Always go for Silent Hill. All three carry a solid chance of horrible death, but with SH you're either buried by your issues or you get over them. I'd take a chance at Russian Roulette for some true peace of mind.
>>28516649Wait to see dinosaurs. Then go to Silent Hill. What's it going to make monsters about? Me being teased as a kid? My cat or grandparents dying?
>>28516649Walk forward through the sign and forest. No ones the boss of me
>>28516649Racoon city. Best chances of survival, and if it gets too bad and I fail to escape, it gets wiped off the map so I will no longer care. Silent Hill will be a living nightmare, hinizawa syndrome will result in my death and Dinos are bigger than me.
>>28516701While that's true, doesn't it seem weird that the town makes you go through so much conventional combat before solving your emotional problem?
>>28516752Maybe, but it's purgatory. Suffering's gotta go with the territory, it's gotta make your issues manifest to overcome them, and you're never thrown against things you can't defeat or avoid.
>>28516752No one said the town was a nice psychiatrist.
>>28516701But what about Silent Hill during a Dino Crisis?
>>28516649Racoon City. That can't be Raccoon City, so I'm good.
>>28516752It has to properly stress you out, before your emotional troubles really come out. Plus, they got a package deal on pounds of flesh from hell, and it's either use it or lose it, so...
>>28516709Oh hey buddy, you look lost.
>>28516815You got nothing Slenderman. I can take like 5 chewpurcabra. You are nothing.
>>28516815Oi, you! This is our spot, and we're not going to let you muscle in on it!
>>28516709You find pic related after going through the forest.
>>28516917What happens if I go AROUND Don'tgonearthee Castle?
Hinamizawa. If I can get in with the main cast, there'll be at least one iteration of the cycle where I'll survive.
>>28516950A super happy fun place with no abnormally high numbers of Violence and suicide, and no parasitic organisms what so ever.
>>28516950Higurashi town. Best way I could tl;dr it is getting stuck in a rural village plagued by a madness curse that makes people kill each other.
>>28516945You'll have to pass through Crystal Lake.
>>28517067Crystal Lake is no doozy, you just have to keep moving and not have sex with anything.
>>28517086I didn't say it was the wrong choice.
>>28516649I love that you can see that pic has seen different iterations to counter the typical smartass answers.
>>28516649on of these should say DetroidI would say Silent Hill, I wonder what my deep and hidden fears are
>>28517098So, say we get out of Crystal Lake alive. What then?
>>28517134You find yourself on the slopes of Red Mountain.
>>28517146There's a lot of Red Mountains in fiction. Which one is it?
Seems like even if you avoid raccoon city the infection spreads everywhere and causes the apocalypse anyways. Might as well skip all the unnecessary suffering elsewhere.
>>28517146And the Amigara Fault's just opened up. Drrr Drrrr Drrr flop flop flop
>>28517134I think you should start getting the picture by then.
>>28517160Don't ask me, I just got directions from the blue-skinned dude on the giant bug.
>>28517171THIS HOLE WAS MADE FOR ME
>>28517171Well I sure do like spaghetti dance-dance-revolution human abonimations
>>28517194>>28517194That's what she said.wait...
>>28517194GASHUNK GASHUNK GASHUN-oh, wrong Ito manga, I'll just GASHUNK the other way. Sorry!
>>28517165Hopefully, the dinosaurs have thick enough skin to keep from being infected by the regular T-Virus zombies, and the more violent G-Virus monsters and medical experiments will stay in their death-holes. If Birkin tries to crash his way into the rest of the world, the various locales and their supernatural influences (The Shadow, the entirety of Silent Hill, and Jason's soul) would boil away his searching tendrils. It's like the Paladins always say, evil is inherently destructive to evil.
As a horror game fan, Hinamizawa.Hordes of zombies is a shitty deal, so no Raccoon City.Silent Hill I guess probably has the highest chance of survival, strangely enough. As long as we aren't fighting any bullshit Silent Hill 3 bosses where everything is huge and takes a billion hits.Hinamizawa might end in death but at least the descent into madness will be fun, also Mion is my waifu so.Mah fate is sealed.
Silent hill.I'm more terrifying than the shit there.
>>28517540>I'm more terrifying than the shit there. That statement is paradoxical.
>>28517540But, the shit there is taken directly from your thoughts and imagination. Unless you're an Ace Dick-level idiot with no imagination whatsoever.
>>28517618In which case, you'll probably just end up getting raped by a clone of yourself in a wig.Which is pretty horrific, considering what the average /tg/ poster looks like.
The hell is Hinamizawa?
>>28517761NOTHING.EVERYTHING IS FINE.BE CALM. BE HAPPY.
>>28517761A village from a horror visual novel that is cursed. People go mad and paranoid, and end up killing eachother.
>>28517540>I'm more terrifying than the shit there. You mean that you're more terrifying than what you've seen there so far, which is the personal hells of others. Of course they would not have the same effect on you. Once YOU actually go there, it will be YOUR personal hell. And you can't just be so badass it doesn't effect you, because then it wouldn't be hell.
>>28517865Is that a Taken? Wrong game, man!
>>28517884...the fuck is a Taken? I found that image searching for Wendigo pics.
>>28517906Why were you looking for wendigo pics?
>>28517859Why do they?
>>28517865>can't just be so badass it doesn't effect you, because then it wouldn't be hell.Well, it depends what your psyche is like. Everyone we've seen go in there had some kind of crippling emotional trauma bubbling just underneath the surface. A well adjusted person with no psychological problems or traumas could potentially chill out there no big deal.
>>28517906You're knowledgable of Stephen King's work, right? A game developer made a sort of parody of that stuff called Alan Wake, where an intelligent and most certainly HANDSOME writer gets trapped in a rural village by the shadowy manifestation of his creative works. He'd evidently planned on writing a novel about a black shadow taking over people's bodies and minds, and having them attack people.
>>28517985Like James Sunderland did, before the..."Incident."
>>28517985>A well adjusted person with no psychological problems or traumasThis person does not exist.
>>28517990>Alan Wake>A parody>Not a completely straight, massive tonguing of Kings fat, sweaty balls.
>>28517985Yeah, but what the hell is Silent Hill to normal people?
>>28517944You mean there are people who don't? Why wouldn't you?>>28517985Well adjusted people don't end up in Silent Hill in the first place as far as I can tell.>>28517990Oh, I've heard of that game. Thought it was based on a King novel.
>>28518019Nothing. It's not there at all.
>>28518017At least American Nightmare was pretty satirical.
>>28518019A completely unassuming resort town.
>>28516649Well, I look nothing like Milla Jovovich, so Raccoon City can't possibly benefit me.Silent Hill might resolve my hitherto unknown mental issues, or might just retcon my life into some amnesiac orphan shit and it turns out I killed my whole family when I was nine.Hinamizawa will probably be the most traumatic, but as long as I stick to the main cast like glue, I'll become important enough to the plot to get caught in the time looping, and thus get to share in the Good End.
>>28518187Why would you need pictures of a Native American folklore cannibal for ERP reasons?
>>28516805Damn that rule! Doesn't hell know how to run a business?
I FLY STRAIGHT UP.
>>28518205If you have to ask, you'll never know
>>28518241Oh, I get it. It's either poorly thought-out vore, or a complete misunderstanding of Native American folklore. Say no more, both are equally adhorrable.
>>28518266It could be both...
>>28518213Dude. meat spoils, regardless of how long it's been stewing in bodily fluids and molten gold. Did you ever see a metamorphoric monster made out of stale or rotten parts? No, it'd fall apart the minute its victim started thinking! Maybe it'd get in some threatening gurgling, but any more and you're looking at a wasted purchase.
>>28518266Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought that wendigos were shamman-types that believed they could take something's form and/or power by consuming the thing's flesh. How off-base am I?
>>28516649FUCK YOU SIGNI IDLE WHERE I DAMN WELL PLEASE
>>28518399Wendigos are footless, lipless, eyeless hunger spirits formed when someone turns to cannibalism out of desperation then dies anyway. They roam the wilds consuming any human they can get their bloody hands on.
>>28518399Very off-base. The Wendigo, depending on the story being told, is either a half-demonic poltergeist that craves human flesh and will forcibly take control of human bodies to eat it, or a creature transformed into a human, also craving human flesh. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WendigoWhat you might be thinking of 'taking something's form' is due to the common belief that people became wendigos if they consumed human flesh willingly.
Silent Hill, obviously. If I have some repressed personal problems, I have the chance to face them and come out a better person. If not, I spend a few days chilling in a cozy resort town.
>>28518520Of course, you also have the chance to be horribly raped to death.
>>28518480>>28518490Wow, that's even cooler than I thought it was. I'm always slightly taken aback at how, for lack of a better term, how utterly "metal" Native American (both North and South) mythologies are. I mean, as an American, I always seem to hear the most about how badass the Norse gods were, but there are some truly amazing stories right under our collective noses that our culture just doesn't seem to care about. At any rate, thanks for setting me straight guys.
>>28518550Rape isn't very common, even in Silent Hill 2 and 3. Really, you either get eaten, suffocated, or beaten to death.
I'm lucky, I found a little road that wasn't indicated by the sign.
>>28516701I'd go with Silent Hill because I'm so fucking beta, the town will turn peaceful and unthreatening just by having me there.
>not just lifting back off in the helicopter you arrived in.It's like you people don't even WANT to survive.
>>28518562It's even cooled how they lost all those body parts. They lost their eyes to frostbite, because they would never blink. They lost their lips by chewing them constantly until they consumed them outright. They lost their feet because they run so fucking fast their frostbitten toes would shatter.
>>28518550>>28518568>Rape isn't very commonSeriously, the ONLY reason SH2 had all the rape is because the protag was full of repressed sexual desire since his wife was dead and he couldn't bring himself to move on. Unless you have similar issues there's no reason your Silent Hill would feature Pyramid Head or sexy bodied nurses.
>>28518562Pretty much all folklore is full of metal stuff.
>>28518603You crash in the Arklay mountains and come across a mansion.
>>28518550Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that only happens if you don't overcome your personal problems. As I recall, Eddie and Angela only died because they never got over their baggage, unlike James, hence why they died and James never got killed by PHead. It really comes down to your ability to better yourself as a person.Of course, Silent Hill only seemed to take in extreme cases in the past. I'm not a murderer and I'm not horribly traumatized by anything, so I haven't got much to worry about. Probably.
>>28518620>>28518568I was more referring to rape in the general, "you're fucked" sense rather than the literal. But that can happen too, I guess.
>>28518620>Unless you have similar issuesThis is 4chan.
>>28518603The helecopter pilot succumbs to the infection. You find yourself alone outside a sugar mill.A storm is coming. You hear someone crying.
>>28518620>/tg/>Not full of repressed sexual desireNigga have you SEEN what people here get off to?
Turn back around through Hinamizawa. I'd just roll up the windows and stop through nothing, if I drove through there before, an second time should work ok.Then Silent Hill, with the same technique. It's only when idiots stop to investigate something do they get trapped there.Raccoon city would be last choice, because the streets are impassible with blockades and wrecked cars and lord knows whatever else.
>>28518657Which means we don't have a wife who died at our hands.
>>28518665>What they get off toRight, they're getting off. It is therefor NOT repressed. They're fapping it up, not getting blue balls. Granted there's probably a SIlent Hill experience for that, but my point stands.
>>28518676Right, just hoards of beautiful but faceless, completely unattainable women who mock, demean and destroy you as you desperately flail in your search for companionship. Also, they probably have teeth in their cooch or acid slime or something like that going on.
>>28518672Dunno about Hinamizawa, but>Silent Hill>Thinking your car wouldn't mysteriously stop working>Come to think of it, like James' did
>>28518603It was a Resident Evil helicopter pilot. It can get you there at the beginning, but no getting away without crashing.
>>28518705It didn't stop working. He just chose to stay.He even drove it into the lake in the second best ending.
>>28518663Fuck that, I'm turning around and staying the night at that pretty big house with the gate out front and the funny name. Nothing bad can happen in a place called "Mount Massive", right?
>>28518672> because the streets are impassible>Implying this isnt true of Silent Hill, whose streets were littered with apparently bottomless chasmsYeah okay.
>>28518672>Turn back around through Hinamizawa. I'd just roll up the windows and stop through nothing, if I drove through there before, an second time should work ok.In that case you end up in a quaint little backwater town called Hanuda.
>>28518705James' didn't stop working; the road was blocked off. This is actually pretty neat; it forces the player to go on a pretty long walk, and gives you the feeling that you're entering a very isolated area.
>>28518702But I have no search for companionship.
Straight to Silent Hill.I have a bag of dog treats.
>>28518684Anon, you know it's not the same as actually having a qt monstergirl. If we go to Silent Hill, shit's gonna get weird.
>>28518748>denialthat's the spirit.
>>28518725>>28518739Oh. Been a while since I played. Though yeah, that walk was pretty damn atmospheric. Really built up the tension, too.
>>28518748Oh, of course you don't.Because you've given up. You've internalized your failings and taken the motto of sour grapes to heart.
>>28518775It's like he's begging for the town to love him tenderly.
>>28518748That is for Silent Hill to decide. If you have inner turmoil that shit's going to come out, and you either fix it or you die. If you don't than you're going to a mediocre small town.
>>28518775>>28518792What failings? I've never tried to get a girlfriend.Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying "oh I could get one if I wanted to", I'm sure I couldn't get one even if I tried, but I never have tried.
>>28518792Put that way, whatever the town throws at him is probably gonna be pretty fucked up.
>>28518811>thanmeant to say "then">I'm sure I couldn't get one even if I tried, but I never have tried. So you feel inferior and seek to demean yourself. Self-pity, has there been a Silent Hill game where this was manifested?
>>28518811Not necessarily. You might end up trapped in the therapy of someone else.
>>28518814>I'm sure I couldn't get one even if I triedOh boy, and low self-esteem too. This should be wonderful.
>>28518844What, Shattered Memories style? Anon was dead all along?
>>28518844>Stuck in the purgatory of some 300-lb neckbeard.Just kill me now.
>>28518864It's not like he has guilt or anything. That would get the town horny as hell.
>>28518841I think Eddie in SH2 was facing something about being picked on constantly throughout highschool? I forget how old he was supposed to be, but there was probably self-pity involved. He also had an anger problem, and was violent.>>28518814And now you admit you haven't even swung the bat. That town would have a field day.
>>28518864Knowing your own strengths and weaknesses aren't low self-esteem.
>>28516649>Silent hillMy problems manifest in the form of an elder god>Raccoon CityI get blown up>Endless Murder Fun TimeMaybe
>>28518901>It's not like he has guilt or anything.Hehe, yeah. Guilt sure would get the town going. Especially if it was centered around the relationship you have with your family and your perceived impact on the world at large.I'd have a FUN old time in Silent Hill.
>>28518915What enemies from 2 were manifested from Eddie? I know the Abstract Daddies(Or Doormen, or whatever-the-hell they're called) were from Angela, but were there any enemies definitively from Eddie's psyche?
I would lead as many dinosaurs as I could, into raccoon city.
>HinamizawaAt least I might be able to eat at that restaurant before I'm killed. That'd be cool.
>>28518898No, I mean people like Cybil who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or how Murphy spent the first and last parts of his game walking through other peoples Silent Hill's (I'm convinced that most of the sidequests were set up for the other convicts on that bus, but they all died like chumps before they could get to them.
>>28518920Accepting your weaknesses instead of striving to remove them is a failure often caused by low self-esteem.
>>28518959I don't think any were.Abstract Daddies, if you recall, seemed to appear to Angela as her own father. So that's also something to consider; it seems if your psychological issues tie largely into a person or persons, you'll see some twisted version of them, while another visitor would see them as some abstract monster.
>>28519012Obsessing over becoming perfect isn't a healthy way to live your life.
>>28518959I don't think there were any. I read somewhere once that Eddies Silent Hill was like that one scene from Evil Dead 2 where everything laughs at Ash.
>>28518844Neat scene in SH:Downpour hell-world; the MC falls down a long slide into darkness and you see glimpses of the NPCs running through their own twisted nightmares as you fall past them.
>>28516649Drive into the forest
>>28519054There's a cliff there. On both sides.Whoever designed this road was an idiot.
>>28518959>What enemies from 2 were manifested from Eddie? He didn't actually have any. His "punishment" was to be discovered around brutally-murdered corpses by others. His "treatment" was coming to the realization that the mocking and opinions of others are only as deadly as you make them.
>>28519028What? Constant self-improvement is a great thing to strive for. Even if it's as little as reading a book or learning cross-stitching, there's no excuse to just say "nobody's perfect" as an excuse to be an idiot.
>>28519054During your travel mist appears
>>28519028Accepting weakness leads to stagnation.

>>28519054>You stepped in to the wrong neighborhood, motherfucker.
>>28519146Of course it is.
Hinamizawa. I know it better than the other two, so at least I have a fighting chance of leaving before the disaster strikes, preventing it from happening, or at least having a good time before I die.
>>28519082You don't need to obsess over your perceived flaws to improve yourself.
>>28519181Good thing he's got a car. And headlights. Bright, bright headlights.
>>28519206Pointing in one direction. And all those wonderful trees, anon. So obstructive, so constricting, all those wonderful long shadows.
>>28519222Point. But what safety-conscious motorist would go anywhere without at least a few flares?
>>28519280Or a flashlight.
>>28519280Enjoy your four or five hours of relative safety. The night lasts longer yet.
>>28518915>Hasn't Even swung the batWe need to get Haruko to help him

>>28519307Is the forest four or five hours long?'Cause I'm thinking he could just drive through with the flares strapped to his car.
>>28519307Don't forget the dinosaurs. There could, in all likelihood, be taken dinosaurs in the forest. There could also be T-Virus-Rexs in Raccoon City.
>>28519333Nigga you are just ASKING for a conveniently fallen tree to block you in.
>>28519375It's as though every horror game is happening in this one place.

>>28519431You'd like to think it would be that simple.

>>28519431Oh no, you're not alone. You're never REALLY alone. They're watching you all the time, in fact, in a sort of morbid fascination. They won't let you get a good look though, because then they might have to TALK to the abjectly disgusting freak. No, no, they just watch. And judge. And wait, for the right moment. But for what?
>>28519546>>28519036>>28519077So... What triggers purgatory to shove meat monsters in your general direction if it can get the same effect with non-physical threats?
>>28519480Let's take this all in. We have a majorvVirus outbreak, a psychological torture/therapy dimension hunting for patients/victims, a town where parasite drive people to insane violence that's caught in a time loop, the dark entity taking over people and trying to find an artist who can write it free, and what I can only assume is a third energy experiment gone wrong all occurring in roughly the same area. What else can be added to this complete clusterfuck?
>>28519480And just as soon as you managed to not only kill the TGV Rex AND burn the corpse so it doesn't become a Crimson Head, some asshole named Palethorn recites a long-dead sorcerer named Zaroc's long-lost spellbook, coincidentally JUST as some bitch named Eve sets off her master stroke using viruses and an usual amount of assorted meats! The day just keeps on getting worse, doesn't it?
>>28519575Some people, when faced with a faceless horror, shrug and say "well, that's weird, but at least it doesn't have fucking teeth."Then the meat-things with fucking teeth come in.
>>28519575There's a lot of meat to use, and that shit spoils. Besides, you've got so many of those cute little Larval Stalkers wandering around, you probably have a whole bunch of Infantile Mumblers and Puppy Wormheads sitting around, and it'd just break their wittle heart-analogues if they didn't get the chance to savage someone.
>>28519588Well somebody mentioned Red Mountain, so I suppose that means that the T-Virus is also now Corprus and might result in zombies with magical powers, and also anybody sane you meet is probably a Sleeper waiting to stab you in your sleep and ritually consume your flesh.
>>28516649Silent Hill, my issues are pretty small time so worse case scenario is that I get chased around by monster that look like my mom for like an hour.
>>28519601So be enough of a failure to trigger Silent Hill but not enough of a badass to trigger the fleshpounders and you're in for an unpleasant, but ultimately uplifting experience followed by a short stint in a lame-ass town?
>>28519588It is on Rokkenjima
>>28519590Don't know about this Palethorn guy, but we're adding Parasite Eve on top of all this bullshit?Fuck it, I'm going to Raccoon City to wait for the dawn.
>>28519638It's not a severity thing. It's a physiological thing. If the visceral horror of meat and blood or the primal terror of the chase and mauling are what's going to fuck you up the most, then you get those. If instead you're more likely to curl up into a shattered ball and weep as you're tormented by faceless apparitions that never let you get a look at them, then you get those. Some people are most scared by a specific thing. Some people are more scared specifically by Nothing.
>>28519662You know the plot of Parasite Eve, but not Medievil 2?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIKW3mkjoTs
>>28519590Eve doesn't use a virus, she incites the mitochondria inside everyone to rebel against what she sees as oppression. Ironically, she'd probably hate the various umbrella viruses because I can't imagine what kind of mutations the mitochondria go through when exposed to that crap.
>>28519588>>28519590Oh, and there's also a little girl in a red dress hanging around being creepy and occasionally setting things on fire with her mind.
>>28519687Unfortunately, no. All I ever got to play of Medievil was the demo. Considering how sweet that demo was, I regret that immensely.
>>28519679Well golly gee I'm torn between whether or not I'd get the meat tubes or crushing despair as disembodied voices mock my every waking moment.

>>28519790...New plan. Rather than making the trip to Raccoon City, I'm just gonna head back to Hinamizawa for a while, really breathe in that small-town ambiance, y'know? And THEN, I'll come back. Once I'm HAPPY enough to deal with this shit.
What if going through the woods leads you to The Cube.Or a one-way trip onto the Event Horizon.
>>28519907That might not be such a good idea. Psychosis can only exacerbate the problems in Silent Hill, and there's a good reason you don't see the berserker archetype in zombie plots.
>this whole threadRight, fuck this, I'm just going to go back to that dude with the needles and open the fucking box.
>>28519763I could see Silent Hill getting pissed as these things move into it's territory and start fucking with it's program.

>>28519937Careful, now. I hear that crispy guy with the sweater has some sort of beef with him. At least, that's what some faggot with a girly name told me. Seriously, who names their son "Ashley"? Like, even IF you shorten it to Ash, it's still a wimpy name.
>>28519932No, but at the very least I'll go out screaming like a madman, possibly by my own hand, in a forest full of horrible abominations against human life. Not really sure what my point there was. You might be right. Maybe I should just head to Silent Hill. I seriously doubt my mental issues can create anything NEAR as bad as the shit going on outside of the town.
>>28519881Line up and say cheese you little punks!
>>28519970NOT EVEN DEAD WILL SAVE US NOW.Along with the lovely implication that all the various horrors laying about were, in fact, previously tormented victims. And you're going to end up just like them, one way or another.

>>28520015You only become Hollow if you give up on your cause, Anon.Never lose hope.
>>28520049That only happens if you're secretly a serial killer. Normal people don't go to Silent Hill. The closest thing we saw was in Downpour, and those people just sorta sat around, because everything was blocked off and there were no monsters to get killed by.
>>28520049I'm not sure what a peristalsis is, and I'm not going to google it.
>>28520056That one eggbearer seemed pretty happy.
>>28519949It's not as though it could get rid of the Malfactors, not with the long and bloody history Silent Hill has. Even if it brings the hammer down on them (which, going by what happened to Shepards Glenn, it can) they would just keep popping up.
>>28520077It's nothing bad. It's basically just the word for what the intestinal muscles do when it's pushing food further into the anus.

>>28520074>The closest thing we saw was in Downpour, and those people just sorta sat around, because everything was blocked off and there were no monsters to get killed by.I could've sworn completely normal people perceive Silent Hill as a forgettable small town. How are you supposed to get out of Silent Hill if you don't have a major psychological flaw? Does it start to look for them? Is there a Silent Hill for people who have an irritation towards Mormons?

>>28520370>>28520386Man, fuck Patches. Of course the asshole would be the only guy to hang around.
It seems like everyone here is picking Silent Hill. Excellent taste, but I think being in your own personal hell may not be worth it, it might just be better to go to Raccoon city and get ate by zombies, you might be able to come across weapons or other survivors there. or deal with the crazy jap-monsters behind you.Though Silent Hill might be interesting, if only because it will let all your doubts and troubles bubble up and manifest into physical form, and hopefully you will be stronger because of it.I can only dream in very morbid curiosity what my monsters and punishments would look like.
>>28518602The fact that you're such a pussy-ass beta will actually be very very bad in SH and you'l have a shit load of issues and horrid monsters influence by how beta you are.
>>28520400If you go to Silent Hill, you're at least guaranteed to get a rudimentary bludgeoning weapon for your troubles. Also a nifty radio.
>>28520400It's really easy to work out what you'd see in SH.Think of all the horrible things you can. Take note of the ones that don't scare you shitless just in thought. Now, none of those will show up. But you can work out by reverse process of elimination what will, since your mind is never going to actually envision it's worst possible fears. Just take what you can think off and set it aside, and everything you can't must be the true horror.
>>28520400I know that my Silent Hill would be horrible, but it would be less frightening and more soul-crushing. Raccoon City, on the other hand, is assuredly lethal.
>>28520400Oh, and there's the nuke with Raccoon City's name on it, courtesy of the Umbrella Corporation.
>>28520451>since your mind is never going to actually envision it's worst possible fearsI'm not sure it works that way, but I understand.Well, let's see here... Based on traditional Silent Hill enemies, here are a few of my guesses.>DogsI would most certainly have dogs. It's hilarious, I actually love dogs, but for one period in my life I was scared of dogs for like a week after I was bitten by a dog. Best part is the whole time I KNEW I shouldn't have been scared, I had a nightmare where a dog was chasing me and as soon as I woke up I laughed because I shouldn't be scared of dogs! My mind and body makes me scared though, so I know the dogs in my SH would be very vicious and chase me, scaring the shit out of me. Oh and they'd probably laugh and cackle like Hyenas because I love Hyenas too, but that creepy laughing would throw me right off.>NursesThis is where I differ. I'm not scared of needles, doctors, or nurses. I'm actually a medical student myself. But I do have secret fears of getting into a situation where I hurt somebody by accident in my life, meaning I'm probably much more likely to get monsterous, deformed patients. I am also afraid of deformed and mentally retarded people, like childern and babies, so I have no doubt some fetal, harlequin baby fucker will crawl on the walls and scream at me until I slam it to death with a metal pipe.I guess I just have "adult" fears in that sense. I'm really scared of legal trouble and hurting other people. The worst situation I can think of is that moment of dread right after getting into a car accident or something similar, and for that split second before you do anything you just wish, HOPE that it's a dream or that you can reverse it, hope that you can fix it and make it not happen, but you know you can't. That moment makes me shudder every time. I'm not sure how you'd put that into a monstrous form, but I have no doubt I'd shit bricks at the sight of it.
>>28519375The T-Virus, F.E.V., and Corprus have hybridized into a new super mutagen. The dinosaurs have all caught it. Wat do?
>>28520386Moral of the story. Be a dick. Its the only way.Welcome to Darksouls
I'll ride a dinosaur through the town of my choosing. They said all those points into Ride was a waste. WELL WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?Fuck yo hypothetical, I do what I want.

Derry?>>28518595they have THE BEST SEAFOOD THERE.the calimari and froglegs are to die for.>>28519085ALL IS LOST. ABORT. ABORT. ABORT.well off to silent hill.i wonder when these psychedelics kick in?
>>28520609Lure them into Raccoon City, and try to ensure they're all there when the nuke hits.
>>28520700As well as mutating them and giving them divine powers, the Corprus has vastly increasrd the inate intelligence of the velociraptors. The undead taken super-mutant Ascended Sleeper velociraptors are now too smart to fall for any of your tricks.
I've never played Silent Hill. Sounds like I should though.Could someone sum up what Silent Hill does exactly? Is it especially malevolent or does it just activate your inner psychic turmoil?
I like how everyone's interpretation of Silent Hill is always synonymous with "personal hell"Its not JUST a personal Hell. Fuck, SH4 had NOTHING TO DO with the bland protagonist at all, for the most part.SH1 and SH3 versions of the town are farm more accurate to what you might experience. It all depends on WHEN you go there. And since Raccoon City is on the table, SH1 is your probable time line of arrival. It'll be less interesting, probably still more survivable than zombie army, but still. Demons aren't easy to fucking deal with.
>>28520796What this Anon said.>>28520800Silent Hill is a mirror, it reflects those who look into it. This DOES NOT always lead to a personal hell. Those with a great inner guilt or issues will receive a greater dose of the whole 'personal hell' thing. But those who have little, like Harry Mason and his daughter, who are the protags of Silent Hill 1 and 3 respectively, did not have inner guilt or doubt beyond most people; they weren't in an inner hell; they were in a OUTER hell, their Silent Hill was based and sculpted by cults and the other nasty, outside forces at work in silent hill.Think of it this way; your own personal fears and doubts will manifest itself, with it being stronger with your doubts and fears. It is also a place of heaping darkness and evil. The town's history would be hilarious as long as you weren't actually there. It was like a place for evil and ancient death cults, then the colonists came and did some bad shit, then it was a prisoner of war civil war camp (which was full of REALLY bad shit) and later was grounds for a sanatorium, and just a million other murders and cults and bad, bad things that put on so much negative mojo the town is rightfully fucked.tl;dr If you go to silent hill expect a personal experience and evil dogs, nurses, and to get fucked up in one way or another.
>>28520796Its a great series. SH1-4 are great, with 2 and 3 being the REAL stand outs.SH1 - Crazy cult wants to revive their 'god-demon', reality is warped by the traumatized spirit of a little girl effecting the towns innate spiritual powerSH2 - Guy goes looking for his dead wife, realty warps due to the 'spiritual power' that is inherent there and the despair brought on by him and a few others in the town.SH3 - The cult comes back, this time after the now teenage girl from SH1, still wants their 'demon-god-baby'SH4 - Crazy ritual involving a dead serial killer ghost (i know what I said), his victims, and the most bland protagonist.SH0 - Don't play this one. Its a dumb rehash of SH2 with nods towards SH1 to make it look like it fits the canonSH5(Homecoming) - Skip it. Its a poor-mans version of SH3 with really terrible melee combat.SH6(Downpour) - Shit version of SH2 meets Alan Wake setting. Monster design is particularly shit in this one.
>>28520791Worse yet, they've also found out how to open doors.
>>28520791...I have a plan.>Curl up in a ball>Try not to cry>Cry a lot
>>28520911So, what would happen to say a sociopath? Someone who was maybe accidentally responsible for the death of his friend but doesn't mind too much because it ensured his safety?
>>28520800>>28520911This is all pretty interesting. I'd likely fall into the positions of the characters in Silent Hill 1 and 3.How did the town manifest itself for them then? Was it just a generic hell, rape city or a survivable spook shack?
>>28520951I think they'd be pretty straight fucked right out the gate. If they don't feel the guilt straight forward, the town will hammer them with it in some way till they feel SOMETHING.Whether its the guilt or a horrible death at the hands of mental demon spawn.
So does Silent Hill actually exist as an actual town, or is it entirely Fog World/Otherworld?I keep hearing the statement that it's a "boring small town" but it seems to be anything but.
>>28521050It's a boring, small, abandoned town. Most of the time. If someone with severe mental issues decides he wants to investigate it (or is forced into doing so by the town's unusual geography), shit gets unreal.
>>28520987It was being effected by the town's cult and their chosen sacrifice to their god-demon-thing.Ash and fog, destroyed entrances and exits to the city's roads (once you're in, you're in it for the long haul, namely to save the girl from being sacrificed) random bouts of darkness and "generic" nightmare fuel monsters that don't quite look like one thing or another (lots of flayed dogs, flying demon bird things, and the like for generic enemies)SH3 was a lot more "traditional". everything looks rusted to shit and rotting, darkness everywhere, random monsters that just look fucking terrible (pic related)
>>28520951Nobody knows about the sociopath. And if 'the person doesn't mind too much because it ensured his safety' you'd be damn sure the town would punish him for that until he felt bad. It would break him down until he realized that he was wrong. It has a sense of justice in that sense, but I can't say for certain. It's still just a video game.>>28520987You should play or look up Silent Hill 1 and 3. But basically think of it like this;>Rusting metal>Razor wire>Darkness>Creatures based on the nightmares of a very, very sick childDogs, Nurses, and hospitals all play a role in anyone who visits. Expect the switching between a dark and light world; the dark world being full of the rusted metal and really nasty beasts- plus the classic air siren to show the transition. If you go look at Silent Hill 2 you'll notice that the 'dark' and 'light' worlds aren't the same. Another way the town manifests differently is in it's dark or evil or nightmare worlds. In Silent Hill 2, James's dark world was just very dark, showing regular urban decay. (Discolored walls and tearing paper, windows caked over with filth enough to block out almost all light, dust and old furniture piled up.) It's not quite the same as the SH 1 and 3 dark worlds of rusted metal grating and evil machinery. It's more urban and interior. It's more static and passive, a slow decline as opposed to a hellish instant transformation. Oh, and a recurring theme of jails and iron bars. These all have meaning and symbolism in the characters that go there. If you really want a feel however, play the game for yourself. Or just watch let's plays for the games, as I did :P
>>28520922The best plan.Sadly.
Question. How screwed would Issac Clarke (Dead Space) be?After DS3
>>28521175Does he have his RIG?A plasma cutter?
>>28521175Since I never played DS3, how fucked up was he after all that FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MARKER stuff?
>>28521186Just Rig.He has to find weapons in town.
>>28521217He'd probably do just fine in all of the locations, although I'd give a slight edge to Silent Hill because he's dealt with all that shit before.
>>28520913Downpour wasn't that bad. Yea, monster design was bad, but the overall themes were pretty solid. It was certainly better than 4 was, which just had a mess of a plot that was barely connected to SH anyways. You also forgot Shattered Memories, which had a pretty strong story.
So, here's a question:Would you ever want to run a game in a Silent Hill style location? Doesn't have to be modern setting either. this thread has kinda spurred me to throw my players into a situation like this...
>>28521146Silent Hill 2 is so amazing, I think, for the sheer level of detail put into the game.Hell, some of the shit they put in there you is almost impossible to notice unless you've played the previous game and understand why they made the change.
>>28521290Not really. I love Silent Hill enough to know that trying to emulate it will come up short, so I'm more than content with playing the games and circlejerkingtalking about it with you guys.
>>28521290>>28521355I have a rather fun idea to make Silent Hill the "final boss" in my Unknown Armies games. Cheers.
>>28520609You forgot Mind Cordiceps.
>>28521094Not abandoned, people live there. It's a small resort town. It's just that he protagonists never see that part, because they're in the Fog/Other world.
By the way, if you ever need inspiration or want to see the real Silent Hill movie, get a copy of Jacob's Ladder.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099871/I was kind of disappointed that they never used this sort of "Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" story for any of the games(? I didn't play Homecoming, but it seems like it'd be the one that fits best.)
So what happens if you decide to kite a t-rex into Silent Hill? Does the town decide to focus on you or does it decide to fixate on the dinosaur's hang-ups and psychoses?
>>28522081As much as I /love/ that short story, the "It was all a dying dream" thing is done to death.
Hinamizawa seems the best choice. History repeats, without your knowledge, until Happy End.
So, nobody feels like Mermen, then?Nobody?
>>28522150Pyramid Head is replaced by a giant meteorite
>>28522150The dinosaur does not have an advanced enough central nervous system to experience either of those things. It is a dinosaur.
>>28522994It's never mermen. Unless it's ironically mermen.
>>28522150Pyramidosaurus-rex happens.And then you die.
Well we kind of know the approximate scenario to get out of Hinamizawa successfully, even if their scenario only worked because it was perfect for the amount and identity of the people involved. Plus, Rika already went back in time and prevented the whole thing at the end to Kai anyway. So Hinamizawa is the obvious correct answer.
>>28517931the sign implies that he is entering silent hill
>>28516649>Elderitch mindfuck horror>Mankind's punishment for playing god>A rural japanese town that's normal 90% of the time and shit the other 10%Hinamizawa because in my opinion it is the least fucked up of the three.
>>28523421He's driving backwards.
>>28519480shut it down
>>28518019>>28517985There are NPCs that live in Silent Hill that aren't just random monsters, as has been shown. Most people who go through/to Silent Hill probably wonder why such a small, sleepy little town is mostly empty and looks so abandoned, then continue on their way.
>>28522240Thanks for spoiling the ending, asshole.
