>>26260125Continuing from last time>I'd personally like it if their overman nature was something you could see. Like, maybe their eyes are a weird shade, or maybe they shine brighter because they've been adjusted for low-light vision.
>>26260150No... the flaws we had agreed on was the better way to go in particular as FATE is being used and you need a substantial drawback for the advantage.
Past threadshttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26125024/ Thread 1http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26128571/ Thread 2http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26139660/ Thread 3http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26157033/ Thread 4https://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/26190178/ Thread 5Thread 5.5: Right here >>26232720What Has been done: Alot of Arguing about the TRA
>>26260170It can go both ways. For instance, have you ever been shining a flashlight in the dark and you can see a cat or owl's eyes just light up? It can be compelled.
>>26260185Yes, but that sort of flaw doesn't cause a detriment.
>>26260223It would be good enough for the purposes of FATE. I'm thinking a lot of these can be wrapped up in a mandatory aspect or two for the TRA, which I can then play off with their Superiority skill.
>>26260119I'm alright with flaws, but the flaws ought to be connected in some way with their focus, an extension of their overspecialization, of pushing to human body to the edge of what it's capable of. If a family is focused on night/stealth operations with dilated eyes meant for the dark, litheness, and maybe hands focused on unarmed combat the flaws to arise from that would be a sensitivity to light, some fragility from the litheness, and a difficulty using their murderhands for other tasks. If you focus on making submariners to fit in small spaces they'll naturally be smaller with all the disadvantages that come from that.If you make pilots with a lot of information processing, a focused visual cortex, and twitch reflexes they'll be twitchy outside of the jet and may react badly to information overload and rely overly much on sight over the other senses. If you make a bulky, tough, reinforced shocktrooper they may end up being larger than is practical leading to shorter lifespans as their frames weren't meant to support that level of reinforced bone and muscle, their heart has to pump a fuckton of blood around, or they are forced to eat double or triple what a normal person eats to support themselves and waste away without absurd caloric intake. If you give a mechanic long lithe fingers to manipulate small things they would need personalized tools to fit their odd hand dimensions and lack some strength.
>>26260258So we're doing another 180 in concept for the TRA?
>>26260283Personally, I'm not into flaws. I think if TRA is big on perfection, they'd be continually improving a single model. So everybody in the TRA has the same genetic enhancements. Like I said before, these should be obvious, through things like unnatural coloration, perfect body symmetry, and so on.
>>26260258When you make these kinds of obvious specializations and adjustments you end up having a caste society in the vein of Brave New World. I'm not sure if we really want to go that far, but I think it's possible to connect the idea of specialized gene modifications to the previously established idea of Tube-Born. Maybe each house breeds specialized tube-born, to fullfill particular roles. These wouldn't be the TRA cadets themselves (because a TRA cadet shouldn't overspecialize, but to strive for perfection in everything), but rather their serfs and retainers that they can call upon, depending on what house they belong to. How about it?
>>26260311I'm not into the flaw paradigm either This guy has some sense, there are some obvious things, the whole unnatural coloring, symmetry. Let's keep this and it aligns with the fluff we had so far.
>>26260311Again, there are costs to "perfection". Some embrace it, some curse it, and some wish they never had it.What I am seeing here is a unwillingness to let go of the TRA houses being perfect. I've droped my Hoffewald thing I had in earlier threads, if only to allow other houses to shine. This is the development phase.I'm just wondering if other projects had this much vitriol being spewed about. Hell, the TRA has caused the most conflict among all of the factions.
>>26260344This Idea works, though I will say some TRA Recruits would be regular Tube-Born due to the fact that the tube born system has it's advantages for making large family's.
>>26260357You misunderstand. The TRA aren't perfect. They strive towards perfection. This is in part because the TRA was founded by the noble houses that survived a revolution, and they believe that in order to return to ruling the common people they have to be demonstrably superior to them in all respects: smarter, healthier, wiser, better. If you're not superior to those you rule over you invite another revolution. Politics is an important part of the TRA in a way that differentiates them from the other factions in the setting. Maybe that could be the focus of some abilities? Commanding presence, oratory skills, charisma or intimidation, leadership abilities, the possibility to call upon cohorts and to see tactical perspectives on the battlefield that others cannot?
Our previous thread has been archived.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/26232720/
>>26260411I like this... I really really like this
>>26260411Yes and that conflicts with the MTI/MAT in terms of theme. If anything if they are questing for perfection it is because they all had been bought low in order to have a chance at surviving a revolution. The TRA should be a story about those who broke themselves to survive to regain their former glory, not perfect wunderkind looking to be gods.
>>26260311So how about this? The eyes of all TRA cadets have been modified to let in and retain more light. This subtle alteration of the structure of the eye creates an optical illusion upon the iris, creating rings of different color as the light filters through it, much like the blue color of the sky. In most TRA people, this is a red hue, but in some (due to microabrasions on the eyeball) this can be different colors. This little "bug" has no impact on the eye's performance, and was originally supposed to be fixed. Tsarkovsky, however, found it so beautiful that he commanded it be left in.
TRA soldiers never scar. No matter how deep or large the injury, the wound will close without a trace. Similarly, the TRA has no moles, freckles, or other marks upon their skin. Only the most catastrophic damage on a TRA soldier will leave a permanent mark.
>>26260453Uh, what? The point of MAT is that they are sponsored by their own government. They're a thinktank and a research institute, a skunkworks that tests advanced technology. Their "search for perfection" is completely apolitical, it's individual scientists and engineers looking to improve designs and make machinery better (including machinery that's part of themselves). The MAT are a bunch of nerds, not politicians. They aren't good at any of that "talking to people" stuff.
>>26260496What? What sort of mary sue bullshit is this?
>>26260496How would those so marked be regarded? Heroes? Weaklings?
>>26260517>>26260496Seriously? I thought all of the TRA being vampires was stupid.
>>26260411I think the perfect body symmetry that was suggested before plays into this. The appearance of each TRA member has been scientifically calibrated to appeal to the subconscious preferences common to all human beings. Their voices are clearer and louder, and their faces have been altered to be within an acceptable proportion and ratio to each other.
>>26260514Um. It's not? They aren't wolverine regenerators. They just don't get scars because the TRA is vain like that.
>>26260496No... they scar, they can bleed. The wounds heal faster but they can still feel pain and what the fuck is wrong with freckles!
>>26260554HOLY SHIT! THE VAIN, ARROGANT NOBILITY MAKES THEIR SUPERSOLDIERS TO THEIR STANDARDS OF ATTRACTIVE! MORE BREAKING NEWS AT 11.
>>26260548Freckles generally don't appear in even, geometric patterns, and can make one's face look dirty. Nobility the world over always took care to prevent getting marks or blemishes on their skin, including freckles.Of course they bleed and die. They just don't leave scars behind once they're done healing. Some real people don't leave visible scars from their injuries. TRA just makes that a standard issue thing.
How about this? We remove the TRA completely. Their genetic research is what triggered the revolution and brought all the houses down.
>>26260517Context is important. Even if you got it most heroically, most TRA guys would still urge you to undergo some kind of restorative process.
>>26260496>>26260536>>26260545That's going a bit far, I think. More subtle effects to start with, but I guess a high-level character that sinks a bunch of points into it can take perks like that.>>26260453I don't disagree that they've been laid low and are recovering. After all, these are the people willing to experiment on their own children, turn people into overspecialized freaks and have preteens fight proxy wars and assassinate each other over inheritance rights and old feuds. The striving for perfection takes a heavy toll. A TRA noble is burdened with duties and obligations from birth, and that burden never gets lighter, only heavier.
>>26260591Eh, most of those are purely cosmetic, and for a society of nobles, appearances are important.
Whatever happen, I'll be glad if House Hoffwald got remove.
>>26260469This, I like this. TRA should have more genetic mods like this and less long-fingered freaks.
Here is what I am wondering and this is what is making this sound suspect. We started working on the flaws and everyone was on board with them. Then suddenly a wave of samefagging anons show up and start ram-rodding their flawless in every way goddamn mary sues back into the TRA when we were trying to purge them. Hell, even that swag faggot straightened his shit out mostly. What the fuck /tg/. thought you hated this shit. Now this is sounding like a quest and the protag is going to be a flawless TRA ubermench.
>>26260616They weren't removed, they're still a thing, although it seems that swag tripfag actually is starting to get his shit straight.
>>26260631This is getting back to roots, man, and filling out the original concept like it was asked. And so far, I like it. It fits the nature of TRA as it has been described so far.Despite being pretty, "perfect" humans, TRA guys still die. They aren't mary sues unless the world bends around them, and it doesn't.
>>26260652Social powerhouses, flawless appearances, beautiful voices. That and being goddamn space marines?See this shit is how you make "original character, do not steal".
>>26260616I agree, their whole house concept is retarded, a young new upstart house that won't fight and survive because everyone love and idolize them.A mary sue if anything.
>>26260663So they're attractive because they mod themselves to be. So what? That's been in like a million different things. It's not a bad concept for them, because they are vain, arrogant douchebags and this would be really, really important to them.
>>26260668Well the idea was jumped on before I could start establishing their maneuverings behind the scenes. Seems with the NEW TRA, the Hoffewalds would fit in pefectly. All they have to say to a House standing in their way is "You OWE us."
>>26260631/tg/ is not against pretty. They're against being forced to like someone. Despite being pretty and carrying (notice the scare quotes) "superior" genes, you aren't forced to like the TRA. In fact, a lot of the setting considers them snobs.
>>26260709No, I'm blatantly being obvious I even hate my own creation in how it turned out, but now the TRA is turning into exactly that.
>>26260722No, TRA isn't that until they are objectively right. The problem with the Hoffewald house was that they were right and just and true heroes. The TRA being suggested isn't any of that. They've just got designer genes.
>>26260742Ya, why I'm dropping them completely as they're turning into a wedge in development. That and I'm starting to like the MAT/MTI more. it has more potential for individuals to shine over a group. If anything.I'm viewing this more as a world-building project to study now more than anything as I have ambitions of my own.
Love-Born.My name is Julia, Julia-Van Houten… My full name is too long to write down, but if you find this codex recording by chance then let me be the first to tell you that I have taken my own life. For I am what is known as a love born, a child born naturally out of love yet my father... He was not of nobility but of Sidka. My mother and father were stranded during a cooperative mission that went awry… During that time they fell in love and shortly thereafter I was conceived, though I will never meet my father due to the fact he died over-exerting himself to let people know my mother was alive.Despite the protest’s of several people my mother kept the pregnancy and gave birth to me… For as long as I knew my mother was my only friend, my fellow family and classmates would beat me on sight to the point Even those of the lowest nobility tier have more rights than I, yet now I do not care about anything anymore. A life here surrounded by those who choose to shun that which makes us truly human for the sake of perfection.
>>26260777Time and time again I asked myself what is this perfection we seek? Superior strength, the MIT make augments that can let a child lift up a Schnider blade tank and throw it at least 400 meters, Intellect? Sidka has the largest library of knowledge next to the free city library, beauty? How can we call ourselves beautiful?? Our eyes glitter an unearthly light that scares children, charisma… The hound legion has charisma through their fellowship in battle. We children of the TRA cite ourselves noble, pure the true knights of old I say we are no different than the commoners some nobles swear to kill. What we are really doing is purging ourselves of what truly makes a human being. If we continue down this path of obsession with perfection we will incite an incident that will lead to nothing less than Armageddon… if we make six year olds obsess over war, what would happen when the new generation takes hold of true leadership?
>>26260709And now you're blaming others for how your house turn out, unbelivable. You were the one push for the idea of your little mary sue hurr durr heroic knight to be a punch of medical personal who dislike fighting, injecting noble bright as you said, just remove the fucking house.
>>26260785For the person who finds this recording… please, live your life to the best of your ability… Live, laugh, love, grow old… Have a family who loves you. For I have seen the truth of the TRA… It’s no flying castle it is our tomb.My name…was Julia Virgo Renee Van-Houten…Please Remember me.
>>26260792To be honest the evidence is only clear to me as I had notes on who they had leverage on, who they were marrying out their sons to, and who knew whose skeletons were in who's closets.But... I think it's better to drop it now.
Another of TRA's innovation was the introduction of what they call "instinctual skill." Just as a newborn knows to suckle at its mothers teat, the TRA attempted to imprint the skills of warfare on their soldiers at the genetic level. This experiment was not entirely successful. While the instinctual skill does reduce the amount of time needed to train a new cadet in the most rudimentary behaviors, advanced tactics and problem solving still elude the TRA. The instinctual skill program has some downsides however. Heightened aggression, anti-social tendencies, and a reduction in sound judgement are all known side effects of the program. Currently, about one third of the TRA has undergone instinctual skill imprinting in some form or another, but the project has been put on hold barring further refinements.
>>26260777>>26260785>>26260813Again I know my writing is bad but I felt that the arguments about the TRA Oddly gave me some inspiration for this piece. A different side of the TRA and before you guys asked how she died, she jumped off the flying pedestals and landed in the ocean.
>>26260813Dude... As somewhat bad as it is, It gave me feels, Stop writing... I don't want to feel more rain on my face. But in all honestly, this Does show a different side of the TRA
>>26260878I like it, good sir.
>>26260891I'm no English major but I try>>26260917Thank you very much, A part of me is thinking of working more on Julia... perhaps there maybe a future for her.
>>26260813A lovechild between a Noblewoman of the Van-Houtens, and a Sidka who sacrificed himself so that she and his unborn child may live only to experience the worst side of life.Sleep Well Julia, Daddy's waiting for you on the other side.
>>26260955Do I sense the MAT/MTI finding her broken body in the ocean, barely clinging to life? So they take her in and discover her menalcholy after plugging her into a prosthetic body and start wondering what to do?
>>26260997I don't know off hand what I may do if I decide Julia survives but what is known about her is that she was top score for using Remote drone type weaponry.Julia could have gone far but it was due to the fact that she was born of an illicit liason that she would never see any promotion besides possibly private.
>>26261030Yes, but as Julia 132... she will be amazing. Think about it. She leaves a message for the TRA before she attempts to kill herself and somehow learns among the MAT that the best revenge is to live well.
>>26260997So now after abandoning Hoffwald, you jump on the MAT and try to shove it in to everything like what you did with Hoffwald. Just stop posting.
>>26261053>>26260997Dude, don't taint this good bit of fluff.
>>26261063Unloke the Hoffewald, I have written how there are elements to the MAT/MTI that aren't nice, in fact are quite in fact evil.
Also, it's his idea... he was on the fence, was just playing advocate to one side.
>>26261086I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about you trying to shove MAT into another piece of work which is perfectly fine on its own. Not everything have to center around your idea, you tripfuck.
>>26261030By remote drone do you mean mobile remote drone or something else ala Bit/Funnel/Ether Rods?
>>26261097Well... anon it is. And no it doesn't it's their choice, not mine. I just thought it would be logical if he DID want the character to somehow survive, that cybernetic reconstruction was the best option.Which obviously means that the MTI/MAT would have to find her. How he wants to write the results... if he goes there... is up to him.
So here's the new Superiority based on what we've writtenSuperiorityAs a member of the Royal Academy, you are the product of extensive eugenics programs as well as genetic modification. You can push yourself well beyond the accepted norms of human ability. To gain the benefits of Superiority, you must dedicate an Aspect to represent your status within the Royal Academy and reduce your starting Refresh by 1. In exchange you gain two of the following Aspects:Superior BodySuperior GraceSuperior MindSuperior CharmWhen you choose to invoke these Aspects, you can add a +3 to a roll or reroll twice and pick the better result. Every time you invoke your Superiority Aspects, though, the DM gains a conditional Fate Point. The DM can use this Fate Point to compel any of your Aspects against you, for which you will not be refunded if you accept. You may decline this as normal.
>>26261146Have you ever heard of something call a character's death? Not everything have to end with rainbow and sunshine, why are you so intent making everything to your liking.
>>26260997Nah, leave her dead. It's better that way.
>>26261162Umm... there was this...>>26260955>Thank you very much, A part of me is thinking of working more on Julia... perhaps there maybe a future for her.I just suggested an out.Dead or alive, it's up to them.
>>26260813I am tempted to leave her dead though another part of me is screaming don't waste such a potential character and if I do revive her it will be through Sidka or the TRA NOT the other two factions.
>>26261159Alright, let's try to keep building with them based on this.
>>26261276Just keep in mind we're not writing a novel here.
>>26261100Also, by remote weaponry I mean using something akin to funnels. Her father was a combat type psychic potentially precognitive.
>>26261280Most of the TRA and their associated families have been engineered to have unnatural, striking coloration. This is intended to make them easily seen on the battlefield, and to act as a banner for the forces they are leading--especially the local militia or military which hired them. Those who use war machines usually lavishly decorate them in the same manner.
So I'm pretty happy with this version of the TRA. I think we can move on now.
>>26261493Hmm Fair enough, Who shall we work on now? Enemy factions, Sidka?? More nasty monsters, Perhaps even some city life
>>26261542More Sidika, maybe. It might be about time for enemy factions, though. Anybody have any thoughts?
>>26261574How about a group that hybridizes themselves with monsters?
>>26261574I say we focus on more the world it'self. What of the unexplored places, hell life in the city's that were documented... Speaking of ? Can someone update our maps??
>>26261752Well, a good chunk of it is supposed to be unexplored and stay that way. We got a couple of things about new places last thread, like Alsaive Peak. So some more short blurbs about exotic locations?
>>26261752So we should write more stuff like Please let me be your Valkyrie? Because apparently the world is advanced enough to have moe anime that infuriates the TRA
>>26261800That, as well as life in the city's that were already discussed and somewhat fluffed out, even working on something like a day in the life of a student from each mercenary school. We could also work on the economy, cosomology hell what about the other planets in the serastartes system. Did any of the 4 schools have some form of space monitoring.
>>26261752Put the new locations on the old map and I'll add it on.
>>26261309Well then... She's a rather powerful girl then.
>>26260813;-; the feels
>>26261877>space monitoringI assume that most of them are somewhat interested, save Hound Company. They only are interested in if something is in low enough orbit for their railgun to hit.
>>26261877>EconomyWhile every nation prints its own money, international travelers (including mercenaries) prefer to use the Varandi. The Varandi was the currency of the old empire and was coin-based. Each coin was created from a specific alloy by a special process, and values up to 10,000 exist. As none know the process by which the Varandi was made anymore, its relative rarity retained its value long after the empire disappeared and forms the baseline by which all other currency is compared.
>>26261877The Serataetes System has 14 Planets, some planets having twins. One of them being Seratastes itself
>>26262562Planet Seratartes Has 3 moons, while it's twin has 6, It's twin planet also has a Ring around the Equatorial region.
>>26262562>>26263231Well, I guess sooner or later there will be space travel to said twin
Can I get a life bump here
>>26263231One of Seratartes' three "moons" is actually its sister planet, known as Nachtheim. The orbits of Seratartes and Nachtheim are quite distant, making Nachtheim appear as a dark blue moon about half the size of the larger, greyish white moon Ilona. Ilona is colloquially referred to as "The Moon" as it is the appears to be the larger of the two objects and Nachtheim is typically obscured by its shadow when it is viewed from Seratartes. In many cultures across the globe, Nachtheim is thought of as the realm of the dead or the spirits. Nachtheim is estimated to be about 15% smaller than Seratartes, and appears to be mostly covered by ocean as well. Verdant landmasses have been observed, and some within the scientific community speculate that animal life may exist on Nachtheim. The other two moons, Rote-Augen and Tigerauge, also exist in the night sky, but appear more distant due to their small size. Rote-Augen is a small red moon, thought to be rich in iron. Tigerauge is a moon of roughly equal size, covered in sulfur clouds. Their orbit takes them behind Ilona and in front of Nachtheim. In relation to each other, Tigerauge is closer to Seratartes than Rote-Augen. Their orbits are slightly different, and on the rare occasion when Tigerauge travels in front of Rote-Augen, it is considered an especially inauspicious night
>>26263805We can't go there. Elves live there and there will be NO ELVES IN THIS SETTING
Old Wolf, inspired heavily from a picture from a random native american on the internet!
>>26265404Holy shit that's creepy
>>26264914There is also an unusual period in which the alignment of Nachtheim and it's moons seemingly align with Seratartes and such creating an unusual "Gravity tether" It is rumored that during this period creatures from the Nachtheim and it's moons could decend to Seratartes. It is also one of the many theory's of how Humans were placed on the planet.
Where's mah 1d4chan page?
>>26273437why does she have no pants?
>>26273617To better see her camel toe.
>>26273617Actually it's a skintight armor mesh. You can notice there isn't any visible anatomy and the stockings merge with the leg.
>>26273694>You can notice there isn't any visible anatomyAre we looking at the same picture? I can clearly see labia majora and the hint of a clitoral hood.
>>26273860Augmented for her pleasure.Considering how many parts of her may be cybernetics I wouldn't make any assumptions about what parts of her anatomy are flesh and what isn't.
Anybody want to work on MTI more?
This story ends with nine bodyguards dead and one left alive for interrogation with a sword to his throat. The last one will have secrets taken from his mind as he desperately tries not to think of the man he was hired to protect. The ninth and eighth will charge towards the commotion together wildly firing, they will hit nothing but air as the man charges them, always in just the right spot to not get hit.The seventh will put up a fight, his knives parrying the sword blows of his opponent as he attempts to find an opening. There will not be an opening, his head will be chopped off. The sixth, fifth, and fourth will not even have a moment to react as a grenade is thrown over their cover and lands in between them. The sixth one will take the longest to die, the man will put him out of his misery. The third and second will die as one. They will think they can flank the man and flush him out of cover. They will be wrong, the man will be expecting them, they will die gurgling with thrown knives sticking out of their throats. The first will die silently, he will not even notice the man dropping on him from above. Issac Shepherd of Sidika's Foundation for the Gifted has just snuck into Victor Osborne's personal residence with a mission to find where he has gone and kill him. Issac already knew how it all was going to end.

>>26273262Everybody is too lazy to make the wiki page.
I guess if nobody else is up to making the page, I will take some time off mechanics work to do so. I have not done something like this in forever, so it'll take me a bit.
>>26283854http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Setting:MercWorld-SeratartesStarting to get the basics up
>>26285560We should probably get to filling that in later
>>26285560Awesome. Some stuff you can use for World. Will need refinement.Seratartes is a dangerous world full of squabbling nations, corporations, and citystates with only a tenuous peace and memories of the destruction from the previous wars keeping them from outright war. Outside these places that mankind has wrested from the grasp of nature there lies the untamed wilderness, while home to wondrous sights and valuable materials it is also home to all sorts of fantastical, strange, and incredibly dangerous beasts and monsters. To fulfill the ever present need for soldiers children are raised within mercenary schools to provide elite troops and specialized services, and there is no lack of tasks to take care of. Jobs range from the hunting of monsters, the protection of trade routes and expeditions into untamed lands, retrieving goods, defending towns from bandits, and acting as bodyguards, to assassination, sabotage of nations and corporations, border skirmishes, and supporting coups, just to name a few of the things a mercenary may be called upon for. There are gleaming cities that shine like the gems they mine from within the earth, great fortresses that blot out the sun as they travel through the sky, industrial towns pumping out thick smoke and reliable weaponry, oases in barren lands calling for travellers, villages built within massive trees far above the ground. Frozen tundras where the reflection of the sun off of the pristine white snow blinds any who gaze upon it, deserts of shimmering glass of all colors, wild jungles where the survival of the fittest is the only rule, great black craggy mountains separating two nations, beautiful paradises infested by creatures anathema to human life, lands where the flow of lava has wiped out all life, and some few ocean depths hold great beasts that ought never be awoken. It is a world of death, war, and for those brave, talented, or just plain lucky enough it is a world of heroism and great deeds.
Once, the noble houses of the TRA numbered in the hundreds, but through attrition, absorption, banishment, and intermarriages, they have whittled themselves down to the 7 Regent Houses and their servants. This would not nearly be enough to field armies, and so the TRA instituted the Homunculus or Tube-Born program. Under this program, only a single line of descent from the founder would be allowed to procreate normally. All others are produced in artificial wombs, either from preserved genetic data or spun whole-cloth. These Homunculi are lower in status than True Bloods, but are otherwise afforded every privilege of their station.Homunculi are roughly equal in capability to their conventionally born brethren, and make up the vast majority of the TRA's standing forces. Homunculi are engineered to have muted coloration in contrast to the striking and vivid trueborn in order to make them immediately distinguishable. Hair and eye colors are typically shades of black, grey, or a dull white, and their skin tone is universally pale. Homunculi who continually distinguish themselves in battle are offered the opportunity to undergo gene therapy to add special colors to their eye or hair. These unnatural, metallic tones are granted depending on the level of their service and heroism. Silver is granted to those who have performed with remarkable valor, and gold is awarded to those who have gone beyond the call of duty and brought tremendous honor to their house.
>>26286259Silver and gold is too close to real hair colors. Make it purple and blue.
>>26286068Added for now
What have we in regards to the occult faction?
>>26287755They seem to be the most neglected, going by what I've read so far.
>>26287755>>26291641We've got some solid stuff on them so far, let me summarize. They live on a drifting island, surrounded by a hurricane barrier created by psychics. Their actual academy is built in a hollowed out volcano in the center of that island. Their main method of recruitment is kidnapping and mind-wiping everyone close to the prospective student and the student themselves. They train students in a mentor-pupil relationship in groups of 1 instructor to about a dozen or so each. There are 88 instructors, each based off one of the constellations in the sky. The 13 signs of the Zodiac have special privileges. Training comes in two methods, the Void or Tempest philosophies. The Void method destroys someone's self-identity and rebuilds it into something subdued and repressed, freeing one's psychic powers from the emotions that keep it tied down. The Tempest method rebuilds students into highly aggressive and possessive individuals, feeding off their emotions to power psychic abilities. Sidika Foundation prefers to work with other Mercs instead of against them. Students who can't master their talents are subjected to harsh, sometimes life-threatening exercises to bring out their power.
For those of you not doing anything at the moment, you should add to the wiki page.
Anyone else think this would be a great setting for a skirmish tabletop wargame, something like Infinity?
>>26293120mite b cool, but rpg form first.
Bumping to put on page-0
>>26292291bumping for more
>>26297257That was just a summary mate. There's more spread out through the threads. How about reading some and helping to expand? Not being sarcastic, it would be nice to get a few extra hands.
>>26292291>There are 88 instructors, each based off one of the constellations in the sky.we saint seiya now
>>26298640.... Yes, fucking YESOne of the many nicknames for the Sidka Adminstratum is Athenus, or the council of Owls Eyes.
>>26292291The Instructor Code Named Phoenix is one of the more curler and harsher teachers, as he combines some bits of the void and tempest schools.Opting to take some personality destroying bits from Void and the violent rebuilding Methods from the Tempest paradigm. Those who succeed are powerful combat psychics but very very on edge, loose canons and possibly on the brink.
>>26298640We need to go this route, WE MUST
>>26298640Students That are taught under Andromeda have moderate combat skills but are the best at dowsing and search operations.
>>26298640So each Instructor has a specially crafted Foci/body armor based on their respective Zodiac
>>26300021Go with the focus, not the body armor.
>>26300021So how would we do this... the Foci I mean?
>>26298640We need more fluff for the instructors...
>>26300382Two methods.1. Take an Aspect representing your focus. It can be invoked to aid psionics rolls.2. Take a piece of equipment with a similar Aspect attached. It works in the same way but doesn't eat up one of your Aspect slots. Unlike the pure Aspect version, it can be lost.
>>26298640The Island is separated into various Zones, each one overseen by an different instructor, Each one of the Instructor's Foci takes the shape of some portion of the constellation that their code name is drawn from. For Example, The chains from Andromeda, A pair of burning wings for Phoenix,Scales for Libra and so on.
>>26300606Keep in mind that all 13 of the Epliptic zodiac's foci MUST be golden, for fluff reasons the founder of Sidka forged them herself. A tiny microcosm of her psychic might ls within said foci.Crunch wise, possibly a +3 to 6 boost for all psychic related test's.
>>26300699Try +2. That's a 50% boost at minimum to the psychic roll.
>>26300789I threw that number out there due to me not knowing enough of Fate but that works since you tredge the no-man's land few brave /tg/anons dare go through.
>>26300789All other foci's get a +1 then? Well I know some of them will be fluffed out so that crunch wise they need the +2
>>26300900In general, Aspects give you a +2 bonus. It might be that the advanced Foci have other applications, like boosting rolls besides psychic powers
>>26301269Yep, things like Sagittarius's bow or Aquarius's vessel.
>>2630129588 fucking psychic foci... Dear god.
>>26301667We don't need to, and really shouldn't, fluff them all. A few is fine.
>>26301685Here is what I vote to be fluffed besides the obvious 13Phoenix,Andromeda,Draco,Cygnus,Pegasus, Lionet,Aquila,Orion,Lupus
>>26301735Hmm, it'll be hard to separate Orion from Sagittarius as bows are the obvious answer for both of them.Lupus could have a fucking huge wolf pelt, make it part of their outfit.Aries, a drinking horn that he/she keeps on their person at all times.Gemeni, in exception to the rest of the school, is presided over by a pair of twins and is where any twins picked up are sent, making there be actually 89 teachers, but given that that they look alike and maintain constant telepathic contact they act much like a single entity that can be in two places at once. Their foci would be some medallion or necklace of which each only has one half of the whole. For Cancer maybe some sort of shield or set of armor.Virgo's foci would probably have some connection with fertility/agriculture. Not sure exactly what though.Libra is obviously a pair of scales. For Scorpius some sort of poisoned dagger perhaps.Capricorn, something to do with the water or the sea, same with Pisces, not sure what exactly to do though.
>>26301987Orion has a Sword or his belt...
>>26301987Gemini and Pisces could be the only one where identical twins can be accepted Or for Pisces I was thinking Oceanic themed Foci like the fish spirits from Avatar.
Would it be okay to have "house disciplines" based on the Zodiac the person belongs to?
>>26302450It would mean more things to potentially commit skills to, so it's not going to make you overpowered if you want to write some (unless the skill is OP).
>>26302450Hmmm That'll be alot of disciplines... or are you focusing on the base 13
The house of Arete: Leading councils presiding each one of the twelve zodiac divisions it is home to some of the most skilled minds of the Zodiac. Admission criteria vary from division to division, but generally skill trumps age, leading to a rather interesting distribution of ages within them. Students who are particularly ambitious try to gain admission to their divisions HoA while still in training in order to (technically) outrank their teachers while still in training.>>26302856Only base 12 was what I was thinking.>>26302497Idea was more like "shit that gets beaten into you by your division", not "shit that allows you to rape everyone".
>>26302949There's no problem if you want to do it that way. I would probably look into making Stunts for each Astrological sign instead. All focusing on some use of psionics of course.
>>26302981So less pure MIND WIZHURDS and more Jedi skills?
>>26302949>Students who are particularly ambitious try to gain admission to their divisions HoA while still in training in order to (technically) outrank their teachers while still in training.Sounds like a good way to get yourself killed.House of Arete, I like the sound of that.
>>26303014Yes, both. They have a wide spread of psionic abilities and specialties. Some of them have elemental control, others know what you're going to do a second before you do.
>>26303052The Phoenix Trained warriors now entered jesus christ how horrifying. Those whore are saint seiya fans know what i'm talking bout
>>26303026Maybe the competition is intentional to filter out the weak or overly ambitious.
Abilities are divided in internal and external as well as Matter, Mind and Astral.Internal skills are passive, focused on self and receivingExternal skills are active, focused on others and giving Matter deals with the physical Universe as measurable by conventional science. Favoured by the Tempest school.Mind deals with the mental Universe, thoughts, ideas and perceptions. Favoured by both schools.Astral deals with the unknowable Universe beyond, only accessible to the initiated. Favoured by the Void school.Example skills:Telekinsis: Matter, External.Suggestion: Mind, External.Mind reading: Mind, Internal.Precognition: Astral, Internal.Teleportation: Astral, External Phasing: Matter, External.Augmented Physique: Matter, Internal.Ilusion: Mind, External.>>26303052Alright, that sounds pretty cool. The wiki page mentions "cinematic" as a design guideline, so "cool" trumps "exceedingly powerful", I presume?>>26303134>>26303026Yea, that was the idea behind the concept. You can get in by performing extremely well at tests and missions, discovering something new or saving a mission from utter failure by rescuing your comrades. Of course, be too much of a dick or simply foolish and you might end up in really hot waters really fast.
>>26304544Actually, we already defined the Psionic Disciplines.TelekinesisTelekinesis is the ability to manipulate distant objects with your mind. It is the most straightforward Psionic Skill, with most of its uses being readily obvious.TelepathyTelepathy is the ability to read the thoughts and emotions of other living creatures. When most people talk about Psychics, they are referring to this Skill.PsychometryPsychometry is the ability to gather information from objects based on the psychic residue left on it by living beings. The information gathered from Psychometry is often fragmented or incomplete, but would have been otherwise impossible to obtain.PrecognitionPrecognition is the ability to see possible futures before they happen, allowing the user to act and either hasten or attempt to avert them.PsychodynamicsPsychodynamics is the power to create and harness primal energies with one’s mind. Psychodynamics is actually a wide variety of similar disciplines, each controlling a different fundamental force. When selecting this Psionic Skill, you must choose what kind of energy, or lack thereof, you are harnessing. Things such as fire, electricity, cold, and water are all acceptable disciplines in Psychodynamics.
>>26304587>>26304544Hex's system is more modular and allows for more different powers. Too bad he came in too late.
>>26304587Aah, alright.Guess I'll just type up something for Virgo now.
>>26304613It would also require the creation of 8 different Skills, some of which would completely eclipse related skills in the main skill list instead of supplementing them. Also, it is FATE. There's no need to be that granular with the powers. For example, Suggestion and Mind Reading are both things you an do with Telepathy.
>>26304646Could one heal via TK if experienced enough, or is that too much?
Why did this project slow down so much?
>>26304662Not really, though you can attempt to use it to aid a regular check to perform First Aid, like pulling out fragments of a bullet or putting pressure on a wound. No psychic power will make you sprout extra flesh.
>>26304666Arguments and writer burnout... Such things happen
>>26304666People left, and the only newcomer is not yet fully caught up.
>>26304666I've been busier over the last couple days as I was when we started out.
>>26304666We've also hit something of a critical mass now. We've got enough to start solidifying and revising things.
>>26304662>>26304613I wouldn't really like it if the Psychics got Wolverine powers.
>>26304869What he said, The sooner we revise and refine things the better.>>26304544Hrmmm, Some of these seem ok, the others possibly a bit OP.>>26298640Oh yes we very saint seiya now>>26299582Hah, I like it. All Sidka Adminstrators have a violet cape with golden owl eyes on it.
Why would Sidika use regular Earth names for constellations? It's a completely different planet with 4 moons, etc. Probably has a competely different constellation pattern in the sky as well. Makes more sense if we invent custom constellations, like in the Elder Scrolls games.
>>26306185Do you have any idea how much work that would be? For that matter, why would they use European names? This is all just convenience
>>26306239I agree with this kind anon also, going to archive the thread.
