For House and Dominion: Neeran War Quest

http://houseanddominion.wikia.com/wiki/HouseAndDominion_Wiki
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=House%20and%20Dominion

You are Sonia Reynard, Attack Wing Leader and Knight of the House of Jerik-Dremine! And today you are having a bad day.

Normally you command the Third Attack Wing, one of the elite units of the House, composed of fast hard hitting Cruisers, Frigates and a few remaining Corvettes. For the past few months you've been fighting the Neeran Empire's invasion of Shallan space, eventually joining the Factions Alliance military. While you fought only a few battles in Shallan space it was enough to cost you several ships including your own, The Unnamed Guard.

Since then you and your people have helped train mixed units, taking ships, pilots and commanders from several of the Factions you helped in getting them to work together and get results. The Factions Alliance now has a strong core of trained small unit commanders that can integrate ships and personnel from diverse backgrounds.
With that accomplished you prepared to return home, your front line House units being rotated out for ones fresh from training in the Pandora Cluster.

Since the invasion began the Factions Alliance has put up heavy resistance, recently costing the Neeran a command ship. This apparently was enough for them to call for a ceasefire and diplomatic talks.

The Neeran Isolationists sent a ship to the talks to act as a secure meeting place. Only a handful of the "Dark" Neeran as some of your people have nicknamed them went aboard. With thousands of friendlies plus the escort for the Alliance Diplomats aboard it was believed that such a small contingent wouldnt be able to pose a threat.

This was proven false when all aboard were suddenly knocked unconscious, or in the case of the Neeran instantly killed. The former Isolationist ship is now headed towards the Pandora cluster, and from there towards Republic space.

The fastest Alliance ships nearby, including the newly rebuilt and upgraded EX-K, took up pursuit and put troops aboard while still at FTL.

With your Recon armor you've been able to scout the inner most region of the ship called the Atrium. A wide open area that's built similar to an old style habitat station, the Atrium's most visible feature is the spherical control center at its aft end.

Last thread you explored the ship's archives, making your way past it's various passive defenses, and tried to glean someusefull information. While there you gained access to codes that would shut down all active defenses on the ship and let you review information on the ship's neural network at maintainence points.

You joined up with Lt Seb Pettersen from Terran Special Forces who also wears Recon armor. He helped hijack a number of sentry turrets near the control center in preparation for your search for the Alliance Ambassadors. The council chambers are sealed by heavy blast doors and one of the other Recon troopers aboard was found dead nearby.

Given the small number of enemy troops believed to be on board the two of you proceeded up several decks and attempted to enter the control center. In seconds you were attacked by a Neeran wielding a weapon that seemed to change shape at the user's will, blocking your heaviest weapons fire.

Finding yourselves outmatched you retreated, possibly wounding the Neeran commando. In the process you were hit by fire from the enemy's fusion pistol, compromising part of your armor and burning away your right arm near the shoulder.

"Don't look at it, just keep moving." Urges Seb, helping to pull you along by your left arm. "And try to begin a restart of your camo system."

After finishing the restart on your camouflage system the two of you make your way out of the control center and into the Atrium once again. Doing a quick check your suit has closed off the wound and reduced input from nerves in the same area. The suit's medical system has also compensated to prevent you from going into shock.

You feel Seb shift as he looks over towards the control center. "Hide."

You both take cover. As soon as you stop a few drips of blood from your wound lands on the floor. You haven't been leaving much in the way of a trail but the sudden stop must have caused some blood to break through the cracks in the burnt and cauterized flesh.
"We're both still invisible right?" You ask.

"Yeah but I wanted to be sure before I did anything. There." You get the feeling that he's pointing but you cant tell.
"What?"
"Our friend from a minute ago, standing near one of the windows of the command center.."

He takes cover, turning off his camo and checking the anti-tank gun you gave him earlier.
"I'll take a shot while you cover me with a pistol, sound good?"

The rest of the Marines and Kavarian Security forces should be entering the Atrium by now a couple km away. They'll have medics and be near the supply cashes your people on the Ultralights dropped earlier.

You notice that your own anti-tank gun is missing. It must have been blown off when you were hit. All your pistols and your X-ray laser are still intact though.
"Just hand me the pistol in my right holster."

Peeling back the charred holster Seb pulls the bulkier than average pistol free. "This is... is this a Plasma Pistol prototype?"

"Yep, good guess."

"Where did you get this thing?"

"Stole it from a drug lord. Now let's do this." You're still working on getting your balance right but you'll be fine for shooting at things.

Camo on you cover your temporary wingman, keeping an eye out for any other threats nearby. Nothing so far.

A blue beam flashes across the distance hitting the window square on, an explosion blasting it outwards showering nearby parts of the Atrium with armored glass. Both of you relocate, stopping to look once the smoke has cleared.

"The window shouldn't have exploded like that." Says Seb.
You spot the Neeran now standing in front of another window a few meters over, seemingly unchanged until some of the drifting embers pass through the figure causing it to flicker in and out of view.

"Hologram."

A loud roar issues from perhaps two hundred meters away, your sonar detecting a heavy object moving in your general direction.

Get the hell out of there. Avoid any further confrontation. We're obviously dealing with something that make elite commandos look like untrained soldiers. Come back with friends later. Lots of friends.

>>
>>27883894
Can it sense us/see us? May want to split up if possible, maybe it might smell out blood so we can hopefully lure it to an ultralight and prime it to missile into him.

At the same time Seb shoots him from behind with the AT Rifle. We might also want to get some potshots in aswell during all this.

On mobile so i hope this works

You have the locations of several traps Seb deployed using some of your grenades, in addition to the fire zones provided by hijacked turrets.

You could climb up onto the roof of one of the smaller buildings but that will be more difficult for you with your injury, even with your smart grapple.

Lure to trap/missile. Do our thing and before the dust settles we make for a vantage point

Both of you run, headed for one of the areas Seb mined earlier.

"This one should get us closer to the bikes and let us keep our distance from that thing."

Breathing hard and trying to ignore the pain spreading across your upper chest from the wound, you keep moving. In the time it takes you to reach the checkpoint you've gained a bit of a lead, though in the process you've had to move closer to the control center.

"Marines, get ready for incoming. One or two of the vehicles are going to have a second rider. The third we may be using as a missile as planned."

"Understood sir!"

There's an explosion from behind as the trap explodes and the sonar contact stops.

"This is the part where one of us says "wait lets go back and see if its dead" right?" Asks Seb.

"You mean the part where a rookie says that and gets killed." you snap back not slowing down until you've reached the Ultralights. Climbing on you secure yourself for flight while Seb waits near the third vehicle.
"Sonar contact. Moving slow but picking up speed. I'm priming the bike's reactor."

The Marines turn towards the incoming contact and get ready to direct their vehicles up and away immediately after strafing the target.

"Moving fast now." Seb climbs on, swings back around behind the other vehicles and prepares for a run up to speed towards the approach path.
The Terran hits a few buttons on the controls then jumps off and the overpowered repulsor bike hurtles towards the entrance.

When the brute of a Neeran appears it doesn't try to dodge as you expect, instead raising a fist which the bow of the Ultralight impacts. In the fractions of a second you see the bike crumple then explode.

"Pick me up! Pick me up!." Yells Seb before jumping onto the second Ultralight.
When the blast clears there's a crater in the decking and the nearby wall. A bloody hand grabs the edge of the hole hauling the Neeran back into view.
>>
"Shoot it!"

The monster raises its arms like shields warding off weapons fire that would have destroyed a tank. Your suit sensors are detecting energy levels coming from the Neeran that would put starfighters to shame.

But only for a second or two.

When the output begins to drop the monster ceases its advance and dives for cover. Pulling out a fusion pistol it fires wildly forcing you all to back off.

This terrifies my inner pilot
>>
"Throw grenades and strafe him!"

You fire off the remaining shots in your pistol's fuel cell before jamming it into your harness and tossing the remaining grenades.
"This is so much harder with only one arm. Chew grenades!"
Your aim is good even with the bikes gaining altitude and changing course to bring their weapons to bear. It's a bit hard to tell if you hit but with the number of frags going off something will have hit.

Your pilot dodges return fire and both Ultralights swing behind a group of trees allowing Seb time to turn on his camo.

Particle beam cannon fire from the control center begins to pepper the area and the Marines dive for the deck, making for the other end of the atrium at best possible speed. Beams are still firing off when you touch down and head under cover.

It doesn't take long to get in contact with the Marines who were in the middle of setting up a forward command post and are now relocating it to an area better protected from particle beam fire.

Lt Com Ailema takes one look at you and orders you to the medics. Seb can take care of the reports.

At your insistence the medics let you leave your helmet on while you go over recordings. The last Neeran you just fought was unlike the others, far more so than the one using Svidur's staff if that's what it was. Looking at the clip before the Ultralight hit it you see that it was already covered in still drying dark blue blood. Anywhere that hadn't been burned off by the explosive trap it had set off at any rate. Physically its limbs and torso all seem bloated, covered in dozens of cuts with irregular lumps located nearby beneath the skin.

"Sir, we need to put you under to operate. Now." Insists one of the medics.

There's a message flagged urgent from Linda stating that she needs to speak to you.

Figuring this shouldn't take longer than a few moment you tell the medics to hang on as you have important data that cant wait. First you forward your recordings to your Marines then you open a com channel.
"Linda, report fast I'm down an arm."
It takes a minute before you hear anything. Networking problem? Encryption?

"Sonia this may take awhile. The Marines passed along that Svidur told you the ship was accelerating. He did say that right?"

"Right, but I thought we were going close to full out already." you state.
This time you pay more notice to the delay in Linda's response.

"We are. They must be using those gravity drives within the ship already because the Marines are experiencing increased time dilatation the deeper within the ship they are. Our com systems are speeding up or slowing down the messages appropriately to compensate. For anyone in the Atrium or the control center it'll only be a few hours until we arrive in the Pandora cluster."

The medics need to operate now or put you in a stasis field and go to another patient.
Is there anything you want to take care of now? Any orders to you Marines?

Nows not the time to go to bed, not with the time dilating like this, if we go under now we may just wake up to new Cannibal Neeran Overlords.

We might as well stay awake, see if they can do some field surgery and attach a bionic arm or something than get back into the fight.

I bet combat infantry have to do this all the time
>>
>>27887133
>The medics need to operate now or put you in a stasis field and go to another patient.

Inform them of the time dilation problem and have the wounded and recovering moved as far from the atrium as is feasible.

If they're operating somewhere, move that as far away from the drives as possible too.

That way we should have those who can fight again after receiving medical attention back here faster than otherwise.

>Any orders to you Marines?
They're the professionals here. Sonia might have power armour and protagonist status, but they've been trained for many years for situations like this. They have the experience. Let them know something tremendously bad will happen if the ship reaches republic space, but otherwise I'm sure they'll be able to deal with this well.

If they want to consolidate their forces before they attack the command center, freeing the diplomats or recovering the armour and body of the dead terran commando might be something to do while they wait.

They also have Seb.
>>
>>27887133
We "could" have them operate but refuse to let them put us under. We do need to kinda stay awake for this.

>We might as well stay awake, see if they can do some field surgery and attach a bionic arm or something than get back into the fight.

They need to operate in order to do anything like that because of the destroyed muscle tissue surrounding the shoulder. Also the remains of your humerus need to be removed.

>We "could" have them operate but refuse to let them put us under. We do need to kinda stay awake for this.
Be advised you probably wouldn't be able to talk during that time.
>>
>>27887517
Just let the professionals do their job. I doubt being awake will help much while they pull bone and other stuff out of our boiled shoulder.
>>
>>27887517
True though I still support staying awake while they work.
>>
>>27887517

With tech of this level, shouldn't the medics be able to just do a nerve block on our shoulder/arm? We can do it now for outpatient surgery.

Who cares how long it takes to wear off, we don't have the damned limb anymore. Recovery time from the block isn't a factor AND it will mean that we're aware and able to do mental things like go over combat data.
>>
>>27887722
They're going to put a neuro isolator around your neck to only send signals where they want them sent and use an infusion unit to keep your blood oxygenated. They want as little movement as possible while they cut bits out and patch up or rebuild others so that it can be done quickly. As for halting pain and signal response to the surrounding area of the wound, yeah that's easy.

You decide to stay awake to go over data and hand off your pistol on the explicit instructions that nobody loses it.

Local nerve block while we keep our mental faculties and command according to the situation. Don't wanna lose over half our men because we were asleep. Although, with time dilation we may not be able to communicate with any more than the men taking down super neeran here in the atrium.

He is injured at least, we know that, although his super star fighter powered suit is probably doing what our suit did for us, only better. If he has nanomachines and bio gel they can use to rebuild tissue then we are fucked. Side note: invest in nanomachines that use a biogel (stem cell) to rebuild damaged tissue in the field. It won't replace while missing limbs, but it will fix gun shots, severe burns, and broken limbs. Captcha says we should call it administra iunrela

To continue to expand on the combat nano healing.

Bio gel is inserted under the skin in several places around the injury. The gel contains the nano machines and with a combat program can activate them all at once. The nano machines deconstruct the destroyed tissue and use the bio gel to replace. Any left over gel and the nanos themselves break down into calcium and strengthen bone density or are expelled from the body in a natural bodily function. This process is very.... brutal... it's not something you'd use in a hospital or better situation, but it can mean life or death in the field for soldiers.

Also depending on the injury it may only serve to rebuild and stabilize the person, but they're still to critical to reenter the fight.
>>
>Inform them of the time dilation problem and have the wounded and recovering moved as far from the atrium as is feasible.
>If they're operating somewhere, move that as far away from the drives as possible too.
Normally they try to treat people as soon as possible.

>That way we should have those who can fight again after receiving medical attention back here faster than otherwise.
It's a good idea in theory and would work great if the rapid transit systems through the ship could be trusted. Then they could send people back in stasis and send the portable stasis unit back up to the front quickly.

The medics get to work while you try to review the combat footage. Both of the Neeran you went up against were definitely wounded by your weapons fire, well some more than others, so they're not unkillable. You just need to hit them from multiple directions or when they're not expecting it. That the fuckers can detect people from so far away is a serious hindrance to that though.

>He is injured at least, we know that, although his super star fighter powered suit is probably doing what our suit did for us, only better.
Data analysis isnt your job but damned if you're not going to figure out how these guys tick. Zooming in you try to find out what kind of armor the last one had. The head, torso and upper arms are protected by armor similar enough to what you saw on the Vieona. The arms where it was taking most of the fire was not.

"What the hell..." you think to yourself.

Switching between visual, infrared, EM and any other spectrum your suit took records you try to focus. The unusual lumps seem to be the source of a good portion of the EM output. Not shields, it's like its skin became invulnerable.
The rest of the skin and some of the armor was also giving out strong energy readings. Man, you've gotta get this data to the R&D guys.

Reports filtering in from the troops show that the Neeran Commandos are not alone on the ship anymore. Troops in the aft sections have recently begun fighting the ships former security personnel outfitted with a cybernetic implant. They're being plugged in to the brain to replace the damaged areas and include a power source that can transmit commands to the rest of the body using the fairly redudant nervous system.
While they lack advanced tactics their fire is still accurate enough to be a problem.

Allied troops are trying to determine the location of the implantation lab or where aboard the parts are being manufactured.

In the Atrium meanwhile the troops are making occasional contact with either of the Neeran you fought. Any time they've been ambushed casualties have been high.

The particle beam turrets attached to the control center have been disabled by missile and rocket fire so the few Ultralights and repulsor bikes that have been brought in are able to provide air support. Troops should be able to create a reinforced perimeter around the control center in another hour by their time.

At the moment both Seb and his remaining team mate have headed aft to find and sabotage the gravity generators.

One of the Medics knocks on your helmet. "Restoring nerve function in ten seconds."

When things kick back in you inhale involuntarily. Looking down the medics have attached a simple mechanical frame directly to your armor in place of your right arm. It isn't armored and wont have the sort of strength your suit does but it will let you do nearly normal tasks again.

After going through a quick routine to be sure its working the medic speaks up again. "No sign of phantom limb or pain. You're clear to get back to it if you want, but I want that limb back or payment."

Don't want the ship to go wreck republic space and whatnot.
>>
You talk to your people and Commander Ailema about the idea of storming the control room with the clones in your unit.

"If you're willing to take the risk of leading the way by all means. I've been trying to ensure neither of the Neeran warriors can escape to strike our rear positions but that's starting to look like it could cause more harm than good. Once your team gets in there they wont have long if the enemy is determined to get back inside. My people just wont be able to stop a determined advance if the two of them combine forces. Also those revived security troops are starting to reach our troops in the outer sections of the Atrium now."

"You mean the cyber zombies." Says Ecord, who has been listening in over the command channel.

The Lt Commander just rolls her eyes.

"What about the other Recon troops going after the gravity drives?" you ask.

"We don't have anything with enough kick to be certain they'll destroy the drives so they're going to try and overload the attached fusion reactor complexes then get out."

Whats ecord been up to all this time? Also was the anon who suggested the clone attack, but im heading to bed now, up real early tommorow, so if anyone else thinks a clone attack is fine than it has my vote.

Im also against going to the reactor, we have 2 commandos there already, wed just slow them down or get there to late.

We should stay near the atrium either to hit the CC again or assist in interdiction and delaying tactics of the chipped soldiers.

Thanks for the game, ill try to participate again tommorow

I'm not convinced storming the control room is a good idea.

Although I don't like it, the drives seem to be our best bet.

Do we have any idea where the 'zombies' were first spotted? Are they demonstrating any signs of the Neeran ESP crap?

Does our camo system function still?

I think we should go hunt down the source of those zombies.

It seems unlikely since they all seem to originate from farther aft. It's not out of the question though.

No.

Yes.

Okay, lets go after the cyber brains and hope we can take them over so we can put the pressure onto the C&C.

Also, I bet the R&D guys are going to love us when we bring one of the cyber zombies back with us.
>>
>>27890528
The fun thing about time distortion is that if it originates from the drives they have MASSIVE amounts of time to do their job where we have only hours. If you could stand in a singularity you can watch the universe collapse due to the time distortion. However, outside it the person inside wouldn't appear to be moving at all.

Basically, leave the gravity engines to the guys already inside the field. We couldn't ever catch up to them so we need to do productive stuff on our side.
>>
>>27890696
Ahh, following what I just said, the Neeran's being further Aft can use the time distortion to pretty much grow cybermen and send them out at us!

Also, remember our size scale. It took several hours to cross the atrium on foot, it will take an equal amount of time to get to the cyberfacilities unless we use a lift. I say control facilities for when our men reach the engines. We can mop up the cybers afterwards.

(Granted, as we aproach the aft section time should extend on us giving us more and more time to work... but then sending the cyber's back at the control aghh, why'd we have to have time distortion in this fight?! My brain!)

Question? Did any friendly ships ever dock in the starboard hanger? Or did we just secure it for no reason?

If there were friendlies there, did they advance past the hanger at all or are they funneling over to out side and than advancing?

Or you just did not draw in a yellow line for that side?

>Question? Did any friendly ships ever dock in the starboard hanger?
Yes. The team you sent over there linked up with them and helped check out the Neeran Frigate.

>Or you just did not draw in a yellow line for that side?
Mostly tat.

Also troops on that side had some trouble advancing initially.

I'll be resuming shortly before noon tomorrow hopefully. I have some things to get done in the morning.

You make sure to stay good and far ahead of the Marines. Even if you're detected you should be able to warn them so that the enemy doesn't detect them as well. One of the troopers were able to help rig a Fusion gun to your right arm since the laser may not have enough punch when you need it most. Your Plasma pistol still has two full fuel cells left which you're using in your good hand now.

The closer you move to the control center the less you communicate, using only burst transmissions to minimise detection.

You're most of the way there coming in from "below" the sphere when suddenly the lighting shifts.

An alert pops up on your HUD.
>WARNING: Phased Plasma Channel detected!

Diving to towards cover, arcs of lightning rain down on your position, ripping apart most light materials nearby and causing a few trees to burst into flames. One bolt strikes your suit, blowing out your camo system and causing every muscle in your body to spasm. Your dive into cover turns into an uncontrolled tumble that stops when you strike a wall.

Muscles still twitching you try to restart the camouflage.

You detach the fusion gun and pick it up with your good hand, still trying to shake off the effects of being struck before. Getting up you move around the side of the building, trying to stay beneath the overhang while trying to get your bearings. Parts of the HUD are glitching.

Despite that your sonar clearly detects the movement of air and the impact of a Neeran landing nearby. It's the one with Svidur's staff, only this time instead of a fusion pistol in its left it hand it has the front ring sections of ten handweapons the Isolationist security officers were armed with. Raising it he fires a stream of plasma just as you fire off your own Fusion Gun. The two blasts largely cancel each other out, though the resulting blast is enough that everyone in the Atrium can clearly see it.

Staggering from the shockwaves you start running full out towards friendly lines. "This is Reynard, if anyone can hear me I'm headed towards Iratar group twelve. Brace for incoming."

"Copy that Major. Other teams have already diverted."

Ducking behind another building you change direction slightly to break up the long line of sight. You empty the fuel cell on the fusion gun firing behind you then dump the weapon, sprinting full out as fast as you can with the dead mechanical arm hanging off you.

Several direction changes later part of a building to the left that you were about to head behind is struck by an energy weapon and disintegrates, collapsing into a cloud of monatomic dust.

"Oh great they've got fucking E-beams too?!"

Its just incentive to run that much faster. By the time you close in on the friendly security team the Neeran's sonar contact has fallen back slightly.
An explosion above you reveals why. One of the Ultralights was attempting a strafing run and has been shot down.

"This is Reynard, I'm at our lines."
"Good." responds the Lt Commander who orders a missile bombardment of the area the Neeran was last detected in.
>>
Shard missiles the troops must have brought in with them hammers the area for half a minute.

"No movement here." you report.

"We know where the second one is. Your people should have reached the objective by now. Our troops are to hold there and try to delay the first one if you spot it headed back."

You spend the next few minutes finding a specialist that can repair the artificial limb and get it working again. Its been damaged slightly from being smashed between your armor and the Fusion Gun but they're able to get it working again.

"Control room secured." Reports your Clone team leader. "The blast doors are now sealed, we'll have plenty of warning if they try to get in here."

"How long do you need to get the ship under control?" Asks the Commander.

"A few minutes anyways. These systems are different from the others we've seen here on on the Empire ships. It looks like the Recon teams have succeeded. We're seeing alerts that several of the reactors feeding the gravity drives are going way past their safety limits. No idea how long it'll take for them to blow by our reckoning with this time dilation."

You see movement again, headed towards the lower sections of the Control Center and report it.
They're already outside your effective range with the cover still offered by structures.

"We see them... I think they're headed for the council decks. Shit we don't have a lot of time, we're about to revert to real space."

Is our camo in the process of restarting? If not, we might as well hand it off to a technican. Even if he doesn't get it ready in time for us to use it, can it be used with regular armour?

>Is our camo in the process of restarting?
Nope, she's busted.
>If not, we might as well hand it off to a technician. Even if he doesn't get it ready in time for us to use it, can it be used with regular armour?
Because of damage sustained to your camouflage system way back it was directly integrated into your armor. It cant be removed. The upside is that it doesn't need to be shut down after so many hours.

While the other troops begin to move in your contact the clone team and give them command codes with which to trigger fire alerts.

The remaining Ultralight flies past overhead providing fire support but staying back far enough that there's time to dodge.

"This is Pettersen, a Neeran tricked out in power armor just blew past us and is headed towards the Control Center with two squads of Cyborgs. We're in pursuit trying to pick them off but they'll arrive before we can finish them all."

Running towards one of the forward CP's to locate a technician you feel the unmistakable sensation of the ship dropping out of FTL.

"Sonia this is Linda, we're in the Pandora Cluster. The gravity drives are no longer creating a time dilation field."
You skid to a stop. "Reynard to Clone team report."

"Control team here, we're manually overriding the autopilot. Our intrusion experts are still trying to figure out how to shut it down or what to blow up so we're rigging everything with explosives. What do you mean there's a power transfer in progress? To where?"

The entire Atrium shakes and a few buildings collapse creating enough noise you almost miss the report that the Neeran are forcing the doors to the Council decks.

A few more buildings and sections of the decking sway then you realise the parts of the interior they're attached to are lifting away revealing machinery beneath. By now most of the troops are closer to the control center and are thankfully out of the way when four of what look like structural supports lift upwards, locking into place at the Atrium's mid section.

"Is that an emergency bulkhead?" Asks one of the Kavarian officers.

"Whatever it is we cant stop it from here." reports your team leader.

Each of the now elevated structural supports extends a section from it's end out to the side, connecting it to one one next to it, forming a rough ring shape. Arcs of electricity begin to run along its interior surface. Glancing back and forth you see that the sphere of the control center could easily fit through the opening.

Protective blast shutters begin to drop into place in front of the control center's viewports.

Ecord is still outside but could probably jump jet through the broken window into the control center. Likewise your clone troops could try to evac, blow the explosives they've already set or try to hold their position.

What are your orders?
>>
>>27902526
If one of the Neeran commandos is headed for the control centre, we should definitely try to avoid fighting in there. Do we have an eta on how long it will take him to get there?

>Ring
Can we disrupt the power supply for that thing?
Do we have enough heavy ordinance to damage it?
Can we spot any kind of mechanism that would push the control center through the ring?
>>
>>27902526

So the command center can produce one of those wormholes to escape through?

If Svidur survives this bullshit, we're shooting him in the fucking knee for putting all this shit into enemy hands instead of a crappy little ship with no experimental systems.

Time to have that last ultralight and some AT fire blow the power systems/projectors on one of the sections.

The Atrium is basically the last line of defense for the crew, so we have to hope that the thing has weaknesses.

Or we can pull an Independence Day and have the ultralight fly into the focal point and cause some sort of energy surge/feedback to disrupt it.

>A ring forms and it looks like the round C&C could fit in it.

You unload your pistol into one of the supports and a few of the others do as well. The Ultralight comes about and launches its remaining ammo as well.

The remaining blast shutters around the control center snap into place and the support arms begin to retract. All lighting in the Atrium fails except for the increasing brightness coming from the expanding wormhole.
Noting a familiar glow similar to cherenkov radiation you decide it might be wise to take cover once your ammo is expended. That glow flickers briefly from the damage that's being inflicted on the one support but it's at regular intervals.

"Brace for venting!" Warns one of the medics and not a moment too soon.

The sphere of the control center launches forwards, passing through the wormhole just after one of flickers have ended. Much of the Atrium's atmosphere is dragged through along with it, buffeting everyone with strong winds until the portal collapses, sealing itself.

The following calm doesn't last long as the ship is shaken by several fusion reactors farther aft detonating.

"The bulkheads aren't closed, stay in cover." Warns Seb.

Looking aft towards the retracted control center supports you see two recon troopers jump clear of of the still extended corridor section. Both use smart grapples to swing down and away. Five seconds later a bright glow precedes the arrival of the fusion plasma from the reactors coming down that same corridor. The fireball erupts into the Atrium like a volcano in fast forward and things get a lot warmer.

When the worst has passed you head for the nearest friendly forces, making your way through the slowly burning interior. There's still enough atmosphere to allow fires but not much.

"This is Commander Ailema to all forces. Evacuate the Atrium and seal bulkheads behind you. Help the wounded back to the ships, we should have control of the transport network or whats left of it."
>>
>>27903811
Well, that was disappointing.
>>
PCCG Militia Support Base
3 days later...

"And other than our team that went into the Control Center all of our casualties have been accounted for." Finishes Ecord.

You remain on a medical bed waiting for your procedure while trying to get reports taken care of. 70% of your elite troops survived the boarding operation, though there are a good number of suits of Power Cell armor that need repair. Your own Recon armor is going to be in the shop for awhile with the entire arm missing.

One of the Ultralights managed to be salvaged along with several Neeran weapons, fragments of holography, and even some plant life from the Atrium someone snagged before evacuating. Then there's the cybernetic implants a few people grabbed with bits of brain matter still attached. Blegh.

Despite the ship being pointed away from Shallan space at the time that's where the wormhole is believed to have ended. It's in a region that neither side has done much fighting in and search teams are now combing the nearby star systems. It's just too bad the team didn't have a subspace beacon on them.

"I could have sworn there was still an intel update."

"That one is eyes only for you sir." Ecord hands over the pad then salutes.

The intel report has data on a joint starfighter program the Shallans were working on with the Isolationist Neeran. A heavy fighter that could be easily reconfigured to carry torpedoes or beam weaponry, has powerful enough engines to remain mobile and still performs well in atmosphere. The third Neeran Commando took scans of the data from a secure lab while in the engineering section. Still there wasn't enough time to destroy it so your allies might be able to put them into production.
>>
"Let me know the minute we hear from anyone that they might have been found." you tell him.
Do you have anything to ask Ecord or will you move on to options for your surgery?

As you're not on the front lines, and are not experiencing phantom limb you have the option to have your right arm cloned. Hell if you wanted to be really pedantic you could pay to have one slow grown rather than rapidly cloning it.
Then there's the cybernetic options, with all the good and bad that go with them. With one replacement arm if you go with something much more powerful you'll be a bit lopsided as a result.
At any rate with your money there are a wide variety of custom options available.

What are you guys looking to have after your surgery?

You cant get any data on the Staff/Shield out of the Alliance, they've got nothing. The Neeran have never been forthcoming about their technology. You would be farther ahead to talk to a Krath intelligence network.

>Either put the new shield on it or digi weapons
You mean the stasis shields that are still only in the earliest design stages?

>>27904645
From your team reports received before the command center disappeared there was no way to physically access the control decks from the council decks. You have to double back and use the access corridors to the aft and go up a few decks. They can be easily closed off with emergency bulkheads. The control decks should have been next to impenetrable if a small security team held them. Instead they had hundreds of guards in the area.

3 people voting for cybernetic, most with hacking module options.

How do you want the external covering to look? Indistinguishable from human norms, only the parts of them that would show through uniforms to look normal, sort of similar coloration, or full on Adam Jensen.

>You mean the stasis shields that are still only in the earliest design stages?

Yes, print one of the design blueprints on our armour and install an aditional sound chip.
Whenever somebody shoots at our armour and hits, it says:
"As if by magic, your shot is stopped just a few inches before it hits the armour. You stand amazed at this marvel of modern technology, briefly wondering how you could possibly stand a chance against this enemy."

>>27905097
Indistinguishable from human norms, please.
>>
>>27905097
I'm not sure about the stasis sheilds as how effective are they at this moment in time?

As for what the arm is going to look like I wouldn't mind it showing that we have a cyber arm.
>>
>>27905097
>You cant get any data on the Staff/Shield out of the Alliance, they've got nothing. The Neeran have never been forthcoming about their technology. You would be farther ahead to talk to a Krath intelligence network.
Simply tell them that there were no Neeran's retaking their super special capital ship. It was their own stupidity that they lost it, and in exchange for their ship back we want information on the staff and shield or else we send the ship to Sonia's Salvage. (Probably not the smartest thing to do... but I'm sure we have a few ways we can convince them to play ball)

>You mean the stasis shields that are still only in the earliest design stages
Whatever weird shield the Neeran was using to redirect our shots. Do the Neeran have one of those?

>How do you want the external covering to look?
Realistic as possible. So much we can sometimes forget we have a cybernetic limb. At least until our father hacks it off in a lightsaber duel and remembers his... wait... wrong plot.
>>
>>27905097
Why not combine the two? Make it look mostly human except for certain select parts such as the elbow and shoulder regions. Depending on where we put the neural interface
>>
I may have to put up a survey for the arm and leave it up for awhile just to be sure.

>>27905343
>I'm not sure about the stasis sheilds as how effective are they at this moment in time?

Right now the portable stasis fields are about the size of a football and create a field large enough to encompass a humanoid. They cant be configured for any other shapes yet and 2-5 of phase rifle shots will cause it to collapse.
So basically walking around with a surfboard on your arm.

>>27905406
There is currently a Republic/PCCG taskforce surrounding the ship along with a few people on behalf of the Factions Alliance.

>Whatever weird shield the Neeran was using to redirect our shots. Do the Neeran have one of those?
If you mean the micro RPG's you were launching being redirected that was apparently an active repulsor field more powerful than your suit could mount. Actually the suit reactors would have to be several times more powerful.
>>
>>27905668
Say, would it be possible to integrate stasis field generators into the armour designes of our troops?

Not to act as a shield, but to activate if they get critically wounded. It wouldn't need more than enough power to last for an hour or two.
>>
>>27905632
I would be up for that but maybe add the wrist and where the fingers connect to the hand. They amount of cybernetics seen would be equal to how big the joints were.

With the fingers you would barely see anything and it would simply be able to seem more once you go from wrist to elbow to shoulder.
>>
>>Arm options

We should just go for the most expensive thing possible.
>>
>>27905960
We could always wear fancy gloves at parties to cover up the joints if we want to hide the cybernetics... baby shark skin leather gloves to show how we have conquered a mother shark and stolen her babies to make exquisite gloves.
>>
>>27906116
We could have them clone an arm for us, and then cover it in shark skin. Not only would it probably look pretty fancy, but our arm would also be a lot more hydrodynamic!

Okay for options on the cybernetics I've got the following.

>Select 2 or 1 HEAVY option

Hacking module
Weapon (Ranged)
Weapon (Melee)
Advanced EM hardening
Sensor suite
Increased strength (WARNING: additional operations to strengthen spinal column necessary)
Deployable shield/Armor sections
Storage space (fuel/power cells, grenade, holdout pistol, various?)
HEAVY Deployable Shield/Armor sections
HEAVY Ranged weapon (Segmented Mass driver rifle, other)

Any others that should be added to the list before I post the survey? I searched a few places but saw little else that would work well.
>>

Anyways, added.
>>
>>27907334
Holographic camouflage, and projecting stuff elsewhere, if possible. Like the Neeran commando did.
>>
>>27906981
EM hardening is a must... last we need is an EMP knocking our arm out.

If the Hacking is the direct neural interface hacking we've done in the past then I'm all for getting that, if it's just a normal hacking program then skip it.

Strength is pointless since we have the suit for that and we really don't need to be Koolaid man at a ball since we have holdout weapons and gear.

If we're going cybernetic we might as well replace our skin with shark skin inlaid with very finely tuned sensors. So changes in air pressure and sound waves are picked up by our skin. (This one is kind of a joke because I think the full shark skin suit is going a little too far into the uncanny realm and will alienate us from future investors.)

The deployable shield sounds great... can we steal the designs for the HEAVY one and stick it on our armor rather than in our arm?
>>
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/F2RM7XN

>direct neural interface hacking we've done in the past
No, it's just a normal hacking module. You plug it in, it does the work.

>The deployable shield sounds great... can we steal the designs for the HEAVY one and stick it on our armor rather than in our arm?
You can buy experimental ones from the Republic, but they cant be equipped to the same arm you have a smart grapple on.

Got to give Sonia a hand for getting us into these situations.
>>
Well going on the assumption that if we need the tricks we have stored away we won't have access to our power armour or other weapons:

Hacking module - Could be highly useful depending on how strong it is.
Weapon (Ranged) - A pulse pistol could be useful, anything heavier would be hard to hide.
Weapon (Melee) - No need, we could just do some neck snapping with out cyber grip strength.
Advanced EM hardening - Mandatory, if we are going cyber we have to make sure we don't lose it to the most common method of jamming.
Sensor suite - About as useful as the hacking module, but what kind?
Storage Space - Highly useful

I voted for EM Hardening and storage space. The storage space could be big enough to conceal any of the first three.
>>
>>27908256
Also if we put weapons on it we won't be allowed in some of the Balls. Remember the weapons check in Lath'am. Granted they were trying to pull a coup, but imagine how things would have gone if we weren't there with the idea to cut through the wall and lead the counter attack?
>>
>>27908256

I imagine that 'storage space' would be more readily detected by scans, while a dedicated hacking module/weapon might pass for part of the bionic and be overlooked due to being purpose built.

So one yes, and 3 no's. I knew I was forgetting to add something to the survey but oh well.

Still you look over the other contents of the safety deposit box. Lets see, jems and other baubles. The technical diagrams that Alex couldn't make sense of... you take those to the EX-K's chief engineer.

"These are for systems and technology." he states, looking them over.

"Yeah I figured that,"

"Shh! The diagrams seem simple enough but they describe very advanced systems. Ones we couldn't hope to replicate yet. Soon, but not yet. This one uses drive focusing systems to amplify energy input I think. I think one of these is a plasma channel discharge weapon, a lighting gun. Another looks like a reactor but doesn't make sense to me."

He hands you one of the plates. "This one definitely doesn't belong. It's a map."
Looking it over it seems to show a map of two hemisphere of a planet with structures covering either pole. Other than that you don't know what to make of it.

What do you plan to do with the box contents and by extension the letter as well?

Don't scan anything, send them to house R&D, or the factions R&D. This is now considered top secret and before we do ANYTHING with it we have to confirm the reason why the wizard gave it to us.

Also make sure the chief knows he is NOT to talk about this to anyone.
>>
>>27909139
He gave it to us because he was the only intelligence Neeran who realized the ceasefire was a trap. Unlike his hair-brained brothers he prepared for the situation and provided us with intelligence that would give us a fighting edge against the Dark Ones. Most likely the map is to research locations that are researching those fighters or other things. He gave it to us knowing we, being the salvage queen we are, would race to the location and secure it before the Neeran could. I say, we follow his last will and go check out the treasure map!

Also, no need to black list the projects. We were given these by Merlin. It's not something we secretly stole. We should keep it hush-hush, but not as blacked out as our stealth tech.

Sharksknin gloves is one thing.

However i like the idea of not going with either full on cybernetic or full on bio but best of both worlds.

I am thinking augmenting cyber implants in a cloned or grown limb. Somehow i suspect if it is grown it will better fit with the cyber doodads.

But i would still refer a a full bio unit so we can still do zero emission shit. There is most likely a reason pilots and spec ops prefer to not go full on cyborg, even with the advantages there most be equally large disadvantages, and said disadvantages might be to big for a elite pilot or operative that must be able to pull of any kind of mission and not be just a specialist tool, lik other armed forces.
>>
>>27909297
>>27909139

Indeed, lets not treate this as stealing from the Terrans.

Sonia kind of likes the Sivdur even if she would like to mindrape him in return for that one time...

So we are not carting them off to house R&D.
We are however making two or three copies of everything, preferably on paper or some very old edata storage device that is by now so obsolete no one has any idea how to use and we stash them somewhere very, very safe. In fact we stash them in multiple places, and in no place will there be the full data on anything.

We are not going to use this strait ahead, but that does not mean we are not going full paranoia on the security of said data like it is the duty of Psycho sonia to do so.

"Sure." He idly responds, not really taking his attention off the diagrams. Until you pull them away that is.

Currently split decision on whether to scan them or hide them.

>Why cant we commission 2 or 3 arms and swap them out? I can imagine ecord having to dive bomb into sonia to switch an arm out in combat so she proceed with maximum efficiency
Kinda wish someone had mentioned a modular arm mount system earlier. Or that I had thought of it. Doh! Regardless I suppose you could go and have special ones prepared for balls and so on but swapping them out would take time if you wanted them to mesh better with the rest of your body and not put excessive strain on things.

Cybernetics are more vulnerable to EM weapons, especially the hidden setting on phase weaponry. Also you get drunk faster unless you're cheating. No those aren't the only reasons but the best ones I can remember right now.

Well a storage space could be shielded but even a basic x-ray exam will show a hollow void inside the arm, even if they can't see what's inside. Weapons and other stuff would be even easier to detect.

Hmm, I think we should go the multiple-arm route. Have one for regular use with a storage compartment for carrying sensitive stuff. Have a souped up Jensen cyber arm for SHTF combat meant to be worn under power armour. And another SHTF one built to look perfectly human for balls and stuff like that. The latter two would have to be swapped out but we should have plenty of advanced warning.

If you want a starship grade one you would have better luck getting equipment off the Republic. The one in the diagram seems to be for a much smaller one, possibly man portable. R&D people would need to look it over.
>>
>>27914828
Wait so WITH shark skin won? I thought that was kind of tacky. Anyhow if it's a split between hacking and sensors, what kind of sensors are we talking about? Sensors could be useful all the time, whereas hacking is very specialized and maybe vulnerable to counter-attack.

And does this rule out getting a modular arm later? Because we hardly lack for funds and I'm sure we will think of more of cool mods we could add to it. That can wait until we (finally) get around to that RnR.

About the lightning gun. I think what we wanted to do was to mod a plasma cannon into an electrolaser so that you could use the beam to carry a charge. In theory this would have a better range than the existing lightning guns. But since nothing like this exists yet you said it would be an R&D project, so the neeran gun will probably help a little with that.

Also how viable would plasma point defence be? I was thinking that we might be able to mount them co-axially on the existing mass driver turrets. But if they don't work any better than particle beams there wouldn't be much point.

here

I'm willing to bet that Svidur's letter to us has information that goes with the dyson sphere map or possibly the other diagrams. He wouldn't leave us a map without some way to locate the sphere.

I still say we should spread at least some of these diagrams among the Factions (for our profit and favor-gaining, of course. Gotta make the money for shark projects!)

We need to face the fact that J&D and Sonia are small fry, and our first course of action in growing into the next weight class is to acquire favor and support. Our resources will allow J&D to strengthen with these schematics, but if we want to make use of 'advanced systems. Ones we couldn't hope to replicate yet' during this war, we need to get the full technological power of the Factions on it.

We then use the favor/profit/tech from some of the designs to strengthen J&D to the point it can produce the designs we held in reserve.

We don't want to hang onto the designs for WW2 aircraft and tanks when we're in WW1 and trying to break the trench warfare.

And if we even get a fraction of a % of sales [not profit, fuck that noise] for the diagrams, we'll be rolling in shark-related dosh.

As always, I like to suggest we consult the Commander on this plan as well. We owe her for several instances of good will, like her honoring our offer of amnesty to the guys in the smuggler's run that surrendered because of it. And, if we make sure that our actions bolster her, we can keep giving her headaches by passing them up the ranks.

Does anyone know of a good program/system to build tech trees in? I'm in a little over my head with the full Factions Alliance R&D tech options.

>This lightning gun, is it similar to Svidur's staff?
You take a look at the diagrams then review your sensor records from just before you were struck by lightning. Sure enough when the Neeran appears holding the staff its changed shape so that it's end forms a shape similar to the Republic PPCD Gun used on some of their Medium cruisers. The diagrams are a little different but close enough.

You get hold of Commander Winifred on a secure channel. She's twelve hours journey from your position along with most of the House fleet. They're preparing to head across the cluster and from there through the Terran Nav Relays back to the Centri Cluster.

"I've read your reports Captain. If this is what Neeran are capable of at their full potential then I am glad most of the ones encountered before the war were with the Isolationists."

You tell her about the safety deposit box and the letter but only give a rough outline about its contents. No mention is made of any plans to share them with House R&D just yet. Lastly are your plans to go looking for the control center.
>Tell the Commander we are off chasing down Diamonds the size of planets... planet sized diamonds... DIAMOND PLANET!

"Captain you're now on leave from the Alliance for the next 6 months. Our ships and crews are returning home where we'll likely be paraded through the streets of the capital. Your command ship is owned fully by the House, if you wish to remain on station or go back to Shallan space on your free time it will have to be using your own property and volunteers. You do own your own battlecruiser now don't you?"

>What say?
>>
>>27923491

"It seems I'll need to show you the picture I have of these diamonds in person, Commander."

We should probably hitch a ride through the big jump on the Commander's ship, if possible. She's more likely to have a trusted engineer loyal to her that can examine some of the stuff we have.

Of course we'll speak to her on that in person.
>>
>>27923606
This is good.
>>
>>27923491
Unfortunately at the moment said battlecruiser is was left at home and would require that we got back to get it or wait for it to be shiped here. She wouldn't happen to have a spare ship lying around that we could "Borrow" would she?

If she can't lend us anything we could always ask the PCCG guys or maybe the alliance since we are basically asking to help out there search. Hell, if we could hitch a ride on a ship heading back to Shallan space and then hitch another ride on a ship that is helping out with the search if we can't get a ship.
>>
>>27923689

Chasing after the CC is pointless. Svidur is either KIA or a POW, and we don't have a cloaked ship to slink around on a wild goose chase in.

The only connections we have left to Svidur are what he left us, until we find out that he was one of the rogue Isolationists and the Isolationists are actually the bad guys and screams 'Just as planned, what a tweeest!'
>>
>>27923762
Svidur is the wizard who snuck us advanced tech and is the only Neeran that has been shown to have a sense of humor.

The least we could do is search from him and try to save him if he is still alive and if not return him to his people.
>>
>>27923762
Exactly! Those super powered lvl 99 guys have him. They'll either let him bleed out holding his insides in with his hand, or they'll repair him and stick him in a prison camp (or worst case they zombie him like they did to the guards)

Let's persue what Merlin left us, I'm not a big fan of returning all the way home to get our ship when this could be a time sensitive race with the Dark Ones to the prize.
>>
>>27923881

They used a wormhole to escape, meaning they had a head start of days on us, ignoring the delays we'll have getting a new ship and even beginning to search for the CC.

If friendly forces in Shallan space don't rescue him, we sure as hell won't, and there are 3 Neeran Commandos + cyber zombies they'll have to kill.

There is doing something for a friend that can make a difference and then there is wasting time for nothing. Searching for the CC personally is the latter.
>>
>>27923900
Saving Svidur could also be time sensitive and last I checked we don't leave jobs have finished.
>>
>>27923900
To add to that, the super Neerans may just take Gandalf with them in the race to this special planet research base since he knows about it, or can be used for entry.

Also, I'd the commander doesn't like us using our ship can she expedite ship or shark to us and we will return this ship when our shark arrives. Our current ship well just be at the trail end of the parade. Till then we well use this ship to hunt down the ley line... wait, wrong plot.
>>
>>27923689
>Unfortunately at the moment said battlecruiser is was left at home and would require that we got back to get it or wait for it to be shiped here.
Yep. One of the downsides of not having it sent up to the front earlier.
>She wouldn't happen to have a spare ship lying around that we could "Borrow" would she?
Not spare per se since the reserve ships have been transferred to other units still at the front. You do own a majority share of a couple of the cruisers in the unit, you could buy out one of them like the Bittenfeld.
There's the light transport you picked up in Shallan space after you abandoned ship which you technically own.
And lastly you're in the Pandora Cluster atm. You could hire Mercenaries or even buy a ship, though the mercs would be cheaper.

I'm currently trying to collect your financial data but every search for "mutual fund" crashes my windows explorer search bar.

>>27923762
>and the Isolationists are actually the bad guys
I suppose that would depend on your point of view.
Who was worse, Zeon or the Earth Federation?
>>
>>27924021

Zeon in 79, then EF due to Titans, then it sort of continued to swap between factions with/after every war.

>Do we even have information on where this damned sphere is or may be? I assume the coordinates weren't given to us.
It's here.
The largest galaxy in Shallan space, they haven't settled it nearly as much because of delays in mapping out stable FTL corridors through the denser areas. There were colonies established there in the mid Faction wars by prospectors but they were all abandoned in the years after the wars when the Neeran raided them.
The Nai homeworld is also located in the same galaxy.
So far the Neeran Empire hasn't pushed into the region heavily since there is less industry present to capture or deny to the Factions. There are currently +200 registered colonies with populations of more than 100 million.

Do we still have salvage-based rewards due to us from the House, or did they solve the money crisis enough to fully pay us out?

And did we ever turn in all the ships we put out to pasture for later recovery during the first two stages of Operation Typhoon?

I'm all for buying out the Bittenfeld, regardless of if we get dragged into a Wizard/Dyson Sphere hunt.

Though I wonder if we couldn't contact some of our Alliance friends and see if they believe the location warrants Alliance assets already in the local area converging on it. [or the Rovinar, they owe us a favor]

Since a few of us are deadset on going all the way back to shallan space in the hope of somesort of closure with the wizard. We may as well use our favours from everyone and that d100 on it.

Personally im against it. We had what, 50 marines against 3 neeean super commandos and an unknown number of zombies. Im pretty sure if 3+ ships compliment of marines couldnt handle them, than 50 marines with 10 in powercell stand no chance in holding out against that.
>>

I have to agree. Going back in anything that isn't a super stealth ship with incredible speed is just asking to get is captured or killed.

Could we ask for the Krath(?) to lend us a cloaked ship for this?

Also, we "could" make a small speech about how it's the time we have all been waiting for: Returning home for a good rest, insert joke about not getting too drunk when you get back, and there will no doubt be lots of celebration with their return.

But, we won't be joining them in the celebration. When the C&C used a wormhole to escape there was a good friend still on it and we are going to chase after him.

We are already making arrangements for a ship, but any who would like to join their Noble knight on one last crazy mission would be welcome to do so.

Mostly resolved though you can still buy some salvage that hasnt been repaired yet at greatly reduced price.

I think most of them? Most, not all.
>we never did tell them about those ships in Operation Typhoon.
I was under the impression you did. I could be mistaken though.

The K-type attack cruiser that you located near the Vieona is still outbound on a sublight course where it can recovered in a couple of years. That one you definitely didn't tell anyone about except for the pirates who were there and they were hauled off by the Terrans.

>Though I wonder if we couldn't contact some of our Alliance friends and see if they believe the location warrants Alliance assets already in the local area converging on it. [or the Rovinar, they owe us a favor]
The suspected location of the control center which is being searched for or the Dyson sphere? The location of the latter has been known for awhile. The Factions try to keep it off limits so science teams can do their thing and looters wont go nuts. Using your Alliance security clearance it seems that the science station that was placed in orbit in the interior some time ago has recently been appropriated. The Alliance are upgrading it and installing repair docks to support Light cruisers and smaller.

>Should we use this time to set up our salvage company?
Up to you guys and how you wanted to do it.

Start small with the number of ships you can afford, use your current money to finance some loans so you can kick off a larger company from the get go.
Also what sort of ships you would want to use for salvage work.
Then there's crews for the ships and where you want to hire them from.
>>
You know I've been weighing what we know so far and decided to apply Occam's Razor.

Isolationist Neeran are given "stewardship" over a Dyson Sphere. Neeran Empire later invades, at GREAT cost, for seemingly some other reason than simply wiping out all the Isolationists. Diplomatic talks are attempted, discarded immediately be Empire. Ship is captured and used to teleport to regions unknown.

What if they used it to teleport inside the Dyson Sphere?

... I think it's time to open that letter.
>>
Just a question. We know the location of the CC right? So why dont we leave this to local SAR assets. It would take us what, 11 days to make it back to shallan space, plus in system travel time?

We are a long way out. We should just leave this to local forces. The sphere is in shallan space though and that might be then intresting bit. Im in favour returning for that but not some wishy washy SAR operation where we are to far out.

>>27925818
Also no. Our crew has been EXTREMELY good to us. Guilting them is not right. I refuse to go for that.
>>
>>27925921

I was asking about the Dyson Sphere. in regards to the Alliance. I have to assume that Svidur gave us that damned map for a reason.

did the Control Center go to the local area of the Dyson Sphere? The only reason I can think of to not leave this to local forces that would have nearly 12 days or more of a head start would be if we have proof that those 3 Neeran want to get into that Dyson Sphere for something.

Now, I wonder if Svidur's note would have anything on that Dyson Sphere we might like to know about...

>>27926245
>finally set up salvage company

do want.
>>
>>27926367
I would say finance some loans to kick off with a larger company from the get go.

As for what types of ship I would say an even mix of Y-type and Molli transports with maybe a U-haul or two if we can afford it.

As for where to hire crews I would say our good friend from the PCCG Militia might some ideas or better yet....we ask our father. He is no doubt in the loop about such things since he is in logistics and depending on his duties he might be able to manage the basics of hiring and what not for until we get back.

We should call him either way.
>>
>>27926556
And there is that barge that was/ near ready for duty to think about as we could really use that as well.
>>
>>27926556
Also an anon form another thread pointed out that we might be able to work out of the DHI's pandora cluster base to start out.
>>
>>27926556

I think we should start with a small company, at first. See what the House is willing to sell us. If we grabbed perhaps a pair of transports and a few standard corvettes, we could have the corvettes chase down debris/scout for important pickings and tractor it toward the transports.

If our salvage group ends up being ambushed or runs into a ship that was playing dead, I'd rather suffer a big hit and not have to still pay off a loan on lost assets.

As for where we'll get people? I'm sure we can get a core of capable specialists from J&D, those [Republic, were they?] 'pirates' that stole the medium cruiser from the shipyard and helped us out to recover our pilot after the last Rovinar mission, and the Smuggler's Run.

Sure, we shot those guys in the medium cruiser after they helped us, but if they're willing to work with us to see the universe some more... we do believe in second chances, don't we?

And we did save a whole lot of people on that planet in the smuggler's run, among a few other groups we tried to be fair with. Surely some would love some legit work and to see the universe a bit?
>>
>>27926797
While I don't agree with the company size I do agree with grabbing some standard corvettes.
>>
>>27926678
>And there is that barge that was/ near ready for duty to think about as we could really use that as well.
You traded House salvage to the Terrans for some of their their salvage and secured a suitable Barge. Said Barge was then converted while under repair to serve as a forward mobile repair dock. Its completed and only just made it to the front. Some of the other Wings now headed into combat are expected to make use of it.

>>27926757
>Also an anon form another thread pointed out that we might be able to work out of the DHI's pandora cluster base to start out.
Yes you probably could, but the question is do you really want to right now? Yes its a crossroads so it is well placed to send ships anywhere but there isn't much work right in the cluster.

There are still graveyards left in the Smugglers Run that need to be sifted through, parts from many of which supply the local shipyard(s).
Or you could try to go for the high value Alliance contracts in Shallan Space.
South Reach also needs a lot of ships with planetary lift capability to rebuild their infrastructure.

Throw ideas out. I'll post a survey in the morning and that'll be it for this week. We don't have enough posts to continue and I have to work through the day.
>>
Open the letter, buy out the Bittenfeld, call up the Rovinar and ask for a Silent Hunter.

>>
>>27927033

Anon that suggested using DHI Pandora as a starting base:

I figured that we could use our salvage transports to help bring the DHI facility supplies/equipment as a way of offsetting our fuel/repair costs at first, especially if we were going to send our ships after war zone contracts.

I'm also >>27926797

Really, I think the costs of the ships we'd like to obtain will heavily factor into our starting company size. If we take out loans for ships, we'll likely need to take on higher paying jobs to get the loans paid off. Those jobs are likely dangerous and combat related, meaning risk of losing assets that we haven't paid off yet.

I have no idea what kind of ships would be best suited to this, but what if we got perhaps a flight of ships specifically together for C/SAR?

Say we got 3 or so smuggler frigates and a bunch of shuttles. We hop in, use speed/shuttles to recover crews/fighters, possibly help tractor damaged ships to speed for a micro jump out.

Though planetary lift ships like frigates would likely be better off in South Reach, profit-wise.
>>
One last thing, how much many do you want to keep set aside for things like R&D, expansion of the underground area beneath the Lodge, spending money for high class balls, spiffy new weapons, etc.

30%?
>>
>>27926004
I too am in full support of this glorious plan to acquire a stealth sp ship.

Let's grab the ship, buyout bittonfield and use them in tandem. Stealth goes in, if shit goes down them we call in our backup to help us retreat. We can't take on Neeran forces with one or two ships.

Let's check out this Dyson sphere
>>
>>27927299

I'd say we should aim to invest an absolute MAXIMUM of 50% of our unassigned funds into a company, with an ideal target of closer to 25-35%.

Then again, I know nothing of how much the transport ships we'd be looking at would cost, and I'm thinking 2 transports + 4-6 standard Corvettes [from J&D] + the FREE Constellation.

and the breakdowns on my proposed budget...

MAX $ LIMIT: 22.1 Million
TARGET $ range: ~11-15.5 Million
>>
>>27927371
Im pretty sure the ship will just be on loan i doubt they will give out one of their top of the line stealth ships just like that
>>
>>27927818
Then we aren't throwing enough money at the problem!
>>
If it isnt already decided, i'd just like to chime in and say im against looking for the command center.

Didn't it take us close to a week to get to the shallan cluster and we'd also be waiting for an unspecified amount of time in PCCG space for the Rovinar Silent hunter, which if i recall are also all in Shallan space doing deep recon.

So we're looking at something like a week - 2 week wait for the stealth ship to come to us, since the house wants all ships back. And another week of transit into Shallan space.

If we buy out the bittenfield, and meet up with the stealth ship in Shallan space, who is watching the Bittenfield? Shallan space is a warzone, and the bittenfield is a combat class vessal owned by a private citizen, im pretty sure someone from higher up is gonna attempt to take it for military use when we arnt around.

And what are we gonna do when we get there a week or two later? The wizard has his guts spilling out, I dont think their physiology will let them live for a week+ with an open wound touching unsanitized flooring like that. And the fact there are 3 neeran special forces guys and those chipped guys that got teleported out. Like an anon earlier who pointed out the amount of troops we had against theese guys, those 50 marines in the cc are dead.

I just dont think its worthwhile to waste all this time for something so stacked against us. Im also of the mind that we can afford to lose Shallan space, since its so far out that the supply lines for the factions are spread to thin.
This dosnt apply to the neeran since they seem to carry their logistics in their city ships. So if we can bring them closer we can bring more force to bear on them and with a shorter supply chain.

...just some thought...
>>
Yeah I guess we need to regroup and come back stronger. Get some time off, get that ship of ours up and running again. Manage all of those things and ideas we have been putting off way too long.

It sucks that were were SO DAMN CLOSE to pulling it off. But this whole circus was a massive suckerpunch the brass should have seen coming and we did pretty well under the circumstances.

Svidur probably isn't dead because if they had wanted to do that they could have done it already. But we should open his letter now because he is effectively lost to us and we can't afford to wait any longer.

The CC capsule probably ended up at or near the Dyson Sphere which almost certainly has defences of it's own. Either way the Alliance will probably confirm it while we are away.
>>
Im gonna assume the survey for tomorrow will be how we proceed from here. Can I get some clarification on some things before that?

- SAR assets for our guys are on the way right? Its been 3 days after all..
- If we use our favour, will we keep the Stealth Ship or is it on temporary loan?
- We are still part of JD military and the wing commander, so if we refuse to return to Dominion space and buyout the Bittenfield and leave, will we be considered a military officer or civilian captain? Id hate to be considered AWOL and have these actions reflect on our transcript or something just cause we are off rescuing/investigating somethings. This would also apply to anyone who came with us I guess.
- And lastly is this a house order to return the fleet, or just normal rotation of line units?

Thanks for running the quest, cant participate much do to work but I do vote as often as I can.
>>
>>27928341
>- SAR assets for our guys are on the way right? Its been 3 days after all..
The ship is already secured. Most casualties have been accounted for and the ship is currently surrounded by a combined Republic/PCCG taskforce while they figure out what to do with the ship.

In the original timeline the ship didn't suffer nearly as much damage, made it to Republic and attacked the capital in a suicide run. The Senate was destroyed and billions were killed, which would have fragmented the still recovering Faction for month or years had the upper levels of government not been relocated. Former members of the Rebel leadership insisted that the government be moved elsewhere while it was being restructured.
Ultimately the attackers failed to achieve their primary objectives and didn't escape with any advanced technology.

Man, I wrote that before I ever heard of Gundam 0083. Now the similarities seem uncanny.

This time things happened differently. I need to figure out how this changes things.

>- If we use our favour, will we keep the Stealth Ship or is it on temporary loan?
Its a keeper, though don't expect it to be as good as that prototype you fought. By top of the line I mean of the ones being mass produced.

>so if we refuse to return to Dominion space and buyout the Bittenfield and leave, will we be considered a military officer or civilian captain?

You're a Knight and if the ship is your property the lines blur a little. The House would like you to return though if you decide to stay and fight on your own time so be it as long as you're only risking your own assets. The bigger issue is the crew as you've been out in the field for awhile now.

It's a normal rotation of line units.

Er, note that Tugs and light attack ships generally don't have FTL so they need to hitch a ride on a larger ship for salvage operations.
A Constellation light transport could be configured to move one through FTL but then it wouldn't be able to do anything else.

">Salvage company
I wonder what kind of ship would be best for that from those salvaged. Most of the transports would be wanted for the cargo hauling. You already scooped up a damaged Barge for use as a field repair ship. Which is/was almost ready btw.

My go to Salvage ships in the setting are usually the Molli or Y-types since they're both big enough and numerous enough.

There's the U-Haul, but with the ability to modify them into combat craft they'll be in high demand.
