You are Ssen, a Lamia raised by a human Paladin who adopted you after killing the ones who birthed you. You are grown now, and Father has passed on. After a great deal of work, you have become a Paladin like your Father, and now take up his duties. You are accompanied by your best friend from childhood, the insect druid Tricia; Mage, a magic user who ran away from his family of cannibal raiders known as the Ghouls (Yes, his name is Mage. It was his idea); Persephone, a 22-year old thief/ex-guerllia fighter (She goes by Peri), and Mari, a 13-year old prodigy scholar/now sniper, who has her mind and soul trapped within Peri's body; and Lea, a deeply religious musician/martial artist, trained by her father, a famous trainer for arena fighters, she's covered from her mouth down in bandages to hide the horrific state her body has become thanks to the 'cures' that saved her from cancer.Your journey continues...Opening theme song (NEW for Season 4!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3FKgL7YVFghttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Lamia%20Quest1d4 chan page w/battle stats: http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Quest:Lamia_Daughter_Quest
The City of the Crafters continues to be a giant horror show that never lacks for creativity. You snuck your way inside the Foundry, the facility where the Crafters did their advanced fleshcrafting, research into the art of fleshcrafting, and where they stored giant vats of 'spare material' for later use.Inside you first met Nakai'ia. A 'Nurse-Assisstant-Guide' who was less of a person and more of a biological robot. Her entire body had been 'perfected' to make her the best at her duties. After a little bluffing, you were able to get her to take you inside the Foundry to meet with Doctor.Doctor turned out to be less of a person, and more of an entire room. An operating room with a living ceiling. A mass of eyes, mouths, and plenty of dendrites and tentacles coming down from it. The largest being a 10ft tall, headless torso with six arms connected from the waist down to what resembles an umbilical cord that connects to the ceiling.Doctor was cheerful and friendly. He was also upset at the realization that he hadn't noticed all the time that had passed and in that time some of the spare materials had spoiled. So, in a jovial manner, he proceeded to reprimand/correct Nakai'ia by 'restoring her original settings and then repairing her...with upgrades!' a process that requires three dendrites that have surgical implements growing out of them, and Nakai'ia screaming...a lot. Then he turned to you and, addressing Mage, said that he would be taking the rest of the group and be using you to replace the lost materials. Naturally, at this point in time, you felt it would be thoroughly necessary to express your distaste, and absolute loathing, of the City, the Crafters, the North, and the really BAD days that you've been having so far. You're about to do a LOT of harm.
>>26136109The Doctor is the entire ceiling, right? That means he's HUGE, therefore he has HUGE GUTS. CLEAVE AND SMITE!
>>26136109>Remember it's a Lamiathon weekend>Check tg's catalog>See Lamia quest with 1 reply.Feels good
YESSSS!!!!Echo, you surprised me with Lamias. And for that I am greatful.
Woo, lamiathon is here! >>26136236Not yet bro, we need to save nakai. She's screaming a lot.I vote we constrict all three dendrites together, so they can't work any more. Also, we could saw them down from this position.
>>26136109I vote that once Nakai is safe, we try seeing his reaction to being told that all the Crafters are dead.
Aww yeah Lamiathon.>>26136269Do we even have enough length for that? We're only 20ft
>>26136282We should do that while making sure she's safe. Get to restricting and destroying the dendrites, while simultaneously telling him something like"Okay, I was bluffing. The truth is the crafters are dead and we're a free association of peoples investigating your long dead civilization. Also, it might explode soon. My bad."
>>26136109Alright... For the time being, maybe we can still get out of this, diplomacy style. Gonna try my hand at writing....."WAIT! You don't have to do this anymore. All of the Crafters are dead and gone!"~wait for him to say something like 'That's silly, they're immortal!~"When's the last time you've seen a Crafter? Why do you think it's been so long? Why else would a group of people, not part of their empire, be wandering their city, carrying weapons? You're a logical thinker. THINK! What are the chances that they've just been avoiding you, or forgot about you and the silos? Now compare them to the chances that the CRAFTERS ARE DEAD!!!">Aaaand see his reaction to that.
>>26136368(Well, dendrite/villi/really thin tentacle, take your pick, but if you put a picture of a typical tentacle of any type, from any form of media, and then put one of these things next to it, you'd think that these are either malnourished, still forming, or some other body part. It just doesn't feel right calling them 'tentacles.' The Choir had tentacles. Doctor doesn't.)Okay, so last night we rolled initiative and you got first. Pick your action. You can also give orders to the other Dawnchasers and make a battle plan, I have to go deal with cat vomit.
Rolled 5>>26136480Try to free Nakai'ia
>>26136430chill on your exclamation points and such. Also we need to get to saving nakai first, since doctor works fast and who knows when the lobotomy-stage of the operation is.>>26136480We're stopping the dendrites from getting to nakai first. If we can tie the dendrites up, do that. If not, cut whatever is restraining her and physically remover her.
>>26136487Seconded. While preferably trying Diplomacy. If Diplomacy fails, once we free Nakai'ia, I vote to start brewing them Fumes.
Rolled 15>>26136519No, preferably with sharp pointies.
What's a battle plan for the other dawnchasers? Just have them hold the torso off?Perhaps we should earmark Tricia for medical duties instead of fighting this battle, because we'll need to stabilize a surgery patient.
>>26136519The doctor wants to recycle our companions to replace the spoiled flesh. This isn't DnD, Diplomacy doesn't let you do that shit.Let's save Nakai'ia
I don't think diplomancy is going to work at this point, he is literally programmed to be the Doctor of this place.Anyway lets try to free Nakai'ia. Maybe shooting an arrow at the base of where the dendrites are coming from.
>>26136678diplomacy's not going to work, but I still feel obligated to inform him his civilization is long dead. I don't really care whether he believes it though, and nakai'ia takes priority. What's her real name I wonder.
>>26136769>>26136678>>26136596I'll just stop posting for an hour then.
>>26136845No, we'll need Diplomacy with Nakai'ia to actually help us with the vats and so on.
>>26136845Good enthusiasm, execution needs refining.Try again later.
Yeah, let's just tell them that the crafters are dead, and if he doesn't stop, then we murder the shit out of him.
>>26136946I think it'd take like, 70% less time and risk to just cut off his hand and book it with nakai'ia.I mean, he's a room. What's he going to do, chase us?
>>26136971alert his masters that we are here.
>>26136971Don't taunt the QM
>>26136946For someone who's had power over others, I imagine that they'd fall back on having power over a smaller group of people, starting with the rebuild Nakai'ia. If you want to, you can try.
>>26136971That's just asking to find out, Anon.
I haven't had time to catch up with this for a couple of weeks, but thanks for running it Echo! Definitely my favorite quest.
Rereading the last thread, it sounds like the Doc is going to turn Nakaia back to her original state then mindfuck her until she loses all her memory. We should allow him to do that while we fight his tentacles then kill him
>>26137020Let him turn her back to her original form, then kill the Doc. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
>>26137020I think she is currently at the original state, and is in the process of being mindfucked.Which must be interrupted.>>26136988>>26136996what's the worst that could happen? Also, on the topic of nakai'ia's spider lower body: I bet that's one of the only mounts wide enough for us ourselves to ride. Think it would become tame outside of doc's influence?
>>26136430"WAIT! You don't have to do this anymore. All of the Crafters are dead and gone!" You say."Really? Again? Well, do you mean ALL of them, or just the majority of them due to another slave uprising or one of the Factions detonated another bio-bomb in the city?" Doctor says. "Well, that certainly means a lot more work for me. I'll send out some harvesters, and get to work! But, now I REALLY need that extra material, so behave now and rejoice, perhaps some of your tissue will be used in the new bodies of the Divine Ones! Gosh, you're lucky!"So you'd have to sweep the operating curtain that's hiding Nakai'ia away with your tail, and then you'd get one shot at one of the three dendrites. There's scalpel, needle, and saw. Which one are you aiming for?Or you can aim for the torso, or you can reach yourself up and jab beacon into the ceiling, or whatever else you want to do.
>>26137080>scalpel needle or sawI can't choose all three?Well, let's go for the saw first. It's the most potentially damaging. Also, we should call somebody over to free her from her restraints. Peri and Mari have right proper blades. Let's put them on restraint removal duty, while the rest of them hold off the torso.
>>26137080needle, the saw and the scalpel can damage her body. The needle can damage her mind.
>>26137080Let's save Nakai'ia first, then we can stab the ceiling.Take a whack at the saw I guess.
>>26137188well, the saw can also damage her mind is the worry.Valid point on the needle though.
Rolled 18>>26137080[x] Needle first.
Is the saw currently in operation?Could we pull a use SAW on NEEDLE procedure? Or have I been playing too many adventure games?
>>26137080How about we use Quick-Quick for an extra action here, that way we can get the needle and the saw?
>>26137271That is a good idea...maybe combined with >>26137276If we can get a bird from across a room we can shove a saw into the needle.
>>26137188>>26137204>>26137245>>26137276You whip the curtains away."You guys handle that!" You say. "I'll get Nakai'ia!"You jab Beacon right at the needle dendrite. Nakai'ia has already been 'reset' it looks like. The clear back pops open like a display case, the spine-disc things have been removed and you see a normal spine has been replaced. Her lower torso is the same, so they probably plan to just stick her back into that eight-legged platform thing. But her face has changed from that gummy-shape-shifting thing back to what must have been her original face.Huh, she's a Crafter.Anyway, 1d20+1 to hit the needle.1d20 to see if your quickquick can get a swipe at the saw.

But it's that fake kind of sweet that you get when people use perfume or berry juice to cover a nasty scent.Your body responds to your commands, and your quickquick muscles snap into action and let you swipe Beacon across the air and at the Saw Dendrite.1d20+1
Rolled 4 + 1>>26137648

>>26137797I wonder if that needle affects us. And what's in it.Best to not find out.
Oh man, Tricia seems to be really buggin' out.
Rolled 12>>26137934Poor Trica seems to often do not so good on combat rolls

It kinds of causes your nose to tickle and you find yourself smiling for some reason. The torso lets out three swipes at Tricia, Lea, and Peri. The Saw swipes at you.Nakai'ia's platform scuttles around, it's as if it's trying to decide what to do.The scalpel makes a jab at you as well.
darkness take it all with a cattle prod, there is some sort of chemical in the blood, have mage start freezing it.
>>26138131Is Peri doing her analysis thing? Because if not, she should really start.
>>26138131Peri got hit and the saw critfailed.Lovely.
Rolled 15>>26138131Oh shit, the blood is some sort of drug. Also, what do you think of the "please wait while Echo Generates world" thing I made?
Rolled 9, 8, 9 = 26>>26138131The platform continues to scuttle and scamper around. No sentient thought means that it's just trying to go through a bunch of original orders...that aren't coming in thanks to there being no Crafters. You dodge the scalpel and make it so that when you do, the saw rips into it instead. More of that sweet smelling blood pours out.The doctor slashes Peri.Peri does a double slash on the Doctor.Mage lets loose with a fireball.
>>26138265Misses all around."Mari, start telling us what to watch for!" You snap.Mari comes out. "Heh...okay okay got it."+Your turn.

have trica feed a little bit of the blood to an insect, if it starts acting funny we can confirm that its drugged.
Rolled 16>>26138350Seconding this.
>>26138350Or just have mage freeze it.Much to our displeasure
>>26138333All three dendrites are still active. You can always try and grab Niakai'ia whenever you want, but that'll leave you open.>>26138338You can try, you'll probably get one, but more than one is trickier.
>>26138298"Be careful everyone, the blood is some sort of drug!"Swipe again at the needle (guessing the arms have multiple hit-points?).
>surgical tools attacking us instead of nakaiWonderful! Continue work on the saw, I suppose. It's the weakest at this point.
>>26138298Looks like that blood is some sort of laughing gas or something...Makes sense, in a way. Make it so if you DO bleed, everyone else will be a bit woozy, which will help to make sure you won't bleed again. Also helps to ease patients during surgeries.
>>26138407You make a constrict roll. 11 gets you one, 15 gets you two, 19 gets you all three.
>>26138530I'm wondering if the others are getting similar symptoms or if it's just us.What if it's a lethal poison, but due to our unique condition it just makes us a little loopy?Things to consider.
go for the wrap attack
>>26138700I'm fine with that. Go for it, prioritizing needle, saw, scalpel.Or saw needle scalpel, it doesn't really matter and shouldn't hold us up too long.
>>26138801>>26138729>>26138713Alright, I'm taking Dicefag's number, but roll1d20

If we manage to entangle two of the dendrites, then we can twist them against each other like supple wood, breaking them all along their structure.
Rolled 16, 16, 11, 3, 2, 19, 8, 3 = 78>>26138801You swipe your tail and snag the needle and the saw. The two tendrils thrash and writhe, but they lack the power to break free of your own coils. It'll take a second to spin your coils for the barbs to sever the dendrites.Lea continues to do her lamia style double strike The needle can't break free.Tricia does her double attack again. The doctor does the same triple attack again. The saw is stuck as well. The Platform tries to make a decision.
>>26139048Platform, just keep doing nothing.I don't want to kill you, because we will have use for you immediately after the fight.
Rolled 18, 14, 2, 17, 8 = 59>>26139048Tricia misses and gets cut for her trouble.Lea does her double strike-kick perfectly and her blows don't draw any blood. The Platform comes to a decision. There are Base Races assaulting Crafter materials. They have to be stopped. The thing rushes you. Also the scalpel stabs at you.Peri does a double slash.Mage shoots a fireball at the torso.
Rolled 3>>26139166Damnit platform! If we get Nakai into it again, will she automatically be in charge of it?

Peri says.Peri lands a nice slice.Sadly, so does the scalpel and the platform jabs one of its legs into you hard enough to draw blood.Thankfully the pain is making your head a bit clearer.Your move. You can slice off the dendrites, but that will spill a LOT of blood everywhere. As long as you have then wrapped they can't move, and you can still attack, just not with your tail.
>>26139250Be glad that the pain is keeping your head straight.Everyone else is still doing fine, save Mari and Peri being unable to swap, yet.
>>26139250"Peri, USE THE STONE!"Keep the Dendrites wrapped, destroy the scalpel.
>>26139250>>26139270grab scalpel.tie the dendrites we have constructed together with scalpel. Then, we're free to escape with the patient. With minimal bloodloss.
>>26139250We nothing else seems to be working, we need to start using our venom. That'll probably cause a LOT of trauma.

Rolled 6>>26139250How's beacon doing?[x] Have one of your friends try to get Nakai to plug into the platform so it will stop attacking us.
>>26139329If nothing else works, we'll probably have to use a deadly poison. The white will most likely work best.
>>26139361I'm not sure, does this thing even have bones?
>>26139394Some! Some bones!Though, the black might be more effective, since it certainly has nerves.
Rolled 17>>26139250And for Ssen's actual action[x] Pump the doctor full of as much black as you can.
>>26139468It is suppose to stop hearts on a second dose.but the doc is bigger.fuck it>>26139496second this instead of >>26139307
>>26139331>How's beacon doing? Two charges. Please remember that the torso is NOT Doctor. Doctor is the ENTIRE room. Most of its organs are hidden above you, protected under a layer of flesh. After these messages we'll be right back.
>>26139603Oh, goody, time to make dinner. Also, we know the torso isn't the whole of doctor, echo. It just seems to be the primary weapon pod of the doctor. If that makes any sense. Also, we've taken a shoulder hit last thread, and two hits here with no healing. I hate the north.
>>26139603Can we pick out anything notably different with heat/magic vision that could be a vital organ/major blood vessel?
>>26139702I think we heal between major encounters. Also we only got hit once by the scalpel.
>>26139762we got stabbed by spiderplatform.
>>26139844Oh I missed that
>>26139702Right, keep forgetting the hit rule...Becaon's at four charges.Well, from your heat vision, you can see that the torso doesn't really have any organs. It's just bone, blood vessels, nerves, and muscle. Also, you can't reach the torso from your position and still keep the two dendrites wrapped.
>>26139930yeah yeah, we're not fighting the torso right now. Dendrites take priority for us, our teammates are dealing with torso. Now- what happens if we inject them with black? How are we going to do that, a claw-leak-in procedure? Biting might be risky.
>>26139930Well, once the dendrites are dealt with, we should drive Beacon into the ceiling near the base of the torso and fire off the focused light attack thingy which has a name that I forgot, but actually INSIDE the Doctor.
>>26139930Beacon at four charges. YES! Time to enlighten this Doctor.
>>26140004enlightenment.that's a fair enough long term plan, though we're still dealing with dendrites. That sounds like a sit-com title.
Ssen: don't think about how beacon gains power whenever blood is spilt in proximity, be it yours or an enemies'.
>>26140004Brutal, if it works. But it's the good kind of brutal. I like it.
Rolled 20Has anyone noticed that the archive has every single thread titled wrong? It's Lamia Child Quest, not Lamia Daughter Quest.
It occurs to me. Have we been applying clang's defence bonus?Do we even have it equipped right now? I recall us switching to 2h to smite that headhunter
>>26140091yes, since we blocked that needle earlier.>>26140089not a biggie. Just one of those mistakes we're not changing later on because it would look strange in the archive.
>>26140091Okay, so I'm reading that you want to try and chomp on one of the dendrites and pump it full of black. No problem.Which one do you want to try for? One of the two you have wrapped or the scalpel?

Rolled 9>>26140806Man, every time we use this spell I have no idea what it's going to do.I think it's because we keep using it on WIDELY varying targets.
>>26140806Well, that can't be ALL bad.
>>26140806Well okay then
>>26140806Thia s might not be good. Remember we need the doctor's hand to access all the rooms. Yes, we can proceed to the objective with Nakai'ia hand, but she's got access to lower security areas, which luckily the flesh storage area is one of them.
Rolled 3>>26140874I think only the dendrites got vaped. The torso should still be structurally intact.
Rolled 6, 11, 19, 15 = 51>>26140814About four of Doctor's eyes explode into ash.The entire room shudders and the mouths let out wails and groans of pain.Lea continues to fight the torso.Same with Tricia.
>>26140874Or we break the doors down ourselves, because fuck the north, fuck the Crafters, and fuck anything that gets in the way of us getting back to the south where we belong.
>>26140922Tricia just got nice hits in.
>>26140922>dendrites are deadMarvelous! How is the patient doing? Still alive?>>26140952The doors are quite heavy, it would delay us significantly. Though I am eager to get out of this BLASTED northern temperature range. We're like mostly snake by weight, and not a cold-weather snake either. This place is basically awful for us.And I can't imagine how bad this will make our next shed.
Rolled 9>>26140922Tricia's remaining mantis blade arm slices through the torso's cord, blood spurts all over the room as the cord flops around wildly. The large multi-limbed torso falls to the ground with a crash."Heh...heheheh...get...hehe....get a hand!" Lea says. Tricia nods a dopey smile on her face. The platform is still trying to attack you.Laughing, and drooling a little, Peri clumsily slices off one of Doctor's hands.Mage lazily points his staff at the Platform. "Hang on...ssssss...hang on." A stream of cold mist...something...sprays out of his staff.Nakai'ia has long since passed out. Both due to stress, and the anesthetic effect of the blood.
>>26141057This time you manage to twitch yourself out of the way.You do feel a little giggly and lightheaded, but you're actually not that bad, as compared to the others at least.Your turn.
>>26141057Okay, get that hand, and open the door and get our guys first out of there then Nakai'ia.
Rolled 10>>26141089The only thing I can think of is to wrap the platform then try to plug Nakai in.
>>26141057Time for a few cracks over the head to get people focused.HEY MAGE! LET'S SEE YOU GRIT THOSE TEETH!
>>26141089hmm, we gotta do some damage to the Doctor. Any hints we can see with our special vision on where to strike?
>>26141057Grab that doctor hand and open the door. This room is flooded with silly-gas, we need to start letting it out so our friends don't get KOed.As for the spider platform, I dunno, put some neurotoxin in it. We'll figure out if Nakai can pilot it once she wakes up.
Rolled 16>>26141127>>26141135Still have to deal with the spider platform people.
>>26141089Remind them of their pain stones. This is srs bsniss, we all gotta keep our shit together.
>>26141168Also seconding this
I'm not surprised we are doing better, we are immune to most poisons... though this does seem to effecting us slightly
>>26141201well, even if we have a much higher lethal dose of silly gas, it's still silly. I think is how it works.I would wager that many conventional poisons would, instead, get us krunked off our rocker.
>>26141201>>26141258We do weight 800lbsMost drugs do need much larger doses to affect us I guesss
Rolled 18>>26141158The Platform is completely unaffected by poisons unless you can bite through the carapace. So the blood hasn't been effecting it.You snap down and swiftly grab the hand. You speed over to the door and slap it on the cloudy passgem. The gem goes clear and the door opens. You've never been happier in your life to feel cold air."Go go go!" You shout. The group sluggishly goes towards the door. The platform skitters towards you, then pauses and skitters back a little towards Nakai'ia, sleeping on the table. It's having another conflict.
Rolled 17>>26141318Huzzah, it made the choice that was good for us, I'm assuming?
>>26141318lets go grab her! It'll follow us then.
>>26141318Go back for Nakai. She doesn't have legs, so it should be easy to carry her.
>>26141318Poor spider platform
>>26141318It makes a decision. Protect host. It scuttles over to Nakai'ia and hops up on the bed. It clumsily tries to pick her up and opens and closes its 'hatch.' There's no way the thing can collect her on its own, but its trying. Probably eventually it'll get there, but you'll be long gone by then. The others, giggling, laughing, and stumbling over their own feet make their way through the door and out of the room.
>>26141362Help it out
>>26141362Get nakai, lure the spider thing along. We'll re-unite them once we're out of the room.
Rolled 8>>26141362Help the thing with nakai.Might be wrong decision, but I want Nakai to get out safely.
>>26141362bring her along. We can talk to her once we get her awake.
Rolled 2You know, now that the doctor is dead, it might be feasible to sleep here safely. Not sure if I want to risk it though.
>>26141362Pass the Doc's Hand to Tricia or Mage, then go get Nakai'ia. We can re unite those two away from this gastrap.
>>26141362We'll help Nakai'ia in a moment, but first we slap a pain stone in each of our companions hands and make them squeeze it. We -need- to sober up. We're wounded and burning precious daylight. No time for this shit.
>>26141460man doctor aint dead, we just cut off his weapons. He'll be pissed.
>>26141468it is literally already nighttime. we're still time-sensitive, but you made a hilarious miswording.
>>26141404Wiping away a little drool and keeping the giggling to a minimum you go over to the bed and lift Nakai'ia up enough so that the platform can open up and fit her inside. Nakai'ia makes a little grunting noise and flexes her jaws. The platform skitters towards the exit. You follow, using Doctor's hand to re-open the door and taking it with you.The door seals behind you and you take a deep breath of clean, cold, not-drugged air."Ughs..." Tricia moans. "Head...I see all around be with twinkly-sparkies."Mage just lets out a long "heheheheheheh." as he stares up at the ceiling.Peri and Mari are muttering to each other. Lea leans against you and smiles. "This...this was a good flight. I think I need to sit down and possibly vomit." She stokes your tail. "Your tail is smoooth...but it feel like you're gonna shed...yeah...I need to..." She slips off you and lies on the ground.Nakai'ia makes a 'Mmugh...' sound.
>>26141586"I am not in the mood to shed right now. Fuck the north"
>>26141586Fffffff- We're so vulnerable. Sshhiiiiiit.
>>26141586"Dude what.I... could go for a snack."No, Ssen, this is not a good time to be high.
>>26141586I don't think pain stones will fix this one. Might temporarily jolt them out of it, but they'll fall right back in because it's a chemical state."I suppose we're taking a bit of a break then. I think I got stabbed. I'm gonna just coil here and make sure nakai'ia doesn't run off, and nothing jumps us."5 minute period of shock recovery.
>>26141586I take it we're taking a rest break. Good. Also if we are attacked we are so fucked.Next time we fight a giant flesh monster who calls itself Doctor we bring gasmasks.
Rolled 5>>26141586Start applying pain stones
>>26141586"Aw man, now that you pointed it out I can feel it. This is going to be the itchiest trip."
>>26141586Alright, everyone's still a bit high from a gas so now is a good time for you guys to take a break. Drink a healing potion for your wounds. Do not put Nakai'ia on her platform until all of you are ready to continue.
Also Ssen should chug a healing potion, we're probably pretty injured
Rolled 18>>26141697Nakai is already on her platform
>>26141708We do have healing pollen from Tricia.
>>26141714Oh sorry, I didn't see that there.
"Man, you guys are such lightweights."Then giggle uncontrollably, because we're 800 pounds.
>>26141586So. Who's gonna bet nakai'ia freaks right the HELL out once she wakes up?
>>26141743If we can get her to serious up again.>>26141878750 pounds. We weigh 750 pounds. SHUT UP, YES WE DO.
>>26141878And probably have a liver rivaling the size our their torsos.
aren't we up to a ton by now? We've surely grown in the timeskip.
>>26141961we got up to 800 in the timeskip.and by 800, we mean 750. Don't you dare tell anyone we're 800.
>>26141961800lbs/20f is where the timeskip left us.Cold prob isn't good for our growth.
Rolled 11>>26141586[x] Attempt to acquire heals
Keep an eye on Nakai. Hopefully she wakes up soon.
>>26141983You all take a moment to just wait in the hall and wait for the drugs to wear off. You slump against a wall and wriggle a little. Lea's right, you are going to have to shed soon. You swear you closed your eyes for just a moment. But when you open them, you have two hands pinning your arms, a spider-esque torso pinning you to the ground, two more arms are pointing Peri's blades at the others and one hand slapping you awake with another shaking your collar."Wake up, Beast!" A voice snaps. "These Base claim you're their leader. So wake up and 'talk' or else I'll execute them all for illegal insanity!""Sorry, Ssen." Mage says. "She jumped us...and my arms are still...noodlely."
>>26142372What makes you think they are insane?
>>26142372"I'm not a beast, calm the fuck down."
>>26142372"Darn, and here I thought you'd be happy to not have gone through all that doctor's business. Good morning, by the way."
>>26142372"This isn't the way you talk to people who just saved your sorry life. Calm down a bit, then Ill explain exactly what the situation is."
>>26142372try to wriggle so our tail is in position to pin those arms holding blades on our friends. She may have us by the throat, but she doesn't have a blade on us. We'll be able to deal with it.Though, talk first. I like talking.
>>26142523Spider body seems to be pinning us
>>26142553it couldn't do that with its size unless we were coiled. So I'm going to assume we're coiled.
>>26142372Can we spit the white into her eyes?
>>26142585Give us a chance for diplomacyThen eye spit.
>>26142372"Carefull who you call base. My body is able to kill in the most horrid ways possible and my mind able to out think gods.
>>26142616nnnah. Too boastful.
>>26142372"Hi, Nakai'ia. I'm Ssen. What do you want to talk about?"
>>26142592Maybe it would be better to use black. We want to have her assistance, not blind her.
>>26142634I like it!Remember, last time we woke up with a knife to our throat we made a lifelong friend. Well, their life. Now I'm sad.
>>26142636It makes sense.Although she might go cross eye'd.
man, why's she putting air quotes around "talk"Our language not good enough for you? I have more!
"What makes you think they are insane?" You say.She gasps and jumps back. "It can TALK?!" She looks at the others. They give her the 'NOW do you believe us?' look."I'm not a beast, calm the fuck down, and here I thought you'd be happy to not have gone through all that doctor's business. Good morning, by the way." You say."Is it morning?" Peri asks."I dunno." Mage says. She stares at you, completely flummoxed. "It can talk."You wriggle yourself into position so you can snatch the blades away when you can."This isn't the way you talk to people who just saved your sorry life. Calm down a bit, then Ill explain exactly what the situation is." You say."It can talk?" She says again.
>>26142916"Yes, I can talk. In a few languages, too. There a problem with that?"
>>26142916"Yeah, and hopefully the rest'll be able to talk soon now that I've killed that bitch Peace and sent her pet land-god into hiding."
Rolled 46>>26142916"Yes. We have established that, yes, I can talk. Now can we talk about letting me up?"
>>26142916Yes, and I know more than three words; how about you?
>>26142916"Yes, I can talk. Quite well, in fact, in several languages.""So, Nakai'ia, what do you feel like talking about? Or can I... you know, go?"
>>26142969cut this. No way any of that is pertinent info for her.
>>26142916"Of course I can talk! What do you think I am, some sort of monster?" *Grin*
>>26142916"In 3 languages."
>>26142969None of that means anything to her.Ditch this.
>>26143000My Moorish companion. Do this one.
>>26143015yes add this.
"haven't heard that one in a while."
>>26143000okay, you done good kid.
"Yes, I can talk. Quite well, in fact, in several languages." You say. "I can also say more than three words. Can you?""So, Nakai'ia, what do you feel like talking about? Or can I... you know, go?""That's not my name." She snaps. "Why did you disrupt my internship? Who's your master? Why am I not back in my divine body? Did the program get cancelled? I was told that irregardless of the program being cancelled in the future or not, that I would be grandfathered in to the University." She snaps. "Where's your nearest courier, I'm contacting my father!"
>>26143102Hate to be that guy, but irregardless isn't a word.
>>26143102Do that gesture where we turn to our friends, cover our face with one hand and point incredulously at "Nakai'ia" like "Is she fuckin serious?"
>>26143102"Oh, yes, how to put this with tact. Erm.You see, the program was cancelled. Along with the university. And all crafter civilization. For thousands of years now."
>>26143102You've been in internship for a very, very long time. Most of the other crafters decided to try to become a God.
>>26143146I'm sure Echo knows that; I think he's trying to hint that "Nakai'ia" is not the brightest lantern in the dungeon.
>>26143173I like this.
>>26143146Actually we should point this out to Nakai'ia along the way of whatever else we do. As Caligo Clarus we strive to slay the evil of ignorance, including grammatical, etymological and general linguistic ignorance.
>>26143196>>26143181So we should say "Hate to be That Lamia, But 'irregardless isn't grammatically correct."
>>26143102It was the name the Doctor called you by, and what you introduced yourself as. I'm not sure about your internship, but you seemed to be used as a secretary/door-opener. I'm sorry about your body but whatever the Doctor was doing was making you scream and I wanted it to stop. My master is the Light. The University is probably a ruin and like the rest of this city and civilization has been buried and forgotten by the rest of the world for Light-knows how long. There have probably not been any couriers here for centuries if not millenia. Irregardless isn't a word.
>>26143173tack on to the end of this"Also, I hate to be a nitpick, but I don't think irregardless is a real word."
>>26143102"I'm my own leader, mostly. The head of my church has joined a different nation and I'm honestly not sure about who is my superior."
>>26143102"Oh... Oh dear, this is going to be hard.I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but I'm afraid your father is dead. Well, that might not be true, but you should hope it is, because what the Crafter's have turned themselves into...Your internship ended, centuries ago. When this was still a city, and not a graveyard. When they turned you into a robot."
>>26143102"I'm sorry, but you, me, and my friends here are the only sane, living beings in this city.""Everyone else is gone."
>>26143227Hate it. Too flippant. We're basically telling her that everyone she knew is either dead or an undead nightmare, and that she's probably the last of her race.
Well the Doctor is alive, but I doubt he is willing to cooperate with us.
>>26143408It'll be easier to deal with if she has something to be angry at.
>>26143420Getting a torsoful of maybe divine energy isn't a fun expirence
>>26143466I like how the Enlightenment Beam, instead of forcing him to confront his sins, just went 'Fuck this, burn his eyes.'
>>26143435... how's that? No, seriously, how the fuck does pissing her off by correcting her grammar at a time like this help?
>>26143507Same way that letting somebody punch you in the face while you're apologising for something is a good thing to do.
>>26143507it doesn't help but its a very Ssen thing to do.
>>26143535But that isn't a good thing to do. I've done counseling and management training before, and that's not one of the things they tell you to do. It's like the opposite of what they tell you to do.
>>26143562I disagree. We may be stupid sometimes, but we're not insensate.
"Oh, yes, how to put this with tact. Erm. Okay, first, irregardless isn't a word.""Oh?""Yes. It's not grammatically correct." You say."Oh. Thank you." She says."But...you see, the program was cancelled. Along with the university. And all Crafter civilization. For thousands of years now." You say."What?" She says."Yeah, most of the other crafters decided to try to become a God." You say."What?!" She gasps. "Wait...the Ascension Party actually got the vote? I thought that they were going to lose, that's at least what the criers would tell us." She shakes her head. "Ah well, maybe becoming a God is a good future policy. Although Daddy and I still favor the Eugenic Party. Better living through better breeding is a much more catchy slogan than One Party As God...please." She scoffs. "Alright, now beasts, base. Escort me home so I can get dressed properly, and see about my private Doctor Suite. Get me back in a Divine body not this...utilitatian nightmare...actually no. We're not going to Daddy's. We're going to my Uncle's. He's got a better Doctor there, what with his menagerie." She nods and looks at you all. "Well? Chop, chop! Your Physical, Moral, and Spiritual better and Master has given you a command! Obey!"You and the other Dawnchasers share a 'This is really happening?' look."You...you DO know that your family and civilization are long gone and turned into a giant...thing. We're not lying about that." Mage says.(cont)
>>26143596"Yeah, yeah. I heard, I heard." She rolls her eyes. "Not like the Crafters haven't been wiped out by our own hubris before. I mean I remember choking to death on my own blood from the plague that we created to try and stamp out the Orc Rebellions. Big deal. Eventually the planets will align again and release enough radiation...I'd explain what that is, but you're Base and Beasts so I'll spare your minds...and then the Restore Process will begin again at the Tower of Renewal." She shrugs. "Honestly, you Base get WAY to tied up in your concepts of mortality. So, how long has it been one hundred, two hundred years?" She grins. "Ah well, it'll be nice to have a proper God watching over us. Maybe nature will get things right for once and not need our divine guidance." She snaps. "Now come on! I have a home to get straightened up, my uncle to see...and while we're out I am SO going to go into Ras'ilia house and take BACK my favorite gown and a few of hers. Bitch owes me!""Umm...out of curiosity...where is the Tower of Renewal?" Lea asks."Eh, somewhere to the South." She says. "We recently moved it to keep it safe from the Orcs due to the uprisings. You can't miss the place, we have it surrounded by the Loyal Red Wolf Orc Tribe, and they maintain the great fires all around it. Showing the night that nothing can erase the immortal power of the Divine Crafters."Tricia looks at you wide eyed. "Uhhh, this place, it's...it's not underground or anything hidden like that?""What? No!" She says. "Ugh, you Base...why should the Divine hide anything? The great vats are there for all to see."You do remember seeing a lot of very thoroughly destroyed ruins on the Red Wolf Island when you were out hunting. "Not anymore apparently." Peri says. "Look, kid...what is your name?""It's...ohh...oh shit. Fuck, see I KNEW storing my hippocampus was a dumb idea, but daddy insisted." She shrugs. "Nikai will do for now...but bow and say Praise Unto Thee when you say it."
>>26143408>>26143596Still hate it, friend?
>>26143609Is she holding you or pinning you down anymore. If no, disarm her and get to the meat locker, we have a mission and it is not dealing with a spoilt brat. That is the orcs job.
>>26143609"I meant it when I said thousands of years. Thousands. The towers were most likely destroyed. Considering the large amount of rubble at the red wolf tribe, and the lack of towers."
>>26143609We were just there. There is no tower.
>>26143609"I'm not bowing to you. You have no authority over me or any of my group. You OWE me for getting you out of being stuck in that room forever."
>>26143609Wait, is she referring to the tower that I think she is referring to?
>>26143609"You poor thing. You actually don't understand. You can come with us, it'll all be clear soon. Just don't make a sound or the eldritch abominations which once were your people will annihilate your soul."
>>26143596So this is Kc'lasa's niece?
When we go back to the orcs and they decide to kill her, I say we let them.
>>26143749We do got to give her a chance to repent.
>>26143757The guy that turned the girl in Ssen's flashback into a lamia...thing.
>>26143609Well, we're on a mission for the Red Wolf tribe, I highly recommend that you follow us if you want to live. Also, it hasn't been a few centuries. It has been thousands of years. There's no-one left. No-one knows what Crafters are. Hell, WE only know because we're the first living ones in this city for Light-knows how long. I don't want to be mean, or cruel, but I am completely honest when I say that there is no mention of Crafters, or anything like them, in any recorded history anywhere as far back as it goes.
>>26143609"Okay. You don't understand. The Crafter's have been dead for THOUSANDS of years. There is no tower of renewal. You are the last one. This city, the capital of your race, is a nightmarish wasteland of undead, ruled by an insane god. The so called 'Base' races inherited the world. The hubris of your race destroyed you for good this time.I'm sorry."
>>26143609"No. It's been thousands of years, your Father is gone, your Uncle is gone, Ras'ilia is gone, your entire civilization is GONE. Your favorite gown? GONE. You? Disassembled and experimented on and probably tortured regularly for thousands of years by an insane monster. The Red Wolf Tribe? Strongest tribe of the FREE orcs. That body? Only one you're likely to ever have from here on.""The "Restore Process" clearly never happened. All that's left of your people? Their legacy? Shambling undead horrors made of ice, darkness, and ichor.""So you have two choices: waste your life here in the darkness, or help us end the nightmare that has devoured your ENTIRE RACE."
>>26143609Wait a sec. A tower in the south, right? We were born in a tower to the south."This tower of renewal. Is it covered in brillitite, per chance?"
>>26143609"You have massively underestimated the hubris of your race. It's already over. Has been for millennia."
>>26143828She said it *stood where the red wolf have made their home.
>>26143835>>26143828Although that isn't to say that I would like to know about what she may know
>>26143850She also said it was moved.
>>26143609Look a few minutes ago you were about to be diced up for spare parts by the doctor in there. He'd been using you as a programmed floor sweeper and receptionist for who knows how long and in that time some of the materials in the silos went bad. He was about to chop you up for spare parts, which apparently was to be followed by us.The moment you step outside this building you'll be attacked and torn apart, with your head being forcibly added to the body of the nearest undead ice-god collective. The Orks from the Red Wolf tribe have been maintaining the wall of fire as planned but are using it to hold back the ice-undead. Their current camps surround ruins that look like they could have been destroyed centuries of even millenia ago. If your Tower of Renewal was there it's long been destroyed.Right now we're trying to save the immoral souls of as many of your people as possible. Is there any chance you might be able to help us with that?*Roll eyes*I supposed we could grab a couple of your things before we get out of the city if its along the way.
>>26143908>>26143850>>26143828It was moved out of the city. The Red Wolf camp is on an island south of the city. There are ruins there.
>>26143732>Wait, is she referring to the tower that I think she is referring to? I was actually tempted to have it be Bright Tower, but then thought better of it. Although Bright Tower was now built by the Crafters, but it was just the equivalent of a summer home. "You have massively underestimated the hubris of your race. It's already over. Has been for millennia." You say. "It's been thousands of years, your Father is gone, your Uncle is gone, Ras'ilia is gone, your entire civilization is GONE. Your favorite gown? GONE. You? Disassembled and experimented on and probably tortured regularly for thousands of years by an insane monster. The Red Wolf Tribe? Strongest tribe of the FREE orcs. That body? Only one you're likely to ever have from here on."There is no tower of renewal. You are the last one. This city, the capital of your race, is a nightmarish wasteland of undead, ruled by an insane god. The so called 'Base' races inherited the world."You can come with us though, it'll all be clear soon. But, I'm not bowing to you. You have no authority over me or any of my group. You OWE me for getting you out of being stuck in that room forever."(cont)
>>26143824What did Lea just tell us a couple of threads ago when we were dealing with someone annoying and uncooperative? Pretty sure it wasn't "twist the knife"
So yeah, the gist of it seems to be 1) You were being used as a floor-sweeper, door opener, and receptionist for thousands of years, and were about to be used for spare parts2) The Restoration process never happened, and never will because the Tower has long been destroyed3) Your race have become undead zealots that exist to kill, convert, and absorb all sentient life4) Follow the snake if you want to live
>>26144026She stares at you with a completely uncomprehending look on her face. She truly cannot understand how you, a Beast, can talk and how you can talk to her like that."Thank you!" Peri says as she yanks her blades back out of her hands. Nikai isn't a trained fighter, so they were fairly easy to extract."Hey!" She snaps. "You can't do that!"You slip out from under her and she squeaks in horror at your movement and staggers back, nearly tripping over her own limbs."You...you can't do this! I am a Divine One. I'm better than you and you're supposed to know it! Also apparently, we're God now...so...so why aren't you being properly respectful? Don't you CARE what we do to you, your flesh, and your soul?""Actually, right now we're trying to save the immoral souls of as many of your people as possible. Is there any chance you might be able to help us with that?" You ask.She sniffs. "Fine."
>>26144032We are verbally slapping some sense into her.
>>26144041"Well, 'God Killer' is actually in my business card."
>>26144041"You think that twisted thing in the Cathedral is the only god out there? I already mortally wounded one god, and the abomination that your race has become is next on the list.As of this moment, you are not superior to anybody. If you treat me as an equal, I will return the favour, but if you have any intention of surviving what happens next, then you'd do well to listen to me.I'm sorry for what has happened, I truly am, but there will be time to come to terms with it when you aren't in danger."
>>26144041"Also, we have a knack for deicide, so being gods doesn't really faze us much."
>>26144041"A God which does the things I've seen this one do isn't worthy of respect, nor will I show any fear in the face of the challenge.""But saving all these souls is a tall order, and if you're half as good as you say you are, I'll be glad of the help. But remember this: follow the snake-lady if you want to live."
>>26144100start telling her about Citadel, its history, and its current status.Finish up with "As you now know I don't bow to a God just because its a God. I have no desire to become a mindless beast the Fifth or Citadel would have me be."
>>26144041"marvelous, we'll take all the help we can get. Oh, as for your other question, the crafters have been dead longer than known history. Also, gods are all over the place nowadays. There's at least three down south, two of which are sealed and the third of which we're working on. This one up here, though, is just outright terrible. I think you guys didn't do it right- you'll see for yourself next time we get out there."
>>26144100Unfortunately we technically haven't actually killed one yet.
>>26144041Alright! Now, we just need to know where the Flesh Vats are. We need them to free the trapped souls that still remain here before we can destroy this entire place, god included, before we can head back south to defeat the armies of ANOTHER god trying to invade our homeland when we defeated the god that held sway over there. Which really pissed off the ORIGINAL god of that area, since we did it out of sequence and now it can't come back. Then we're going to kill those gods too.
>>26144187This sounds good
>>26144117Seconding not just accepting that thing, Citadel, Fifth, and whatever they have in the Pheonix Empire as gods.
"I've met two other gods that would have me be nothing but a beast, one of them sealed itself away rather than face me, and I brought the century spanning plans of the the other crashing down around it. I do not bow to power, or threats of damnation, and i will burn down the world before I see others forced to do so"
>>26144215A little braggy.
>>26144271To be fair, dragonbrain definitely isn't liking this.
>>26144271Come on. We made a god run away from us in fear like a little bitch. We're allowed to brag sometimes.
>>26144041A little less conversation, a little more action.
>>26144271This is Ssen's dragon brain talking. Bragging train doesn't have any brakes.
>>26144041"Marvelous, show us to the flesh vats. Hopefully there's something still living in there.
>>26144317>>26144271>>26144298This is the part where Lea hits us in the head.
This bitch is trying to out-arrogant a dragon?Whatever, she has no power over us. Lets just get to the vats.
>>26144388She's too loopy to do that.also lamia dodge.
"Alright! Then we're going to kill those Gods too.""WHAT?!" She says."Well, 'God Killer' is actually in my business card.""You don't have business cards." Mari says."We should make some." Mage says."You think that twisted thing in the Cathedral is the only god out there? I already mortally wounded one god, and the abomination that your race has become is next on the list. I do not bow to power, or threats of damnation, and I will burn down the world before I see others forced to do so" You say. "Now, we have souls to save, and if you want to live through this, you'll follow me."Nikai just stares at you for a while. Then she slowly starts to back away. "D-don't follow me!" She turns and runs. "HELP! HELP! ANYONE!" She goes down the hall. "BLASPHEMERS AND HERETICS! SOMEONE HELP ME!" She shrieks. The rest of you stare after her as she runs away. "You think she's realized that she's running DEEPER into the Foundry and not OUT of it?" Mage says(cont)
>>26144416"Either way, she is opening up the doors." Tricia says."I...I have no idea on how to treat that woman." Lea says. "You can't blame her for her behavior with her being raised in this demented civilization...but to be so...insufferably shallow." She shudders. "We can't let her just be blown up by the Orcs.""We are NOT taking her with us." Tricia says. You all round a corner. Huh, it looks like your 'friend' is heading straight to main storage. Lucky you. "Well...maybe we can just let her know about the bomb and give her enough time to get out of the city?" Mari says. "She's one of the Crafters, right? The God thing wouldn't hunt her down...would it?""We have no idea how that thing thinks." Mage says. "Nor do I ever want to know.""Okay, so...how do we keep her from freaking out at the sight of us, then?" Peri asks. "I mean, Ssen...that speech was a little over the top. Even for you, did she hit a nerve or something?"
>>26144388Going from glomping on us and talking about how smooth our skin is to head-bonking.Yup. That's our party dynamic.
>>26144388"But Leeeeaaaa she started iiiiit!"
>>26144416>>26144416>"HELP! HELP! ANYONE!" She goes down the hall. "BLASPHEMERS AND HERETICS! SOMEONE HELP ME!"
>>26144426The beast thing. Every god I've met so far has regarded me as one. Or a pawn. I shouldn't have taken it out on her honestly.
>>26144426*shrug*"Dragon bits were not fond of her treatment of us.."
>>26144474...Also I've been wanting to brag about the god killing thing for a while.
>>26144426"You know, I think so. Either that or It's because I'm itchy, cold, and hungry. Hopefully she comes around when she sees what the situation is out there. We're probably gonna have to ferry her back to civilization. Light knows what the orcs would do to her."
>>26144426"I... Yeah. Probably.Dragon part of me didn't like being called a beast, and her whole "I'm better than you and you should aknowledge it!" shtick, it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I'll apologize when we catch up."
>>26144426"Peri, these things have been invading my dreams since not long after we met. I'm a little tired of slithering lightly around the issue.""Maybe one of you should talk to her next time."
>>26144426It's... a whole lot of things hitting a whole lot of nerves. Ah, I shouldn't have been so blunt. The cold, the monstrosities, the beat-or-be-beaten orcs, her arrogance and mine colliding, the Sad Things being left up here alone for thousands of years to suffer, I'm about to shed....*Sigh* Let's get the Vats open and try to keep her from killing herself. No-one deserves the fates this place inflicts.
I have a feeling she is going to be running back to us eventually with Hounds at her heels. Or worse.
>>26144709I'm wagering on something new. We've not seen any floating ones yet.
"But Leeeeaaaa she started iiiiit!" You say.Lea just glares at you."I...yeah, okay, probably.""Probably?""OKAY! >>26144510>Dragon part of me didn't like being called a beast, and her whole "I'm better than you and you should aknowledge it!" shtick, it kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Also I've been wanting to brag about the god killing thing for a while. Not to mention that I'm itchy, cold, and hungry, dealt with the beat-or-be-beaten orcs, the Sad Things, I'm about to shed..."You sigh and roll your eyes. "I'll apologize when we catch up. Also we're probably gonna have to ferry her back to civilization. Light knows what the orcs would do to her." You say.Lea nods at you.You follow Nikai's path, and some old signs and you end up in central storage. Giant vats about the size of small buildings loom in the room, all of them covered and with runic script etched all over their sides. There's a rather nasty smell in here though, just as was said, it seems a few of these vats have had the magic expire and they've spoiled and rotted."Where's the kid?" Peri asks.Mage shrugs as he checks another vat. "Dunno. She ran past here, so...shit, another one rotted.""Shouldn't you open the vats to check?" Tricia asks."Not really." Mage says. "I can smell it easily enough, and failed magic is failed magic."Roll 1d8
>be away for weeks>return>see a fight with laughing gas involved>noice.jpgGood thing you fellas didn't try to burn the Doctor. Nitrous Oxide is flammable.
Rolled 8>>26144778Oh no you don't!
>>26144802>>26144799>>26144778>>26144775Fuck this gay earth.I don't need this and being sick too.
I really should take the time to learn Magic, Granny said she could start teaching me.
>implying rot isn't aliveWe can totally use the rotten flesh for this I bet.
>>26144879Wrong kind of life, I bet. Fungus and bacteria don't count, It's got to be something more...significant?
>>26144822don't worry, it was a roll to determine how many dire wolves were currently coming for us
>>26144996With Nikai right in front of them, screaming obscenities in her own language.
>>26145030yeah, about right.Ssen: begin learning crafter, starting with obscenities.
>>26145046What use would that be? Writing maybe, but the overwhelming majority of those that speak it are now dead.Orcish on the other hand...
>>26144775"Three vats. And the last one is just because the magic failed less than a week ago. Good timing on our part." Mage says."Would rotten flesh work?" Peri asks. "I mean, there's living stuff in that, right?""I have no idea." Mage says. "But do we want to risk another mistake like what happened with the fire?""We should do what we know works first, if we have an option to do something that works let's do that BEFORE going to our normal craziness." Tricia says."What exactly is your plan Mage?" Lea asks. "You said you had one.""Yeah. It's pretty simple, this stuff can survive outside the vats for about a day or two. Maybe longer, if the stuff that hasn't spoiled yet is any indication." Mage says. "It won't exactly be pretty, but some Ghoul Spells can turn this stuff from giant vats to something that could fit inside a barrel, like the ones we saw outside, and I know I saw a few here and there. I shrink the stuff down, we load it up in the barrels. They'll still be heavy though, so we roll them back to the Sad things, pop them open and then get out of there. They use the living flesh, and hopefully that works, and then we get the staff and blow this place to the Darkness.""I just had a bad thought." Mari says."No." Tricia says. "No, you didn't. For the love of His Light Mari, don't complicate things further. Just get a barrel and let's go.""Go ahead, Mari." Lea says."How do we know that the Joy Things are the only Sad Things in the City? This place is pretty big." Mari says.
>>26145228"You're not wrong. A city this size would have a substantial population, and if Nikai's ramblings were any indication, it was only a slim majority of them that were in favor of the 'God' plan. Maybe if we opened the doors and called them all here?"
>>26145228"Mari, I'll get to you in a second, but Mage wouldn't that barrel be very heavy and dense? Now Mari, why'd you have to go and jinx everything?"
>>26145228"Yeah, that's a major concern. I was thinking we could just... attract all the sad things to us. We're alive, we have light and warmth, that's what they want, right? So we just have to show it off. From the rooftops. Loudly."
>>26145228"That's true. But you see, we have only a limited amount of ... meat and even more limited time. So we will save who we can. I guess this was what my talked to me about. 'The hard part.'"
>>26145228"That was the part of the plan we didn't figure out. We need a way to attract the Sads but only the Sads. And we should probably find Nikai before someone else finds her."
>>26145228"So you are you saying that we should bring the creatures here instead? Lure them here with some sort of...beacon?"
>>26145228"While we're thinking, I really think we should find where Nikia went. I have a feeling she'd probably find a Headhunter, or worse-yet one of the wolves...
"Mari, I'll get to you in a second, but Mage wouldn't that barrel be very heavy and dense?" You ask."Hence why I picked a barrel and not a box." Mage says. "Barrels can be rolled. Plus Lightmare is in the lobby eating wicker furniture as we speak. If it can pull a wagon with us in it, three heavy barrels shouldn't be too much for it.""Alright. Now Mari, why'd you have to go and jinx everything?"Mari shrugs. "Sorry, it popped in there and I couldn't help it.""You're not wrong. A city this size would have a substantial population, and if Nikai's ramblings were any indication, it was only a slim majority of them that were in favor of the 'God' plan. Maybe if we opened the doors and called them all here? Lured them here with some sort of beacon?" You say."Are you forgetting that we are RIGHT across from the Cathedral?" Tricia says. "Headhunters, Hounds, and the God itself right across the square?""Good point." You say and then sigh. "But in the end we have only a limited amount of...meat and even more limited time. So we will save who we can. I guess this was what my talked to me about. 'The hard part.'" You shake your head. "We'll do what we can, and we should probably find Nikai before someone else finds her.""Okay." Mage smiles as he finds some storage barrels in a corner. "And these have...old potatoes in them...for some reason I don't want to know." He says. "I'm gonna need some help getting these ready and putting the flesh in here. Ssen, if you want to go look for Nikai, you can...but only take one more person for help...why would anyone keep a hat in...never mind...everyone else help me with these things and we can maybe divvy the stuff up into six barrels and make it a tad lighter."Do you want to just rush through this and stay with Mage, go look for Nikai alone, or take someone with you. The Storage Room is a safe place, anyone you leave here will be fine as they prep the flesh for travel.
Rolled 5>>26145228Well. Mari just brought up what I like to call the Schindler Problem. Basically, there are 4000 people who will die unless you save them. But, for whatever reasons, you can only save 400.Who does the paladin save? Pic related. Also, I have to tell you Echo that I love how you hand these situations to us without going 'lol paladin falls.'
>>26145535really, what would "falling" do to us? We have hardly any divine powers.>>26145534Let's go look for nakai alone. we're much sneakier on our own, and a decent amount faster too. At least in short sprints.
>>26145534I say Lea. We could probably use some talking to and she's the only other one who is good with non-lethal.
>>26145534Look for Nikai with Lea.
>>26144757Goddamn guys, can't we keep our damn dragon ego in check? Hasn't Lea pointed out when we cross the line enough times for us to actually learn? Has anything good every come from us bragging or attempting to verbally put others in their place? Us almost bragging to Sideways and giving up as much info as we got would have been bad if it hadn't got outvoted, but the second I turn my back for a while we pull this shit?God, no matter how many time Lea corrects us when we're slacking as a paladin, we repeat the same mistakes again in a matter of days.
>>26145535Who does the paladin save? All of them.Take the third option that will probably result in a horrible sequence of events that will have drastic consequences. My vote is to actually set up a timed event that will go off and alert all of the Sad Things, after, say, a couple hours. In that time we grab the Staff and bug out. Or we could probably even use it as a distraction, going in once all the nasty things go to the Silos to see what all the commotion is...How much stuff do we have that can be used as a fuse? And how much stuff for fireworks and other stuff do we have? I know we still have some oil bombs...
>>26145632hey, I keep saying quit with the braggy stuff every time it happens. I don't know why, but some guys REALLY like bragging.
>>26145632It has been ages since our dragon ego has been so agitated and she did call us an animal along with claiming divinity when gods have been fucking with our head for the majority of this quest. Not to mention we're in the north, it's cold, we're soon to be shedding and she thought to command us even after we saved her ass.
>>26145534You know what we should do?Take the flesh elsewhere, and THEN beacon as many joys as possible there."I'll go fetch her. Gotta apologize before she gets eaten by a... we should start naming these things."
The doctor mentioned Harvesters.... could we use those as carriers for Living Stuff that the city population needs?
>>26145761I bet Nikki could command them, or we could with the Doctors hand.
>>26145761I was thinking that mage's plan could be to make a bunch of primitive walkers to go out and FIND the sads. You know, fight abomination with abomination.
>>26145761Sounds like a good idea
>>26145780>I was thinking that mage's plan could be to make a bunch of primitive walkers to go out and FIND the sads.>You know, fight abomination with abomination. That's possible, but then you have to make sure that the constructs find Sads without getting jumped by other Things. Time consuming and dangerous.Mage has the most efficient and safest idea that will help most, if not all, of the Joy Things. Also, you haven't found any other Sad Things, so they might be the last survivors. But you're not certain...you can't be 'certain.'
>>26145761>The doctor mentioned Harvesters.... could we use those as carriers for Living Stuff that the city population needs? For clarificiations' sake:They weren't Things. Harvesters was a job title.
>>26145889well, we'll take the cargo elsewhere, that's for sure. Here is NOT the ideal distribution point. Maybe we'll summon them to the tower of dominion right before we break the staff and signal the bombing.Go after nakai'ia
>>26145889Say a prayer to the Light while going to find Nikia, then."Light, guide me to those who need help in this city. Guide those who need help in this city to me."
>>26145732Terry also thought to command us even after we just saved his ass. Lea scolded us when we prioritized putting him in his place over comforting him, and we acknowledged our mistake and apologized. That wasn't that long ago and here we are pulling the same shit. Not saying we should have pretended to be subservient to her, but we could have tried simply explaining what we were currently doing and why it was necessary instead of being like "I've fought gods before, I'm going to kill the god that is all that remains of your civilization, and then I'm going to kill some more gods! Bwahaha!"
>>26145956you just keep doin' what yer doing. Vital service and all that.
>>26145956To be fair, a lot of us were saying that was a bad idea, or just giving alternatives. It's just that this time the worst possible suggestion got picked.
>>26145594>>26145755>>26145951"I'll go fetch her. Gotta apologize before she gets eaten by a... we should start naming these things." You sigh. "Light, guide me to those who need help in this city. Guide those who need help in this city to me."You head out and look around the Foundry halls to see if you can find any trail of Nikai. Thankfully her trail is easy to follow, there's dust and other signs of age in here, and her platform's feet make distinct trails. The only problem is that you slightly lose the trail when you go upstairs to the administration floor. There's less dust and less trail. So you can either head towards a sign that's labeled 'Showroom' or 'Evaluations.'
>>26146083okay, let's get into her head. She's running and looking for help. There'd be more guard-y types in a showroom than an evaluation room, right? So she'll go to the showroom.Showroom it is. Tourism is go!
>>26146083Heat vision/magic vision give us anything?
>>26146111>>26146083Also do we smell anything?
>>26146111>Heat vision/magic vision give us anything?Nah, place is brimming with magic, and you can't pick out her individual heat signature from the other rooms that are like Doctor. Which you have been avoiding. You don't want to know why Cafeteria also has a living ceiling, and a solid mass where the kitchen should be.>>26146155>Also do we smell anything?Flesh, bronze, rust, dust, and death.
>>26146183What about the doorknobs?
>>26146183my vote remains showroom. Also maybe we'll go back to the cafeteria later and try to make the kitchen work, if we're feeling adventurous.
>>26146183>Solid mass>Solid mass of flesh>Solid mass of flesh that is shapeshifted into whatever the patrons want to eatAbsolutely disgusting.
>>26146223Yeah and now here's the capper. What do you think IT eats?
>>26146293Who knows! it's going to explode.Or be drained by undead hookers.Whatever.
>>26146293Soylet green eats people.
Rolled 7>>26146293...hopes and dreams?
>>26146106Though the boffins would be in evaluation, and she used to work here.Still, showroom sounds like it would have more people, so that has my vote.
If I were a practical bio-tech city I'd feed it the dead and waste. Sadly, these guys seem the type to feed them slaves like orcs.
>>26146413later, echo was trolling us.It eats potatoes and spring water.
>>26146413Yeah, but it's easy to use that waste to grow food, not do what Citadel does.
>>26146394>>26146209>>26146106You go into the showroom. It's a large room, there's some upright glass display cases and a model diorama of the City in the center.Whatever kind of beings that were in the display cases have been long dead and turned into rot and then that turned into dust.Nikai is there, sadly staring at the model. She looks up at you and starts to look afraid for a moment, and then collapses into defeat."Fine, go ahead. Kill me." She sighs. "The world has gone, savages and beasts run rampant, and the greatest civilization are those Base Birdfolk from across the sea. And even they've allowed themselves to breed into..." She snarls. "Filth. I remember what they used to look like. Regal and resplendent in their feathers. Not like that harpy trash, but elegant...but that damn ape genome is..." She shakes her head. "The first Lamia looked NOTHING like you, but fuck enough humans and that toxic plague they call their genetic makeup will rot your divinity, or regality, or dragon...inity, whatever. Either way, people always end up looking like them. THey have crap brains, crap bodies, crap everything, but they can make sex enjoyable and a genome that's most dominant than..." She gestures to a window at the Cathedral outside. "I guess the Entropic Party was right...time ruins all things." She shakes her head. "So...what now? I won't go live in this world. It's filthy and unclean and I'd rather die. I'd rather all of YOU die first." She narrows her eyes. "But..." She looks back to the map. "That's not going to happen now. Is it?""How do you know about the Phoenix Empire?" You ask.(cont)
I bet there's some shit in the showroom. We need to get a camera. We need those to be invented.
>>26146830She touches the model and pushes it. Your eyes widen. It's not a model. It's...something more. The model moves and shifts, you see the tundra Orc Camps, the UKF, the Citadel Dome, and the desert. She pushes the diorama to the side and the map continues to move, you see the Phoenix Empire. It's pretty big, four big cities, a bunch of little towns, you see what must be the Silks, and their tent cities, and the huge mountains that are behind them. The map continues to roll and you see another land unlike any you've seen before. It's still land, but you don't know those mountains, those plains, those cities in strange shapes and buildings, and more and more. Then it goes to a large amount of water, and you see the UFK again. There IS land to the East. Plenty of it too, with unknown civilizations.Nikai brings it back to the ruined City of the Crafters. "This was once all ours. You live upon our corpse and dine upon our scraps. We became God, and even then...we accomplished nothing. It all turns to that." She gestures to the dust in the display cases. "It's not fair...it should have been YOU...or some other Base race that was destroyed." She sneers and then sniffs and uses one of her hands to wipe a rag across her three eyes. "Fuck you, and fuck time."
>>26146839"If it makes you feel any better, I'm probably going to outlive everyone I care about too."
>>26146839"What I'm trying to do here is save that divinity. In the end, you are where you are. But you have a choice, right here and right now. You can let things get worse, or you can allow others to get better. You might be surprised what humans can do with a bit of allowance and help. I also have a feeling I know what might have ended your civilization."
>>26146830>>26146839"Well, there is one who survived. You. If you truly want to revive you race's glory days, why are you moping and in here. Help me. Help me so i can help you. What do you say?"Time to give her a kick up the pants and the spirit to go on.
>>26146839Can we carry that map?
>>26146839"Hah, yeah, time's kind of a jerk. Sorry for going off on you earlier, you're the one who should be more upset right now, what with all this.I really think you should consider living, though. There are still good things out there. Why compound tragedy with more tragedy?
>>26146839"It may not be fair, but your life is the last of your kind. Please try to make it count. We could use all the help we can get."
>>26146839>>26146900"Beyond that, here and now, there are the souls of those who did not join in...to whatever it is that is in the city and surrounding Ice. I have found a way to save some of them from their undeath and continue their cycle, if you'll help.I need a way to call them to particular places without calling the Things outside. I know of one area where they are, of you can help me find more."
>>26146839"So, things have been getting more human-like over time? Fascinating. We don't have records going nearly that far back."
>>26146839"But you're still alive aren't you? You can rebuild and show the world that the Crafters were even better than your ancestors. That they had no need to commit the cruelties and destruction that they did. The orcs have lived with the horrors invented by the god your race became and have emulated the worst aspects of your kind. Please consider."
"I'm sure we could find a place for you away from all us 'filthy degenerates'. I'd prefer no more people die than need be.I know a nice glowing tower out in the boonies, for instance."
>>26146839Time ruins all only if all stands still. And all never stands still. So time only ruins those people and those things who try to stay the same. Change is inevitable. And yes, it's scary. When I learned that I am functionally immortal, I wondered how time would affect me. I might go crazy. I might see everything I know turn into dust around me. I'm certainly going to lose everything dear to me, one day. Be it in ten years or ten thousand. But! I'll only lose everything dear if I never find new things to cherish. The world keeps turning whether we like it or not. I'll just learn to keep turning myself, too.C'mon. Let's get out of here. Time can only hurt you if you hold onto it.
>>26147105that's actually pretty good.
>>26147133So... cliche, though. And all that talking about ourselves.Usually ill-advised.
>>26147105>>26147070I prefer these both more than everything
>>26147146a bit too much talking about ourselves, yeah, that's my main problem. But I like the "keep turning" advice, and the time can only hurt you if you hold onto it bits.So... requires editing.
>>26147178Echo has plenty of speech to choose from. Lets hope he figures something good out
>>26147159Those are the only two I don't like. One talks about ourselves too much, and the other comes across as too flip. I mean, look at how that attitude has worked so far.
>>26147212I could try to throw some puns in.
>>26147212I suppose you're right.I'm gonna chill off the speech bits for the night, I'm not the in right mindset
"So, things have been getting more human-like over time? Fascinating. We don't have records going nearly that far back. But, yeah, time's kind of a jerk. Sorry for going off on you earlier, you're the one who should be more upset right now, what with all this." You say. "In the end, you are where you are. But you have a choice, right here and right now. You can let things get worse, or you can allow others to get better. You might be surprised what humans can do with a bit of allowance and help."She scowls and shakes her head. "I...I can't." She sighs. "Aside from the fact that I'm currently trapped in this form, I just..." She looks at the map. "What would you have me do? You expect me to be some advisor, or living record of my age?" She shakes her head. "I am of the Divine.""I'm trying to save that Divinity." You say. "That God of yours, there are the souls of those who did not join in...to whatever it is that is in the city and surrounding Ice. I have found a way to save some of them from their undeath and continue their cycle, if you'll help. I need a way to call them to particular places without calling the Things outside. I know of one area where they are, of you can help me find more.(cont)
>>26147233Contrary to popular belief, puns are not the answer to everything.
>>26147247"The Orcs have been living with the horrors that your race created, and have ended up emulating some of the worst aspects of YOUR civilization. You can help this." You say.She shrugs and looks out the window. "Why should I care? I didn't vote for the God plan, and the rest are just Base or Beasts. They don't even have souls." She looks at you. "Or maybe not..." She sneers. "Probably stole those from us, somehow...or a dragon thing." She shakes her head. "You're asking me to live in a world that repulses me. I don't..." She sniffs again. "I want to live with my Daddy and Mommy. Visit Uncle and go to University and date Par'tall when he finishes his internship." She scowls at the world and then at you, tears dripping from her eyes. "I wish you had let me die." She's biting her lip and she looks sick when she says it. It's not that she doesn't mean it, but this isn't like the Purist Boy, this girl literally has nothing, no idea of what to do, no skill set that matches this world, and the only things that she has to hold on to are about to be incinerated. She's bitter and scared, and unlike you, or the Dawnchasers, or any of the people you've met who've been worth a damn. There's no one to even pretend that they care for her, and even if you and the Dawnchasers tried. There's no part of her that wouldn't believe you to be Base or Beasts. She's not broken. She's as irrevocably warped as the flesh she's in.
>>26147178I don't even particularly agree with that aspect. Advising her to deal with the loss of her entire species by trying to "keep moving" sounds too close to advocating denial or escapism. Even when we had to re-kill our mother, we had to face the fact at some point. We couldn't just move on.
>>26147247>>26147256Up North: The arc in which Echo displays his ability to twist the knife with every attempt we make to be a paladin.
>>26147256We have a luxury here we didn't have with the purist boy however. No bars.We can coil up next to her. Maybe even give her a hand on the shoulder."I couldn't have let you die. You just said you wanted to live. Not live here, but to live."
>>26147256"Tell me something, do the Crafters know where souls come from?"
(We are on page 8, might wanna make a new thread soon.)
>>26147256Are you familiar with the concept of the Light?
>>26147282well, normally I'd advocate a period of mourning, yes, but she literally needs to keep moving for like, a day. Two days. Or she'll explode.
You try to coil up next to her, but she almost involuntarily flinches away. But she lets you near her, but she recoils at your attempt to touch her. You let your hand drop and just stay next to her, watching the diorama of the world slowly turn."I couldn't have let you die. You just said you wanted to live. Not live here, but to live." A pause. "Tell me something, do the Crafters know where souls come from?" You ask."From our Divine Flesh." She says. It's late though, let me know when we're on 9.
>>26147427"If thats true then why do I have one? I have never met a crafter, nor has my mother, and I have seen my mother's soul. And I know I have one. It has been proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt."
>>26147427We're still on 8, for the time being.
>>26147256"I was in your position, once. No friends, no family, nowhere to go. But I've been blessed since then with people who care about me. People who gave me a chance.""I know you don't think very highly of us, and I suspect you dislike me in particular. But please, at least give us a chance to help you. Give this world a chance. It may not be what you remember, but I think it's worth it."
>>26147456Might also want to bring up the known fact the souls can be stored in gemstones, and continue to exist independent of any flesh whatsoever.
>>26147427hmm. Grief counseling is tricky. And we're still completely untrained. I feel like we missed a paladin boot camp at some point."So, there were no souls before the crafters? How did they come about? Why couldn't others get their own souls?"I hope convincing her other folk have souls might make her want to live in the world a bit more. I hope that is the right way to go about this.
"If thats true then why do I have one? I have never met a crafter, nor has my mother, and I have seen my mother's soul. And I know I have one. It has been proven to me beyond a shadow of a doubt." You say."You're of Dragon Flesh." She says. "Dragons are...different." She says.
>>26147503Yeah, they're arrogant fuckers aren't they? "The Be All And End All Of Creation" in their own minds.Tell me, you say you are of the Divine. What is that? I know of Dragons and Trolls and Rocs and Leviathans, but what is the Divine? And don't just say 'It's Divine" because that's just silly.
>>26147503"And what of the apes? Birds? Orcs, even. They all seem to be their own people, with their own souls.Look, I'm not trying to bother you about theology. I'm just trying to say that there are people out there. They're not the ones you knew, you'll never be able to replace them. But they're people, and they might not all be as bad as you think.
>>26147427"Well then, wouldn't my soul come from my own flesh by that logic? Same as with any human, or elf, or mer? Because make no mistake, I have a soul. I've seen others who had souls as well... but I don't like to remember the circumstances."
>>26147503"Then why do humans have souls?1 I have seen those captured in gems, felt their cries in a dragon's prison. Why do elves have them? The Orcs? Why do those of the Phoenix do? No, your flesh is no more divine then mine. It is merely different. If you were truly divine your kin wouldn't be slaves to the Land Spirit they became part of. They would truly be gods. Instead of the monsters they are in the Cathedrel."
Wait, she expressed dismay at being trapped in that shape. Couldn't Mage help with that?
>>26147503"And the humans whose souls I've seen trapped in gems, or bound to bits of wall by the so-called "god" Citadel?""No doubt, your civilization did great things. But I hope you'll give us a chance. We're not the same, and we're not perfect. Light knows we're FAR from perfect. But we're working on it."Then perhaps >>26147497Or something like it.
"So, there were no souls before the crafters or Dragons? How did they come about? Why couldn't others get their own souls?" You ask.She shrugs. "They weren't real souls. That's what the Truth of the Flesh has told us." She shakes her head."Tell me, you say you are of the Divine. What is that? I know of Dragons and Trolls and Rocs and Leviathans, but what is the Divine? And don't just say 'It's Divine" because that's just silly.""Then...I...I guess I'm silly." She shakes her head. "Only the Divine have the ability to understand the Divide." She shrugs and moves the map to see the Ice Sea."Are you familiar with the concept of the Light?" You ask.She frowns and looks up at you and eyebrow raised. "Wait...that cult still exists?" She asks and then laughs. "Change is inevitable? Charity and Forgiveness are Virtues? That slave-loving nonsense? Is that the same Light?"
>>26147602we COULD swing her by another doctor while we're here to get her legs switched out. If any still exist.Which they may.In the menagerie. And it would listen to her orders.
>>26147616"Yep. Turned out change was inevitable.Would you be interested in some charity and forgiveness? There are places you can live, either with or away from us. Depending on preference."
>>26147616Big smile."Hey, we have tenure! Yeah, that's the one. Glad to see we were just as insane back in the day. See, there's something that hasn't changed!"
>>26147616*show her our symbol*"Little more than a cult now, very fond of brillite"*tap Beacon against the floor*
>>26147616Laugh."Its good to hear that its that old. Yes that Light. Its a wonder if survived longer then the Crafters have isn't it? A true miracle."
>>26147686"Although that might just be me"
>>26147687no, it didn't survive longer than the crafters. One's right here.
>>26147616We need a "The Light was Right" stencil in circulation. Also we hit page 9.
>>26147702One survivor does not a civilization make.
>>26147616"That cult? Yes, it's survived thousands of years. Co-opted by a rather nasty land spirit called Citadel for a while, and it's lost most of its centralize leadership, but yes.""Tell me more about this Truth of the Flesh. It sounds eerily similar to what a lot of the land spirits are selling to ensnare and enslave what you'd call the "base" races."
The fact that the Light has been pretty consistent in it's teachings for thousands of years tells me that it's probably got someone or something maintaining that consistency.
>>26147503"But I've seen souls. I've seen human souls, sealed in gems, and metal, and rock. They're tangible things - You can reach out and touch them. And I honestly believe that anything which has a soul deserves a chance. You feel like you've had your chance taken away, and, well, I'd like to say I know what you're going through, but I don't. When I came to this city, I decided very quickly that I didn't like the Crafters, but this has provided me with some much needed perspective - Just because a few of you went too far doesn't mean that you deserve what's happened here. But remember, it's always darkest just before the dawn. I've seen people who don't think they have anything worth living for, and there's one thing I know: They're always wrong. There's *always* something worth living for. Even if it's just a tiny thing like a warm rock to lie on, or something huge like a family. Just think about what you want, and on the way to getting it, you'll find a myriad of other things that make you want to keep going."
>>26147733Still rather uplifting
Do you guys think that mentioning that some people whom she knew could be skittering about in the ruins as undead, or that her loved ones' souls are being held by the land spirit could motivate her to try to help? Or would that make things worse? She seems to be closest to regular people in the 21st century (plus some institutionalized racism and superiority) college student in mentality. And perhaps not the most upstanding or studious type either. How do you motivate someone like that to pick up arms and become an Adventurer after she discovered that she may have no high standard of living or loved ones left?
>>26147745perhaps add on that you touched crafter souls as well and they felt no different.
>>26147749Don’t forget.Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you.As long as you remember her,you are not alone.
>>26147733> the entire quest was just a plot by Light/Nyarlahotep to defeat competitor gods
>>26147772>by being nice
>>26147754Maybe >>26147732 is on the right track? Maybe the fall of the Crafters wasn't the result of an accident or hubris.Land spirits kill off species all the time, according to Dagda. It would be easy, if one was already close to it.
>>26147788They WERE supposedly trying to ascend to godhood. The Ice Man cometh?
You laugh. "Hey, we have tenure! Yeah, that's the one. Its good to hear that its that old. Yeah, that's the one." You show her your Medallion. "It's a little bit more than a cult now. They're very fond of brillitite. Glad to see we were just as insane back in the day. See, there's something that hasn't changed! Its a wonder if survived longer then the Crafters have isn't it? A true miracle."She scowls. "It didn't out survive the Crafters." She sneers. "Fine. I am of the Crafters Divine. My flesh is the holiest of creations and the grandest of all things. I WONT let my civilization be BEATEN by a silly little slave-fucking cult!" She turns to look at you. "I will hate you until your grave is dust, and all that remember you are buried. I will be the last one to ever know you existed and I will DANCE where you are buried!" She leaves the room. "Now COME ON....we get to the Tower of Obedience we can call the Base and Beasts and cleanse them from MY city. But FIRST we stop by my Uncle's menagerie to FIX me. And I'm KEEPING my Platform, it's the ONE thing here that's TRULY loyal. "You swear you hear the platform chirp in response.Okay, so...spite is probably not the best reason to keep living, but beggars can't be choosers.
>>26147809"Given the fact that I'm functionally immortal, let's hope it's a long and healthy hate."
>>26147809"Wonderful, I'll look forward to you outliving me. We can play card games as you wait for me to die. We'll swing by your uncle's on the way out of town, and pick you up a... er... What did crafters have, in their normal state? I've never seen one."

>>26148095She's decided that life is worth living for the sole purpose of spiting the world, and primarily, Ssen. That's going beyond acceptance.
oh this is perfect, we are heading to the Staff, to cleanse the souls of those who remain. At least I think thats where the Tower of Obediance is.
"Wonderful, I'll look forward to you outliving me. We can play card games as you wait for me to die, let's hope it's a long and healthy hate." You say."Now, we'll swing by your uncle's on the way out of town, and pick you up a... er... What did crafters have, in their normal state? I've never seen one.""No, we're going to Uncle's FIRST." She snaps. "I KNOW what I'm doing, and it won't take long. Stupid fucking dragon-bastard cultist spawn..." She mutters as she walks by you."It's okay. I know you're only trying to uphold the pride of your people. I forgive you. I'm just happy you're still alive and well, and that you've found a reason to go on living. That was all I wanted for you."Her response is to flip you off.You both head back to the Storage Room and see a note, the others have the barrels ready and are waiting for you in the lobby.Heading there you see that they've cobbled together a crude cart, and there's six barrels in there."Hey, so she's with us now?" Mage says."Hmph, I suppose all of you are members of that Cult as well?" She says."What cult?" Tricia asks."That stupid 'Light' thing." Nikai snaps. "It was stupid back in my day and I bet it still is!""His Light shined all the way back during the Crafter's time?" Lea's eyes shoot up and she laughs a little. "Oh, oh that's marvelous!""Oh spare me." She grumbles.Lea looks at you and you wink back at her.Mage peeks his head out the door and then closes it again. "We must have been out longer than we thought." He says. "It's nearly dawn. We wait an hour or two and it'll be daylight.""Morning prayer and meditation." Nikai says.(cont)
>>26147809"You kinda sound like a dragon I know."
>>26148156"The orcs should still be there, right?" Tricia asks."They said three days." Peri says. You all wait an hour. Nikai is at least impressed with Lightmare. She goes on about how NIghtmares were Crafter creations and how they improved the Tundra Hind, Horse, and this animal that is probably extinct, all in one creature.Lea is amused, and a little saddened by Nikai's new passion for living. However, she's hoping that it actually works for her. "The Speaker Grant was one of His Light's greatest prophets and wrote many teachings, and he was famously known for his day long rants about how much he hated His Light." She smiles. "The opposite of Love is Indifference. That man who ran Shadow Company was a man who had no faith and was the stronger for it." She grins and you see her eye crinkle. "Nikai hates His Light with such a passion that I don't doubt she'll become one of His most learned scholars. Maybe she can go plot His downfall with Old One." She giggles. "Oh that's marvelously awful."Dawn comes and Peri scouts out to confirm that, indeed, the Hounds and Headhunters have all gone into the Cathedral to sing with the Choir. You open the doors and, with Nikai as a guide, quietly move Lightmare through the city."First stop my Uncle's house. You wait outside, and I'll go in and come back out." She says."Can't we wait inside?" Mage asks."No. No room for the horse, and I'm not letting you or the Orc Beasts defile more of my ruined home than you have to." She says."So, you're okay with us bombing the City and the Ice God?" Peri asks.Nikai shrugs. "Fuck the Ice God, I didn't vote for it. As for the City, eh, it's a dump now. Screw it all. I'm going to fix my body, grab some of uncle's jewelry, and get the hell out of here after you fail at doing your Light Cult crap." Roll 1d20
>>26148151yeah, we're cleansing the souls at the tower of obedience, which is where the staff is.This may or may not put the staff directly into our new super enemy's hands.Let's be careful with that. And letting her get her hands on the doctor, careful with that too. No need for her to go all A-team on our ass with meat.
