You are Christopher Phillips, previously just another teenage nerd living in a small English town, and a lot of things have changed in your life since you died. Not all of those changes have been for the better. You’re currently standing in the middle of a small crowd of people, the followers and hangers-on of Isabella Donaldson, most popular girl in school, and apparently someone who’s involved with some seriously dark powers. A deal with her might get those dark powers off your back. Or end up binding you to them. But if you can get power over her, it might be worth the risk.Your original plan for dealing with Isabella was to bind her into a Fae contract, to stop her taking control of you and your friends. That’s probably out of the question now, though. Avril Dunway, one of the few people at this school who you trusted, and who helped and trusted you in return, was the linchpin of that plan. You betrayed her trust, in a brutal and traumatising way, and it seems the only way to begin regaining her trust (and possibly acquire more control over your unnatural hungers) is a dangerous, painful ritual that involves giving up a part of your soul to a powerful Fae spirit. You’re still not sure what to think of that plan. Still, it’s the only way she could think of to forge a truly unbreakable promise that you wouldn’t hurt her like that again. She told you that if you’re serious about wanting to change, you should go out into the forest tonight, to the oldest tree in the woods.
>>25974095First, though, you want to hear what Isabella has to say. It looks like she wants you to open the negotiations, though.“Well, Chris? You’ve said there are things you want from me, but I’m not a mind-reader.” She chuckles, and her gang obediently laugh along with her, as if she’d made a marvellous joke. “I can promise you fame, wealth, pleasure. A new girl every night, or that one girl you’ve been chasing, yours forever. A place at my right hand side. I can promise you that you’ll never worry about anything, ever again. What’ll it be? What do you want?”Well? What *do* you want?((Archives at http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Monsterhearts%20Quest. Thread 5 is archived at http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/25932055/.))
Pretty sure we don't actually want anything. Do we?
>>25974099We want to know who wants our blood and why. We want to get out of here without promising her anything, but she doesn't need to know that.Whether she tells us now or plays coy some more, we walk away with an "I don't think you have anything I want after all."
>>25974246I concur, I don't want a deal with Isabella.
>>25974249Last line would be a good way to give her ego a blow without inciting open war (I hope).
At the moment there's only two things we actually need from her, knowledge of whether or not she had a role in bringing us back to life, and some way to keep her off our backs while we solidify our power base. We don't have anything we can safely offer her, so we might have to go with a seduction or something to get anything out of her if we really want to. Maybe ask for a solo meet-up later to determine if we should thank her for something?
>>25974323>>25974329maybe lure her in with a seduction or tease then blow her off by playing coy with a inference of meeting her later?
We dont want to deal with her nor anything of the sort, she is bad news. Then again chicks dig insensitive guys, or so I've heard.
"Surprisingly, there isn't much I want and I've realised I am capable of getting the few things I could want by myself. I definetly don't need to shake my hand with a tentacle for that."What do we even want, that she could give us? If not nothing, then herself is the only other answer I can think of, and I doubt she'd give herself in the way we want her.
>>25974329>whether or not she had a role in bringing us back to lifeThat is a interesting and feasible idea. Well done, I at least hadn't considered that.On the other hand, I don't think she would tell us about how to divert her, we'll have to figure that out on our own, maybe offering to do a task then letting it lapse but that is a pretty obvious ploy.
>>25974411Damnit. Slowpoked by life.
>>25974419But we don't actually want *her* either, if that happens she might puppet us by controlling our meetups in the case that we develop a hunger for her.
>>25974461I wouldn't mind getting her. And we have other hungers we can fulfill.
>>25974477I'm not sure it works that way (not that I have any evidence). I don't think that fulfilling others allows us to neglect one.
>>25974411"I want a bit of information, Isabella. I'm sure you can indulge my curiosity for a few brief questions, right?""Perhaps." She smiles again, thin and predatory. "That depends very much on what sort of questions they are. And on what I'm getting out of this deal. An exchange, perhaps. You ask me three questions, and then I ask you three. Does that sound fair to you? I certainly wouldn't want to offer you something where you weren't getting a fair deal."There's another brief round of laughter from her followers, but it dies out after Isabella gives them a sharp glance.Take the deal. Ask her three questions. ((Also submit questions))Walk awaySuggest a counter-offer
>>25974535"Three? So you already have three things you want to ask me? That's not one of my questions but I must admit I'm curious about your curiosity. But I reckon we can go one at a time."
>>25974535>inb4 vote-splitting between counter offer and taking the deal results in us walking away
>>25974571I like this anon idea. I'll with him.
>>25974535[X] "Just one is enough for now."-[X] "What is it that you want to badly, for you to make a deal with and shake your hadn with a tentacle?"
>>25974571We're one wise-cracking little fucker, aren't we?
>>25974607It could have been a future vision. If she haven't done the deal yet, she probably will now that we talked about it.This is a vote against this idea.
A question: is there anything stopping either Isabella or us from lying when answering these questions? If there's nothing preventing lies, we can't trust her answers, and if there is something preventing lies, we don't want to give her one free question.
>>25974535"Where did you get the idea we have three questions? Or is it you that has three questions?"
>>25974635We don't know.
>>25974535AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS
>>25974674"That's a very interesting deal. It's nice to know that you have three things you want to ask me. Unfortunately, I don't have three questions for you, so I don't think that deal works. Maybe we can go one at a time?"Isabella smiles. "I thought your curiosity extended a little further than that. But very well. One question each. And if you're still curious at that point, well... we can keep going until you feel you've had enough." There's a certain seductive quality to her voice, and you remember not to look into her eyes. Your hungers are bubbling up inside you, reminding you how long it's been since you fed properly.((Vote for whatever question you want to ask.))
>>25974751What are we?
>>25974751Fine, but if you can't answer my questions, I don't answer yours. Why does someone want our blood?
>>25974751what is the thing with tentacles?
>>25974751"Who wants my blood?">>25974767Technical terms are largely immaterial, if she even knows.
>>25974774This one is good.
"What are you?"
>>25974751what is so important to you that you'd shake hands with a tenticle
>>25974774like this stipulation,.Im more curious about mr not cuthulu
>>25974816The stipulation is good. I also vote that we lie our ass off and take everything she tells us with a grain of salt.
>>25974751"Just what did you give me the night we kissed that made my blood so much more valuable? I mean, Jason even offered you as my slave for a drop of it."
>>25974827Yep, lie lie lie, don't tell her a single grain of truth.
>>25974827Or tell her the truth in a way that tells her nothingYou know, the same way a djiin fucks over wishes
>>25974827She probably has some way to detect a lie.
>>25974841This is probably safer, but when it isn't feasible, we lie.>>25974847Then why did we even agree to this?
>>25974853Beats me, I didn't vote for it. We kind of got railroaded a bit I think, probably accidentally, but largely by her. Oh well, full speed ahead. That worked with her the last time.
>>25974889Some people thought that the Fae were getting to strong a hold on use so they wanted to strike a deal with the devil. In this case, the devil is a high school bitch.
>>25974928Aren't most ?
>>25974928I never got that logic either; neither faction is completely manipulable by us.Isabella is:A Bitch.Has no loyalty to us.Will backstab us to her demon thing as soon as convenient. In league with a guy who we beat up and probably hates us.>>25974928>>25974986Bedazzled much
>>25975019So whats our battle plan guys?
Lying is probably going to end badly, since we're dealing with the supernatural, and Isabella sounded like she invoked a Bargain.>>25974889We weren't railroaded, people asked for this because they thought that a deal with a demon would be better than one with a Fae, and that Isabella could be seduced or otherwise made to become an ally.
>>25975019At least Avril loved us damn near unconditionally until we raped her. I wasn't around for that decision and wish I could have done something to stop it. She was going to introduce us to her dad for Odin's sake!
>>25975062Ask the guy that thought he could charm Isabella just with words and our Persuasion, not taking into account that she probably has defenses against that sort of thing.
>>25975079He seemed very Prideful
>>25975062>>25975069Agreed, I say we either dice with Isabella or not, then we ditch her asap, shes gonna be a frenemy at best, and later we go to the tree and make amends with people who might actually have feeling and/or loyalty to us.
>>25975122By dice, I am refering to this question game.
>>25975122Maybe one or two questions but that is it. Then go to the tree and try our best to make up with the people who like us.
>>25975122Yeah. We give Isabella as little as possible and then split.
>>25975122Im up for trying to cheat the system with isabella, telling the truth in a way that a djiin would grant wishes.Make amends with the great stag man
>>25974877"Alright. Just as long as if you can't answer my questions, I don't answer yours."She chuckles. "Fairness, always with the fairness. Very well. Ask away.""Why does someone want my blood?"You have the brief pleasure of seeing Isabella's eyes widen in surprise, then she gives you a long, calculating look. "Oh, you are an interesting one. I should have been paying attention to you earlier. Like I said, though, I'm not a mind reader. Particularly not when it comes to... certain things. I can make educated guesses, of course. You're something new around here, something unusual. And blood is power. Not just power over you. Whatever it is that makes you who you are now, it's running through your blood. That would be interesting to quite a lot of people. My turn now, I think." She purses her lips and muses for a moment. "So many questions... choices, choices. Why do you keep fighting, Chris? You could have so much. It's such a little choice. Give in, just once, and have everything you ever wanted. What do you think you're fighting for?"
>>25975193For TRUTH JUSTICE AND THE AMERICAN WAY
>>25975193She didn't know the answer to our question, she guessed. We don't have to answer, by the rule she just agreed to. We waltz out of here now.
>>25975193Also thats technically two questionsRealisticaly. because i just dont like her or because i want to
>>25975193"As you made an educated guess, I shall make my own. I'd guess you can figure out my reasons yourself." walk off
>>25975203This OH GOD THIS
>>25975193There's no reason not to answer this one truthfully. "I like to maintain my own control. There's really nothing more to it than that." However, her answer was kind of shit so preface it: "That wasn't really much of an answer. But this is a simple one, so I'll pay ahead of time for my next question."
>>25975234But we're british.
>>25975193"Maybe I like being the outsider, being part of a group doesn't seem like my thing."
>>25975242we don't have to give her information, so we shouldn't give her information. back out now
>>25975267This is the kind of attitude that picks the Darkest Self for shits and giggles, and puts us in shit situations.
>>25975193What would all that mean if I hadn't lifted a hand to get it? I keep fighting because I want to prove that I deserve every last bit of what's Mine.
>>25975242Yeah, this seems about right. But do we even have a next question?
>>25975267truth justice and a good cup of tea?
>>25975279"Why do you keep fighting?" Perhaps.
>>25975193>>25975193It's what I am. You see, my old life didn't go as planned so I've got a lot to catch up to.
>>25975279((If you'd like to stick around and ask more questions, feel free to submit another question straight away, it cuts down on the number of separate prompts and amount of filler in the thread.))
>>25975259but in seriousness,this
>>25975193I fight for what is Mine. since you didn't actually give me an answer, I'll take one from you and be done. What do you fear, that drives you to do the things you do?
>>25975301What is the thing with the tentacles
>>25975242This one does seem about right. But do we even have another question? Maybe if we give her that one free we can get another string on her.
>>25975336If she didn't know about the blood she probably doesn't know this yet. No sense asking.
>>25975246hmmm in hindsight, this alsoand walk away like a bawss
>>25975301>>25975301Sounds good."Is there something we all need to fear?"Let's get the holy symbol and mysterious elder council claptrap sorted out.
>>25975301Okay, so.... four votes for telling her to guess for herself and leaving. Three votes for >>25975242, three for >>25975246 - I think those two can be melded together well enough to produce a good response from Chris. No consensus on what to ask her yet, and a few votes saying 'answer her question and leave'. General agreement that 'I don't know what that weird tentacled thing is thinking' doesn't really comprise a full answer, which is fair. But considering the question, not all that surprising. I'll write up a response now, and while I'm doing that, you guys can come to consensus on what you're asking her next, or if you're just leaving.
>>25975338You're right. Let's say something like "that didn't answer my question, but I'll give you this for free then" to get the string. I like the idea of mentioning control though, if she's ever going to actually be useful to us then she ought to know what we like.
>>25975385vote for getting the fuck out of there
>>25975193Potentials, I'm not fond of asking but I may as well throw out some ideas.Who is your favorite in your group?Who would you rather have, Avril or me?Does Jason mind you passing out a invitations to us?Did Jason warn you about the wild hunt before he introduced you to his little friend?
>>25975386I'm all up for bravely running away. I mean walking.
>>25975385We specifically clarified that if she can't answer it doesn't count, so that's not a valid answer even though it was a hard question. Some form of "what do you want from us specifically" or "why do YOU keep fighting to get me?" would be my vote for question. That's something that it would be quite nice to know. But if leaving gets us a string that would be cool too.
>>25975385boss-walk out of there
>>25975398>Did Jason warn you about the wild hunt before he introduced you to his little friend? That may not have happened yet. Also, none of your questions seem very worthwhile and the second two reveal more to her than their answers would reveal to us.
>>25975386>wants to give a demon knowledge of what we likeu wot m8?
>>25975385Leave, but we need a parting comment to try and break up her group some and shut her down. Something like "I was going to ask who your favorite follower was, but it seems like that's too obvious."
>>25975385Let's walk away
>>25975428Fair enough, it was some ideas, can't think of any food ones otherwise.
>>25975431It's not something she can really use against us, you know?
>>25975457telling her we enjoy control is very easily used against us
>>25975385"That wasn't much of an answer, Isabella. An educated guess?"She shrugs a little. "I don't presume to know the motives of things like that. You have to remember that it may not even have a motive as we think of them. Still, I gave you the best answer I could give. Are you going to give me one?""Being part of a group just doesn't seem like my thing. I'd rather maintain my own control. There's not much more to it than that. You still owe me an answer, really. But I think I'll collect it later."You turn, and leave. Isabella's followers part calmly before you. >>25975669The forest is filled with towering, ancient trees. Leaf litter crackles underfoot with every step. It’s surprisingly quiet – you expected birdsong, or other people walking the woods, but the only sounds are the leaves shaking in the breeze, and your own heartbeat. It’s larger than you expected – larger than you thought this small patch of woodland was – and by the time you reach the great, towering oak tree you saw in your vision, it’s almost twilight. Even from a distance, you can see the man standing in front of it, dressed in a long tunic the colour of the leaves on the trees, and with a pair of massive antlers sprouting from his forehead. The closer you get, the larger he seems to loom. The oak tree must be ten feet wide or more, but his outstretched arms could easily encompass the whole trunk. By the time there are no more trees between you and the stag-antlered man, all you can do is look up and up at his stern, impassive face. There’s a good ten or fifteen yards between you, but it doesn’t seem like nearly far enough.((Cont.))
>>25975862He looks down at you, and you can see that his eyes are a solid black from corner to corner, no iris or white. His voice is like rolling thunder, or the creaking of an ancient oak. “I take it you know why you are here?” One massive arm sweeps out wide, and you follow his pointing hand to see Avril kneeling on the floor of the clearing, off to one side. Her head is bowed, her arms crossed over her apparently bare torso, and elaborate, spiralling green markings cover most of her visible skin. “You have broken deep and ancient pacts, mortal, and by your actions a Princess of the Fair Ones has suffered grievous harm. She has asked that you be granted a forgiveness you do not deserve. For her sake, I am willing to consider it. First, however, I would like to hear this from your own lips. Do you understand what you have done? And what are you willing to offer in atonement?”
This thread made me want to play my own game of monsterhearts and I got a lot of people interested in the game. Also, I like how the people who is participating on the quest now are all in favor of the deal while most of the people that were on the end of the thread yesterday were against it.Sage for off-topic.

>>25976319You step forward, and suddenly, for a fraction of a heartbeat, you understand. The man in front of you is a tiny fraction of what you’re dealing with. You can feel the life and power resonating throughout the entire forest, every branch and leaf, a single vast, nameless, timeless power, and for a moment you touch that enormous network of power, feeling it run through your entire body. You can feel a part of you tear as the spirit seizes your soul, pain like an electric shock flooding through you. Your hungers rise up, black and alien and inhuman, overrunning your mind, and then they too tear and scream. You stumble and fall forward, your hands striking the soft dirt of the forest floor. You feel a hollow numbness inside of you, but also calmness. The hungers in the pit of your stomach haven’t vanished, but they feel diminished, paler. You look down at your hands, and see that your fingernails are the light green of a new leaf. You slowly climb to your feet, looking up at the great, stag-antlered man, vaguely remembering that moment of realisation that he encompasses but a fraction of the great spirit you’re now bound to. Looking to the side, you see that Avril has raised her head. Tears run down her face, but it looks like she’s smiling, too.Is there anything you want to do or say, or would you rather head back home? It's starting to get dark.

Then you simply say, "Thank you, sir"You turn to Avril. "I hope this is enough of an apology, because I don't know what else I can do to say I'm sorry."She gives you a small, slightly sad smile. "It's a start, at least. And I'm sure there's more we can think of." Something seems to occur to her, and she giggles. It's the first time you've heard her laugh since Saturday. "You know, technically you're my subordinate now, as a lower-ranking member of the Court. That's going to be interesting to sort out. But... not right now. I still need a little time, okay?" She gets up. You were right - apart from the wide, abstract green markings all over her body, she's not wearing anything. "I'll see you at school tomorrow, Chris. Good night."You head home. Your mother meets you at the door, demanding to know where you've been. She dropped by the library on her way back from work, figuring she'd pick you up, but you weren't there, and you weren't at home. You weren't picking up on your phone, either. What do you want to tell her?

It's filled with wrecked tables, scattered chairs. Jill is standing in front of you, wearing a long red dress. She's covered in blood, head to toe. She raises a hand towards you, and says, with tears in her eyes, "It's all your fault." You're thrown into the air. You fall, and you can see a sharp, broken pole beneath you. You're in your room, sitting on your bed. Masami is in your arms. You glance away for a moment, and she leans forward with a mouth suddenly filled with pointed, razor-sharp teeth, and takes a bite out of your face. You're standing in a forest, somewhere. It's green and lively, not the forest you were walking through earlier. Avril is dressed in a long, elaborate green dress, holding a bouquet of flowers. She says "A commoner like you? How did you really expect this to end?" She turns and walks towards a large gathering of people, who part down the middle to admit her. Her father stands at the end, shaking the hand of an impossibly handsome man in an elaborate suit, with a thin golden crown on his head. You're lying on a cold table, strapped down. >>25977750Take a shower, first. Also begin to suspect that all of our friends are involved in the supernatural now.Jill is a telekinetic, Masumi is possibly a mermaid of the deadly variety, and apparently we're just a curiosity for the eldritch demon rather than a tool.At least we know how all the Bad Ends will go if we keep screwing up. We can at least be thankful for that.>>25977860>serious Carrie vibesYeah, same here. Maybe we should skip the Dance and go have our own fun with Jill and Avril to avoid the bucket of pig's blood that's waiting for her.
>>25977899I'm suspecting some type of poltergeist/possessed theme myself.
>>25977899Funnily enough I think masumi is a construct of sorts. Is that possible??
>>25978060yes, anything is possible.
>>25978060Yes. Japanese folklore has puppets, tools, and other constructed objects acquiring a critical mass of soul and becoming their own sentient entities after a length of time.In the setting? No idea.
>>25978113And that is the scariest bit
>>25978060Why not. Quite a few hints. If you go with flesh-eating and avoiding swimming in public while loving swimming, you could suspect mermaid (or I suppose Selkie?). Any number of things though. The trio necklace still is quite up for debate as well, though various Birth/Life/Death or Three Fates or whatever else have been noted. >>25978296Then we may be ill-advised to turn our backs on her. Or not.>>25978274Actually, that is interesting. I can't remember if any might have been oracular or such either, though wikipedia mentions some foreknowledge for them too. And Sirens are Greek-ish, but there are almost certainly various things to start being equivalent to.
>>25978396She would have poured out the water in her head and been paralysed, hence the laughter of her family. She's totally a kappa.
>>25977949((Hmmm. Going over my notes I've discovered that the schedule for Thursday is messed up a little. Oh well. Your History teacher must have been off ill last Thursday. Jason is still off school). Then you have Biology, P.E and finally English after lunch. You don't have any classes with Avril, but you can probably track her down at lunchtime. Do you want to try and say anything to Jill about the dream you had last night? If so, what?(The event you saw in your dream, and in your previous visions, is probably the leavers' do, a large dance and party thrown for the Year 11 students (your year) to celebrate the end of their school year and give them a bit of a party before they start in on their GCSEs. That won't be for just under a month yet, in early May.)
>>25978416((Sorry for the massive delay in this post, guys. Some slight connection troubles again. Should be fine now.))
>>25978425Don't worry, just take your time as you need it and don't feel pressured.>>25978416I think we should give Avril some space, maybe let her make the first contact despite how uncertain we may be.Jill? I'm not sure.
>>25978416I don't think we need to talk to Jill about our nightmare, we just need to be a stabilizing influence on her. We don't want her to glip out and start a psychic murder spree. She's already mentioned that stuff shakes around her sometimes- we should approach the idea that this might not be the devil's influence, but Jill's. Maybe she'd like to try some experimentation with us, for the sake of science? If need be, we can mention that we've seen some weirder stuff that was almost certainly the work of the devil, or at least a devil, and that what she's mentioned sounds nothing like that.
Hmm. Do we have any super hero stories or the like we could loan her with said supers being ones who seem a bit cursed with power but manage to make the best of it and otherwise manage to be decent people despite setbacks and the occasional failure?Though how to help have them not get confiscated may be a different issue. Also, may be worth it to mention we fell asleep thinking about what could go wrong and had horrible nightmares, and prompt her to do something to cheer the both of us up.
>>25978519You know, I wonder if, like many hierarchies, someone is now responsible for any breaches in fae etiquette we may make. Like Avril or her father. And I imagine Avril is still trying to make sense of how a fae court induction will play into things.
>>25978416((Okay, writing now.))
>>25978606I think we should move forward on the understanding that it would be on our head. What worries me about jill is that in the vision she blamed us; was that for helping her with her powers, introducing her to be more social or for not stopping what happened (the blood)
>>25978661I'm working off the (hopeful) assumption that what we saw was all potentially possible, at least if things went wrong. Or a heavy misunderstanding of something likely to happen (maybe she intentionally doused herself with paint, dunno). And that, as such, it could be for any and/or all of those reasons you mentioned.
>>25978661Remember the vision when she saw us kissing Avril? Yeah, we're fucked.
>>25978650You try to focus on being a calming influence for Jill. She's still a little nervous that her mother will somehow uncover her new phone, and apparently she had another 'incident' last night, smashing a mirror in her room. You try to reassure her that it doesn't make her a bad person. You suggest to Jill that a little bit of experimenting might help her figure out exactly what she can do with these powers. She's nervous, but agrees to meet you after school. She suggests the park - sticks and stones should make good test subjects, and there won't be many other people nearby like there might be at the library.Isabella seems to still be avoiding you a little in Biology. She doesn't look nearly as smug as she did on Monday, though. Just before the end of class, everyone is called to the school hall for an emergency assembly.A student you don't know, Sally Chambers, has gone missing. She didn't come home last night, and her parents are quite worried. If anyone knows where she's gone, the school administration would like them to come forward. Sally's picture is displayed on a large projector screen. You think you might have seen her in passing at Isabella's party, or at school, but you didn't know her.P.E. is fairly dull. >>25978897Maybe we should let her know we're pusrueing Avril romantically? At the moment Jill is, far, far too damaged for us to actually pursue. "On the surface, everyone's very polite, very congenial. Everyone wants to be your friend. And they're all holding knives behind their backs. There's a thousand and one different agendas - you think human courts were bad, try one where the major players plan on the scale of centuries. And most of them have a couple of contradictory plans running. My mother was... quite close to human. I can understand how you think. A lot of the things you might end up dealing with, even the ones that look like you or me, they're not human. I know that sounds kind of trite, but I don't just mean that they're Fae, I mean that they don't think like you think. Even my father... I don't understand him, a lot of the time. And that's just within our court. The whole Seelie/Unseelie thing is a bit of an oversimplification, but there's a couple of... I guess, factions is the closest way of putting it. Competing philosophies. Some of the conflict is just massive debates, or someone constructing a work of art whose beauty will show their essential rightness. Some of it is blades and teeth and claws."((Cont.))
>>25979852“Basically, court is... well, going to school for a few years is a nice change, a really nice change. Isabella wouldn’t hold a candle to some of the things I used to deal with.”“Um. I hope this isn’t rude, but... if your father is that, well, inhuman... How is this binding going to end up affecting me?”Avril glances at your nails. “Hopefully, that’ll be the worst of it. You’re unlikely to get any sort of conscious bleedthrough from my father’s mind. Your thoughts and his are just fundamentally incompatible. You might find your instincts changing a little, though. He took a good chunk out of your hungers – he couldn’t take all of them without taking your entire soul, but he did what he could – and something’s going to end up replacing them. Might just be your human habits coming back, but it might be something from him. I can’t tell what, not this early. Give it a few decades. Powerful spirits don’t operate on the sort of time scale you’re used to. If anything else... weird starts happening, let me know.”Is there anything else you want to talk to Avril about? Your last class of the day will be English, which you don't share with anyone you know. Then after school you're meant to be meeting Jill.
Ask her why she bound herself so soon, without knowing Chris that well.

>>25979890Definitely talk about the dream. It was all pretty worrisome. Also, mention the tentacle thing from both dreams and ask how it compares to the things she used to deal with.We could try to find out why her mother was so close to human.
>>25979890Tell her what we suspect Jill's powers are, and that we're going to experiment with them after school. Also about the thing that Isabella is making a deal with; while it wants us, Isabella is probably still after Avril, and if a bunch of mundane mooks and Jason could catch Avril, Isabella with her resources could do better. And thank Avril for this second chance. Call her "my Lady", see if she likes it.

>>25980472((Heh. Already in there, don't worry. Should be done soon. Need to find a good place to break it between the two posts.))
>>25980521“You know, I don’t feel too bothered about English class right now. Would you like to stay and talk a while, My Lady?”Avril laughs, long pure peals of laughter. It’s a wonderful sound. “My Lady. That sounds nice. Although technically it’s ‘Your Highness’. Princess and all, remember. Or you could just keep calling me ‘Avril’. I don’t mind. And yeah, I’d love to cut class and chat.”“So... you said Fae tend to work on the scale of decades? Does that include you? I mean... how old are you, really?”“Dammit, Chris, don’t you know it’s rude to ask a lady her age?” Avril sighs. “I’m not much older than I look. Time in the court is a bit weird anyway, but I don’t think I’m seventeen yet. I’ve probably got a long life ahead of me, though. So do you, though. It’s not like you have to worry about dying of old age. You’re already dead. And father’s influence should keep you from...” She blanches a little. “You know. Rotting. Hopefully. If you spot anything like that, though, give me a heads up *before*it gets to be an issue?”“Uh. Okay. I’ll keep an eye open for that. Talking of worrying things, I had this dream. Well. This nightmare. A couple of nightmares, actually, but one of them was about you.” You give Avril a brief rundown of the nightmare you had, and she frowns.“An arranged marriage? Father wouldn’t do that to me. I think. He’d have to know I’d be kicking and screaming the whole way.” She sighs again.((Cont.))
>>25980627“Don’t worry about it, Chris. Hell, even if he did try and force me into something I wouldn’t leave you behind. We’re a court of fertility and growth, after all.”“Um. Wait, so if we...”“Not without your permission, Chris. That’d just be rude. But I wouldn’t marry anyone who’d try to keep me apart from you, no matter how politically expedient it’d be for my father.”“Right. Oh, one other thing. There’s this... thing. Kind of amorphous, covered in tentacles. It keeps popping up in my dreams. I think it’s the thing Jason was working for, that wanted my blood.” You give her a brief description of your dreams about it, Jason, and Isabella.Avril looks a lot more worried now. “Corruptor. Not exactly a spirit, not exactly a demon. It’s complicated. They’re basically beings of pure poison and destruction. They like to break down people, relationships, societies, anything wholesome or good. One backing a drug dealer makes far too much sense. I’m not sure what it would want with your blood, but it can’t be good.”“Is it... deal-able with? How much of a threat is it?”“Indirect, mostly. It’ll work through agents – that way, even if they fail, they end up a bit more indebted to it and a bit more corrupted themselves. That way it can spread its influence without exposing itself to danger. Getting it to give up will be tricky, though. You’d have to be more effort than you’re worth.”School is going to be ending soon. Do you want to get anything before you meet Jill?
>>25980655nah lets just meet Jill, Avril's been a great help and we're slowly but surely making things up to her. Let's see how we can help Jill.
>>25980655Hold her hand. Get on our knees and kiss and her hand while saying "I'll be leaving now your highness".Then go meet with Jill. Also, after the whole soul thing we don't need to worry that much about being on control right? We still need and hunger for it but we can be less controlling right?
>>25980655Tell Avril about Jill's developing powers (she's still going to those tutoring sessions so a heads-up of possible "Blowout soon, fellow STALKER!" is just common courtesy), and pick up a couple plastic spoons. Jill can move up to metal spoons when her power is more under control.
>>25980655invite Avril along, text Jill is she agrees
>>25980735I think Avril is still averse to physical contact with us. Let's give her more time before we touch her.
>>25980655((Also, it's 3am, and even if it is Saturday tomorrow, that's still quite late. Next story post will be the last, and then I'll stick around to answer questions. >>25980735At the moment we should really want to control ourselves and our situation. Controlling others is nice and all but it does no good if you snap and ruin all your hard work ya know?
>>25980741this, followed by >>25980742
>>25980888"Did Jill mention to you at any point that she could... move things?"Avril raises an eyebrow. "No. But I'm not all that surprised - that girl's got power. Is it going to be dangerous?""I don't know. I'm going to see if I can train her to keep it under control. I thought I'd warn you, what with the tutoring - and maybe you could come along, help out with the training?"Avril shakes her head. "There's nothing I could really do to help, except be an extra pair of hands to clean up any mess she makes. And we're still not that close - she trusts you, but she might be nervous about showing off around me. Have fun, and text me when you're done so I know you didn't end up with your head imploded or something."You pick up a big pack of value plastic spoons from the supermarket, figuring they'll be easier for Jill to practice with than sticks or rocks. When you get to the park, Jill is sitting on the bench, fidgeting a little. "Hi, Chris. Um. I'm still not sure if this is a good idea, but... it's better than smashing more mirrors, right?""That's right. Here, take this. I thought I'd get you something light to practice on." You pass her one of the plastic spoons. Jill puts it down on the bench, takes a deep breath, and concentrates. There's a static feeling in the air, a feeling of tension. The spoon shakes a little. Then it rocks from side to side. Then it suddenly shoots up high into the air, and clatters down about ten feet away.((Cont.))
>>25981050"Um... oops.""Don't worry about it, Jill. That's why we're practising, isn't it?""I guess so. Okay. Um, do you have another spoon?"You hand her another from the bag of spoons, and Jill sets carefully to work again. You pass about an hour like this, the two of you alone with a park bench and a bunch of plastic spoons scattered around you (sometimes in pieces, if Jill squeezes too hard). It should be strange, but you feel like this is almost normal for you, now. It's relaxing. In the back of your mind, you know that sooner or later the other shoe will drop. But for now, you try to enjoy the moment.

>>25981201But next thread is on sunday and I won't be here.I can't find any skin that could fit the hold hand thing and her collar. But all the family thing, liking water and eating our face. She could be a snake.
>>25981260All clues point to a flukeman from The X-Files.
So, wait. I thought this was a monstergirl fetish quest but the OP doesn't look like that. Is it worth reading?
>>25981321It is. If you are going to read it here is the link for the 5 thread. Some hater misarchived it.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/25932055/
>>25981321It's closer to Changeling with a dash of Dresden Files, I think? Not too familiar with how those settings work in actual play, but something like their fluff and the supernatural lurking just below the surface of the normal. Of course, since we're participants we'll tell you it's worth reading. Actions have dire consequences, if you read through it. Archives are:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Monsterhearts%20Quest. Thread 5 is archived at http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/25932055/
>>25981407(( I'm not just going to say "no" to every guess until I have to suddenly say "no comment", I'm afraid. That would be too easy. I can say that you'll probably find out sooner rather than later, unless the playerbase decides to drop the issue of finding out.))
>>25981461I wonder if finding out will be hazardous to our health. Japanese spirits notoriously flip out when their secret identities are revealed.
>>25981461What do you think about Cris right now? He seems to be acting a lot more playful and free after the soul thing.
>>25981518((It's a step in the right direction, certainly. Falls from grace are just as much a staple of this sort of story as tales of redemption and learning from your mistakes, though. His path is still very much in the hands of all of you.))
This is totally unrelated; I'm just mildly amused that I was browsing /tg/ and stumbled across a quest thread where I have the same full name as the main character.Anyway, carry on.
>>25981574Let's hope we stay that way.I wish we could be a happy undead teen with our fae, psycho religious bitch and mysterious monster girl but no we have to fight against some demonic bullshit who wants to take away everything from us.
>>25981793>fight against some demonic bullshit who wants to take away everything from us.Are you referring to the Corruptor or to our Darkest Self?
>>25981833The Corruptor of course. Our Darkest Self is just misunderstood. Also, Avril did say that she is just like an elf and everyone knows that you can't help an elf.
>>25981903>can't rape an elfGod, I should get some sleep.
Im a bit confused, when did Jill won those psychic powers?
why are we such a submissive bitch now?what have y'all done to us while I was away?
My thoughts reading the archive>Huh, writing seems decent.>Wooah, well. That got rape-y fast.>Oh thank christ, a fade to black. My virginal eyes be sparred such smut.>I bet this Irish bitch is a fae...>Called it.>...Reminds me of Bible Black. Oh god. Oh god.>Are private pools so rare in England? Everyone and their mother has one in Arizona...Heated pools, with hot tubs attached.>I got a bad feel about this scoob...>Knew it>Half-fae zombie boi, hue hue hue>That M'lady shit is gonna have to end.Alright, I could dig this.
>>25982566She always had them. They're just getting more and more powerful and out of control as she goes through puberty. Just like Carrie, from the movie of the same name.>>25983187We're really only doing it with Avril, and we do it because of a number of factors.1. Guilt over what we did2. She's now technically our superior in the Fae CourtThis isn't all bad; now that we're part of the Court, we just need to find out if that gives us any perks or protections. Especially if we're bound to a Princess. >>25983419Hey, I find calling Avril 'my Lady' and 'your Highness' to be amusing. We won't do it all the time, of course, but we will have to be sure to observe proper protocol if we deal with other Fae, which given the concentration of all of this supernatural shit in one school, is a very high likelihood.
On the subject of Avril, she seems to not like being higher ranked than us. I doubt we can get to a rank higher to her in anything less than centuries, but we should ask if there's ways to at least help close the gap.>>25984661>Just like Carrie, from the movie of the same name. From the book, technically.
Also, am I the only one for whom the archive link isn't working?
>>25985279Try this one.http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Monsterhearts%20Quest
>>25985621That's the same link. But now it works, for some sorcerous reason.
>>25985790There is a small difference. The two are not the same.Consider it a test.
It's strange. This game was supposed to be Twilight, but the quest feels so much more true to the original sources than a lot of more "serious" books I've read or games I've played.
>>25986018>This game was supposed to be TwilightIt's supposed to be supernatural romances in general, not just Twilight. And the QM hasn't stated personal preferences in this genre.
>>25986018That's cause MH is a really talented QM.
>>25986018It's also inspired by buffy and it seems that buffy's influence has had a very strong effect. Take the skins and say to me that the chosen isn't buffy in the slightest. And the witch is very much like willow.
>>25983419>>Are private pools so rare in England? Everyone and their mother has one in Arizona...Heated pools, with hot tubs attached. All of Europe.People would rather spend money on thicker walls, more insulation and running any and all cables through the earth.
>>25981260>I can't find any skin that could fit the hold hand thingMay or may not be a Japanese pop culture joke.Holding hands is the most perverse of acts.
>>25981793Sure, but where would the fun be in that?>>25983419>Are private pools so rare in England?I overemphasised "this is really rare and weird" because I knew a lot of Americans see a private pool as a standard-ish thing. It really is rare over here - partly because everyone has much smaller back yards, partly because of different styles, and partly because England is *cold*. Even with a heated pool you wouldn't want to use it much 8 or 9 months out of the year. I've never known anyone with a private pool. It seemed like a good measure of opulence and decadence.>>25986018I've been trying very hard to make it *not* like Twilight. People have mentioned Dresden Files, Changeling and Buffy - all of those are definite influences on my writing.>>25988919Shhhh.
i rage-quitted the game when people chose to give themselves to rage instead of taking harm.im glad i did so. went back and read the threads from the archive, and they chose to rape avril... really, i mean really?it seems things got back to being interesting with this part though, you created some nice plot twists mh, good job handling that disaster.we should establish our dom role on avril with care and time.it was really too bad things turned bad with avril though, since we'll need to spare more time to her now and that will make it that much harder to solve the issues with jill.
>>25989340Yeah, it was a stupid choice from Chris' perspective. But I like it anyway, personally, for narrative reasons. I actually thing MH kicked back a little two hard with the hunger mitigation, but that's just the impression I got since we haven't actually seen how much is changed in play yet. I hope we can still mark experience from sex with Avril.
>>25989605we should be, we still feel the hunger.
