>Previous quests can be found at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Sky+Sons>I'll post reminders, updates, and apologies at https://twitter.com/RingSpeakerThe time has come to lead the noble Sky Sons into legend and glory, friends. Gather around the speaking stone, and show us the wisdom that will make our tribe into kings of Dragon Pass. It's only by your might and your leadership that we will succeed against enemy tribes, evil monsters, and the very land itself. Come, and see the tale unfold before you of the Sky Sons!>What is King of Dragon's Pass, you weird person?King of Dragon's Pass is a PC game from 2000. In King of Dragon's Pass, or KoDP, you play as a single tribe of celt/nordic bronze age warriors as they settle, colonize, tame, and eventually dominate a foreign land. In this version of /tg/ Plays, I'll run the game for you all, and I'll carry out the actions that you tell me to in the game, then report back with the results. You can be a part of the complete victory or tragic defeat of a tribe made by /tg/ itself, the Sky Sons!
When we last left the Sky Sons, things were in somewhat poor shape. Despite having Humakt's favor in the form of the Truesword blessing, they had taken a few defeats from their hated foes and others out in Dragon Pass. And now, upon us, is Earth Season, the time of harvesting the grains that will feed us through the coming cold.Raiding during this time is folly, so we are safe from retaliation now. The question now is: what should we do with the time before us? We have magic given to Heroquests, and some wish to continue to venerate the God of Death by retelling his story. Our coffers are thin and our knowledge of the lands around us poor as well; much needs to be done to restore the Sky Sons to the glory that they deserve.
We must explore our own during earth, and preform our quest during the Dark.Or, if we have excesses or favors owed to us we can commit to attempting to form more trade.Ultimately we must cease to be short sighted and stop over-focusing on raiding. We have hardly even begun our clan, we can't commit to total warfare until we build our markets, build our fortifications, and learn the plowsong ritual, rituals of healing, and rituals of the sun, earth, and rain in order to allow our farmers to grow bountiful amounts of food even with injuries.Military strength comes from long term economic strength, anyone who disagrees is a fool.
>>26195036Explore our Tula.Next year we must set up trade routes.
>>26195223A successful raid can provide many goods and cows, giving us something to sacrifice, trade and build our fortifications with.
>>26195036Send a group of explorers to the Quivin mountains.
>>26195223>>26195271>>26195348The success enjoyed by Ernaldess last season encourages a few more warriors to travel with her around the tula. She's prepared to do more study and investigation, with your blessing.Favors to us are few and far between; only the Blackrocks, Oak Trees, and Ogosi are in our debt. We owe favors to thrice as many tribes over. I also fear because of the omens given to us this year; next year, with fruitful magic, trade and diplomacy may yet flourish.
>>26195299We are nowhere near strong enough to preform a hostage raid, and doing so is a short term boost. Raiding endlessly for supplies is not sustainable in of itself. Injuries catch up and eventually we will starve.Once we get a good agricultural base it becomes possible, and once we get ourselves a market by creating trade routes, we will passively gain trade goods in addition to whatever we take, allowing us to war with much better results, for we will not depend utterly and totally on having multiple raids launched each year. Also having a raid based economy hurts our magic terribly and some of our gods actively wish us to have periods of peace.
>>26195368Explore the the Quivin Mountains. We settle in the Quivini plains and yet have ignored its namesake.
>>26195373And some gods wish for us to remember our war arts and our war magic will suffer if we launch none. Do we not now know the Truesword Blessing? Are we not planning to reenact the ways of Grim Humakt himself come Dark?We are a clan of balance, not peace and violence is always an option.
>>26195424Our own Tula is much more important.
>>26195424Tread carefully; Ernaldess has come across the lair of a large wyrm nesting up in the mountains. Kenstrel seems particularly convinced that he can make friends with the gargantuan beast and ferret out some of its treasure, while others which to slay the monster and take what it has. Our lorekeepers say neither action will offend our ancestors, since they were indifferent towards dragonkind. What should they do, leaders?
>>26195467No one is saying violence is never an option you stupid stickpicker. This ring has launched a raid every chance they had in the past. We have fought more than most war clans and we WILL die off if we do not stop. So cease advocating for yet ANOTHER raid, we absolutely can't sustain it.
>>26195516How do we feel about dragons again?
>>26195516Befriend the SHIT out of that dragon.
>>26195516Have Kenstrel steal the treasure.
>>26195555>>26195562Have Kenstrel steal the treasure AND befriend the shit out of it!
>>26195516Kenstrel's got this shit.
>>26195474>>26195519>>26195535Yeah, my bad. I'll reload the save if people want me to; otherwise we can just say Ernaldess mistook her directions.>>26195555Our ancestors had no love for nor hatred for them. They care not for our relations with dragons.
>>26195516Its FRIENDSHIP TIME, MOTHERFUCKERS.
>>26195588Or our graybeards spent so long making a choice that by the time they were done, it had already been made for them.
>>26195516Sure, let's do what Kenstrel says. What could go wrong?>Trickster you are my greatest ally
>>26195516It seems like people are more interested in answering events than they are in making seasonal choices.
>>26195559>>26195562>>26195579>>26195585>>26195595>>26195612Euramal and his followers are always unpredictable in their ways. Perhaps this creature now enjoys its newfound knowledge of how to swindle Orlanthi of their silver, but it doesn't see it necessary to repay us for the gifts given to it.
>>26195651NICE ONE KENSTREL YOU FUCKING SHIT STICKER
>>26195649Meeting a wyrm is a very rare occasion, while Earth Season rolls around every year. How can I begrudge the clan for being excited over novel events?
>>26195651GOD DAMN FUCKING TRICKSTERS
>>26195651Dammit Euramal, what the fuck do we keep your dude on the Ring for if he can't even pull off basic shit like this.Srsly bro, srsly.
>>26195651>>26195651God damn it Kenstrel, why can't you be more like Orlaront?
>>26195651>Implying he didn't just steal the goods for himself
It is his job to make our life interesting and looking for new ways to do things.
>>26195651While Kenstrel is showing scalekin the arts of dice, our farmers worked the fields and harvested their bounties. Though they pulled in an expected amount of grain, it seems the magic we gave the lands in Sacred Time did little. Perhaps we should venerate the gods of earth, sky, and rain more? Elmal, as always, blesses us.
>>26195651I'm not even mad, I'm impressed.
>>26195724You know what would make our lives more interesting? A huge pile of Dragon Treasure.
>>26195742It is now Dark season? We heroquest in the second part, but how should we spend the first?Do we have any members of Issaries in our clan?
>>26195742Elmal's blessings are hard to feel in the Dark Season, though, especially when our ancestral foes batter our lands with cold and ice.Is it time for a mortal to enter the Godplane, and undertake a hero quest? Or do mortal concerns demand more attention for now?
>>26195795Heroquests always end the season, so always do them as the second action.
>>26195742Not only has the godess of peace started to turn her back on us, I am sure the god of balance is as well...As I have been repeatedly saying, we must cease to endlessly war or we will all surely die.>>26195795Dare you imply the concerns of the gods are not the most important concerns for mortals?Once it is Dark, we should search for a legendary item on the godplane. Artefacts and relics provide us true long term blessings of the gods.
>>26195742Perhaps with the Wyrm intelligent we could lure it with employment?
>>26195830Em-Ploy-mant?What is that? Are you saying we should try to take the Wyrm as a Thrall? A bad idea..Are you saying we should adopt him? Even worse!
>>26195787Valensta is our most renowned god-talker of Issaries. In matters of trade and bargaining, we look to her; when our neighbors wish to trade silver for cows, she is the one who does the speaking.>>26195787>>26195820>>26195828So once some matters are dealt with in the mortal realm, we will venture to the lands of the gods. What should we do in the meantime, fellows?
>>26195795Ought we build a shrine to Humakt to maintain the Truesword blessing?
>>26195873And what of Lhankor Mhy?
>>26195855Surely if it can swindle us of our silver, it could be swayed to swindle others of theirs. All it needs is an ambassador, otherwise all it will face is steel.
>>26195873Why do we have three warriors on our ring instead of a follower of Issaries and Chalanna arroy?
>>26195884This has already been done.>>26195895Kulbrast is our map-keeper, knowledge-seeker, and worshiper of Lhankor Mhy upon the council ring.
>>26195903Why not just murder it and take back the treasure it won and its treasure as well?
>>26195919>This has already been done.Oh. I'm genius!
>>26195905This is how the ring was formed immediately after Sacred Time when we settled here in Dragon Pass. If we wish, we could restructure the ring away from war and more towards less martial concerns.
>>26195873Should we allow Issaries representation on the ring, to empower our Trade magic next year?
>>26195919I wanted to see what our Custom rating was. He may not be as good as other god talkers, which may explain why people fucking hate us. Besides idiots in this thread screaming raid every raiding season that is.
>>26195921And take risks that endanger our lives?
>>26195942His Custom is Excellent. The reason that people hate the Sky Sons is that we started off on Medium difficulty.
>>26195941If it is desired, it shall be done. Both Voskandora and Fantarl have spoken of wishing to return to the field in order to whet their blades on Vostangi blood once more. Fantarl speaks well to the gods, while some of dickering; otherwise they fight and lead as well as the other.
>>26196023that should say "while Voskandor knows some of dickering;" My bad.
>>26196023Are... are you implying members of the Ring do not fight? Worst ring ever.
>>26195942No one says to raid every season, just Fire and sometimes Storm.
>>26196051They do not get the opportunity to fight nearly as much as they wish, when they instead must listen to the complaints of our neighbors and dither on how to plant grain. We could promote Valensta to the ring in this season before venturing to the Godplane, then see what Storm Season has in store for us. Does the council like these actions, or are there other things desired more?
>>26196079So they are saying to raid every raiding season.Stickpickers.Raiding every fire and on many storms is literally the quickest way to fuck yourself, even as a full war tribe. Doing so before even getting the basics set up is worse. We should seriously ignore those people.
>>26196091Yes, on with it Speaker.
>>26196091This promotion should send an appropriate signal to those people in the tribe who would see us destroyed by contant raiding.
>>26196166>>26196182Valensta is excited to hear the news; she grumbled something about "Should've been there from the start," but otherwise, she now sits on the council ring as an equal. Issaries is pleased. However, less pleased are a band of trollkin bearing down on the tula! We're outnumbered, even with the might of our Truesword-bearing thanes, and have no magic to call upon to blast them away. How will we defend our lands against these monsters?
>>26196220I told you to increase the Patrols, but noooo...Now our most vile and hated of foes is upon us!
>>26196220I think we all know the best tactical move here from our last few raids. Especially because these are trolls and are not going to be deterred by death and are nearly impossible to take captive.>>26196239We lack very many hunters, our weaponthanes are in despair, and we lack real defensive structures or friendly neighbors. We will NOT be seeing most of our enemies coming until we change all of these things.
>>26196239Complaints won't slay a single troll, so let's hear ideas, oh wise one.
>>26196239Our patrols were increased, but our thanes are extremely pessimistic; our warring has not gone well, and they feel it the most.>>26196257>>26196274The fight is disorganized and seething, just as you would expect to see when battling Chaos itself. Though Ernaldess has the chance to perhaps turn the tide; what should she do?
>>26196293And of course, I forget the file. My bad.
>>26196320It is good to be brave!
>>26196320FORTUNE FAVORS THE BOLD
>>26196320Bravery should best inspire our weaponthanes in their dark times.
>>26196338>>26196348>>26196367You would have sworn she was a Storm Bull, the way she fights. Both Urox and Elmal were venerated this day.
>>26196381Our ancestors will be proud.
>>26196381we berzerker now
>>26196381Despite the bravery and might of singular warriors, the trolls dealt us painful injury. Much more of our dead litter the battlefield than theirs, and they took riches we can ill afford to lose. Another blow to the confidence of our warriors.
>>26196381Our wrath is righteous
>>26196417Though in the depths of cold and ice, the spirit of our clan is strong. Strong enough, perhaps, to venture into the Godplane and step into the boots of those we venerate. The council ring's very own Fantarl stands ready to undertake the tale of Humakt the Champion, or one of our brighter mages, Korlaman, could recreate the defense of the homestead that our patron god, Elmal, performed. Which quest should we undertake, fellows? Also, 100th screenshot, yaaaay!
>>26196417Clearly, we need to improve our defences. How can we even dream of raiding if our foes can walk straight into our homesteads.
>>26196471Send our Humakti to gain a treasure for us.
>>26196471What benefits do these quests give, respectively?
>>26196505We can chose. Sometimes you might wish to quest to gain temporary defense against an ancient enemy. You may also quest to ward off bad omens, or in response to events in the world. Some quests make things much easier to do that year. The most powerful rewards from a quest are ones that grant us relics, followed by ones that empower the taker of the quest, for they last forever. A strong stockpile of relics is what makes a clan mighty and worthy, for they are the true measure of our power. However, if many of the clan are sick, it would be foolish to quest for relics rather than to quest to have all our ill healed at once for instance.
>>26196505By showing deference to Elmal, we could strengthen our defenses, gain horses, strengthen either Korlaman or all our nobles, protect us against chaos, or give confidence to our thanes.Or by walking Humakt's path, we could gain powerful tools of war, defend against the walking dead, inspire our warriors, or strengthen Fantarl.
>>26196557And all quests have a secondary effect. For instance, for three years after doing the Humakt Heroquest, five of our warriors will fight with the strength of Six.
>>26196557In that case, Elmal's quest would seem the most logical, we need more defences against invaders.
>>26196598Completing both Elmal's quest and Humakt's quest will make our warriors more powerful in battle afterwards, though our quester will try to receive something specific while in the Godplane. That is what differs between the quests.>>26196493>>26196598So we are split; Unless I receive more votes soon, I will let chance decide.
>>26196557Aren't our thanes feeling pretty down on their luck?
>>26196643It is dark season; We should quest to Humakt for a treasure.
>>26196662They are, and questing can improve their mood. However, the entire clan's morale will improve if we complete a hero quest.
>>26196493>>26196678Humakt has shown us his favor this year, by giving us the Truesword ritual and sending his faithful to us. Fantarl will venture into the godplane and attempt to emulate the God of Death's quest to tame the sword Death itself. Also, our allies, the Wolves, decided not to aid us in this endeavor, for reasons only they know. Before Fantarl makes his way to the realm of the gods, he must decide: what does he hope to take with him from this quest?
>>26196812We should seek a treasure from the Godsplane.
>>26196822>>26196833Despite the magic we granted to questing last Sacred Time, our Humakti was not able to enter the place of the gods. Many are quick to blame the Wolves, our so-called 'allies' who mock us at market and adopt our treacherous nobles, for not sending us aid when we asked them. It seems that, for now, we must find mortal solutions to our problems.
>>26196930Clearly, the gods do not favour us greatly. The Sky Sons will need to prove their worthiness in the coming seasons.
>>26196930And our problems, as it turns out, are many. Our thanes have had their last straw taken, and voice their complaints and concerns about how they're treated to the council ring. It's true that our raiding has gone poorly, as has our defense of the tula. What should we do to address the complaints of those who defend and fight for us?
>>26196930frigging Wolves, what bums
>>26196930Truly we are a Cursed People
>>26196982We have much food, throw a feast.
>>26196982A feast should soothe them for now.
>>26197007>>26197041>>26197047Dark Season is the traditional time for feasting, after all, what with the crops of Earth sitting in the larders. How many cows will we give up to satisfy our thanes?
>>26197094A cow feast? Fuck, I thought it was just a food feast. We're hurting for cows as is, the greedy fucks.
>>26197094>Lose 5 battles in a row>Demand a feast>Weaponthanelogic
>>26197094Whatever is the smallest amount we dare.
>>26197192The point of it is to show that we truly respect our warriors, and are thankful for the defenses and losses they suffer. A gift of cows (indirectly) is a powerful way to do so.
>>26197200>>26197205Several fine fat heifers are slaughtered for the feast, which the thanes do seem to enjoy, at the very least. Others grumble that we're bending to the demands of our warriors, but most agree that they needed this.
>>26197252Nothing else of importance occurs between the feast for the thanes and the beginning of Storm Season. Chill winds and snow still swipe across the lands, but Orlanthi can now leave their homes. What shall we do in this time? Some wish to recruit more thanes, since the trolls took many and left us with only a dozen. There is still a tula to explore, and trade to be had with our neighbors, especially if we desire more cows and goods. Ultimately, the decision is yours.
>>26197299Valensta speaks with wisdom. The Sky Sons need to improve their material fortunes, to build a solid foundation to future success.
>>26197416Which Tribe should we attempt to set up a trade route with? The Wolves are allies (or at least, so they claim), and the Beaker Ducks are friendly towards us. Other clans owe us favors that could become trade as well; namely, the Blackrocks, Oak Trees, and Osgosi.
>>26197416>here here, need more dollas
>>26197498maybe oak trees? they're close by so the party wouldnt take forever to get there
Perhaps beker ducks, in case it could strengthen our ties for us to eventually gain another ally.
>>26197498Trade with allies first. We shouldn't trade with the ducks. Even if they are friendly they are not one of us.>>26197416I HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR SEASONS!
>>26197498Trade with the Wolf clan. After that, hit up the ducks.
>>26197511>>26197552>>26197563Valensta sets out to the Wolves in order to test their allegiance to us. There are rumblings within the clan saying if they refuse us once more, they're not to be trusted further. However, our troubles are not yet over. Despite their improved mood, the weaponthanes have been struck with some sort of malady that makes training and practice impossible. How should we free our warriors of this plague?
>>26197682God damn it, its those fucking Vostangi
>>26197563>>26197682This is a bad year for trade and we devoted no magic to it. I will not be surprised if it fails.
>>26197682The gods have not given us their favour lately, clearly to strengthen our resolve and make us think by ourselves instead of relying on divine intervention on every turn. Send for the shamans.
>>26197682Sacrifice to Chalanna Arroy.
>>26197498This is exactly what divination is for.
>>26197706>>26197732>>26197784>>26197804It seems there is little consensus amongst the ring. I'll remind our leaders that we have no magic at the moment, so divination will be difficult. We can attempt it, but I doubt there will be much to learn.
Glad to see that KoDP is getting some love here. You should feel good about yourself, OP.
>>26197904With no magic the gods will not be generous. Shaman perhaps will be better.
>>26197908Thanks, bro. I just hope I can be entertaining while running this for you all.
>>26197804Divination? Pffhah! Only perhaps if we can use your entrails for it.
>>26197804We need no divination, this is obviously the work of the hated Vostangi!
>>26197988>>26198035>>26198065Without much divine favor to call upon, the clan forgoes a divination and instead asks shamans to remove this malady from our people. They demand some cows (which Arene manages to actually bargain down this time), and our warriors are cured. The shamans claim that this plague was the doing of malevolent ghosts, but many still wish to blame the Vostangs for it.
>>26198100However, some time lasts between now and Sacred Time. We're now sorely lacking for Thanes, though our markets have brought us some goods. Valensta has not yet returned from Wolf Clan; hopefully she can do so before Sacred Time, so Issaries will lend us his favor. What should we do until the rebirth once more of the earth?
>>26198035Are... are you mocking our ancestors? Can we banish this fuck? I am pretty sure the reason our magic is so weak is because we have an atheist in our midst. That or he is actually advocating for dark and unholy magic...>>26198065I doubt the Vostangi would do something so unspeakable to just spite us. It would shame them to the gods.
>>26198142Our lack of weaponthanes is a problem. If those trolls come again they'll slaughter us all.
>>26198214We must promote some promising Carls and search for promising weaponthanes, but we must not offer too many gifts so as to not anger our old weaponthanes.
The general mood of the Sky Sons is something of a worry too...
>>26198142Indeed. Truesword helps, but with 8 weaponthanes we are asking for trouble.
And 4chan says my original screenshot contained an embedded file... what the hell.>>26198214>>26198241>>26198411Four more warriors step up to fight on behalf of the Sky Sons, bringing our total up to 13......until the body of Olkensor Bronzebones, the thane we adopted last year, is found in a creek. We now only have a dozen warriors on-hand to defend us, but more pressing is the matter of this apparent Secret Murder. Many are swift to blame the Vostangi, especially the Storm Bull who thundered into our tula crying for his blood. What should we do about the warrior who fought so valiantly for us?
>>26198502We must first mourn, and make offerings in his honor. Then we can consider revenge.
>>26198502Shit, and I thought the guy who went on and on about the Vostangi was paranoid. Let us honour his bravery with sacrifice, but the murderers must pay for this too...
>>26198502Seek his killer in the Vostangi clan.
>>26198502Truly we are a cursed people.
>>26198543>>26198631Many members of the clan turn out to mourn Olkensor; he did not deserve such an ignoble death, all agree, and his passing is yet another black mark between us and the Vostangs. Perhaps come next Fire Season, we will raid them and take our revenge, but for now, we will celebrate the proud warrior that was taken from us so soon. How much do we want to spend in honor of our fallen comrade?
>>26198502Seek the killer in the Vostang clan.
>>26198668That would be the Vostangi, they are cursed with foul cowards who would resort to murder.
>>26198734Then why do we not seek them out? They should be paying this price, not us!
>>26198725The sacrifices are made, and Elmal accepts Olkensor into his stead. All agree that we honored his name, and while we did not know him long, he was as much a Sky Son as any other member of the clan.Valensta thankfully returns before Sacred Time as well, with the warriors we sent with her. Now our tula should be safe from raids, everyone hopes. The omens held true here as well, and she could not establish a trade route with our "allies" in Wolf Clan, but she does bring back some of their silver.
>>26198900It's hard to look back on this year with fondness. Much sorrow and loss was inflicted upon us, and beyond a few gifts from Humakt, our efforts were often wasted. All pray for better signs in the coming year, and that with the dawn of new time, the luck of the clan will change.
>>26198940106 less cattle, that is disgusting.
>>26198940The sun shines down upon the our tula, warming it as we spend magic into the reawakening world. We aren't blessed with a lot to spend, but what we do, we hope brings us good fortune this year. We're not cursed this year, like the last, but instead, we're challenged by Orlanth and Issaries: it seems they want us to increase the size of our herd. It is a bit thin, what with the sacrifices we've made lately. If we can accumulate more cows this year, they will offer us blessings; if we lose too many, they will curse us.So, fellow god-talkers, how much magic should we keep in reserve before we spend it all away? A bit here or there in case of raids is always wise. Once we've decided how much we want to keep, we'll decide how much to spend in other places.
>>26199027Let's hope we don't have another year like the last one.War, herds, quests?
>>26199054We should allocate to trade and diplomacy. We have had our fill of war and our crop magic is suffering greatly from our overdependence on it.
>>26199081Even if we have had our fill of war, our enemies likely have not. Thus it is prudent to invest in war regardless, especially in our weakened state.
war, herds, diplomacy, trade
>>26199054>>26199081>>26199122>>26199151If there are no objections, this is how our magic will be spent.
>>26199200Works for me.
>>26199200No for quests. Switch to trade.
>>26199200The lack of crops grates, but alas we do not have the magic for it.Perhaps if we are successful in our heroquest this year, we will have spare magic.
>>26199305We just attempted to quest, our chances are even worse than the year when the gods just said "No way"
>>26199200No for quests, go for crops instead.
>>26199353It doesn't count if you don't enter the realm of the gods though.
>>26199353That's only if you fail or succeed. If you are unable to even attempt it, it doesn't hold it against you.
>>26199217As we will it, it is done.>>26199297Sorry, my internet's been slow and the thread didn't update in time. I'm sorry. And now the planting season is upon us. The more bloodthirsty of our clan wish to raid clan Vostang right now, their rage sharpened by the death of Olkensor. A full raid is almost completely out of the question unless we wish to starve, however. More peaceful activities (or simply sneaky ones, in the case of a cattle raid) are a lot more likely. What is the will of the Clan Ring?
>>26199400Try to set up a trade route with the wolf clan again.
>>26199400Set up trade, and do a cattle raid on the Vostang.
>>26199400Our response to the Vostangi must be a measured one, and we must build our strength for that first. We should concentrate on strengthening the Sky Sons instead of expending what little strength we can muster.
>>26199489Do not forget though, we MUST have more cows by Sacred Time than we have now.
>>26199400>>26199461Our first challenge is to create an entire economic infrastructure, from top to bottom, out of whole cloth. No gradual evolution from previous economic systems is possible, because there is no previous economic system. Each interdependent piece must be materialized simultaneously and in perfect working order; otherwise the system will crash out before it ever gets off the ground.
>>26199423the wolves had their chance, let us try the ducks
>>26199550Wise words.>>26199489This>>26199461You are an idiot stickpicker, and I sincerely wish we could banish everyone who keeps advocating war.I vote we ban any raiding this year, just to get these fucking retards to shut the fuck up
>>26199585Says the namefag.
>>26199461I vote for this - set up trade to try to get more of what we need, and steal the rest from the Vostang.
>>26199454Hmm... I guess I could. More work, though.>>26199423>>26199461>>26199489Valensta sets off with some warriors and the best-looking goods we have to try and convince the Wolves to trade with us, now that the omens for trade and diplomacy are better. Everyone prays for her swift return. >>26199585I don't think everyone wants to immediately go out and slaughter everyone near us; a cattle raid once in a while is a great way to fatten up our stocks. We don't need to raid as much as the Runic Men did, but a little once in a while is not a bad thing. I'm really thankful for your contributions, TUS, but I would appreciate it if you'd dial it back just a smidgen.
>>26199740naw dont bother, its not a big deal tbh
>>26199740Literally every raid season people keep crying for raids despite the clan being amazingly weak. Multiple people agree that it is an amazingly bad idea that will lead to a game over. There is a difference between cattle raiding and occasional supply raids and this "raid all the time" mentality that is pretty much going to end the game before it starts.
>>26199771dont bother ms painting the thing out, its fine~
>>26199740Enastarra, it seems, has completely forgotten the words of the God-talkers this season, while Kenstrel actually speaks wisdom. Several fear for their lives at this turn of events. Many advocate for the selling of our horses for cattle; with a skilled Bargainer, fine Elmalian horses could bring in many cows at market. We'll have to wait for Valensta for that, though. What should we do in the meantime, however? Kulbrast wisely points out that we don't even have a temple to Issaries at this point; perhaps invoking his favor could bring us more riches.>>26199771>>26199790Yeah, it's kind of a pain in the butt. I don't think I'll do it in the future.>>26199784You have to admit, raiding is fun. And the game tells you a lot to raid in Storm or Fire Season. What I'll do is this: when peeps want to go on raids, I'm going to assume they mean cattle raid unless people specifically tell me "go out thirsting for blood" or "take captives" or "conquer land" or something along those lines. I'm glad you're invested in this, TUS, I really am, and that you want to see the Sky Sons succeed.
>>26199868Only do it for important events obviously.
>>26199784You're a fucking loon. NO ONE SAYS TO RAID DURING NONRAIDING SEASONS. Stop being so god damn paranoid.
>>26199939I think that's a better idea. When those big important events come up, I will.
>/tg/ loves KoDP>no one ever seems interested in RQ/HQ/HWI would love to play a game set in Glorantha again.
>>26199868No. We need to save our goods for fortifications, and cows for sacrifice is right out this year.
>>26199966We actually had a thread yesterday about Glorantha in general, though it was mostly about KoDP. I asked the other day which edition of the game is best for newcomers, but got no answers.
>>26199966I saw a thread yesterday about Glorantha. It's just not a very well known system among the young people on /tg/, myself included. I find the setting very cool and interesting, but do not have any person experience with it.
>>26199982Perhaps we should then do something else? Send out another exploring party, for instance?
>>26199868Check our crop allocation. Make sure we don't have extra unworked hilds, and that we aren't overworking the Carls.
>>26200047I'm sure we have plenty left to find on our Tula. Go for it.
>>26199868Raiding is fun as shit if you can pull it off. And if you can avoid doing it literally every year. We can't seem to do either, which is why its probably best just to not entertain the idea this year, because its going to end the game at this point. Clan magic is amazingly weak, you lack any real defensive structures, you are still at the shitty tier 1 market, everyone either hates you, dislikes you, or doesn't care about you, you only have one of the special crafting items, morale is trash, no quests have been completed yet, there are not enough shrine bonuses to sustain the fields if people are injured nor do you have most of the combat boosting rewards, you haven't cleared your tula of predators yet, you lack the land for farms and hunters, your earth magic is trashed utterly, and you are low on weaponthanes. Sure, you should try to be democratic but maybe don't let certain segments of people you are doing a LP with drive the playthrough into the dirt amazingly quickly. After a few years the clan should be growing with minor wax and wane cycles rather than outright dying like it is.>>26199959I was saying people are crying to raid EVERY raid season. Meaning that we are over raiding. Combined with having done absolutely nothing to increase sustainability, that means the game is over without a drastic 360. Shouting raid raid raid is fun but maybe we should ensure we could actually win those. But if you just want to commit suicide I guess I could just leave the thread. It looks like Ringspeaker is going to let you kill the LP.
>>26200049Our fieldhands are working rather steadily at the moment; they could handle a few more hides, but not too much more without more farmers or assistance from Barntar. If you like, we could put them at maximum.>>26200069The thing is that this isn't "Ring Speaker plays KoDP," This is "/tg/ plays KoDP." The successes and failures of the clan is all up to you guys. You're right that there needs to be some serious changes if the Sky Sons are going to turn around, but it's not lost yet. I suggest you speak to your fellow anons in the thread about ways to make things better, because at the end of the day, I will do what the consensus in the thread is.
>>26200069>Hurr there is only one way to play a game
>>26200062If there are no objections, Ernaldess will set out once more with our warriors in hopes of finding riches. Riches that aren't immediately lost to cave wyrms in games of chance, that is.
>>26200187>>>26199454Holy shit, Kenstrel got a swag hat!I wonder if the hat will make him suck less?
>>26200187Take on another 6 hides. We want to wiggle room so we have farmers left to look after our hypothetical gain in cows this year, and enough to gain some extra food for the larder.>>26200216That works too.
>>26200235Nothing can make a trickster suck less.
>>26200256>>26200311Ernaldess comes back empty-handed. Perhaps no news is good news; after all, she didn't run into bandits like she did last year. Also, there's news on a change of leadership amongst the Vostangi; it seems their previous chief, Heortarl, stepped aside and let Brandgor take up the title of chief. Brandgor's known for his cruelty... cruelty he may wish upon us.
>>26200205Less about only one way to play and only one way to make the way you happened to chose to play not going to result in an immediate game over.It is totally possible to play the endless war game. You can basically get such momentum through clever raiding that you are able to force out multiple clans. But that doesn't work if you start trying to raid when your clan is literally about to disperse in the bad end and your unable to win any battles due to morale and magic. You gotta build your strength in bad times and focus on being able to feast and gift give during the dark to turn the clan morale about and get shit out of the gutter. And gifting is generally superior to feasts due to it not affecting your cows, which is part of why having the ability to expend goods is really important. In essence, its not the way you are playing, its how you are trying to go about it and when.
>>26200336God damn Vostangi.
>>26200336Valensta returns empty-handed as well. Some say we haven't shown enough kindness and charity to our neighbors, while others seriously question the alliance we have with the Wolves. For the past four seasons, they have not given us aid when we sought it.
>>26200344Raiding is an excellent strategy early game, assuming you focus only on your neighbor-rival. If successful, you weaken them and enrich yourself. The extra goods can then be used to build fortifications. On the other side, you can have terrible luck such as we have and lose several battles in a row. You seem to be under the impression everyone wants to raid all the time, but you're mostly pulling it out of your ass. We tried our luck at that for an early lead, and it failed this time and are obviously planning on rebuilding at the moment.
>>26200393What are the wolves known for? They may not be a clan that tends toward peace and such.
>>26200393Thoughts of poverty are washed away by the latest gossip, however. One of the younger women in the clan was found out in the woods with Korol, a notorious troublemaker from our trading partners, the Eagles. This is troublesome because the lass, Eonislara, is bethrothed to Jorator, one of the Wolves. Should the ring get involved in such a domestic matter?
>>26200459Truly we are a cursed people.
>>26200492lol is that our catchphrase?im okay with that tbh lol
>>26200459Tell him, but urge him to continue the wedding.
>>26200504sounds good to me
>>26200560God knows we can't risk pissing off the only ally we have.
>>26200504>>26200560>>26200579Jorator takes the matter.. rather well, in fact. Thank Orlanth for small blessings.
>>26200601Fire season next? Oh gods.Check the war screen to make sure our weaponthanes are on patrol; they tend to slack off after you send them to explore or on trad missions.
>>26200601The marriage actually goes off rather well, as it turns out. After that bit of drama, the days grow longer and hotter as Fire Season draws close.
>>26200635ya what fucks honestly, lazy bones all of em
>>26200635... we were too late. The Blue Spruces made off with a score of cattle before we could even check with the thanes to see who was meant to be on patrol. Currently we have about half our warriors on patrol; 3 close to the tula and 5 afar, with the remaining 7 standing ready to go out into the field. Now that the hot days are upon us, what should we do with our time? If we want to satisfy Issaries and Orlanth, we may need to muster up more men to patrol.
>>26200718God fucking damn it.
>>26200718Truly we are cursed people
>>26200763At this rate, I'm going to have to add that to the OP image.
>>26200718Should we save our goods to buy more cows with, or use them to build fortifications right away?
>Sky SonsDo we worship Elmal or something?
>>26200783That is your decision to make; I will not countermand the decisions of the Clan Ring.
Intentionally.
>>26200808Yes, we stood with Elmal in our clan's earliest days.
>>26200783how many cows can we even buy anyway. dont even know
>>26200836If we traded all of our goods away right now, we may have enough to replace the ones that just got taken by the Blue Spruces. Trading our horses would likely net us more.
>>26200870bleh, lets just explore our tula and do tradesalso, when heroquesting comes, do the easier "The Making of the Storm Tribe" one
>>26200870>>26200870Horses are sacred to Elmal, we should not trade them away.
>>26200909I was wrong; we could get about 60 cows. My tallies were incorrect.Unfortunately, we do not know that Heroquest; right now, we know Elmal guards the Stead and Humakt the Champion.Perhaps we could ask those in our debt for cows, as well; asking all three clans for less than the normal amount would replace our losses and improve our relations with them.
>>26200909>Making of the storm tribeFirstly we don't know it. Secondly, fuck no. We need to hold off on that one until we are very powerful so we can afford to pay to make a tribe.
>>26200949Elmal will understand. Orlanth and Issaries won't though.
>>26200996Hmmm... Yes, that sounds like a good idea. Recall our favors. Wait until later to do it though: If we send our thanes away now we'll just be raided again.
>>26200996Could we build any new fortifications with our goods?
>>26201029you dont need to make a tribe with that quest though. you can just do it to level up that hero and make everyone happy that we completed a quest. Plus its a easy quest to complete
>>26201078We can afford a Stake Perimeter, but not a wooden stockade or a stone wall.
>>26201081Yes, but if you put it off you can stall tribe-forming indefinitely. If you do it, you can end up having to make a tribe before you're ready, possibly dooming yourself.
>>26201100Hmmm... The stake perimeter will help a lot against the horsespawn, but a wooden stockade is probably better. We're close to being able to afford it as well.
>>26201144>We're close to being able to afford it as well.Assuming we aren't raided and lose our goods.
>>26201064>>26201078>>26201132>>26201144>>26201154So, what do you all want to do with the rest of Fire Season?Perhaps just guard the cows that we do have?
>>26201241I can't really think of anything that won't endanger us.
>>26201241explore our tula?
>>26201332Ernaldess is once more convinced to make an exploration of our lands, assuring her that there are yet more riches to be discovered.
>>26201370Though the fact that she comes back with naught shakes such notions. Perhaps future explorations should range a little farther from home, if all the resources around us are already claimed.
>>26201404Ridiculous, I know there is more on our tula. Perhaps move the location around on it.
>>26201404An envoy of Humakti come back with Ernaldess. They don't want our sword-arms this time, thankfully; instead, they merely want permission to hunt around our tula for the walking dead. Some want to give them gifts in order to curry favor with the grim servants, but other say we are simply too poverty stricken to do too much else. What does the ring say?
>>26201445Give them permission. I wish we could do more, but we can't afford it.
>>26201569Their hunting of the undead goes well, and many foul creatures are destroyed by their blades. The tula rejoices, thankful that these threats are removed from us. The ring is glad that the Humakti do not demand more of us as well, since we have so little to give.
>>26201611With the Humakti leave the hot days as Fire Season turns to Earth Season. Many of the clan are out in the fields pulling in the crops now, and do not think of raids or violence amongst other clans. While the bulk of the clan is harvesting, what should we seek? Perhaps now is a good time to call upon our favors and fatten our herds?
>>26201656We should go to war
>>26201683Many of the clan will likely disagree with you, but if that is what the Sky Sons desire, so shall it be.
>>26201656Dem favors man, dem favors.Ask for less than is customary to bolster our relations. We need people to hate us marginally less.
>>26201683Naw man, naw.>>26201656Try to call in some favors.
>>26201719>>26201803Valensta wishes to return to the Wolves first, in order to hopefully better our relations with them. Does the clan ring have any objections to this?
>>26201875Indeed. Good luck to her.
>>26201875It seems trouble has a way to find the Sky Sons; as Valensta makes her way to Wolf territory, she's stopped by the Osgosi. She's slightly outnumbered; many of the fyrd are too busy working the fields. She's all right at combat, but her silver tongue is her greatest gift. How should she avoid these interlopers?
>>26202057How is her combat?
>>26202057Her bargaining is likely her best stat.
>>26202165She is not a full-time warrior, but she can defend herself. Good.>>26202057With the use of her insight and acumen, she convinces the Osgosi that she has nothing to take, and they allow her into Wolf territory unopposed. Though, once she gets there, the clan is hurting so much for cattle that she cannot bear to take less than the customary amount; not wishing to tax the Wolves too much, though, she takes the standard score, replacing the losses that the Blue Spruces inflicted upon us. There is hope yet that we can satisfy Issaries and Orlanth.=======================And I think I'm going to call it a night here, guys. Things may not have gone the best for the Sky Sons, but things might start looking up for us. If you want to get notifications, updates, or apologies regarding the quest, please follow me at https://twitter.com/RingSpeaker, and all the threads are archived at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Sky+SonsI'll be back at 7PM EST (1800 4chan time) on Thursday to run this again for you all. Perhaps then we can get back on track to becoming the King of Dragon Pass!
>>26202252That's 6PM EST, my bad. 'tis late where I am.
>>26202252Fucking hell, what a shitty year.
