Hot on your heels, it's VALKYRIAN MERCS QUEST!Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Valkyrian%20Mercs%20QuestPastebin: http://pastebin.com/98bTfTqbDon't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_WikiYou are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home. You first arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact, and figh off an Imperial amphibious invasion by defeating their leader, Belkan Knight Sir Fleisher. You then moved on to Ustio, where you helped the beleaguered defenders fend off an Imperial offensive and stage a counterattack. While there, you also took care of a personal mission for Qyburn, got a new weapon called the Buzzbomb, recruited some new squad members, and helped Isolde regain her honor by defeating the Knight leading the Imperial forces in the area, breaking the back of the Imperial offensive. You then returned to Gallia to help the Loyalists fight the GRA. You also found out that your grandmother and a group of Darcsen refugees have begun rebuilding your ancestral home. You then participated in a mission to rescue Archduchess Cordelia from GRA captivity. You also finally decided to move on from your past and start a relationship with your longtime friend and XO, Sam.(cont)

"Just pointing out that royal favors are a good way for a disgraced house to get back to the top...""Yes, yes, you want to want the Sturmfuhrers to be on the top again..." You sigh."And there's only so much we can do with the resources we have on hand.""Well, we do have some money saved up from our missions..." You frown, dreading what they'll talk about."Oh, don't worry, we'll just be talking about a few innocent things, like embarrassing childhood stories and your darkest secrets.""Ooooh, ooh, I want to hear this!" Sam grins. You sigh, resigned to your fate and sink off to Qyburn's lab."Ah! Captain! It's so good to see you again!" Qyburn says happily. >>25943157I think its an exaggeration to claim that we broke their back. We defeated them in this area, but they still have significant strength. Furthermore, we know that they have significant armor assets (not to mention the artificial Valkyries) so I think that a heavy tank would be extremely helpful.
>>25943221depends on how well the manpower is at the castle as its natural defenses might cause a sense of complacency against a sneakier attack.
>>25943157I dunno mang, that looks like aloooooot of tanks to me.
I really don't see the appeal of a Heavy Tank that everyone seems to have. Sure it's nice to have stupidly high amounts of armour, but not getting hit in the first place is better than anything armour can provide.
>>25943241Which is why I'm surprised more people aren't voting for the suppressor since we're obviously going to need to be stealthy for at least part of this.
>>25943221Wouldn't Alek be better in that?A Anti-Tank Rifle would take the head off a Valkur while a tank shell might miss and be a bigger target.
>>25943248True but only if we can even get our tanks their in the first place, rather not turn it into a heavy just yet

>>25943471that and the low likely hood of there being much tank on tank action.
>>25943471This.The heavy is a good upgrade but the money is better spent elsewhere for now. A heavy tank would be most worth if fighting in open spaces and we really haven't done that at all, nor to we plan to in the next mission.

>>25943523Then we'll have to do it the old fashion way like they did stealth missions in WW2.
>>25943523Wait abit longer anon.Theres that >(cont) after all
>>25943505Can we at least get Howitzers?
>>25943538Oh, I'm confident we can still pull it off so it's not a huge deal. Just a little upset they were ignored in favor of firepower when this is literally the mission they would come the most in handy for.
>>25943576Siletto daggers and basket hilt claymores
>>25943553It'd have no use on the upcoming mission and it'd just jack the upkeep price up.
>>25943590And Bagpipes too!
>>25943591True. We should get it for the next area though. Probably need it.
>>25943572It's like the discussion on how to take the castle yesterday didn't even happen.Abit disappoint...
>>25943605I don't remember a conclusive plan being put together.Could we get a description of the terrain and structures?
>>25943310Hold on to Heavy until we have to start fighting the Panzer division of the Belka, give Var to Jager because holy shit Var, does it come with OPEN FIRE feature for the grenade launcher?
>>25943628Take a look at the picture. We came up with a few ideas.
>>25943602we should have recruited Jack when we had the chance

>>25943638I say we open up with a buzzbomb
Now, then. Off to go see what horrible truths our grandmother has been telling Sam.
>>25943628The plan was to send in Elizabeth, possibly to set up the radio beacon at the start. The other part was to sen Heloise in with Brilliant to sabotage the Tanks and blow a gate open for our armors entry and exit. That's all I can remember off the top of my head but we also had other teams planned out with some basic objectives for them.
>>25943645We've only got one spot left.
>>25943646true though I admit I was thinking more long term than short term.

>>25943654Good thing you'll never be president "I say we open up with a nuke!" Bam Nuclear winter.
>>25943664Basically it was to stealth in and sabotage and set up as much shit as possible for a quick assault.
>>25943666It needs to be an Engineer.Heloise has been our only one for way too long and every other class already has two people.
>>25943651Pretty sure Jager doesn't have fragments of honey DNA.

>>25943666[RESERVED FOR EX-FIANCEE]
This is taking far too long.
>>25943686Buzzbomb is more equivilent to a tomahawk missile. And we sure used those to opened up the Iraq War with a hell of a lot of those.
>>25943702Have you never been here when /tg/ was shopping?
>>25943711And the Iraq War wasn't a stealth mission.
>>25943702welcome to SHOPPING WITH /TG/
>>25943664I presume we'll be operating entirely on the cliff facing side of the castle, as that hill looks littered with pill-boxs and other shit. Sabotaging the motor pool is good, but that open tarmac is going to be a death trap for anybody caught out there. Perhaps a Buzzbomb could be used to strike a fuel/ammo point and throw the defenders into chaos while we have another team try to gain access to the castle proper.
>>25943505"Holy CRAP, Qyburn, what the hell is that?!" You gape as you see the monster of a gun Qyburn carts out to you."Ha, if you think this is big, you should see the original!" Qyburn laughs. "This is the Var mk2, a combination of sword, machine gun, and grenade launcher!""Another mad creation of yours?" You ask."Oh, no, this was somebody else's genius! I just made a few... refinements. The original weapon is unusable for most normal folk. Too big and heavy, you see.""Uh huh..." You nod, unconsciously stroking the weapon."Ideally, this would be for shocktroopers to use. Why do people think a suppressor would work on the Var? That is not a weapon meant for subtlety. That is a weapon meant for kicking as much ass as possible while making sure everyone in a five-mile radius knows about it.
>>25943939subtlety is not Jager's strong suit, I agree
>>25943939Just that if it doesn't Jaeger will need to swap out the shotgun for a silenced weapon.

>>25944229If they've started up the tank then stealth is no longer an option. And you're assuming we can somehow pry open the hatches.
>>25944229Or you could use it as a seat cushion.

>>25944152Either spear or arrow, made by Loki, thrown/shot by the blind god Hod, made of mistletoe as it was the one thing that hadn't promised not to hurt Baldr and it killed Baldr. But no, that's completely different, that didn't have a name as far as I can remember.Old king somewhere around where the Roman Empire would be, had this sword Mistilteinn, killed 420 people with it, and no I'm not joking about the number it was four hundred and twenty, got buried in his burial mound, became one of the draugr, living dead, and a Danish king came in, beat him up, took his treasure and sword, killed some folks with it, lost it in the water due to witches, found it again in a fish, and then got killed by a guy with a club.
Wait, guys, did we pick up the mortar squad upkeep?
Too bad we can't hijack a GRA tank and use it as a Trojan Horse filled with a crap ton of explosives and radio beacons, drive it into the middle of the parked enemy tanks and run like hell.
>>25944275Did you not understand? We put them in them when we are being stealthy, so then when the people jump in the tank once we go loud they lose limbs and wreck parts of the tank.

>>25944321it wasn't just any old GRA tank, but rather the bigwig's abandoned tank. Odds are it was customized beyond the norm.
There's a whole lot of assumptions being thrown around here...

So can we agree on getting just the suppressors. They would be useful and honestly I don't want to argue over the mines and beacon for an hour when we could be moving the quest forward.
>>25944366Or people can stick with what was bought instead of bitching about afterwords non-stop.
>>25944366Yes, second. Those suppressors will be great.
>>25944092I say suppressors
>>25944301Wait, aren't GRA Type-36 tanks essentially the same as the Loyalist Type-36 tanks, but with a different and noticeable colour scheme?
>>25944071>I think we got time for one more thing. (specify)Darcsen refugees.
>>25944297So, leading names are Laevateinn, Mistlilteinn, and Szczerbiec.Maybe we should pick something easier to say in the middle of battle.
>>25944362It leaves obvious evidence of tampering. Unlike a single mine. The thing is, it is fast unlike traditional sabotage. And we can use it, like say bobytrapping a line of approach by guards if we need to take and hold a critical area, say a control room.

>>25944527That's the power of engineer space.
>>25944547In game yes. But Merc has been pretty strict on Heloise not having infinity+1 grenades on her person.

>>25945071>we're more of a boxerJagers personality suits that, but he is probably one of the best sabre fencers in the world, he taught Karla to fence, thats how they met, hell, he beat Isolde after not using a sabre for a year or so, I'd say he is a damn good fencer
>>25945150I'd think you're right.
>>25945150So give him Katars. He can Box AND Fence.

>>25945150He didn't teach Karla, they were both taught as nobles and sparred together because Jager was the only one who'd fight her seriously. I'll give you the duel, but that seemed more good rolls than canon skill. Same with outdrinking Sam.
>>25945150Combine that with his build, and we know the only weapon for him. A 1796 Heavy Cavalry Saber.
>>25945239I'm pretty damned sure that Jager was her fencing teacher, at least, thats how Merc wrote that flashback

>>25945282"Come on! You promised me you'd help me practice today!""Karla, don't you have instructors who can do that for you?""They always lose on purpose!" Karla pouts. "You're the only one that takes dueling seriously!"Doesn't seem like he wrote it that way to me.Instructors are even mentioned.
>>25945239Our boxing was also more good rolls than skill...
>>25945325Let's just say Jager is really tough and really lucky and leave it at that then.
>>25944931"Man, we've just gotten together and you're already treating Grandma like family." You grin. "W-well!" Sam blushes and looks away. "She's just...really charismatic! She could be like anybody's grandmother!""Suuuuuure." You say with your best shit eating grin."L-let's just go already!" Sam squeaks, grabbing your hand and pulling you toward the trucks as you laugh all the way.----And all of a sudden, you're out in the Kloden Wildwoods, right on the outskirts of Castle Gassenarl. The huge castle fortress dominates the area, its big walls and even bigger guns glaring menacingly at the surrounding landscape. In front of you is a rather large river that serves as a natural barrier, but with Fenrir and Kilroy being amphibious, that's not much of an issue.Meanwhile, some sort of Gallian black ops team is already on the other side of the river, securing a landing zone for you. You're not quite sure who they are, but they're definitely not Nameless like you expected. They're too well equipped, well trained, and professional for that. Now all that's left is the timing for your attack. The V2s are the biggest threat here since they can hurt all our things, the GRA infantry can't hurt our tanks anyway and we can take cover behind them. But not if we have to worry about the V2s

>>25947143Look, the ATR is designed to be used against hard and armored targets. The V2 is a hard and armored target. This isn't rocket science. The people with bullet hoses can deal with the regulars, and the person with the bigass fitty cal should deal with the bigass armormech.
