It's that time of the week again! PJ Witches!Missed past threads? Catch them here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28311828/http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28443098/Twitter: https://twitter.com/MercCommandYou are Captain WILLIAM PIERCE, a combat rescue officer of the United States Air Force. You've recently been informed that you're being transferred into a new joint pararescue unit, utilizing both witches and conventional PJs. You're not too sure whether this experiment is going to work or not, but you might as well give it a shot. Not like you've got any other choice. After reviewing your new witches' personnel files, you decide it's finally time to meet them in person. You check in with one of the operations officers, who is thankfully helpful enough to inform you that Janice and Tarin were currently not on patrol and were probably where most of the on base witches were stationed at.You weren't exactly too enthusiastic about venturing back there, considering what had happened the other day. You REALLY didn't want to cause another fuss with a certain Colonel you had the misfortune of meeting...>Let's go find Janice>Let's go find Tarin>Let's go find Red>Other
>>28569583>Let's go find TarinIf her file is anything to go by, she's the one that's least likely to fuck something up that shouldn't be. Best to get her Spec. Ops. standard passive acknowledgement and then grab the other.
>>28569583>Let's go find Tarinlets go deal with the damaged good now
>>28569583>Let's go find Tarin
>>28569583>Let's go find TarinHa! Again I get home from the movies on a Friday night and there's a PJ thread.
Rolled 2, 9, 11, 17, 20 = 59>>28569583>Find redShe can help us call over the other witches so we dont need to go there again.

>>28569583>>Let's go find Tarin
>>28569583You decide to try and find Tarin. Judging from her file, she'd probably be the one that would give the most trouble, not though any sort of behavioral issue, but it was hard to trust somebody with so many redactions in their file, especially when it came to a witch. Again, you find yourself on very familiar ground as you make your way over to the knot of buildings typically reserved for the witches. You briefly wonder how you're going to approach this. You could just throw caution to the wind and just go in through the front door, Macleod be damned, or you could try and be sneaky and try to go through one of the back or side entrances. Though it was normal policy to keep those entrances locked, you learned from Lucky a while back that more than a few witches kept them unlocked for their "partners".>You've got nothing to hide. Go in from the front.>Discretion is the better part of valor. Go in from the back.>Other

>>28570000>Nothing to hide.We jump into freezing waters as part of our job to save lives. Magical girls don't got shit on that (except maybe Ice and that tempurature control shit she has).
What are the odds of running into Witches named Heloise and Sam?
>>28570000>>You've got nothing to hide. Go in from the front. Here on legit business. Mugtits is gonna have to accept that.Should have got Red first, guys. She could escort us around with territory mostly unmolested.
>>28570099Heloise is low. Sam, as a common American name, is less so. But Merc has repeatedly stated he sticks Tarin in basically everything he writes. So, if there is a Sam, she likely wont be the VMQ Sam at all.
>>28570151I was making a joke about the Tarin expy being in this.

>>28570000You take a deep breath and march your way through the front door. You were a Captain and a combat rescue officer of the United States Air Force. You were taught ever since you were born not to give in to fear, whether it be from witches or mortal men.Thankfully for you, at this time of the day, it looked as if most of the witches were either out on patrol or at least out of the building, as it looks relatively empty. A quick query with the receptionist at the front desk tells you witch floor and room Tarin is staying at, and you have the foresight to ask for Janice's room as well. With this new information in hand, you walk over to the elevators and hit the UP button. As you casually wait, you a couple of witches pass by, and you can feel more than a few pairs of eyes staying steady on you as they pass. Whether they were just plain curious or were actually checking you out, you weren't sure and it was probably better that it stayed that way.All the while, Colonel Kelsey's little joke gift kept jingling in your pocket, as if it sensed your predicament."-and let Wilkins know he did a good job. Other than that, I think the current flight schedule is fine.."You freeze as you hear the very familiar voice. Though it wasn't tainted with her anger and bitchiness, you could recognize MacLeod's voice from anywhere now. You take another glance at the elevator's progress. The closest one was on the third floor and moving down. Just a few more seconds...>Your ancestors fought at Bunker Hill, the Alamo, and Bastogne. They stood their ground and so shall you!>NOPE>Other

>>28570334>>28570334Your ancestors fought at Bunker Hill, the Alamo, and Bastogne. They stood their ground and so shall you! You take a deep breath, stand up a bit straighter, and and stiffen up your shoulders a little, as if you were back in boot camp. Instead of standing to face Macleod, however, you remain facing the elevator door, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Hopefully she wouldn't notice you.You can hear the footsteps grow louder until you can hear them passing to your right. You hope that they'll just continue and you'd avoid an unnecessary confrontation, until the footsteps stop."You go on ahead, Chris, I something else to take care of." You hear Macleod say.Crap."Sure thing, Holly." You hear the other witch respond and she continues down the hall, or at least that what she wanted the both of you to think. You're wary of a pair of eyes peeking from around the corner."What are you doing here, Pierce?" Macleod asks you sternly."Just waiting for the elevator, ma'am." Your respond coolly, not taking your eyes off the elevator door."I can see that." Macleod sighs. "But I do seem to recall that I ordered you not to show your face here again the other day.""Official Air Force business." You reply succinctly. "I have the orders on me right now.""If that's the case, you can always send a runner. That's what they're for." Macleod says coolly, as if she's trying to keep her temper in check.>You have a point there.>As a CO of my own unit I'm obligated to meet my people in person.>Other

Do Air Force officers have to go through an annual performance review? What about witches? Will she get an earful from the Air Force brass/matrons who feel that they are being left behind by the Navy and Army combined units, and she's deliberately sabotaging their efforts to catch up?
>>28570831I hope so
>>28570651"As a CO of my own unit I'm obligated to meet my people in person." You respond, narrowing your eyes. "I'm sure you would recognize the value in that, COLONEL." Macleod was definitely starting to simmer now. "You have ten seconds to get your ass out that door, CAPTAIN." She puts equal emphasis on your rank as you did hers. You also see her familiar manifest, as sign that she was activating her powers. Then you hear a DING as the elevator finally opens up behind you.>Retreat and fight another day.>Hold position!>Find a way to distract her and get into the elevator.>Other

>>28571156the lazy bastard needs to get to back to work!
>>28570897Well, you didn't come all this way for nothing, and you figure that you're not going to get anywhere just staying down here arguing with Macleod. She was far too stubborn to give any sort of ground. So, you figure you might as well force the issue. "I"d love to stay, Colonel, but I really need to be going. The elevator's won't stay open forever!" You say, quickly stepping backward into the open elevator cab. At the same time, you pull your transfer orders out listing you and your unit members, with a very large and clear General's signature on them and drop them into Macleod's arms. "Official Air Force business and all!"Macleod looks like she's literally about to explode when her second in command, Chris finally reappears and slides her way in between the both of you."Come on, Holly, it's not worth getting a court marshal over. CROs are hard enough to come by as it is. Don't you still have a lot of paperwork to finish in the office?" Macleod's face briefly shows a bit of surprise and betrayal, and she visibly sags, her momentum lost."Fine, just... keep an eye on him, Chris. Sexual harassment complaints just add to my workload."With that, Macleod stomps off, her mood probably soured for the rest of the day. You see her reading over the orders you handed to her, and you're sure Colonel Kelsey is going to get another angry call. You just sigh and hit the button for the 2nd floor. All this trouble for a freaking elevator ride. You see Macleod's XO standing next to, though the blonde witch's casual stance suggested she probably wasn't as tight on regulations as her CO was.You could also swear she had breasts even larger than Macleod's if that was even possible. You try not to stare and keep your eyes glued to the elevator door. "You know, she's not as bad as everyone makes her out to be." Chris sighs as she walks alongside you. "And while most people see cool shit and explosions and heroism, all Colonel Macleod can see is tragedy. Personal accounts of joint wings taking off, with only the witches coming back, the Forrestal Fire, heck, just recently one of the Navy joint wings was put combat ineffective after losing ONE pilot. She cares, she really does. She's just really REALLY horrible at trying to get that across.""Yeah, that's pretty obvious." You nod, and try to lighten up the now heavy mood. "So uh, what exactly are the chances of me getting sexually assaulted by her?""Ha! You've been reading too many comics!" Chris breaks out in stitches. "Believe it or not, you don't really have to fear anything from the Colonel on that front. I'm pretty sure she's already accounted for.""Wait... what.. really!?" You blink."You're just going to have to take my word for it!" Chris winks. "Besides, there's other witches you should be more afraid of, and that little rape whistle won't help you then!"She then smacks the pocket you were keeping the rape whistle in, which happened to be your back pocket as well."Hey, that's not funny!""Then you shouldn't have come in here alone!" Chris says in a hushed tone, as if she were uttering the True Name of some sort of monster."But witches have fought each other for generations." You blink. "How's that a problem?""Besides some exceptional cases, witches, no matter what nationality, have pretty tight matriarchal bonds." Chris explains. But her records are sealed and she won't say anything on the matter, so what are other witches supposed to think?""I see." You nod. "Thanks for letting me know."You then open the door, and are met with an extremely sparse and spartan room. All you see is a bed, a table, and travel bag. Sitting at the table, meticulously polishing a kukri, is Lieutenant Tarin Richards."Lieutenant Richards?" You ask."Present." She says, snapping to attention and saluting you."I was wondering if you were aware that you are being transferred into a joint unit." You continue."I do." Tarin nods. "I received the orders this morning. You must be Captain Pierce, then.""That's correct." You nod. You ask."I can manipulate my shield to bend light around myself. "Yeah, it's one of my more favored melee weapons.""Those aren't exactly standard issue. How did you get one?" You ask."Oh, pretty simple actually." Tarin shrugs. "I was part of an adviser team in India when we got a call that a squad of Gurkhas ran into a Pakistani patrol. They had a lot of casualties and they were too high up for a helo to reach them. So, I just loaded up in my striker and pulled them off the mountain.""Wait..." You frown. "You mean to tell me you flew out an entire squad of Gurkhas off a mountain one by one?" You blink."Twos at first. It was more efficient." Tarin shrugs. "Like I said, standard rescue op. Then, once I pull the last guy off, they make this big deal about it and gave me this kukri. Oh, and I think they might have made me an honorary Gurkha, but I'm not sure. My Nepalese isn't too good."Well, that was certainly a story. You guess you don't have to worry about putting Tarin through demanding environments, then."Thanks, I think that's all I need to know for now." You nod. Everybody just calls her that."After another short elevator ride, Chris leads you down a different hallway into what seems like a small dining area, and you remember that the witches have their own separate dining facilities. It's not exactly a dining hour so the room was pretty empty, but you can hear clinking and clanking from the kitchen area. You and Chris step inside and you see a relatively tall witch with long brown hair at the sink, busy cleaning dishes and humming a tune to herself."Yo! Raker! How are things going?" Chris says happily."Ah! Chris! I would have thought you'd be with Holly!" Janice beams and turns to you. "And you must be Captain Pierce, correct? Janice narrows her eyes, but her smile doesn't falter. However, you get that sense that this is probably something you shouldn't bring up again. Thinking quickly, you decide to change subjects."So, how did you get the name 'Raker', anyways?""Oh, well..." Janice blushes a bit. "The story is a bit embarrassing, actually.""Come on, we're all comrades here, right?" You shrug. "Well," Janice sighs, "it was during training. I was participating in a MOUT exercise. Actually, there's one time I remember, back before the war started. When I was just a lieutenant, we were doing some joint training with some Marines down in Camp Pendleton. A couple of them said some not so flattering things about the PJs within earshot of our captain, so we uh, snatched them from their barracks, duct taped them to our helo's refueling boom, and took them for a joyride over San Diego Bay for about half an hour."At that point, Chris breaks out in raucous laughter, and even Janice lets loose with a giggle or two. "Anyways we lucked out a bit since the two Marines were too embarrassed to admit they got jumped by 'Chair Force' and didn't report it. I don't even want to imagine the administrative shitstorm that would have happened if it got out. But the point is, even the best do stupid shit sometimes, so you shouldn't beat yourself up over it.""It's certainly an interesting story." Janice nods. "I hope we'll get to share more later on, but if you excuse, I need to finish cleaning up the kitchen. The girls always leave behind such a mess...""Oy, Raker, you don't have to do that, you know." Maybe I should convince Holly to transfer us to Germany too...""Well, good luck with that." Red sighs."Well then you make sure to tell me and we can give whoever did that a ride on the fuel boom express.""Thanks, Cap." Red smiles. "Actually... one more thing.""Yeah?""Can... can you teach me how to open the door like that?">And that's it for tonight, folks! I actually might run the next thread tomorrow. Hopefully suptg will stop being broken so I can actually get this thread archived!

>>28575103Oh my... What could it be~
>>28575103(this all takes place after SW89 thread 14)Spellcaster Three, callsign "Warhound", went Missing in Action twenty four hours ago. Depending on who described it, it was the most dramatic final stand anyone had ever witnessed in the sky, or it was execution of a desperate, rabid dog. Colonel Holly "Eagle" MacLeod sighed, looking through a stack of after-action reports. Every surviving USAF witch had turned in their own unique account of the now world-famous air battle over the Tanana pocket, more than enough reading material to last the Colonel several days, if she poured over it with the attention to detail that was expected of her. There was one set of reports that was missing: Spellcaster Squadron, the squids of VF-3. 'I knew this would happen,' MacLeod thought bitterly. 'We all heard the same goddamned stories. A whole wing of witches, combat ineffective over one man. Musta been a really special kind of asshole to pull that off.'It was so...stupid. That was the best way to describe it. USAF had learned these lessons decades ago, how could the Navy ignore it? Did their brass have an inkling of what those girls were likely going through? She didn't even like their bitchy little ice queen CO, but Holly had seen the look on the woman's face when she'd returned from the fight, sans that cocky little fucker and his ridiculous black Tomcat. She took no pleasure in being right. How dare he die before she could pay him back. MacLeod was well aware of what people thought of her, but if there was one thing she knew was among the myriad descriptions that could be applied, it was that she never left debts unpaid. Whether it was skill or luck on his behalf, the deceased Frank Bishop had managed to save her from a persistent Flanker-C during a particularly intense dogfight. He'd even acknowledged her sincere thanks at the time professionally, despite the bad footing his assignment to Elemdorf had gotten off to. Probably did it to piss her off.
>>28575194'I still need those reports,' Holly thought, feeling rather sad for a moment. Despite being a Steelwing pilot, Frank Bishop had been a model officer of the United States Navy to the bitter end, and she couldn't take that away from him. He'd fought and died for his witches, even made certain that his tiny pixie of a RIO had survived. There was a harsh knock at her office door, and before Holly could answer, a tall brunette opened the door and strode inside. "Colonel MacLeod, Lt. Rachel Kerner reporting. I'm here with VF-3's after-action reports." "Go ahead and set 'em down on my desk, Kerner." Holly winced slightly at the tone of her own voice, but it was too late to take that back. "Sorry they're late ma'am." Her salute was crisp, professional, and stank of the intense desire to be anywhere else but that office. "Where's Commander Kazanski?" "Indisposed at the moment, ma'am." There were bags under Kerner's eyes, suggesting an extreme lack of sleep. For a moment, Holly swore she could see the witch tottering on her feet. "I see." Resting her chin on her hands, the Colonel looked out the window to her office as a pair of F-16Cs roared down the primary runway. Another CAS mission for the pocket, no doubt. "I'm...uh, sorry." "Ma'am?" "He was a fine pilot. I wish I'd known him better." Holly cleared her throat. "I am sorry that things turned out this way." "Not as much as we are ma'am, but thank you." Kerner blinked rapidly before turning on her heel and reaching for the door. "Lieutenant?" "Yes ma'am?" Her voice was trembling. "Is...Spellcaster combat ineffective?" A long silence passed before Rachel could answer. "Yes, Colonel, we are." "Thank you for your honesty. Dismissed." Wordlessly, Rachel power-walked out of the office, not even closing the door behind her. Holly stood up from her seat, closed the door herself, locked it, and leaned against it.
>>28575229With a snarl, she whirled around and punched the door. The solid metal construction bent badly out of its frame. There was a concerned yelp from her wingwitch in the office next door, but Holly shoo'd the younger woman off. Everything was fine, just a little frustrated over paperwork, like always. Ha ha. 'I was right. I was always right. Joint units are a mistake. What's happening over there just isn't fucking acceptable.' She really, really hated Frank Bishop. There was a special circle of hell for men like him, she was absolutely certain, and if there was any justice in this world he'd burn there for all eternity. - Several hours passed, and Eagle found herself engrossed with Spellcaster's reports, so engrossed that she hadn't noticed the Sergeant from Maintenance working on pulling her ruined door off of its hinges until he promised to be back with a replacement before the day was out. Despite her disagreement with that squadron's arrangement, they'd clearly been in the thick of it, just like any proper USAF witch would have been. There'd been some initial doubt with some of the reports, particularly from that Red witch, Katya. She'd been at Frank Bishop's side nearly the entire battle, and her account of Warhound's last desperate charge into the heart of a Flanker swarm read closer to something out of an action movie. There were enough reports from witches outside of the Spellcasters who could corroborate what she'd written, though. She felt herself getting angrier and angrier at this Frank Bishop. She could see a clear reverence his squadronmates felt for him in their written words, and her brief encounter with Kerner still played itself over and over in her mind. She'd just picked up a report from a Lt. Dominica Rand before a polite knock on her empty door frame interrupted her thoughts.
>>28575306"Punching solid metal slabs again?" Colonel Gillian "Grenadine" Rogers asked, an amused smile spreading across her face. She didn't wait for permission to enter. letting herself into the office, all but crashing into an empty seat opposite of MacLeod, kicking her feet onto the desk. She was the CO of the 807th Strike Witches Squadron "Manaburner", specializing in the Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses. "Steelwing pissed me off. Oughta know better, really." Holly blushed. Yeah, it had been childish of her, she didn't need an old Academy acquaintance coming in to lecture about it. "Good to see you to, Grenadine. You here to laugh at me?" "I might now. You get mad too easily." "How would you feel if someone in your command was rendered combat ineffective because their boytoy got killed?" "Not sure..." Grenadine pursed her lips in thought. "Sympathetic, I guess?" "A whole Navy squadron was declared Combat Ineffective to me by their XO today, apparently their glorious commander couldn't even do it herself because she's a simpering wreck." Holly pounded her desk angrily. "I mean come ON, Gilly. If that's not a case for keeping Steelwings away from my girls, I don't know what is. The Navy is crazy-" Her rant was cut short when she saw Gillian turning a shade of red that matched her long red braid of hair she was now playing with as she squirmed in her seat. "Something up?"
>>28575341"Probably not the best time to tell you this then," Gillian muttered. "Huhwhuh?" Holly blinked. "You know how my squadron's been running joint strikes with Steelwings against Soviet SAM sites that fall in range of the Tanana pocket, right?" "Yeah, the Nine Nine Two. How is it running SEAD with those 16's? Are they slowing you down?" "Good actually!" Grenadine seemed to forget her embarrassment. "Nobody there seems to have problems working with us sparkles. Wish I could carry HARMS." She rolled her eyes as Holly's expression twisted into a sneer. "You're like a picky eater. Try it sometime, you just might like it." "I've seen what it does to witches, no thanks." She pointed at one of the reports, from Lt. Patricia Mitchell. "God, this one had to cross out 'Big brother's gone' from her paperwork. You don't think that's cause for some concern?" "Maybe?" "Maybe?!" "Manaburner's not in a joint wing yet," Grenadine said calmly, taking on the almost motherly tone that she knew Holly hated. "Their circumstances are clearly different from ours, you should consider that before making judgements." "I don't wanna see another witch come into this office with the look that el-tee had again, Gillian. Even if it's you." "I like you too, MacLeod." "Bah, you always were a bit soft-" the insult died on her lips as a light suddenly flicked on inside her head. "Go back to 'not in a joint wing yet.' Explain that." "We're not in a joint wing yet." "Yet?" "I was offered a Steelwing squadron of my choice to work with, and the Centurions have done nothing but impress me. Colonel Wolcott and myself put in a formal request this morning." She frowned as she saw the look of betrayal from Holly. "That's good. You ever think of being an actress?" "After what I just told you?" MacLeod almost shouted.
>>28575389"Manaburner isn't Spellcaster." "We all went through the same history books in school! Joint wings get Steelwings and witches too attached, and when things go wrong, and they WILL GO WRONG-" "MacLeod." Grenadine stood from her chair, leaning over the desk to get in Holly's face. "You might be the Wing Commander, but your logic is incorrect ma'am. We've had mixed units in the past and they did fine. If you'd drop the misandry for ONE second in your life, you might stop ignoring historical precedence in favor of your agenda." "Spellcaster's CO said the same thing to me when they got assigned here, and now she's probably curled up in a corner somewhere bawling her eyes out while we still need witches AND Steelwings running constant CAP for the pocket and this base!" Unable to maintain the staring contest with Grenadine, Holly looked away, growing more upset by the second. "Are you willing to see that sort of thing happen to your girls? Things are bad enough as is! I don't hate men, I don't even hate Steelwings, I respect the hell out of them, but I want them away from my girls!" Grenadine held her fellow Colonel under a glare for a few long moments before she sighed and sat back down. "I'm just trying to minimize risk," Holly said quietly. "That's all." "We're getting shot at either way." "I know." MacLeod stared at the Spellcaster reports. "I guess reading these has worn me down. I do get upset too easily, don't I?" "You wouldn't if you didn't care," Grenadine offered. "I respect that, but you're wrong this time." "I hope so." Holly could feel a headache coming on, and hoped it would go away soon. She was up for a patrol in another hour.
>>28575415Alright, that's it for part 1. Lemme know what you guys think! The next part will appear hopefully when Merc runs next.
>>28575471I do believe I speak for vast majority of the people that have or will read this when I say... moar. Well done, sir.I still think she's a bitch, but at least respect her a little bit. Part two better have the mug.
>>28575471how long until MacLeod joins the pack of wolves hungering for Frank?I liked it.
>>28575471Thanks for the writing!
>>28575471Kind of hard to believe nobody's AAR stated that Fronk dove in to protect CAS birds.I CAN believe that Bitchtits would ignore or dismiss such a thing, but I can't see why you didn't mention it.Other than that, it was okay. Is it canon?
>>28575471I thought it was pretty good, well done sir.
>>28575389>from Lt. Patricia Mitchell. "God, this one had to cross out 'Big brother's gone' from her paperwork.Mav was little sister-tier?
>>28575519>Is it canon?You bet.
>>28575519I didn't mention it because I honestly forgot to write it in. My bad!>>28575552She thinks of Frank as a brother, and I think she's even said as much somewhere. We never talked to her directly in Ice Quest, but I like to think she was pretty messed up over things, especially in private. They all were, though.
>>28575519>Kind of hard to believe nobody's AAR stated that Fronk dove in to protect CAS birds. He kinda did. She isn't overlooking it at all.>Depending on who described it, it was the most dramatic final stand anyone had ever witnessed in the sky, or it was execution of a desperate, rabid dog.He doesn't have to specifically mention it.
>>28575614>CAS birdsNot mentioned.
>>28575634Rand & Rudel's reports are mentioned, they were the CAS birds
>>28575634Not *specifically*, but it's implied. She's not deliberately overlooking them.
>>28575674I'm not seeing it.Also, someone archive?
>>28575694It is in a line near the end of a post:>>28575306>She'd just picked up a report from a Lt. Dominica Rand before a polite knock on her empty door frame interrupted her thoughts. But yeah, I probably should have put greater emphasis on that.
