You stare at Darjeeling. She takes a sip of tea. You cock an eyebrow. She takes another sip of tea. "You want a rematch?" You say cautiously. Her face shows absolutely no sign that this is some sort of joke- the last time Darjeeling had fought, your tank had accounted for killing four of her six tanks. And now she wanted to take you on alone? You are Commander Russells of the M26E1 Pershing Heavy Tank "Black Jack" and this has been a strange day already."Absolutely." She says neutrally, "It's actually more of our team's benefit than anything." She takes another sip of tea- she either takes tiny sips or that cup holds way more tea than it looks like it does. "You see, my team was recently able to make an acquisition. Regretably it wasn't ready for the match earlier this week." She looks at you. "I would like the chance to allow its crew too..." She stops to take a sip and think of a word. "Break in this acquisition before the start of the of tournement.">"What is this acquisition?">Well if she needs something broken...>So, what do we wager this time?>Other.

>An Australian Army Mk 3 Centurion Type K, Army Registration Number 169041, was involved in a small nuclear test at Emu Field in Australia in 1953 as part of Operation Totem 1. Built as number 39/190 at the Royal Ordnance Factory, Barnbow in 1951 it was assigned the British Army number 06 BA 16 and supplied to the Australian Commonwealth Government under Contract 2843 in 1952.It was placed less than 500 yards (460 m) from the 9.1kt blast with its turret facing the epicentre, left with the engine running and a full ammunition load. Examination after detonation found it had been pushed away from the blast point by about 5 feet (1.5 m), pushed slightly left and that its engine had stopped working, only because it had run out of fuel. Antennae were missing, lights and periscopes were heavily sandblasted, the cloth mantlet cover was incinerated, and the armoured side plates had been blown off and carried up to 200 yards (180 m) from the tank. Remarkably, though, the tank could still be driven from the site. Had it been manned, the crew would probably have been killed by the shock wave.169041, subsequently nicknamed The Atomic Tank, was later used in the Vietnam War. In May 1969, during firefight 169041 (call sign 24C) was hit by an Rocket-propelled grenade (RPG). The crew of the turret were all wounded by shrapnel as the RPG entered the lower left side of the fighting compartment, travelled diagonally across the floor and lodged in the rear right corner. Trooper Carter was evacuated while the others remained on duty and the tank remained battleworthy. The Atomic Tank is now located at Robertson Barracks in Palmerston, Northern Territory. Although other tanks were subjected to nuclear tests, 169041 is the only tank known to have withstood atomic tests and subsequently gone on for another 23 years of service, including 15 months on operational deployment in a war zone.

You look at Darjeeling, a small smile on her face. Before you put Black Jack on the line, you've got a question to ask- "So, what is this 'acquisition' you're so proud of?" You say attempting to be dismissive to mask your curiosity. She leans in close to your ear: "A Mark..." She starts slowly, putting emphasis on each word. "...One..." She seems to relish each syllible- uncharacteristically emotional for the usually stoic Darjeeling. "...Centurion..." She pulls back again and smiles before sipping her tea.You don't. "How? There were like... a hundred and fifty of them made!" You don't like Centurions- they were too modern, too quick and the 17pdr was practically a silver bullet by the era's standards. They had thinner armor, but they didn't need it- their gun was accurate and deadly at almost any range."It wasn't easy- but every good Senshado captain has their sources..." She says smiling. "And suffice to say, I've been working with this source for quite some time- in fact you and the tank have something in common!""What's that?" You say, brain still twisting around the idea of taking on the legendary Centurion."You both come America!">"Well, I've always enjoyed a challenge. You're on.">"Don't you have your own tanks and crew to experiment on?">"So, what's the wager this battle?">Other.

"Give him a call and tell him to get his ass down here." You're going to be going toe-to-toe with a goddamned Centurion and your loader is unrested and not even here. "Darjeeling wants a match...""Yeah, with a Centurion." She says, pulling out the dipstick to check the oil level. "We're a few quarts low- want me to top it off?""Wait how did-?" You say, mouth making many superfluous movements."Anzu texted me last night. Said you'd already agreed." She shrugs. "Should be fun. Seven'o'clock." She asks as you slide down off the side of Black Jack."Was I the only one not informed ahead of time?" You growl. You make a mental note to get back at Anzu."Sorry..." Miho says. >>27118131Once they added the 17pdr, they got rid of the hull gun and the radio operator's station in order to put ammo there. They moved the radio into the turret and the loader became the radio operator. Also, it was 60mm of armour at 24 degree slope.
>>27118107Welp, WoT already fucked up. The AC 4 below with the 17pdr wasn't to have the donggun mantlet in the hull. Jus thicker, sloped armour.Fuck.

You look over at Rose. "Call Roy, tell him to get some rest- I'm sure Akebi wouldn't want him exhausting himself on her accord." You say, annoyed. Richard turns from the tracks. "Wait... What about Akebi?" You smile to yourself. Roy knows not to be late- it's his own fault, really. It'll be all over the school by the time class starts.Having an untested loader in your tank for a fight like this isn't terribly appealing- but it is Miho, so you can at least trust her not to be completely incompetant. "You ever loaded before?" You ask Miho. She nods happily. "I was loader on our PzIV during the first match..." She looks up and shrugs. "Well until I took over as commander... You need me to load?" You stop- you had been planning on speaking with Anzu about making plans without telling you, but that would be like speaking to a wall but more aggrevating. "Actually..." You turn on your heel. "Miho, come with me- going to show you the loader's station." You take a jogging start to hopping up Black Jack's side, turning you offer a hand to Miho to help her up, but she expertly climbs up without your help."I'm fine!" She says with a small wink. You swallow a bit without thinking. You scale the turret and slip down into the commander's hatch. "The loader's hatch is-" Miho's already found it, though, and slips down into the turret- her skirt fluttering as she passes- Head back in the game! You pull down into the turret."So... ready rack here- this turret is huge!" She exclaims, turning back and forth to look for things. Forty-five minutes later, Black Jack is cruising along the road towards Old Town. The 17pdr gun was deadly effective at distance- its high velocity shells had a travel time of half a second over a thousand yards. So you were going to bring the fight to where they'd lose that advantage- a short range urban fight. You hadn't gotten a chance to meet Nilgiri before the match- but going off what Darjeeling had said she had only recently been made a commander- any one can sit on a hill and take potshots from a quarter mile away, but there's an artform to urban tanking that could only be taught by experience- another card in your favor."Hey Commander!" Patrick calls up over the comms. "Since we're alone in this, want some tunes?""Radio or iPod?" You ask."iPod- patched straight into the radio- I could blast it wideband if you want." You explain. "Well, tanking and surfing." You correct yourself."...In Kuromurumine we used Panzerlied like that..." Miho says, putting things together. "I think I like your music better, though!"Patrick speaks up, leaving the singing to Richard alone. "The Germans had music?" He askes incredulously."Wagner mean anything to you, Dummy?" Rose says, annoyed. "Ride of the Valkyries?" She'd probably be rolling her eyes if they weren't closed- she was putting hersef in the zone. "Beethoven? Mozart." She shakes her head. You stick your head up into the cupola again- Black Jack is travelling along the side of a wide field, close up against the woods for cover and camoflague, but as you look out across the field you see the muzzle flash. "CONTACT RIGHT!" The round is low, digging into the dirty and throwing up a shower of pulverized earth and grass. It's another fifty yards to any kind of cover- a copse of trees on the outskirts of Old Town. You could get into the woods, but you'd have to break over to get into the town eventually- it would slow you down and give them time to get into town first, though.>Push through the ambush- you're in the open!>Stop and fight- we can overpower them now that we know where they are!>Push into the woods on your side.

>>27120917"Drive me closer!"
A hundred and fifty feet to enough cover to get you into Old Town. You do the calculations in your head- the tank isn't stopped yet, but if Richard pushes it he can probably get 15mph on this ground. Means eight seconds in the line of fire- the Centurion's gunner can probably load a shell every four seconds if she's good. If you're fast you've got just enough time... "Push through- Gun it, Richard!" You shout, "Loader! HE!" You pull the commander's override, "Rose, coming on target- aim low!" Even Rose couldn't hit a target at range going this fast- but she can probably hit the ground."What are you-" She starts to stay."Smokescreen!" Miho says, before almost immediately shoving the 90mm HE shell home. "Up!" Rose might not be able to the Centurion right now, but she can at least prevent them from firing back accurately.Rose smiles as she takes control of the turret. "On the way!" You get a good view of the Centurion- you could see right down its barrel if you had your binoculars. Then it disappears behind an enormous cloud of dirty. "GOOD SHOT!" You yell. You see the 17pdr shell arc through the wall of dirt and pass over your rear hull- so close you can practically feel it pass.
