Mission archives:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Ghost%20QuestResource list (not updated to include last mission's casualties yet):http://pastebin.com/MWbqjUDPTwitter:@GhostAdjutantYou were a ghost operative of the Terran Dominion, under Emperor Arcturus Mengsk. Your Codename is Delta Phoenix. You received a transmission from Korhal. "The Emperor is Dead. Long live the Emperor. "It seems like a lifetime since the fall of Korhal disabled your neural inhibitor and you went rogue. With the help of a rogue Dominion Marine, Jacob Henderson, you and your small crew secured a Gorgon-Class battlecruiser you now call The Daluke. Now with the help of your team you attempt to unite several fringe worlds against a looming Zerg threat before it's too late, though you can expect to be stopped at every turn by the Dominion, bounty hunters, and criminals after the huge bounty on your head. The Dominion battlecruiser Yelon has been torn in half by Zerg forces. You have dispatched three teams to recover schematics from the battlecruiser in order to construct your own. As part of the first team you'll be killing an infestor on the bridge with the help of the Helldogs squad.Adjutant A.I. online. Loading Status report.

>>26275827Oh man, this is gonna be Dorf Fortress FUN.
>>26275934>http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Ghost%20QuestJust saw it myself. Thanks!By the way, really enjoying your work.
The dropship sails over the burning wreckage. Multiple hull breaches dot the upper half of the battlecruiser. Several wraiths zip past and launch missiles at the overlords clamped on to the ship. The explosions give you some solace that, perhaps, the Zerg's numbers will be reduced by the time you land. The Dropship lands on top of the battlecruiser's head and drills it's way through. You and the rest of the Helldog team drop down into one of the hallways. Lightning is sporadic, and you can hear gunfire and screams echo from each direction.>"This is Delta Phoenix. Team one is in position, over.">"Confirmed, Daluke reads you, Commander."Your team moves forward. There's no resistance, but as you approach the bridge you can hear gunfire and the cries of some Zerg. You have time to engage them on your terms as the door opens.Loading available specialty rounds:EMP GrenadeFlash GrenadeHellfire GrenadeIrradiate GrenadeLockdown GrenadeSticky Grenade

>"Squad. Flashbang on my mark, enter and clear. Three... two... one... mark!"You hear the familiar thunk of the grenade being launched and the subsequent bang. Your 5-man team moves in. Unfortunately the Zerg are, for the most part, unaffected by the flashbang and have ripped the remaining Dominion crew members to pieces, or worse. Two Hydralisks near the rear open fire. Elliot it instantly pinned to the wall and his lifesigns immediately drop.Rio moves to his position, as you and the other two squad members attempt cover.>"Don't go towards the light, Elliot!">"I'm ... hurt bad... here guys..."The infestor whips nick with some sort of tentacle at Nicholas. He's unable to dodge, and meets the Zerg parasite with his face. Your team is forced back as he turns to open fire on you.As you round the corner back outside of the door, Elliot's lifesigns read at zero. You hear Nick scream from the room, and his own lifesigns drop. Your squad is reduced to yourself and 2 members.Remaining Specialty Rounds:EMP GrenadeHellfire GrenadeIrradiate GrenadeLockdown GrenadeSticky Grenade

>>26276376Er.. I thought.. Hellfire won?Oh well. Doorknob chewing ahoy! With psionic reflexes, despite the psionic abilities of the infestor, we should be right to feed it an irradiation grenade. They'll all go feral, but we don't have a lot of choice here. Everyone is going to die thanks to the choices we made last thread.
>>26276410Valid votes were even. 1d2 was rolled. 1 represented 2, and 2 represented 3.
>>26276376As far as i know we tried to flashbang zergs before. With the same result. Why are we still doing that kind of shit?Stop trying to save everyone, go in and kill stuff, do your job.Hellfire all the way
>>26276458Irradiate has been proven to off them before. And as we found out last time, removing the brood control massively reduces zerg combat efficiency. We need ot get the hell out of here, and at speed. Those corruptors will be back with more zerg, and the best way to carve through these ones is to send them feral and pretend it's thanksgiving.
>>26276498Er, slight addendum: Probably not the time to experiment, so let's stick with what we know.
>>26276458>"Commandah, you may want to exercise restraint in using explosives. We can learn more for the subject if it is still intact."
>>26276376If we're following game rules, an EMP grenade should drain it of energy and render it effectively harmless.
>>26276627FUCK THE GODDAMN RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES. We just lost some very, very, expensive hero units. Who should have had some kind of bonus, so I'm assuming we rolled incredibly bad. Fucking kill them all.
>>26276643I'm going to refer you to the thread that had us get captured in a psionic battle with some protoss.Just.. no.
>>26276643That is correct, Commander. Additionally it will be low on energy having just used an expensive ability.
>>26276661In the psionic battle you were not actually using physical rounds, commander.More simply, it was all in your head, and by attempting to play the metagame, you lost the game at hand.

>>26276740Yeah I know, I didn't say it would. I meant use EMP on the Infestor and then concentrate traditional rounds on the Hydras. I must have miscommunicated, my mistake.

Your Medivac skips just over the hull of the Battlecruiser. You'll be entering through a breach to get that Egghead Mac some engine... doodads, or something. Barney, Jessie, and 4 nameless grunts are all Delta's robot lady gave you for the mission. The ship lands next to the hole, all organic-like from being melted open by the Zerg. You step out of the Dropship and your boots magnetically stick to the battlecruiser's hull. A severed arm slowly floats past you. >"Well looks like someone else is havin' a worse day than me.">"Pretty sure that's always the case, Henderson."Barney jumps down the hole first, followed by Jessie, then yourself. The ship's Schematics show up on your HUD and you so happen to notice that the living quarters - specifically the Bar, lie between you and the engines.>1 Well obviously you have to go to the bar first.>2 I mean it's on the way.>3 Delta won't mind.>4 They probably have some really good hooch.>5 Awwww guess we need'a do the mission.
ok, honestly, I don't know if Adj has something waiting for us there or if there's something that can help us and he's just trying make us paranoid.
>>26277275Important question, Adjutant.DOES HENDERSON HAVE SUFFICIENT CIGARS FOR THIS MISSION.
>>26277400Since when did havin' cigars mean you were good at missions? That's just superstition, ya nut.You got maybe 4 cigars on yourself right now, though.
>>26277426My theory is cigars work like WH40k invulnerable saves for henderson. Please do not rudely disabuse me of my notion.
You decide that against all better judgement you should complete the mission you were sent here to do and not collect hard liquor, you goddamn sissy.>"Let's get walkin', ladies. Sooner we get the Boss those engine parts, the sooner we go home."As you continue past the living quarters - specifically as you do not go inside of them - several red-shirted Dominion marines head your way, but haven't seen you yet.>"We've got to get to the escape pods! They've spread throughout the living quarters, it's all gone to hell!">1 Shoot them. Nothing in your orders about survivors.>2 Hide and let them go past you.>3 Clearly this calls for negotiation. You should attempt to get them to stand in front of you while you continue the mission.
Whatever happens, we can't lose Barney and Jessie. WHATEVER HAPPENS.
>>26277625on second thought...
You decide for whatever reason that no confrontation is probably the easiest way, and have your squad duck into a nearby room. The marines hustle past you, with a few loud clanks. This is about the time barney accidentally knocks over a stack of loud cans, which shatter several bottles, knocks over a bowl and somehow sets off a fire alarm. As the bowl slowly spins to a very loud stop and the fire alarm's klaxon sounds, Barney rubs one arm and mumbles>"Whoops. Soh-reh.">"Contact! Something's in that closet! Light it up!"Cigar one goes into your mouth, you crunch down as you grit your teeth and charge headlong into the combat situation. The hall has no cover for you or the enemy squad and that means only one thing: Target practice.Sure, some people might say this is the kind of situation where combat shields would be useful. But you know what those people don't have? Two guns. And you know what's more useful than a shield? Shooting people to death. A stray round ricochets from one of the walls and shoots the cigar from your mouth, before bouncing again and taking out one of your squad. That shot wasn't even close. You manage to mow down all of the Dominion boys. You hustle your squad to the engine room. Scanners read empty, but you have a bad feeling. You'll need a sentry as the other marines get whatever engine junk Mac needs.>1 Set Barney as the Sentry. >2 Set a nameless expendable marine as the sentry.>3 Stand sentry yourself, because you're going to be bored anyway.
>>26277922can't we just use barney and a nameless guy?
>>26277922I guess this is what we get for trying ot hide with Henderson
>>26277922And yes, I just got here, and yes I just saw people use a flashbang on ZergWhy do you let us be so stupid, Adjutant? Can't we have a common sense roll or something?
>>26277996......same. you'd think they'd have learned after that illusion from the protoss templar we faced.
>>26277996Thinking about it, why did we even HAVE flash bangs? This was supposed to be a Zerg only fight, we all went into it suspecting it'll be like that, so why do we have something that is ineffective against them?
>>26278141EMP was in the load out, probably just in case we met internal security measures
You stand as sentry at the entrance to the engine room in the vain hopes that someone will liven up your night by shooting at you. Naturally not one yellow-bellied Dominion boy or ugly-ass Zerg dares challenge you, leaving you to pull out a replacement cigar.Several minutes pass before one of the Nameless marines steps up.>"Sir, we've recovered the primary coupling, we'll be able to reverse engineer blah blah blah I'm a big egghead I don't even know how to hold my C-14 right.">"Alright then, everyone pack it up, we're headin' back to the Dropship!">"I've got motion, sir! Something is coming up through the-"Before the man can even finish, several Banelings pop through the floor paneling. Rounds and promethium pelt the blobby little things as they roll towards your squad. You hear the familiar pops and sizzle of acid.>"Argh!">"Mother..."The blast blows the Cigar clean out of your mouth. Hell, at this rate you'll never get one lit. Your squad is reduced to members you know the names of. That's never good...>"Daluke to Team 2. Commander confirms the infestor is terminated. Expect all Zerg to go feral, over."You wave Barney and Jessie on. It's time to get the hell out of here. Barney picks up the crate of engine junk and hobbles along behind the two of you.>Loading mission parameters: Team 3.
>>26277996i'm guessing it's because they wanted a live specimen. Really not worth it, though.
>>26278141The round is standard for all deployments, commander. Additionally, there are Dominion forces on board, which flashbangs are effective against.
>>26278141Because there are people onboard technically. See Henderson's fight for proof of that. But you just don't use Flashbang on ZergYou just...don't.>>26278138Well there the problem was anons tried to meta it too hard, instead of reacting to the vision. Protoss are so psionic, they can probably make mental shit actually hurt you a lot.
>>26278193why do all the redshirts die?
>>26278193>Banelings...ruuuuUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!! RIGHT NOW RIGHT THE FUCK NOW RUN FUCKING FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK RUN
>>26277996seriously why the fuck do we even carry flash bangs anyway? it seems like anyone who would actually be vulnerable to the dam things would not pose much of a threat anyway.>marineslol visors>zergfuck you i have 37 spare eyes>protossI can see you with my BRAIN!
>>26278227Henderson's squads tend to have an excessive casualty rate, Commander.>>26278234It is too late to order a retreat, Commander.
>>26278227You answered your own question.>redshirts
>>26278256Flashbangs work despite the marine visor, I think, because they're specifically designed to do so...I might be wrong about that though. And even if not, we fight plenty of folk without CMCs
>>26278256Only specialist polarized visors are capable of resisting Flashbang visual radiation.Only well-equipped mercenaries and private security forces will have these.
>>26278259You enjoy our pain too much. We really need to find that mercy file.
>>26278256Well, if you remember in Wings of Liberty, Tychus threw a Flashbang at some Dominion marines and stunned them for a bit.
Another suicide mission. You don't mind it. It's much easier to find a cause to die for, than find something to live for.The Hercules will be pulling alongside the rift between the two ship halves. Your mission is to stabilize the reactor, then collect the primary coolant shield once everyone is ready to evac. It'll give you several minutes before the whole thing goes Nuclear. The problem is that the reactor's actual room is connected to two different parts of the ship, and there's a lot of space between them. Meaning the entire back half of the room is missing, and part of the reactor is just floating free in space.>1 Mag Lock next to the reactor room and walk to it in the interior.>2 Have Hercules maintain position and enter via the open ship's wound.
>>26277922I thank you for your careful attention to Henderson's supplies.
>>26278324Um... doesn't the ship still have a lot of flying Zerg hanging around?
>>26278367they were chased off, all that remains is the overlords.
>>26278324>>2 Have Hercules maintain position and enter via the open ship's wound.
Let's walk through - more dangerous, but we need the hercules and Mia needs plenty of space to ensure it stays 100% safe. She has air superiority, but what if zerg start firing on it from the ships wound?
>>26278367You read the briefing. Don't go forgetting major details. Who are you, Delta? The Zerg pulled out to reinforce. This is your only window of air superiority. There are no zerg fliers and your Wraiths are running interference on overlords. You can call in wraith or Valkyrie strikes if you need them.
>>26278391Your logic implies that the -exact opposite of walking- is the best choice. You need to cut back on the stims before missions.
>>26278393Yeah yeah I know, I just got here, trying to remember stuff... figure if we do the Hercules thing, it'll be a lot faster.
>>26278409The hercules gets damaged or we do. I'd rather it was us.
The Hercules flies alongside the cracked-open reactor room. >"Attach tethers. Jump on my mark.">"I'm ready, Baby. Let's do this."You look over the squad. A medic, Marauder, and 4 marines. Not enough.>"Mark."The team floats from the open Hercules bay into the reactor room. You take position near the ledge, and the squad takes cover. One of the marines heads to the console.>"I need a few minutes! The whole cooling system is venting, I have to reroute it!"You hear a cry. Zerg. Low pitch, high volume. Repeats four times. You guess it's roaches. >1 Stim Marines.>2 Stim Marauder.>3 Snipe roaches.>4 Air strike.
>>26278496Which has a better chance of working, stimming the marauder (whose weapons are best against roaches) or sniping the roaches ourselves?
>>26278532Roaches are armored. Sniping works on light units.Figure it out there, Chief.
>>26278535No dude, Marauders are literally everything armored's weakness.
>>26278496Can we have a wraith sit there and try to snipe any roaches that pop their ugly heads up rather than the wholesale destruction that'll come from an air strike?
>>26278573Sure. Just have your only air support come in danger close and babysit you with heavy ordinance instead of taking out the massive amounts of reinforcements that are no doubt heading your way. That's a good idea. Being alive is over-rated.
>"Tyrone. Stimpacks. Focus fire, squad."The loud scuttle of roaches becomes more distinctive as they approach. They all scuttle through the door at once, going over walls, the floor, and the ceiling as they have to cling to something in the zero gravity environment.>"Yeah! Get some! C'mon baby I can do this all day! All daaaaayy!"You bide your time, waiting for the punisher grenades to blow off chunks of armor before you drill the weak points. The last roach goes down, losing it's grip on the flooring as it does, and flies off out of the rear of the room.>"Team 3, this is the Daluke. Sensors indicate that you have a group of Zerglings and Banelings inbound. Looks like they're moving slow at the moment.">1 Stim Marines.>2 Stim Marauder.>3 Snipe roaches.>4 Air strike.
>>26278748how about>5 snipe banelings
>>262787483 should read Snipe Zerglings.
>>26278748do we have grenades? Sounds like a perfect time to irradiate something.
>>26278780You don't have a fancy gun yet.
>>26278748We don't have concussion grenades, or any other grenades for Whiskey, right?
>>26278798gotta remind Delta to let Mac reverse engineer that thing.Alright, lets think about this. Those banelings will kill our entire squad if we let them near us.
we should just snipe the banes and stim marines, let the marauder tank the lings
>>26278830I figure that Adjy will do the common sense part of 'stim', then back up, while our marauder is up front.Hopefully
>>26278855((I ain't diamond from stimming marines for the attack bonus alone, buddy.))
>"Marines! Stimpacks! Disengage and focus the Banelings!">"Go go go!>"Aww yeah.">"Ch'yeah."The numbers, however, are overwhelming. Your marines duck and dive, their stutter-steps are admirable, but even the greatest warriors make mistakes. A single baneling makes contact and one marine goes down, the rest are seriously wounded, but still in the fight. Hopefully your Medic will be able to get them back to normal.>"Team three, this is the Daluke. I have confirmed the infestor is down. >>26279513Yes it is. We should stop purchasing marines and firebats and just mass produce hendersons, anyway.
>>26279472these days, the quest starts up at the most inopportune times for me, and what things I could prevent usually pass.
>>26279544>Mass produce HendersonsOh god the horror. There wouldn't be enough cigars in the world for that much Henderson. Also Mia would probably die
I fully expected to die when we went inside the Mothership, Adjutant's mercy processors must have had a sudden surge or something. At the rate we're losing heroes though we obviously aren't ready for the ramping up of these more dificult missions. Not with the choices we make at any rate.
>>26279551>>26279472That's true for a lot of things we do, but I'm looking on the bright side, that is that the thing with Whiskey went swimmingly, despite the one death. Injuries heal, deaths don't.
>"Get the data! All units, defensive positions!"You look behind you. The sun you orbit is blocked by the numbers coming into space. Everyone goes silent. Not a sound to be heard in the vacuum of space.Their sweet caress grazes the ship. It's loveless. Their hooks sink in. Behind an angel's disguise, an insect flies. Mandibles cut like a knife. The reckoning...Forming clouds, their shadow shrouds. Louder, the tattered wings they sound. Descending down. They come. The swarm of Locusts.>"Contact - all vectors! There's too many of them!">"Open fire! Open fire!">"Cover me I'm reloading!">"Tyrone! Get back! Use your stims!">"MEEEEEDDDIICCC!"Your position is hopelessly over-run. Your men fall back, those who don't are torn limb from limb. Tyrone jumps past you, possibly the only survivor apart from the marine with the case full of shielding. He falls to the ground as seven or eight Zerglings swarm over him. His last living action is to throw the brief case towards the Daluke. You intercept it, then push off into the space between ships. Tyrone is already onboard, his hand extended to grab you if you get close enough. The wave of Zerg has leap after you, zergling wings twitch pointlessly as they snarl and swipe at your feet. One tangles with your cord and pulls itself up to your face. Your rifle is knocked free. You draw the combat knife sheathed on your shoulder and gut the Zergling, before you're pulled aboard the Hercules.>"Get us the hell out of here, Ensign!">Loading Mission Parameters, Daluke Actual.
>>26279564No. I'm pretty sure Adjutant would drop acid, watch Evangelion for a bit and come back with a world-ending event where the ego of the various Hendersons overpowers everything - Terran, Protoss, Zerg, Xel'Naga and the galaxy becomes a hegemony.
>>26279611Oh, great, we lost all the marines and a medic.

Whatever we do: DO NOT HAVE THE DALUKE ENGAGE THE CORRUPTORS.
>>26279918Overseers do, and Overlords can change into Overseers.
>>26279918Overseers are in the fleet, additionally. Stealth will not give you an advantage against a Zerg force this size.
>>26279918Don't try to metagame the quest, dumbass. Overlords are psionic creatures, they'll see through cloaking.
>>26279945We're just stalling for time, right?Use our Air superiority to take down the Corruptors before they get close enough to hurt our capital ship, and use the Daluke's cannons to hit the mutalisks, since I assume they'd get shredded by the batteriesYou're having us discuss a course of action, I assume?
>>26279958bitch, please, we're a ghost. This is info we'd know.
>>26279971The Yamato is a single target weapon.
>>26279993I am aware. I said the missile batteries. We have like, 25 of them.
>>26279990You mean like we knew that flashbangs would be ineffective against Zerg?
>>26280008I'm pretty sure they teach marines that on their first day...Right along with "this end makes things die."
>>26279777>>26279874Wraiths on corruptors, valkyries on mutalisks, Daluke on overlords.
You don't have any more time to think. It's time to engage the enemy.Wraiths:>1 Engage Mutas.>2 Engage Overlords.>3 Engage Corruptors.
>>26280040Just gonna say, we probably don't need to worry about the Overlords. They're the ones controlling the horde, but there's no way we'll be able to kill them all, the swarm would protect them if we tried to target overlords specifically. We're just stalling for time, not trying to kill them all.
>>26280018>>26279990Christ I hate you namefags. Anyway, we should have the Wraiths hit the corruptors as they'd be best at killing the slow moving, slow firing fuckers. The Valkyrie should tear up the lightly armored mutalisks and the Daluke is faster than Overlords and can run them down. That sound alright?
>>26280063Three target groups for three attackers, though.
>>26280092Fair enough, I hate you, too.
>>26280092...I don't really know why you hate us for making jokes, but I agree with you actually.

>>26280318Almost everyone is aboard dropships, and to meta it, we know Whiskey gets back (Kind of) alive. The Wraiths are being pounded, so any help to them is definitely worth it. The overlords will keep.
...guys. Corruptors love killing capital ships. What the fuck are you thinking?
>>26280364The Overlords are transporting reinforcements aboard the Yelon. You still have 2 ground teams moving to their dropships for Evac. The Daluke will take damage regardless of it's engagement. Forces are too numerous. Directly engaging Corruptors poses the greatest risk.

If we wait for the dropships to unload and go back, it'll take too long and the corruptors will reach us.We need to send the Valkyries, take our knocks, collect everyone, and warp out as soon as possible.

>>26281014Uhhh... I count four 1s and two 2s, Adjutant.What the fuck?
>>26281063Votes do not count past the first 4 minutes. There was only one valid vote. Remember that in extreme combat situations reflexes will be required.
>>26281014Yeah... Battlecruiser specs definitely weren't worth it.

>>26281014Doesn't seem like it'd matter a whole lot...Lost pretty much everything in the past two missions. Can we please stay home and build up, for once? Pretty please?
>>26281156>>26281161Time was not a luxury available in that situation, Commander. Other crew members do not have immediate access to an Adjutant A.I. and must make less informed decisions in quicker periods of time. They are able to apply more relevant experience immediately, however.Additionally, only 1 question was asked before the timer expired, and it had no real relevance to mission success chances, at it was an implied condition of the mission.
>>26281112Hell, I though we were in the discussion phase still and didn't even vote.
>>26281116Wow, your vote doomed 3 useful crew you asshat
>>26281195Heh, we should have Adjutant installed in everyone's wrist. That way we can have a mechanical voice tell us how dumb we are all the time
>>26281198For future referenceDiscussion phase:>OptionVoting phase:># Option. This has been the attempted standard, although there have been exceptions. It is prudent to always assume that numbered options signal a legitimate vote.
Honestly even with the 'time limit' I would have waited for more people to vote. You don't have just wren here after all. We aren't actually playing an RTS, its a quest.
>>26281195An 'implied condition of the mission'? I'm sorry, but one thing I've learned in this quest is that if we assume ANYTHING, then we're making a bigass mistake. Unless the question was "Can we use the Banshee?" then it had relevance to mission success.
>>26281227Figured as much.I understand the idea of 'quick reflexes' to reply, but man, we make bad decisions when we have like an hour to discuss before hand.Having to make reckless decisions doesn't help our track record...But maybe I'm just slightly depressed because of all the death around us.Can, uh, I get a list of casualties after we make it to safety?
>>26281285The Daluke had no other objectives and was already in fire support range of the transports, as it was already providing fire support.
>>26281291((I have to tally them, and add them to the memorial wall I have yet to post.It got... really, really long.))
>>26281316Was afraid of that.gonna have to turn the memorial into the fucking graveyard on the ship.
>>26281227Bravo, bravo, adjutant. You have managed to integrate in-game mechanics into the thread itself and being in character. You have my respect
>>26281307That's great. However I could not assume that, which is why I asked. If you want to punish us for asking question then fine, go ahead. But jesus christ, it's not like you don't have enough opportunities to let us fuck ourselves over anyway. And one vote? Letting the lives of those characters hang on one vote? Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.
You step onto the bridge just as you hear the XO>"Mark!"The familiar pull of Warp space replaces the endless Zerg swarm with the blue-green orb that is Murric. The XO turns to face you with the news.>"We lost everyone aboard the Centennial Hawk except for Whiskey. He's coming onboard with the last bit of the Schematics now."You look at the damage control. The Daluke's taken a major beating. Most systems are online. The fact that it completed the jump in one piece is a mystery. In fact, you might've found the ship in better condition than it's in now.>"How bad are our casualties, XO?">"Let me put it like this, sir. I'm contacting our ground base to bring SCVs off of mining to begin repairs before the ship's pulled apart by gravity. Your recent losses have been far too heavy. >"Do what needs to be done then, XO.">"Aye, sir. >>26281372I do not understand you, Commander. Assuming the Daluke will not provide fire support as the Daluke is currently providing firing support seems highly illogical.
>>26281417Gotta remember we AREN'T logical. At all. We don't make the connections to things and remember the details that you do.
>>26281385It's gonna be really hard explaining ourselves to an rightfully angry NPC when all we can say is "My brain is made up of about 10-15 anons. I don't know what to tell you bro."
>>26281417The order at that time was 'Attack Overlords' not 'Provide fire support'. Forgive me for taking it literally when NOT taking it literally has gotten us into trouble before. No, now you're just being an asshole.
>>26281485The overlords were directly threatening the dropships.By definition, destroying these overlords meant that you were focused on defending the dropships, literally providing direct fire support, Commander.
>>26281503The overlords were threatening the crew retreating to the dropships. They couldn't threaten the dropships themselves as overlords can't attack air targets, nor deploy a sufficient amount of anti-air units to really stop the dropships in time.
>>26281385>"Whiskey, just listen to me-"Henderson and Mia walk aboard the bridge, now that they're ship-board as well. >"I'm done listening to you. Your whole situation here is FUBAR to the highest degree. These people are lucky they're not dead already. You've won a couple hearts playing freedom fighter, but I'm out."Whiskey turns and storms off without another word. Henderson raises a hand to touch his shoulder as he passes, but he just shakes it off. Mia looks at you, sullenly.>"We lost all of Screaming Eagle wing. Purple Squadron's still kicking but... beat up."Henderson shrugs. >"Don't pay him too much attention, boss. He'll cool off an' come back around. He's just sore about losin' good folks is all."You doubt that, and you can sense Henderson does as well. You turn back to the XO.>"I... don't recommend any more missions for a while, sir.">"I think you're right, XO."
>>26281503Sorry Adjutant... but I gotta agree with the anon. Not clarifying something like that has bit us in the butt before and he is in the right that asking it shouldn't have been punished.
>>26281485Again, I highly doubt it mattered all that much. We've had shit rolls for the past 2 or so threads man.
>>26281528Commander, space relative to the dropships, evacuating crew, and overlords could all fit within the hull of the entire Daluke. The Daluke is over 1 KM long. Please review size chart.
>>26281538Making an informed decision always helps, namefag.
>>26281529>I don't recommend any missionsTHANK YOU SWEET MOTHER OF CHRISTMan, finally we can build up. >>26281529Goddamit...I don't know why I feel so angry...but I mean are the dice gods pissed at us or something?
we need a kinder DC, or maybe Adjutant should switch over to best of three hah!
>>26281594They take no pity on anyone.
>>26281612Now you know why Xcom penetrates assholes all day every day.
((Thread's over, I'm going to tally the dead and then 3 weeks of production on Murric before you resume missions. If you guys have any questions do 'em now. I'm going to sleep soon here.))
>>26281560Alright, if you want to play it that way... If we're so bloody large, why weren't we able to literally hover right on top of where the Hercules went down? How could the Zerg have hit the escape pods if the Daluke was RIGHT THERE, being huge? But these facts aren't the issue here, the issue is that in this quest you give us as little information as possible. We have to pry the tiniest bit of it out of you. And as Sal would have known this OBVIOUSLY OBVIOUS information without even needing to think about it, how can you say that providing us (who are not Sal) with that information should cause us to time out the split second decision?
>>26281612How about you stop being a retard and assume your decisions are the right ones
>>26281629Well, how much do you estimate we might get after 3 weeks of production? Hoping we'll be a match for a Zerg swarm that this Broodmother will be running
>>26281629I don't know where to start,How is Delta's mind right now?How is Morale? Can we recover?
>>26281653These too...Moral's gotta be fucking shitty as all hell.Speaking of: Next 3 weeks off for all hardened crew. These weeks will mostly be for research, recruitment, and new unit training I think.
>>26281629What did Whiskey do at the end of this? Did he leave or just went to sulk in a corner?
>>26281638You were. The question was not where the Daluke was deployed, but what it was shooting at.The Zerg were just so Numerous that size wasn't everything. More importantly, the Hercules was between two halves of a burning, nearly-nuclear battlecruiser, under fire from nimble mutalisks who are faster than your fighter. It didn't have far to go, but the distance it had to go was -incredibly- dangerous. But to be honest, it doesn't matter. The choices at their core were "risk transports to save hero" and "risk heroes to save transports".The chances of survival were identical either way. It was a tradeoff question, not a "x or y" question.
>>26281646A lot, that's 21 days. I need a lot of redshirts because this was the easiest of the 'new planet' missions.I suggest you pick things that have been on the list for a while. Obviously.>>26281653You rolled a 4 on damage to the Daluke.4 out of 100.It's a hero so it got a reroll to save it, but damage is serious, you lost a lot of crew that I still have to roll for exact numbers on.Delta's going to add this one to her "I fucked up" nightmares. It also increased her spectre side effects because of emotional stress, but I can't go into details on what that means yet cuz lolspoilers. You'll recover. >>26281670He left the ship.I'm not sure what I'm going to do with him yet. He might go back to Alpha. He might start his own rogue faction. I don't know.
>>26281674I don't care what kind of question it was, that's not really important. What I care is that you accepted only a single answer. A single answer from a fucking retard that I could have at least made into a coin flip if I didn't have to worry about the dangers of assumptions in this quest.A worry that, I think, you've been trying to bring about in us anons.
>>26281712Course. I want to do the old Hive World mission next, because I expect light to medium Zerg resistance and, once vaporized, maybe a really nice series of bases? Course, things can always go wrong, thus is the core of the Xcom system you have in place...but I hope we can get at least a couple more bases that way.I figured the emotional stress would make the Spectre shit worse...feels like it'll eventually turn us into a cold hearted killer. Who knows though.Whiskey better not go back to Alpha...that shit would suck.Uh...did...Charlie make it by the way?
>>26281733You have to balance the worry with the lack of information. That's the game. That's always been the game. Now I just put a timer on it when it's really hard mode missions. The difficulty will continue to ramp up, both realistic and artificial, as you put yourself in increasingly difficult situations and don't pay attention to information you've already received. It's not like I didn't specifically tell you, several times, in this thread alone, that you only have 4 minutes. When there's 2-3 minutes between receiving your answer and voting there's still a problem. I don't know which vote was yours exactly but I still have people casting votes after I've already posted the results, sometimes. If you're that slow you're going to die, Commander.
>>26281712Also would like to point out why anons ended up doing the new battleship mission, I feel like: Is because it felt time dependent, which it probably was. It's unfortunate that so many felt like rushing out to get it but there's not much to do now but try and fix things... I just wish we could explain ourselves to NPCs better, other then saying "Well 10 people run my brain so purple tastes good."
>>26281733This. If you would take even just a single vote, disregard the namefags. They've contributed nothing but stupid options not unlike that of the trolls we had quite some threads back
>>26281813Dude, I was hoping we were going to save survivors. That was why I voted for the mission.
>>26281813It was. the missions change as time goes on, like New Ares. The Protoss showed up because you didn't deal with the Changeling infestation for so long. The Yeron would've been a Hydron Mk 2. In a way I'm playing the broodmother and making a move each time you do.And I'm holding all the cards.
>>26281798Will Delta recover, does our crew hate us?
>>26281845But when we saw it was Dominion and swarming with Zerg, what did you do?I voted to blow it up and skedaddle
>>26281879This may have been because I overlooked some information, because I thought we'd be sending in rescue teams.
>>26281852...You're...the Broodmother?God damn it, that bitch is cheating! She's stealing the GM's notebook and doesn't have 10 people arguing about what SHE should do!Heh, someone should start a parallel quest to this one with a derpy Broodmother that's just like Delta
>>26281865Delta is broken. Delta has always been broken. Delta will, most likely, break even further before anything important happens.Luckily you have the unbreakable XO. His shortcomings are personal, while yours are professional.
>>26281897Ah...well we all misread once in a while I suppose. I thought it might be civilians too, but in hindsight I shoulda known. Civilians don't just run in battlecruisers...On the bright side, I think we have a little zerg biomass to research, so that's good.
>>26281930Taking the Changeling live is going to be big, I can feel it.I'm actually not sure how the infestor will benefit you yet. I need it to be something useful but not gamebreaking.
>>26281944Heh, so these are gonna be completely unique then? Or based on the Wings of Liberty campaign?
>>26281798In this thread you did not once mention the time limit. In the post in question you did not say anything along the lines of "You have no time, make your decision now". This is not a computer game, this is an imageboard where people do not read at the same speeds, do not have the same speed of internet, and do not always refresh at the same time.Just... fuck you, Adjutant. This time it wasn't our stupid decisions that fucked us, it was all you.
>>26281960Little of A little of B.Maybe Cellular reactors, maybe stealth CMCs.Who knows.
>>26281973You...uh apparently haven't even looked at the pastebin, dude.No offense, just think you might want to read it some.
>>26281975Now if only we could figure out how to capture a Ultralisk alive...
>>26281845You fucking idiot. Why should we put our own crew at risk just to entertain the possibility of having the survivors join us? They're Dominion to boot, so they still count as hostiles. Now we've lost a whole bunch of mooks, Tyrone, not!Han, not!Chewy, Whiskey and much of our space combat effectiveness
>>26281988Since when was I talking about a pastebin?>In this threadNo wonder you miss bits of information Adjutant drops.
I'm saddened by the loss of the Falcon... that crew saved us from certain death with Charlie, it's been here since the start. Probably the biggest loss we suffered.
>>26282028You mentioned not realizing that there was a time limit, even though despite Adjutant saying it several times in this thread, it is also put in the pastebinI mean, I misread things sometimes, I admit that, but I'm just saying anon, that's a little unfair to claim that.
>>26281973See>>26279241Also see >>26281227And no, it wasn't me, it was mostly the dice rolls and the fact that you were not only on this mission, but decided to do it Scooby-Doo style.I just didn't make it easier on you when I could have.I haven't violated any of my usual modus operandi other than taking off the kid gloves. No one complained when I did it the last time in the Daluke-fighting-Dominion-Battlecruisers-Over-Murric thread.Even after me specifically not telling you that moving would cause them to nuke 17.3 million people and just letting you do it.In that case it was because if I told you, you would've stood your ground and possibly lost the Daluke to some poor rolls, which would've been really bad.I'm not arguing this any more. If, for any reasons you listed, you can't participate then you can't play the game and need to work on your own personal problems. I'm not handicapping difficult. It's not going to happen no matter how much you bitch. This shit is hard and if you aren't expecting a bad ending by now you really haven't paid attention.
>>26281975How many 'mining bases' does the Broodmother have, by the way?Because...well, no matter what we do with these bases, if she has 8 bases to our 2, we'll lose. Thus is the law of Starcraft.
>>26282019because I'm not comfortable leaving people to die. Just because they're dominion doesn't mean that they're absolutely hostile. We've had survivors from one dominion ship serve under us.
>>26282076Does anyone else think that our first move should be to move to New Alb after this?Last time we were on the starmap, the two new factions were about to go head to head. We've spent way too many resources and time on that planet to let it go to shit again.
>>26282076>Nuking MurricI'm still mad about that, people really should've just let the station go and save the planet itself entirely. Instead we ended up letting them nuke Murric and lost the station anyway.I mean, half of it is bad rolls I'm sure, but...well you know. Still doesn't feel good.
>>26282077I'll give you a hint. She's Zerg. You're not going to beat her in a numbers game at this point, because she's basically been droning while you failed a Battlecruiser rush.
>>26282113It depends. I want to scout out what the Broodmother is doing, before we do anything after those 3 weeks. Then after, we can either go to the Hive World to build up, or go to fight her...I don't want to be caught with my pants down.Again
>>26282132>>26282113My advice (read: what whiskey told you point blank was your problem) is to focus on building bases.
>>26282115Well poop. Also>If you're not expecting a bad end, you're not paying attention.So...does that mean big battle that we lose and quest over? Or we lose everything and start from square one: A ghost with some fancy gear?Because as much as I hate your dice, I do like this quest.
>>26282156The ending will probably never happen, but it's a bad end. It's a very bad end.
>>26282148Uh...do we have to wait the whole 3 weeks to take the Hive World? It's been on there since square one.
At this point I think I'll just start rooting for the Broodmother.
>>26282168"3 weeks" is going to happen between this thread and tomorrows. That way we can start in missions.
>>26282173Guys wanna make it "Broodmother vs Tardghost quest"? What about "The tales of Kassix and how he totally had the wrong chosen one"?
>>26282148Okay, in the first post of next thread, can Whiskey's words ring in our head or something, so we don't forget? Ever?
>>26282176Right...right.Uh...see the problem I'm having is, I figure the Broodmother is way too far ahead of us to catch now unless we pull some fancy shit...wait....wait...maybe...maybe we can harrass her bases?
>>26282192I'll just have the Xo be like "hey so we should set up RV parks."
>>26282199Banshee rush and aim for her tech.
>>26282191I actually play Zerg in the game myself, so I'd be game...but for now, we ghost
>>26282212Banshee or Widow Mine/Hellbat Drop maybe?I mean, I know it's not exactly like the game, but we've let the Zerg expand all over the map, so I figure some harrassment might actually help
>>26282227You don't have either of those yet.Soon.
>>26282237Heh I know, just thinking outloud here.Whenever I offrace, I get really paranoid about leaving the Zerg alone.
>>26282227>>26282212>>26282191If it doesn't trouble you, I have a gameplay enhancing suggestion to make: Can you draw up a starmap displaying the planets, their proximity with each other, our location and the various factions' spheres of influence? This way we can get an idea of the forces in these local sector. Unknown areas can be represented with Fog of War
>>26282191The tales of Kassix sounds better and after we die he becomes a reoccurring character saying that every MC we have is the chosen one.
>>26282295I plan on it now that I have 'all the planets' but I haven't had time yet. There will be an official starmap some day.
>>26282295Personally, I have horrible art skills. I mean, unless you love Microsoft Paint blobs or something.
>>26282300>Protoss QuestHell, I'd follow itCourse, I tell myself I'm going to do my own Zerg quest one of these days...one of these days.
>>26282300Henderson becomes the protagonist, and journeys of bravado and glory abound
>>26282314Ooo, really? Neat. Too bad the quest hasn't attracted a drawfag...guess they're all too busy arguing over which options get us fucked up the ass the softest.
>>26282369I'm not bad at art. I'm just lazy and don't have a tablet or a scanner. I'll probably be stealing art assets from some 4X game that no one's heard of, like Distant Worlds.
>>26282314>>26282369I could do B&W character sketches if I had time, but work is aplenty lately so I can't drawfag in peace
>>26282406I already have halfassed photoshops for main characters.
>>26282385That'd work out pretty well. Hell, I don't care if you take it from Liquipedia. Visuals always help, which is why it's good that you have a library of SC2 pics.
>>26282334If you did end up making a zerg one be prepared to attract the old "Zerg quest" players and what that might bring.
>>26282427Fucking sweet, your skills outshine mine by far. I'll just work on my own skills in my own time;_;
>>26282427Right, also: I noticed that we've pretty much gotten half our old team killed, which was like our biggest NPC allies no doubt...Any other heroes we might hopefully run into, maybe? We sure could use a hero scientist, or...well, a hero medic since people die all the damn time around here.
>>26282450I read the first...10 threads. The only things I remember is "Dickling" And "Fuckyoulisk"I would be prepared...I hope.
>>26282458Yeah I don't know if anyone ever actually clicks the barney-bat when I post it.
>>26282465We have Doctor Nelhav and Doctor Lee on board, as well as Jessie Daluke as the hero Medic
>>26282465our hero medic is Jessie
>>26282495....Whoa, made that yourself did you?that's pretty great to be 'half assed' as you say.Course I'm not exactly an art critic.
>>26282486>The first 10 threadsYou are really missing out then as we got past that "phase" of the quest and it became quite something.
>>26282465You'll get heroes as time goes on, but only 1 of each unit type with the exception of ghosts. So, for example, you can never replace Tyrone with a hero marauder, but you can -create- a hero marauder if one of them accidentally acquires a name and personality, thus promoting him up from redshirt status. Also you already have your hero scientist who you shouldn't lose seriously how would you even do that.
>>26282516>>26282507I meant Medivac...crap, can't type anymoreAlso, I did forget the scientist...now I feel bad. She was cool. Still can't get those damn z's Adjutant puts in everything out of my head.
>>26282531I also tell myself I'm going to read the whole quest before I start my own. Get tips, learn tricks, and pits.I tell myself a lot of things, sadly...
How's Charlie going?Losing Whiskey like this was annoying; almost losing her to the Protoss was soul-crushing though. If we had died then and there, I would have seen it as an amazing end to this campaign. Speaking of which, would you actually kill us off completely if the situation/and or dice demanded it? I'm guessing yes, but I don't think it's ever been clearly asked.
>>26282546The medivac is a hero medivac who has not had an opportunity to shine yet. You're gonna like it though.
>>26282544We roll a 1 on a 'talk to the scientist' roll.
>>26282495>>26282522If half-assed meant "recoloured" and "applied grafitti", then he means it.
>>26282544>Create hero...Do you mean you want us to actually name them and shit? Or by chance would one do something heroic and earn himself a name?>Picturing that scene from Order of the Stick where the guy is dying and someone says his first name.>PerfectAlso>How would you even lose a scientistAnd then people wanted to do a boarding party using the Daluke.
>>26282566She'll be awake in 3 weeks. I dunno how she'll feel about the whiskey thing yet.If the dice demands it you will die. DP has normal hero saving throws but every hero unit will 'sacrifice' themselves to save her, first, if possible. So every time a hero dies, you can blame yourself.
>>26282574Oh, sweet. I look forward to it then...I hope it's saving us from some mind numbingly stupid decision.
>>26282620not at this rate.
>>26282609Again, I'd like to ask...how do we explain to Charlie our brain is divided into 15 segments? The problem with most social interaction in Quests, I feel...justifying erratic behavior.
>>26282589This guy gets it.It's even poorly-mouse-drawn graffiti.I am sorry original artist. ;_;>>26282590No. Just you happen to have a marauder on a mission, let's say. And somehow he rolls a 100 vs an ultralisk and brawls it with his gloves and you suddenly have a British fisticuffs marauder because his randomly generated name was Barleyton Appletrousers or something. He'd be a hero unit mechanically after something cool like that.
>>26282641possibly by blaming the Terrazine
>>26282641So it's funny.I actually have the solution but I can't tell you.And you won't find until you've 'won' the quest. And it makes sense you wouldn't know.So any excuse that anons believe is what DP believes, and thus what she will tell people.
>>26282645Heh, well you made it look Barney appropriate, is that better?>Barleyton AppletrousersPlease save that. That's gold. A British Marauder. My sides will never return.
>>26282609...We really need to find those Mercy drivers.DP's nightmares are going to start blending into reality at this rate, and especially with all of the Spectare bs. I wonder what will happen first, our death or our mental breakdown...
>>26282544Didn't Wrenloft submit a character idea to you over twitter? DId it actually come through and who was it?
>>26282670Well shit.Fine then...any idea how high the thread count will go, you think? Just curious really.
>>26282689not enough canon to support or deny it. It's on ice.
>>26282686You have actually been rolling against hallucinations (among other things) since the first treatment and not failed once.I probably shouldn't tell you that because now someone's going to be like "No that Ultralisk is a hallucination let's ignore it." and get everyone killed.>>26282689Yeah, Protoss-raised kid.I'm not sure how to fit it in. It's a pretty bland concept and I originally considered it for 'Kassix' but I scrapped it because I didn't know if it could 'fly' in lore.
>>26282670Also regarding character death:Should DP actually kick the bucket due to some unfortunate circumstance, will we end the quest there? Or shall we jump consciousness to the next available hero?I assume you have a contingency plan, by this point. You'd be crazy not to.
>>26282721We've learned, I think.Never ignore hallucinations. They actually CAN hurt you, making Sentries incredibly OP
>>26282729>50...not sure how to feel about that.
>>26282737I'll probably end the quest.I might start another quest in a different universe, though.>>26282757Nope, not true. That wasn't a Hallucination you were fighting. That was just how you visualized the 'psionic battle' so to speak.
Also for the record, we're not archived yet
>>26282773That's the "you guys are going to fuck up and die" estimate.
>>26282773With everyone who doesn't know shit about starcraft's lore and gameplay, it'll be a miracle if we ever got that far
>>26282791We are. It's between 15 and 17.I have no idea why but it's recording them out of order.
>>26282783>A new questHuh...well alright. Keep me posted with Twitter then I suppose.>Visual representation of psionic battleAND WE LOST BECAUSE WE DIDN'T DO THE LOGICAL THING OF THROWING A HELLFIRE AT A GOD DAMN ROACH>Capatcha uunable HowYES CAPATCHA THAT IS VERY HOW
>>26282803Oh...well shit. Good then
Alright I sleep.Night guys.
>>26282886Goodnight Adjutant.Farewell fellow anons, may tomorrow we fix our mistakes.
>>26282898i doubt it. we'll probably just make more.
>>26282544Accident with labs and changelings and doorknob chewing, I think.
Two threads missed and everyone fucked our crew overI mean really? The amount of stupidity within this thread is astoundingholy shit you guys are the dumbest fucking rocks to make these decisions and think they're good. Holy shit its like playing with fucking kindergartners that doesn't understand why we lose so much and gain so little. Fucking seriously the rage within me is huge. I fucking hate you all (except you adjutant you're still cool)
>>26283123so I just read the last two threads and whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
>>26283123>>26283645I just did as well, missed due to timezone and sleep, why?As i was going through the thread i even thought, why do we need this, we need a fusion core and a tech lab on a starport to even begin thinking about building them anyway.
>>26283123fucking this, I disappear for the weekend and these cunts ruin everything, fuck this, fuck them, I'm outAdjy, good fucking luck getting to 30 threads with these morons at the helm let alone 50-75
