It has been 2 years after the Empire’s defeat at Endor and the death of the Emperor. The Rebel Alliance, emboldened by this miraculous victory, has slowly spread its influence to other systems around the outer and inner rims. Afraid of losing more systems to the Alliance, the Grand Admirals have assumed temporary control of the Imperial army, placing blockades over vital manufacturing worlds and drafting more soldiers than ever before. You are one such draftee; picked up by a recruitment officer on the streets of Courscant after you tried to pickpocket some creds off of him, you were given a choice of joining the army or being shot right there, “ either way you're dead” you remember him telling you. After months of grueling training and a couple of close calls you proved you were worthy of becoming a Stormtrooper and received your armor and standard issue blaster. Now you're being sent with a detachment to the planet Reecee; Imperial intelligence has reported the suspicion of insurgency on the planet and you've been sent to remind the populace who still owns them.
The Star Destroyer you're on arrives to Reecee after 3 days of absolute boredom, you're anxious to get planet side and stretch your legs. Your detachment crowds onto a shuttle bound for Relaxis; a city just outside of the capital that, according to the local authorities, has been a hotbed of Rebel sympathizers. You land on what appears to be a major landing bay and your detachment is quickly split up into three teams: Prime, Beta, and Alpha. You are placed on Beta team with 5 other recruits and a young female officer. Your first assignment is to provide security to the officer while she meets with an informant at a local cantina. You weave through the busy landing bay, enjoying the nervous looks and scared faces of the people you pass by. Suddenly an Ithorian stumbles into you, knocking you down. Finally, you think, a chance to blow off some steam.A. Threaten the IthorianB. Beat himC. Shoot him D. Let him go with a warning
>>25364910It takes me a while to write this stuff up, sorry for the delay.
>>25365108Shout into comm (and also so the people nearby can hear) "Let's go for it! Let's do this whole fucking village!" and start firing into the crowd.
Rolled 44>>25365108A) Threaten to beat and shoo him.
>>25365196You don't need to roll yet; that'll come later.
>>25365228Had left my dice on from another thread, sorry about that.
>>25365108D. Let him go. One of the most important parts of fighting against insurgency and guerilla type warfare is not having the most firepower, but having the populace on your side. Without the support of the populace, an insurgency cannot be sustained. Therefore, we need to first befriend the locals instead of pissing them off more.
>>25365108D. Let him go with a warning. Also search him. Who the hell "bumps" into an Imperial Stormtrooper?
>>25365274here changing to >>25365258 and >>25365355
>>25365355Good point, it might also be worth it to search ourself.
>>25365355>>25365258I second this.
D, For reasons stated above.
>>25365258Disgusting, fucking awful. I'm reporting you to your superior. The Tarkin doctrine specifically says to evoke terror.
>>25365543>and they lostTime for some new tactics, buddyboy.
>>25365589>lostWe're still fighting, aren't we? You're awful at this quest, keep this meta-shit out. We'll get Thrawn AND the Reborn Emperor soon. lrn2star wars
>>25365196>>25365258>>25365274You pick yourself up and look down at the Ithorian who is still trying to get up. He must be older, you think to yourself. Perfect.A small circle has formed around the incident, your officer has placed the rest of the recruits around to make a barrier between you and the crowd. She is watching you intently; testing you." I think you owe me an apology" you say in a foreboding tone as you stand above the Ithorian. The alien bleats out in his native tongue, you don't understand the jumbled honking noises. You flick the safety off of your blaster; the high pitched humming sound causing some people in the crowd to gasp and whisper nervously" I'm going to count to three" you say, placing your blaster right between the alien's eyes."one"The Ithorian is on his knees bleating and honking incessantly; trying to form some kind of apology you can understand."two"the Ithorian's eyes are darting around like crazy; the noises he's making are starting to sound more human, but still incomprehensible." thre-"" TK-392!" Your commanding officer stops you before you can proceed. " That's enough, TK-'s 390 and 391, take this scum to the penitentiary." As the other troopers lead the alien away she looks at you and nods " Good job" she says " you sent these people a message without killing anyone outright, that kind of fear stays with people."
>>25365606>implying that OP has to follow cannon>implying that we haven't been losing due to increasing rebel influence
>>25365626Good, hopefully this sort of fear will keep these sub-humans cowed.
>>25365606>Thrawn>Terror tacticsThe man was a tactical genius, not an incompetent version of Ghengis Khan.
>>25365645Cannon? You mean canon you mongoloid. Your defeatist attitude sickens me.
>>25365674Okay. You win the argument.
>>25365650Fear is good, hatred on the other hand is what fuels the rebels. If we are going to kill people, it should happen silently in the middle of the night, or after a mock trial.
>>25365673I'm talking about the Tarkin doctrine.
>>25365626Awesome, ignore the overwhelming majority.
Piece of fodder should watch it, next time he won't be as lucky.
>>25365693We're stormtroopers not black ops.
>>25365705Better than a soft weakling. We keep up our firm work, and we'll get promoted in no time.
>>25365705Hey, the Ithorian is being detained, and we gave a good "watch your step" impression.
>>25365626Silently snap a smart salute and wait for orders.
>>25365626Salute, Fist to chest, but sneering behind my helmet at the officers "Weakness"
>>25365705Good, I was waiting where you get to kick ass and take down some rebel scum, not hold hands and sing kumbayaa. You're all right by me OP!
>>25365773No man, we just salute. Do that, and it gives her good rep with the natives. While it's completely fine if the natives hate our guts, showing that the officer is "harsh but otherwise reasonable" is good.
Before we continue I'd like to remind everyone that it's a much better option to hide arguments rather than contribute to them. After your little show of force the rest of your team arrives at the cantina. It's a run down place; the type where you know that you won't be the only one packing a blaster. As you walk past the broken down bar stools and drunkards you find a private booth towards the back with a tall Bothan sitting in the shadows. " Stay here and don't let anyone get near us." Your officer says before pressing a button and a thin plasti-steel privacy curtain closes around the booth. You and the other recruit stand watch for a few minutes, watching the bar patrons talk amongst themselves and hollering at the holographic Twi-leks dancing on a ram-shackle stage. You scan the bar, looking for anything out of place.Perception check, roll a d20
Rolled 10>>25365835Here comes a 1.
Rolled 1>>25365835Look for people who aren't drinking/enjoying the holographic hookers.
Rolled 20Rolling for perception
>>25365807I can see your point but I feel stormies wouldn't respect her after it. IDK maybe it's just me.
>>25365865We are blinded by the holographic hookers.
>>25365835btw I'll try to wait a little longer to get your guy's feedback; I'm just nervous that I'm taking too long posting.
>>25365890For the most part rank and file stormtroopers don't have opinions on much of anything their superiors do. That is half the point of stormtroopers. The more you get promoted the more opinions you are allowed to have.
>>25365915Looks like we need to sacrifice another goat to the /tg/ dice gods.
>>25365807I agree. After all, we're the dog-soldiers waiting to be unleashed on the populace. If the people think that the officers are the only ones keeping us in line they'll be that much more appreciative of them.
Rolled 17Here we go
>>25365930Seconding this, it's solid doctrine. Fear will keep them in line.
>>25365930Eh, we're a grunt fresh out of boot. A little specieism and being arrogant and overbearing is well within character.Besides, I don't think we're even a corporal; let officers think about the long-term, we're just here to blast scum in the face.I'm getting a real Full Metal Jacket-vibe for this character.
>>25366141Our origins as a pickpocket on the most diverse planet in the world hardly accounts for speciesim. If anything it would point to a dislike of authority.
>>25366141Joker or Gomer Pyle, though?
>>25366141Thank you. Also, let's keep the white knighters out of this quest.
>>25366174Bootcamp probably cured us of that, and made a proper man out of us. This is a chance to straighten our act, let's not blow it.
Waiting on OP.
>>25366174Ahh but that could fuel the resentment, just sayin>>25366191I don't know, probably not Gomer though...
>>25366209So where does the speciesm come in? Boot camp wouldn't do that.Either way, we have no reason (in character) to be dissing our officers.
>>25366209Ugh, not another whiteknight. Before you know it we'll be seeing MAXIMUM SWAG posts.
>>25366191With our display, I'd say more likely Animal Lover.
>>25366232Dude the Empire is all about HFy, and sparing Aliens isn't HFY
>>25366240I think he was saying that bootcamp cured us of being a snot nosed punk little shit.
>>25365852> Rolled 10As you look around the bar nothing seems out of the ordinary, but you can't shake the feeling that you're being watched. You express your concern to your partner " Well, no shit we're being watched, especially after you pulled your little stunt back there at the landing bay."You shrug off the criticism, knowing he's just jealous. The next couple of minutes pass by uneventfully before the curtain opens and your officer walks out " We got what we came for, let's get back to the jail." As the three of you are about to exit the bar, you hear the sound of a table being overturned and glasses breaking" YOU CHEATING SON OF A WOOKIE" you turn around and see a large Aqualorean screaming and shouting at a young man. " I SAW YOU ADD A CARD FROM YOUR SLEEVE, YOU THINK YOU CAN CHEAT ME?"" Go take care of it, we don't need this much noise on our first day here" your officer says. You and your partner quickly walk over to the commotion. At this point the Aquelorean has lifted the man up off the ground by the cuff of his shirt; rifling through his vest trying to find where he's hiding his extra cards. He sees both of you coming " YOU STAY OUT OF THIS, BUCKETHEADS, UNLESS YOU WANT A BLASTER BOLT THROUGH YOUR GUTS!"
>>25366252The Empire is about doing what you are fucking told. That is triple true for stormtroopers.
>>25366232>Boot camp wouldn't do that.I don't know, this was an Imperial boot camp, when the Empire's specieist policies would still be in effect. I can see institutionalized specieism being drilled into stormtrooper recruits as part of their training.
Rolled 5>>25366298I think you mean Aqualish. And that's a threat. Set blasters to blast.
>>25366298>Threatening soldiers of the EmpireThat's a blasting. Shoot this punk.
>>25366298We cannot be seen to be cowed by the threats of some cantina scum. Order them off the premises, and if the loud one continues to act threateningly or is non-compliant, blast 'em.
>>25366298shoot him in the foot.
Rolled 9>>25366298"Torch and Burn boys">>25366307My point is that I doubt the officer would allow an Alien to live. The Empire views non humans as second class citizens.
>>25366298Set the blaster to stun; if we get into a firefight I don't want to have to pay for damages out of our pocket, because you can bet that our CO's gonna make us pay for any collateral damage."Hey, put the man down. No fighting in the bar."
>>25366320>>25366348Shoot the fucker. Stun if there's enough support for that. Then detain the other guy.
>>25365258The above post was me.>end conclusion of this argument seemed to be that I was whiteknighting>My reasoning was neither immoral nor moral, it was amoral>the above described stategy is the modern and proved strategy for fighting sedition and insurgency, do some strategy researchSame reason Alexander the Great of Cyrus promoted cultural tolerance. There was no moral aspect to it, they didn't do it because it was the "right" thing to do. They did it because it provided the best results.
>>25366320Dammit and I was just on Wookipedia to make sure I got that name right, oh well.
>>25366388Bump for stun
>>25366372>The Empire views non humans as second class citizens. That it does. But a massive part of being a citizen of the Empire and one of the core components of being a stormtrooper is obey our superiors without question.
>>25366232Maybe we were born on backwater redneck planet full of space racists?>>25366286This is what I meant, sorry if I wasn't clear.
>>25366320This.He gets one warning, then blast him.
Rolled 13>>25366452Fair Enough. I'm just saying how I'd play it, that's all.
>>25366316In two months?
>>25366460>Maybe we were born on backwater redneck planet full of space racists?I dunno, we were a pickpocket on Coruscant, one of the most culturally and species-diverse planets in the galaxy.
>>25366497Might have been more; OP wasn't specific.
>>25366298Don't even hesitate, but knock the sense out of that punk with your rifle butt immediately. No point in wasting good ammo on him. Cuff him and drag him to the prison with you.
>>25366503Which has been governed by the Imperial speciest policies for our entire life. Being a human at least made us better than the alien scum around us and the only reason we were poor was because shifty aliens took all the good jobs. You can be speciest while surrounded by aliens your whole life. It makes sense.
>>25366497We're soldiers of the empire now. I care more for my own life then that of some non-human alien, I'm pretty sure they beat the reward of failure to comply with orders within those two months
>>25366355Aqualish have a notorious temper; the persuasion check is going to be hard.As for blast or stun it seems to be a pretty even split; I'll give you guys a little more time to decide.
>>25366626Gonna have to go with the blastNo one threatens the Empire, or the Empire's finest
>>25366626Stun. He hasn't pointed a weapon at us but he has threatened us. Stun his ass and take him in.
>>25366626One warning, then blast.>>25366598I think strict adherence to command structure suits us better than racist redneck in a stormtrooper suit.
>>25366655Second the stun.If he draws a weapon of any kind, blast him.
>>25366626Draw weapon, Give him ONE warning, and blow his ass to hell if he draws on us.We are NOT dying THIS early in the game
>>25366683I was suggesting that we shouldn't rebel against the speciest policies of the Empire. Not that we should be a one man lynch mob.
Rolled 15>>25366692Set blasters to killThough I wouldn't mind a less violent approach
>>25366713Oh, in that case I agree. The trouble with that is that it quickly turns into blasting every alien on sight all too easily.
>>25366777Not really, we're like LA cops, not trigger happy maniacs.
Rolled 7>>25366626Persuade. Have to prove we are officer material.
>>25366774>>25366844I guess that means a blast-off then?
>>25366653>>25366655>>25366683>>25366691>>25366706Both you and your partner set your blasters to stun and take aim at the enraged Aqualish. " Put the man down and place your hands behind your head" you say in an authoritative voice. The alien seems to give some thought to the options you just gave him and slowly places the man down on the ground. " Put your hands behind your head" you repeat, this time louder. The Aqualish gives you a look that would make a rancor pale, and slowly places his hands behind his head. You walk slowly towards him, keeping your blaster trained on him. While he's obeying orders, you don't trust him; Aqualish have a temper that's made them famous throughout the whole galaxy, there's no way this one would give up that easily. You get closer to the alien and tell him to turn around, " No" he says defiantly. That's all the excuse you need; you squeeze the trigger.Make a roll please
>>25366626Stun him in the arsehole.
Rolled 3>>25366929"Idiot, You could've made this easy on yourself"
Rolled 7>>25366929His arsehole belongs to the empire.
Rolled 11>>25366929He has a weapon, goody.
Rolled 19>>25366929Pop pop pop, muthafukkas gonna drop drop drop
>>25366948This, totally taze him in the ass.
Rolled 1>>25366929OP which roll you take?
Rolled 10>>25366929For the Empire
>>25366993Hopefully not this one
Rolled 12>>25366957The shame I feel at my rolling is horrifying.
>>25367011'Police brutality LEEEEROYY JENKINSS'
>>25366957> Rolled 3... and nothing happensYour stomach drops into your feet as you hear the pathetic "click" of a stun round misfire. The Aqualish roars and punches you in the chest; his inhuman strength propelling you a good 4 feet. You crash into the other recruit, knocking him out cold and sending you both to the ground. You try to get up, stunned and out of breath. The Aqualish picks you up and clamps his hands around your neck, making it impossible to breathe. Your world starts spinning, blackness is creeping into your periphery....BLAM BLAMYou feel two streaks of heat pass through the space between your legs, dangerously close to your nether regions. The Aqualish roars in pain and lets go of your neck, clutching the two perfect circles burned into his abdomen. Before you can understand what's going on you hear two more loud blasts and see two red streaks pass through the Aqualish's head, dropping him instantly.Your commanding officer runs over to you " You okay" she asks? you nod weakly, still trying to catch your breath and she helps you up. " You like being the center of attention, don't you?" she says sarcastically, " About as much as you like taking your time" you retort. She snickers and says " Come on, we need to wake up the other recruit."
>>25367410We have failed the Empiretime for sudoku
>>25367410Not our finest moment. Check if we have broken anything, then see if the aqualish is still alive. Also, detain the other gambler, it's part his fault that this whole thing happened.
>>25367410Make sure to grab the other guy so that we can get a statement for him and file a proper incident report to the local authorities. We're in the Empire, OF COURSE we have to file a report.
Rolled 8>>25367410"I guess time for paperwork Boss?"
>>25367410That was lame as fuck, they'll be mocking us for days. Let's check if we're okay.
>>25367410Grab the other guy for the report, and try to wake up the other recruit.Man, there's gonna be so much paperwork for this. And then there's letting our weapon be out of maintenance so it misfires.
>>25367573Pfft, our armor doesn't have nametag, they'll never know it was us.
>>25367599On the other hand did we actually see anyone hit a target during the boot camp?
>>25367529You check yourself as your commanding officer tries to wake up the other recruit; your Plastoid chest plate blocked enough of the impact to where none of your bones are broken, but you have a very large purple bruise on your chest that makes it painful to breathe and move. The Aqualish recieved two blaster bolts to the head, making him very much dead. You have the local authorities deal with the clean up.>>25367540You find the other man cowering behind an overturned table. " Get up" you say, the man looks at you, very scared. " B-but I didn't do any-" you kick him in the gut and he yelps in pain. " GET.UP." you say again and the man complies. You cuff him and march him back to the front of the bar to reunite with your officer and fellow recruit, who has since woken up and is still wobbling a little. You walk out of the bar with your captive and make your way back to the jail.
>>25367573The other two recruits were busy taking the Ithorian back to the local jail, they don't have to know what happened.
>>25367734Interrogate him on general principles.
>>25367734As we walk to the jail, I step up next to our commanding officer"Maam, if it isn't to much to ask, could we not mention this to the other guys, they'd never let us live it down?"
>>25367834That's retarded. It'd be like the Streisand effect. Merely asking for that dishonors us.
>>25367834I say we never mention it to anyone ever. Lets make up for it by doing weapon maintenance every waking moment
>>25367996No, let's go with it, it'll be a nice humanizing touch to our tough guy image. We're brothers in arms so she'll probably let it slide.
>>25368042Or we could just get a real weapon instead of a standard Imperium blaster rifle piece of shit.
>>25367734Get up keep walking and go about our day without saying anything to anyone. No need to draw more attention to our self. Also, when we get a break field strip our blaster to make sure it is in working order.
>>25368050We don't want to appear weak. Asking is for the weak.
>>25368050Deeds speak louder than actions man. Just make up for this incident with extreme competence later on
>>25367734You make your way back to the jail and throw your captive inside a holding cell, he'll be released tomorrow after the proper paperwork has been filed and he's payed a fine. You find the resting quarters and take off your helmet; it's a great feeling. " TK-392!" you immediately spring to attention, doing your best to ignore the searing pain from the bruise on your chest. Your commanding officer steps through the door " you went on an active patrol without checking your weapon for faults. I don't want to sign through form after form detailing how you got yourself killed over something so stupid."" Yes Ma'am"The look on her face softens a fraction of an inch " Head down to the armory tomorrow and pick out another weapon, preferably one that works. If they don't like it, tell them they can take it up with me."" Yes, Ma'am."" That will be all TK-392, At ease". After she's left you close the door and remove the rest of your armor. You lie down on your cot and slowly drift off into a much needed sleep.and that's all for tonight. Thanks to each and every one of you for contributing. I'll archive this thread so when I do the next one you guys won't miss anything. Stay tuned!
