http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Ghost%20QuestYour codename, your only name, is Delta Phoenix. You were a ghost of the Terran Dominion until the recent fall of Korhal and death of Emperor Mengsk gave you back your free will. Now, on the fringes of Dominion space, you have gone rogue. After finishing your last mission and killing Councilman Migar on Umoja, you escaped with Dominion Dissidents and defected Umojan security forces on a Hercules-class transport, as well as your fellow rogue dominion marine, Corporal Jacob Henderson.Your first stop was a Dominion research station in orbit over Jungle World XTYU003, where you accidentally activated a rogue A.I. before you went planetside and met a Protoss Dark Templar, who gave you a cryptic message that you would meet again. You then went to Space Platform A-22-OP in orbit over planet Jestos. You took on the Diablos Locos gang by yourself, but were captured. You managed to recruit your interrogator, Mia Rodriguez, who has proven herself an invaluable pilot. You then took a mercenary mission to kill the leader of a Mercenary group, wound up in another interrogation room, but managed to kill the leader by hijacking her Banshee mid flight and throwing her into the propellers. In Order to gather resources you travelled to Desert World JD001, raided two Dominion resource transports, sabotaged a major Dominion security installation, and rescued a large number of civilians. Unfortunately the operation cost you your hand, which was replaced by a less effective cybernetic. You now have the estimated resources to repair a derelict Gorgon-Class battlecruiser, but you only have enough crew to activate the engines and jump out of the system. The Battlecruiser is in orbit over a city world that fell to the zerg during the second great war, so you expect heavy zerg resistance. You stand at the bridge of the Hercules, your fleet ready to jump. >Loading Adjutant Ai...
>"All ships, jump on my mark.">"...">"Mark."You make the jump successfully, the Valkyrie Frigate close behind, followed by your buildings. Your sensors read that you are in orbit over Jestos, and the battlecruiser is in geostationary orbit 91,239 KM from your location.>"Sir, I have multiple contacts. All Zerg."You look to the main screen. Mutalisks, scourge, corruptors, and overlords are all around you. You jumped into the middle of an orbital swarm. Luckily, if you can escape it, the battlecruiser's position is devoid of Zerg signals.Note: Overwhelming odds have negatively impacted crew morale by 20. Additional losses will continue to damage morale. Lack of supplies in the system will continue to damage morale.Risk factors extremely high. I am currently unable to calculate success rates of options. Choose carefully, Delta Phoenix.>Launch Mia's wraith to protect Hercules and base structures, have the Valkyrie use it's H.A.L.O. missles to clear an escape vector towards the battlecruiser.(Zerg risk. Potential to lose escort ships or base structures. Greater risk to Hercules and base structures.) >Attempt a short-range FTL jump (Risk of colliding with Battlecruiser. Additional repairs to fleet and the Hydron will be required. We may need additional Minerals or Vespene Gas.)>Have Valkyrie and Wraith draw zerg host away from Hercules, make for battlecruiser at sub light speeds. (Zerg risk. The small investment in vespene gas could save lives.>"Ensign, order a jump into range of the battlecruiser.">"Sir. All ships, prepare to warp to my coordinates." You take hold of the bridge console in front of you. Almost instantly the planet is sucked from your view and replaced with the darkness of space. The damage is significant, and repairs will require an additional 67% of estimated resources.>"Sir, Bad News is reporting success, automated buildings all report successful jumps and will be rendezvousing at our location. "For now you are free from the Zerg threat. You order a scan of the derelict battle-cruiser. It's armaments are damaged, only laser batteries will be online, but can be used if you restore power. The fission core is offline, you will need to repair it to restore power. For now the Hercules' systems are sufficient to power the ship's life support. You read no active life signs aboard the ship. It is possible that you will encounter dormant Zerg forces. Scans indicate the ship has multiple acid hull breaches and was likely boarded during combat. >>25780786>>Boarding action, Hercules, full compliment of marines, medics, and firebats. We'll need everyone for this, no more mistakes.
Some outlooks for the long term- Ghosts missions should be first about stealth, then objectives, then speed. Being hardcore and looty can come when the first two aren't possible.- We have resources and options beyond those presented. Our personal loadout includes explosives and psionics. Our party covers many loadouts and ships.- We should probably look into having professional relations with the Dominion. Everyone and their momma has a criminal file, but some reputation and contacts will keep us safer in the border territories.
>>25780786>Boarding action, Hercules, full compliment of marines, medics, and firebats. We'll have firebats take point, medics in the middle, marines covering the back and flanks, and prepared to shoot enemies past firebats if needed. We'll scout ahead of the main group in Cloak, possibly psychically pinging for enemy signatures so our forces are prepared for what's ahead, if it's mainly hydras or ranged enemies we might have them shift formations so marines take point and firebats cover flanks, this also helps prevent ambushes.
Do we have ballistic shields ready? Acid is nasty, son.
>Registering Consensus.A single dropship may not be a large enough force to secure the Battle-cruiser. You will put the Hercules and your civilian population at risk, but decide it's necessary to secure your objectives. This order damages morale amongst the civilians and crew with family. You close distance with the battlecruiser. It's massive beyond any other ship in the Terran Armada short of perhaps a Dominion flagship, and absolutely dwarfs your transport. Floodlights reveal a large amount of surface damage. It will take a lot of minerals to get the hull armor back to combat ready conditions. All battlecruiser systems are offline, you approach the 1st docking bay. Schematics indicate 6 bays in total capable of housing various ships. The door's are sealed, you have two options to gain entry to the docking bay.>Valkyrie opens fire, damaging ship but not risking crew.>Dispatch dropship. 4 SCVs are required, leaving 4 equipment slots for a squad. >Force open the door with the Hercules, risking potential damage to the transport and battlecruiser docking bay.

>Registering consensus. You won't be able to do much in the way of repairs with your limited resources, and you'll need that docking bay pressurized if you intend to move civilians out to assist with repairs once the ship is secure. The obvious solution is to dispatch a dropship. You board a dropship with the necessary SCV's. You have 3 remaining crew slots.>Firebats occupy 2 slots. All others occupy 1. Marines with Hostile Environment Suits instead of CMCs occupy .5 slots, but will be more vulnerable.
>>25780927>>Dispatch dropship. 4 SCVs are required, leaving 4 equipment slots for a squad. We really do not need anymore damage to the ship.

>>25781863And not losing everyone zerg is probably even better for morale. Leave Jenkins. We'll find her scrub ass later once we've gotten everyone on board. Let this be a lesson. If you wander off in a ship full of infected zerg you're probably going to get munched. This goes for us. We wander off on our own far too much and it results in us getting royally fucked up every time.
>>25781882Find the last known location of Jenkins and see if we can find out just what that place is. For all we know, it might just be scan shielded.

>Registering ConsensusYou activate your stealth reactor and step out of cover. There are several exits from the docking bay and you head for the one closest to her last known position. >"Regroup at the dropship. I'm going to track her down.">"Yessir! You heard the boss, boys. Pack up, we're goin' with plan B!"The corridor narrows to a single-person hallway. Schematics indicate you are headed towards living quarters. Your step over debris. Lost boots, dropped C-14's that read empty, the occasional chunk of CMC armor. None of it registers as belonging to your lost private, however.Your sensors pick up movements for half a second but never long enough to identify the source. You slow down as the sensor ghosts increase in frequency. Eventually you reach a corridor junction. 4 hallways connect. You switch to infrared, attempting to track your marine. That's when you pick up a very faint blood trail. You follow it for some time, schematics indicate you are heading to the armory. The door is sealed, you bring up your wrist mounted computer and connect it. You power the door with onboard systems, disabling your cloak, and begin to hack it open. You doubt seriously that the private could've gotten in on her own. As you work, your superior senses detect something behind you. You swivel around, something large bears down on you. You connect with the assaulting limb with one hand, and end up hitting the throat of your opponent with the other. As he hits the ground you register that you just broke a man's windpipe. He's in old Dominion officer uniform, torn and dirty. He drops the pipe and reaches for his throat.>Watch him die. With your other hand you attempt to remove his hands to get a clean cut. He isn't cooperating. Thinking quickly, you take your combat sedatives from your utility belt and jab the needle in the man's arm. He quickly goes limp and unconscious. Ghost field-medic training has been described as 'Medieval', 'Barbaric', and 'Cruel'. You remember it all too vividly as you make the incision, take the metal tube from your medical kit, and save the man's life. He'll be stable there, for now, but you don't have much time until he bleeds out. You finish opening the armory door. It's nearly devoid of weapons, but you can take inventory later. Private Jenkins lies unconscious next to a corner. Sensors don't read her at all. Your HUD notifies you that a jamming signal is close by. You scan the room and locate what appears to be a makeshift sensor jammer, next to a large amount of empty bean cans, empty ration wrappers, and an uncovered mattress. I say we leave it on for now and have Mac look it over once the local area is secure. We can decide whether to turn it off then. Right now we don't know enough and the fact aht this guy survived in orbit on a pure zerg world makes me suspicious.
Don't disable, BUT leave a mine near it should someone come and check on it.
my vote is for disabling it, enabling us to have better intel of the situationbut I must run some errands for 1-2 hours, so try to not get us captured or everyone killed fellow anons

>>25782797Loading general information: Stims. An individual on stims benefits from greatly increased speed, reflexes, muscle density, the ability to deal with stress, and overall combat effectiveness. Tissue damage may result from usage however, the skin becoming 'knobbly' at the site of infusion/injection. Possible long term side-effects include, but are not limited to, insomnia, weight loss, mania/hypomania, seizures, paranoiac hallucinations, internal hemorrhaging, and cerebral deterioration. An individual who has taken excessive stimulants is easily recognizable, courtesy of "pupilless" eyes, although sometimes the eyes appear completely dark.
So is the consensus leave our forces here for repairs while we investigate the ship?I think more guys as per >>25782791 is a good idea.
>>25782865Er, I meant "what are the risks or effects of using stims to wake this guy up, who we'd just rendered unconscious?"
>>25782918Let's just keep him captive and question him later. Besides, as Henderson said, he's probably off his nut at the moment.
>>25782918that he's probably going to try and break free given how he'll have enhanced reflexes and strength. May need three or so guys holding him down.
How are repairs progressing? Also, watch out for Infested Terrans, especially on a BC possibly infested with Zergs-Polt
>>25783018shit, i forgot about infested terrans. These had better not be the kind that blow up.

>Registering consensus. You wait in the Hercules' medical bay with Doctor Lee, watching the captive silently. He mutters in his sleep, broken sentence fragments, typically signs of REM. His dreams mostly seem to involve being hunted by nondescript zerglings. None of it is information you can use. Your forces maintain defensive patrols of the docking bay. When it becomes clear at the end of the first day this might take some time, they set up to patrol in shifts of 5 marines, 1-2 firebats, and 1 medic.Halfway through day 2 the captive is awake. He can hardly speak, so you immediately resort to psionics. He was Executive Officer Sall Jamesson, the ship currently has two major zerg nests. A brood queen at the far end of the ships was using residual head from the engines to hatch her brood of zerglings and broodlings. An infestor had taken all of the surviving crew and set up his shop in main engineering. The XO created the jamming device to prevent being captured and infested, as the infestor was using it's infested marines to use the battlecruiser's sensor network to hunt down survivors.Your ship is not shielded against low-power sensors at this range. The Zerg know full well that you are here, and they have a good idea of your forces and current patrols. They have not attacked yet, leading you to believe their forces are not very large and they are waiting from support from the main Zerg force. You will have to act immediately. >Awaiting orders...
I still say that we should find out what that jammer was for.
>>25783622ruh roh.Maybe we should ask some technicians to see if they can't fashion similar devices to those jammers, so our patrols can move around with them.
>>25783622well we need to take out the infester and take main engineering first
>>25783622goddamn it. Ok, shut down engine to prevent the brood queen from making more zerglings
>>25783669Agreed.>>25783674Also do this. Shut down engines and take out the infester. We're on one hell of a time limit here boys!
>>25783674Engines have been offline for some time. Residual radiation will be active for 2,517 more years.
>>25783622What part of the ship controls atmospherics? I assumed engineeringCan we flush the zerg out through depressurization, pump in toxic gases etc?
>>25783703Main engineering controls life support.Note: Zerg will not be effected by the vacuum of space, although it is possible some of them will be vented out of the ship if emergency venting protocols are enacted.
>>25783696Well shit...Guys which is more dangerous, a currently multiplying enemy or one that can use our systems to track us?
>>25783622Are we sure that this guy is not actually infected anyway? Just checking... Also, that our private wasn't infected, if this guy also might've been. Also, why did he knock-out and capture our marine? So. We need to shut down/capture Engineering/Engines and Sensor Suite.... Hell, we also need to get access to the Weapons, because the OTHER Zerg will be coming, and we'll need to use weapons to fend them off.Hmm... Can we build some kind of jammer to cover our Hercules transport?
>>25783674Brood Queen is the more immediate threat as she'll be spawning more quickly, Infestor won't be increasing number of recruits beyond us. We should go for engines first.
>>25783721We get everyone out and we try to assassinate the brood mother and infestor.
>>25783622>lings and infestedFirebats, all the FirebatsAdjutant, do we have some sort of matter with which to irradiate the Brood Queen nest? We should take Main Engineering by force.
>>25783766That is bad plan. We know they are currently too weak to take on our forces, take out the multiplying enemy first >>25783732, then go for the Infestor. If possible, make more of those homemade jammers.
>>25783759I'm pretty sure we'd have picked up on it if he was infected.
Um, let's keep in mind that the Zerg have access to the ship's sensors.Meaning sneaking up on them on an assassination mission is going to be tricky.
>>25783759Scans do not indicate zerg contamination in any crew members or the captive. He thought it was a zerg trick and your private was infested. If you escort specialist "Mac" to the jamming device, he can reverse-engineer it, and allow your squads to move without being detected by basic sensors, as well as mask the Hercules. >>25783777You are currently equipped with a single irradiation grenade. It would not cover a sufficient area to eliminate the entire nest. Estimates are that it can kill the brood mother, or up to 12 zerglings.
>>25783777We actually do have Irradiation Grenades on the C-20, I'm worried about it having nasty long term effects since we plan on using this place in the future. How hard is it to clean up and make it habitable and safe after using one of those?
>>25783837>If you escort specialist "Mac" to the jamming device, he can reverse-engineer it, and allow your squads to move without being detected by basic sensors, as well as mask the Hercules.do this immediately
>>25783836Sensors in a low power environment cannot detect Delta Phoenix. However, due to her psionic abilities, the brood queen or infestor will be able to sense her if she is too close.
>>25783837Get MacGuyver working on this immediately.
>>25783837How big is the jamming device?Could we just grab it and take it with us?>He thought it was a zerg trick and your private was infested. Makes sense.
>>25783846SCVs are currently equipped with radiation scrubbers. The engines already output radiation requiring crew to don hostile environment suits during operation.
>>25783871Should I assign an escort?
>>25783847Yep, this. Then take out the multiplying enemy. Then the Infester.
>>25783899>engines already output radiation requiring crew to don hostileHenderson and Ryan
>>25783874It is small enough to be moved by a single SCV. It is too large to be moved by CMCs or CMC-660s.
>>25783899Of course. Two people at the minimum.
>>25783899Yes, we don't want the Zerg to see a weak spot and go after him.Henderson and 2-3 others, have a medic as part of the grouping. For the target priority, go after the Brood Queen, we'll want to irradiate her, without her the zerglings and broodlings will not exactly be the most capable and strategic lot and we can lead them into a firebat murderzone.
>>25783914I have assigned Mac to an SCV and sent him to the armor along with Corporal Henderson and Private Valero. Awaiting additional orders.>...
The queen is living off of the residual heat and radiation. If we turned on the engines would it be possible it could fry her brood or would it do nothing
>>25783899A regular-sized patrol, they haven't attacked on yet. It would be odd if they did now.
>Reverse-engineer deviceYes, this, two people with MAc>Cannot irradiate the QueenFuck it, we take Firebats to them. Infestor can't do shit if he divides his forces.
>>25783942Seal up some corridors and stuff, like in Aliens.
>>25783956No guarantee the engines are actually functional. We'd probably need main engineering to get them on.
>>25783956Zergling nest is currently behind engine heat shielding. We do not have any sufficient weapons to destroy the shielding.Destroying the shield would increase engine room repair costs.
>>25783942See if we can get a mental layout of the engine room from the XO, any potential killzones that we can lure the zerglings into once we irradiate the Brood Queen.
Hey, how long would it take Zerg reinforcements to reach the ship, assuming the local Zerg called for assistance?
>>25784013I'm betting they already have, so we need to move quickly.
>>25784004That will not be necessary. I have already scanned the area. The engine has two hallways that exit and lead down the length of the ship. It is possible to position a firebat and medic at both exits with marine support.Note that the rear will be exposed to the infestor's forces should he choose to mobilize against us.
>>25783942Without a doubt, we attack the infestor first. If we move any significant numbers of troops to the queen, they will know this, because they are using the ship's sensors and will attack our temp base. I would recommend scouting main engineering with DP before assault.
>>25784013Zerg lack FTL capacity. Assuming reinforcements were not already in orbit, maximum estimates suggest overlords will make contact with the Hydron in between 16 hours and 1 day.
>>25784047initiate an assault against the Infestor immediately, then set up defensive perimeters around the engine.
>>25784086We do not have estimates of the Infestor's forces. Main engineering is significantly far from the engines. If the queen responds the zerglings will be out of our killzone before a defensive perimeter can be established. We will have to fall back to the ship and use the Docking Bay's established killzones.
>>25784086Well, after we get the jammer, right? Element of surprise and all that.>>25784047If we position said units at these spots, then launch an attack with the rest of our forces against the Infestor, what is the likelyhood that the Brood Queen will attempt to aid him?
>Receiving Transmission.Identity Confirmed. Corporal Henderson.>"We've got yer egghead back safe n' sound, had to take some potshots at some Zerglin's. They was just followin' us though, creepy little things."
Is our goal still to retain control of the Hydron?
>>25784149Scans indicate a 92% Genetic match between the Queen and Infestor. They are members of the same swarm. Likelihood of assistance is 98%.
>>25784165yes. But, considering how infested it is, if we can't cleanse the ship, we'll have to destroy it.
>>25784170Why else do you think we're here? The sooner we gain control of the shiny battlecruiser the better.
>>25784170Note: It is still possible to evacuate all remaining assets. Current objectives suggest this is the primary mission.
>>25784126Okay, the zerglings are a lot faster than the infested marines are which means if we go after the infestor we'll get hit from behind by the zerglings and broodlings much sooner than if we go after the Queen. So Queen first, and the infested marines can't find us on sensors due to Mac.
Question: Who do we work for and how long till we can ask the United Earth Directorate to fund us in return for fancy tech?
>>25784187Sweet, let's do that then. Make sure that our forces at the engine killzone also have jammers so the Infestor can't warn the Brood Queen.
>>25784227The Queen and the Infestor are memberso f the same Hive so they can communicate with each other. The infestors won't have to find us they just have to go to the Queen. I hate to say it gentlemen, but we're overmatched for this right now. Either we bug out and wait until we have more people or we blow this thing up and do all humanity a favor. We're in over our heads here.
>>25784227Note that the infested marines will still know your last location due to zerg hivemind capacity. It is possible to attempt to hit the queen and then fall into the engine room, and try to defend against the second wave of infested terrans. Data suggests that the infested force will be armed with C-14s and shotguns. The remainder will be unarmed crew that will have nothing but zerg-modified claws.
>>25784268We work for ourselves, we're rogue.
>>25784268We currently have no employer. We have no known UED contacts. They are extremely rare following their defeat at the end of the Brood Wars.
>>25784288alternately we work for our Adjutant, because she is one sexy piece of software
>>25784282>It is possible to attempt to hit the queen and then fall into the engine room, and try to defend against the second wave of infested terrans.>Data suggests that the infested force will be armed with C-14s and shotguns. The remainder will be unarmed crew that will have nothing but zerg-modified claws.can you calculate our chances of success?
>>25784268We are rogue.
>>25784281Bugger that. We're getting this ship. And then we'll be one step closer to ourslutty-processor unit
>>25784281If we can take out the Queen with the Irradiation Grenade and fall back to a defensible position than we'll be in a reasonably good position. We don't need to take them all out in one operation, just chip away the important pieces and hold our killzones until we can do it in one operation. We're on a timetable, but we can't rush it.In addition we have mines, we can guess the route the enemy will take to get to us which means we can explode them.
>>25784322>Expected casualties during initial strike on queen: 2%.>Expected casualties during infested marine and crew counterattack: 32%.>Expected casualties during infestor attack: 67%.>Likelihood that infestor will attack instead of going into hiding: 20%.
>>25784322I think it's better if we leave the marines/firebats/medic around the engine killzones and then lead the remainder of our forces against the infestor.
What time does this quest take place in? If its before the end of HotS, we could hook up with Raynor and ride the wave to become a little task force for Emperor Mengsk II

>>25784362I don't quite understand, why would the casualties from the infestor attack be so high?Adjutant, please calculate the chances of >>25784365
>>25784345This isn't an outpost. This is a HIVE. There's going to be dozens of zerg, plus the infected terran crew. We're assuming that what we're going up against are zerglings but what do we do if they've got Hydralisks, or heaven forbid something worse? If they've got the place littered with those fucking tongue spike things I can't remember the name of? We don't know what we're fighting or how much of what we're fighting we're just hoping that what's in here isn't as bad as what's out there. Dale was right. This is suicide.
>>25784409Because they have weapons.
>>25784411We know there aren't many zerg on the ship.
>>25784385I say we join up with buddy Raynor then. He won't turn us into Valerian, even if he's willing to pal around with him
>>25784397Each recluse mine used will reduce expected casualties from the counterattack by 3%. Estimates given assume corridors are already sealed. Note that the infestor has access to all systems and can open any door we attempt to seal.We can weld doors shut using an SCV, however the SCV only has a 13% chance of surviving the conflict.
>>25784430>ould hook up with Raynor and ride the wave to become a little task force for Emperor Mengsk IIYeah, well, we're former Dominion under Arcturus' rule. I get the feeling we don't like Jimmy any more than Mengsk I did.
If we could wait, we could builp up Firebat suits and launch a grand cleansing. As it is, we could either:Attack Queen, mine our rear against the Infestor with everything explosive we can find.Take what we can from the ship/bays, jump back and look for a way to irradiate two zones in one go.
>>25784409Tactical Note:Infestors are capable of launching fungal growths that disable before ultimately killing and infesting marines. A single medic can only save a single marine at a time. Additionally, the infestor may use a parasite on one of our firebats, causing increased damage.
>>25784445sorry, I meant Weld. I was thinking of that scene in Aliens when the marines were sealing themselves into one room
>>25784411Creep spread from scans indicate that it is not thick enough to support zerg structures. Hydralisks are not mentioned in the memories of the XO.
>>25784427>Expected casualties during infested marine and crew counterattack: 32%.>Expected casualties during infestor attack: 67%.The latter implies it's the Infestor itself that is attacking. The former is the infected crew. That said, I'm totally fine with the Infestor going into hiding. We can get our men cracking on repairs while we attempt to track it down.
>>25784469No the zerg reinforcement is coming within a day
>>25784500but we did see evidence of hydralisk spikes earlier, didn't we?
Does anyone else just want to GTFO?This doesn't look that great for us.
>>25784430Current Status of Terrorist James Raynor is unknown. >>25784469Production of a firebat suit takes 12 hours. We do not have a location to land our barracks for this production. >>25784365Splitting our forces would result in increased casualties, as one group would not have a medic.
>>25784469The likelihood of the infestor itself attacking is only 20%.I like those odds. Let's attack the Queen with our force, mine the fuck out of everything behind us, then leave our crew to repair (in a single tight-knit group) the essential portions of the ship while we track down and kill the Infestor. It can detect us, can it?
>>25784526Hydralisk spikes are identical to queen spikes. Delta Phoenix's personal experience suggests that they are in to great of numbers to be from one queen. It is possible that hydralisks were part of the original boarding party, and are no longer aboard the Hydron.
>>25784481Thankfully it's slow and probably takes up the entire width of a corridor, we may be able to hunt it down, drop an Inferno Grenade or something on it. This place is going to be hard to clear, but if we go after the queen first, lay explosives in the right places, focus on Irradiating the Queen first before making a tactical retreat back to a safer place, and making sure the slow Infestor doesn't engage our main body of troops so he can't wreak havok on our group with the Parasite or Fungal we should be okay.
>>25784481Okay guys we are way over our heads on this.We are outnumbered and outmaneuveredSun Tzu says to get the fuck out of there and come back for additional reinforcements. Adjutant can we get Delta Phoenix to sneak into the bridge and captains quarters to upload all the ships data and logs and take the captains ID and stuff while the rest of the crew have a defensive perimeter around the drop ship?We cannot fight this. Casualties are too great
>>25784540>>25784520It's not that bad, we can bugger out of here and complete the essential repairs later. The zerg won't really have much reason to reinfest a completely abandoned ship.
>>25784565The infestor can sense Delta Phoenix's psionic emanations. It is possible for him to use his fungal growth ability to significant effect.
>>25784594It is possible to launch a mission to both the bridge and armory systems and leave the ship before the zerg force arrives. We will acquire all available ship and combat schematics.
>>25784594Delta Phoenix has always been more than a little gung-ho before this, and you're making this seem way worse than it is.As per >>25784576 and >>25784565 we CAN do this.
>>25784625Ok, download ship schematics. We can build our own ship to our own specifications.
>>25784659Ah, hell fucking no. This has been our Holy Grail for a while now.
>>25784659Just in case things go south.
>>25784659We would require a Class 12 Orbital Shipyard to produce a Gorgon class battlecruiser. There is no shipyard available that is not in dominion possession. A significant fleet would be required to even attempt boarding actions of a shipyard that size.
>>25784716But I made them all the time in SC without needing any orbital shipyard.
>>25784694It is likely that we will not have time to complete repairs if we attempt both missions. Even with the nests exterminated, it is highly recommended that you use your remaining marines to protect your repair crews. Zergling or infested resistance may still be present.
>>25784731We're talking about a Gorgon here, not your run-of-the-mill Battleship.
>>25784731Minotaur-Class Battlecruisers are the largest battlecruisers produced by a starport. Please review scale chart.Note that Gorgon-Class battlecruisers are not pictured, but are larger than Behemoth Class battlecruisers.
Rolled 39>>25784716So we really REALLY need that ship.Guys we need to take care of this infestation. Be smart about mine placement. If we can narrow it down to the infester we can pick him off while repairs are taking place. We came into this knowing it was risky as hell.Let's finish the job.
>>25784739>>25784694See? If we succeed in this attack we'll should be able to complete the minimum repairs required in time. Please, daddy needs this
>>25784731Holy shit, it's almost as if we're not talking about game mechanics.
>>25784746>Even with the nests exterminated, it is highly recommended that you use your remaining marines to protect your repair crews. Zergling or infested resistance may still be present.Oh, right, I forgot about that.
>>25784770Seconding.Zerg Ain't Shit.
Rolled 31>>25784739So hit this shit, get shit repaired asap, then bug the fuck out. Gotcha.
>>25784768Alright, I'm convinced.Guns blazing, let's go.
>Registering Consensus, final inputs required...Reviewing success chances: >Expected casualties during initial strike on queen: 2%.>Expected casualties during infested marine and crew counterattack: 32%.>Expected casualties during infestor attack: 67%.>Likelihood that infestor will attack instead of going into hiding: 20%.>Use SCV to wield doors. -10% casualties during infested counterattack. 13% chance of SCV survival.>Recluse mines: -3% casualties for each mine deployed.Should I order the assault with SCV and Recluse mines?Note that our recluse mines are in short supply, and may prove useful while hunting the infestor.
I suggest we hit the queen fastFast flankers are usually the death of armies due to their speed. We negate that because we're attacking them. So I vote for queen. Of course we mine the infested terrans possible path of approach
>>25784901If we can survive the counter attack then we're already a step up to hunt the infestor.Could we send some marines with the SCV to help it's survival chances? How many mines do we have again?
>>25784901Any suggestions for getting the SCV to survive? If not then I say we go all out on the mines.
>>25784937Chances include marine escort with SCV. Repositioning marines lowers chances to 3%.
>>25784739Get as much intel of the Dominion XO for potential killzones, important resources/data and move to assassinate the queen and then the infestor. Once we clear the engines have our SCVs fix that up while we clear the bridge and jump out.>>25784901Save the mines, if we're killing maybe one or two infested or just a bunch on 'lings, it's not worth wasting them. Don't risk the SCV
>>25784901Alright, but we had better cover that SCV's ass like it was our own.Additionally, how many mines do we have?
>>25784937We currently possess 3 recluse mines.
>>25784957>Lowers chances to 3%An escort makes it more dangerous? Run chkdsk the next time you boot
>>25785005Survival chance with marines: 13%.Survival chance without marines: 3%.
>>25784987Let's use them. We'll track down that infestor in due time. When we don't have a zerg reinforcements breathing down our necks.>>25785005Removing the escort makes it more dangerous. It's 13% WITH an escort.
>>25784987I dunno...23% casualties are better.
>>25784901additionally, put the slacker in the SCV
>>25785018Could we give it...more of an escort?
>>25785045Aye. Let's not use the SCV.
>>25785074I doubt we can do that without damaging our chances elsewhere.
>>25785018>>25785035Either way we risk the marines AND the SCV if we keep them together. We already have a good chance to repel the infested terran, so don't risk valuable crew just like that
>>25785075but if we use the scv and the mines it's only 13% casualties. Every man counts.

Whoa...I missed a lot it seems.Sure am glad there aren't any Banelings though Just out of curiosity, Adjutant, how...dangerous would banelings make this mission?
>>25785107crap, didn't know that.
>>25784944Make a circle around the scv after it welds the doorThey have no range weapons to snipe the scv so we gotta be around it covering its assFire bats on both sides along with medic then marinesI suggest Delta deal with zerglings that are just about to finish off a guy and only that so the guy can resume fighting and we don't lose a guy
>>25785107If nobody likes him then psionically suggest and order him to weld the doors
>>25785074Assignment of additional marines will increase SCV suvival by 5%, but increase frontline casualties by the same amount. I have currently allocated for a 2-marine escort. This number can be modified.
>>25785107So we send this guy. Hate to say it but he seems disposable.
>>25785144I dunno, we can always use an idealist.Shame he doesn't have Matt's competence though.
>>25785125Adjusting for Banelings in tactical model, please wait...>>>>>>>>>We could expect 87% casualties in the first assault. Likelihood of Delta Phoenix sustaining fatal injury would be 67%. It is likely that baneling strains would have presented themselves here given enough time in isolation.
Okay so the plan is to send the disposable guy to weld the doors and use all our mines. Reducing casualties as much as possible. Then to repair shit as soon as we can and bug the fuck out.
>>25785145It's a suicide mission, and we have a solid chance with the mines of making it out of this okay anyway. No need for the SCV, and our crew definitely wouldn't like it.
>>25785184Sure am glad there aren't any of those around...For now...For the love of god please don't let there be Banelings.
>>25785198The shitty slacker would be a hero. We NEED to do this or we'll lose a lot more people.
>>25785144He is a member of the Junkworthy crew. His death would negatively impact morale of fellow crewmembers.Additionally we do not have another individual capable of operating CMCs at this time. Corporal Henderson produced a CMC for every man who was trained.
>>25785184...Sweet Zombie Jesus.I'm almost tempted to bugger off and have a go later.
>>25785218How negatively would it impact it? Could we get an estimation?
>>25785184Well, I'm glad there aren't any.Is there any practical way to lock the Infestor out of the systems so that he can't open the doors on us?
>>25785226No no, there aren't any Banelings...yet, hopefullyBut if we see them? Yeah I suggest we leave.
>>25785184I'm really hoping somewhere in here a giant blue ogre runs through distributing sandwiches and good rolls.
>>25785257Provided we issue an escort, we can expect a hit of 25 to morale. If we do not assign an escort, we can expect a hit to loyalty in addition to morale.
>>25785262We do not have access to main engineering. We cannot override any systems.
>>25785297We need to send an escort then. We can raise morale eventually. We just NEED to make it through this.
>>25785262Delta phoenix has the greatest hacking capability of the crew - that is to say, any at all.HOWEVER, given that this is a derelict battlecruiser, our ghost overrides SHOULD function.
>>25785297>>25785257Go for it then. I guess this will be his last SCV write-up.
>>25785297I'm gonna bet that taking the Hydron will boost crew morale tremendously, and we need this boost to replenish what we've lost in the initial jump here
>>25785330God speed. He will be remembered.
>>25785297I think the hit to morale is worth itI mean, we'd get this whole fucking shit, and with that in hand, we can build a real foundation for ourselves and our crew. They'll understand sacrifice is needed sometimes, don't you agree Adjutant?
>>25785319Delta Phoenix will be deployed in the queen's nest for assassination objectives.Attempting to access the Battlecruiser Network to lockdown the infestor using ghost codes is possible. However it will result in a flat 10% increase to possible casualties across the board. Chance of imprisoning the infestor in main engineering is 52%.
>>25785378*shipI am also defective.
Okay enough riff raffTime to decideI for one vote to go for the queen fast and hard but with the scv along with marines to weld the doors and mines in possible approaches of infested terrans
>>25785391Uh.. dare I ask how? That said, I'm tossing my vote in for this one. Worth the risk. We can go in and deal with him after the queen and we get the rest of the repairs done.
>>25785330>>25785367Notice: We do not have a marine pilot for Benjamin's CMC.We will reduce our effective fighting force by 1, resulting in 5% increase to casualties across all operations. We have 11 other SCV operators currently.Continue with order anyway?>(Y/N)
>>25785391Negatory on that one. Better for us the infestor makes a break for it. We can hunt him down in our own time once we get the repairs done.
>>25785442No.For the love of God no.
>>25785433By locking all doors to main engineering, it is 52% likely that the infestor cannot escape. However, Delta Phoenix will not be able to assist marine or firebat kill teams, resulting in higher casualties.
>>25785442>We will reduce our effective fighting force by 1, resulting in 5% increase to casualties across all operations.>We have 11 other SCV operators currently.>Continue with order anyway?let's use another pilot for the SCV
>>25785442Fuck. N. Are there any other shitty SCV operators? If not...god dammit I really don't want to say this...ask for volunteers.
>>25785457Infestors are incredibly dangerous, my friend.Seriously, if even one of our crew gets infested, we'll be ruined.
>>25785442Hell no.The consequences are just not worth it.
>>25785442God damnit, why.Okay, pick a SCV pilot who's a little gung-ho but more importantly no known relatives.
>>25785482Should I notify the volunteers of their survival probability?
>>25785482Fuck, why didn't I think of that. Right, ask for volunteers
>>25785518Who the hell is gonna volunteer? It's suicide!
>>25785492Which is why we'll be repairing one thing at a time, in a tightly-knit group. Of course we aren't going to split up until we've ended this guy.
>>25785516Tell him it won't be good. It's going to very risky and...probably a one way trip. Make sure to ask for volunteers to escort him.
>>25785516No. But tell them it's pretty damn risky.
>>25785516No.I'd like for this not to be an exercise in futility.
Call we poll the crew on what they thing about taking the Gorgon?
>>25785533They'd go out a god damn hero. We NEED someone to do it or a lot of other people are going to die.
>>25785516Nein.Tell them it's risky and nothing else.
>>25785539But that's the problem, if we're so clumped up, the Infestor can nail everyone with it's nasty fungal growth. If that shit sets in, we have potential for an entire outbreak of infested marines. You know what happens then? We're back on our own again.
>>25785552The escorts aren't the ones most at risk. We only need the SCV to volunteer, not the marines.

>>25785625Whelp, here we go. Suit up, and find him a cowboy hat. He may as well go out in a fancy manner. If he lives, we'll give him.. something. Make Henderson give the man a cigar, if we can't find a hat crammed into a CMC somewhere amongst our crew
>>25785665Do we even have access to nanite injections/long term care for infestation, Adjutant?
>>25785625Shit. Well, let's do this.Man, we need to get his widow something. Maybe a puppy.
Well, it seems to me that we are getting a bit too greedy. I'd rather take the consolation prize of any schematics and infromation that the bridge has and just leaving. Instead we're just going double or nothing like stupid gamblers. But of course this post might be ignored so yeah, tried my best but I'm feeling the worst will come.
>>25785681A cigar? He gets private quarters on the ship. He gets any booze he wants for a week. Not the shit kind. The good kind. We'll make sure of it. If he lives that man is a god.

>>25785681>If he lives, we'll give him.. something. If he lives, I say he gets to have first dibs on our first Thor.
Adjutant after we destroy the queen and infested terrans will Delta Phoenix have enough skills hunting down the infestor alone?
>>25785702Nah I think head foreman would be reward enough. We also include personal quarters and a fine selection of booze/cigars for a week.
Is there anything we can do to increase our chances?Such as assassinate the Queen first?Or to not send our troops in on an assault, instead have them in the Hercules, etc?Honestly, I just get the feeling that if the chances are so low for this... that we are DOING SOMETHING _WRONG_.Seriously guys, what exactly are we doing here? Can we get a review of the strategy here?

>>25785687We have no methods of slowing, curing, or removing infestation at this time.Current restoration technology is limited to parasite, ensnare, plague, devourer's corrosive acid, maelstrom, lockdown, optical flare, and irradiate.
>>25785732Of course. Anything this guy wants.
>>25785701A cigar for while he's WELDING. Rewards come after his suicide mission.
>>25785695Eyes on the prize, anon, eyes on the prize.
>>25785695We came so far, and to back out now would possibly damage morale even further and we might suffer casualties if both zerg forces combine attack our craft as we escape. Better to purge the xeno before they escalate the problem
>>25785739They're not always easy missions, son.You take risks in the Kopultu Sector. That's how you cowboy up.
>>25785759That's why we said if he lives. Also no cigar while welding. It looks cool but the smoke can get in your eyes. We want quality welds here people.
>>25785716It is 61% likely that Delta Phoenix can eliminate the infestor before it kills or infests any crew members. It is 21% likely that Delta Phoenix will sustain serious or fatal injury fighting the infestor, without calculating for unknown factors.

>>25785794Good enough odds for me
>>25785777damnit, he died too soon. Why, Blizzard? Why?!
>>25785794We can't snipe it? I thought we did bonus damage to Psi-Uh, I mean Adjutant, I thought Ghost bullets were specifically designed to be effective against Psionic creatures, Infestors especially.
What button do we press to initiate the assault?
>>25785794I like those odds.LET'S DO EEET.
>>25785825Because the SCII team are talentless hacks who don't know a good character even if it's staring at them in the face.Even when they bloody invented that character.

>>25785866That's...worth it then, I think..Honestly guys, we got the firebats specifically to fight against zerglings, if we can kill the Infestor and save our crew from infestation, casualties from zergling hits should be reasonable, with our medics in tow.

>>25786117Eh I hope we keep three so when were dealing with the infestor.

>>25786164>>25786133We have 3 mines, and we can't waste them on zerglings and infested terran. If one can cripple or kill the infestor it saves us much trouble since we'll just torch the body with an inferno grenade, then any spares can cover our escape
>Calculating Mercy Processor. >0%Your plan is in motion. You issue the order to your teams, the carefully selected kill zone locations, the doors the SCV team will need to weld shut and deploy mines at, and your fallback positions if everything goes FUBAR.The jamming devices are attached to your firebats and SCV, limiting zerg knowledge of your movements for as long as possible. You step down into the docking bay, where the forces have gathered. You see your CMC-Clad female medic hugging the volunteer SCV operator outside of his vehicle. You do your best to avoid sensing any emotion from that direction. Henderson has the marines lined up and is pacing up and down the line, reciting his words of wisdom.>"Now ya'll have seen Night Of The Zerg, ah'm sure. An' lemme tell you - that movie is complete horse-shit. You can shoot an infested Terran in tha' head but all yer gonna do is piss it off. Shoot center mass, ladies! Slow them down, tear them apart, and you will go home!"You continue to head towards the Corridor, Barney has painted yellow horns on his helmet, and currently is testing his perdition flamethrower ignition system. He seems almost mesmerized by the flame. You make a mental note to avoid his field of fire.>"All units, I am beginning my intitial mission now. Begin movement to assigned locations in 20 seconds.">"We read you, sir. Good hunting."You head down the dark corridor, activate your stealth, and turn on your low-light visual sensors. You'll be to the queen shortly. >Combat Mission begins.

I like how the voice of reason is being drowned out. Get the schematics and LEAVE. Stupid decision have nearly gotten us killed every time you morons do them. Now everyone is going to die because you got ridiculously greedy. You didn't need the battlecruiser yet. You could've waited. You could've stopped this.

>>25786336Not when we risk a Zerg counterattack as we escape. Offence is the best defence!
>>25786419Besides, if this works out? The zerg will be scattered. Brood Queens are minor Cerebrates. All nearby zerg should go into a frenzy and kill each other, if I'm not mistaken.
>>25786407Yeah. We'd have to take over one of those major Dominion starports...And Adjutant said that pulling THAT off would require "a significant fleet" >>25784716So yeah. Better odds fighting Zerg here than trying to take over such a starport.
>>25786415One way or another this is going to end in tears. Tears of joy when we locate a sexy-cyber body for Adjutant in the Research Labs
>>25786475We already have a cyberhand. Put the adjutant in that and go to town.
>>25786435A real pity Kerrigan killed all the cerebrates. Granted they were quite useless except for her favorite and its replacement.
As you approach the engines you notice signs of zerg habitation. The walls begin to show signs of creep buildup. The hallways become less Terran, and more... Alien. Zerglings and broodlings skitter past you occasionally, oblivious to you and your purpose. You enter the main engine chamber. Guardrails and radioactive heat-shields on the far wall are all you recognize, the rest of the room is covered in zerg creep, and eggs. So many eggs. You take a position at the nearby wall, the entire operation hinges on this shot and you cannot miss. It's at this point the queen stops from tending her eggs. Slowly her head turns to face you. Her mandibles click in curiosity. She begins to change direction, and move towards you. You fire your first specialist round, the irradiation grenade burrows into her skin. She howls in pain, the zerglings begin to swarm around her, running in circles in massive numbers. They do not realize their mistake until the green cloud of irradiated gas begins to billow from the queen's wound. Several zerglings immediately keel over dead, and begin to scatter out of the only two exits. It is only then you begin to hear radio chatter, C-14 fire, and the sweet, sweet sound of perdition flamethrowers.Unfortunately, the queen is not immediately dead. She limps towards you, losing strength every second. You open fire with your C-20-A, taking chunks out of her carapace, pelting her head in random directions at the rounds bounce off. She grows weak, hauling her body towards you with her claws, before you finally break through her Carapace and blow her back to hell. You make for the exit, you need to get to the nearest security terminal and lock in the infestor. >Loading next objective...
>>25786540Let your crew know that the queen is dead, might perk them up a little knowing that a majot threat is gone

Because if we know where it is and are going to get forced into conflict, and don't have a good shot at it throwing one of those followed by some other specialist rounds like the Sticky or Inferno, I don't think it likes being caught on fire. Pretty much anything that'll give us the first blow if it comes down to it.
>>25786589which old witch?
>>25786563Aye, let them know it's just mop up for the zerglings. Get ready for infested fuckery.

>>25786598The wicked witch.
>>25786597Let's use it if we're in a bind. As long as a creature has ocular sensors, the flashbang will blind it, unless infestors somehow developed protection
>>25786675The infestor can sense us psionically if we're close. If we're close enough to blind it..
>>25786728It depends on how exact a sensing it is. If it's good enough to really target Fungals and the like well damn, if it gets a good idea of where we are but blinding it will still throw its aim off then we should blind it if that won't interfere in other things.
We're slipping to Page 10, let's wrap this up and continue on a new thread, without losing half our crew preferably
>>25786780Presumably at least as good as the brood mother, possibly more because of the extra linkage it needs to use most of its abilities effectively. She worked out where we were cloaked pretty damn quick and toddled up to take a look.

He's dead Gary! Listen to me, you little shit!">"Ben's got it bad! Lot of blood, here!">"Where's Larry!? Where the hell is Larry!? They're breaking through! Oh god, they're breaking through!"Things don't sound to be going too well. You reach the security checkpoint and begin your infiltration of the battle-cruiser's networks. Your ghost codes provide access, and you can see which doors the infested terrans are attempting to open. You do your best to keep them shut, but there are many more than you anticipated. The infestor appears to be fully integrated with the systems, or have multiple marines working consoles. Doors open faster than you can close them.>"Another door secure. Goddamn, how many doors are there?">"Mines in place here, sir. That'll take a couple.">"You want to come through this door, huh!? How about I weld you to it!? You like that!? YOU LIKE THAT!? Come on! I ain't scared of you! Choke on 'em! CHOKE ON 'EM!">"SCV operator down, boss! Me an' Valero are fallin' back!"You do your best to keep shutting doors to preserve the lives of your men, as the infestor wave hits the rear of your position.>"The zombies are comin'!">"We're still mopping up zerglings! We need more time!">"Firebats, redirect all fire. Take out the infected first.">"I love you, you love me.~">"Get 'em off me! Get 'em off! They're in my suit! THEY'RE IN MY SUIT! NNNAAUUUGGH!"
>>25786977Yeah, probably :/
>>25786998Oh goddamn it. Where is a firebat hero unit when we need one.
You hear the familiar beeps of an alert, and your Adjutant speaks.>"Warning. Infestor movement detected. Doors opened. Calculating location..."Not the men, you think to yourself. Please, not the men.>"Infestor has burrowed into ship superstructure. Signal lost."You slam the console with your cybernetic fist in rage, leaving a significant dent. You'll have to hunt it down. >Corporal Henderson... Status report.">Mission ending, please await new encryption protocols...
>>25786998Oh man this battle is glorious
>>25786998Uh oh>>25787035Pvt Barney is as close to one as we can get, as well as Henderson

>>25786998We expected 2% casualty risk from the zerglings, what's up with that? Also, barney is well on his way to being our Hero Firebat.I can only imagine how bad this would have been if not for the SCV sacrifice.
>>25787210Fuck that. That man was a hero. He deserves a ship named after him.
>>25787210She'll be in pain one way or another, but at least this way he'll be acknowledged for his sacrifice. After all, how many men can say they have a fucking battlecruiser named after them?
>>25787141>>25787210Yeah, it's nice but I don't think the wife will appreciate it.We'll think of something.
>>25787282>can only imagine how bad this would have been if not for the SCV sacrifice.I thought she was his sister?
>>25787282We're naming it after him. Hell we'll discuss it with them first. If they're down with it then it's final.
