"Thanks," You pant," It'd really help a lot." You say as the uncomfortable heat washes over your body again.Goldenrod looks at you, and then averts his eyes down,"I'll try hard." In the next moment, he vanishes appearing within sight near the top of one of the trees before a second teleport. He might just be alright.Janine looks up as he vanishes and turns her attention to the two of you, keep your eyes out for threats. While we're still at the entrance, we may still encounter some monsters. Here, you're going to want to watch out for small horned creatures, they sprout toxic barbs when threatened. Most of the others aren't a big deal if we avoid them."Bruise seems considerate as he looks at his own index, carefully pressing inputs despite his cestus, nodding,"Nidoran, they're known as the Poison Pin monsters. I can see why we'd want o watch out. If I didn't have the cestus, I might not even be able to touch them. You open up your own Index to look up the entry, frowning as you read one variant>#032:Nidoran(male)>Type: Poison pin>Danger Level: D>Entry: A small creature, more aggressive than its counterpart and just as toxic. Caution is to be taken should there be signs of encroaching upon one. If we get near-""If we get near, the repel gear should help us escape detection. And we have two mid ranged fighters suited for dealing with them. We'll be fine."Janine turns to look at a spot, just as Goldenrod ports back, he recoils with a small amount of terror, falling back onto the ground," Woah, woah, woah... That was weird."
"Report,"Goldenrod stands up abruptly and salutes, getting an "At ease" from Janine. He starts," I sensed a lot of monsters to the west of here, West South-west To be more specific. We should find water there."Janine gives Goldenrod a pat on the head, making him smile a little," Good work, we move out by his direction!" >Roll 1d100 Best of 7.>Danger Zone! >>28043311>>28043312What did you mean? That the crit failure range was within 10 rolls (what would even be considered a crit failure, then), or that 10 below is a crit failure?
Rolled 47>>28043311you fucking cunti luv u
>>28043311Keep our head on a swivel, don't get distracted with small talk. Discuss what we're likely to run into and make sure we have strategies set up for things going wrong. And work out preliminary plans for dealing with Farfetch'd. Mainly us freezing the fucker and then people capturing it.
Rolled 40>>28043312Hey, we aren't alone in this. We can't support the whole expedition with our equipment.>>28043340We should be careful with ice type moves, Farfetch'd is weak to them and could easily be killed.
>>28043329>10 below is a crit failurethis>>28043311Keep eyes open and talking to minimum
>>28043348Everyone but us brought a wide range of things/things to save themselves or protective gear.we brought traps and bait.not that i disagree with it but we're kinda fucked now
>>28043326Nidoran and Nidorino are just plain Poison types, weak to Ground/Psychic. Neither of which we have. Nidoking is Poison/Ground and is weak to Water and Ice.Either way we're probably best off by hitting it with Icy Wind in order to slow it down and prevent it from poisoning our buds. We're probably better at dealing with poison than the others, we have a thick layer of blubber and if we find a pool we can Hydrate in it and hopefully recover.
>>28043311We should talk about what roles we'll each take for the hunt. With Goldenrod's abilities, he can see farther away than most of us, but Bruise has superior tracking and sensing abilities, so we'll rely on him for tracking in the immediate area.In combat, Goldenrod lacks any offensive abilities of his own, but he brought along a few smoke bombs, so he'll be useful in the capacity of acting as a distraction/preparing for our escape.Bruise can go on the attack or on the defense, so he should switch between these rolls at his discretion. We can support him with our own abilities by debilitating the opposition, and if needed, we can engage in combat ourselves.
>>28043348We have to go Full Blizzard if we wanna survive this one now.
>>28043311Ask Janine what she did last time?Or is that not allowed?AlsoTHE HUNT BEGINS
>>28043398i was talking more of the strategies that experienced rangers us for dealing with them.cause getting close is stupidthings for slowing etc etc

>Janine's Squadron is in purple. >Movement from 11,5 > 10,5>Encounter!>Minimum Chatter, contingency strategies! With Bruise in the lead, the team moves carefully through the wood, the sound of wild and dangerous life buzzing and chattering around you, artificial echoes call back from the inner dome that the beasts are kept in, multiplying their numbers as they prey into your imagination. The sweltering heat lingers, digging deep into your body as you stare at the back of Bruise and Goldenrod, Janine taking the back to watch over everyone. The lot of you are silent for the most part."Um, Janine?" You glance back at your leader only to hear a snort of air from her."Eyes to either side and front Cerulean." She huffs, obtrusively, glancing around, obviously perturbed by something."Ah, r-right." You adjust your vision, and Bruise gives a hushed call from the front."Kakunes ahead. Don't touch the trees. That's when you see them, like silent statues upon the trees of the wood, shaded by the emerald green leaves of the trees, there's one, then two, then three, and then a dozen pods hung upon trees."J-Janine?" You worry, keeping your eyes trained upon the things, as their pitch black eyes stare back at you, empty."Keep quiet now, Cerulean, there's nothing to fear. >>28043594Chance rolls are tricky. Low rolls tend not to do anything while high rolls tend to yield something nice. And crit-fails tend to unleash hordes of beedrill.
>>28043560>Threat to be exterminated before it hatches. Beware touch as it can extend a stinger through its shell in self defense. So does that mean it's our responsibility to kill these things now that we've seen them?Or is it okay to leave them be seeing as this is a nature preserve of some kind?

>>28043574>>28043571Thank you.As for action input. Consult Janine if we may engage. If yes, use Icy Wind. If no, stay low and sneak away.

>>28043621>>28043662They were either placed here by the gym leaders or by the insects that are kept here. I'm sure they monitor the number of monsters present in the ecology and send out extermination squads when needed.Remember that all this is maintained by the gym leaders as a training exercise for recruits.
>>28043666Or just ask if engaging is appropriate.Asking permission to engage seems like we actually want to do that.
>>28043666>>28043697No talking. If engaging was appropriate, Janine would convey the idea to us through other, less detectable means.
>>28043666>>28043697>"Keep quiet now, Cerulean, there's nothing to fear. They cannot move."She just ordered us to stay quiet, so cancel that order, cadets!
>>28043727So right now we do nothing?I'm cool with that.
>>28043753yeah, i son't really know why he said to roll for our sneak/chance and for input
>>28043753Yeah, we should just prepare.Everyone seems to be in agreement that, if the bugs suddenly swarm us, we'll use Icy Wind and have Goldenrod use a smoke bomb, although for that latter action, we really will need to coordinate with everyone first. No need to rush, though. Panicked actions will reflect poorly of us; better to coordinate and act as a team.
>Action: Lay Low for now>Chance: 96- Remarkable. The four of you stay low to the forest floor as the two things fiddle with the other's antennae. They do so for a short time, seeming to communicate whatever need be and then swiftly fly off, splitting up and tending to the rest of the kakunes.Janine motions for everyone to move on, though quietly and slowly. As the four of you move, Bruise notices a bug that's in the path of Goldenrod, and gives him a quick gesture to move around it. As you move past you take a quick look at the thing as it nibbles away at a fallen leaf, a large pink wishbone antennae bouncing from its head as it does so.Despite you three passing so close, the repel tech seems to work, it doesn't see you at all.In short time, the four of you see the last Kakuna of the immediate perimeter and finally take a breath of relief."That was a close call, they would've been all over us and forced us to run." Janine whispers while looking back, opening up her own index," Once more, our quarry is near water, I've lost our bearing, Goldenrod, can you-""We need to head Northwest," Bruise points in a direction, despite the cover of the canopy," It's this way.Janine's insectoid eyes gleam at Bruise with restrained irritation," How can you be so sure?""Brock trained us to always orient ourselves. Simple." The Gray boy smiles," I didn't just learn how to fight after all."Janine closes her index," Neither did I. We will go your way, though I'd still like Goldenrod to check." Janine gives the Saffron a nod, and he instantly grows meek."You sure? I think he's right, I'm pretty sure that he's right.""Do not question me Goldenrod, this is part of your duty. You're best here at recon."
A small smile traces across the boy's face, something in her words touching him, and yet it quickly fades into a frown as some other dark thought passes into him," Right, it's all I'm good for. Be back in five."Goldenrod looks up at the trees, and in a subdued flash of energy, he vanishes. As you watch everything unfold, your mind wanders back to the kakuna from before. A threat to be exterminated right? Does Janine know?>Bring up extermination.>Hold your peace.(Move on)>Write in.>1d100

>>28044008Yeah, she isn't even a ranger yet. Let's ask, along with this>>28043950
>>28043981Bring it up this way. Don't just go and slaughter them, but let her know.

>>28043940It's like this kid doesn't even know he's going to be the second most powerful Gen 1 pokemon, Alakazam, short only to Mewtwo Himself, long may his psychic majesty be so broken, it necessitated the introduction of Dark types.
>>28044032It is just a kid who is like one year older than us.>>28044057The self hate is only there so that he doesn't turn into a pompous ass upon evolution
>>28044057Mew is actually stronger than Alakazam.
>>28044057Right now, many of the characters are still in the process of forming their personalities. It's our job as the MC to lead them towards a proper direction.
>>28044078Well strength in this world is very skewed. As a charizard can put out flames almost 4 times as hot as the surface of the sun and would atmoize everything in a few mile radius
>>28044057He'll also get a bitching mustache when he evolves, which is going to be pretty awesome.
Rolled 15>>28044078Not really. Alakazam has higher speed and special, making it a much better psychic user.Mew on the other hand was more versatile but had worse stats. It kinda balances out.
>>28044106I know, right?>>28044078No, Mew really, really isn't, except in a lore standpoint MAYBE, and the fact that although its relevant stats are weak, it can pick whatever move is most effective versus psychics, depending on generation. >Speed and gen1 Special 4 lyfe, nigga
>>28044115In game stats aren't the most relevant things, pokedex descriptions are more important.
>>28044078Lorewise, Mew is like the original pokemon Arceus created. Lorewise, Alakazam is over 9000 supercomputers, and will predict everything Mew ever would or could do, before MEw knows what it can or cannot achieve.I'd say that gives Alakafuckyoshit a lil' advantage, personally.
>>28044140yeah, cause this>>28044095his ATT and your DEF/SPEED/WHATEVER do not matter in the slightest
>>28044130Considering that pokemon don't have an arbitrary four move limit in this quest, does that mean that Mew knows All The Moves?
Rolled 45>>28044140The post about mewtwo and alakazam was refering to the R/B/Y generation of game.In this quest, you are most likely right but in the game, Alakazam was better than mew.
>>28044162That's one of the few things i could think of that actually WOULD give Mew a definite advantage. Alakazam is just so goddamn fast though, both in body and in mind/decisionmaking speed/reflexes. OHKO, almost certainly. IF mew lives, it might pull a win with a super effective move though.
>>28044115If its stats we're talking about then mew is still superior
>>28044208not really, Mew is a better all-rounder, but Alakazam is better at its role.
>>28044159Mew, Quoted from Silver pokedex, the first entry that speaks to its actual abilities and not just appearance/rarity."Its DNA is said to contain the genetic codes of all Pokémon, so it can use all kinds of techniques. "Alakazam, quoted from Red: "Its brain can outperform a super-computer. Its intelligence quotient is said to be 5,000."One of these things is an actual ability. One of these things is pretty irrelevant if you dont achieve the first strike. >>28044208Mew total stats: 600. Alakazam total stats: 490. There is some merit there.Mew is a jack of all trades master of none, though. Alakazam is specialized in killing you immediately and mercilessly. If you have good well rounded stats but die on turn 1, you still suck though.
Rolled 53>>28044208No.Mew had an higher stat total, but none of his stats were high enough to be remarkable.Alakazam had 135 in special and and 120 in speed, which is what you want in a special sweeper.Mew only had 100 in special and speed. Mew was a bit tougher and more versatile, but Alakazam was much faster and stronger.
>>28044095Okay where is this coming from?I've looked through all Charizard's pokedex lines and they are>Spits fire that is hot enough to melt boulders. Known to cause forest fires unintentionally.>When expelling a blast of super hot fire, the red flame at the tip of its tail burns more intensely.>If CHARIZARD becomes furious, the flame at the tip of its tail flares up in a whitishblue color.>Breathing intense, hot flames, it can melt almost anything. "Um, Janine?"Your voice squeaks out, as you fall under her intense glare,"What is it?""I, um.." You look back to the wood from which you came, "Kakunes. The Index says that we should, um." You squirm under the older girl's gaze as she says nothing."We should ex-exterminate them..."Janine's human eyes go wide before she slaps herself in the head, sucking in air with a hiss. "Crap, you're right, we should go back. We need to get rid of them or we'll run into them again on the way out. Unless we take another way out. Then we might just-"Janine's face begins to flush red as she snaps her vision back into the Beedrill wood.Bruise seems slightly amused by her display, and you can't help but suppress a small smile as you point out her error."Without any dangers in this part, we move back to exterminate the Kakunes and Beedrills."Janine nods, and slides a dagger from her pouch, an attached wire glistening slightly in sparse rays of sun.Goldenrod returns and you all prepare.>Engagement imminent>Battle: Beedrill Swarm(x2 known)/Kakuna backup.>Preparation?>Bruise equips Iron Cestus for close combat.>Goldenrod will run safety teleportation to save from lethal stings.>Repel tech will be turned off squad-wide once engagement begins.>Janine will throw wires to entangle the flyers. >>28044267OP said it in another thread
Rolled 61>>28044277Get our Bident ready.Plan a group escape strategy with Janine consisting of icy wind followed by smokebomb.
>>28044277We all have flint and tinders, right? We should try to start a controlled fire, since Beedrills are weak towards fire and the smoke will choke them.
>>28044277Get in Mid-range area and use our ice wind on them, it should be able to affect most of the Beedrill
>>28044317that could ...backfire and is counter to our natural super-effective attack of freezing their shit.
>>28044277ask about any AOE attacks. tell them we will create a wide range Ice Wind and sustain.tell janine that we don't have anti poison so if we get sting then someone needs to help us
>>28044306No I didn't.
>>28044355i could swear you did.
>>28044338Just going by the monster index entry. But that is right; we'd probably get dehydrated much faster.>>28044277If we can spare one of the four smoke bombs we have, we should use it to choke the insects.
>>28044277We'll obviously hit groups with Icy Wind. If I remember correctly Beedrill's are protective of Kakuna, so we may be able to lure all of the Beedrill to one location by setting something up that hurts one of them and hiding nearby. Once they gather together we can drop them with Janine's wires wrapped around them and the area they've gathered to keep them from splitting up or heading straight towards us, and throwing Icy Wind at them over and over until they die. Also we don't want to be blindsided by Beedrills coming from directions we aren't expecting, getting them bunched up makes it easier to avoid reinforcements coming in from somewhere we aren't expecting and means we can take them all out with AoE attacks and the like.>>28044343We have an antidote and can Hydrate in water if we need to.
>>28044267Also does this mean that most of the time when Charizard kills everything, it doesn't even breathe fire to do so?
>>28044385smoke doesn't hurt them, just drives them into a frenzy. our Icy Wind on the other hand will to lots of damage to all of them. all we have to do is keep it about ground level and we are fine
Hand a smoke bomb off to Goldenrod, have him teleport it and deposit it underneath the Kakunas. The beedrills will be drawn to protect them and get drowsy.Thats when we strike.
>>28044412oh jeeze that's terrifying
>>28044277For these two suggestions>>28044313>>28044329We should probably focus on Bruise as the 'spear tip' of our attack. As the fastest and most agile one among us (sans Janine; we don't really know how quickly she can move), he'd be able to draw their attention and escape from them easier than any one of us.Once he draws them in, we can hit them with an Icy Wind, and he can charge through them to escape and simultaneously scatter them.>>28044413>drives them into a frenzyIs this a real life insect thing? Since I thought smoke was supposed to be bad for insects.
>>28044431i thought smoke (when not contained inside something) irritates insects in their drive to avoid it.it puts bees to sleep though so i am not quite sure
Rolled 12>>28044431If they are already grouped, we could open with icy wind and have Bruise run in afterward, in order to not hit Bruise with our icy wind.
we should have informed janine that our biology naturally recovers from things like poison and paralysis with hydration, so she should consider that before using whatever supplies she uses for her own techniques.>>28044447opening with icy wind is a good idea, we might want to have bruise go full defense if the type chart is in full effect, since fighting is 1/4 effective against bug/poison, though how one differentiates from a fighting strike and a 'normal' strike is up in the air.
>>28044447Ah, for some reason, I didn't think about Bruise.Okay, redo:>>28044277Have Goldenrod draw them in and teleport out of harms way. We use Icy Wind on them, then Bruise can charge through them to scatter and confuse them.
Rolled 40So combingin ideas so far, we could have Grumpy teleport a smoke bomb inside of a cluster of kakuna to attract the beedrills attention prior to turning off our repel tek. Once they are all grouped together, we can use icy wind on them, either freezing them or at least slowing them down in their tracks long enough for Janine or Rock Lee to finish them off. Holdenrod can still teleport in if anybody needs help and we can provide support with water gun if necesarey.Good plan?Y/Y
Rolled 76>>28044490>>28044485I hope bruise learned some ground or rock type move from his internship at Pewter city gym.Actually, lets ask him that.

You share you idea with the others, and Janine approves of it, with a rather impressed smirk,"That's some good thinking Cerulean, I like it." You grip your spear as everyone takes positions, Goldenrod does so dutifully with a bit of warmth from his roll in the plan. You set up from a decent vantage point within the wood, a slightly open part that allows you sight of Goldenrod's mark.Janine laces trees with her wired knives, setting up a snare for the would-be stingers. Her actions seem to trigger curious responses from the Bees as they move about to investigate the knife swishings through the air. Bruise approaches low, ready to pounce upon the two lone guard drones that tend to the cocooned threats. On a whistle, Janine signals the start of the attack and a smoke-bomb detonates at the center of the forest, sending out a wide and obscuring layer of smoke. The Bees are driven into a frenzy, driving forth into the center, to find nothing but the cover as Goldenrod ports to the outside, Janine signals to you, and you unleash a torrent of your icy wind, hissing through the woods with a mighty gale, frosting over the leaves and chilling the insects' slow blood to a crawl as the bite of your chill takes them.As they begin to lazily seek an escape, they are entangled by the wires, suffering further abuse as Bruise meets their strugglings amidst the wake of the cold air with a brutal fist, dashing one of them apart. At that; Janine drives in as well, leaping from tree to tree within a blink of your eye, slicing through the guardian drones. You feel a pressure upon your mind, seeing Goldenrod as you turn, seeing that he's come to watch you," It went well." He gives you a small smile. You give a deep sigh of relief as it all passes over smoothly, the sound of crumbling shells heard through the wood as the creatures die from your squad's strategy.

Creeping out from the clearing with your squad-mate in tow, you search the forest for survivors, seems that their all dead, all the cocoons are broken, or nearly breaking. One still squirms, partially alive. You thrust your bident forward, skewering the thing as it tries to escape from its shell. The electricity kicks in, the thing shrieks, and then dies, roasted alive. You relax, letting your Bident hang down at your side, feeling the pleasant chill of the air wash over your body, a good thing. The heat was terrible. You suddenly hear another little shriek, as your bident flares up and an oppressive stench hits your nostrils, sprayed over your body, as a green worm with pink antennae squirms into death."Augh! By Arceus, it stinks!" You cover your nose, wincing your eyes closed as it hits you so hard that the world goes fuzzy, spinning right along with the roiling of your stomach."Ceru was hit by a Caterpie!" Bruise calls as he rushes over to you, stopping just short of the smell and turning right around, on guard,"We need to go to the water now!" His voice is louder than usual, oh Arceus why is it so loud, it will...You see the flicker of Janine land besides you, mutually on guard, back to you," Not so loud Bruise, you'll attract others. This area is compromised. We need to move now, Goldenrod, can you teleport us?""Only one.""Damn," Janine curses under her breath. "She's hit with the stink, she'll attract others if it isn't washed off and covered with something to-"Something moves from the bushes, curious and predatory eyes peeking out, Janine slides the flat of a knife across her skin and launches it into the face of one, making it recoil and hiss horribly. "Get her out of here now Goldenrod!""But-"The wounded creature growls, and others begin to breach. Snakes, and other bug-like eyes lurch forward."Get her out of here!" Bruise yells this time as one of the snakes lunges for one of his legs, receiving a smashed head in return.

You groan out, as you feel yourself beginning to heave, the potent odor taking its toll on you, generating a queasy, nauseous feeling.Janine's blades hands flicker through the air like magic as she takes down a pair of lunging rats, her foul poisonous sweat glimmering off of her blades and neck."Lake. Go!" She shouts. You feel a hand upon your shoulder, and suddenly your perspective changes as you and Goldenrod float upon the air for a brief moment before you two begin to fall."Hold on-" A quick and silent mutter from the boy as the same thing happens again, your location is vastly displaced, and you've got a hang-time again."Three... more." He groans out through gritted teeth. You hope it isn't your team.Several seconds later, the world shifts again, and you're next to a lake, coughing on your own bile as the stench still pervades your nostrils. Not far, you see Goldenrod heaving as he touches his index, his form shifting as he turns his repel tech back on.You look to your own wrist groggily, and touch the option, engaging your system. >>28046412Considering the quest material, I'd say yes.Though in this case it makes no sense, since the Caterpie stink repelled something instead of attracting it.

>>28046485It says 5 in the pastebin.>1d100 is for matters of chance. This can cause unexpectedly good things to happen, or horridly bad events to occur. >>28046509oooops, ignore dice
>>28046429to find the chance of something happening repeatedly you raise the probability to the nth power, n being the number of trials. In this case you find the probability of rolling 7 dice above 10, which is .90^7 = 0.4782969. I was looking for the chance of this not happening, so you take the inverse, 0.5217031
>>28046529i'm not going by the pastebini am going by what he has been doing since thread 1
>>28046489Yeah I know, it's just that it was implied that when we got that Caterpie stink on us, it was what attracted the horde of Caterpie, Weedle, Rattata, and Ekans. And yet it scared away the Farfetch'd, for some reason. Also considering how nauseous we currently are, I'm not sure we're in the condition to catch it?You seem to be saying we should try, though that could just be because you want more failure.
>>28046509It would be better to do something that would make it easier to followLike using Water Gun on it... with some of the caterpie liquid.
>>28046554we should probably wash off first

>>28046585We definitely need to do it, though. It summoned a horde on us earlier on. It would be rash to ignore the danger it posses. What the Professor is doing to us right now is a common trope where the prize is being dangled right before us, but reaching out for it will cause us more harm than good.Tagging the Farfetch'd in this situation is a smarter solution.
>>28046583Ymfw the stink on Farfetch'd leads other predators to attack it.
>>28046559Wait so how are we actually going to accomplish doing that?Lick ourselves to get some of it in our mouth, and hope it contaminates our water enough?
>>28046618why would we tag it with the stink? that would just get it killed
>>28046635>>28046632Or away from it, since it seems to work both ways for some reason.

In your woozy state, you put two and two another and try to think, think... what can you do to mark it?Squinting hard to focus your vision, you think to your own horrid stench, how easy it was for the other monsters to seek out. A slow nod rocks your vision, yes, yes, that thought makes sense, you could do that.Crushing your eyes together, you take a lip of the horrid, bitter death spray upon your clothes and in the next moment spray a diluted solution of the caterpie stink at the fleeing waterfowl, rocking it midflight, and causing it to look back, bewildered as it flutters away even more hurriedly than before. Then you see it, as a smile traces across your face. >>28046928>>28046952It wouldn't hurt to check the entry on our index before we do that, though. Gotta double check.
>>28046928Might suffocate or something. Also I don't think we brought THAT much rope.So is the plan to chill by the lakeside with the bird and Goldenrod, and hope that our other two allies are able to reach us?
>>28046989We'll want to make sure we're well hidden, but yes. And waiting for Janine and Bruise will give Goldenrod time to recover.
>>28046968Well we need to restrain it first.Which might be difficult. It effectively got a 20.
>>28046989Wait a sec. If another team find us with the bird tied, could they try to steal it from us?

>>28047010Yep. Which is why we need to find somewhere to hide.
>>28047034Yeah, turning in the bird and the leek would be glorious for us, but it would be kinda a dick move, as one team will fail because of it.
>>28047034Which, I don't know, we might wind up doing. When I think of being invited to Giovanni's for dinner, I can't help but picture that catgirl being perched on his lap and being petted, and we'd have to pretend that nothing was weird about that.Just seems really awkward.
>>28047055We did say we wanted to be the very best and the very best would turn in both.

She fumbles tracing her fingers together," Do your very best kids!" The Young woman gives the recruits a wink and damn near skips away and back to her "master."Also, would it being a boy make it any less creepy?I'm talking about this creepy.
>>28047112You have a point. It could be a test to see if we value personal glory higher than the wellbeing of our colleague.
With the quarry hitting the water, so do you too dive into the the water, your nose plugs itself reflexively, having learned from your past mistakes in the gym.Your second eyelids fold over, giving you goggle-like vision as you surge forth beneath the waves, your mind clearing up with the soothing presence of water. You see the light of the sun play across the water's surface through the slight murk of the water. The webbed orange and green feet of your prize is within reach...In a flash, you grab it, from the body, around the wings and grasping around its throat as you pull it under the water. A hand wraps around its beak, keeping it from losing any air as it thrashes wildly, trying to get a grasp on its stick. With precision that you've learned fighting underwater, you manage to loosen the leek from the grip of its wings, suffer only a few pecks, and give it a quick concussive blast of water to knock it out.Dragging your quarry from the water, you feel a sense of triumph as it drips wetly, watering the damp earth. Using a knot that you'd been shown in general training, you manage to bind its beak and feet with string, and lace up its wings with your length of rope. Wary of the stick, you stick it in your bag, stowing it away. With a sniff, you find that the tribulations within the lake have about washed off the smell, replacing it with a nice mossy, aquatic smell. One that reminds you fondly of your gym. It's not even half a day in and you've already secured the target. You smile to yourself, even giggling a little.
>>28047112>>28047157it would be a shitty test, since the premise is that of a test of skill, and we would be allowing someone to pass on our beneficence instead of their own merit.
>>28047152No, no, not at all.>>28047157That's not the only way to interpret it. It might also be the dichotomy between how much mercy we're willing to show mercy and how much we respect/adhere to the rules.

>>28048003I'm going for complete the mission and then going to find her.
>>28048044>>28048065Have you guys checked the map? It took us half the day to get to where we were (before we separated from everyone else). It would take too much time.Janine is only 1 year older than us. She's a part of our team and she's the grand daughter of one of our mother's associates. We gotta save her.
> Find Janine!
>>28048003Complete the mission and then head back to search for Janine. She might of been one of those that used the flair.
>>28048091and if we can't do that we should at least recover her body.
>>280480912 years. She's 12. TOTALLY MATURE GUYS
>>28048091Pretty much this.Plus it could vaguely considered our fault that she got into this mess. We'll need to find her.
>>28048091It took us like an hour to get this far. She has a flair and poison immunity, she ain't gonna die
>>28048101when we get to real missions or training sessions that cinnabars aren't restricted from due to fire hazard.
>>28048140That was because of Goldenrod's teleport, something that exhausted him, that he can only do with one other person, and something we might not want to push him on.
>>28048140It said in the Professor's posts that half a day has passed by.And she has flair and poison immunity. Whoopie. That means she won't die from that stuff. There are other dangers, you know.
>>28048134After dropping it off. The most dangerous thing here is poison and she is immune, and she has a flair, and some of her own bitchin poison
>>28048046Flare gun is forfeit.>>28048065I can't let it be too easy. Come on, you want an earned dinner with Giovanni, right?>>28048091It's less than half a day. In three days you should be able to safely traverse the map. It's been about 4 hours, from a start at noon and going into afternoon.>>28048140It's true, she's a ninja, and a toxicologist. One more time with discussions in mind.> Deliver target- then find Janine.> Search for Janine with target in tow.
>>28048164We didn't start at dawn, it was probably like 10:00 by the time we got through the gates
>>28048172>>[X] Deliver target- then find Janine.
>>28048172>> Deliver target- then find Janine. We can't really look for Janine with a captured pokemon on our back.Besides, she can survive on her own for a while, considering her skills.
> Search for Janine with target in tow.
>>28048172Deliver then find
>>28048172Do all of us have to leave the forest to pass the test?Like could we just rendezvous with Bruce Lee, and give him the target, and then find Janine?
>>28048172>It's less than half a day. In three days you should be able to safely traverse the map. It's been about 4 hours, from a start at noon and going into afternoon. Is our goal not to return to the starting point? Didn't Janine say that one of the reasons why we destroyed the beedrill nest was so that we could go back through it when we on our way out?Anyway>Search for target with Janine in towBruise can easily lift the Farfetch'd.
>>28048172>>[x] Search for Janine with target in tow.We have a while remaining on the clock, and the longer we leave a friend out on her own the more likely she will to get into trouble she won't be able to get out of.
>>28048172Deliver target, find JNot that interested in dinner with Giovanni but making friends with the cute reverse trap meowth mod would be cool and possibly life saving down the line
>>28048212>>Search for target with Janine in towPfft, whaaat. Well, you know what I mean.
>>28048172Can we take a minute to take a picture of the Farfetch'd and its leek with our Index?I vaguely recall that we were supposed to do that.
>>28048212We just have to return to the edge. he said three days to give us some perspective
>>28048212If the beedrill are gone, you don't need to worry about them on the way out.Any exit will do, though the same is familiar terrain.
>>28048172>>[x] Deliver target- then find Janine.
>>28048219Pretty much this.I hope no one here is naive enough to think nothing wrong will happen to Janine if we leave her to fend for herself.Rescue her and we become better known among the gyms. Even if our reputation with the higher ups isn't good, we'll still reap the benefits of being known as someone who cares for her team mates.
>>28048172> Deliver target- then find Janine
>>28048172[X] Deliver target- then find Janine.
>>28048236Why can't we just rendevouz with Bruise and have him or Goldenrod (if he's sufficiently recovered by that time) deliver the Farfetch'd back on his own?
>>28048248Reputation wise it is better to focus on finishing first. And she can survive for a few hours, she has done this before
>>28048262Goldenrod is out for 18 hours. Abra biology.
>>28048172>Search for Janine with target in tow.The sooner we find her the sooner we leave.
>>28048270... So do we drop him off to?
>>28048172>[X] Search for Janine with target in tow.Honestly Giovanni kind of creeps me out.
>>28048262Yeah, the fastest one among us could deliver the bird alone while we start searching.>>28048267Also this. She isn't in immediate danger, being immune to poison and a skilled ninja.Wait, didn't he say she was sprayed by a caterpie? Won't she be looking for a sourc of water then?We could take a look around the lake if anything.
>>28048267She had a team with her before. Why would you assume that Janine was left on her own when she took the test? And you don't understand what I mean by reputation. Yes, we'll be more famous for being the first to accomplish, but what I was talking about was a reputation for being altruistic.>>28048281He could still be useful as a scout. He's apparently able to see away from his body (like when he saw us capture the Farfetch'd in the lake even though we left him somewhere else). He's also pretty light.
>>28048287>We could take a look around the lake if anything.This.Janine could be heading towards our position right now, since this is the only source of water that she knows of.
>>28048287>Won't she be looking for a sourc of water then?>We could take a look around the lake if anything.Actually yeah, shouldn't she be headed in our direction?
>>28048303>>28048287If it's like this, it'd be easier for us to look for her first rather than delivering the target and returning for her.
>>28048172Deliver then go find her She was trained by Koga, she will be fine. Hello she may be insulted that we didn't take it back first
IMPORTANT QUESTIONDuring our training, did they emphasize our comrades first, or the mission?
>>28048303Though the fact that she isn't could mean that she ran into trouble.Ask Bruise to head towards our location and see if he runs into her?
>>28048303>>28048298The other 2 sources of water seem fairly far away, so she is probably relatively close nearby.Or at least she knows that we will think that way and head toward us.
>>28048172>>28048303Let's compromise. If Janine is heading towards a source of water, she's probably going towards our direction. Let's spend some time searching for any signs of her first before we deliver the duck. With Goldenrod's apparent psychic sight (or, at least, his ability to sense the minds of nearby humans), we might be able to catch her as she comes upon us.
>>28048321During our trainings where they got all the groups from the various gyms together we were praised when we created some bonds with another team instead of just hanging out in our own water clique
>>28048311That doesn't make sense.And she's 12 and only has a Venonat implant.
>>28048172>> Search for Janine with target in tow.perhaps Goldenrod might be able to try and sense her even while he sleeps, he can communicate and sense his immediate surroundings. worth a shot. just sensing for human minds nearby is important anyways. If it is singular than it is probably janine, if there are multiple we want to hide in case of opportunistic competition.even if janine or even a ranking ranger chastised us for choosing to look for her, I would say it is in character to say the target is just a stupid duck, but janine could have gotten hurt for real.
>>28048311It wasn't stated that she was trained by Koga in this story.Unless you think being related to him means he trained her. If that's so, then one could say we were trained by Lorelei too.
>>28048321Depends on the gym.Misty taught comrades first. For those believing she's near. She's not responding to the short range com.
>>28048337Not that person, but looking for her implies that we believe that is danger and thus not skilled enough to survive on her own. Ninja generally put a lot of importance on autonomy and independence.
>>28048352He's the head of the Fuschia gym. Saying he didn't train her is like saying we weren't trained by Misty.
>>28048362We're not a ninja.>>28048360That's not a good sign, since she should have headed towards us.
>>28048360Which means she's either in danger or it's damaged.>>28048369It wasn't stated that he was the head in this story, though. He's either the head or he's already part of the Elite 4.
>>28048360Are you writing? Cause it's pretty clear deliver then search won
>>28048383No, but she is and probably doesn't like the idea of being rescued.
>>28048387>It wasn't stated that he was the head in this story, though. He's either the head or he's already part of the Elite 4.Janine is the one that takes over when he joins the E4. Her being a 12 year old and not the gym leader kinda blows holes in Koga not being the Koga leader.
>>28048383Prof specifically stated she was a Ninja
>>28048360Ask Bruise over the radio what direction she went.
>>28048402Aren't you just assuming things? As we saw from our earlier interaction with her prior to the beedrill nest extermination, she's not infallible. She's a rookie.
>>28048392I don't think it has.>>28048399And that matters why? Goldenrod wouldn't like being rescued either, and would that stop us?
>>28048413How is "Janine is not the gym leader" an assumption?
>>28048399>>28048421This guy has a point.Pride means nothing before the safety of our team mate.
>>28048413Yeah this. She can make mistakes, we just saw that.
>>28048421A little vote counting shows that it has. A few loud arguers doesn't mean a lot of people
>>28048428Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to quote you.>>28048399>>28048413This other guy was the one I'm talking to.
>>28048437Ugh fine. Can we at least keep an eye out for her on the way back?
>>28048172>[X] Search for Janine with target in tow.Find her first.
>>28048437There's enough of an opposition to it to keep discussion going, I think.
>>28048435>>28048430>>28048421We aren't waiting because of pride. If we were then we wouldn't come back at all. We're delivering it first cause we know she can handle herself and we know that we will be next to useless dragging around a bag ass bird and a sleeping kid
>>28048463>We're delivering it first cause we know she can handle herself and we know that we will be next to useless dragging around a bag ass bird and a sleeping kidWe don't know that she can handle herself. That's a supposition of yours that has no grounding in the story. We do know that she can make mistakes, however. That her head is not always in the game.
Sorry for the pause, I need to run a quick errand. Will update when I get back and close thread.Gimme a 1d100 for chance.
>>28048456If this isn't samefagging then I don't know what is. Two cases of it infact
Rolled 81>>28048471>Get 100>Find Janine immediately.
Rolled 85>>28048471Rolling bones!
>>28048463I think step one would be to have Bruise Lee come to our location, to help carry Goldenrod and the Farfetch'd.And if by that time, he hasn't seen any signs of Janine, nor has she shown up to our location, we can decide what to do from there.Sound like a compromise?
Rolled 37>>28048472rollin for chance
>>28048472The timing is too close, however.
>>28048469Prof even said that she could. That she is a ninja and a toxicologist. Undoubtedly trained by her very strict/traditional grandfather. And has spent a minimum of 2 and a half years training
>>28048498That doesn't translate to her being able to take care of herself. She is a rookie. Just like us. A senior by 2 years, but that means nothing unless she's shown us that she can take care of herself.
>>28048497Meant two different samefaggers
>>28048509If she was appointed squad leader then she obviously has
>>28048510True, but if you're going to assume that, we can pretty much say the same for the other posts as well. Without definitive proof, we can only believe in one another's integrity.
>>28048526It was just the fact that they came so far after he asked for votes. And right after I mentioned that the opposing side won in votes
>>28048520And she just showed us in this very thread that she isn't.She was appointed squad leader because she passed the previous test. That's it.
>>28048520And we were able to beat an esper on our first try.But did that stop us from freezing our own throat shut with ice and almost dying?
>>28048538Yes, but that's what you call situational evidence (I think).
>>28048541No, they would not make someone a squad leader just for passing. That isn't how things like that work. There is 1 squad leader to every 3 rookies. That means that she is atleast in the top third of her class, not counting anything else
>>28048569You do remember that some people die from this test, right?
>>28048564Often times reliable
>>28048574Very few. They have espresso on standby to immediately teleport in right to your location. If the mortality rate was anything significant then they wouldn't do it
>>28048576I can say the same thing about the earlier votes as well, since many of them lack any actual content to them. You just need to trust, anon.
>>28048593Yeah, I was just pointing out the obvious conclusion.till we use SM style voting to prevent samefagging
>>28048591The gist of what I'm saying is that; how many from her batch are still around?I can see that you're eager to get the prize and have Cerulean be praised, but that doesn't mean we should just disregard the safety of our team mates. And it's just too naive to think that nothing wrong will happen to Janine if we ignore her (especially since we can't contact her and she should have been heading towards our direction; we AGREED to rendezvous there earlier on, after all). If nothing bad happens to her, that's great, but why would that be our first assumption?
>>28048607It doesn't matter now, because I still maintain that regardless what we later decide on, we should ask Bruise Lee to head towards the lake, so he can help carry Goldenrod and Farfetch'd.
Rolled 31>>28048471>>28048479>>28048480>>28048481>>28048490>>28048493>>28048631Here's the last roll to make a nice 7.
>>28048631Well if it's best out of five you did a very great job there.
>>28048631Is this roll 5 since >>28048490replied to the wrong post?
>>28048652Going by the pattern in this threadWhen it comes to chance, it's best of 7. When it comes to the "danger zone", it's best of 5.
Oh god please hurry professorI just want the next update so this retarded argument can stop and we find out what we need to do nexr
>>28048693He's out on an errand right now.
With a heavy heart you mull over your next move carefully as you glance at the captured farfetch'd. Your luck and hard work.. It can't all be for nothing, and Bruise has a point here, at the very least, you need to return the target. Janine can take care of herself, at least for a while."B, we're going to return to the gate. We'll look for J after. She better be okay... Over.""You and G return. I'll look for her. Over." You feel a weight lifted from your shoulder, as the mantle of responsibility is passed."Ah, yes. G is um he's asleep. G is asleep, so that's for the best, right?" O-over.""He's out?""Sort of.""For the best then. Meet you at the gate. B out."The radio goes silent, and you feel a stir from the latent wild-life around after the radio chatter. Almost as though they "heard" it. It seems that you'd been brief enough that they've ignored you.You open up your index and snap a couple pictures of Farfetch'd."Note: It is repelled by Caterpie stink when approached with stealth tech. When hit by the smell, it uh.. Washes itself off. End Record." You close the index.(So, Janine is missing? Serves that wretched bug)"Shut up Grumpy. You can talk to me that way, but you can't talk about Janine."You hoist up the water fowl with a short rope, heaving up its weight with some struggle,"Now, for you..."(Please.) The Esper child disappears, and you feel a weight bear upon your back suddenly as he grasps you for a piggyback."I guess that works."(I'll teleport if there's danger. I'll try for both of us.)"Thanks Grumpy!) You flare your nostrils as you huff out the obnoxious atmosphere, doing your best to ignore the nearly tropical heat of this wretched place.Trudging onward to the goal, you're nearing completion of the mission...> End Thread>Next time will be posted on Twitter.
>>28048775Thanks for the cool story, professor.
>>28048775Oh good.Especially since he's a lot stronger and faster than we are, and just being in an environment this wet and humid tires us out.
>>28048775Thanks for the game. And archived, folks:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28043165/Until next time!
>>28048775Next time on AoPHQWill we be even cuter? Will we save Janine? Is there a cuteness limit before we suddenly perform infinite hug works and make the world better?Find out next time professor decides to run!
>>28048800Like while someone looking for her is the right thing to do, we really aren't suited for it.
>>28048850Someone was talking about compromising a while ago. I don't understand why that was ignored.
Welp. Now that the threads over, have a 5 min doodle.
>>28049026Looks older than 10. Still cute though
