Mission archives:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Ghost%20QuestQuest 16 and 19 under 'Space Waifu Quest'Current Mission Time: +00:02:21:54You are Delta Phoenix. You were once a ghost operative of the Terran Dominion, but you acquired your freedom and went rogue in the fringes of the Koprulu sector. You've been able to band together a small fleet and army from the rebels and refugees that lived here. Now the fringes burn. A Broodmother has unified the feral Zerg broods and crushes all resistance for some darker purpose. You are attempting to rescue your protoss friend and mentor, Kassix, from the planet New Ares. While marines and tanks pound the zerg on the ground, you hunt a more insidious threat on your flagship, the Daluke.
Let's get the doorknob chewing out of the way early. I vote we ask Saul and our Zerg Advisor if they'd like to volunteer for iNfestation to awaken their latent psychic powers.
>"No. Split up our ghost detail and hunt changelings. We need to secure the Daluke more than anything.">"Aye, sir."You walk the halls of your ship, weapon in hand. You scan the minds of your crew in futility, hoping it will give you some insight. >"Everyone on Murric... dead, just like that.">"Not sure what we're doing. No way we can take on the entire swarm.">"Damn fuel lines in bay 4 are on the fritz again. That shit's going to kill our combat repair times if I can't get the crew chief to requisition some minerals to repair it.">"Wonder how Mescal's holding up. Hope my parents are okay...">"But you can't target switch fast enough between confirmed hits because of the rotors. Augh, no wonder the Dominion doesn't use Goliaths any more.">"Total slut. She thinks he doesn't know, but I'm going to tell him. I'm going to walk and tell him "Kyle, about your wife and her amount of consumed penises."Although you're concerned about the mental health of your crew, nothing stands out as Changeling material. You sit in the Mess Hall. Charlie sits next to you.>"How many you bagged so far, Dee?">"None. You?">"I thought I had one, but turns out Henderson just... legitimately -can't- dance for shit. He tried though.">"Any ideas?">"Of course. I'd be a useless ghost if I couldn't outperform an enemy intelligence agent.">"So let's hear it.">"Imagine you're a changeling for a moment, Dee. What would you do on this ship?"
>>26537807Sabotage the reactor room?
>>26537807Infest others? Is that a thing Changelings do?
>>26537837>"I don't know what I expected. Of course you would. Okay, imagine you're a changling working for a Brood Mother who wants to kill you and Kassix."
>>26537807take control of the railgun
>>26537854Impersonate people who we know to get close for the kill.
>>26537849>"No they - You DO know what a changeling is, right Dee?"Loading relevant files, Changeling:The changeling, composed of a protoplasmic substance, is capable of shape-shifting into a form resembling a terran. It can shift between specific appearances. It can even send out psionic impressions leading terrans to believe that everything is "all right".It is intelligent, capable of operating computers. It possesses more strength than an unarmored human and can transform part of its body into a deadly bone blade, although its primary purpose does not appear to be combat.
>>26537856>"Now you're thinking like a Changeling. Kassix is so worried about the Zerg on the ground, he couldn't do a thing about a nice big Tungsten rod shooting at him at the speed of light."
Rolled 7>>26537865Blow up the ship?Or kill/kidnap the artifact
>>26537882Let's go defend the railgun controls. Patriot Team and Charlie to patrol the vital areas of the ship: Reactor, Life Support and Bridge
>>26537891>"Sure. A psionically charged artifact that powerful? I'd want that if I was a changeling. Or at least want to make sure you couldn't have it.">>26537864>"Another possibility. Maybe it'll find someone who can get close to you, or who has a lot of power, and completely screw you over at the best possible time."
>>26537882Wait, it accelerates a tungsten round at the SPEED OF LIGHT?Can't we just fire this at Jestos and annihilate the planet surface?
Rolled 8>>26537882So Get the people we scanned, and use them to set up guard points on key componets or people
>>26537941Scan all the hero units not participating and have them guard all vital assets including the artifact
>>26537933Indeed, Commander. It's only 0.9c. FTL speeds are impossible without warp drives. The actual limiting factors are the zerg swarm in orbit over Jestos, the fact that there are more hives in the sector and you would need to guarantee the queen's death. It will no doubt be useful in any assaults on heavy Zerg hive planets, however.
can we scan charlie's mind, see if shes a changeling, because that would be effective
I say we have everyone take stim and administer it in the med labs with security details.
>>26537995You are actively scanning the minds of your psionic operatives and other individuals. She is not.It is extremely unlikely that a changeling would assume the form of one of the only 5 people you can detect.
>>26538014thank goodness for that, have we scanned our experts? sall, the doctor, mac etc?
>>26538004Let me see if I understand you correctly, commander. You wish to issue stim packs to over 5 thousand crew members, causing untold medical problems, addiction, damaging crew morale, impairing combat effectiveness across the field and completely destroying your reserve of supplies that you cannot replenish, on the off chance that it can possibly harm or kill less than 12 alien life forms that are posing as your crew. I can't let you do that, Commander.
>>26538029Even if you did you would not know if they are changelings.Blood testing will be underway shortly on mission critical personnel. This will take at least 30 minutes before results can be verified.I suggest a more pro-active approach, Commander.
Lets ask the docHey doc did you find any sort of chemical or stimuli that reacts strongly to the previous changeling samples we captured a while back?
Commander, mission time is critical and I am detecting no new suggestions. If discussion does not properly develop and you do not take a course of action it will impair your combat effectiveness drastically. Ghosts will be deployed to the following targets. You are merely selecting where you go, personally.>1 Research Labs (Artifact)>2 Main Engineering. (Reactor)>3 Bridge.>4 Weapons Control. (Rail Gun.)
>>26538072>"They respond to electrical currents, Commandah, but I fear zhat information is useless to you in the field as the wattage required is practically lethal."
Everyone, be reasonable. We cannot test every single person aboard this ship but we know that they cannot possibly kill anyone without significant resistance. Let's focus on protecting the ground forces/ground team from sabotage up here
>>26538078Have Daluke go on lockdown, tell people to stay in their rooms. We scour the ship tracing any movement. We post teams to hold the 4 rooms mentioned above while we go about securing other locations
>>26538104The ship is at combat stations in hostile territory, commander. Ground forces are already engaged. A lockdown is not a viable option. It would do more damage than the changelings themselves, as they would be aware of the change in crew deployments and signal the swarm that we are defenseless.
Current Mission Time: +00:02:51:11Minutes pass on the Bridge. No alerts. No missing persons. That's when the ground team radio's contact.>"Commander, we've got liftoff! Minimal casualties. Returning to the Daluke."Acquired: 6 Zealots4 Stalkers1 Sentries3 Dark Templars (Including Kassix)1 High Templar (Judicator Euree)2 Phoenix Squads (6 total)1 Void Ray squad (3 total)1 Tempest Squad (3 total)1 CarrierKIA:6 Marines1 Medic
>>26538244Is Euree the same one we met on the mothership?
>>26538244well that went well, time for things to go horribly bad with the changeling hunt
Rolled 16>>26538244Not bad...Still feel bad we couldn't get the Kilao tech.Wait, couldn't we have had the Kappa and Kilao based evacuated on their own?
>>26538258She is, Commander.
>>26538274This might get awkward...
>>26538268Without dropships? No.Kilaro is too populous and Kappa had only one Command Center, which remained in operation with the rest of the ground crew until the end.
>>26538244I assume the Judicator would want to have a word with us. Make sure Charlie and Whiskey don't aggravate the situation
>"XO let me know when Protoss Command is aboard their carrier. I imagine that Judicator is going to want a word with me.">"Aye, sir."You close your eyes and bring a hand to your temple. When you open them you're on the streets of Kilaro. You clutch your teddy bear tightly in your arms. The guns keep shooting. They're really big. You hate the noise - it scares you - but they keep saying it keeps you safe. Funny cars with guns on top spit fire on the bad people. You don't know what happened to the bad people. They keep crying. You feel sad for them sometimes, but then sometimes you remember that they ate people. You don't feel sorry for them any more. Two army men walk past. Mommy keeps pulling you forward. You heard there's help here. By the tent with the red cross. They're dumb, though, 'cause that's a plus sign.>"What's the situation down main street?">"Air support's fucked, Sergeant. They can't take out the overpass.">"Shit, we're looking at 17 million infected coming down that boulevard. How many hellfire rounds do we have left?">"Less than 100, sir. We're calling in for more..."Mommy picks you up. You're tired of walking. You've been running all day. >"Are you sure? There's no where else?">"Radio silence from the other camps. I don't think so, Ma'am. We were waiting on evac, but-">"But - but what? Someone is coming for us, right?"The man looks sad. He's old. Gray hair. He's really tired you think. He just shrugs at mommy.Mommy starts to cry. She sits on the curb. She starts to sing to you. You feel better. It's harder to hear the bad men scream but you still smell the burning. You start to hear men yelling closer and closer>"...-over-run, sir. We have to pull back.">"Pull back where, Alenko!? West front's dead! East is the remains of Killaman stadium! Two million 'refugees' in there looking to tear us apart! South was Jakibs, but it got over-run by the Pallbird district horde. North is nothing but wrecked siege tanks and broken defenses."
>>26538519>"Breach! Left side! Get the hellions on that wall, they're climbing it!"They move like the waves you saw at the beach on Murric. They tumble down. The funny cars position around, setting them on fire. They scream and keep walking forward. You're too scared to do anything. You clutch to your mother tightly. She'll save you... she has to.. She's running but they keep coming. Hands start to grab at you, pull you away, you scream and->"Commander?">"Yes. I'm here. Yes, XO?">"The Judicator is hailing us, I'm putting her up on main screen.">"Delta Phoenix. I feel we have much to discuss."
>>26538577Hoo boy, we blew up their mothership, killed a whole lot of their warriors, sabotaged their cleansing operation but saved their asses. I wonder how this will turn out, at least they're not blindly unreasonable like the Tal'darim
>"I am sure by now you realize the consequences of your actions. Not only did you free the Queen to her own machinations, but we are devoid of our planet-cleansing technology. You are fortunate I am so... familiar with Kassix, and understand the importance of working together, for I have not forgotten those who served on my ship.">Awaiting input...
>>26538617If you had provided us information about the threat we were facing, we could have worked together to stop the broodmother from the beginning! Instead, your mothership crew decided to kill me for daring to set foot on the planet you were "quarantining".
>>26538617The feeling is mutual People around here don't take too kindly to aliens kidnapping their comrades without any sort of reason
>>26538617keep your hands off of Charlie and we won't have a problem.
>>26538617"Nor I, Judicator, losing many trusted allies aboard your ship as well. However, now is not the time to argue as Zerg run amok around the sector. We have acquired a Xel'naga artifact which might be able to defeat the Zerg but we will need your guidance on its operation, as well as your effort to stem the tide of the Swarm."
>>26538617I have not forgotten my men that fell during that misunderstanding as well and I would have aided you then if you had told us what was going on but the past is the past we need to work together to end the zerg threat
Rolled 19>>26538617Just an idea, can we have them communicate to the protoss, (the crazy religon people),
>>26538648I second this choice of dialogue
>>26538661yeah, that's still going to be a problem. Read Dark Templar Saga.
>>26538661The Tal'darim are a lost cause. They're hostile to everyone. Absolutely everyone.
>>26538661Tal'darim are as good as a separate faction as is the UED, except that they worship the Xel'naga (their creator-gods) and a psychoactive gas called terrazine, dubbed the "Breath of Creation". They won't hesitate to kill any who oppose their beliefs or attempt to steal their gas
>>26538617If you had not been openly hostile to my forces then that misunderstanding may never have occurred, but as always, your hostility to everyone not protoss would have been your downfall if not for my aid
>>26538617>dat pic"Got your nose"
>>26538642>"We both know it would've gone no differently. You would've felt obligated to attempt to stop us in our mission, or worse, warned your people of the threat we posed to them so that we could not carry out our task. I do not presume you to know the tenets of Dae'Uhl, but do not assume that it is evil in your ignorance. Many must die for the greater good of all. This you are aware of.">"Still, I haven't forgotten my own men Judicator, I lost many trusted allies aboard your ship as well. However, now is not the time to argue as Zerg run amok around the sector. We have acquired a Xel'naga artifact which might be able to defeat the Zerg but we will need your guidance on its operation, as well as your effort to stem the tide of the Swarm.">"So I am told. Kassix is well intentioned, and perhaps a little desperate, and so he trusts that you can house the power contained within. I am less trusting. I know that you've tasted the breath of creation. I know what rage lies in your core. And I know what damage it can cause. I will accept Kassix's request to teach you it's secrets, but only on one condition. You -will- answer for your crimes."
>>26538734Careful now, don't want to taunt them after barely scraping a temporary alliance of sorts
>>26538755What punishment do you speak of then? I will certainly atone for my mistakes, but I will not rest until the zerg are defeated and the people in the sector liberated
>>26538755Lets see if we survive this campaign first before we talk about retribution
>>26538755Tell her if we survive this we will.
Rolled 2>>26538755I will accept whatever punishment or trial you will put me through, however none under my watch will be harmed. This is my request, Judicator.
>>26538776>"For the destruction of the mothership and the deaths of so many Terrans, should you expect anything less than death? I cannot say for certain, as I will not be your judge, but my brethren shall be. Perhaps they will see fit to imprison you for all eternity, or rob you of your powers, or perhaps even they will deem to let you go. But you will answer for your crimes. There will be justice."
>>26538755"You do not think I am answering for them every moment I live?"
>>26538830We'll see if I survive this long enough for this retribution
>>26538830"Ha, you assume we are going live to see this finished?"
>>26538830anyone think we should add in that we did not blow the mothership up that was are local Terror op ghost Whiskey
>>26538830And considering how unlikely it is that we will live to see the end of this, I'm not terribly concerned about that.
>>26538877the 'toss wouldnt care any less, he was under our command, it may well have been our finger on the trigger
well, I suppose if Kassix is going to hang around, he can teach our ghosts how to be more badass.
The communication ends. Kassix stands beside you on your bridge.>"She is right to fear you, Raging Phoenix. But she is wrong to deny you the right to defend your own worlds. The letter of Dae'Uhl is not the same as it's spirit. Come"You follow him down the various halls, before you reach the Xel'Naga artifact. As easily as you move, Kassix opens the black obelisk. It floats into thousands of smaller shards, covered in blue and purple runes that undulate with untold power.>"Open your mind, Raging Phoenix. Accept knowledge in it's truest form. And know it's burden."You step up to the artifact and attempt to reach out to it with your mind.Your world is suddenly filled with action, simplicity. There is no light but there is sound. It fills you in great, sluggish waves. Not heard, but felt, through your countless cells. The cells pulse, separrate, contract according to the rush of blood. This is the basis of your being. The flow in your blood. You feel your heart beat increase. Your breathing is shallower, rapider. Your muscles tighten as the rage flows over you in great bouts of emotion. You are not in control. The rage is.>"Focus, Raging Phoenix! Recall happier memories!"You... have to try...
>>26538877>>26538892Whiskey wouldn't like it if we try to shift the blame to him and would probably resist violently
>>26538905CONTROL THE RAGE
>>26538830If we live long enough to see that day and if we do you can have me then.(We could use this to "offer" up our life, but ask that instead of death we spend our entire life to fighting their enemies)
>>26538905Gotta think back on our fun little R&R trip on murric with barney barbecuing those zerg dogs or Henderson winning that outrageous death race
Rolled 5>>26538905Oh shit, our one weakness....Hammy thoughts?Um....Recall the dinner with Alpha! We tried to kill each other. The time when we gathered our crew!We lost a hand and we killed a good part of them by our command....we got freedom?
>>26538930Think of the zany times we had with our crew Remember the time when Henderson freed those animals in Murric making headlines?
>>26538905Huh, we probably should have spent more time with the crew, huh?
Rolled 19>>26538946....The one planet we just killed 40 million people?
>>26538946them were the days>>26538958it's like the kitty hawk all over again
>>26538930fuck you we can't
>>26538925You... weren't there... You were... planning to kill... and steal.. and murder...>>26538946And they're... all dead now... all dead...
>>26538930Any good memories we have about Charlie?
>>26538973>"FUCK YOU I'M NOT MAD!">"Focus, Raging Phoenix! Conquer yourself!
>>26538930Yes I can.Happiness is a mission accomplished. A purpose in battle. A job well done.
>>26538978so the end boss's weak spot is an archive trawl...yea this ceased being fun
>>26538995Remember the time when we hugged our AdjutantBoy those were the days
>>26538985You... saved her...Even if you did nothing else right...She's free...
>>26539016Well, there's a step in the right direction. I guess
>>26538999How sad is it that you need mission Archives to remember the only times you were happy, Delta?
>>26539016Don't forget about WhiskeyHe still owes you one
Rolled 18>>26538978When you saved Henderson? When you helped Mia out of her, Stem habit?various small things, even through the pain, sacrifice, and burden while you may not have done well on a grand scale, maybe it was the small victories that have brought Delta happiness
>>26539016that's right we freed her remember you need to stay in control for her if not for yourself then for her
>>26539016Remember when we chose the color purple and everyones reaction? Boy those faces
We don't think about it that much, but we have saved a lot of life. A -lot- of life. Millions died, yes. But many lived because of our actions.
>>26539034And for what!? So he could leave you!? So he can question you at every turn! Ungrateful! Thankless! Selfish! Careless! Demanding! Dissatisfied! Faultfinding! Forgetful! Heedless! Self Centered! Ingrate!
>>26539076Go back to Charlie, please.
>>26539076Nah its to make us a better person
Remember that time when we rigged a vulture race and Henderson won completely plastered?
>>26539048Considered... shooting him.. first...Saved Mia... Saved her twice. Stims. Pirates. Henderson. Made her life better. ...Considered killing her first...>>26539057Especially... Henderson...>>26539049Have to... for her... can't lose focus...
>>26539076He's free to find his own path, which was what we wanted for him in the first place.
>>26539097How about that time we looked down our own pants Was expecting a pickle surprise to be honest
remember when we saved that marine/chef during the revolution?we could have killed him but we didn't, and he made us pancakes
Rolled 12>>26539076I agree with you there, he's a prick.but at least Henderson, and Mia still had your back?Especially Henderson, since the beginning on this crazy ride. Even when you yourself were genderless and just a 'ghost'You became human Delta, you made mistakes and grew from them, you can feel pain, and happiness and sympathize with others. You are free
You can't continue your resistance at this rate. Your body begins to break. Your nose is bleeding. You fall to your knees. You could always give in. It would be so much easier to just give in.Let the rage guide you. It's here for a reason.
>>26539119that reason is because Redaeth is retarded
>>26539119Don't give in. The Rage could hurt Charlie and we don't want that.
>>26539119Nah. Let's resist a while longer. For everyone.
>>26539119how about no
>>26539119Gotta remind ourselves the rage is there so we can make a cure for it later. Its there so we can get rid of it permanently
>>26539129yes remember that dream were we hurt charlie we can't let that happen we need to get control
>>26539112Henderson...Always there...True.. friend...You are free...You are no one's slave! Not the Dominion! Not the rage! No masters! You are free!
>>26539119No, you don't get to do that, Delta Phoenix. If you let the rage take you, you will fail. You do not get to fail your crew. These people are your flock, and without you, there will be nobody to defend them from the wolves.
>>26539145Yes we are free especially free to check whats under our pantsRemember when we did?Oh boy that was a surprise
Rolled 11>>26539097But you did not kill them, instead of a bullet you extended a hand to help. The willingness to act to help others and they helped you grow from it. Was it a mistake not to shoot them? Did feel at ease knowing they were at your side?
>>26539145that's right now center yourself and take full control
>>26539119Remember Henderson, Mia, Mac,the doctor, our XO, everyone on board, and even the protoss are counting on us! We can't give in!
You tear your helmet off your head and fling it across the room. Your vision blurs as it comes back. You choke on your own spit as you struggle to breathe.>"Good... Good. >>26539228> smoke out the changling'sShould be easy with Emulate Hivemind. Just order all the changelings to drop the disguise.

She's onboard a Leviathan over a desert planet. The bulk of the swarm swirls around this location, waiting for threats to fight. The Broodmother is prepared beyond all reasoning. You will need to be, as well.
>>26539265In spess, eh? We need to save New Albuquerque ASAP and bring in their space fleet, as well as churn out battlecruisers in our Skorpia base
>>26539265Should we let some of our ghosts touch the artifact as well?

>>26539255And make the most awwardest smile in our lives

Hyperspace jump prepared. Select a destination.>1 Space Platform A-22-OP/Tarento: Zerg are landing on the planet. Remaining ground forces attempting to defend evacuation. ETA to Overrun: 2 hours.>2 New Albuquerque: NAC and PRNA fleets are engaged with the zerg swarm and holding them in orbit. Ground forces are engaged with Zerg that have broken through. ETA to Overrun: 2 hours.>3 Zerg Hive Fleet: The Broodmother is currently nesting on a Leviathan in a hive fleet near the middle of the sector, from which all attacks are being orchestrated.
>>26539387Are you implying anon?
>>26539309>>New Albuquerque:we need us a decent fleet to break through to the leviathan
>>26539378We are a Kerrigan-level psionic now. The Leviathan is a relatively mindless creature compared to most advanced zerg forms. Losing it will be a crippling blow to the broodmother. And we can see it in our mind right now. It's the perfect opportunity.
>>26539404Well, she's -on- the Leviathan, so if we can make it burn up in atmospheric entry, she'll be toast.
>>26539387Hm... how about letting Kassix give them a few lessons and see if that improves anything
>>26539404The trick is to get close enough to control it in the first place, in which a shitton of mutalisks and corruptors won't help at all. Especially with such a pathetically small fleet like ours
>>26539447We have remote viewing and astral projection. We can project ourselves into or onto the Leviathan's brain and take it over right now. Unless Ady vetoes.
You jump to New Albuquerque. The need for a fleet is too strong to resist. >"Multiple contacts! All alert fights engage enemy positions! Valkyries move to engage mutalisks at my coordinates-"There are 8 battlecruiser and around 70 wraiths on sensors. Considering this is what the NAC has after holding out for hours, you're impressed at how busy they've been.>"NAC Command to Daluke. Glad to see a friendly face. Why stop at just the Leviathan? We could go straight for the Queen with a battle of wills.
>>26539464If we could do that then why did Kerrigan have to fight to regain control of the Swarm?
>>26539484Because I think the Leviathan will be easier to control, and won't resist as hard.
>>26539485Because the brood mothers were sentient, Commander. She had to take control of the Leviathans from them. It was easier to prove her strength to earn their allegiance.
>>26539477Have you identified where the primary zerg forces in this sector is concentrated at?
>>26539485Because she didn't have remote viewing and astral projection?
Rolled 2>>26539477Wow, it seem they don't need much help

>>26539477I see we have Advanced Telepathy. How strong do you think that is?

>>26539549As of yet, no.
>>26539539Have us astrally project and locate the main zerg base. I think they'd like some tungsten inserted into various orifices...
>>26539553I mean, advanced telekinesis.
>>26539570While you can astrally project to a location, you are aware that you can't use it for targeting information or to interact with the location in any way, right Commander?
>>26539569then we can send refugees there, because this planet will be lost in less than 2 hours, 2 hours we can't afford to spend twiddling our thumbs here
>>26539553You can pick up small vehicles and propel them.
>>26539549I don't think we CAN evacuate. This is the last major habitable planet in this sub-sector that isn't overrun
>>26539588It's a shame we won't get to see that in action like the Psychic badass we've become...
We could also do the crazy thing and gather the survivors at the space platform/ Tarento so we can taunt the Queen into facing us. At New Albuquerque.
>>26539581We could map out the areas and attempt to locate it on the map. See if we can trace the zerg attack waves

>>26539605She wouldn't, thought. She'd send her swarm to do it and we'd probably die.
>>26539606Or you can scan it with the Daluke's advanced space sensors.Put simply, commander, with Zerg orbital drop patterns it is not possible to use the Railgun effectively without seriously damaging infrastructure or killing the population.
>>26539618So the main Zerg force is in space. Pardon me if I didn't catch that before. Can we shore up with the survivors and launch a counterattack or mindcontrol their leviathan?
>>26539634The Leviathan isn't near New Alb, they have a staging area somewhere else.
>>26539634Your fleet is already providing support, Commander. The question at the moment is whether or not to requisition the NAC's fleet, or leave them to defend the only remaining refugee camp, hopefully long enough for you to kill the queen.

>>265396831 hour, Commander.
>>26539696And it takes an hour to plot a course, right?Fuck...
>>26539552Command I need your fleet. You may be in the clear for now but more and more zerg forces and coming by the hour. Your defenses won't hold against this endless wave of zerg. This won't be the last of them I assure you command. I'm about to make you decide this almost impossible choice. Give me your fleet to destroy the central hive mind in this sector. Without the hive mind the zerg forces would scatter around in disarray, your forces on the ground can mop up the rest of them with almost no resistance. This new wave is coming soon command, the sooner we go out and destroy the queen the sooner we can end this slaughter. This decision will be tough if not almost impossible to give but command I am giving you the option to trust me on this. We must mop up the majority of the zerg forces in this region, bolster defenses and come with me to strike down the queen with the righteous fist of humanity. If not the death of millions would be all for naught. We even have the aid of the protoss in this battle.

Eventually you reach the Coordinates, but you don't see infantry. You see a templar, several stalkers, and a sentry. You can sense Kassix as you come in to land.>"Phoenix. The tide rises."You wait a few moments, not sure what the metaphor means, before you sense them.>"Defensive positions!"Your squad takes aim and waits. Countless Zerglings. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, converge on your location. Hydralisks follow close behind.>"She has sensed the artifact. We shall stand against the darkness.">"Get to the Chopper! Load it up!">"Yuuuh, I got it boss..."The Judicator floats from the ground. Sand rises as well, suspended in the field of psionic energy. Arcs of raw power begin to encircle her, before she unleashes the storm. Zerglings are lifted from their feet and shredded into a fine mist by the power of her mind. Kassix jumps from target to target, taking no more than one swing per zergling. Your team fires wildly into the mass. There's no strategy here. Just numbers against power. And the Protoss have power. >"There are too many. I cannot maintain!">"We have one option remaining. Terrans, keep firing!">"You... cannot be serious, Kassix.">"Our lives are forfeit regardless. I would spend the rest of it as one."The Judicator kneels her head down into Kassix's hand. It might've been a touching moment if not for Henderson's interruption.>"F'ya'll don't mind we're dealin' with a rather serious-"The cigar in his mouth drops to the ground. The cries of the Zerg are all the motivation you need. You grab Mia by the arm and drag her away from Henderson, who's already dead. You know she's in no condition to fly and take the seat yourself.>"Goddamnit, why, fuckin'-... why him."You circle around as you head for the queen's location. You can still sense her. Although the Leviathan and the bulk of it's forces lie dead, she still lives. The archon below continues it's pointless crusade. The numbers do not end against it's unstoppable power.>"Mutalisks inbound! Full speed, Dee!"You feel the shocks as the wurms hit the rear of the banshee. Fuel starts to leak from one of the ruptures. Black smoke trails behind you. Eventually the fire catches and the explosion rockets you from the windshield. You free-fall. Without even thinking you raise your arms instinctively and a psionic field forms. It breaks your fall, but the Banshee isn't so lucky. It collides with the sand at the full force of a crashing aircraft. You double back. You can already tell Mia's dead. Jessie's had both legs broken. Whiskey's in pieces, he went through a propeller. Charlie limps from the wreckage, Patriot squad follows suit. Barney appears from under a sand dune after a few moments and solemnly approaches the wreckage as well.Jessie signals you over, clearly in pain.>"Boss, Listen... I ain't goin' nowhere. An'... And the worst thing is, even if we defeat the broodmother now, her forces have trampled all over this sector, while leaving the Dominion untouched. Yeah, by stopping her here, we're saving the Dominion and effectively leaving the sector crippled, defenseless and ripe for the taking. I bet there's some deep programming in Delta's head that set her on this path. An illusion of free will, a ghost of freedom.

You're fortunate, however. It reveals a hole. The queen's already burrowed into the ground.>"Drop down. We pursue her underground."You enter the tunnel, cool and dark. Your visor switches vision modes and you move forward, where your senses guide you. That's when the queen begins to reach out to you.>"Your time is running out. She's not here, but she's nearby, somewhere. A spine flies out of the wall. White takes it like a champion. He struggles to stay standing for a few moments with the protrusion from his chest, but eventually falls flat on his back.>"Barney, start roasting the eggs, lure her out!"The room is bathed in the beautiful glow of perdition. You hear her scream.>"Coward! Murderer! You fight a losing war out of spite! Not even losing, lost!"She emerges from one of the tunnels at a full sprint. You unlock your psi-blade. It goes straight into her throat. She slumps down, the life slowly fades from her eyes. Her claws grasp feebly at your arms.>"This... means nothing... >>26541260Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what happens to the hivemind/millions of zergs, now that the Broodmother had a sudden case of death? Also, even if we make it off-planet (by chance) and somehow away to a different planet (is there even a ship left?), we will probably be hunted down by Protoss to answer for our "crimes".Like Adjutant said, there will be no happy ending.
>>26541260You know, I just had an idea from your post.We can emulate a hive mind can't we? And since "Mother" is dead, couldn't we....ya know...Make the zerg fly into the sun / jump down a chasm if there is one on the planet.
>>26541272Oh yeah...we kinda promised to stand trail and account for our actions didn't we...I thought we were going to die, so I didn't give a fuck, funny how life throws you a curve ball.At least Charlie, Barney and some of the worlds in this sector survived.
Hate to burst your bubble guys but we still need to get off this rock, not to mention the zerg lifeforms that have limited control such as infestors and the like. Also, take a memento from the broodmother, as proof of what our men sacrificed, and what they accomplished.
Adjutant, your story teller, has actually been dead for a while. She was aboard the Daluke when it burned in atmosphere. The survivors torched the eggs, whatever they might've been, and returned to the crashed Hercules. They were stranded for a few days, but Blue managed to repair the ship to working order. The Tal'darim fleet moved in to clean up the feral Zerg. Verdant worlds were reduced to glass and dust. Eventually New Albuqerque's remaining fleet led by none other than captain James Raven engaged them and found itself, surprisingly, victorious. The Dominion abandoned the region of the fringes. Internal politics following the death of Mengsk don't allow for expansion, be it because of new policies or civil war. There are still rumors of Dark Templar on remote jungle worlds, who are said to greet each other with 'En Taro Phoenix.' There are several monuments, on Murric, New Albuquerque, Kilaro, and eventually the reclaimed Jestos, praising the hero Delta Phoenix and the long list of the crew of the Daluke, who sacrificed everything to end the Zerg threat.Brutus "The Butcher" eventually settled down and married. He has 3 children and runs a butcher shop of Murric.Years later, new Albuquerque was embroiled in a bitter civil war. El Presidente eventually lost, foiled by a mysterious gunman that is whispered of in rumors only as 'Enrique'.But of Delta, and Charlie, and Barney, and Red, and Blue?Well there's this little restaurant on Umoja. Open air. Nice wine. The owner's a little strange, though.Carries a knife, an ascot, an ultralisk tooth, and a cigar everywhere she goes.
>>26541286>BarneyI bet they have the best steaks in the sector
>>26541286Good lord...I love how we've sorta absorbed characteristics from all our super important NPCs...man...So, with the Tal'darim destroyed, does that mean we never had to stand any sort of trial?....and...does that mean Good End?
>>26541286>Level 10 Psionic running a little place down on UmojaOh god that's great. I bet she squeezes the pulp from grapes with her mind.
It's been fun, guys, and I know I promised you a downer ending, but the dice always win.Unfortunately I can't continue this quest. I simply don't have the time that I did when I started it, and I'm going to have less as time goes on.At some point in the distant future I may consider another quest, but I'll have to 'tone it down' a bit for /tg/ I fear. A lot of concepts were too difficult to execute/understand over this medium.
>>26541286Nice, very nice. I honestly never expected a 'good' ending for us, hell I didn't even think we'd survive the final battle.Thank you Adjutant, this has been an excellent Quest and I've loved following and participating in it.
>>26541301Considering we lost most of our characters and will be mentally scarred forever? Yeah, "good" end, I'd say. Atleast we "won".
>>26541301The only protoss who would make you stand trial are dead.
>>26541309So...what was the DC on that broodmother fight? How hard were we meant to die? How mad are you that we somehow, through all this horseshit, managed a good end?

There were a ton of ups and downs, and I'm sorry to hear you'll be leaving, there's obviously something in this quest that kept me coming back all the way to the end.But regardless...I think I can say I had fun...yeah.It was rough, but...I had fun.Space Cowboy, signing out.
>>26541322She was going to kill off everyone except you and Charlie (and maybe someone who rolled lucky.)Charlie was going to be seriously wounded and you would 'choose' to sacrifice yourself to save her after the fight. But no you guys had to get literally -one- good roll and it was the only one that mattered.Literally no other roll for Delta was good, ever.Except the very last one.And honestly I found it absolutely hilarious.
>>26541309Let's take a peak behind the curtain now that everything has been said and done. What were some of the major plot points we missed? What was your most/least favorite moment? Which one of our actions surprised you the most? Thanks for the epilogue by the way, love actually getting closure on a Quest thread.

>>26541336It really couldn't have been any other way, I think. Either our own poor decision making, or poor rolls meant the end of us the WHOLE quest. And then...at the end....the very last one...100.The dice gods are a crazy bitch, Adjy, and they mix up the best stories. I like the lukewarm ending a lot better then the absolute sorrow I was prepared for.Incidentally, what would you say you learned most about running a quest for tg? >>26541385Ah anon, I wish we hadn't sped things up so much during the beginning.Wish we could've taken our time, built up a strong force, and then taken the Daluke after we already had a fleet of Battlecruisers. But then...well, then it would've been a whole different quest, I suppose.
>>26541385Could've probably had time if we didn't go for the battlecruiser, however the quest might had not finished if we did because Adjutant said he doesn't really have time anymore.
>>26541343Stuff you missed:Rigged card game with Brutus at Nohallan, for ownership of super badass viking mercenaries based on top gun but with Norwegian accents. Quanha steals Enrique's kid and you track her down, but he's living a better life and Enrique wants to let it happen.Captain James Raven stealing nuclear weapons at Promeshi.Evil scientist and redhead 'seductress' ghost at Promeshi. She would offer you 'evil' training on superghosts.Mental battle with broodmother, ultimately dominating her and taking control of her swarm, which would've triggered your programming as a dominion operative all along.Technically DP is still a sleeper agent.UED questline by asking Rio questions.Henderson's Mama Questline.Tyrone's Aunt questline.Probably tons of other stuff I don't even remember.
>>26541405I hate to say it, but I feel like the butthurt that we experienced was just bound to happen no matter what.Too many people refused to look up information, and because of the steaks, we got mad at any wrong decision, even ones that were understandable.

>>26541381No she was just a badguy.Although you could've recruited her or joined her organization or hired it or etc. Didn't have to kill her.>>26541357/tg/ can't handle being cheated. They like their rules to be plain and open.I straight up fudged rolls in the beginning for plot, (seriously said 'ehhh close enough' like 80 times) but once I explained the system a little I had established rules to stick to. But yeah, other than that, I already expected the players to be stupid. I also expected more starcraft knowledge. Sorely disappointed in that regard let me tell you. Nearly every time I gave you a unit counter option I had to grit my teeth as some guy would go 'no corruptors counter void rays trust me I'm silver."
Rolled 11>>26541431and the sad part is, we could have saved Jessie since we didn't need the last bit of psy power
>>26541418Damn...Good thing I didn't suggest using our Hivemind emulator power to take over the zerg.
>>26541418I just realized we didn't even get to use half our Super Ghost powers.I'm a little sad now.
>>26541445Man...I didn't even think of that.Dam you Anon - we killed another person who we could have saved. No wonder Delta opened up a Cafe and just disappeared, her nightmares must be intense...
>>26541444...can I just say, I'm okay with a little 'cheating for the plot sake'?...I mean, a little DM fiat is okay...because...well...sometimes, it just got ridiculous. As for the SC knowledge stuff, it wasn't 100% no...but there were at least 2-3 guys that knew stuff. I think Space C did.
>>26541444What about these two?>What was your most/least favorite moment? Which one of our actions surprised you the most? Also, did you always plan on Henderson being such a bad-ass character, so was that completely organic after we didn't kill him?
>>26541429He would've come in with a Dominion fleet and actually fought the Zerg alongside you.Alpha -was- a good guy. He was just misguided.>>26541441'Could've' being a very broad term, yes.It is within the realm of physical possibility. However the broodmother? Kind of had her shit together a little more than you guys.>>26541443Sure. If anyone's played halo I just stole Elizabeth Halsey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNZSeim2nqoJuliette was more of a custom ghost, based loosely on the annoying british female spy stereotype. meets molotov cocktease. There was potential for her to have a seduction battle with Alpha if the game had gone a different way.
>>26541471I have no idea what happened with Henderson. I expected /tg/ to kill him because quest characters I've run previously tend to be more chaotic evil.He was a generic sarge who got some good rolls and ended up being fun. Most favorite moment was probably the vignettes during the battle with Phoenix team's fleet over Murric. My least favorite 'thing' about the quest isn't a moment. I feel like I could've gone into a lot more detail and done a lot more things in some areas, but I just didn't have time.
>>26541479I feel bad about Alpha...but... I dunno, he did try to kill us.The broodmother thing is not...really our fault, I feel. We were both tied up in politics and arguing among ourselves for consensus.Of course the character run by the...what was it, Diamond player? Did pretty good. She did build up a force capable of destroying the Fringe in like a month.
>>26541479What would have happened if we took Koprulu Liberation Front offer back in the beginning?
Rolled 5>>26541479Ah, if only I put in my vote for the tranquilzer
>>26541493Huh, interesting stuff. Thanks again for the Quest, I enjoyed a lot of it (arguing and stupidity aside). Good luck whatever is occupying so much of your time.
>>26541503Honestly because I can say her micro was just like 'whatever' we'll say the broodmother was high masters. Also the map had like 80 bases and no supply cap.The dynamics for the quest being invaded by a genre-savvy zerg are unfair, I'm not going to lie.I originally considered the protoss being the same deal, but that would've gotten out of hand and they would've been able to contain her too well.
>>26541493So you expected us to be an evil dictator then huh?Interesting...what other quests have you run?>Fav momentFor me, either the victory over Murric, or our capture of the Daluke. Not ideal, I know, but I feel like it made the story that much better.>Worst momentUh...well...I honestly DID get depressed as we neared the end. I just...expected nothing but failure the further we got into shit.Low and behold I was proven wrong.I dunno...some might say it made victory sweeter...but when you're starved for it, that happens.
>>26541504They were Dominion spies. They were supposed to be the 'too good to be true' option but you guys didn't like them for some reason. Good instincts I guess?>>26541516College, full time job, -and- part time job building websites.FML.
>>26541528Nothing that went on this long. I did an Overlord quest (per the overlord games) back in, like, 2009. I did a V:TM quest, but that was like 3 threads long.I did one more but for the life of me I cannot remember what the fuck it was. I vaguely remember volcano lairs.
>>26541519Heh, I figured. That was the main problem: We didn't really have that going for us. You basically taught us the mechanics through error and error. When I first got here, I didn't even KNOW there was a base building mechanic that would matter. I just thought we were a fuckin assassin who broke free from evil gov
>>26541544I considered just stealing the setting but people seemed interested in bases, so why not.Originally I had absolutely no plan. My thought process that first thread?>"I'm gonna make me a ghost thread."
>>26541542>OverlordNot too popular a game, but it was fun...I'd have played it.I'm staying subbed to your Twitter, for the record, so...give us an update now and again to let us know you're alive, huh?
>>26541552....and you literally sat down the next day and wrote up...THAT much fucking background and characters?Man I wish I could fucking DM like that.
>>26541544Yeah same here - the Quest took an interesting turn after we finally captured the Daluke.Personally my favorite moment was Henderson winning that death race drunk off his ass, ha.Nearly losing Charlie to the Protoss, the attempted redemption of Alpha and this ending right here were all top moments as well though.
>>26541561Yeah.Dude you have no idea how much background exists that won't see the light of day.I'll be writing background stories for some of the more popular characters, though, probably.
>>26541556>I'm staying subbed to your TwitterYeah same here, if you ever have the time to start up a new thread - chuck out a message.
>>26541552That's pretty hardcore, I feel bad now for missing out on at least 40% of the content...probably a lot more.
>>26541563Another thing, while I'm thinking about it.When you were falling after Alpha stabbed your dumb ass, there was an option to panic. It would've given you psionic shields and you would've safely hit the planet surface.
>>26541576yeah, please do, I enjoyed this
>>26541573If I were you, I'd keep them and recycle them for something else later. You'd be amazed how malleable a story is by changing names and settings around a little.
>>26541552What would have happened if we used that supertech resoc on Delta rather than on Mac?
>>26541576Yeah, twitter guys. I'll ask you what kinda thread you want when I can do one.I liked the ship captain stuff. I might do one based on the federation from FTL.You guys like games you can't win, right?
>>26541579>Panic working...huh...you know, I was thinking of decisions like that WAY too literally.Like, hidden meaning and shit.God reminds me of that fucking Mental fight with the Protoss where we EMPed a Roach*shudder*
>>26541583Yep. Always do.You guys have a few recycled characters. Most of which you killed.

>>26541592>FTLFucking space-pirates with missiles and burst lasers.
>>26541592>You guys like games you can't win, right?Just like this one...?But nah, the difficulty aspect of this Quest was one of the main reasons I stuck around. You become too powerful and sometimes near infallible in other Quests, doesn't do anything for me.BSG quest..?
>>26541591You would've been your own chief engineer and thrown me a goddamn curveball. Also no one abused Mac.No Dakkarauders. No Maurader-HellionsNo cloaked goliaths. All would've been possible if I ever had like 2-3 people go "HEY YEAH ADJUTANT DO THAT."
>>26541601>>26541592FTL? Hm...You know that game really has potential to cause intense rage in numerous poor anons. Would that mean the starting laser is still the best weapon?
>>26541619>Not playing the Kestral with 4 weak lasers.>2156
Rolled 3>>26541617I think the reason why is because we were short of equipment and minerals to think of doing something like that
>>26541617>Cloaked gloiathsOh damn. How about space capable banshees eh?
>>26541592yeah, One thing that could have saved a lot of hassle would have been showing us the rolls, that was what most people were upset about, they want something to blame for their bad luck and if they can't blame the dice they blame the DM.
>>26541626a colleague of mine plays by teleporting his entire crew over and hoping he can kill the enemy crew before they blow his ship up or jump outit is scarily effective
>>26541630Probably. But there were a lot of bases available. I balanced the economy expecting you to have multiple bases but I see that was a mistake.
>>26541617Unfortunately, at that exact time we were trying to go AWAY from micromanaging. It was a shame...it made us miss out on some stuff, despite it speeding up threads by 500%Also about the' bad endings only' thing.I'd like to say that, while the difficulty probably did get me to stay with the quest, I don't really like the idea of 'only ending badly'.I mean, I get it from a writer prospective, but at the same time, we're all here to have fun, right? I don't think 50 threads of brutal ass rape ended with a simple "And then you finally died" is very fun..
>>26541632No never ever.Banshess can't fly in space.Don't listen to space maps with banshees they are wrong blizzard has already said so.>>26541633I don't like showing rolls because like, I roll then I write, right? And you already know you rolled a 100 or a 1. So everything I write is just masturbation. No sense of suspense. It's a weird /tg/ specific thing. I don't have players go "no you're lying" when I DM actual games, but I figure that's because I can smack them.
>>26541637Heh, as I said, I didn't understand that it was a "You should build more bases" type of game....Honestly, it should've been in the tag line "Bases R gud" even though I know you started it on a whim.
>>26541635Super high risk/reward, I can see how it works.
>>26541653And as we all know, Mutalisks fart through space.
>>26541638At that point I didn't really see any way out, but I wanted to surprise everyone in the event of, well, this, I guess.Review actual bad ending for what I meant, kinda. Yeah it's bad, but you end up saving charlie and the ruins of the sector, so it wasn't all for nothing. You were a shitty hero, but you still tried to be a hero when I always gave you the easy way out, goddamnit.
>>26541653I don't mind the not showing rolls thing honest. In fact, it makes me hopeful that you'll be lenient with us when it matters most...or at least for small shit that shouldn't even be possible to fail. That's part of why we started failing so hard, it feels like. Merciless, cold dice gods.
>>26541658it is utterly hilarious watching him cry about his poor crew after he jumped into a meteor shower, and as he is about to tele back to his ship, a meteorite takes out his teleporter
>>26541674Glad to know you do love us a little Adjy>Engage emotion circuits
>>26541657Nah and I didn't make it apparent because I expected it to go that way with people going "WE NEED MOAR BASE ON MURRIC! MOAR LAND! BUY LAND NAO ADJUPHANT!"And then you... just stopped. And I was like "uh." because I expected you guys to play like some bronze kid going 3 cc before rax so I balanced minerals to be all crappy. >>26541676Yeah I always got nervous in long losing streaks because I'd be like "oooh boy, here we go, I wish I was this good at railroading."
>>26541674>you still tried to be a hero when I always gave you the easy way out, goddamnit. What do you mean by that...?We're we meant to slowly devolve into evil and madness due to the Terrazine?
>>26541674Heh, a mediocre hero, I guess. But no one else was looking to be a hero, so it's better then nothing.I guess...that's sorta was 'real life' heroes are like. They don't blow the enemy away, but they did SOMETHING while everyone else sat on their ass.
>>26541683One of the possible endings was it being revealed you're a double agent, you rebel and become a triple agent and kill the swarm, and Adjy tries to kill you because her programming was to make sure you followed your mission.Go through and re-read the suggestions and you'll see how well orchestrated the whole thing was, Muahahah!
>>26541686>And then you... just stopped.I think we stopped because we remembered we were a ghost and not a commander, and went to do ghost shitand then promptly forgot everything
>>26541686Well...I guess one anon should've been taking care of Econ, but...well, honestly I blame politics. The whole Communist thing really just turned to utter shit, on almost ALL of our trips there, and we got distracted.Whiskey yelling "DUMB BITCH YOU FORGOT YOU NEED RESOURCES TO MAKE THOSE SCHEMATICS YOU WANT SO MUCH"I really do feel dumb, though...
>>26541687Basically, yeah. or become some kind of jerkass pirate or something. The 'evil' option (give into rage, steal from the civilians, etc.) always had more rewards because you never chose it.It would've been the other way around if it was the other way. Being a jerkass pirate and choosing to save civilians? Good luck with that.
>>26541700....but...can Adjy even get out of the Daluke? Also, damn it we were a level 10 Psionic with Protoss friends! How did no one catch onto that?!
>>26541707You're only 1/7th as dumb as DP, don't worry.
>>26541700>Adjy tries to kill us.At least she burned with the Daluke.Did Sall do anything to our crazy adjutant while the ship was burning in the atmosphere?
>>26541712...so...back when we met the SUPER Zerg...if we hadn't given into the rage...?
>>26541719You bought her a terminator body without realizing. Why else would it be for sale in a black market that doesn't even make sense.
>>26541727I like to imagine Sall got totally shitfaced and launched a few orbital strikes at the wrong side of the planet on accident, and that's why it took so long.In reality it probably just has something to do with TRAJECTORY!
>>26541729Speaking of terminator bodies and shit...I just realized, we never even got to test out the fucking decked out Daluke! We just warped into orbit and got blown up!God, fucking rolls sometimes, man...we had shields and everything.
>>26541728Kassix be dead and you probably would've fought them every step of the way in the invasion.
>>26541734Adjutant had to make more CALIBRATIONS
>>26541738Totally worth it then.Should have raged more....what would have happened if we raged when we gained super Psionics from that crystal?
>>26541735The upgrades were mostly for the rail gun because you guys never stole the free nuke pile at Promeshi. Even with people going 'hey we need nukes.'
>>26541734Sall dying was crushing.I felt that he was one of the few people who really understood everything we'd gone through - especially when we lost our suit briefly.
>>26541748You would've had a 50% chance to lose your shit and go murdermachine on every single roll. Wouldn't have happened unless you guys really didn't give a shit about the whole 'hey so fight for your life or whatever' thing.
>>26541704>and then promptly forgot everythingThis is /tg/ we have the attention span a of a goldfish. And about the previous thread where I accused you of that speech about the door and bomb, i'm sorry, I guess I was infuriated about the wood league tactics and the bad rolls that we never saw, I came back and follwed the thread as anon though and smacked the morons whenever I saw them pulling shit.Commander Shetberd, Gold league Protoss its been an infuriating pleasure.Ill stay following your twitter.
>>26541729we never got to test out her 'enhanced' body...
>>26541751We wanted to. We also wanted Communist notRussia to be-fucking-have. Shit doesn't go down like you hoped, you know? They probably would've made that entire fight a little easier...still sore about not getting to use Super Ghost powers either though.
>>26541753I think he lived up to expectations.
>>26541756Aw, no EVIL version of our powers?I was hoping for a Psionic impulse to make everyone in 100 miles kill themselves.Zerg included.
>>26541760I honestly don't even remember what you're talking about.>>26541762It was communist notcuba. More specifically nottropicoYeah, I regret all them powers not being used. The campaign was supposed to be much longer. When I designed that list of powers I didn't even have an endgame in mind.
>>26541772Heh, best XO ever.
>>26541787>Yeah, I regret all them powers not being usedyou could write how DP uses them after getting bad scores from food critics reviewing her restaurant on Umoja
>>26541787Did they go higher then 10?You mentioned 50-70 threads I remember, and this is much shorter, so shit must have gotten busy quick.I'd just like to offer this as a suggestion: I love the idea of being really powerful in quests, but it works better if there are other things that fuck us up despite that.Aka: We were a super ghost at psionic level 10, sure, but we couldn't beat a whole army by ourselves.Just a thought for future things.
>>26541811"I'm sorry, did you say it wasn't hard broiled enough?>Pyrokenisis"Noooow it is."
>>26541800Soon, BARNEY QUEST
>>26541813IIRC 10 is as high as the academy recognizes, as they have never had someone go higher (without zerg or protoss interference)
>>26541813In lore, yes, but DP was a 10, she couldn't go higher because you'd be beyond kerrigan and this wasn't that kind of campaign.I could've gone on for 50-70 or more easily, as the original plan was, but yeah. Rather just have it over with so I can move on to stuff I was supposed to have finished in, like, freakin' March.
>>26541851Heh, thinking maybe the everyday (almost) thing killed you?No fucking idea how you did that.
>>26541869Not really. I think it's just that I spent too much time on threads because I'd be like "okay we need to get to point x" and you'd spend ten years too long at point y because "well what if we pump terrazine through the dominion base's air vents instead?" or whatever.
>>26541895>"well what if we pump terrazine through the dominion base's air vents instead?"Was...Was that actually suggested?
>>26541895There was...a lot of that, yes. Some of it good ideas. Others of it...not so much.We did get greedy a lot of the time but, oddly, it was the wrong kind of greed. It's so ironic how that ended up fucking up the flow of the later parts of the quest so much...only to get super lucky at the end.
>>26541918Nah but I wouldn't have so much as blinked at it.
>>26541919Greedy not with bases...but with dem schematics.
>>26541929Also, for the record: That mech division at the end there didn't stand a chance either wayVipers and Broodlords spell the end of Mech. I wish we had gotten Thors...
>>26541936And it didn't mean shit because we controlled like, 5 bases out of 80
>>26541756Speaking of going mental - I loved the dream/nightmare sequences and the pseudo-propehcy.Added some interesting dimensions to Delta and made her more...believable? relatable? More Quests need to do it. It also reminded me a lot of SpecOps - The Line, especially when you used some of the charred images for it.
>>26541946Yep.Ling/bling/muta or roach/hydra/infestor vs bio with no mines was equally screwed.
>>26541954Yeah I completely made the prophecy up in the first sequence. I happened to be listening to Adema at the time. Then I was like "wait I can totally make this work."
>>26541929gas warfare=goodterrazine warfare=not so good
>>26541956That a punishment for the lack of schematics, huh?We really weren't well prepared.
Adjutant, WAS that you in http:images/1376122440742.jpg ?
>>26541979I even had the queen on even tech so it'd be fair. She started out Zerglings and undertook missions on Jestsos and HA002 to gather more strains, eventually leading to the hive tech you fought. You guys would've still been on Arclite siege tanks and firebats if I didn't throw schematics at you later on.
>>26541987Not me. When I post in quest generals or anything relevant to the thread I use this trip.
>>26542000What ended up eating up all our time, anyway? There was like a huge section of time where it felt like we didn't get ANYthing new, schematics, or reinforcments.
>>26542016I... I don't even fucking know. I'll have to go through it again eventually.
>>26542009>>26541987Oooooh, so THAT's what namefag above was talking about. He thought that poster was you making fun of us, I think.
>>26542036I can see why. I relate to that post more than I should.I didn't punish you guys for being overly cautious though. Not mechanically, i just had NPCs call you out on it when I started to get fed up.
>>26542016failingno seriously, we would fuck up something, get a bunch of people killed, and then spend 3 threads cleaning up afterwards, only to be back where we were before we fucked up, only to fuck up again
>>26542073Which is perfectly acceptable. While I do think you enjoyed our frustration a little, I didn't take you for a monster who enjoyed watching us fail.Especially considering how it all ended.Anyway, it's a real shame the high tension of the quest attracted soooo much hate. Glad you played through it though. Other QMs I've known have quit for much less.
>>26542076...yeah...you're probably right.Like I said, the cold harsh decree of the dice was merciless. And as a result, well...we lost everything like, twice.I bet Broodmother never once rolled a nat 1.
>>26542108Part of why I rushed it. I expected a bit of negative response, but mostly I expected player drops more than anything. There was a good deal of negative backlash. Mostly due to misunderstandings but that's sort of the nature of the game.
>>26542129Well there was always going to be negative responses, I guess. I mean, like you said, that's the nature of this type of game. Set up for big failures and all.Unfortunately, >>26542121>>26542076We...well, basically: Being nice doomed us when the Broodmama was just going wild on the sector with her "LOL WHAT ARE POLITICS AND OR MORAL CHOICES RESOURCES!!!!"
>>26542129one thing /tg/ likes in its games is transparency, and if you don't use /tg/ dice to show everyone what what a roll is, anon starts getting paranoid, and the misunderstandings only festered that paranoid until those players became openly antagonistic towards the quest
>>26542171Yep. Which I don't really care about, since I prefer the system of not knowing. It just sucks having to deal with openly hostile people suddenly because they don't like how 1 or 2 rolls went.
>>26542171The only problem with that is tg dice are not any less hateful.I'd prefer to trust a DM and risk being railroaded a little then to sit and watch, with the DM, as we roll >30 over and over and over again with no way to cheat without openly making it obvious. In our favor, that is.Maybe I'm just a nice DM.
>>26542194Your interpretation of the rolls varied widely. Sometimes you were lenient, sometimes you killed people on the whims of a single roll. It didn't seem consistent.
>>26542194Looking back, I just realized the first thread ended with like, us getting our hand crushed and shit.Man...old times.
>>26541519Wait what the hell do you mean no supply cap? You made us build supply depots and shit like, the 4th thread or something
