This thread is dedicated to the most happening place in the Imperium: Terra.Hey /tg/-Has anything major that happened in Terra beyond the Horus Heresy?-What is life like in Terra? Does it have a guard regiment or something?-Any non-Horus Heresy BL books set on Terra?
Well there was the Second Siege of Terra, at the end of the Age of Apostasy.A grand alliance of Space Marine chapters and the armies of the Fabricator-General of Mars besieged the Ecclesiarchal Palace of the mad High Lord Goge Vandire, Master of the Administratum and Ecclesiarch. The precursors of the Sisters of Battle, the Brides of the Emperor, and Vandires armies kept them at bay until the Custodes intervened. Apparently the population of Terra is rather fearful of Space Marines due to twin attacks of the Heresy and this second siege.
Rolled 75>>26986559>Apparently the population of Terra is rather fearful of Space Marines due to twin attacks of the Heresy and this second siege.Aren't they fearful of Space Marines in general?I doubt the Horus Heresy of Vandire's Reign of Blood would be public knowladge, either
It's a Hive City with a ton of bureaucratic functions.
>>26986490A population in the hundreds of billions, maybe even trillions. With billions upon billions of pilgrims arriving every year. The structures of Terra are built down into the Upper Mantle and up into Low Orbit.Per square mile, it exceeds even the infamous Kowloon Walled City. The entire planet is covered in ground to space anti orbital weaponry and massive layered void shields, beneath is Kilometer thick armor plating. And above is a network of battlestations so thick you could walk accross the entire world and never need exit.It is a Supreme Fortress world that can withstand Planet Cracking bombarment, the most Holy Place in all the Imperium, and the Center of Bureaucracy.Tldr:Its a giant clusterfuck that puts Coruscant to shame.
he is like 'The FUCK Tyrone? Did I said our Primarchs tomb should look like a FUCKING mosque? I don't think so. Now what?!'
>>26986427>Major events outside of HHBrides of the Emperor were taken inside the throne room. Emerge as Sisters of Battle and kills the Apostate Cardinal: Vandire.>What is life like.Majority of Terrans are Administratum drones and accountants. The rest work in the HQ's of the Imperial offices there (Inquisition, Arbites Hall of Judgement, Adeptus Telepathica.)
>>26986604>Implying something can be both a "reign of blood" and a secret
Rolled 3>>26986896>Implying something can be both a "reign of blood" and a secretIf it happend 4000 years in the past, sure it can.How many ancient kings do you know? And that information wasn't being actively suppressed
>>26986427Terra is still the homeworld of the Imperial Fists, isn't it?Damn fists get all the best fortresses!Unless they are Crimson Fists> Implying New Rynn City
>>26986927>>26986927People forget that technically, the Imperium is a wildy successful human civilization in terms of self-perpetuity.
>>26986427One of those Space Wolf books, Wolfblade was set on Terra.Apparently there are riots the whole time and an awful lot of pilgrims, many of them dieing on Terra.
>>26986993I thought phalanx was their fortress monestary and they recruited from terra
Mr. Frodo asks, "Why don't xenos just invade Terra?" /tg/ responds: "Holy Terra is home to trillions of humans. The hollowed planet's inner surface is paved to provide the additional area needed to house the Imperial bureaucracy, representatives of the founding Space Marine Legions, such exemplary successor Chapters as the Mentors, and the many Imperial palaces. Terra is also home to the Adeptus Custodes, said to be as far above Marines as Marines are above mortal men - and who happen to be the Imperium's intelligence and espionage experts. There are more Imperial guardsmen on Terra than there are bullets in any enemy armoury, and they are the best-trained guardsmen in the Imperium - Americans. Since the Black Ships *all* come to Terra (as ten thousand psykers are offered to the Emperor each day) there are more human psykers on Terra at any given moment than anywhere else in the galaxy. So, enemies could meet a few Sanctioned battle psykers if they were to venture there. The Inquisition is seated on Terra in its four-fold, unbreakable force, as are the Sisters of Silence. Every House of Assassins is represented on Old Earth, as are all of Humanity's greatest super-weapons - for obvious reasons."
Well, the Beheading happened in 546.M32. The Grand Master of Assassins led a coup that killed all the High Lords of Terra, which pissed of the Ultramarines.
>>26987078"Elsewhere in the Sol system, Mars has literally everything - if the Imperium can produce it, Mars has at least one because they keep ALL of the tech that actually works. The system itself has enough space stations, artificial satellites, terra-formed moons and settled asteroids to form a virtual globe of Humanity from Mercury to Pluto - where the navigator Houses are based. Also, there are, at any given time, a LOT of space- and star-ships in-system. More than half are military, and if invaders could somehow defeat or avoid all of them, the Grey Knights on Titan have a Kill switch for the golden throne: If the Emperor dies, the loss of His grace would leave every human in the galaxy susceptible to Warp taint, destroying us all - and taking Chaos with us because, should we fall (even as the Grey Knights' full military might - ships, personnel, and defenses - punish in our wake whatever agency had caused implementation of such a dire plan) the souls which maintain the very existence of the Chaos Powers would disappear at once in what might resemble a galaxy-wide Warp storm. Instantly, every breed of Eldar would find themselves alone against the combined power of a now-starving and united four-fold Warp Entity."
>>26987098"Humanity's sole salvation is that the Emperor is NOT dead - he's only *mostly* dead - but still holding the entire Imperium together for as long as it takes for Humanity to evolve into its Final Form - psykers strong enough to resist the wiles of Chaos from birth. But should xenos press Him in His own home, He'd probably spare a moment of attention to obliterate the entire force with His holy mind bullets."
Occasionally you get lost and find strange things.
>>26987041Anon got it!My apologies for my disgraceful assumption, although i maintain whoever blesses the shells for the Crimson Fist mortar batteries ought to be shot...
What do they eat on Terra?
>>26986427>Does it have a guard regiment or something? It does, the Terran Praefactors.
>>26986993By tradition, all of the original Legions were Terran until they were re-united with their Primarchs, who got to change their legions' home planets as they saw fit.The Imperial Fists recruited from a number of different worlds but never changed their 'official' homeworld. To this day, even though they are fleet-based and recruit from all over the place, and even though Space Marines are not too welcome on Terra, by tradition, the Fists are permitted to retain Terra as their official homeworld in remembrance of their defense of the Imperial Palace.
>>26986993I thought their homeworld was Inwit.
>>26987276It's a piece by John Blanche, who I suspect of dropping a lot of acid before doing 40k artwork. I think he has his own artbook, but good luck finding it.
>>26987289That's just the planet where Dorn settled. By the time the Emperor found him, Dorn was already in charge of a multi-planetary kingdom. The Fists recruit from Inwit like they recruit from a number of different worlds. (I'm sure they have a soft spot for Inwit, though) Terra is still the Legion and Chapter's home world on record.
The chatedral towers on Ophelia VII are mentioned to be 4000 miles tall, second only in lenght to the soaring spires of Terra. Also, Chaos needing human to sustain it is a myth believed by dumb Cabal aliens and idiots on TG.The Grey Knight novel states that the power of the Chaos gods do not decay over time, they do not need "sustaining", and every new action like bloodshed, disease, treachery and hedonism makes them even stronger. But if black library is not canon enough for you, consider the orks. Khorne is happy with their bloodshed.
>If you have not already deduced this for yourself, this evidence means that one Orkoid, just a single spore in fact, could theoretically populate a planet given sufficient conditions and time. While we are fully aware of the threat left by Genestealers and Tyranids long after they have been cleansed, little did we suspect the Orkoids posed a similar danger. Spores can quite easily drift onto spaceships and be transported from system to system, and who knows, perhaps somewhere on Mars or Terra itself those spores are replicating as we speak! Funditus Damnator!
>>26987720>4000 miles tallfeetmaybe even meters
>>269864271. The Second Siege of Terra during Vandire' Reign of Blood.2. Shitty and overpopulated, like any other hive, except worse, because you're on one of the largest hives in the IoM and "a square meter of land costs more than palaces on other worlds" Yes, they have regiments.
>>26987804No it was very clearly miles, and the towers of Terra I believe were mentioned ot be so tall they reach space. 4000 meters tall would not reach into space. If you dont believe me, research it.So do the orbital spires or Triolkovsky or Triolwhatnot towers used by the techpriests.
IIRC Terra was pegged at 100 trillion inhabitants at one point. A good number of them are pilgrims who nobody bothers feeding and no one expects to live out the month-not even themselves.
If you are on terra you are either living in unfathomable luxury, doing paper work, or fighting and dying in the queue wars.
No no no, endless paperwork and bureaucracy isn't grimdark enough for 40k Holy Terra. No, we need something more. Endless paperwork carved into flesh of women using rusty knives. Nude pictures of xenos litter the halls and if you get caught even casting a tiny glance at their genitals the auto-turrets mow you down and everyone you ever met before sending your remains to be cast in gold and used as ornamentation. The people are fed live virgins, free of sin, as it is the purest meal deserving of the purest branch of humanity. Also something about murdering billions of psychers every day for some kind of lighthouse but whatever.
>>26988007But uhhh... The Earth's diameter itself is 7,901 miles total.
>>26990203Beurocracy lines to get the paperwork done.
>>26990203Pilgrams in the lines waiting to pray outside the holy palace occasionally divide into factions and fight wars to get there before they starve to death.
>>26990203Basically picture the DMV...with a line that's nearly a year long. Someone cuts infront of you. You aren't going to jab a fountain pen into the back of his skull?
>>26990354Earth is a lot larger in 40k. Lots of shit has been built over the planet itself.
>>26990515I still refuse to be believe that it is 4000 MILES. Can you show me the source, please?
>>26990170Holy Terra is actually a decent place to live, not some Slaaneshi homeworld (which your ideas would actually fit and I believe some have already been implemented). Its god damn earth, and it fucking rocks. >mfw like several apocalypses and golden ages have already taken place. But Earth don't give a shit. Fuck yeah. >>26986427Dose Custodes lol, they look like they are bitching about Fantasy Football or some shit. "Fuck I shouldn't have put all my money on the Terran Juggernauts, stupid Luna's Legionnaires. I could have played better then half those pussies..." which he could but he's busy being Custodes.
>>26990544>mfw humanity has physically made planets like 10 times as big during the Dark Age and their general colonization needs. What if the towers were originally like Space Elevators or gargantuan docks and fotresses? Feels good being human.
>>26990598Earth rocks if you're a noble, or directly associated with a noble family. For everyone else, it fucking sucks. You know how the lower half of any hive is just the sunless techno wild west with gangs and mutants and shit? Most of Terra is like that, but worse because its bigger and older.
>>26990678Well, it provides good target practice for the Merikan PDF.Finally, America is being useful to Terra.
>>26990678>sunless techno wild west with gangs and mutants and shitThat's just the underhives.ie everything that is ground level todaythatsthejoke.jpg
>>26990678And even below that in the Webway, I bet the Custodes and whoever is on hand have to still fight off the daemons and warp horrors still to keep their skills sharp.
>>26990709"Merica was a pre-Imperial nation-state on Earth during the Age of Strife. It contained vast areas of radioactive wastelands. Merica was one of the nations defeated and conquered by the Imperium's forces during the Unification Wars. >>26990772The Emperor is plugging the hole with his ass. Thats why its so important that the Golden Throne doesn't fail, because his powerful psychic buttocks are the only thing keeping a million billion daemons from popping up and murdering the whole planet.

>>26990805>>26990852>>26990868You'd be hard pressed to be an atheist or heretic on Terra. I mean what are you gonna say. "The Emperor doesn't exist?"Any given priest can laugh at you and say "Doesn't exist? Nigga I live down the street from the guy!"
So When was the last time a Xeno ever set foot on Terra?

It has the centers of Imperial institutions. What goes on there? Scheming politics, bureaucratic stupidity, all manner of treachery. It's a really rotten, messed up, corrupt sort of place, if it wasn't the Imperium would probably be in better shape. It's the center of the Imperium, although it is not featured much in stories, since most things in the stories happen on worlds that have current wars going on.
