What is your opinion on Liches, /tg/?Could you be friends with a Lich? Could you love a Lich?
>>27509610>Could you love a Lich?Maybe. If the lich either took good care of herself and embalmed her corpse so she stayed mostly intact, or if she's fully skeleton-mode, I think I could. But the icky half-rotten version of a lich would just be too gross for romance.
Liches ain't shit but bones and crypts.
>>27509610>fully skeleton-modeSkull fuck?
vecna's my bitch.that story about kas? that's not how he lost his eye.let's just say the hand got worn out, too.
>>27509610Depends on the hatemurder level required to be a lich. I just don't think I could hang with a serial killer or whatnot.
>>27509907Cold bony handjobs, anon. But I was thinking more from an aesthetic perspective. A bleached and polished skeleton wearing flowing black robes is basically /fa/'s ideal.
>>27509971>Cold bony handjobs, anon.
>>27509971>Cold bony handjobsFor a second, she forgets she doesn't have lips left and she tries to blow you...
>>27509971>not killing a homeless girl, removing her skeleton, and having your skeletal lich waifu wear the corpseRepeat as necessary when the body starts to deteriorate.
>>27509971What would you even call that? The Stranger?
>>27510133The Even Stranger Than That.
>>27510096actually I would just build her a body of some other material. hell if there is this much magic around then I would just grow a new body with magic and let her live in a living body hust (like a living brain dead boneless humansuit. a fleshmorph that only cares for its host and its hosts desires.puts a new spin on caring for your body dunnit?
>>27510096That's not very considerate of lich's feeling's anon. How do you think it makes her feel if she has to dress up like a living girl to be with you? You should love her for who she is.
>>27510133I believe that's called 'the strangest'.>>27509610>love a LichYes, according to the 'Lich-loved' feat from The Book That Dare Not Be Named\.
>>27510096I smell an adventure seed.• An attractive nubile female dissapears every month or so.• Body remains found are only skeletons or decayed "flesh suits", but always separate.• Some sick bastard is making the suits for his lich girlfriend to wear so he can get his rocks off.
>>27509610Sort of.While the undead aren't automaticly horrible people the lichdom ritual requires doing horrible things so most liches are horrible people.
>>27510096I feel like it would be a lot easier, cleaner, and less undignified for the lich if you just got some sort of fleshlight type of apparatus and attached it to her pelvis for sexytime.
>>27510359>some sort of fleshlight type of apparatus and attached it to her pelvis for sexytime.>less undignified
>>27509610>Could you love a Lich?Yes.
>>27510207You could also have a Lich that's gradually gotten obsessed with the sensation of flesh. "Being surrounded by that warmth, that sensation of being, I find myself missing it." The disappearances would be getting less frequent as the Lich perfects his/her techniques for preserving the suits. "I really don't see what the problem is; 5, maybe 10 more tries and I'll be able to keep the suits alive indefinitely. Then I'll only have to replace them for wear and tear. Given the rate at which humans breed it's totally sustainable harvesting."I also kind of like the idea of fighting the lich, defeating it and rescuing a captive. Someone makes a spot check and attacks the prisoner. Splitting her face open to reveal an animated skeleton with glowing eyes. "Damn it; this was my best one"
>>27510387Well, it's better than climbing inside a bloody freshly murdered body.
>>27510448Some people like to dress up. Could be like wearing latex.
>>27510423Uuuh and the "lich" in that fight is just a dressed up wight minion or some other undead.
Yeah, I think I could. Elemental Evil doesn't bother me too much, and as for the killing... well, I'm sure they had it coming.
>>27510579As for cold handjobs, we could always take a hot bath while we do it.
>>27510603still say grow a fleshling that lives while the lich lives inside it. no detect undead works now on the lich, detect evil would only detect that something evil lurks within the poor barmaid. them soft warm titties.no cold handjobs.... all the moist parts stay moist....

>>27510418That translucent fabric mask she's wearing is kinda giving me the creeps.
>>27511114>ask if we could love a lich>surprised when we talk about sex with lich girlsThere was only one way this thread could go, anon.
>>27511121That's the creepiest thing about the pic to you?
>>27509610Liches are amazing, though often done totally wrong.I could be bros with a lich, though really they would probably think me an amusing acquaintance or distraction from their goals which transcend mortality.
>>27510972So I can only marry one of the princess? Not, say, my vixen commander?
>>27510096You should play Dragon Commander. That's basically what happens with Undead waifu. Pic related, it's what you get to plow with your dragon-dick.
>>27511261Skeleton waifu AND dragon cockPlaying this game
>>27511205It's strongly implied you fuck said commander. The first thing she says to you is how she wants to "ride the dragon".Then it turns out she's a secret lesbian, and her whorishness has been overcompensation.
>>27511199>Liches are amazing, though often done totally wrong. Please elaborate.
>>27511261>>27511300I believe you cant have her as a skeleton, you are forced to turn her back into a body, or into a warforged
>>27511300This game is basically what would happen if /tg/, /v/, and /pol/ all collaborated on a project. It is excellent on a multitude of levels. The RTS element is shit, but you don't actually have to engage in that bullshit as long as your turn-based tactics are sound.
>>27511317> you cant have her as a skeletonWow what a shitty fucking shitpile of a fucking game.
>>27511317To advance her stroy, true. However, you can simply refuse to advance her story.Of all the waifus, she has the largest variety of final forms: hot chick, that same hot chick but a vampire, a warforged hot chick, or a warforged hot chick with the human hot chick's skin sewn onto her.Plus, picking her gets you favor with the skelebros, who are the best faction. She is easily the best waifu.Do not be fooled by the dorfwife's massive tits, she is annoying as shit. Also, she puts away her tits when you finish her storyline, which is annoying as fuck, because her tits were the only reason I married her in the first place. I fed her to the demon for that.
>>27511317Just don't turn her into the other things. When she asks for help turning into something else, ignore her ass. Bam, skeleton wife forever.>>27511426This tactic can also be used to insure dorfwife leaves her tits out.
>>27511426You've won me back again. Just HOW big is my dragon cock
Aw, mister OP lich, you so cool spinning that cone around your finger.
>>27511458Something like this.
>>27511506hes twirling it
>>27511426Ophelia is GOAT undead waifu.

>>27511582Damn, forgot pic.
>>27510418Creepy and kinda cool
>>27511614I find it amusing that she wears more clothing when she's a skeleton than she does when she's got actual fleshy bits to cover.
>>27511614Can anyone have a picture of her in vampire form? I can't find one online at all.
>>27511633The undead are the religious conservative faction, and her storyline has her stray from their ways and beliefs. The change in her attire is symbolic of this. The dwarf and elf wives do the opposite, starting off dressing slutty then becoming more conservative as they become the rulers of their people. Lizardbitch remains Lizardbitch forever, because she's Lizardbitch.
>>27511640I can't find any pictures of her in Frankenstein-form either.
>>27511614I got what I need.
>>27512029>dat lipstick painted on her teethI both lol'd and d'awwwed at the same time.
>>27511633She probably feels ashamed of her body
We were discussing D&D alignment in my party, and how it consists of absolute morality, not logical ethics, and the example of how a Lich cannot be good even if it becomes a lich for a completely benevolent reason. This one girl in our party was like, "I don't see why you couldn't just be a good lich.""Because in D&D morality, the act of creating a phylactery is by definition a heinously evil act.""What about a heinously good act?"
>>27512574Isnt babymurder involved?
>>27509897liches and ghouls.jpg
form a line
>>27509610Certainly, a Lich makes a better friend than a Vampire: able to hang out during the day having fun scaring the fuck out of people as a skellington and not constantly fantasizing about drinking your blood; for these reasons, a Vampire would make a better lover.>Would totally befriend lich.
If I was a wizard in a fantasy realm I wouldn't mind becoming a lich so long as it didn't involve murdering babies or anything like that. I mean the perks are awesome, live forever, can't be killed permanently unless phylactery is destroyed, no need to eat, sleep or poop, insane magical power...About the only cons I can think of are you freak people out because you are after an undead floating skeleton and no sexytimes with the ladies. Of course not having genitalia or hormones you might just not have a sex drive which really might be for the better.
>>27513434You are a powerful wizard. Polymorph self, plow babes. Its a no brainer
>>27513481Hmm this begs the question why don't all liches just permanently polymorph themselves into fleshy bodies and have all the benefits with none of the drawbacks? Or for that matter why can't they just create a spell that keeps their body from rotting away in the first place.
>>27513535The desire to have a fleshy body is a fleshy desire. With no flesh, desires change. And that spell is Gentle Repose
>>27510173The question isn't, "Can it be done;" it's, "Could YOU do it?"
>>27513535Perhaps maintaining the self polymorph requires an amount of concentraion. If you cast a big spell it could break for example. I wrote a story about a lich and she just uses it as a disguise
What if the lich was crazy thinking she was still flesh and bones, er flesh and meat?
>>27513535What do you think the gods are?
Yes and yes, but I'm a sick fuck.
>>27513535Do you age at the rate of the thing you're polymorphed into while polymorphed? I can't recall.
>>27510167>Be a Lich>My partner tells me I should wear a dead girl to quote "look more alive">Stare at him and ask what the fuck that's supposed to mean>He tells me its hard being in a relationship with a dead girl>deal girl>DEAD girl>Not UNDEAD>Scream at him for using the wrong pronoun>Break down and cry because I'm not passingWHY IS THERE SO MUCH TRANSLIVING HATRED?!?!
>>27513565Gentle repose only works on the dead not the undead.>>27513743No idea but I don't think it comes into play since you would be recasting polymorph at least once a day so you could just transform into a young person each time.An even better option would be get a feat that gives you spontaneous metamagic or a metamagic rod then cast a persistent shapchange on yourself once a day. You can now not only look like a fleshy human all day but change into almost anything you want every six seconds.
>>27514209>that pictureWhat are the tits even made of? Lumps of decaying fat?
>>27514209They didn't need breasts.
>>27514267It's a mold built into the dress. It's a dignitary thing, you see. If the fading memories of the liches council are to be trusted, any live ambassador will really appreciate the boobies during his stay in the Necropolis. A little bit of home, that sort of thing.
I hate liches, lemme greentext why.>be lvl 14 sorcerer>party fights an what we think is an undead wizard innadungeon>whoop his ass>looking around for loot>take his robes of protection +1>look in his desk>see a small vial with a single hair in it>take it because it might be useful>figure ill identify it later or some shit>a few days later>sailing down a river onnaboat>sleeping below deck>woken by ghastly screeching>see naked skeleton crawling outta my bag of holding>fug.png>end up having a magic fight with this nigga>one of my scorching rays misses>hits hull>hull starts burning and part of it is blown off above the water line>sheeeeeeeeeiiiiiit>finish off spooky skelington>trying to figure out what the fuck happened>remember vial>roll a knowledge arcana check>DM tells me its the lich's phylactery>my fucking face when>smash it and throw pieces overboard>>everyone laughs at me for taking a phylactery>since it had hair in it and not blood like a usual phylactery I took it like an idiot>party and DM probably wont let me live this downAnd that's why I hate liches.

>>27512574>"What about a heinously good act?"Self-sacrifice is usually said to be the most benevolent and altruistic act a person can do. >>27525332If all else fails, you can subject a Warforged Truenamer (of your creation, of course) to your phylacterization, or at least get him to guard it.
>>27524568>Couldn't a Wish do it?Nope. Wish can't do something that powerful and complex.
>>27525612Is "I wish I was a lich" really such a complex thing?
>>27525612since when? I have seen wishes make dead people gods and fleshlights succubi. WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT!?!? but seriosusly source of your thoughts?
>>27525652Considering it should be, "I wish I WERE a lich," it apparently is.
>>27525689Wish like that and you have a faint recollection of being a lich during your teenage years. You should word it like "I wish to be a lich from now on" to be less fucked.
>>27525689Not if you want to currently be a lich.
>>27525722>>27525729>implying "was" isn't also past-tenseIf you're going to fuck yourself over with a poorly worded wish, you might as well be grammatically correct about it.
In a D20 modern style game, my character was on fairly good terms with his ancestor, a lich. Ezekiel was a wizard from colonial times, and despises what debauchery and filth the world of the living has become, but continues to show dedication to family. Stop talking to my character for a while when he moved in with his girlfriend.
>>27525799No, it should be, 'I to be a lich from now on.'
>>27525652>>27525658• Wish's material components cost 25,000 gp. The ritual for Lichdom costs 120,000 gp. No competent DM is going to allow that.• The only thing in the entry for Wish that would allow it is the one that reads: "You may try to use a wish to produce greater effects than these, but doing so is dangerous. (The wish may pervert your intent into a literal but undesirable fulfillment or only a partial fulfillment, at the GM's discretion.)". So basically, it's a Monkey Paw. You should end up with a Forsaken Lich at best.>but seriosusly source of your thoughts?http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/lichhttp://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/w/wishhttp://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/forsaken-lich-cr-2
>>27525833You forgot to mention the part that actually matters at all in your whole argument:>When a wish duplicates a spell with a material component that costs more than 10,000 gp, you must provide that component (in addition to the 25,000 gp diamond component for this spell). So yeah, while you could lich someone using wish, it isn't any less expensive, but it'll be more convinient, much like those little packets of juice with a straw.
>>27510423In the book "Under The Dome" by Stephen King there is a character who has anger issues and terrible migraines. He ends up killing two girls and throwing their corpses in a closet cold enough to slow down the deterioration.A few days later he returns and sleeps on their cold corpses like a flesh bed, the coldness soothing his migraines so that he can actually sleep.Just saying if you want an insane villain make him have some fascination with corpses or flesh
>>27525891Does the human sacrifice count as a material component? How much does a human sacrifice cost? It might not be that much more convenient at all.
>>27525926It'd be more convinient than preparing the ritual and having the target unwilling to conduct the ritual when you can just wish it while rubbing some dead cock on the target's cheek.
>>27525959and thus I have a new fetish, forced necrofilia turning into undeadnecrophilia
>>27525909He also fucks the corpses
>>27525995Don't forget the cock. Or the chicken, whichever you prefer. Or both. I don't judge you, but I have to warn that using Wish for something like that MIGHT not work as you intended. Wishes have that air to them
>>27526007>Not now ladies, I've got a headache, let's just cuddle.
>>27526029well I was going with human but I suppose chicken COULD be used.... not a good spell component if you ask me
>>27526007and the BBEG fucks the lich who is going all jeepers creepers. If I were DMing I would make it where the party tracks down the guy, he babbles some stuff about "you'll never understand what true love is" then they fight and he diesthen after he's dead the lich wails and comes into view, all rotting and sinewy and all, screeching out her lovers name while reanimating his corpse to help her murder the party.
>>27509610I would love a lich to do me with his phalic-phylactery :3
>>27526087fuck you I say! source please!
>>27526104Eroquis or something like that is the artist's name. Just google eroquis hentai.
>>27526087damn that's a big lich-dick
>>27525891Well the Lichdom ritual is not a spell per se.
>>27526160>eroquis hentaithank you much!
>>27526216>>27526160>>27526087stop marketing your hentai
>>27526204Well that's not strictly speaking relevant, as I said before, it's more convinient to wish someone to be a lich than to try unwilling person to become a lich without the wish. Sure, the 'victim' gets will save and spell resistance but if you're going to spend all that dosh just to lich someone else, you might aswell buy the diamond to lubricate matters.
>>27526250actually it did that on its own because I had it highlighted and on my clipboard, didnt read before I hit submit

Can somebody be mind-controlled into becoming a lich?
>>27526890I don't see why not.that would be one hell of a mind control though
>>27509610Liches ain't shit but hoes and tricks
>>27526890>Can somebody be mind-controlled into becoming a lich?Maybe. It would be a safer bet to manipulate him into doing it, then he'd be "willing" and the process would be smoothed out.
>>27526979>Liches ain't shit but hoes and tricksSay that to my skull, bitch, not online.
>>27527043well what is the exact process of becoming a lich? could you just have a phylactery ready then just rip out the CMd dude's soul and toss it in a dildo or something?
>>275270721) Be a powerful magic-user (lvl 11+)2) Have the Craft Wondrous Item feat.3) Research, buy or steal the knowledge for the Lichdom ritual.4) Acquire the phylactery of your choosing (a dildo in this case).5) Buy materials and stuff (120,000 gp in costs)6) ???7) Lichdom
>>27527072>>27527043>>27526964>>27526890Not really. The journey to become a lich is different for each soul, the mind controller wouldn't know how to do it and wouldn't be able to control the spirit. Also, it takes years to learn the ritual and the ritual is unique for each soul. One really must be willing to journey that path or be Wished as a lich. Most rules state that the person must be willing.
Can one be (temporarily) polymorphed into a lich?
>>27509610>Could you be friends with a Lich? Sure>Could you love a Lich? She would have to have one hell of a personality.
>>27527274Didn't I read somewhere Paladins can be Liches?
>>27527471no way, ritual of lichdom is definitely forbidden magic
Alright, so I have two ideas for a lich:First one is your standard lich. He's sitting in a dungeon doing lich things and is basically what happens when Farnsworth gets access to /tg/. The party comes, kills him, and retrieves his phylactery to a local lord or something. But it turns out, the Lich is "good," and was tasked long ago with keeping a magical mcguffith safe. But instead of giving it off to an apprentice or something, he just said "Screw it, I'm going to guard it myself," and became a lich.Second one is a Pirate Lich:He's a Pirate captain who wanted to be the Immortal King of Pirates. So he found a mage and, working together, they ascended him to Lichdom. He now goes around the seas, looting and killing and raising dead to add to his armada of ships. His phylactery is his ship, which is a mass of bones held together in the shape of a ship, or something.Pirate themed Lich. That's the bottom line
>>27527686>Pirate themed LichFund it.
>>27527686>Pirate themed lichcan I please play in that campaign?
>>27527735>>27527758By all means. I hope to hear stories in the near future
>>27527780Actually I'm DMing a pathfinder campaign in which the players will soon be tasked with breaking up a slave trading ring in Korvosa.I wanted to have the traders stuffing these slaves into boats and sending them to an unknown place but I wanted a more serious plot behind it than just sending the slaves to market.I think these slavers will be selling slaves to a pirate lich.
>>27527780Whoops, I thought people were asking if they could use that in a campaign.HA HA HA I need sleep now.>>27527857As I said: Stories will be more than enough in return.
>>27527913It'll be a few months, we have to finish a campaign that we're on now but once the campaign is done I will make a new lich thread and share my story.
>>27527457>She would have to have one hell of a personality.>>27510972>>27511544>>27511614>>27512029?
What I want to know is, what asshole decided that Liches are default some variety of evil? The oldest lich myth basically went as follows: >do magic>be really good at magic>decide death is for the gays>put soul in thing>???>lich What kind of shoddy ass wizards need to sacrifice people to tear their mortal soul from their body and put it in a buttplug or something?
>>27528065Koschei was sort of an asshole, wasn't he?
>>27528065I imagine its just the skeletal visage and being forced into dungeon or cave for so long, shunned by humanity, on top of the badass magic ability that makes them lean towards evil
>>27528111>>27528135My point is, statistically there would have to be good liches. I mean, they would have to understand that they can't go out in public looking like they do, but they shouldn't have expected that anyway. The masses just aren't going to accept what is essentially an uberwizard capable of telling death to fuck right the hell off in the form of a spooky skeleton.
>>27509610I like lichs, if only for the really, really good BBEG material. If anyone remembers, Vecna was I believe a lich ascending to demi-godhood and was betrayed at the last minute. So there's that. But being friends with one or being in love with one would be kind of a weird relationship. Think about it, you're pretty much a skeleton and have no tongue so you wouldn't be able to enjoy your favorite foods anymore. They'd just be watching you eat something all the time, staring at you and taking pleasure from it.>TFW no more cheesecake, chocolate, Cheetos>TFW no more pizza>TFW no more bacon>TFW no more beerAlso, if you have no more nerve endings, you won't be able to touch anything anymore. That means no more rollercoasters, no more cuddling dogs and cats (although, you might wanna avoid dogs anyways since they love to gnaw on bones and shit). There wouldn't even be no more sex for you. How could you feel the love of a woman if you don't have nerve endings, or even the necessary bits for it? it even means no more blowjobs They'd just be there watching you..... >"oh yeah baby, right the- OH GAWD! dammit dave!">"sorry, don't mind me.... just keep going">"dave, look man, I get it... 300 years of sexual repression and you can only get your jollies out of watching me and my girl. BUT C'MON!">"look, its not like anyone's getting hurt... j-just keep going...*fap,fap,fap*">"wait.... how are - why do you - OH GOD.... dude, that is.... that's just.... wrong!">"okay okay, if it makes you feel any better it's not mine anyways.">".... dave... please leave.... please"
Question! Could a cleric or druid become a lich? or is it an strictly arcane thing
>>27528628Invisibility doesnt mask the smell Dave!
>>2752874611+ level caster. Sorcerers, Wizards, Clerics, Druids, BARDS, etc. Some feat in Complete _____ gives you +4 to caster level (can't go above HD), so that means that Assassins, Paladins, Rangers, and all sorts of other fun characters can become liches as well
>>27528746>ClericTotally. Clerics are best necromancers!>DruidProbably DM dependent whether or not the fluff allows for 'death druids' or something similar.
>>27528787but greater invisibility does!
>>27528812So what would be the best phylactery do you think? I'd go with a diamond. So uh do you form from the phylactery or near it? Because if you form near it I'd totally put the diamond on/in my staff. So have any of you actually made yourself a lich? I find the idea of all lichs being evil as ridiculous
>>27528886I'd go with a grain of sand or a normal pebble and leave it on a beach somewhere.
>>27528886darksteel something or another.
>>27528903>pebble erodes from the tide>you dieSo you'd be reforming on that beach. Honestly seems like if your adventuring best idea would be to carry it but keep it discrete.
>>27528910a darksteel ingot locking in a darksteel chest then dropped in an unmarked spot in the middle of the ocean.
>>27528886>So what would be the best phylactery do you think? We've discussed this before and /tg/ came up with something very devious: making another lich (or part of him like his femur or whatever) your phylactery. The result is a pact of two liches (or a ring if more are involved) where a sort of redundancy is established and you have to kill a lich to kill a lich to kill a lich.
>>27528975Have fun reforming and waking up in a chest
>>27528945No it's ideal, you could go surfing to get over having your corporeal form destroyed.
>>27528886I'd probably make it a generic piece of granite or basalt and leave it on the top of a non-volcanic mountain.
>>27529002That means trusting another Lich or Liches for the remainder of your potentially eternal lives. I consider that to be pure foolishness. You have no idea what your relationship will be like in 5000 years.
>>27529002We were just arguing about that in this thread. Can you point to a rule anywhere that says whether or not a phylactery that was destroyed remains your phylactery when it's reformed? Neither of us could, so it would basically be GM discretion, which could go badly.
>>27529061If it's just two then it's a M.A.D. situation. It could probably work out.
>>27529002But what if the first lich in the chain of liches dies. Since the first lich had to use a non-lich phylactery does that mean the other liches will perish as well? ( I mean phylactery destruction) and so if the first lich dies without phylactery destruction does that mean the other liches in the chain will die because their phylactery was destroyed. I AM SO CONFUSED
>>27529061>>27529002Question: It was my understanding that destroying the phylactery of a lich auto-killed the lich, is this not true?
>>27529121It is not, at least in D&D and its derivatives. It just means that the lich is mortal until he/she/it makes a new one. Though some traditions allow time to catch up to a lich when their phylactery is destroyed, super-aging, and therefore killing, said lich.
>>27529062>Can you point to a rule anywhere that says whether or not a phylactery that was destroyed remains your phylactery when it's reformed?I'm pretty sure you have to remake the phylactery.• Adventurers kill Lich A. Lich A's right femur was Lich B's phylactery and it has been destroyed.• Contingency spell alerts Lich B, whose left pinky bone is Lich A's phylactery.• Lich B takes precautions expecting the adventurers to show up at any moment, maybe even fleeing for he is just bidding for time.• 1d10 days later Lich A reforms next to Lich B.• Lich A and Lich B team up to annihilate the adventurers.• Lich B recreates his phylactery.
>>27529062I would say no, if the phylactery ever stopped working I would assume that the soul is lost.
>>27529170Eternal life sure is fucking expensive.Your gonna be using 125k and 4.5k exp everytime you die if thats the case. I'll just go with the darksteel ingot then thrown to the bottom of the sea.
>>275291191. The chain is a circle. There is no first.2. Phylactery destruction does not instantly kill liches. It just keeps them from respawning. If they make/choose a new phylactery before you kill them the old-fashioned way, they'll be just fine.
>>27529121Nope. That just makes the Lich 'killable'.
>>27529217You shouldn't be dying that often.
>a death-defying magical skeleton thing being my friendThat'd be pretty cool. Liches are bitchin, their concept is awesome.
>>27528628Such superficial reasoning against becoming one with the skellingtons
>>27529121Depends, but usually the phylactery contains the soul / life of the lich. Breaking it just makes that soul return to his body.Or something.
>>27529217Maybe Lich B can charge Lich A for the gp costs? It *was* his fault for letting those meddlesome adventurers destroy him and the phylactery. It could all be previously agreed on when they make the pact.
>>27529251Well in what D&D camapign are you going to manage to get not one but 2 liches
>>27529312also it takes several days for the phylactery to "rebuild" the body of the lich meaning Lich B isn't going anywhere or do anything for 2-12 days.
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/27509610/Okay it's archived upvote it so it doesn't look like you're talking about what lich you'd want to fuck the hardest
>>27514665What idiot keeps his phylactery in his desk
>>27529312>The first Galactic Senate
>>27509610>What is your opinion on Liches, /tg/?I don't know any personally, but avoiding death by chosing unlife is an interesting... unlife-choice.>Could you be friends with a Lich?I don't discriminate based on gender, race, appearance, social status or vital signs.>Could you love a Lich?Same as above don't know any. But i'm a bit of a butt man and i hear skeletons aren't exactly blessed in that regard.
>>27528886Pick a moon.Fly to it. You've got the time.Pick a moon rock as a phylactery.Bury it on said moon.Go do assorted lich things.
>>27530220You missed a step, You also need to get a shitton of moonrocks and enchant them with bullshit so magic detect doesnt home them in on it
>>27530220>>27530358You also forgot "Pray to Vecna that the PCs don't decide to play Spelljammer."
>>27509610do liches posses the ability or capacity to appreciate friendship in the duration of time they have lived? as you age time seems to speed up. for a lich days must seem like seconds
>>27530576Wasn't there a comic about a moon princess who blinked and the guy she loved was gone in what seemed like an instant? I remember seeing it in some shitty thread on /b/
>>27530576>as you age time seems to speed up.it has more to do with experiencing fewer "new things". anything that is routing doesn't exactly require your full attention and your brain goes to cruise control.those bits of unusal buisness or new things will catch your attention and will probably be the only thing worth remembering during the day.the older you get the less things worth remembering happen.so i guess anything out of the unusual (like a close personal relationship) might stick out like a sore thumb in between all the mundane everday stuff in the mind of an immortal.after a while it might even be the only thing left remembering for them.
>>27530757That might be true for like 300 year old but when you have had a hundred great loves and thousand close friends grow old and die even those relationships hold no more spectacle.
>>27530817>but when you have had a hundred great loves and thousand close friendsDude, that's not how you lich. Let me show you how it's done:>be in love with the sweetest girl>lose her to a terrible ailment/accident>compare every other woman i meet to my lost love>realize i will never be happy again>spent the rest of my life trying to bring her back>delve into the dark arts of necromancy>do unspeakable things in the name of research>old age creeping up on me>take precautions to extend my life>cross to unlife>finally find the answer in undeath>bring her back>she is horrified by what i've become and what i've done to her>it destroys me, but i put her back to rest after she begs me to set her free>left alone stuck in undeath, everything i've loved and known is death>people enter my grave to plunder and steal>bitter and angry i kill them>to my surprise i notice how it dulls my pain to inflict it onto others>start making plans to make the rest of the world feel what i'm feeling>at last in my suffering i won't be aloneLosing people leaves scars that won't heal. You can only fall in love so many times.
Well, answering the original question: "Could you be friends with a Lich? Could you love a Lich?"the answer is entirely possible for open minded people. You all seem to assume that "love" equals sex. Love is a mental state that does not necesserily involve/require sex. Thus, there is no rational reason not to be able to love a lich. Of course, a crazy serial killer lich is another case, but there are people who are attracted to that, too, so that does not eliminate my point.
>mfw my 2000 character post doesn't survive submission for some reason.>mfw I briefly rewrite the gist of these thoughts. The Old City is the home of the Necromancers' Guild; the city is prosperous and the guild is not evil. In fact, the guild is dedicated to the greater good by improving the conditions of the living and strongly polices itself.Initiation takes two years, during which initiates perform menial chores for the rest of the order alongside the mindless skeletons they may one day join. During these two years they are carefully educated by the guild about the price of joining, and given plenty of time to meditate upon this.At the end of their initiation, they are tested, and those found worthy are given the opportunity to take the oath and join the guild as a novice. In the oath, they surrender themselves completely to the guild: mind, soul and (particularly) body; for, you see, bones of everyone who has sworn the oath are property of the guild, its dead members contractually obliged to serve the living members of the guild in undeath. Many citizens of the Old City also volunteer their corpses to the guild's crypts in the hopes of serving in death the fine city which served them so well in life, for a great number of jobs are attended to by reanimated skeletons: the constabulary, sentinels, guards, sewer workers, lamplighters, laborers, longshoremen.... Every thankless and odious task is attended to by the bones of the departed.Joining the NG gives you tremendous boons in life, but the price is eternal servitude after death. For this reason, a disgruntled minority of Old City cremate their dead.

>>27509610>Could you love a lich?Yes, but only if it bloomed on the battlefield
>>27528838DMs often forget that death is half of life. The elves of the Golgari imo are the best interpretations of druids ever. Too bad Wizards didn't see it that way.
>>27531050Furthermore, there are no true "gods;" sure, there are soul-eating demons and alien horrors, but nothing a normal human could worship, expect help from or comfortably relate to.... Except, of course, for the human-looking gods of the Old City pantheon.A few dozen human-looking gods & goddesses protect the Old City and their followers, each specializing in one aspect or another like Love, War, Trickery, Crafting, et cetera. Some have diametrically-opposed personalities & agendas, and all of them engage in friendly rivalry and vie for worshippers.Their followers must never learn the truth: each "god" is really just an archlich in disguise, one of the most powerful liches of the Necromancers' Guild, polymorphed into a radiant, lifelike form recognizable to their clergy. They perform "miracles" with their magic, invest powers in the faithful clerics and paladins sworn to them, and generally keep the chaotic darkness of a misanthropic universe from swallowing humanity alive.
>>27529011>not just powderizing yourself and pushing the bone dust through the keyhole then using a spell to reform your bones on the other side>or rather, just having an enchantment on your body that allows your bones to turn to dust and reform itself at will.
>>27529170>>27529002Quick question: When a Lich reforms, are they nude when they do so, or do they have some articles of clothing that stick with them forever? If the latter is true, make the phylacteries be the clothes that are bound to the Lich and not the Lich itself. So long as they don't immolate the entire Lich, or destroy the clothes, they should re-appear on the Lich when it reforms. Right?I still like the idea of making the phylactery a measurement of molten gold, then turning it in to a coin and spending it somewhere. Good fucking luck finding the coin. Or, better yet, giving it to an old Wyrm for their hoard.
>>27531275>Make phylactery a grain of sand>sail out to middle of ocean>drop said grain of sand over the sideIs this possible? I understand you'd regenerate next to the grain of sand, which could be leagues and leagues underwater, but you're undead, right? Just float on up.

First to think of is that not everyone is gonna selflessly work for a common cause and second, give a man power like a skeleton army and there's gonna be more or less a bigger chance of them using them wrong.there's also the whole thing that when not supervised undead kinda go on a bloody rampage and no, you can't have them on supervision without hiring a large scale workforce and even then a single skelly running rampage cause it slipped could be a public danger. And the guild is clearly as good as the russian goverment "sure you'll share everything, just give us full power and accept that only we aren't equal to you" which of course you remove full power with babies and innocent, you know to produce all those lich lords. And other than a few gods disliking undead and the fact that most of the time they are just made dickbags there's not much stopping you since necromancers are like physics in fantasy, never really talked about in anything and never really thought on that much since they just assumed everyone would agree that necromancers would be pretty terrible people.>>27531315except it has to at least be small sized, not minuscule. meaning that it can't be a grain or an grain of sand.
