"All hands report to combat stations and prepare for void assault." Captain Hariso's voice carries across the vox system as your platoon of armsmen inspect eachother's carapace suits, searching for any fault in the thin skins that will soon protect them from the void. Nearby the scene is much the same as hundreds more men and women prepare for battle and plunder. Your friends Keller and Elise both nod their helmets as they catch you glancing their way, both at the head of their platoons much like yourself. This is your day, you can feel it within your chest. Your platoon will capture the bridge of the enemy vessel before the rest, earning you the coveted position of commanding the prize crew and a chance to earn yourself a permanent position as a captain within Gallagher Wilson's wolfpack. The vessel trembles as enemy fire strikes her, distant alarms sounding soon after. "Damage teams to decks 5 through 12, sections Alpha through Tango! Assault teams check in ready." With a grin, you signal your team's ready to the company's command platoon." >>24964365>If we can just avoid extreme waifuing, we can have a lot of fun. There's literally a greater chance of the sun exploding right now than there is of avoiding the curse of the waifu. At least if we're a male character it won't be so gay.

>>24964482>have discipline and focus on the privateering rather than waifu shit.It is difficult to focus when your are a hivemind.Unfortunately, a huge portion of the /tg/ hivemind loves to waifu.
>>24964539Shrinking the sandbox is always a bad idea.
>>24964107I say go with this one.
Distant, dull thuds reverberate through the deck and up your flesh, the raider's specialized guns launching massive, hooked chains at it's victim. For a moment, you sense the vessel lurch, but the sudden momentum is quickly compensated for and neutralized. You are Percius Aurex, techpriestess of mars and formerly a captive of the very pirate vessel you now serve. Captured as a lowly adept, you quickly put your limited skills and quest for knowledge to use for these pirates, sensing that they would open new options for your own quest and skills to grow. Flanked by 30 biological defense units under your command, you make your way to the platoon's assigned egress point and prepare to seize your moment. As your flesh brain's excitement is suppressed by the logic of your cogitators, you ponder your tactical situation and objectives...Objective 1: Gain entry to the enemy ship. Melta charges and cutters assigned to your platoon make this trivial, but the location your BDUs enter the target is quite important.>How near the enemy's bridge will you attempt to insert your team? Objective 2: Secure the bridge. The ship's captain is unlikely to go down without a fight, and many times the first team to reach the bridge fails to survive to enjoy their victory in the 'rat race' as Captain Hariso calls it.Objective 3: Survive. After all, you can't continue your quest for knowledge if you're dead!
>>24964560Oh god, now we're a woman.Fuck this, I'm out.
>>24964544Alternately, we could seek to gain a harem befitting a pirate lord, satisfying the waifu impulse without all the emo relationshit.
>>24964560ITS LIVES!>Option 4. Target the Life support systems. take them and we can suffocate the crew. make it two pronged to look like were aiming at the Cargo bay so they don't try and scuttle the ship.
>>24964587That would be really fun.
>>24964560Reasonably close that we're not the first team to make it but close enough to be there to take over when the initial teams fail. Of course, friendly fire is always a risk if the first team actually manages to take over the bridge.
>>24964560above the Bridge if possible. Then we can cut though the floor and send the BDU's right into the thick of it...
>>24964560>How near the enemy's bridge will you attempt to insert your team?Through the bridge windows.
>>24964560Close enough that it's not a long walk, far enough taht we don't drop right into a pile of dudes. Preferably above the bridge so we can put holes in the floor and have the high ground as we assault, and along a untraveled area of the ship so we're less likely to run into opposition.
>>24964539>permanently eliminate some avenues of character expression and player choice so that they're more likely to get the game they wantWell.... Honestly, yes. When you boil it down, that's the core of it.The only reason I support it, is because it's never about about the character or the narrative. It's just about the waifus. To the expense of all else.In quests where the waifufaggotry was clamped down on, and real character development and relationships were developed often turn out great. But just waifuing doesn't give that.
>>24964555Alas, it seems you were a few minutes late with that vote, anon.
Knew y'all shouldn't of picked new game plus. New game plus is always dull.
>>24964754Don't blame me, I voted for the foppish nobleman. >>24964107
>>24964560>>24964683 Sorry, let me rephrase thatObjective 1: about 750 meter from the bridgeObjective 2: Let some other team get to the bridge first then ambush and kill them claim you did everythingObjective 3: If team 1 fail to kill captain lay in ambush and wait for team 2
>>24964777I agree. Much better than trying to enter directly onto the bridge or destroying a vital system on a ship we want to capture and keep.
>>24964560>your platoon of armsmen inspect eachother's carapace suitsAre we void suit equipped? If yes: I say open the sections we take to the void one by one.Place breaching charge on bridge doors.Stand well back.Boom.Even if they're also void suited, the explosive decompression will kill or maim half of them and the rest will be thrown about and easy to overwhelm.
>>24964850You do know that the decompression from 1 atmo to vacuum isn't really that bad, sure you die if you're in a vacuum and not suited up, but it's a different of one fucking atmosphere, maybe a bit more if the ship is over pressurized, there's not going to be much in the way of maiming, killing, or throwing about from that.
>>24964107Voting for this one.
>>24964905Oh wait, disregard that. Didn't see we'd already gotten past character creation.
>>24964573Safe travels, anon.>>24964596>target the life support of a ship you're looking to steal and captainCogitator core 596 may be in need of self-diagnostic. Noted for later.>>24964643>>24964656>direct bridge insertion plansMultiple platoons working together would likely be required for such an action, as nearby enemy positions would be left intact. Keller and Elise would likely support you, but more would be better.>>24964658>>24964777>medium-range insertion [750 meters is only about half of the ship, though]>possible betrayal of other piratesValue assessment of fellow pirates is acceptable.>few more minutes for more ideas or support changes
So a New Game+ is the exact same quest with a few minor changes and a almost assuredly different but overall predictable ending?
>>24964993Maybe if you did the same shit as the first game...? Sandbox setting. I don't know why you think the ending is set. Don't do the same stupid shit you did in the previous one and you'll be fine.
>>24964850Yes, every armsman is equipped with a void suit and carapace over that. Most of the crew is, as well.>>24964899this is true, but lack of air is generally bad for everyone, including those with punctured void suits.
>>24965018the ending was, not like what you think it was.
>>24964899>there's not going to be much in the way of maiming, killing, or throwing about from that.I think you're underestimating the effects of explosive decompression. The instant venting of atmosphere would cause a violent pressure shift. It takes appraisingly little PSI to fuck someone up.
>>24964199>>24964993>>24965018>>24965092I thought the trope-filled ending was decent, considering my complete lack of ideas at the time...
>>24964958Vote for medium range insertion.Breach at a reasonable distance, advance section by section, open the decks to the void as you go.Expose the bridge to explosive decompression with breaching charges.
>>24965092I'm sure enough that it resulted from some silly choices that were made during the quest though.
>>24965281Not really, no. It was more of a I'm bored, you all die, no you don't get to roll type thing.
>>24965175Eh, a lot of people were trying to establish their own empire lots of fun to be had there.
>NG+Wait, are we really just doing a slightly different version of the same story as last time?Fuck it. Shadow Quest is bound to return soon anyway.
>>24965345I think too many people piled in to declare themselves techpriests because they were afraid of waifu's pity too, as it was over before I was able to vote.
>>24965330I Still Want My Damned Hidden System Station!!!>>24965314On that note, have you sorted out the major points to the sub-sector we get to play in?or are you running it just like the last one?
>>24965373Yeah, I just got here. Voting was over fast.
>>24965429That's not even MS dude. Just some mad guy.
>>24965448Not shouting at him. just lamenting over plans that never got the chance to see fruition...
The compartment slowly drains of atmosphere as you grip your clip harness and prepare to secure to the platoon's boarding cable. Some of the more foolhardy pirates enjoy the thrill of leaping to the target ships unassisted, but only a small number of such manage to survive the maneuver. Time seems to drag on for ages as your cogitators debate the advantages of various insertion ideas, including a direct breach on the bridge itself. Daring, but in many cases suicidal. Eventually, you decide upon a moderately distant insertion. With luck, you calculate that your force will arrive just in time to not save the first team...Another shock resonates as the chains pull your vessel into contact with the target, and your comparment's armored door opens with a minute hiss. Before you is a massive ship, easily a kilometer and a half and dwarfing your platoon, yet dwarfed by all others of her kind. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of small weapons batteries cut across the void between the two vessels as both also begin to swarm with thousands of armsmen and crew. Steeling your awed flesh brain, your cogitators sent the impulses to jump. Inertia and the safety line carry you across, magnetic boots securing you to the hull as your BDUs and fellow pirates fire. Lasgun at the ready, you advance toward an area you calculate will suit your insertion goals perfectly. Unfortunately, it seems you'll have to fight your way through a small squad of foes![Combat Begins!]>7 enemies stand in your path!>damnit captcha stop being a bitch tonight!>Orders?
Rolled 43>>24965546Blast 'em!
>>24965471...but that's what happens when a quest ends. Your plans are lost to the winds of time and unfulfilled imaginings. Which is the beauty of new quests, you get to make new plans, try new things and interact with new characters pulled from the story tellers mind.Tl;dr. Keep living in the past Face and your going to miss the future.
>>24965579Meh, I still want to do that. Need a pile of bitches for the pirate queen though
>>24965579technically, he is living in the future and missing the past. PQ originally took place post-M41, now you're in M41 and running roughly parallel to [and currently in the same sector as] a certain Chapter Quest. Cross-overs should be interesting, to say the least!
>>24965546Let the BDUs deal with them. We should mess with the door controls to prevent any unwanted company in our flank...
>>24965618We're in the past, eh? New goal: become the great-grandparent of the protagonist from the original quest.
>>24965686You are currently in the void, on the target vessel. Your ideal point of insertion into the ship is beyond the enemy armsmen.>also, you'll need to roll for your BDU platoon, 3d100's for shooting. Please roll them together.

This doesn't seem to have gone very well.Maybe try restarting it tomorrow night?
"Blast 'em!"Your BDUs send a storm of las-bolts into the seven men, cutting down six of their number quickly while you place a single shot into the chest of the seventh. Lost in the storm, the fire of your enemies fails to find any of your men. The machine god smiles upon you as your force secures the location you've picked out, two of your BDUs setting the melta charges as friends and foes alike swarm and war across the surrounding hull. A shudder as your charges detonate, turning the thin armor of the vessel into a massive jet of molten plasteel and adamantium. The decompression of the section pulls a half dozen corpses, most missing large portions of their mass and sporting obvious burns where they were caught in the blast. One unfortunate soul is sucked into the void without a void suit, the thin presence of escaping atmosphere protecting him from the void until he is several meters clear. "Emperor protects" mutters one of your BDUs."Into the vessel! Squad Alpha, clear the point!">3 squads available: squad 3 contains a pair of demolitions specialists, the remainder are generic armsmen.>Plan of attack for your route to the bridge?>Breakthrough and press your attacks on defense points.>Flank and encircle, crushing your enemies between your full forces.>Other?>Where will you lead from?>Navigation Roll 1d100>Combat Roll 1d100>Squad Rolls 3d100

>>24966490I am. But I think people left from being too mad at certain options. Hopefully some of the old regulars show up after they see this has restarted.
>>24966527I get the sense that most people didn't realize what they were voting for when they picked the NG+ option. As one of the old regulars, I'd rather either start a wholly new quest, or continue where we left off.
>>24966568What do you think was picked? As far as I can tell, it just unlocked certain things or references that might be relevant from the old PQ. Not like we're restarting from day 1 as Elesh.
>>24966568I wouldn't mind returning to the old crew... Either way, I'm looking forward to it.MachineSpirit, do you have the twitters?Have you got some plot for this one?Do you have an Interesting Persons List?Is sending an enemy vessel into the warp without a geller field on the off chance that it will return shortly as a Hulk filled with treasure something that is liable to be legitimately considered by Aurex?
>>24966494Does our character have stats rolled yet or we gonna do that later?
>>24966568All NG+ really did was fix the gender choice and unlock extra event/perils/interaction options or tables. If you'd like, I'll set up a survey to let people vote on the gender factor of NG+ for the next thread, though some of the things would probably start upping your insanity in that case.minor examples: dreams/nightmares being flashbacks/forwards to PQ eventsmajor example: "that frigate seems familiar..."
>>24966610I assumed that was the sequel option. You know, take over after the apparent demise of the last quest's protagonist.Otherwise I'd have probably voted for >>24964107
>>24966758Might as well. Seems like the whole NG+ issue is bugging some people.

>>24966758I don't know about the other anons ITT, but the gender of our character doesn't bother me one way or the other.Being a tech priest, gender shouldn't really matter all that much.
>>24966719Stats were fixed based on character type. I'll have them posted to the wikia for the next thread.>>24966692The old crew is dead, well... unborn, rather. Most of them had a decent fate in another game or two, though. No twitters. I loathe birds.Plot? yes. Several, actually. And I've also got several partners in crime who will help come up with crazy side-plots. Mostly, though, you've got over 100 solar systems to do shit in after you've discovered them.An Interesting Persons List does indeed exist, and will be maintained on the wiki once you encounter them. You want to do what?
>>24966941>You want to do what?I think he means to sabotage the warp drives of the enemy ship, causing it to briefly enter the warp unprotected so as to kill off its crew, leaving only the loot behind.
>>24966790>>24966808>>24966835You will be returning to PQ's original sector some... 3000 years before the events of PQ. The sector is in the first 10 years of discovery and filled with loot.Currently, your pirate wolfpack is operating within Sector Deus, the setting of Skargan's Chapter Quest, in order to secure what the pirate lord you serve believes you'll require for your adventure into the unknown. [proper channels have been taken for this]
>>24967024Such a plan would generally be sending a ship on a one-way trip. I've always seen the warp drive as simply tearing a hole between reality and the warp, flying through it, and then propelling the ship through the warp. If you break it during transit, you're still in the warp, just stuck with the currents and you're kind of stuck there until you fix it.
>>24966941Once this really kicks off, I'll see about adding it to my Archive Storybooks...A Mad-Genius plan really, You take 1 captured ship, complete with mook level crew (no captain, no navigator, no astropath, no techpriests...) Remove it's Geller Field Generator, Set it for a delayed Warp Jump, Leave for unspecified quantity of time (pray to the immortal God Emperor for warp-time-jiggery-pokery and luck)Hope for outcomes;- turned into a Space Hulk- Localised exit- Short time Realspace, Long time in the WarpThen board and collect the considerable quantity of loot that could have accumulated though its unpleasant adventure...
>>24967136... you would have a statistically greater chance of never seeing any Fe in a score of solar systems, I calculate.
>>24967136That's a terrible idea. What if the ship's crew turn to Chaos, and when it emerges from the warp, you've got thousands of pissed off cultists ready to spill your blood for the glory of Khorne?
>>24966494and once again a quest I'd like to participate in has started at a time I couldn't catch it.ah well, I hope you'll have more fun running it than last time.as a tech priest you people might need a face-bag
