LAST TIME ON GHOSTBUSTERS JAPAN:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28009567/Kicked out of University, his house, and blacklisted, because of his ethics and big mouth Harutora Daisuke was at the end of his rope and last can of beer. Then a chance meeting with his childhood friend Sato Fumihito put his life on a new course. One busted ghost, and mild case of strangulation later...he's now the newest member of Ghostbusters: Japan. That's a good thing...right?- - -"So this is the YOMI-1." Marunishi Akira says as he leads you out of the SongBird Karaoke Parlor. You see a white utility van that looked like it drove through a hardware store covered in glue. It's covered with...things, and wires, and a big headlight and loudspeakers. On the side is a giant Ghostbusters decal."She's a beauty, isn't she?" Akira says. "My finest stallion...well...second finest. Built this baby with my own hands." He kicks the tires with his cowboy boots. "Only Central has better steeds.""Try to ignore the groady smell inside." Kawasagi Sakura says. (Though she prefers you call her 'Star' and not tell her than the 80s ended.) "You can take the van out from the pasture, but part of the pasture never leaves the fan. No matter HOW much we try." She runs a hand through her poofy, neon-colored hair."Ah, but as the Ancients say," Sato Fumihito says. "When One Carries Home With You, You Always Know Where You Are.' Or something like that."These are your new co-workers. Dr. Kylie Griffin gives you a sympathetic look."So," Akira Asks you. "Before we head back to Base, any place we need to go to first, pick up anything?"
>>28057330>any place we need to go to first, pick up anything?"(back to yesterday to retrieve my sanity?)"Well, my duffle bag has all that I have so. . .no not really"
>>28057330Every scrap of booze between here and your ramshackle headquarters.Sidenote: There you are, I've been waiting for you.
Where were we heading at the station anyway before Sato lured us into the rabbit hole?Outside of town?
>>28057440Yeah, I think at this point we need to walk in to a liquor store and drink it.
>>28057511If you count oblivion by way of suicide by train as out of town, kinda.
>>28057561Heh, we even packed our bags.Too bad, we could've come back to haunt the train and give Sato a bit of a surprise.
>>28057440If we have cash. We'll need some good spirits if we're gonna hunt bad spirits.>>28057407Alternatively if we're piss broke
>>28057407(Back to yesterday to retrieve my sanity?) You think to yourself."Well, my duffle bag has all that I have so...no not really" You say."Alright!" Akira slaps you on the back, hard. "On we go then!"Your drive through the city of Tokyo is one you'll never forget. Akira drives like a lunatic wo seems to operate on simple principles. '1) Get there as quickly as possible. 2) Don't hit anything.' all other things like laws, traffic flow, buildings, streets, and possibly even the laws of physics don't apply. Also, apparently Star controls the radio, and this whole trip is done to the tune of Oingo Boingo's 'Dead Man's Party'Finally, you arrive and you stumble out the van, legs shaking."Welcome to the 'Great For Happiness Dumplings' Factory!" Sato says. "Your new home and our base of operations.""What's that smell?" You ask."That would be the horse." Sato says. "Long story, you'll meet her later."You go inside, the place is...well...you're starting to recognize the 'exploded electronic' look of GB tech. This time it's merged with a mass-production dumpling factory."Our dorms are on the second floor." Akira says. "You and Starr have your own room, of course.""Roomies!" Star says."Oh." A voice says. "You're back.A woman with long black hair, glasses, a green t-shit, jeans and strappy sandals, is sitting behind a desk that's been placed near the front of the factory. You know she's got jeans and sandals on because she has her feet up on the desk and is watching a daytime drama on her laptop."This is Tamotsu Sana!" Sato says. "Our secr-""Operations Manager." The woman in glasses and long black hair said, not looking away from the tv show. "So...you got a death wish, stupid, or both?""I thought you had a callback today?" Akira asks."Found out that one of my competition is fucking the casting director." She says. "Figured 'why bother,' I got another audition coming up. No big." "Sana's trying to be an actress." Sato says.(cont)
>>28057659>not even tryingNever get a role with that attitude, banging the director or not.
>>28057659"Anyway," Akira says. "We have some forms for you to sign. Just legal stuff. It's no big deal."'No big deal' turns out to be the LONGEST group of liability/non-disclosure/employee health insurance forms you'v ever seen in your life.Apparently being a Ghostbuster gives you great benefits, even dental. Although from the list of things that the liability form says that could happen to you...you think that may be out of necessity rather than generosity. There's also some rather insulting forms detailing your membership into something called P-COC. It looks like a lot of protocol...but the Ghostbusters have been Grandfathered past a lot of the more restrictive red tape.> Sign it all without reading further> Carefully sign everything.> Sign and ask where the nearest beer is being sold.
>>28057712Read before signing. Harutora Daisuke is no chump.
>>28057659>Also, apparently Star controls the radio, and this whole trip is done to the tune of Oingo Boingo's 'Dead Man's Party'I like her more by the minute.
>>28057712>Carefully sign everything and make Sato give us that drink he owes us.
>>28057712> Sign it all without reading furtherGhostbusters are real, but their reputation for being cons isn't 100% unfounded.
>>28057763Fuck I mean> Carefully sign everything.
>>28057712> Carefully read everything, then go looking for beer.No need to go halfassing this.
>>28057777At least not till we've drunk ourselves blind
>>28057712Read carefully. We may be disgraced, but we are no fool...okay we may be a fool, signing up with these guys.
You slowly read through the entire documents. There's not many red flags, save two,The Non-Disclosure Agreement is a little weird. You can't talk to others about your work especially 'anything that may cause memetic damage to society, or could cause distress due to actions taken by ambulatory beings that take the image of known formerly alive individuals.' Also, if you tell anyone how to unlock or access and ESPECIALLY 'shut down,' the Containment Field. (Whatever that is) You are SO fired.' It's really weird. Some tech you're actively encouraged to talk about, others you have to keep your mouth SHUT.The P-COC, or Paranormal Control Oversight Coalition also has some weird stuff. Basically, whenever your local representative arrives at your place, you have to follow his 'suggestions and efficiency recommendations' or else they'll throw your ass in jail, or an asylum. Ghostbusters get more leeway than others, but this seems less like an consultant or oversight committee and more like a collection of dickless assholes. Also, your pay isn't that great. I mean, it's good, but there's equipment fees, maintenance costs, your power bill is ABSURD, health insurance costs, and Union Dues...which is strange because the only members of the Union of Paranormal Cleansers and Managers are the Ghostbusters and their franchises.Still, lots of tax write offs...which are written to the American Tax Code. You have no idea what that means for you specifically but you think jack shit.Still, no real red flags. Just imminent death and dismemberment, and while you can ask Central for technical help, NEVER ask them for money and you aren't seeing yen one for any merchandising, but are expected to report any store that selling bootleg goods. You sign the last form and look at Sato. "So, how about that drink you owe me?""Sure. There's the cafe run by this nice couple, or a convenience store run by a sweet family." Sato says. "They're walking distance away, both serve beer."
>>28057992>American biased contracts and profits Why hello there Peter and Janine, how are you two doing?
(Sorry about that comment earlier about you and Star being roomies, that was a mixup. You bunk with Sato and Akira. Sana and Star bunk together. Sadly you have no firepole, but you do have an industrial auto-mixer and oversized whisk.)> Cafe> Store> I'm gonna go unpack, you get beer and bring it back here.> Other
>>28058027>Not letting us room with a chickAww.Hmm. I vote store.
>>28057992> There's not many red flags, save two,So either we're bad at reading or they've gotten better at writing ha.>Paranormal Control Oversight Coalition Dammit, I bet Walter Peck had something to do with this. These assholes are international too (gods help us all).
>>28058062I wouldn't be surprised if peck was president or chief commissioner of that.>>28058027Store. We train tomorrow, tonight we drink.
>>28058027Yeah sure store.
>>28057992Store. You can buy a sixpack or something and have cold beer at the factory when you need it.
The store is a block away. You notice that the neighborhood is a little...unique as compared to the usual places in Tokyo you've seen. There's a bit more decoration here and there, and a little less cleanliness in places you've come to expect."They call it the Reject Zone." Sato says, apparently picking up on what you're picking up. "It's where the dross of Tokyo end up. A lot of refugees, hikikomori who got kicked out, lowest class workers, people who are a bit too out of place." He shrugs. "The cafe's run by a lovely homosexual couple. Nicest guys you'll ever meet but..." He shrugs. "Well, people can be stupid."The store is a small corner convenience store, with food, diapers, snacks, batteries, and beer. Sato buys a couple cases from the nice Koreans that run the place. You walk back. "We're kind of the biggest thing to happen to this part of town since...ever." He shrugs. "We just thought it was a cheap building."> Ask about GBs> Ask about P-COC> Ask about Reject Zone> Ask about Sato/Akira/Star/Sana/Dr. Griffin> Crack open a beer.

I'm sure you want to ask about them all, but in this case it's important to decide what you want to ask about FIRST.

>>28058429Ghostbusters.Mainly, what happened to the original crew.
>>28058461That's the way!
>>28058461"So," You crack open a beer and take a drink. "Tell me about the Ghostbusters. Is what happened earlier today all that they do?""Kinda." Sato says. "We're considered to be a specialized pest control business. With a little bit of Apocalypse Averting on the side." He grins. "But that's Central's stuff.""Central, that's the ones in New York who were on the news back in the 80s?""The very same." He nods."They've got franchises now?""A couple in America, one in England, one in South Africa, and us." Sato says."South Africa?""Yeah, someone who worked for Central for a little bit had family, and when they heard that they had PKE issues, they moved there and opened up shop." Sato says. "The guy was a heavy hitter, took out a Class X called Dumazu.""Class X?" You ask. "I thought the manual had them by numbers?""Yeah, don't ask." Sato shakes his head. "If we ever fight a Class X, YOU'LL KNOW.""Okay, so what's the bussiness plan and why is there an arrow in our door?" You ask."Aww fuck, again?" He yanks it out. "She just doesn't give up, does she...and she can HURT people!"You see a note attached to the arrow. You take it off and read it aloud. "False prophets of unholy science, know that you bolster your ranks fruitlessly. Soon your lies will be exposed. You will know the TRUE power of the world beyond, and I well see you sent to HELL!" You blink. "Who wrote this?""Our neighbor." Sato points across the street. You see that there's a rather decent sized temple on the top of a flight of stairs."Is...is that the reason why the sign is filled with arrows?" You ask."Yeah," Sato sighs. "Turns out some mikos have hair trigger tempers and good aim." He shakes his head. "Sachiko's a piece of work. If she's a proper priestess, then Ishtar had a slight temper. She's been extorting these poor people for years. Offering good luck charms and exorcisms to these people, and charging them for 'spiritual protection.' Ugh." He shakes his head.(cont)
>>28058719Remember guys, if a Class X asks if you're a god, what's the appropriate response?
>>28058719"I guess she sees us as competition." Sato says. "We're back!" He announces as he enters the room. "We brought carbs and alcohol!"There's a general cheer and soon you're sitting around a table, eating microwave pork buns and drinking beer with your new 'co-workers' it's nice. Reminds you of your friends back in college before they turned on you.Akira and Sana are talking about their respective work. Dr. Griffin and Star are talking in english about something."You know," Sato says. "It's really sad that she's so against us. It furthers that nasty science vs. mysticism stereotype. It says in the handbook that all Ghostbusters are to defer to spiritual authorities, and to view all rituals with deference and respect." He nods. "I mean, we're not SO different from the classic Shaman role, just with different methodology."> Ask about P-COC> Ask about Reject Zone> Ask about Sato/Akira/Star/Sana/Dr. Griffin> Crack open a beer.

"So," You ask as you open another beer. "What's this P-COC thing?"The table groans."Dickless bastards." Star grumbles."THEY are the bad stereotype of the modern world trying to smash out mysticism." Sato says. "You know they've already come down like a bag of bricks on three different exorcist groups, and totally shut down a school?""They are enforcing their force so that they may be forceful and hurt others because they cannot hurt us, they are complete roosters who feed upon each other." Dr. Griffin says...you think...her Japanese isn't very good."Daisuke," Akira says. "P-COC are the people who watch us, and they make sure that we are unable to help people.""Do be fair, they helped Central that ONE time." Star says."1) That was someone from Miskatonic who worked for P-COC who recognized the signs and saw the ads for the Play. 2) His bosses dismissed his claims so he went behind their back to tell Central. 3) They STILL took credit for it! Fuck. Them.""Half of them can't even see PKE entities." Sato says. "Cushy government job, be an asshole, and you don't even have to believe...I know plenty of members of the Diet who should be in there.""Why CAN we see ghosts?" You ask. "Thought only special people could.""I got this." Star smiles. "You go into the woods, and you don't see anything. You walk through it, and suddenly you see a snake right in front of you, one more step and you'd have stepped on it."Next time you enter the woods, your brain is working overtime, looking at the foliage, making sure that you don't miss seeing the snake. Dr. Spengler hypothesizes that it's the same thing. People don't see PKE entities, because they don't recognize the threat or feel threatened. If a PKE Entity attacks, THEN they see it, unless the Entity is applying energy to be unnoticed. However, WE'RE constantly looking out for the things, so our brains are geared towards seeing them. It's fight/flight.""That or the GB Tech has warped us." Dr. Griffin says.
>>28059506"But you did not hear that from me and should not repeat it." She says.Topics:> Sachiko> Reject Zone> Teammates> Why is there a horse over there?
>>28058984>>28059506I'm confused, what's all this about "sight" and not being able to see PKE entities?Movies and games, you can only see ghosts if they choose to show themselves (which was often) or if hidden you were using the PKE and scanner goggles.
>>28059506>"They are enforcing their force so that they may be forceful and hurt others because they cannot hurt us, they are complete roosters who feed upon each other." Dr. Griffin says...you think...her Japanese isn't very good.HA!>>28059525> Reject ZoneMight as well get the general lay of the land before we start asking specifics.
>>28059580Oh wait, nvm read on an understood.
>>28059525Reject zone. (+=1 beer)
>>28059525>Reject ZoneMay as well learn the neighborhood.
>>28059580I'm not entirely sure either. I think it's talking about the ghosts aren't actively trying to create a form for or show themselves or scare anyone. The movies and games and film were mostly filled with ghosts that were trying to create forms for themselves that anyone could see. They were "active" entities (according to the game) that are on this dimension. This probably means we can see "inactive" entities, spirits that haven't exactly crossed into this dimension nor left it (Yurei perhaps). In the game, the merging of Gozers realm and the realworld, as well as by the design of New York city on a giant mandala, allowed people to see the souls of the dead that were supposed to be invisible. "psychokinetic echos" or "ghosts of ghosts" according to egon. The equipment doesn't really effect them because of that (though more powerful ghosts can eat them and slowly gain power).
>>28059580>>28059839The Sight, as something from mystical tradition means that you can see the spirits of the dead. For a great example, watch the movie Paranorman. It's not an especially great power, but can be very useful when you need to interview murder victims. That said, the people of the Ghostbusters world are able to see ghosts, at least the ones we see on screen and especially the Ghostbusters themselves. This leads to two conclusions: the Sight is a trainable skill OR everyone in the Ghostbusters universe has the Sight unless they are particularly unimaginative.
>>28059839Those common souls of the dead that don't try to show themselves or hurt anyone are completely harmless btw, if you can see them (not even the scanner can). At least according to game lore. They're not even a class 1 entity.>>28059922I'm almost certain this sight only refers to the ability to see "souls of the dead" or very weak PKE entities that aren't "active" (ghosts).
>>28059943My take on it is>Soul of the dead (inactive PKE entity)Can't normally see unless special conditions (curses, rituals, apocalypse, ect.). Can only be seen when inactive if you have the sight, or under special ocasions [rituals, apocalypse, ect.]>"Ghost" (active PKE entity)These have chosen to take on quasi-material/ethereal forms and will always be seen unless hiding in an inanimate object or possessing a person.Souls that will themselves to be seen/act or are too emotionally charged to simply "lay low" automatically become ghost. It is likely prolonged willful interaction with people or things naturally causes souls to become active ghost (slimer constantly trying to eat).
"So...this is the 'Reject Zone' then?"The other two natives look at Sato. He shrugs. "What? I should lie?""No, but not use that bogus nickname!" Star huffs. "It's lame, lame, LAME!" She fumes. "This place is NOT a 'reject!' Okay?""This dumpling factory belonged to Star's uncle." Akira says, putting a hand on Star's shoulder. "He was a very good man, and heh...very imaginative. Then the bubble burst." He gestures to the large empty factory. "Now this is it.""Some Men Fall, They Rise, Some Men Fall, They Break." Sato says. "Or something like that."Star sniffs. "I loved him a lot, and he tried he really really tried to come back...but...but we do not live in a country that tolerates failure. Japan told him that he was a loser and a failure, and there was only one way to salvage his family name." She sighs. "So one day there was a train incident."There's a long pause. You stare at the beer in your hand. Maybe you've had enough for today. The phone rings, and Sana gets up to answer it."Ghostbusters..." She asks. "Really? How bad? What do you mean by fatal crockery? Oh, has anyone been killed? Because Ghostbusters doesn't...okay...okay...well for a home visitation, an evening visit, and you're asking for a full-on inspection, cleansing, AND...heh alright, if YOU don't want to haggle...we'll also need you to sign the proper liability and property waiv...alright but a rush job will cost you extra, cause we ARE putting you on the front of the line. Okay...thank you." She hands up. "We got one!" She says."YEEE-HAW!" Akira says."I'll go get the packs!" Star says."I am very engaged to be here and happy to be present as well tomatoes!" Dr. Griffin says."Dai..." Sato says. "You know you don't have to come, you've had a fuck of a morning, no need to add more tonight."> Eh, I'm in.> Yeah, have fun. I'm gonna finish my beers.> Do I still get paid either way?

>>28060124Let's go watch these people work. Preferably without getting chocked out.Though we've been drinking, so let's not help out unless we have to.
>>28060124>> Eh, I'm in.
>>28060124"Eh, might as well get on the job training. So you guys do, I'll watch on the sidelines, ok?"
>>28060124So we've "had enough for the night" and she's asking us to handle a particle stream weapon?>eh I'm in.Shit we better bone up on our equipment on the way. We have the game upgraded abilities right? What were they?
>>28060124>Eh, I'm in.Finish off the rest of that beer and gear up.
>>28060207From what I remember.>Capture StreamDefault weapon. Throws a stream of charged plasma that neutralizes the negative energy of ghosts. and can hold them down over traps or slam them against walls to knock them outCan also lift solid objects into the air>Boson DartLaunches explosive boson darts, very effective against tearing apart material constructs and knocking down the more larger ghosts. Takes a lot of power and cooldown time.>Stasis beamLaunches order reducing particles which bind to ectoplasmic or physical matter, freezing them in place and turning them brittle to smashAlso comes in a shotgun shrapnel shot version, to take down large groups of swarmers or knock back opponents>Plasm Distribution systemComes in two modes, sprayer and slingSprayer launches positively-charged Psychomagnotheric Slime, which can slow down ghosts, disperse their effects and illusions (show fake walls, reveal hidden doors, land floating furniture) and neutralize caustic black slime. Also can be used to purge living beings of possessing entitiesSling launches a slingshot slime that quickly contracts and turns brittle, and can quickly sling two objects together. Use your imagination on this one, the ghostbusters used it to bring down drawbridges or sling explosive ghosts at an “unbreakable” gate.
>>28060255(This is pretty much it. Oh, also (even though the game is lousy) Sanctum of Slime is also canon here.)You finish your beer. "Eh, I'm in.""How many of those have you had?" Sato asks as you and he suit up.You shrug. "My tolerance these days is really high.""I bet." Sato pauses and looks at you. "Keio University....was it that test score thing?"You give him a look. "Show me how to work these neutro-whatever wands.""Neutrino." Sato says, catching the hint. "Yeah, sure."You get a very good crash course in the car, which once again is filled with Akira's driving madness and Star's pick of 'Weird Science.'Once the training is over, you get a conference call with Sana."Okay, so I looked up what I heard. And I think I found something similar to what you guys have.""Did you find it in Tobin's or Spengler's?""My niece's storybook that she gave me when she heard I was working in this madhouse." She says. "Sounds like Okiku.""The plate ghost?" Sato says."Yeah." Sana says. "But it's weird. There's no well in this property, and there's been no stated incidents of counting.""Not to mention Okiku has never been recorded as being a hostile ghost, much less PKE-Induced Telekinetic Forces." Sato says. "But, if it is Okiku, or a PKE Entity that's taken on her Aspect, then...guess we could try out the simple method."> What's the simple method?> Oh you mean (Quiz: How do you dispel Okiku? Going by honor system here, no looking it up!)> Can we PLEASE change the radio?!
>>28060255Oh, and then there's the PKE meter and scanner goggles. Green means general paranormal anomalies or energy (slime, lights, floating furniter). Blue means an "active sample" (cursed relics, tomes, magically enhanced gadgets). Red means an active ghost is about, either in plain sight or hiding. The scanner can be used to see through illusions like fake walls and hidden doors. Also used to take snapshots of ghosts for study back home.Apparently doesn't really work to detect ghosts possesing people though, since they "blend in to natural aura" and not even harder scans like electrodes can find them (Ivo Shandor possesed the mayor for months and none the wiser). On a side note, in the film the GB had a spectronalizer to use to look for ghosts in regular photographs (pictures Vigo's portrait for instance). Though in Vigo's case he was so powerful that the photograph copies burst into flame and locked the door (maybe there is something to the whole "camera's steal a piece of your soul" thing)
>>28060410>What's the easy way, since we won't be using it?Aside; what DID we do that got us kicked out? You said it was something to do with ethics and getting poor test scores wouldn't fit the bill unless everyone else cheating horribly using the 'official' method or something and we tried to report them.

>>28060538Oh, you wrote the theory about the culture deconstruction and suicide causes? Sweet.
>>28060410>What's the simple method?
>>28060548Oh wait, counting. That was it. You count the missing plate she lost.
"What's the easy method?" You ask."Finish helping her count to ten." Sato says. "Short version of one version of the tale. Okiko was a maid in a noble's household. Noble had the hots for her. Wife finds out. Wife breaks one of the 10 precious heirloom plates. Okiku is blamed, executed, and dumped down an empty well. Her ghost then mournfully counts to ten every night, or tries to, at Nine she breaks down weeping. If someone says 'Ten' at the right spot, she is satisfied and Moves On.""But that's not exactly what's happening here.""Well, when crockery is involved, people go to Okiku first." Sato says."Kind of a dumb tale." Akira says. "Not that I'm knocking it. But, I'm a bigger fan of Sugawara no Michizane, or Yuki-Onna...or Oiwa.""Yeah, well...let's see if this is Okiku, a Shade of her, or just someone acting like her." Star says. "I don't want anything to go wrong with THAT.""Agreed."Akira knocks on the door and a very upset man opens the door and stammers out something half-intelligible.Akira smiles and takes him outside to calm him down, and to fill out the forms and pay the fees."Okay," Sato says. "Standard procedure for residential haunting, everyone take a room, constant radio contact, first sign of trouble signal for support, and remember we MUST do the proper protocol greeting." He waves his handbook. "This is by the book folks.""Alright, we know. Don't got mental on me." Star says."Which room you want?"> Bedroom> Kitchen> Main Room

>>28061126It's robably in our pockets if we haven't changed clothes. She's moved on, and I don't think she was powerful enough to enchant it for anything more than the recordings of the dead. It'll probably be a low level blue item if we use meter at best.
>>28061080>Kitchen because we're the awesome rookie that took on three angry girl ghosts before taking the job.
>>28061126>Hey, do we still have Yurei's Chyme on us?Sure."I'll take the Kitchen." You say.Sato looks disappointed, Star looks relieved. You split up, and take out your PKE meter.Roll 3d6 (Three dice to check for a ghost roll, because it's a poltergeist, and you're in a kitchen.)

>>28061313>This isn't even scratching the surface of Japanese mythos.Oh, I was talking about the culture stuff. Like well the 'Train accident' and the cause of the first ghosts. Is Japan's suicide rate really that bad?
>>28061411>Japan has one of the world's highest suicide rates, and the Japanese government reported the rate for 2006 as being the ninth highest in the world. 71% of suicides in Japan were male, and it is the leading cause of death in men aged 20–44.
>>28061411It's pretty crazy.Aokigahara, is probably a Twinkie the size of the Knock Nevis.
>>28061448That's a big twinkie.
>>28061265Generally speaking, the classes can be inferred from the game and can get a little different that the classes for ghosts/entities.1-2 Swarmers. Flying books, flying knives, generally little things that fly in swarms but don't really act as individuals or have identity. Often just energy given sentience or directed by one, or lost disgruntled souls and animals spirits.3-5 Your basic humanoid constructs, people who have willed material objects to take up bodies for them.6-7 Golems and monsters. At this stage they take a focal object and can draw great masses of material and often have energy blasts, but if the focal object is taken out of the hulk the whole structure falls apart. 8-9 Very powerful constructs. The Spider Witch and the Collector from the video games or the a weakened return of Stay Puft Gozer. Wizards the likes of Vigo and Ivo Shandor in the mayors body, or Zuul the demigod, would be 9's.10-above. Here be the gods and demons. Gozer in his prime, and Ivo becoming the Architect God.
You have your Spectra-Goggles on and are waving the PKE meter around. Nothing.Well, that's not true. You're picking up a lot of residue, and this place has a lovely light patina of Negatively Charged Spectral Residue on every heavily used surface. This is something the manual says that you'd expect more at a hospice, or a mental health facility. A private residence is...unusual.Still no active signatures. You head out into the main room. Star is there, checking things out."Hey." She says. "Any luck?""Nah, kitchen's clean...sorta. Hey, this place is pretty heavily coated in slime." You say."Yeah." Star says. "This is actually not that bad. Average for a Tokyo household. We've seen apartments with worse.""Shouldn't we do something about it?" You ask."Only if they offer to pay for a cleansing." Star says. "We tried doing a gratis spraying. It didn't end well...a small fire, and Sato ended up getting hurled through a wall.""Huh." You help her scan the whole room."You know, I know what you did." Starr says. "I think you did the right thing. I don't know if I would have the courage. So...HOW many people have been fired?""Last count was 12." You say. "I don't like talking about it.""Okay." She croaks out.Suddenly there's a glow of red from within her, and the black slime all gets sucked back up within her and you hear that sizzling sound. Her eyes flash red and she snarls at you.She ten floats down to the kotatsu, and with a blast of heat it lifts off of the ground, actual fire licking from under the blanket. It looks like a ridiculous, lethal, skirt."DIE!" She screams. What'll it be?> Proton Beam> Stasis Blast> Slime Blower> Meson Collider> Fermion Shock> Plasma Inductor2 work great, 2 are average, 2 are lousy
>>28062495Proton BeamStick with the classics?
>>28062495At this point, I would like to remind that black slime sucks out your very lifeforce on contact and hurts like a son of a bitch, on top of the ghost being on fire.Of which I would recommend the slime blower to neutralize both those threats.I'm not entirely sure about the second weapon.
>>28062495> Slime Blower
>>28062495>Slime BlowerBlack slime and a ghost possessed by something else? This is probably one of the great choices.
>>28062495The meson collider isn't even a real offensive weapon, it's meant as a target beacon for the Overload Pulse (basically rapid fire machine gun plasma).Fermion shock and Plasma inductor are based on ghost color types (blue and yellow respective) and this one clearly has red.those are likely the lousy ones in this situation.
>>28062550No no, parton. Let me explain. You pick one weapon out of the list. Two weapons will give you a bonus. Two weapons will give you a penalty. Two weapons do neither.Hint: No slime or physical manifestation of the Ghost is apparent. The ghost is manipulating the kotatsu, not possessing it. Pyro-kinesis is considered to be an 'accelerating' PKE manipulation, which is why none of you can see your breath...apart from the fire.
>>28062591Stasis Blast! Stasis Blast!

Rolled 9, 6 = 15>>28062831(That's supposed to be a penalty.)She just barely misses you and your jumpsuit gets singed. She does break free of the stasis crystals though. You can blast her, like the other two are doing, or you can use the stasis beam again, your call.

That's REALLY going to hurt when the adrenaline wears off.The other two try and blast her, as you try and get up and untangled.
Rolled 6>>28063179Sato's misses, and worse, his pack has overheated and caused a dead charge. He's got to vent and swap in a new energy pack.Star hits.Okiku tries to hit Sato as he's recharging.

Rolled 4So, GM. I've got to point out something incredibly stupid you did today:>This is your ONE mercy. From now on, dud roll, wrong die, or you're a guy who rolls all the time, doesn't matter. Ghost Roll is a Ghost Roll.Seriously? It doesn't matter what die? It doesn't matter when it's rolled? Why not just say "hey, if you want be an asshole and fuck over my quest, just keep rolling d4s until you've got enough 4s to kill off the cast?"Just stick to the first three legit rolls. >>28063566Close but not correct. Different yomi. A Seto Taisho. Also, you're still not sure if that was the same Okiku of legend or someone aping her. The others think it was the latter, some maid that got killed and went nuts as a spirit. It's not uncommon for yurei to imitate well known stories. As Dr. Spengler says in his books, entities can manipulate PKE more dramatically and have more 'substance' the more frightened people are. It causes mood slime and higher PKE fields and a lot of technical stuff in Egon-speak. Basically scared people make bigger twinkies than not-scared people. So a lot of ghosts cash in on old legends, as it's easy to act them out as their in the Collective Zeitgeist/Gestalt of people, and thus easy to replicate, and cause a big draw of power. THe down side to this is that, you play by an old story, you play by it's rules. Also, you have a chance of losing your own sense of self and 'becoming' the character in the story. So the maid ghost would have forgotten who she was and thought herself as being Okiku. That being said, you may have gotten her mid-transferrence which explains why she attacked instead of Crossing Over when you said 'Ten.' Otherwise, there's Something Strange happening, because Okiku should NOT have attacked you if you said 'Ten.'But it was probably just a maid ghost in the middle of becoming Okiku. That explains it. There's certainly nothing more deep and sinister going on.Oh by the by, there's a named Episode coming up down the line. I would like you to start talking about which one you want:Be Kind, RewindWater DamageBeGrudging RespectDo you have a preference?
>>28063669>Certainly nothing more deep and sinister going onBlatant Lies: the Home GameSo what, the stories breaking down? Ghosts getting put into their zeitgeist boxes able to break out at will? Shit.
>>28063669>"There's certainly nothing more deep and sinister going on."
>>28063669BeGrudging Respect.Why not.

So the maid ghost would have forgotten who she was and thought herself as being Okiku.I wonder if that's a regional cultural-socio psionic phenomenon. The New York ghosts were certainly on the other end of the spectrum, favoring individualistic forms based on their living lives, many non standard. Apart from the plethora of monsters and creatures, there were indivuals like the Ghost taxi driver, the Grey Lady of the LIbrary, the Spider Witch. Alternatively ghosts stuck together in archtypes like the passengers Ghost Train or the Titanic. Probably because New Yorkers and Western culture in general don't have such a strong a tradition of ghosts for a strong Collective Zeitgeist/Gestalt . In addition to the other factors of Shandor's fingers all over the place and the city designed as a sumerian god beacon.
>>28063669>Be Kind, RewindAnd pass out lots of copies of this tape?

>>28063811Or perhaps he's enlightened to the way things really are.Well, let's just be glad. Thankfully there's no slime sewer system from an inter-dimensional portal in Tokyo like there is/was in New York, because if angry New Yorkers created hostile ghosts, gods know what fatalistic sentiments would spawn from rivers of mood slime.
>>28063914>gods know what fatalistic sentiments would spawn from rivers of mood slime.Suddenly fatalistic Shinigami everywhere
