pile more and more on.Look at what the older rangers we know have. We're already sitting at the same or more types of implants than most of them.
>>28650282How many times do I have to say this? Getting some parts does not turn you into that pokemon. Swimming will not be affected. Shells are also light as fuck. It going on our skin (not jutting out from) won't reduce mobility unless we plate our joints over like a dumbass.
>>28650327And yet, Gym Leaders.....Look, anon, these are valid complaints. Stop belittling them. You don't have to agree, but you must acknowledge the fact that other people are concerned on this issue. Don't act like a twat.
>>28650330it would also require substantially less shellders. Though, the spikes-jutting-from-skin thing would be a problem.
>>28650346>fucking the 2 that will melt you dick off
>>28650330How the fuck would that work for us?Unless we take a page from Samus and somehow Morph-Ball into our shell, there's no way for us to get that kind of protection.Cloyster is a sphere with a douchey expression, even if we graft it onto us, it won't mean we'll be able to do everything it can.
>>28650359This is disturbingly relevant.>FeraligatorOh god no we know someone that took Totodile I think
>>28650395>Cloyster is a sphere with a douchey expressionYou mean an anti-rape goblin.
>>28650395>Douchy expression.I assume you mean the anti rape goblin. He's not a douche, though he can double as one in a pinch.
>>28650346I'm pretty sure we're just as far gone, since we got the cat mouth, nose, mouth that changed our facial structure, eyes. How do people even recognize us?
>>28650291Things evolve to fit their needs. Still against it though>>28650296Who cares about asthetics? And I said it before we're just taking parts not becoming it. >>28650325I wouldn't mind, would make us a bit more like misty, though we not get it on our back. Or not evolve it
>>28650415>You mean an anti-rape goblin.I always thought it looked like a Ghastly with a hard-on.
>>28650387I'd go out as a legend instead of a furfagworth it
>>28650431>How do people even recognize us?My guess would be "The fat cat bitch with a horn"
>>28650432>Who cares about asthetics?Well, clearly, some anons do. Else this conversation wouldn't be taking place.
>>28650431We have the cat teeth, I see no reason for a hare-lip, and the rhinarium could easily be left behind while taking the improved sinuses. Really, the only things that are definite are that we have the full ears and the teeth.
>>28650325That would be terrible for hugging.
>>28650467>>28650432It's not that I'm against defense, guys...but...I wouldn't mind getting rid of cat teeth. I mean, not like we're gonna actually bite stuff.
>>28650371But the sole reason of asthetics is dumb. That's all there is to say. Looks don't matter when lives are on the line.
>>28650475and eyes, woops
>>28650490They boost mouth based Ice attacks.
>>28650461I meant like Marine and Aqua.Since the horn and hair are the only things in common with our previous form. Also I forget, Goldenrod didn't get Abra's face/ears right? So he just kind of has yellow fur?
>>28650494Look. Anon. Just respect is. Don't be an ass, alright? Gawd. How hard is it not be to not act like such a jerk about this?
>>28650501>Having teeth makes ice beam betterWha? that makes no sense.
>>28650490Frost breath. And we don't have to evolve the shelder
>>28650522frost breath. The cryttens teeth are cold emitters.
>>28650431>How do people even recognize us?"is she hugging someone right now?"
>>28650525no, the yellow teeth were... I thought anyway. We put those on our hands
>>28650536the others were as well, but not as powerful.
>>28650325Spiked Knuckles are counter productive to our current mods can't use them at the same time as our Remoraid guns and Crytten tooth claws. Elbow Spikes are covered by the Crytten mods.but the armoured spine, ribcage and legs are helpful
>>28650536I think he's saying that we shoot ice beams out of our hands.Which we probably can because of the Remoraid implants?
>>28650461I just imagine civies talking about us"So that fat cat bitch with a horn hugged me yesterday after the attack, errrrgh"
>>28650501Nah that's only the special golden teeth.Which we put in our hands.>>28650473You only noticed that now? Despite the horrifying name, the artist doesn't really have anything that objectionable. ...Nor anything that exceptional either.
>>28650518Frost teeth make mouth base frost attacks stronger. >>28650518I refuse to believe someone cares about asthetics when their life is on the line. Cerulean would gladly be ugly as fuck if it meant protecting her friends and the dome.
>>28650547Oh, no I just wanted to get rid of the teeth in our mouth. So we can smile again.
>>28650551They both do, the small ones just less
>>28650551>Nah that's only the special golden teeth.>>28650536No. All the teeth in mouth give a boost to mouth-launched Ice attacks. The gold sabrefangs would have given a bigger boost if put in-mouth, but we didn't. So we only got the mid level boost for the non-sabre teeth.
>>28650560>I refuse to believe someone cares about asthetics when their life is on the line. Cerulean would gladly be ugly as fuck if it meant protecting her friends and the dome.she'd still rather not be so fat
>>28650494Except lives won't depend on us being completely covered in grafts. Most rangers only have one species probably.Even Misty herself only has three, doesn't she?And hell, Brock only has two for some reason.
>>28650563We can, just not around civies
>>28650563What would we replace them with? They didn't save our teeth, And we can smileit's just horrifying to civilians, who we currently have no friends off, Besides imagine how awesome it would be to befriend one of them and make them learn not to judge books by their covers? Overcome the obstacle, don't avoid it.
>>28650560>I refuse to believe someone cares about asthetics when their life is on the line. Cerulean would gladly be ugly as fuck if it meant protecting her friends and the dome.See, Anon. You're being horrible because you continue to disregard other people's opinions on this matter. There are things we'd rather not be forced to do if we can help it. And, fortunately, we can help it.Other Gym Leaders can "help it" too.Cerulean is a human being, anon, and she is allowed to act like one. She is not required to become the perfect soldier.
>>28650621>She is not required to become the perfect soldier. That was a poor choice of words, considering one of our earliest stated goals is to be the best.
>>28650621I'd go so far to say that too many grafts is bad. They interfere if you don't put them in useful places (Like, say, the gold teeth. If we put them in our mouth) Or if we put every water type ever into us?Besides, none of our skills are even above 5. I'd rather wait till we master something before we jam more flesh in us.
Disembarking from the tram, you follow the street signs to the institute, receiving fewer stares as you near, much to your relief. You'd run down these streets if you weren't so tired, you swear. Everything's still so sore, especially after sitting on the tram like that.Within the insitute, you look around in the lobby. The person should be here. Where-"You there, you're Cerulean, yes?" You hear the deep and low voice of a man from behind you, your ears twitch in the direction of the voice, your head following suit in the next instant. Before you stands a tall man, well. All adults are tall, but this one is more so than usual. A light blue, almost white Ranger uniform covered most of his body with a thick white fur spilling out from his built chest and swollen arms and hands. His teeth look like Shark's and you can see that despite the fur, his hands bear a kind of webbing along with his face being angular, though shaggy hair falls before his eyes. This man indeed is huge, bigger than you expected, and you're baffled that you hadn't noticed him right away. You absently nod your head, gazing upon this giant of a man with a stark wonder. The man extends a hand the size of a dinner plate, talons at the end of his fingers,"Nice to meet you little, Cerulean. My name is Gustav. It is a pleasure to meet you.">"Nice to meet you Mr. Gustav..." Shake his hand.> Look on in wonder, stunned by his largeness.> "You know my mom?"> (Other)
>>28650585She wouldn't get rid of the implants because she knows they protect her. >>28650586It is very simple. Armor = more combat capability. More combat capability = more protecting. Very simple. Personally identifiable think Prof made a mistake keeping most rangers confined like he does. They would be taking implants all over the place.
I just realized something. If Ice rangers get sent to frozen hellholes, wouldn't Fire/Ice be just as good, if not better in some situations than water/Ice would?
>>28650651>"Nice to meet you Mr. Gustav..." Shake his hand. This guy. Any guesses as to what his implants are?
>>28650586Yeah Misty has three, Goldeen (evolved) Horsea (evolved) and Starmie.Brock has two, Golem and OC Skalgite (which I think is kind of bullshit. Not that he has an OC, but just that he only has those two).Even Koga only has two separate species of grafts, Venonat (some evolved, some not) and Weedle (evolved). So really, we have more than most gym leaders at this point. Three is a perfectly respectable amount.
>>28650651>>"Nice to meet you Mr. Gustav..." Shake his hand.
>>28650647Obviously. You just have to be smart about where we place them. People seem to be forgetting our shit defense.
>>28650651"Nice to meet you Mr. Gustav..." Shake his hand.Let's try and be polite...even though he'd be able to tear our arm off with a simple twist.
>>28650663Getting stabbed with Icicles works just as well as on a normal type. It's more to do with effects and environmental jargon.Ice/Fire has also never happened in a pokemon species, nor does it even seem likely as a ranger. They'd likely need to go Asymmetric.
>>28650663Too late anon. We missed that glorious boat.I was sad too
>>28650653>She wouldn't get rid of the implants because she knows they protect her.wasn't suggesting that, only that she cares somewhat about how she looks.
>>28650691>They'd likely need to go AsymmetricWhat?
>>28650651Quick! Talk to strangers!
>>28650651Turn on the cold, walk straight past his massive paw, and give him a nice cold fluffy hug. Try not to get lost in his hugeness."It's nice to meet you too Gustav. Could you pass this on to my mother when you see her next?"Then it's time for a childish barrage of questions, like how he got so big, if our mother talks about us, what it's like up in the arctic, what they do up there, what his team mates are like.
>>28650651>>"Nice to meet you Mr. Gustav..." Shake his hand.> "You know my mom?">"Wow. You are HUGE!"in that order
>>28650711Yes, but they will always be behind any and all combat ability.
>>28650651And now we try to figure out what Gustav is. I'm thinking Bliger for sure. What else?
>>28650721I like the first and middle part here.
>>28650721This. Cold hugs all around. >>28650
>>28650713>Premature Freezer Array: Cold sacs that have been installed within your body, they lower your core temperature to comfortable levels. enables Frozen fur and eases ice-based weaponry. +1 rank to acquired Ice skills -5 rank to acquired Fire Skills.odds are that the Fire sacs have a similar but reversed effect
>>28650733Sharkpedo.If he got lucky/unlucky.Seriously, that pokemon is terrifying.
>>28650681And people are also forgetting that we don't need to be the best at every role. This is one of the worst aspects of /tg/ in quests; their tendency to turtle.
>>28650651>>[x]"Nice to meet you Mr. Gustav..." Shake his hand.Very professional of us. I think it fits the experienced view Cerulean's developed over the the year.
>>28650733I'm thinking Sharpedo and Beartic
>>28650651>"Nice to meet you Mr. Gustav..." Shake his hand.> "You know my mom?"Shake his hand, since he offered it, but we're excited as fuck.>>28650721ok this is pretty good too.>>28650676>>28650733I'm gonna go with the longshot of Beartic.>>28650713Put the implants on opposite sides of the body so they don't interfere with each other.
>>28650768Professionalism is for when it doesn't involve our mother. He's the closest thing to her that we're getting for a while. And look at the guy, he probably gives awesome bear hugs and knows how nice cold hugs are.
>>28650727"Fear not the man that practices 10000 different kicks. Fear the man that has practiced one kick 10000 times."It's a mstter of specializing vs generalization. Both are viable, though you'll see some falling into one more than the other.Covering bases with multiple types of implants vs using 1-2 with maximum effectiveness.

The reason we would get more grafts is because of the passives they bring, not their active abilites. Perfect temperture control. Super Durability. Regeneration. Like one of the reasons we got remoraids is because they have that super-crit ability. Shelldar fits into that niche pretty well. We don't really need any of its abilites, just its durability.Since living through getting pulped by something stronger then us would be nice.

You nod your head again, smiling with your fang-like teeth at the large man,"It's nice to meet you Mister Gustav!" You grab his large hand that entirely dwarfs your own, his paw forming around it and giving it a gentle shake. It surprises you how careful he is.What should be crushing strength is actually a delicate though firm grasp. You don't remember anything about your father, though if you had to think of a fatherly feeling, this would be it.The man kneels down beside you, getting more on the level,"How have you been doing Cerulean?" He smiles through his beard, an inexplicably kind tone to his voice. The child in you begins to come out more, a giddy smile finding its way upon your face,"Oh, I've been good. I, well, I joined the rockets, and I've been training really hard. Boss says I'm his top trainee."Gustav chuckles at that like an old friend, or an uncle. "Ah, yes, yes. Giovanni. Good to know that you're working hard." Gustav glances about, checking other people before leaning over by your ear for a whisper."Be careful with that man, you hear? He's the scheming sort." Pulling away, his jolly smile returns to his face."I don't expect us to just sit here and chat though, we could speak elsewhere if you'd like. >>28651343That's always how I've viewed Giovanni. Bruise's final form
>>28651287Grafting a shell (which will eventually become spiky as all fuck) to your flesh, permanently, is very different from wearing body armour when it's needed. Missions seem to resolve around either resource acquisition, recon, extermination, or capture. All of those work better through having higher mobility and abusing repel gear so as not to be noticed at all while you snatch and grab or blast the shit out of the target. By the time you need ULTRA CLOYSTER ARMOR to tank shit, you've fucked up immensely. That's not saying that it would never be useful, but it does not jive with the nature of the job as much as people are claiming it does.
>>28651298koga's got both venonat and moth providing different boosts. >I was counting in terms of separate species.we have 2.5(we removed the water components from the seel grafts)Misty has 3, koga has 3.

>>28651458To be honest I kind of feel like all our bases are covered. We're even gonna eventually become airborne when we get Barioth, so I'm not sure what else we really need.
>>28651458yeah, I'd prefer internal grafting from here on out.
>>28651409This man gets it.If you're at the point where you need to start tanking hits. You've done fucked up.Rangers are outnumbered, outgunned, and outmatched.Rangers must rely on speed, stealth, and hitting hard and fast, and then retreating before retaliation comes their way.Large, bulky armor does not help with that.Large, bulky armor may aid us in taking a few hits...but we should not be taking those hits in the first place. That and we've already built for speed and range. What you're doing is effectively taking a lightweight boxer, one who relies on footwork and speed, and throwing him in a match while wearing Full Plate. Yeah, he's gonna tank some hits....but he's completely out of his element and is taking far more hits than he would have without the armor.
>>28651458I'm cool with that. Personally I see us more like a glass cannon than a turtle, so the shell idea doesn't fit.

You try to his a frown from his comment about Giovanni,"Don't talk about the Boss that way, isn't nice."Gustav pats your head gently,"Ah right, right. Sorry. Been out in the cold so long it's kind of frozen my noggin."Under his attention, you can't help but smile again,"Let's go for a walk in Pallet Central Park, I'll show you were it is, come on!"You grab at his hand and start tugging at him with your tired body as he lets himself be tugged along."Alright, alright little Cerulean, lead the way."THe two of you leave the institute as you carry on telling him about your time as a ranger, the people you've met, and how thinking about mom's gotten you through so much. Gustav, patient and friendly as he is just nods right along listening to it, everything. When you think you don't have anything left to say about something, he asks a question that gets you going again, realizing that you almost forgot some detail or that there's a whole other story in that one.Despite just meeting the man, you find him easy to talk to. You can't quite put your finger on it. He's patient, calm, and collect. Maybe it's because he knows mom?Oh, you need to ask about that."So, about my mom.""Ah, yes. You want to know about that now?" His eyes turn from the gentle foliage that drapes over the arch of trees over the walkways.Pushing a sleeve up, he reveals an icy blue Index with a distinct red mark upon it. "I've recorded a message for you on my index. I can take one back to your mother as well."THe man thinks for a moment,"What would you like to know first?">Where's Mom?> Is she okay?> Is she sending these presents?(Crytten)> Message, now please.> (Other)

>>28651561....jet propulsion from feet....shooting beams from hands and gem in chest......armor....WE IRON MAN NOW
I fail to see why we would get external shellder armor implanted. It's as hard as diamond and lightweight, we could easily make a breastplate out of it to wear. The only thing we lose is the ability to regenerate it, which isn't a problem, because shellders are common and easy to catch.

What are you all doing?"Gustav goes uncharacteristically silent at that, shaking his head slowly," Not something that I can exactly say. We walk places of floating ice and snow. Colder than any non-ice ranger would dare to go with monsters just as vicious as the weather. Though the two are hardly different. Rest assured though. The work we do is important. Though it seems you have enjoyed our gift from one of our last visits." The man gestures at you, effectively all of you."Oh, umm. Oh! Did you and mom get the Crytten?"Gustav chuckles heartily at that," Get it? I'm the one that named it. Little blasted cubs cry like their injured only to pounce when you think its safe to get close. Blasted monsters just about gnawed off a ranger's arm. Frostbite set so we had to get him a new one. Should've named them Arm-knackers or something." He says in a bit of reflection."Anything else?"You shake your head," No sir, I'd like to hear the recording."The man carefully goes through a few inputs on his index, until finally:
Are Gyarados grafts a thing?
>>28651927You have to start with the unevolved pokemon to graft. So Magikarp, and the resulting evolution would lead to will saves to avoid eating people
>>28651948I want to bear gustav's hairy children
>>28651933Please tell me there's a Steel/Water ranger equivalent of THE CLAMPS!

>>28651954I seeperhaps that should go later then?
>>28651927You can graft Magikarp and it'll evolve into a Gyarados graft.Evolving that graft also makes you go batshit psychotic, so it's not common.
>>28651865also counter productive to ceru's build, but you mix that with a cloyster on someone else and you get someone with the best smashing arm ever

>>28652071he can still do that
>>28652062The point is, we don't know WHY he does it, there must be a reason, he seems like the pragmatic type (ninja, and he is one of the rangers that has gone furthest into monster-mode). Maybe it warms them up for his trainees?
>>28651920There's harsh winds in the background, howling and rolling. You can imagine it whipping up snow.Your mother's voice begins to come through. Calm and collected despite the raging background noise."Cerulean, this is your mother, Lorelei. I've heard you're growing up into a fine ranger. You even joined the rockets like I did. I looked at your pictures, your training reports, everything that I could get sent back out here.I just want you to know that I'm so proud of you Cerulean. I also wanted to tell you that it's perfectly natural to bleed from you know where. If you get especially concerned you should-"The message cuts off, with Gustav's good social graces,"Ah, I'll... Umm... I'll just link this to your index to listen to later. I will be leaving the City tomorrow into the night if you wish to send a message back. Ahhh alright?"You blush furiously and nod quickly at that," Uh huh, right. yes, thank you."With that awkward note, the two of you part ways for today, you head back to the Rocket dorms to grab leftover cake for Lilac...>END THREAD>Unfortunately it's another 1 thread this week. >>28652131Damn nice thread bro. Went a little short today. You seem kinda tired. Am I correct in blaming the holidays?

His canine features improve his tracking abilities. He's a hunter and a torturer.
>>28652258>'bout to just write Shellder as a richfag delicacyPikmin 2 style?Because it's been my dream for someone who knows about food to write something like that for pokemon.
>>28652321Cool. We can definitely rely on him to..../sunglasses.jpg...shadow a target.
>>28652321Gotta love that lucky roll.I also had one more question, mostly involving the quest's name sake...erm...Are we ever actually INTENDED to fight the 'titans' of pokemon town so to speak? Not that I'm in a rush to or anything, but we've yet to step outside to smell the deadly acid spewing flowers yet. Color me a little worried should one show up.
>>28652318Females can implant abra too you sexist pig

>>28652131That gave me a good laugh prof. Thanks for the thread.
>>28652338We had TWO lucky rolls. It was a lovely time to be here.Anyway, on "the titans of pokemon town", I don't think the pokemon are supposed to be on the danger level of titans (generally). Or at least, they wouldn't be if we didn't have our implants. But I digress. I just don't think Prof is trying to match SnK's tone exactly.
>>28652321I'm assuming the first time we let Devon "interrogate" someone will play out a little like the first 90 seconds of this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byfgmXxJcG8
>>28652386Titans from said show are weak sauce compared to pokedex pokemon
>>28652386>>28652413I'll be honest with you both, I don't know jack shit about Titans from AoT other then they're suppose to be super fucking strong or something. Or at least hard to kill.
>>28652381The mental image shall haunt me till my end, But sadly, I know, I will never be able to rest until I see it drawn or written, and this sickens me
>>28652429There titans in this? fffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, imagine a titan shifter Cerulean
>>28652413Let me clarify; the disparity between our strength and the enemy's strength is probably not meant to match the one between the titans and the military in SnK. Because the gap isn't as large, the tone of the story is different. The only ones who can really represent the titans for us are the pokemon who are higher up on the threat level list. Like dragons. Or legendaries.
>>28652433You're welcome. Enjoy hunting the internet for that one.>>28652450Oh I figured that much. I was just curious if we'd be zooming through the air and stabbing massive creatures in the back of the neck and what not with super powers.Mostly curiosity.
>>28652406Oh devon, you are the worst/best
>>28652338>Color me a little worried should one show up.Well, REDACTED>>28652386>I just don't think Prof is trying to match SnK's tone exactly.Pretty much why I decided the dome shouldn't fall or have a real breach early. Zapdos was a look at the fact that there are in fact things outside the dome that can kill you and barely even noticed. The Veridian forest was a look at the fact that even bugs can kill.>>28652450There are also no titan shifters. the SnK is pretty much the premise of the setting "Post apocalypse and all. Not titans or shifters in the regard. Heck, not even a "the dome is pokemons!"Though volt orbs are made from electric types.

Let's get a Ralts for Goldie.
>>28652473>ZapdosI meant to ask: I thought we were suppose to take care of failing electricity mission there-or is that the mission we zoomed past with the forest trial? Also, I'd just like to say I really appreciate the slow build up we have. When we kill our first wild pokemon that's maybe a C or B level? We'll feel awesome! Then, way later, when we (if we're lucky) fell a S or something, we'll feel truly accomplished, instead of going "Big deal I killed 6 of those for breakfast."That's part of why I'm here, honestly.
>>28652487Once again, read the pastebin. They are made with electrofibers harvested from pokemon.
>>28652481Holy shit....>>28652486Mission accomplished then
>>28652507Ah, I see. Also, sounding a bit snotty there, anon. Be mindful of your tone, m'kay?
>>28652493lets do this, Though I will feel sad for the little bastard. The ralts not goldy
>>28652493He does already have green hair. So it would just be the red crest things and the butt.
>>28652493I feel bad that my eyes went right to the face. And I scared myself.Fuck man. I remember when that pokemon could have been male.
>>28652473Wait there aren't any shifters? Then what are these spoon-bending bastards up to when not forced to fight other monsters for the amusement of human children?
>>28652521I'd rather get a Meditite for him. It'd help him with his concentration problems and would make him an even better scout (he'd be able to eat less and erase his presence from the world).
>>28652523yeah the butt reduction sure would be extreme on Goldenrod's sticklike frame.Actual gardevoir line is not a curvy voluptuous waifu, it is an ephemeral waif.
>>28652321>Rocket status came a bit earlier than expected. We're officially Rockets, huh? Is this because we skipped past most of the training regime due to our lucky rolls or, because of our lucky rolls, Cerulean did so well that she's been seen fit to "graduate" early? Like skipping grades in school.
>>28652571Still terrifying...in the face, a bit. But at least my eye is drawn to the ass instead now....I somehow feel worse.
>>28652487I'm saying that Silph advises against drawing eyes on Volt Orbs.
>>28652543why not both?
>>28652579I don't think I have anymore that I feel comfortable posting without drawing black lines over them in paint.
>>28652580What about lewd drawings of Giovanni?
>>28652580I'd like to ask your thoughts on wearing the Macho Brace at all times.I was one of the guys against wearing it all the time, but it'd help to know if I'm missing something
>>28652587Shittily compressed voltorbs aren't good enough for you?
>>28652587Jesus why. Why the face. It's suppose to be cute, damn it!
>>28652580Okay I already know the answer is POKESCIENCE, but how does that work?
>>28652598It is cute. Really.
>>28652583Ralts is Fairy/Psychic. Meditite is Fighting/Psychic.>>28652580So what are the penalties to wearing Macho Brace in combat? What can we expect?
>>28652598What do you mean, anon? Her face IS cute.
>>28652583Because Meditite is Psychic/Fighting and Ralts is Psychic/Fairy?He'd need to already have his Ralts evolved into a Gallade if he wants Meditite.
>>28652605>Ralts is Fairy/Psychicare we using Fairy?
>>28652598I think it's cute.As does my boner.
>>28652599Oh, the answer is less complicated than you think.>Get stuck in wilderness away from any other ranger/human.>Be alone for a few weeks.>Draw eyes on Volt Orb in blood or something.>Start talking to it.>Go slowly insane while trying to preserve insanity>WILSON
>>28652615Sylveon was stated as a likely evolution if Ceru had Eevees implanted due to her personality.
>>28652604>>28652607>>28652625Please tell me you're all fucking with meOr...or you all get boners from crack heads with ribbons in their hair...
>>28652630Ok, so it's the companion cube line, not that it is likely to spontaneously become a sentient technorganic monster.
>>28652632I kinda wonder how things woulda gone if we'd picked Normal as our first type and played the same kind of HUG IT ALL personality with an eevee
>>28652632Just a possibility, I believe. Eevee implants are unstable. From our personality, to our biology, to our environment; anything could cause an evolution.
>>28652630>Go slowly insane while trying to preserve insanity
>>28652615We are. It's just that Kanto doesn't know much about them because they haven't gotten a hold of any Clefairy/Jigglypuff yet.Not sure about Mr. Mime though.

>>28652658IT'S TOO LATE FOR PROFEVERYBODY RUN
>>28652649I have tons of these pics. I think it's cute.

>>28652678It is.that picture isn't
>>28652678Well I'm with the other guyshe looks like she's about to bite my dick off and sell it for a drug of dubious Origins
>>28652681We better fucking discover it and invent milkshakes. If just so Cerulean can bring all them to the yard.
>>28652688...You'd probably not appreciate the numerous blowjob pics, then. You can still see the teeth.
>>28652681those are just a specialty ice cream with some faces made of frosting
>>28652694Dear lord why. That guy needs to work on faces.unless it was on purpose. I think it was on purpose. It's consistently that way in those pics.

>>28652713And what are these stories I'm hearing about some Porygon Vista?

>>28652798It shocked me and moved to the lawnmower, Help.
>>28652816FUCK, how did I balls this up?
>>28652811"Trade Evolution"Whatever that means for this quest is unknown. For reference, Friendship Evolution is when one experiences camaraderie (for rangers) or bonds with the pack (for wild pokemon).
>>28652830but it's already an evolved state so you can't remove the mod and give it to someone else
>>28652843Then that's pretty obviously not what a "Trade Evolution" translates into in this setting.
>>28652843Sell goldy on the black market and steal him back?

>>28652872And then these were stuffed in the lore pastebin>>28652875>Eye out>Not whole head offYou under estimate Sliph Co.
>>28652872Well Damn if it doesn't try to kill me I'll buy a silph co house
>>28652875>Cerulean is going to be doing some pullups or something and one of her straps is going to break and shoot off and it's going to put someone's eye out>>28652882>>Not whole head offWe will be updating our disclaimer.Thank you for sharing your thoughts with Silph Co.
>>28651234Just want to comment about some of the subtler things people may not have realissed about the grafts.Getting some of our ice grafts made us have difficulty with overheating, so it iss obvious that there are passive problems that can be logically deduced. One big thing about an unremovable shell is that it might make it impossible to have children. Think on that please.
>>28652830Speculation has been on getting him to idealogically shift allegiance away from Sabrina.
>>28652894As long as we don't replace our womb/pelvis with a pokemon part, it should be alright.
>>28652872Miss, I recently purchased a Silph Co. brand escape rope. When I went spelunking in a cave and got lost, I attempted to use the escape rope, but to no avail. I threw it up into the air again and again, but I remained stuck within the cave. It took several weeks before a team of rangers came and saved me.Could I get my escape rope checked in? I believe there may have been some sort of malfunction with it.
>>28652894You know what is cool about Cloyster's shell? It opens. And the free anti-rape goblin.
>>28652919Does any Silph Co grade equipment come with a free goblin?I think not.
>>28652894It would also fuck with future surgeries. Note even grafts. Imagine if something like an Exploud liquified our kidneys and we made it back to a safe-zone, but the doctors couldn't do anything because shell.
>>28652867then explain it in nice easy words for my sleep deprived brain, because I'm really not seeing another option that satisfies the Trade part.
>>28652931swapping rangers with another group or something
>>28652931The most likely one is that it will result from some massive life-changing epiphany. Like Goldie not being a grumpy bitch anymore and getting over his mommy issues.
let's ditch the shellder implantsAnd instead make shellder armorI mean, the entire benefit of shellder implants is getting the diamond hard armor, which is a physical property, which means we can make an item for it and do not need implants.
>>28652949It'd be fitting for him, I suppose, to unlock his FULL PSYCHIC MIGHT from a mental revaluation that opens his mind up.
>>28652735>SpoilerApparently you're the only one that thinks that.>>28652903The Manual provided with you Silph Co. Brand Escape rope states that the rope is to be tied to a harness fitted to the body and a nail driven through the anchor end of the rope for hasty exit during spelunking. While Silph Co. appreciates your effort to use our product in new and inventive ways, we ask that you please read the manual completely and fully before using our product.>>28652924Silph Co. has been working on an Anti-rape goblin as it has been made known to us that there is demand for them with the rising trends of valuable Cloysters being pilfered.Unfortunately, the goblins have been less than agreeable and our stacks remain particularly low.Silph Co. employees must now return to their outstanding duties.I hope these questions have been enlightening.
>>28652735>>28652969>implying he's the only oneI just haven't mentioned it.
>>28652950That does mean we are stuck with any of the negatives of armor without the option of ditching it and growing it back later.
>>28652973how would we be stuck with the negatives of the armor? We could take it off.
>>28652973What are the negatives? And I don't think we could just "ditch" it if we implanted it on.
>>28652969What would Silph Co suggest for our defensive needs without totting around a big Cloyster shell?
>>28652950Shelder armor would be pretty bulky. If we want to keep our agility, we'd best limit where we placed it....maybe on our forelegs, like greaves. Not on our arms, though. They'd restrict the Crytten spikes.
>>28652989Silph co brand armor"it's not cardboard"
>>28652989Buckler-sized shields, or plate armor. The logical solution.
>>28653005*Disclaimer*"Honest, it's not. Not this time."
>>28653002>armoring arms and legsFuck that, I just want to get ourselves a shelder vest. Maybe a helmet too.Cover them vital organs, and allow full mobility. Best of all worlds.
>>28652950I wouldn't mind having some subdermal shellder implants, just not the whole body. i'm thinking legs(spiked shin guards, water jets in legs) and Spine(unbreakable).
>>28653007So, does Silph Co. produce weaponry? Were they the ones who provided our bident and Bruise's gladius during the test? Will they continue making weapons or are they considering discontinuing that line of product? (ie; you still planning on making weapons out of pokemon parts)
I'd like for us to get at least the first rank of Ice Fang and/or Bite as right now those fancy gold teeth claws are going to waste.
>>28653012A vest would too bulky and would restrict our movement. The helmet is a good idea, although we'd need something customized towards our particular head (because of the horn). It'd hamper our hearing a bit, but we could always take it off.
>>28653034>vest>hindering mobilityNo, not really. That's the entire point of the shape.
>>28653015What do you mean spine? Do you mean the hinge of the Shelder's shell? It'd make sense if it was just as unbreakable as the rest of the body. We could totally put it on our spine and we'd never have to worry about becoming paralyzed through breaking our back.
>>28652984>>28652985I don't know if there are any negatives, that's why I said 'any of' them. And by ditching it I mean Shell Smash, which I had hoped would just let us shed it (this is better than taking off real armor because if you want your suit back you have to retrieve it, we can regrow a shell), shell smash boosts speed and all attack stats, which I assume covers any negatives that might be from wearing armor, and users don't seem to be worried about being able to grow it back. This is supposition. I guess it is actually like a super-mode in the anime (I haven't seen it in action) where the shell energizes and separates into pieces around the user and supplements their attacks, and I imagine it must coalesce back into form afterwards.
>>28653040It'd be bulky, which is why it would hinder our movement. Or, wait, can you get an image of the shape you're imagining? So that I can get what you're thinking more easily?
>>28653047I think shell smash is just smashing guys with your shell, not shedding the shell.>>28653053Here's the most basic form. It could easily be segmented instead of solid piece for added mobility, though that would reduce crushing and bludgeoning resistance some. They're really damn unobtrusive if built right.
>>28653065>I think shell smash is just smashing guys with your shell, not shedding the shell. No, it is a status move that lowers both defenses by one stage for increasing both attacks and speed by 2.
Just had a random thoughtWe need to learn Scald. That move would be real handy
>>28653065Ah, I see. Yes, it'd be best if we could cut the shell into smaller sizes so that it wouldn't be too thick.
>>28653078yeah, I always figured it was just using your shell to smash instead of defend, thus rendering you more damaging and less defensive.
>>28653078In this it might not be, have to ask prof
>>28653080Speaking of moves to learn....Aside from the ice gun, do you guys have any other custom moves we could make up? They're free and seem to depend on the ranking of our trained abilities, so it'd be in our interest to try to make the best use of this freedom.
>>28653083we technically will need to get TWO shells, one to make the vest out of, and one to break the shell into the proper shape to make a vest out of.In fact, it would be entirely wise and prudent to earmark shells entirely for the purpose of producing diamond hard tools and powder for enhanced cutting and working ability of other pokematerials.
>>28653094We'd make quite a bit of cash selling these things to Silph Co., I imagine.
>>28653093Glaciar throw.Build up big chunk of ice, blast it at someone with water.
>>28653093well once we get Ice Fang we could probably combo it with Crossroad Killing because of our claws
>>28653083>>28653094have another example of what it might theoretically be.>>28653108Money or not, it's vital for the progress of humanity against the pokethreat.Getting rich is just a side effect.
>>28653086It is called Shell Break in Japanese. The animation shows a shell over the user and then it breaking out, it is about breaking off your armor and moving faster and (somehow) hitting harder because of it. It is even clearer in the anime apparently.
>>28653119Well, that makes substantially less sense and substantially more DBZs than I had imagined.
>>28653090>>28653119I imagine that Shell Smash would be like taking off the Macho Brace. By smashing the shell, the monster frees itself of its restrictions and can make better use of their natural muscles.>>28653110Crossroad Killing simply lets us hit critical spots, right? So combine that with Feint Attack and Ice Fang, we'd be particularly deadly.
>>28653119Somehow reminds me of the berserk status that some monsters in Monster Hunter go into once you've depleted enough of their health.
>>28653135>Crossroad Killing simply lets us hit critical spots, right? So combine that with Feint Attack and Ice Fang, we'd be particularly deadly. It is a dark type Slash, an attack which is more likely to crit. I assume Prof would allow it to combo like feint attack though, especially with ice fang.
>>28653158OH HEY.How fast can Ice Fang freeze things? If we raise up its rank, I imagine we could use it in conjunction with Water Gun to shoot thousands of tiny ice shards. And depending on how hard they are, we could basically make a pseudo-flak gun.Which would be awesome.
>>28653093Make knives with Ice Shards, leave them embedded in people after using Crossroad Killing. Few things react well to frozen chunks of ice stabbed into them.A palm strike followed by a Water Gun or an Icicle Gun. Stab our claws into something and then flash freeze it, like we do with Ice Shard, leaving a frozen chunk of blood, and possibly other things, in them.Use Water Gun to shoot a lot of short shots in quick succession, get something like a machine gun going from each arm. Freeze the shots if we want for a hail of frozen needles. We really need to learn how to just passively output fucktons of cold, like a permanent Icy Wind centered on us. It'd be useful as hell, especially if we can get it snowy in there so we can activate Snow Veil. We don't need sight as much as a lot of things, we can get by with our hearing and smell so snow-blind conditions are pretty alright for us.Set up an Icy Wind swirling around us, keep on adding little frozen needles to the mix with Ice Shards, I want a little tornado of razor sharp ice. Not as much a custom move as something good to do, throw out Icy Wind as we spray something down with Water Guns in order to coat it in a layer of frost.
>>28653182>Make knives with Ice Shards, leave them embedded in people after using Crossroad Killing. Few things react well to frozen chunks of ice stabbed into them.Another good idea. We could use Feint Attack, Crossroad Killing, and Ice Shard to pin down a dangerous enemy by its vitals to the ground. It wouldn't even be able to get out without hurting itself further.
>>28653182>We really need to learn how to just passively output fucktons of cold, like a permanent Icy Wind centered on us. >>28653182upgrading Icey wind will eventually become blizzard, but what we need is Hail.
>>28653199Snow Warning seems like something that would be isolatable to a single typing in the pokemon. Like how we thought about removing water from seel/dewgong, and keeping the ice. We might as well just learn how to use Hail though.
we really should be putting XP points into frostiness and beaminess in the future. We've gotten our generalist training out of the way.
Wish we knew what the Gym Leaders and Elite 4 were capable of. Just so we'd have something to compare our ideas to.
>>28653093Combine Snarl and Nasty Plot if we can, intimidate the enemy while planning ways to eviscerate them. >>28653196We have Fuschia HtH training so we're pretty much a ninja, we might be able to create knives with Ice Shards as we're moving to stab people. Just constantly replenish our knife supply and leave them buried in the enemy. I wonder if we can make them barbed. If so then we can rip them out of whatever we stab and cause even more damage. It'd be interesting to work with Janine, we attach her string to barbed knives, stab something with a pile of them, and then she pulls them taut and fucks with its movement.Get our hands in contact with something and flash freeze it. We don't even need much force, just contact. This can be added to a lot of other stuff, like Water/icicle gunning things at point blank range.Feint Attack into Frost Breath is a very solid melee option if we don't mind killing our target.
>>28653250>I wonder if we can make them barbed. If so then we can rip them out of whatever we stab and cause even more damage.I imagine that with higher ranks, we'd be capable of just that.Although for capture missions, we'll want to stick with making as little damage as possible, if at all. Alexis, Grumpy (I assume he'd be capable of putting monsters to sleep by now), and Senna would be our best candidates for taking down a target without causing any wounds.
>>28653250>Snarlmmm, I was already imagining doing this in tandem with Devon to a recalcitrant investigation subject.bonding?
>>28653271I think lockon will be invaluable for us doing capture missions without capture specialized teammates.A bit of water in the face followed by a freeze leads to suffocation. Then we can break or melt it off when the thing is unconscious.
>>28653282Oh yes. We'd be bad cop. And badder cop.
>>28653304I think we should be bad cop, hug cop, and brain-reading cop.Play to the strengths of the teammembers.
>>28653304"I'm sure you've already noticed my..." flex fingers "hands are quite cold. But do you happen to recognize the implants on my comrade here? Ever heard of Houndoom? It's breath is likened to hellfire. The pain of such a burn... never goes away."also, we need to work on quick attack to the point it is combo-able
>>28653350I wonder if we could merge Feint Attack and Quick Attack together? I know Prof already said higher ranks of Feint Attack would lead to quicker attackss, but I assume that just meant we'd be more efficient with our movements?
Finally caught this thread after workI started picturing grumpy, bruise and other characters as having their own set of players running them and it cracked me upThings like grumpy having his players complain about GM bullshit waifuing cerulean with her ridiculous unbeatable DC hugs and special snowflake having all those implantsOr bruise rolling to fake drowning and then rolling to see who ends up giving him CPR after they decided to go for the kiss
