[ Rules: http://pastebin.com/ygvwRe7w ]Your voyage towards Ultramar aboard the Eldar transport 'Isha's Embrace' has, so far, been quite eventful. For starters, you see the xeno (or at least, some of the xeno) in a new light. Having eaten a meal made by one, been the models for the sketching of another, and even offended yet another by accident, you've come to realize something that could as well have you declared a heretic. They are not so different from you, after all. That said, while the servants of the Imperium would have declared you a heretic on the spot just for entertaining that spot, who truly matters would have not; after all, it was the Emperor himself that made this meeting possible, and it is because of the Emperor that you currently travel to the Ultima Segmentum, knowing your current mission to be the rescue of the 「Wrongfully Accused」.You honestly wished you had more information than just that. Ultramar was composed of several planets, so the question was...where to begin?Perhaps because of the extreme conditions you just recently survived (escaping a planet before it suffered the final fate of Exterminatus), summoning your 「Stand」for the first time, getting tossed through the air by an Ork Warboss...stress has taken quite a toll on you, Guardsman, hasn't it? You've slept for nearly a full day within your bunk. Granted, it is difficult to know when a day begins and ends during space travel, but you've definitely slept through most of the trip. After freshening yourself up in the deserted cabin, you toss on your fatigues' pants and slide your black undershirt on. The heart-shaped pendant hangs from your neck (you're not one to ever remove it, considering its incredible use which would no doubt cause a disaster in the wrong hands), and you decide to leave your scarf on top of your bed. You step out of the cabin you were resting within. What do you do? [NM 5]

Additionally, this skill only works on inanimate objects, and not biological constructs.Targeting: Firestarter's belt has two eye-like structures, which fire a "targeting laser"-like beacon. For all extents and purposes, anything the "targeting laser" is in contact with counts as if it is in direct contact with Firestarter for the purpose of using "Manhattan Transfer".Flame Manipulation: Firestarter can bend, redirect, move, extinguish, dissipate, ect. any flames within its and its user's line of sight, no contact is necessary.] "I can see it, I can." you respond. Man my rolls suck. Anyway, Firestarter's ability to manipulate "heat" is - if we're talking in the theoretical sense of "heat" - broken beyond all reason. He essentially has the ability to manipulate energy, and not only that, he can do so at a distance. Combine it with our friction's ability to generate heat, or even just Rahman's built-in entropy-defying Psyker abilities, and he essentially gets near-limitless sources of heat to work from. The only real limit on him is if we ever need to suck heat /out/ of something - he'll need another object of similar or greater heat capacity in order to do so without destroying it before finishing his job.But yeah, otherwise speaking, Firestarter is one broken motherfucker.
>>27703956And he could probably get a great deal of heat by reducing a decently sized object to absolute zero. Heck he could take out two enemies at once by reducing one's clothes to absolute zero while making the other one's gain all of that heat.
>>27703956[Of course the Psyker would have the 'theoretically strongest' Stand, all things considered. Still, this is JoJo, the protagonist does not need the 'strongest' Stand, he just needs to be the most creative motherfucker around. I mean Johnny could only shoot his nails in Part 7, but when he got creative with his powers...Also, the "Laser Beacon" has a range of about 6 meters]
>>27703995I mean seriously at least we didn't get something totally lame like zippers... Oh wait.
>>27703986[Addendum: Firestarter cannot affect objects directly in contact with biological constructs. So, for example, where Rahman to attack a fully-decked Joachim...he could manipulate his flak jacket's heat, but not his uniform or undershirt, as those are in direct contact with his skin. So as long as it is touching something biological, it's not usable.]
Semi-related, I noticed that a lot of Dio and Dio-era Black Sabbath songs have good names for Stands.Hunter of the HeartNeon KnightsHeaven and HellDream EvilMob RulesHoly Diver
>>27703995That makes it a little better. And yeah, of course - friction is, after all, nothing but a force and a change of energy. There are plenty of ways to abuse that. It's just a little harder, and therefore more fun.>>27703986As far as I can tell, Firestarter can't store any heat inside himself - he can only transfer it between two objects.>>27704020And that's an interesting limit to impose. I like it.
Rolled 90I noticed we're missing a roll so I'm putting one down for using some friction-power cleaning magic to clear up some of these scorch marks. It would be...rather unfortunate if Macha walked in on this. We've already ticked her off twice...
>>27703995Ah, not so broken then.If it's used too recklessly it'll kill the user as well. Suitable for psyker.
>>27704020Does firestarter count itself as biological. Because if it doesn't then I have a feeling we might get a "this hand of mine glows with an awesome power" moment. Although admittedly that addendum fixes some of the really broken stuff like say stabbing someone with a knife and then using that knife as heat contributes for something else while it is still inside that person.
>>27704039Was referring to simultaneous take down with the clothes thing.
Oh, final note. Is there a limit to the rate of heat-transfer that Firestarter can perform? Or is it an instantaneous process?
>>27704037In an alternate universe where Stands are named after vidya, any Stand belonging to a vampire take their names from the Castlevania franchise.>Rondo of Blood>Symphony of the Night>Aria of Sorrow>Lament of Innocence>Encore of the Night>Harmony of Despair
>>27704062[The reason it cannot work on clothes and the like is because those clothes are in direct contact with the epidermis's cell, which makes it impossible to use its abilities on them. Basically, Firestarter cannot affect objects with a great concentration of "complex cells" (read: animal and plant cells). Prokaryotic organisms, like bacteria, amoeba, and the like, do not affect its use.]
>>27704106So if we wore a real wool scarf (not like that synth-fiber crap that most citizens of the Imperium have to wear) would it be invulnerable to Firestarter?

>>27704573Well, that or they're somehow related. Stands are created from psychic energy after all, right?Clearly Slaanesh is nothing but a massive-power Stand created from the Eldar's hedonism, and the Warp in general is a consequence of some horrible catastrophe involving Stands.
>>27704656No wonder she was drooling. That or the abs
>>27704683She doesn't. We never cut her with the pendant, and Golden Boy claimed that it would kill her, so we're not exactly eager to try.
>>27704700Shit, sorry, I meant Mercuria. I'm bad with names.
>>27704688Stands are a complex variant of the Ripple, sometimes described as a "Ripple ghost." Since the Ripple is the power of life, the Stand is an extension of your lifeforce, effectively a way to project qi in this universe.
This anon just had an odd thought.Daft Punk for a Tau or Necron?
>>27704656Especially the Dark Eldar. They would suck your dick for the mere chance.
>>27704719Ah, thanks. That makes a lot more sense now.>>27704724Also the ONLY acceptable naming convention for Tau Stands is JAM Project songs. Or T.M. Revolution. Or Nana Mizuki.
>>27704688Yes but the method they work in are fundamentally different. Stands users take damage if their Stands are damaged, you can't hurt a Psyker by punching hellfire. My theroey is that Stands drawn upon the user's own psychic energy, while Psykers draw from the Warp.>>27704719It was some wierd Kanji spelling thing thing, take it with a grain of salt, since on screen, the only Hamon user awoke the weakest Stand ever wielding by a Jojo.
>>27704719They aren't, though, but they are related. Mastery of Ripple can grant a Stand, but so can mastery of Spin, and so can the Arrow or the corpse parts, and you can always get a stand "naturally" like (presumably) Shizuka.
Rolled 83>>27704724Tau should be something Japanese. Necrons don't even have a soul or life force to use a stand. Now what would Ork stands be named after?
>>27704737And then knife you in the back afterwards and do horrible, horrible things to your corpse.Actually wait, they'd do all that in the first place anyway. You'd have better luck convincing them to /not/ suck your dick and murder you if you promised to give them a Stand.
>>27704753Every Ork shares a single Stand, and its name is WAAAAGH.
>>27704747*Claimed to, there's never been a single case shown of a Ripple warrior unlocking a Stand, Joseph only awoke his due to his biological grandfather being cut by an Arrow. The whole "Stands are Ripple" is something that's been claimed, but never actually seen.
>>27704758Yea, that's why we ought to just ORA them on sight.
>>27704745>the only Hamon user awoke the weakest Stand ever wielding by a JojoHermit Purple? From what I understand, that was actually an excellent Stand for Joseph, as it was a perfect Ripple conduit and catalyst. There was a lot of theory of what Joseph could've accomplished with it.
>>27704656[I figured repeating Stand names on Skill names would be fine, since the Skill names are usually just descriptions with no real importance.]>>27704670You examine your undershirt. It looks ashen and even ragged. You determine that you're going to have to get a new one and that this one is currently unusable. You stow the Ashen Rags into one of your pants pockets.Deciding to check on Zola, you head towards the Cargo Bay. Once you open the door, you overhear a conversation."...Listen, kid. I like you, and I'd be glad to teach you a thing or two about fighting, but a cramped transport isn't exactly the best place.""...But Yuu'yan, at this rate, I'm only slowing down everyone else!"You see Zola speaking to a male Eldar warrior with short-cropped golden hair, clad in large red, black and white armor, mostly red. He places a hand on her shoulder. "You're underestimating yourself. You can heal them, can you not? Not every role in the battlefield requires combat. You know, I think I'm going to finish this quiz question, and then take a break from studying to draw a Tau Fire Warrior wielding a Stand called ETERNAL BLAZE.
>>27704803Its main power was the clairvoyance thing, though.Which, when you think about it, is kind of an evolution of Joseph's "Your next line is" thing.
>>27704775>Joseph only awoke his due to his biological grandfather being cut by an Arrow. How do you retroactively awaken a Stand like that? That doesn't make sense.
Rolled 32>>27704818Wait and see what happens. Zola's not the type to need babysitting; we don't need to interfere.
Rolled 98>>27704818Eavesdropping is very rude, and they're clearly having a conversation. We should go elsewhere.
>>27704758Since you have a Stand and they don't, all you have to do is beat the shit out of them with an invisible, intangible, powerhouse.>>27704803Hermit Purple's Stats were absolute shit though. CDCADE, Ripple users have never had trouble transferring Hamon through themselves, only through solid object, one could argue that Stands themselves are good conductors. That said, it's got a good synergy, but as a Stand itself, it's pretty goddamn crap.

>>27704825[It does happen. Jotaro's Stand woke up like that as well. DIO in Over Heaven speculates a bit about how Stands and family ties work by observing the D'Arby brothers. His conclusion was essentially "shit if I know".]
>>27704825He didn't. At the end of Phantom Blood, Dio's head jacked Jonathan's body, and spent 100 years at the bottom of the ocean, shortly before Stardust Crusaders, Dio was pierced by the arrow, since 90% of his body was Jonathan's, his decendants awoke Stands.
Rolled 60>>27704818Offer making frictionless shin/kneeguards for Zola so she can slide around the battlefield like us.
>>27704884Give her some Dynamite and Artificer Armour and she's pretty much Fat Man from MGS2.
>>27704881Considering that The World is the father Stand of the Joestars, possessing all Joestar powers, it would further make sense that The World was potentially Jonathan's latent Stand.
>>27704825Well, one could say it's Bizarre Yea, it's weird, but that's how it happened, once Dio got his stand, this apparently activated some sort of reaction in the entire Joestar bloodline for some reason.
>>27704910Last time I checked, Dio's Hermit Purple was said to be Jonathan's Stand, which really doesn't make any since, since that would mean 3 Joestars all had the same Stand, when all the rest had ones that were completely different.
>>27704910Over Heaven confirms that Hermit Purple, which DIO used once in Stardust Crusaders, is actually Jonathan's Stand. AFAIK, Araki was heavily involved in Over Heaven's development.
>>27704910Except it probably isn't Johnathan's Stand because the alternate-universe Diego in SBR had it too.SBR-verse Diego had something different probably because of the corpse part. After all, Gyro developed two different Stands at two different points, one from the corpse part and the other from Spin.
>>27704943Wasn't Outer Haven written by NisiOisiN? Yeah, I'll take everything written there with a grain of salt.I heard that the only Jojo novel worth reading is Purple Haze Feedback. It can't be any worse than that wierdass Jorge Joestar novel.>>27704947It's a fucking alternate universe, everything there runs of different rules.

Cradling her in your arms, you turn your gaze to Criehr, whose eyes are pretty much sparkling by now."Criehr, which way to Lady Macha's room?" you know what must be done."The hallway where your cabin is located, end of the hall."With a nod, you carry the fallen Farseer in bridal style towards her quarters.>Take Macha to her Room>Take Macha to your Room>Try to find medical attention for Macha>Other (Write)[NM3]

Rolled 8>>27706887Ask about her and her crew's objectives. We're going to wind up cutting a swathe through the blood magpies later aren't we? Besides it would be good for the Imperium. Would stop all the relic theft that the magpies perform.
Rolled 44>>27706887HUGS FOR THE HUG GOD
OP, I got a question. As you can see, the diceroller is fucked. d100 unusually favors 90+, or even 100s and d20 unusually favors 1s. People tend to get around that by using dicepools. Are you okay with this, because it's a JoJo quest? Or do you intend to fix it?

Rolled 77Dunno 'bout the rest of you but I want more details on this. If there's any chance of Taldeer not actually being dead, I'm taking it. No body, no burial!
>>27707330This is why you shouldn't let psykers worship Khorne.
Rolled 99'Kay, so, apparently Taldeer may or may not be still alive. The Eldar campaign in DoW is apparently all about saving Taldeer's soulstone. 1d4chan claims that the commonly-accepted "Good Ending" is a combination of both. So there's a chance that Taldeer's soulstone is out there somewhere and she will return as a Wraithseer and royally fuck shit up in the best ways possible.I'm totally suggesting "Track down Taldeer's soulstone and return it to LIIVI" as a Bioware-style subquest. Because I have a horrible weakness for love-conquers-all and touching back-from-the-dead reunions.
>>27703819Sneaking one in while I can.
>>27706930 Without even thinking, you embrace Macha tightly. Despite the fact that you are currently barechested, the hug carried no eros, only pathos. You let her cry on your shoulder a bit. Once she seemed to calm down a bit, you decide to break the hug."Macha, your crew... what is it you hope to accomplish?""...Remember I had a deal with your Emperor?" You nod. "It was in exchange for information. Information on my sister's fate. Everybody in this ship...either served under Taldeer or myself in the past, and have decided to throw it all away for both of us...""You must be grateful" you add, "to have such loyal comrades."She smiles sadly at you, as if saying "you have no idea".>Ask about niece.>Ask about next objective>Ask about shirts>Other (Write)[NM5]
