Now, we'd like to think you guys aren't just another hired gun we can send down there to mindlessly hack and hack at our underflank. We're looking for someone with a mastery of the underground, and we're looking for it in you. We're thinking of asking you to set up a sort of. . .colony under us. We can arrange a continued supply of material gathered from down there, in a fair deal of course, and all we ask is that you take care of our tunnel problem for us. We can supply you with all the weapons and tech you need to deal with down there, and in exchange a handsome cut of whatever you can mine from underneath us."

>>27814033Well if you insist. We'll just have to keep calling them or someone else back to deal with the underground threat anyway. We had 1000 loots to last us 30 years on that deal, and not to mention we can resupply through scavange and trade. Here I was hoping we could finally let the undergrond be someone elses issue.

Rolled 77>>27818879More writefaggotry it is then. Cause Flesh Worker is locked at 5 votes with that post.
>>27818879That's exactly what I'm trying to get at.And I know a way to go from there.
Rolled 87>>27818859What is it exactly?
Rolled 33>>27817421You are a worker of the flesh and your ride just ended as you can feel your craft being expelled...your not exactly sure where. Really only that you somehow escaped the clusterfuck of the seas. That was when you were directed in land by the little miss. So you veered of that way and decide to ask why....Going to find out more about Umbra no way better then that then their arch nemisis.Eh you could always visit her you know.I did and she told be much but I need to understand our Umbra Corp operates what better way that then their enemies? She had a point there you admit so you continued the craft flying inland rapidly passing over the landscape. You will admit you would love to know how she modified this craft the way it did...it seemed alive and only grudgingly allowed you to use it almost.Besides I want to check out Carlson world already and Mister Light told me me some stuff about it sounds like fun....when did you meet Mister Light?remember Carlson World? You shuddered.
>>27818957Its this>>27818991Excuse me while I scream in joy
Rolled 76>>27819016Someone picked up on the hints. I am happy by the way you know those choices you have? They are all occurring but you are only allowed to see one of them. That is what the voting is for to determine which. Still might not be enough you know.Remember you can try to communicate(how) with one of the three monster heroes(choose 1).Can always call someone else up as well.
Rolled 60>>27819104I am not going to allow you to be saved by a previous civ's heroes otherwise you will just keep bringing them back. New Civ new heroes might make an appearance of the older ones. Not to mention brood mothers are rather evil and prefer darkness over the light.
Rolled 84>>27819157Basically vetoed for a number of reasons cause there are certainly a number of them. A crit can nullify 1 reason while excellent points can eliminate more.
>>27819157Very well.>5 minutes of universal rewind"So, you're these so called "Gods of Energy? Eh?"The 5 glowing creatures stare at Mr. Light, speaking to him beyond words. Their heads bowed down."Hmm, quite ironic. I designed your type to protect people, and bring hope and peace, not convince others to behead them and toss them down a pyramid and bow down to you. Very well, while the Saal restart and mop up the park and do some serious reconsideration, you guys will have to atone. Get to work,"
Rolled 47In any case what shall you do?Beg for mercy?Reason with the monsters?Option 4?
>>27819222Point of note, there are 5 of these Jinn and 5 WARNING events.I can imagine, interesting uses for them.
>>27819303How about a "sacrifice" of new heroes? >>27819222The death of the false gods of energy.
Rolled 53>>27819322I am not going to let up pull something like that out of your ass. Cause then you will just use fluff to use it to get out binds even if said contents of said fluff may or may not be far away. Leaves a bad taste allowing a get of jail free card for whenever just because you are willing to burn some fluff.
>>27819367Well that was the last of the fluff I was planning on making. After that things are set in stone, and these guys are the only ones left.
Rolled 46>>27819367Not that this>>27819222 didn't happen just that you can't use it as throw away fate point. I life fluff I don't like it when efforts not used to secure it and you try to burn it anyway.
>>27819395Are you still asking for input or writing?
Rolled 97>>27819395Can we sacrifice...Goddamn, we only have 3 accessible heroes...and I get a feeling that No-Mad will result in a Voss/Vass situation...oh well, better to live to fight another day...*sigh* So it's come to this...No-Mad.Goddamn I hate the bitter taste of losing a hero.
Rolled 76>>27819521Need input
>>27819544Not nomad! That guy survived far more than you can imagine. If anyone is to survive, let it be him. Let him escape the otherworldly force a 2nd time.I'd like to see how Arch Paladin or MK ninja saves the candle light, if only a little longer.
Rolled 1>>27819564We chose to view the Flesh Worker, so even though the Arch Paladin and MK Ninja have made their decisions we don't get to know what they were. Our "3rd option" here has something to do with communicating with one of the 3 commanders...Maybe the underground commander? Maybe have Mr. Light talk to it?Goddamn, fuck you Lurklas. You were supposed to come back and kill this for us.
>>27819556Alright, how about Arch Paladin? Twas his sword that released this foe, and his heart burns with the fury to end that which he unleashed.
Rolled 68>>27819564Feel free to sacrafice a hero even if they arn't there.>>27819599NOW the fucking 1 shows up.As for the Lurklas ran far and fast.
Rolled 87>>27819599THAT WAS DISCUSSION THAT WAS DISCUSSION THAT WAS DISCUSSION THAT WAS DISCUSSION THAT WAS DISCUSSION THAT WAS DISCUSSION THAT WAS DISCUSSION THAT WAS DISCUSSION
>>27819599Phew, thank god that was a discussoin.
>>27819611Fuckers, a simple line of communication was all it could've taken.Alright, I'm thinking of something.
>>27819611Can we sacrifice the Scoutmaster's soul, floating in the aether not here?
>>27819631We still have the option to establish lines of communication with any of the commanders. Time has not progressed from the point that the spires erupted out of the ground and such, we've just gotten a glimpse of what went on somewhere else.
>>27819599I was thinking having Chrysopoeia speak to them. But if that can't be done, Mr. Light can attempt diplomacy.
>>27819665Picli has a silvetongue as well.Speaking of which I wonder if our neighbors have been rudely awoken right now.
Rolled 73>>27819633If their dead then they can't do anything.
>>27819665Chrysopoeia? Is that one of those energy gods?
>>27819682>>27819665I'd be willing to bet that No-Mad might have some as-yet-untapped/undiscovered negotiation skills. Being purely logical and all. He also suggested making a bargain with one of the factions.
>>27819685Yeah, the false ones. But we can't just burn them like fatepoints.Still thinking.
>>27819694If the ghouls were around, we have radiation capabilities out of our ears. And they have zombies.
>>27819721I'm not sure the ghouls would be open to parlay with us. They probably see themselves as in the position of strength (even before all of this nastiness).
>>27819746Which factions do recommend then?
Rolled 64>>27819770No idea you got several to choose from and you could always talk with others.
>>27819746The surface one seems more logical, the air seem like bandits or something. Underground hates us for what we did.
>>27819770The Underground Commander. Let's initiate communications with them. Have Mr. Light be visible if possible, I guess.>>27819798I don't know...for some reason I'm feeling like the key is the underground commander. I could be wrong.
>>27819808Well if the voice of reason is wrong, then the quest is unsalvagable. I will support that.
>>27819822Now don't go saying that, it's just a gut feeling, I have no idea what I'm doing in this instance. Just fumbling at straws that I think my subconscious might be granting me glimpses of.
Rolled 86>>27819872Well your got feeling might of had a point.>>27819808Why that one?
>>27819902Because to spread the light, you must understand the dark. And underneath us, we must find out the source of all this.
Rolled 21>>27819959In any case you can only try to communicate(how) with one so choose carefully.1 vote underground1 vote surface
>>27819902I honestly don't know...I guess maybe since all of the primary problems here are originating from the underground/biological faction, we only happened to discover flesh-lined tunnels by the barest chance (the double-100) and that just set alarm bells off by itself, what the Lurklas said about the thing they had been fighting underground (I'm still not quite sure on what the significance of its corruption and them having to evolve against it are though), No-Mad suggesting we strike a bargain with Horrors and Nightmares...It's (almost entirely) intuition, but that's the supporting evidence I can recall off of the top of my head.
guys mabey if we are going to have peacefull talks with the underground guy we will have to call off the crusade which is good and badgood: we get the paladins back alive for resupply and might make headway with underground dudebad:that crusade seems to be going strong (possibly still fueled by the roll that started it) we will lose the ground we gained under ground and we will lose our small chance of strikeing a fatal blow underground (sacrifice)
>>27819991I'll look for more...I wonder what that film at the volcano and the significance of the volcano is...I wonder why the underground is so noxious and hot and why there's lava everywhere (like the Lurklas said, we never stopped to think WHY the underground was like it was)...
>>27820007>getting them to call of the crusadeEasier said then done. Even abandoned by all they are still charging forward.
>>27820027Additionally, I wonder why you asked me these questions: >>27819902 ......Where have you hidden the answer this time...I never did have time to look over the other threads thoroughly.
>>27820034well ede said that the crusade wont end till we call it off implying that we have some control over it
>>27820081Problem is communication with them. If we still have it, how are we going to justify calling it off?
Rolled 5>>27820073With some critical thinking its not hard to figure out the monster commander who will be most willing to talk even without trawling over the threads.
>>27820073There's some connection between Mr. Light and Rizal and whoever's commanding the biological forces (they have command over monsters, and can evidently build them too. Distinctively broodmother-esque features)...the Paladins are hitting the tunnels hella hard and have been for a while, and they get a bonus against evil things but monsters aren't evil by default I don't think so they had to be being controlled.Somehow there were ghouls and zombies down there too. Were they getting attacked by monsters?
>>27820133Okay, that was a freebie.Next hurdle, what to say to him.So, underground communication anyone?
>>27820124"hey guys this may all just be a big misunderstanding" wow that sounds weak even to me i dont know someone could fluff somthing up im terrible at these diloge thing. i got hired on into the R&D department to come up with fancy new gadgets (of which i have a few ideas but this hardly seems the time)
>>27820152>>27820133Is it that simple? We have a force of 7000(minus casualties) elite+badass level warriors in the underground commander's HQ, and they get a buff to fighting its forces...so it's willing to make a deal?
>>27820168I think that an issue entirely necessary before what to say is how to speak to it.
Rolled 62>>27820174Don't forget the other 2 commanders. It may or may not be that commander. You also must wonder...who is the commander in chief? You would of known this if you had chosen the Arch Paladin(a hint) or MK Ninja(a certainty). In any case chat with which commander?AirGroundUnderground
>>27820174I highly doubt if it's a deal we're making, we're going to have leverage on our side instead of the otherway around. Whatever the matter, I'm going to pay great attention to how this goes.
Rolled 31>>27820215Don't forget there are other forces around you can try reasoning with or whatever your heroes might know about.
>>27820202I knew voting for MK Ninja was right. Goddamn I need to go with my gut more often. And that's what I might do here, I suppose...though it's very, very odd that there's a Mobile base on the surface that's just watching us.Goddammit, it's hard to decide because our survival rests on the decision and I can't get a confirmation!
>>27820257Listen hard and well to your gut. Get a damned stethoscope if you must.
>airdoubt it because of reasons i am too tired to comprehend>groundpossible because there were spore things and spreading grouth all over. the commander might be overseeing all that also maybe wanted to get out and strech his legs (or horrible tenticled apendages)>undergroundi think most likely here because if you control the tunnels you can expand anywhere and control anything. everythings gotta come down to earth eventualy
Rolled 77>>27820257You may only try to communicate with one Monster Commander. You already called up the flying base(didn't do much though). Could try some other group...or use your actions to see what you can find.
Rolled 67>>27820323Free hint for how they monster commanders will react.1 will laugh2 will listen3 will hate
>>27820282But to give ground to the ground, heh, just because the powersource is underneath us doesn't mean the head is on the surface.Lest we forget how the heart and SHW was under control miles and miles away.
>>27820354Erm, fix the grammar in that and you know what I mean.
>>27820282The air base is solo (and Cajun) so I'm agreeing with you thereThe ground forces are the Mobile Bases that showed up, I think that the spires and flying fleshbeasts count as part of the underground forces because they came from underground.I don't see any clear lines of coordination between the 'underground forces' and the mobile bases (except for the one mobile base that's staying still and watching us while the others go off to fuck the Urgsha...though I'm pretty sure the Urgsha have more than enough cards up their sleeves). So I don't think it's them in charge. The underground we know next to nothing (heh, we've forcibly been made wise) about, except that advanced monsters spewed forth after we broke through the volcanic membrane and all this shit went down likely as a result of that too.>>27820348Wait a second, Monster-Commanders? Is the "Monster Commander" of the surface in one of the mobile bases?
>>27820393But what reason would the mobile fort just sit and wait, out in the open? And why would they hate us so over the underground who now shift their rage from the lurklassholes to us?
>>27820393ede may need to clarify but i believe that everything that is coming at us right now is a different head of the same monster

Rolled 6>>27820451 who knows might be someone else Joe is a common name after all not to mention why bandit?>>27820465You did.
>>27820422>And why would they hate us so over the undergroundBecause they're Umbra Corp.
>>27820422they explained as they were turning tail that they made it because they never presented these beasties with a solid target. now that they are gone the monsters have all that pent up (literaly) rage and we are a very solid target
>yfw arguing between ground and underground>it's all brilliant reverse psychology, and the air is the right optionDo not believe any of the above two greentext posted
>>27820522. . .can't tell if. . .what?
>>27820447Alright, so the "Monster-Commander" of the surface is controlling all of the upgraded-monsters that came out of nowhere from all over the place when the paladins broke through the membrane of the volcano. Can we get a confirmation from the Colonel that the monsters surrounding our tower right now and the ones he+the borgs fought in the tunnels are the same?If they are, that means that the Monster-Commander probably hates us because we slaughtered his entire 'normal' force (which it has a personal-connection to...or something, because it 'twists' them). The Underground commander (if it's separate from the monster-forces swarming us) then is the one that deployed the massive flesh-beast spikes, and the flying beasts from the volcano, and we (essentially) have a knife to its throat (maybe) with the Paladins+Borgs.I've dismissed the air base because...I don't know. I hope EDE isn't so much a troll to make them the right answer. Also, they laughed. So the surface (possibly) hates us (because of the reasons above)Air laughed at us (one of them even died and is, as we speak, being turned into a delicious stew)That only leaves the underground...You don't even know how nervous I am pronouncing that...
>>27820476could you link the post please? im not seeing it
the last i see anything quoted from them is>>27816024after that is fluff of mercs bailing
>>27820549Yes...if my assumption about the monster-commander is true, then the Ghoul MB+Salvaged MB are teamed up...The other two bases came from the opposite direction (if I'm reading EDE's typo correctly >>27818100)...could they be Umbra and opposed? I don't know...fuck. (If they're Umbra, backup requested by Shadow-Extin then Rizal might be coming here for more experience with Umbra operations than just a chat w/ Mr. Light)
>>27820549>>27820595EDE, I've been in the top percentile for reading comprehension/critical reading on every standardized test I've taken since the 7th grade...and now maybe that doesn't mean as much as I thought it did, but you always have me guessing at what your hints mean. When in reality the most complicated of problems always have the simplest solution. >>27820549Colonel states the monsters on the surface seemed to be less optimal for tunnel fighting. So basically they seem to be different.>>27820558hm strange my post got miss placed damn it. That was a pain in the ass to write up too.Basically they kept hitting their flanks and outer bases. Every time they sent out scouts or something they hit those guys. When larger numbers came out they lured nasty critters their way to keep them busy while they picked them off. Basically dirty fighting and guerrilla fighting to the highest order. IF the monsters eve sent it its forces in force they would be overwhelmed. So they had to keep it off balance, contained, and paranoid. So which monster commander you want to talk too? How do you plan to communicate?Any other groups you want to call up?>>27820638Aw best part is its all interlinked and connected like a web. Crazy bastard. What can you expect from someone who is rumoured to have survived the Great storm, took part in the Ghoul Cruelsade, and even survived the Memor Reckoning?Damn really?Or so the stories.Meanwhile back at the Megatower on the top stood some lookouts.WWEEE-Did you just see a glowing man streak across the sky naked and crashed into a spire."Nope.""Then why are you staring into the Sun as tears rundown your face?""Some things are not supposed to be that awesome" answered the lookout looking as a Spire picks its self up revealing a monster underneath while glowy Joe hangs onto it its Spire(horn) for dear live. WWEEE- shouted GlowyJoe riding its horn while stuffing his special wappajacker into the crevices he created when he crashed into it as the monster reared in pain and desperately trying to shake him off.
>>27821171We're going to attempt to contact the Commander of Underground Forces. If he can't, then have all of our sensors look for a flying object that isn't the floating Mobile Base or the Flying Monsters we saw spew from No-Smokey)We'd also like to try and get in contact with the Urgsha, the Ghouls, and the Paladins if those are possible.

>>27821458we could merge the slicer shield with the disintigration shield for greater effect of bothwe could make slicer shield "landmines" basicly alter the shield so its "insideout" so instead of blocking stuff from the outside it holds things in. place them underground either individualy or in groups for larger creatures.so when it is triggered the victim is held stationary and then it is neatly sliced and diced as its allies watch in horror.i think i have more but its late and my creations elude me
Rolled 71>>27821534In any case you have three things on the line feel free to ask and come up with actions.Surface Monster CommanderGhoulsCaptain Morgan of the Urgsha.
Rolled 38>>27821600Those are good, I'll add them onto the list the other guy posted earlier (another list that will go to waste barely before it's used, it seems) Pull through for us, Glowy Joe...You're our only hope.
>>27821600Don't leave yet, your services can still be of use (as can your ideas)
>>27821641Alright, this is our final chance to save this candle gentlemen. Let us consider.Surface Monster Commander - I have no ideaGhouls - We have radiation and radiation accessoriesCaptain Morgan of the Urgsha - They consider glowing people as mutants. Maybe if we get the healing radiation mutation onto our humans we can proclaim ourselves mutant pure. BUt also they might be busy holding their own.
>>27821672oh im not going anywhere, just gona take a nap in the labs (they always get quiet right before the mad last ditch tech rush) R&D is always coming up with something, just not always at the right time
Rolled 3>>27821641Tell Captain Morgan of the Urgsha that we've identified One Mobile Base of unknown specification heading towards the Urgsha base, and that it seems to have an ally that is staying over near us for the moment.Tell him that the ghoulish Mobile Base and the one they salvaged/stole from us are also nearby, but don't seem to be taking any action on them.Ask the Ghouls what they're doing here, and what they want? Depending on the response we can tell them this >>27821723Ask the Surface Monster Commander How he likes the feel of GLOWY and AWESOME and DAKKA+CHOPPA, DON'T FUCK WITH THE MEMOR LEGACY BITCH!!!!!! okay, sorry. No not that, uhm...well I don't know now that Glowy Joe is fucking his shit up. We can ask the Monster Commander what he wants, if the board agrees.
>>27821766i think he wants that glowing fucker to stop tearing him a nwe asshole
Rolled 56>>27821723Ghouls don't care for any of that.Only mutants can mutate. You developed mutations not biomods. >>27821766"Hm good to know that they have arrived. Why are you calling anyway?"Ghouls state they are coming for the slaughter and what they want is flesh/tech.
>>27821766ede said that we could only choose one to try diplomisy with. i thing that launching joe at ground commander is him saying that negotiations are over
Rolled 54>>27821790Yeah...might be better to not ask him what he wants and so NOT make an enemy of him. Actually, can we shift our contact to be with GlowyJoe? (although I don't know what we'd ask him either)
>>27821790In truth, we should all be quaking in fear of Glowy Joe the most out of all these things. He's a goddamn Memor.
>>27821812We have glowy things. Hell, we had a hand in the creation of glowy things. He rounds up some bandits we can make em glow again.
Rolled 90SO what you going to do? Awfully seems like its going to end up a game over.
Rolled 30>>27821798Just wanted to maintain good relations with you guys. We also saw a Glowing guy streak across the sky and start fucking up a Monster Commander a few minutes ago, if that's pertinent. (We can't actually ask for assistance without pissing them off, so let's not.)>>27821816He's actually just a normal human (albeit ultra-tough and stuff, and with symbionts and shit) not a Memor.>>27821843Well. I guess we sacrifice a hero (or two), or we die.
i vote for sacrifice of paladin to get underground asshole
>>27821857He worked along side them though. Them guys be batshit, although here it's self evident.
>>27821877>No contact established
Rolled 52>>27821889You can still sacrifice you just won't really have a say in what happens.
>>27821889its somthing they would do on their own this just makes it a gaurentee that we arent getting them back
>>27821927>>27821903I am for the longevity of this company remnant, however that is achieved.
Rolled 80>>27821903Okay, voting for sacrifice of Arch Paladin. (damn. Our only combat-centric hero)
Rolled 12>>27821956Will we have the chance to sacrifice another hero if necessary?
>>27821999we always have the option we just wait for the best possible time
Rolled 14>>27821999You can burn more then one hero per a turn...but its a game over as the morale damage is so much that the group disbands.
Rolled 52>>27822041That is usually the case anyway.Either way I am going to call it a night. Will stick around for questions/discussion as usual.
>>27822056Are we really just going to have a thread to end a civ?
Rolled 65>>27822074This guy has a point...
>>27822056quick question before you go: did we loose MC Ninja? there was some talk about it but i dont think there was a deffinate answer
Rolled 34>>27822074>>27822083You want the civ to end?
Rolled 19>>27822041Very few of us want a game over so early, on top of this time we've tried doing exactly what we did wrong as Memor. We've had some great rolls. Plenty of resources. And one, single, unintentional move this time? Last time it was a combination of bad tactics. Here we have made every effort not to piss anyone else off where we didn't need to, and contact and scout where we can. The ravager fleet appeared out of nowhere and we didn't even set that off this time. But you are a fair QM, it's just argh it's so frustrating.
>>27822107No. Not like this.
>>27822107dont mind him ede he just lacks faith
Rolled 77>>27822101He is alive.
Rolled 4>>27822107No, we don't. If the Paladin sacrifice will be enough to pull us through this then by all means, let's have another thread...it's just you haven't even revealed all the factions yet so we aren't holding out much hope.>>27822110Yeah...
>>27822129thankyou. this is relavant to my plotting. on a compleatly different note how long is "too long" for the phase shields? this may help out the R&D department
Rolled 75>>27822110This time it was series of poor decisions from the very first thread. That is what is killing you. Even the good rolls are having nasty effect as they may not be used properly Granted bad rolls can even have unattended good consequences(Death Trap comes to mind). >>27822140Meta-wise paladin sacrifice will kill a Monster Commander(decoy for In Chief) AND the actual Monster in Chief...but the surviving commanders will go berserk and lets not go into the vultures that are waiting. >>27822171Unknown as length of use and number of uses decreases the time till its Too Long.
Rolled 74>>27822171I'd assume it's not set, just a probability that approaches one as t goes to infinity.MK Ninja, however, can use them for as long as he wants I think.
Rolled 98>>27822193Granted the monsters main base will be destroyed in the process.
Rolled 8>>27822211If we are forced to sacrifice heroes in consecutive turns will we disband?
Rolled 61>>27822223Possible but you'll be risking disbanding throughout. Losing heroes left and right is TERRIBLE for morale after all.
Rolled 70>>27822242Mmm. Well I guess it's better to take the chance than anything else. What were the horrible decisions in the first thread? I thought we kept it relatively tame until the 2nd?
Rolled 24>>27822242Basically you can do its is going to cause havoc with morale. Plus you have to remember heroic sacrafice ONLY insures the success of an action. Winning all the battles in a war doesn't man you win it.>>27822266It started since the VERY beginning with your Civ choice. I had to think about how it might work came up with a few options...that never caught on. Its felt like every turn you doing something.Suffice to say I was thoroughly convinced by you bastards are either the biggest masochists any quest has ever seen or wanted to play hard difficulty approaching NIGHTMARE mode(my versions of all things). I wish I was kidding.
Rolled 92>>27822332This includes civs by the way.
Rolled 54>>27822332Yeah...I know. But the alternative (so far as I can see) is the Civ. ending. You would've advised the Survivalist faction, huh?
Rolled 40>>27822332The addition of mutants was a poor oversight. So much for "it will be a cakewalk for the vets", "no bandits". Ravagers this early, targeting our type of civ, we never even knew they existed for 10 chapters as Memor. . ., let alone fought them.I like this particular civ, it was a novel idea. But ill fitting of the situation.
Rolled 48>>27822375I concur. I also really wish we hadn't chosen to be mutants/humans. One or the other, but not both. I also think that Aduro Industries is a bit cheesy/wide reaching...but it's been handled well.
Rolled 52>>27822375Only way bandits could show up was if crit fails happened or a 2 was rolled. Crit fails happened twice and it should of been easy for a veterans but like I said you guys made some intersting choices. I feel sorry for the new players poor bastards didn't know what hit them.
Rolled 15In any case don't forget to archive.
Rolled 21>>27822450Yeah...there aren't really any new players left I don't think.
Rolled 59>>27822501Next time I will pick up a new alias to lure the poor bastards for a my next civ. Hopefully the next one will be newbie friendly with less pain loving and or hard mode. My civs tend not to be very new player friendly.
>>27822501Not at this hour at least.
>>27822561>Hopefully the next one will be newbie friendly with less pain loving and or hard mode. It just wouldn't be us or you then. . .Your civs are hardly veteran friendly, we had some serious analysis going on here and it turned out to be bunk. But that's what makes them interesting. Also, next time. We'll hold off next time as long as time allows.
Rolled 66>>27822561Your Civ is very empirical/impartial, so by its nature it's pretty harsh. People are used to being babied and having things simplified (especially for civilization threads, quest threads are more varied). The empirical nature of the way you run it aside, there's also the plans-in-plans-in-plans-in-that-mountain-you-for-some-reason-didn't-think-was-hollow thing that you have going on. It's great, like I said but even veteran (as much as any of us can be called such) players with a bit of an idea for world backstory have difficulty figuring that stuff out (shit, we got it wrong right here in this thread). It's way harder for noobies to even begin to untangle the web.We do seem to have masochistic urges to an extent...it's also a bit difficult to 'read' what the correct next step is.
Rolled 80>>27822615>>27822615ah that is because everything has consequences which or may not be immediately obvious. Plus I seem to be able weave a web of interlinking things that even a spider would be impressed with. In any case though yeah empirical I can't claim a logical civ thanks to the whole gigantic monsters, bases, rapid mutations ect. However that does mean I am willing to allow rule of cool if you got the set up/preparations for it first as result.
>>27822615The main difference is with the Memor we were also sadistic on top of being masochistic.
>>27822676On the contrary, it's not the setting that makes your civs incredibly logical (and thusly hard), it's the way you run them. There's always something going on behind the scenes, under the scenes, hell, sometimes above us and well beyond.
Rolled 69>>27822676Yeah, I guess that's mostly it. Everything has consequences. Also, your NPCs are very well developed. Each faction has its own set of likes/dislikes, characteristics, and they're not homogeneous so sometimes splinter-factions or heroes within the faction will do things that are unanticipated...very complex. Then, on top of that they all interact with each other while we interact with them.Oh, also scouting never seems to pay off :/
Rolled 66>>27822726I have complaint in that regard. You never do it right. You either go to far, not enough, or assume you instantly know about everything in your 'scouted' area. For fucks you guys are outright terrible at exploring and wretched at scouting. >>27822690Certainly makes things complicated. Why I do it despite the complexity is because I noticed all the other civs had the players bottled up on their own little private bubbles. Things shouldn't work that way after all you just a part in a much bigger world. It seems I have succeeded in making my players feel that to a degree.
>>27822788The fact that we are even scouting is a remarkable change.
Rolled 54>>27822801Indeed, its slow process. First I have to beat the importance of scouting THEN exploring is going to have to be brought up. Oh BOY is that going to be fun...
>>27822817You have a terrible way with semanticsCan't get ambushed but can get overwhelmed. You scouted but didn't explore.
Rolled 85>>27822788Heh, see this >>27822801Baby steps, EDE. They're happening. We scouted out the tunnels like 6 times, then got them scouted by the double-100. But we still knew there was stuff down there that needed to be found out. We just kind of got shoehorned into defending ourselves down there...Our intention with the paladins was never to drive through all of the tunnels though (or at least, I didn't intend to do that...I just wanted them to hold the basement/our mining facilities)...that just sort of happened by mistake and once it had been begun it couldn't be stopped and we didn't want to lose 7k very valuable troops.
Rolled 39>>27822817So if a new Civ. starts and we Crit 1 on monsters, bandits, zombies, factions, then Crit 100 on resources...how hard would you shit yourself?
Rolled 42>>27822830Just because you know it was coming doesn't mean you can't get overwhelmed.Exploration is basically VERY detailed and focused scouting. Another way to put it is going over something with a fine toothed comb. >>27822837Don't worry remember about how much your getting your asses kicked and what about Memor plus those threats that appeared/hinted at in both civs? Those fuckers survive and even thrive on it. Kinda have to if you want to be a shining beacon of example in a big bad dark post apoc world.
>>27822837Not to mention the lurklassholes who cared so much about the precious balance that they decided not to tell us about it, but to freak the shit out of a simple mining company and then kill their subsequent scouting attempts and opportunities to contact them, attacked us conjointly with our enemies, and call forth a terrified faction down on them to disrupt the precious balance.
Rolled 60>>27822873Mmm, well they might come out okay but we're over here with a shitload of spires setting up an organic wall trapping us in a sea of monsters both on the surface and below us with no apparent way out...
Rolled 90>>27822869I would probably die of laughter from laughing so hard with tears coming down my face. So yeah technically my bowels would be completely voided. >>27822903Yeah that sort of thing can actually happen surprisingly common with the Paladins. I am not joking.
>>27822873A very specific type of foreknowledge I see.I had never even knew of such a distinction between scouting and exploring until this very post.
Rolled 35>>27822934Well now we know. It really explains a lot about why, for instance, Alexis couldn't find tunnel entrances in the swamp when we sent her to "scout".>>27822926Oh yeah? They just kind of attract/cause these situations, huh? Well then I guess they're actually really, REALLY good at their whole "cleansing the world of evil" thing.
Rolled 44>>27822926What does a Crit do in world-generation anyway? Would it result in the complete-failure/success +moderate bonus/penalty that it normally entails?
Rolled 42>>27822955You have to be.. Surviving paladins are quite the badasses. If only because of what they survived. And got help you ever encounter an old paladin.>>27822963Maximum+ is what it translates into. bonuses and penalties are dependent on the roll in general. Which act differently in World Gen compared to usual including roll wise.
>>27822955Can't cleanse the world of evil if there's no mess to clean up first
Rolled 43>>27822986Still, taking Mercs that first time would've made life a lot less difficult in the here and now. By the way, are the Paladin forces actually under our jurisdiction/OUR hero, or are they just (relatively) close allies? Also, what's the deal with Aquam? I feel like there's some super-secret application for him that I haven't been able to deduce.
Rolled 5>>27823030I'm not necessarily asking for what the application is, just want to know if it's there or not.
i gotta say ede its a little upsetting to hear that what we did wrong in the last civ was that we didnt "explore" when you were always telling us that we didnt scout enough. this is the first time i ever heard you say ANYTHING about exploring being 1st of all possible 2nd compleatly different from scouting. and personaly i think that those are entirely backwards: when you explore you cover a wide area and get a general idea/make a rough map and when you scout you turn over every leaf and learn everything. honestly i really enjoy your "no punches pulled" playstyle but you gotta let us know if we arent getting the desired results because we didnt use a keyword that you never told us we needed.all that bitching aside are there any other keywords that we are missing that we should know about?
Rolled 60>>27823030>>27823040Because in light of what you've said about Paladins I might strongly consider sacrificing Aquam over the Arch Paladin.
Rolled 33>>27823030Because you wanted to go the light in darkness route that makes them like you unless its a trick. So yeah their happy to work with you.>>27823030Aquam is interesting as in literally living water and more. >>27823053Not that I can remember at the moment.
Rolled 46>>27823053Is there a difference between "salvage" "scavenge" and "scrounge"?How about "scout" "recon" and "check out">>27823075Is there a way to improve our scouts chances of not getting killed while they're out scouting? We couldn't even look at the Busted Bunker.
>>27823092>busted bunkeri think that that falls under the "bad idea wont work" clause
Rolled 57>>27823111I just wanted to know if there seemed to be increased activity in it from the outside. I didn't want them to go in or anything, but they got wiped out.
>>27823092We literally couldn't even look at the busted bunker.Really wish we had a hero with an I SEE AHEAD ability. The ability to see before they are overwhelmed, not just ambushed.
>>27823118Hell, first time we did it with Tribals. Experts at the arts. Didn't even ask to send them in just check the area, and poof they're gone.
Rolled 26>>27823092Salvage is if you got a focuses target.Scavenge is general.Scrounge is sneaky scavenging.Scout is going over an area to identify threats and noteworthy things.Recon is specialized scouting only available for military units. Increases ability to spot threats and allows you to identify strategic locations much more easily. check out is s mixture of scouting/exploring in specific area.
Rolled 3>>27823131But the Gral went inside the bunker and found stuff. So I don't get how the mechanic works.
Rolled 24>>27823143They caught on after the Gral and humans are much tastier then mutants.
>>27823141Someone ought to make a pastebin of the differentiations and articulations. We are dealing with a very very twisted genie.
>>27823143We'll have to be very specific from now on.First scout the pathway to a place. Then explore the path for hidden dangers. Then scout the outside of a place. Then explore for dangers. Finally we can begin to scout the inside. And then explore for danger.
Rolled 7>>27823168Don't forget sending military units (which none of our standard population are) to recon.Do we have military units as a Corp.? Can we get any?
Rolled 43>>27823168Aw...you guys are finally going to catch on and realize the importance of direct control huh?>>27823155I have been compared to a genie several times now. Am I REALLY that bad?
Rolled 35>>27823190You have none.Possibly. Recon is only available to paramilitary forces(guaranteed), government remnants(maybe), and bandits(with their own version).
>>27823141now i dont mind you being picky about what we say having a different effect (eg.boomcity vs. bombader) that was our mistake. and hey i dont even mind being picky about the little stuff like this (im the same way it pisses people off to no end) but you have to let us know before hand that you take little differences like that to heart and what they mean to you. i dont mind being punished for my own stupidity but i hate being punished for not thinking the exact same thing the exact same way as someone else when i am unaware that it even matters
>>27823192Have you ever heard of the movie wishmaster?
Rolled 86>>27823192You don't exactly transmit these things...Like I said, there's no babying. Most GMs would incorporate exploring, reconning, and searching into "Scouting".
>>27823190We don't have military units but by thunder we have weapons.
Rolled 54>>27823209...Yeah basically this. We had no idea "scouting" and "exploring" were different things until now. It's part of why your plots are so hard to unravel. There's a communications gap.
Rolled 94>>27823206In any case I am going to go to bed.>>27823209>>27823214That is why I don't penalize too much over it. Just gently remind/prod about being more 'detailed'. >>27823211Going to have to look into it.
>>27823232yes but YOU didnt specify WHICH detail you were looking at
