It is 7PM, on October 25, 2043.In 15 minutes, you're supposed to met with the love of your life for a date.Instead, your blood is spilling onto the asphalt, painting the ground with rivulets of red, while you lie battered and broken on the ground, rain coming down like bullets. Company goons are walking down the gray, damp alleyway, and sooner or later, one of them is going to find you in your miserable, drenched state, and put a bullet in your skull. As you lay there, contemplating your fate, your commlink buzzes with an alarm, text popping up on screen."DATE WITH HER IN 15 MIN. YOU CAN DO IT!"Clutching the commlink in your hand, you look down the alley. Any minute now, they're going to find you. What would you like to do?>call her, and cancel that date. Apologize. Then hold off these goons as long as you can.>tell her you're going to be a little bit late, but you'll make it up somehow.>muster up what strength you have, and book it into the streets. You're not going to be late.>other option. ( If you have something else in mind, this is the option you choose, and state what.)
>>27950997> muster up what strength you have, and book it into the streets. You're not going to be late.
Option 3, my nigga. Love waits for no man.
>>27950997>muster up what strength you have, and book it into the streets. You're not going to be late.
>>27950997We ain't missing that date. Book it!
>>27951004>>27951011>>27951024>>27951158Slipping the commlink into your pocket, you take a deep breath, and slowly crawl to your feet. Your insides burn like a thousand flaming hornets are on a rampage inside, but you grit your teeth and bare it. Clutching your side, you stumble away to the streets. Behind you, you can hear the company goons firing at you, but you ignore them. You've got a date to catch. So why did you take this mission?Memories flood back from a few days ago, when this all started.“Ask her out, man. What have you got to lose?”You were in a small diner, sipping at a mug of hot coffee, awaiting a man who has a mission for your team, and trying very hard not to stare at that waitress you have a crush on. At the time, your teammate, Adam, was slapping you on the back, and egging you on to somehow ask this girl out. You looked at the only female of the team, Twitch, but she shrugged, and looked out the window.“Leave me out of this.”You sighed inwardly, and turned back to Adam, saying:>”I'll do it. But after we go through this mission briefing.>”No. the less people who know we were here, the better.”>”I'll do it. Hold my coffee.”>other option.
>>27951196> ”No. the less people who know we were here, the better.”Nice to have you back, Rbroker.

>>27951222>>27951233>>27951304>>27951312>ask her out, only after mission briefingA man arrives at the table, very clean in his modern, stylish suit, a stark contrast to the rundown, faded diner. Sitting down at the table, he pulls a datachip out of his pocket, and places it in front of you.“I need a small package delivered from Queens all the way to the heart of Manhattan. I am paying you for a delivery within 1 day of picking up the package. Half up front, Half when you deliver, no questions asked. Pickup location and destination is on this chip.”His sudden, terse delivery leaves you no room for questions, and you get the feeling he wouldn't answer any, anyway. You look at your teammates, who both nod, and you place a napkin with numbers down at the table.“That's our fee, and our account number below it. Acceptable?” You say to the man, who merely nods, his face showing nothing. He makes a few taps on his commlink, and leaves the table, without saying another word.“Nice doing business with you too, asshole.” Adam mutters under his breath, but you ignore him, reaching for the chip. However, before you can grab it, Adam snatches it from the table.“It's showtime, Face.”here it goes.Clutching your coffee, you compose yourself. How are you going to do this?>Cocky: “Are you single? Do you find me attractive? What's your excuse for not kissing me right now?”>Funny: Trip in front of here, and say, “That's the fastest I've ever fallen for someone.”>Straightforward: “Hey, I know we just met, but I was wondering, do you want to grab some coffee or something after this?”>Other option.
>>27951399> Straightforward: “Hey, I know we just met, but I was wondering, do you want to grab some coffee or something after this?”

>>27951399>Cocky: “Are you single? Do you find me attractive? What's your excuse for not kissing me right now?”Let's not forget that we are an asshole.
>>27951421>>27951483You walk over to her, a faint smile on her face, and ask her in her most casual voice,> “Hey, I know we just met, but do you want to grab some coffee or something after this?”The waitress gave you a smile, and you grinned, before you realized it was the sad, apologetic smile of someone who wishes to lessen the wound she is forced to make.“I'm sorry, but I have a family.”You felt your confidence deflate like a recently popped balloon, and you slink away to the table, clutching a coffee that you no longer have any interest in drinking.“So how'd it go, champ?” Adam said, a big grin on his face.“She has a family.” You muttered, staring despondently into the distance. In retrospect, it was a good thing she said no. Otherwise, how would you have met her?As you rush down the crowded street, clutching you stomach wound, you check your gun. Three shots left. Looking behind you, you can see seven men pushing their way through the crowd. If you were Adam, you could do something crazy, and escape unscathed.Hell, if you were Adam, you wouldn't even have to deal with this situation right now.Unfortunately... you aren't.How are you going to try and escape the men?>hijack a vehicle, and speed away.>take as many down as possible, and book it.>Duck into a store, take down the first one to come in, and get a gun that has more than three bullets.>Other Option.

>>27951570Ah, wait... We are currently playing one of the SANE people on the team, right? The "Asshole in the Future" usual protag is somebody else -- Adam, I think?
>>27951591>>27951615With the crowd in chaos as the men force their way through, you slip away, hiding in an alley as people rush by. As soon as one of the men crosses your line of sight, you rush him, bashing his gun away with your arm, and firing the three rounds into his stomach. As he drops, you pick up his firearm, and duck into the crowd once more.Six men left.13 minutes left.Funny how numbers coincide. You remember what you said as the three of you left the diner.“6-13.” You said out loud.'What?” Adam questioned, looking at you inquisitively.“that's the locker we're picking the package up from.” You say, flipping through the files on the datachip.“So, we're picking the package of from one of the public monorail lockers, and delivering it to a man on top of the empire state building. Simple enough.” Adam says.“How is this man ensuring we deliver it in a day?” Twitch asks, and you flip through a couple more documents.“there's a sensor in the locker. As soon as we open it, the receiver will be ready to move within a day.” You respond.Twitch thinks for a moment.“We have the time on our side. We should plan it out. With half our fee up front, I say we hire decoys to run around the city, and throw off security, while we get it to the man in an entirely different manner.” She says contemplatively.“Or, we pick it up now, and hightail it over the man, and drop it off. No one will be expecting it. It's brilliant.” Adam interjects.“What do you think, Face?”both of them turn to you, and you think about your options.>Go with Twitch's plan.>Go with Adam's plan>other option. (Make your own plan.)

>>27951806>>27952015>Twitch's Plan“We're going with Twitch's plan. Play it safe and sneaky.” She nods, and says “All right. Here's what we'll do....”After a few hours, you and Adam arrived at the station. In the crowd, you could see your decoy deliverymen, all ready for you to mark the locker and start the operation. You and Adam were there at the metro, looking for locker 6-13, when it happened. You were the first to notice. As one of the digital signs indicated a train would be arriving soon, you noticed someone heading through the crowd in straight line. Heading forward, when the rest backed up.Not to you.But to the tracks. That was when you first saw her.The first thing you noticed was that she looked lovely, and more than a few heads were turned her way. But when she glanced around, for a second, you locked eyes. Hers were those of someone who was chased, and could only find rest in death. Pushing her way through the crowd, you unconsciously followed. And when she was ready to jump in front of that train, you leaped, and pulled her to the side.As the two of you laid there on the platform, you remember doing one thing.>You asked, “why?”>You took her up, and away from the crowd.>You told her that you were here to save her.>Other.

>>27952114>>27952144>>27952252“I'm here to save you.”those words, uttered by train-light as it whizzed by, may have meant nothing to you.But to her, it seemed everything. Her face, softened and creased, and as relief washed over her, her hands clutched your body, and together, you walked her through the subway, pulled her away to a bench, sat her down, and slipped away.“I'll be back.” You said, before you left. Pushing through the crowd, they are replaced with those leaving the train, and the odd looks you get for your actions disappears. You head toward Adam, who looked at you oddly, before turning back to the locker.“Okay, Face, remember. As soon as you open that locker, a decoy is going to snatch it and run. From there, we're going to give chase, and when he passes through the exit, he's going to deposit it in the bag. From there, he's going to mime handing it off to another guy, and we'll split. That should throw everyone off. You ready?”You look back at her, and back at Adam. He stares at you a bit, before nodding. “Alright, we'll make it quick. When you're done, Twitch, who's monitoring everyone will give you updates on how it's going.”“Ready?”You nod, and open the locker.
>>27952368Inside is a small brown package no more than a few kilos in weight. Tucking it into your pocket, you turn through the crowd, only for someone to rush by you and roughly yank it away. You nod at Adam, and the two of you give chase to the decoy, who turns the corner, you dash forward, enough to see the package get dropped into a bag sitting next to Twitch. As the two of you rush by, Twitch gives a small nod, and slips into the crowd. You allow yourself a small grin, and follow with the plan. As the original decoy hands a bag to another, you and Adam nod, splitting up.The chase continues for a block or so, until you both pull into an alleyway, and stop. Taking a deep breath, you nod at the decoy.“good work.”He shrugs, and says, “Payment?”You pull out your commlink, and wire over his payment. He looks at his screen, nods, and waves goodbye. Now that your part is done, you decide to:>check on her. You can spot twitch in one of the small stores in the area, while Adam surveys the hall from the second floor balcony. You find yourself sitting on a bench, talking with everyone over the commlink feed.“Who's the girl, Face?” Adam asks, and you shrug. “Twitch, can you tell me what's happening to her?” You say, and a small screen appears on your commlink. It's a camera feed of the her, walking through the area. She seems lost, without direction. You think she's safe, but Adam interrupts. “Face, this princess of yours has got two men on her.”What? You look over that way, and he's right. You go for your gun, only for twitch to interrupt.“Face, jnot the time! My plan needs all three of us to deliver this thing, and without you, it falls apart. As they start to talk, you turn back to the feed.“All right. How are we getting the package there?” You ask.Adam chuckles. “Express delivery. You see the automated courier station here? We're going to slip the package in by putting it with a bunch of other ones with the decoys. Then, the three of us are going to walk into a car, and attract all the security that way, leaving the drones to do the work for us.”“Ballsy. But it sounds perfect.” You say, and you can almost see the grin Adam has on.“Yeah, it's-hold on, she's approaching you.”“Wh-” Before you can say anything, you hear a soft voice say “Excuse me.”It's her.You turn around and as soon as she sees your face, she blushes, then takes a deep breath, saying, “I...I don't know who you are. Mixing with the crowds on the streets, you called a taxi over, and got her in.You pulled away, only to be stopped by some resistance. She was still holding on.Gently but firmly, you remove her hand. “I'm sorry, but I have to go.”She let go, but leaves her hand hovering. the taxi drove off...Why did that thought stick in your mind? You can't remember it too clearly, but afterward, a bunch of things happened, and now...Now there's six men left, and you have a pistol with 15 rounds.Play it right, and you walk out of here alive.Play it wrong, and the gig is up.As one of the men rushes towards the one you just killed, you keep your distance, eyeing them all. It seems they haven't spotted you yet. As you watch, one of them looks around, then starts staring intently at a public security camera.Oh no. You look around. They street you're on is dotted with them, here and there. It's not enough to watch everyone, but if they have the right commands, they can find you easily enough. The street is filled with people rushing and screaming, but without any sense of direction the crowd is still milling about in this area. >>27953644>>27953652You took aim with the gun, and fire.Sparks explode, and then, the lights go out in the city block. In the faint moonlight, you can see two of the men approaching. Ducking down, you hit his groin with the pistol handle, then spin it and start hammering on his face. As he collapses, you turn to the other, and spin around him, jam the gun against the base of his neck, and fire.As the two collapse, you rush away, adrenaline stopping the pain. Cutting through a nearby clothing store, you slip on a brown overcoat, and walk out the back.12 minutes left. You need to get going. This situation sounds familiar.
>>27954002“So what was that about?” Adam says, as you approach the car, and you shrug. Having just escaped and put that girl in a taxi, you've just met up with them inside the garage.Twitch is monitoring something on her commlink, and looks at the two of you.“We need to get going. Adam and I got spotted by the cameras, so we need to get out of here, and lead everyone on a merry goose chase around the city.”“how long are we going for?” You ask, and Twitch replies.“We go for, one, maybe two hours. That should be long enough to throw them off our trail. By then, the package should be on one out of hundreds of drones flying around delivering packages. There'll be no way to tell where it's at.”“yeah, while it is on express delivery, it's not going to reach the receiver in the next few hours. That would be too obvious. We're using same day delivery, so it'll reach him eventually.” Adam says, and you nod.Sounds like it'll work.As Adam settles into the drivers seat and pulls out of the garage, the goose chase begins. The next hour is filled with perilous turns and dangerous accelerations, as the two cars weave in and out of automated traffic. Twitch is rapidly hacking feeds and controls to erase the chase, and you keep an eye on the cars. Finally, Adam pulls a stiff turn, and you drift into an alleyway and take off, leaving the pursuers far behind.“So,” he pants. “What now?”>Go to the bar. He pulls up in front of the address, and you step out.The address you gave her was to a public library. People of all sorts are inside, reviewing or reading for some purpose or another on the terminals. You walk around, and spot her at one, looking over a news articles from a week or so back.Pulling up a seat next to her, you tap on the center of the screen, breaking her concentration. She looks over at you, and breathes a sigh of relief.“So, what do you need help with?” you ask.She flips through the articles on the screen, and selects one.“This.”It's an article about a recent theft at some corporation's R&D plant that resulted in several deaths.“I'm assuming you were one of the people working there?”She looks at you, slightly surprised.“No. But a good guess. “She starts to tell you her story. She was the journalist who wrote the article. When she did some digging, she found that the attempt was staged, in order to eliminate a product that should have never existed. Said product was supposed to be able to brute-force its way into any system faster than thought possible. When she tried to reveal his information, her data got wiped. All her accounts, files, even her identity. And now, she's being hunted by someone who enjoys taking time. “I haven't been able to sleep for the past few days. Every time I try, someone knocks on a door or window, letting me know they're there.”“I'm being hunted.” She continues. “And it's getting so exhausting I can barely stand it. Out in the distance, you can see the wisps of smoke, and you feel your adrenaline heighten.“Was it the one with package?” You ask.“I don't know, Twitch says probably not, but she's not sure-oh, fuck!”Outside, you hear a small rumble, and another smoke trail drifts in the air.“Face, something is taking these drones down quick, and it's in in your area! And you are?”“Charmed.” You grin, and take off into the city. Messaging Adam for coordinates, you turn the corner, and find yourself staring at a bunch of warehouses. It's got to be one of these damn things. Hopping the fence, you land on the other side, and begin moving into the facility. Creeping around, you notice one warehouse that has a bunch of armed guards standing around it, at the ready. That's got to be your target. But how are you getting in? Looking around, you see several options.>There's a few lifting vehicles nearby. >>27955301>>27955306>>27955324It's an old trick. That's why it still works. Sneaking up to the restrooms, you crawl into one of the windows, and drop in silently. As the guard stands, taking his leak, you sneak up behind him, and grab him in a chokehold. He struggles a bit before dropping unconscious, and you quickly take his gear and put it on. Within minutes, you're walking outside, with no one the wiser.Keeping to a walk around the perimeter, you eyes linger at the warehouse. The door is open just a smidge, and it takes you several passes to see inside clearly.Inside is a man controlling missiles onscreen, targeting various courier drones around the city. As you peer in, his commlink buzzes, and he picks it up.“Who's this?”Someone speaks on the other end, but you can't make it out at this distance. All you get to hear is the man speaking.“Yes, the job's getting done. No, it won't be traced back to you. I'm a professional, is why.”“Yeah, it's crazy. Crazy enough they'll never even look for me inside the city.”“Yeah, per your orders, every drone. You've got the payment, right?”“Alright. Hope to hear from you soon.” He hangs up. “Prick.”He sighs, and walks towards the door, and you quickly turn away, walking your patrol. He closes the door all the way, and you hear a lock click into place on the other side. How are you going to get in there now? There's still the explosives and the vehicles. Afterward, you do the same to the generator, and walk away.An explosion rings in the background behind you, and casually, as everyone around you rushes around, you walk over to the warehouse, and test the door.Unlocked. Seemed all the locks were electronic. Sliding it open, you step inside-only for a bullet to whiz by your ear. Diving for cover, you narrowly avoid the next few.“Who are you, and why are you here?” The man demands, and you shake your head. Does he really think you're going to answer him?Your response is to fire a few shots in his direction, and rush him as soon as he's distracted. Grabbing him around the neck, you hold him close and point a gun at his head.“Who's your client?” You demand.“I ain't telling you shit, so back off!” the man throws his elbow back, landing a good hit in your gut, and you reel, letting him go. As he dives for cover, the two of you find yourself at a standoff, guns pointed at each other.“Just tell me what I need to know.” You say, and he shakes his head.“No.” He pulls the trigger on his gun, winging you in the gut, and you fall over, aim still trained on him. Reaching over you examine it. There's a few biometric scanners on it, and you tell Twitch. “Good. That means if you bring him, finding out who his employer was will be much easier.”“About that...” You say. “I'm in the middle of his compound right now. Anyway the two of you could help me out?”“No problem. Can you hold out for 5 minutes?” Adam says, and you nod.Grabbing the man, you drag him behind a desk, and hold your position. As people come in, you hold still. Then one of them notices you, and you start firing. As targets into the crosshairs, bullets are spit out, dropping men like flies. Then the gun clicks empty. At the same time, you hear another explosion in the compound, and you get a message.“Get going. Now.”taking your cue, you grab the man's gun, and dart into the open. Outside, you can see a forklift holding two massive containers barrelling into people, with Adam leaning out and taking potshots at anything that's threatening his movement. Spotting you, he guns it across the compound, blowing away a barricade and pulling up next to you.“let's go, Face!”You don't need to be told. As you hop into the forklift, man in tow, aiming at the guards, the two of you drive away.“Twitch is getting the car over here. We need to make our transition fast!” As he speaks, a car pulls up, popping open all the doors. You quickly move over, and drive into the city.Having Adam around makes things so much easier.
>>27956457It's pity you didn't have him a bit afterwards, when youwere being chased by the comapany men.Hobbling down the city block, wearing that brown overcoat, you constantly check behind you for any sort of a chase. Then a feeling of faintness comes over you, and you nearly collapse. You're losing blood, and the adrenaline's worn off. Then the world goes black.11 minutes left. Not that you'll make it in time.Back when you were first shot at the compound, you brushed it off as a healable wound. If only you knew it would set you back this much.“It's nothing,” you said, brushing away Adam with the scalpel and stiching thread.. “Give me a localized painkiller and one of those medpatches.”You, Adam and Twitch are in a safehouse, waiting for Twitch to finish decoding the mysterious man's commlink. It's slow going, but eventually Twitch gets a hit.“Aha. Found it. Came from a company comm.”You look over. The company that hired this man to destroy the drones was the one who had their product stolen in that news article Harlowe showed you.You tell Adam and Twitch, and they both nod.“Figures as much. Still, we're getting paid to deliver it to the opposition.”'Where is this drone, by the way?” Adam ask twitch, and she shrugs.“I don't know. By current estimate, it will deliver to the receiver in five hours.”“And when is our deadline?”“About seven hours from now.”“cutting it close, don't you think?” You joke, but she sighs.“Maybe. Harlowe is here, loitering outside, and you walk up to her.“Ready for this?” You ask, and she nods. >>27960958it was good but the climatic hardcore part I think came a bit too rushed, maybe fleshing the moment a bit more before the climatic gtaV drone incursion? but it was an entertaining read

Hopefully, the romance didn't to feel forced, and the perspective jumping wasn't too confusing either. please, tell me what you think.Awesome as usual. As the guy who asked for More Face/Twitch Time last time, this was a nice change of pace...... and its pretty hilarious seeing Adam's influence rubbing off on Face. Though half of that's just cuz its the same crew driving.>>27956457>Having Adam around makes things so much easier. This made me crack up.If anything it seemed.... a little too easy, actually. I really, really dig your narrative style and storytelling, but I'm more accustomed to quests that have the dice fuck things up at all the wrong moments. This isn't a bad thing. Just different, and I like it.I kind of want to see twitch's side of things, now. What makes her tick? What's her inspiration?I'd kind of like to see her dragging along adam and face to a Hacker Convention and getting them to help HER with totally nerdy things where they're BOTH a bit out of their depth - which basically never happens for adam, or smooth-operator face.
>>27964283>If anything it seemed.... a little too easy, actually. Also, i should point out, this is biased by just getting here and reading it all in one go.Upon further consideration/backreading, man that shit is tense and you have no idea if face is gonna make it as it was unfolding.
Nice! Thanks for running!
>>27960958Thank you very much Rbroker! I enjoyed the read and the perspective jump was pretty good. Made me curious how everything will work out
>>27961059Yes, this is true. at the time, i had very little idea of how to extend it, so I went straight for an ending rather than risk using not-so-good ideas and filler. it's definitely something I need to work on.>>27964283yeah, you're part of the reason why i decided to switch over to face. as for not using dice, I ran with them in the very first net gain quest, and tried them without in the second, and for some reason, it helped everything flow a lot better. maybe next time, though, I'll try using dice again.
>>27960918>>27964781>>27964982 And thank all of you for participating. Hope to see you all the next time I run one of these quests.>>27965148also forgot my trip here.
>>27965148>maybe next time, though, I'll try using dice again. No no no.What i'm saying is not using dice is a good thing, and it focuses on the cinematic/guided storytelling BETTER.Sorry if I wasn't clear
