You are Ssen, a Lamia raised by a human Paladin who adopted you after killing the ones who birthed you. You are grown now, and Father has passed on. After a great deal of work, you have become a Paladin like your Father, and now take up his duties. You are accompanied by your best friend from childhood, the insect druid Tricia; Mage, a magic user who ran away from his family of cannibal raiders known as the Ghouls (Yes, his name is Mage. It was his idea); Persephone, a 22-year old thief/ex-guerllia fighter (She goes by Peri), and Mari, a 13-year old prodigy scholar/now sniper, who has her mind and soul trapped within Peri's body; and Lea, a deeply religious musician/martial artist, trained by her father, a famous trainer for arena fighters, she's covered from her mouth down in bandages to hide the horrific state her body has become thanks to the 'cures' that saved her from cancer.Your journey continues...Opening theme song (NEW for Season 3!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMyj9SEDHZIhttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Lamia%20Quest1d4 chan page w/battle stats: http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Quest:Lamia_Daughter_Quest
Your invasion of Lord Holting's manor was very effective. You managed to get through the house without issue, and you even got into the treasure vault. There you not only found the woodman's compass (Along with another Miner's compass and two others.) but you finally were able to obtain one of the Dramatae's oh-so-precious masks. Masks made out of untainted Lantern Metal. You also found a collection of large gems. Gems that Lord Holting used to imprison the souls of the people who's bodies he, and Lady Glenn, had been possessing over generations. You grabbed everything that wasn't nailed down, and made a break for it. Taking with you a large amount of Rage's library as well. You managed to get back to Stone Hall, and foil any attempts of pursuit. However, Tragedy (or Lord Holting if you rather call him that), would not allow you to have a clean victory. Using the mask to speak to you. He delivered an ultimatum. Return the mask, or he would kill Robin, Ryan, and Jessi. It didn't matter that these were the Dramatae's best agents. The trio had gotten the army and sacked First Wood. Their obvious use was over. Also, this was a move mixed with desperation and spite. You told Holting to go rot in the Darkness, and melted the mask down. As a result, Robin and his crew paid the ultimate price...and until you find a way to free them, their souls are trapped within Citadel. Used as building material for its endless expansion.
Just before I'm going to bed again, EU timezone sure is awful. Hope this will be a less traumatic session than the previous.
Damnit, what time is it where you are Echo? It's quarter past midnight over here (I can't really complain though, even if I can't really participate much I know I'll have a beautiful bounty to read in the morning)
Right a couple things on our agenda.1) Informing Granny that the Dramatae know of her presence here in Stone Hall.2) Delivering the Pure Metal to be smelted with the rest of our lantern coins.3) Depositing the Notes of Rage to be examined in detail with someone who can catalog them and summerize the more important parts.4) Spending some time off to mourn our friends and take a break. 5) Inform Dana of our screw up. She is exiled.6) Sit with Granny and Tristia to help her with her new bodies.7) We are no longer operating under secrecy they know we are coming so we need to either prepare for a more complicated plan then 'sneak in and hope for the best' otherwise we will be fighting an army.
>>248496844:22pm PST. I live in the Seattle area.
>>24849759Oh cool, you live in the rainier, across the country counterpart to my city. DCfag here.
>>24849751Well we do have three things to do in White TreeOne: Pick up LightmareTwo: Make sure Mari's original body is safe. It's an easy easy target for the Dramatae. I'd rather it be in Stone Hall. Three: We poison the Teleport station in the Conclave vault to deny some access to White Tree
>>24849751I wish we could ask Lightmare to break out of the stables and come here. It'd be so much easier then taking the time to go there.
>>24849627>their souls are trapped within CitadelThey're not going to rest in Peace?
>>24849834>>24849751Okay, so you have pressing stuff to do in Stone Hall and stuff to do in White Tree. Do you want to leave right away after dropping off the spoils at the Lighthouse, or spend a day or two here first?
>>24850027As much as I would like to rush out to White Tree, I think we can spare a day.
>>24850027I'd like to at least spend a day here. Not sure if we can afford to, but screw it.
>>24850027Definitely spending a day or two here. We need a small break.
>>24850027Let's spend a day, we can spare that much, and honestly, I'm worried our group'll burn themselves out if they don't take a moment to relax.
>>24850027I think that we should check in on the home base, and Adhan if this is where he is.
Spend a day... but only to relax a little. I worry that perhaps we should go to whitehall destroy the teleport if possible, and then take a rest.>>24849834ah yes, but if we move it, it'll become a target.... hmmmm we could always see about leaving it with granny perhaps?
>>24850115Adahn's cooling his heels in jail.Ambrose Trapp handles the bar of Lantern Metal with the kind of care and awe you'd expect someone to give to something like Her Illuminated Self's miter, or Lord King Newgate's crown."Such a treasure. I'll have Barney start on melting down the coins and crafting the mirrors right away." He shakes his head as he places the bar aside and then looks at Rage's notes. "This is..." He shakes his head. "I don't know if this is horrifying or amazing. The detail, the history...the horrific truth..." He sighs. "It'll take me some time to properly date this information and make it useful." He shakes his head and then looks up at you. "I'm sorry though. I've been unable to locate any trace of what the spell circles of the Great Seal look like." He shrugs. "It seems that most of the original Caligo Clarus felt that writing down a record of the most powerful spell in the kingdom that has the power to sunder Gods was a poor idea."
>>24850256"Look for something in plain sight. Like the coins. Family crests perhaps?"
Ah, lamia quest! I somehow didn't see you while looking for you. Looks like we're talking to adahn now.
>>24850256"That, or Peace thought it was a bad idea..."
>>24850256"Well, I guess the original caligo clarus weren't nearly as silly as I am then. What a bother. "We need to talk to avery about all this. And then talk to granny about all this. Then hug children. then check in with billings real quick about the old prisoner if we have time, and reunive adahn with ava if she's here yet.
>>24850103yes. Remember tricia's cryptic warning? And by cryptic I mean not cryptic at all. We'll go fuckin' nuts.
considering it takes two weeks to travel without Mage's haste spell I doubt Ava is here yet. (Did mage ever patent that thing?)
>>24850374Family time with Tricia, Granny and the girls.
>>24850384well, we spent a week getting to coral to pick up our horse, then like three days on down to white tree, and then we did the mask theft and we're here. So she could have MAYBE made it, if she was murdering that horse riding so fast.
>>24850408hell, I was thinking of having a "not-actually-a-secret-any-more" get together for granny.
>>24850286"That or Peace thought it was a bad idea. Try looking for something in plain sight. Like the coins. Family crests perhaps?""Do you think I'm some Citadel addled Conclave fool?" Ambrose snorts. "Show some respect to your appointed archivist!""Again," Mage says. "None of us ever asked to you be our arc-""Although there may be some leads, or Light be willing, diagrams in these," He gestures to the Rage notes. "There's another place you can look. I doubt it'll be easy now, thanks to current events...but one of the original Claigo Clarus was an elf." Ambrose says. "The Amber Memories could have something.""Fat chance of that, then." Peri says. "The Fey Court holds the majority of those old hunks of rock. Donovan and I were part of that raid, back in the day, right after we became members of the Court."Ambrose shrugs. "It's just an option I thought of.""Wasn't a bad one." Peri says. "But Queen Mab's got the Memories...or whoever's yelling the loudest now." She shrugs.
>>24850518"Why, that's wonderful! Dealing with the fey court and first wood was already on the list anyhow. Once we get there."
>>24850518Well chances are we'll encounter Mab sooner or later. The Dramatae are using her as part of their army of darkness.Anyway to Dana next. I think we should talk to her first before we have any fun. Let her decide on what shes going to do.
>>24850583yeah, dana first. Then avery. Then once we get ALL of that fucking business out of the way... we can take a few hours break.
>>24850518Talk to Dana, and then >>24850408>>24850431
Who the hell do we drop these soul stones off with?I hope avery or granny knows.
>>24850613We can check with Avery for any Conclave mages on the shorter list is in Stone Hall.
>>24850518>>24850582Be sure to thank him as we head off to Dana."Thanks for all the hard work, Avery. Glad we have some people to help get the books in order."
>>24850603>>24850600>>24850583Dana is in the 'artificial hot spring' relaxing. She smiles at you when you enter the room. "Hello!" She says. "This is amazing. Normally I have to swim all around, and then I find a place that's all muddy and filled with the smell of rotten ends that occasionally means an explosion if there are not-fireflies around." She sinks under the water and then comes back up. "But this is clean and smells fresh. It's quite useful and I think I may be escorting you back here for quite a while."
>>24850725"I made a mistake. I promised someones life in exchange for information after they had harmed the Mer. Because you accompanied me here they exiled you."

When we finished the fighting to end the ambushes, one of the enemies surrendered to me, as a paladin. I allowed this, and got what information I could from him about where the captured mer-people were, but in doing so, I kept him from the vengeance of the remaining mermen. They... They no longer are my friends. They no longer want you to come back. They don't want anything I've touched. I'm so sorry."That's the gist of it right? I'm working on memory here.

>>24850912damnit, if we didn't have tricia, I would suggest the possibility of romancing dana, she's awesome.I think when echo gets back, we need to go straight to granny though.
>>24850954yup to Granny. Say goodbye to Dana. We can ask about good Leviathan jokes during the beach party.

>>24850968yeah. We'll have a good long chat about our adventures. Then about how the kids are doing. Maybe sort of both at the same time.>>24850954Dana's a strong fish woman who don't need no woman
>>24850975this, perfect response.>>24850997true, but she's just too cool really, or is that just me?
>>24851158Hey, that's fine. She would be better than some.I've personally rooted for much less popular couples. Isen/Ssen, the ship that sails along the bottom of the ocean
>>24851219And is so dead its crewed by Davy Jones and his undead crew?
>>24851255Pretty much, yeah.
>>24851289And one day it'll rise up to exact a dark vengeannce upon the world?
>>24851219I actually would've been okay with that.Maybe I just enjoy rooting for the underdog, and in a /tg/ quest with a female protagonist, the underdog is anything that doesn't involve lesbianism.
>>24851344It really is...
true, if i'd been an active participant at the time, i would have voted for mage, not tricia.
>>24851219I would have been okay with that, but Isen already had Tara when we met him, wouldn't want to break up that couple.
>>24851384But that'd be weird, he's our bound serv- Oh wait. Old One x Grace.
I should not have mentioned my sunken ship. All the other ones are becoming restless.
>>24851344>the underdog is anything that doesn't involve lesbianism.Paul x ??
>>24851444Paul x Mumei.
Paul likes guys.
>>24851532This is why most match-ups with Paul would be hilarious.
>>24851532This.So Paul x Isen.
>>24849759You gotta be shitting me, Echo. I live just across the Sound in B-Town.
>>24851562I was under the impression that Isen didn't like the D.
>>24851562Tara watches. You know what, let's never ask Isen about his sex life.
>>24851576I wonder how Isen feels about girls who have the D.
>>24851576no, no he doesn't.
>>24851562So Isen x Tara + Mumei + Paul? I guess Paul and Mumei would spend a lot of time hiding away with various logbooks and joking about the "loon peacock".
>>24851591Don't bring that shit into this.
so, anyone want to have a rough story of what to tell granny? Or are we just doing the narrative trope of "And so Ssen told her everything" to skip over that bit?Basically, dramatic retelling, Y/N?
So it just occurred to me with this talk of Isen.Granny promised Isen and Tara some action if they kept her secret for many years. Her secret has just become meaningless.>>24851603Kneejerk response to joke for fear of BFQ confirmed.
>>24851625yep!Sorry Isen. I promise we didn't intend for this to be an overly elaborate cockblock.
>>24851625Only to the Dramatae. Regulars still don't know.Yep.
>>24851654well, we were keeping her a secret from the dramatae. That was the point.
>>24851616>dramatic retellingshould we write a play?
>>24851707No, but Isen is going to, once he is let in on the story.Maybe not, since he wasn't in this one.
>>24851707It would be a Tragedy.
>>24851730Isen can play the pivotal role in the final battle.Peace might chill out after a good hard dicking.
>>24851344As one of the participants in the quest at the time: honestly, I don't think the choice took that into account one way or another. C'mon, you know the childhood friend is going to win. /tg/ is sappy that way. Childhood male friend would have had the best chance of winning, too.
In quests generally the first person we meet that the character responds to is the one who catches /tg/'s eye. If we had encountered Mage first I have no doubt most would have encouraged getting with him.
>>24851747>tragedyOh, poor Ryan and Robin. Jessi maybe not, she might be a ghost and really enjoy this turn of events given her proclivities. I am not sure how poor Jessi is here.
>>24851773>Childhood male friend would have had the best chance of winning, too.I would direct your attention to Psion Quest, where the childhood male friend got friend-zoned hard.
>>24851814He friendzoned himself. Crabcake /tg/ incarnate had much better chances but was still pretty damn beta. Anyway, we're off topic.
>>24851814we didn't actually encounter him until later. by then the people had decided on Anna or Summer or Sarvesh
>>24851814I think>>24851793accurately describes the reason for that. Took quite a while before Alex showed up in that quest.
>>24851793It's funny how that applies to players in RPGs in general. They instantly connect with the first person who's nice to them.
>>24851898assuming they don't have some sweet duds
>>24851898>>24851793Not sure if this is applicable because of the harem end, but in Commander Quest the first girl that Justinian ended up going for was the fourth one to show up. And her debut featured her trying to kill him.
>>24852024did she have a tragic past? /tg/ loves solving that sorta thing.
>>24852024How many of /tg/'s quests have had a harem end? The only piece of writing from here I could think of was heretical love
>>24852052Heres another good question how many of /tg/'s quests have an actual ending?
>>24852052I've never seen it actually turn out well.
>>24852042She did. Though so did the first girl.
>>24852052Not many, which is why I find it funny when I see people complaining that they're "sick of harem endings" in quests.
>>24852086does it count if you declare "THE END!" and continue adventures the next week in epilogue?
>>24852052Lamia Quest was heading for it for a while. Then we entered Citadel and got more than a little turned off by it.
Was there ever an explanation for the sudden end of Commander Quest, it went for over 100 threads, then just suddenly stopped.
Okay guys we're sort of veering wildly offtopic. We're supposed to be practicing one-liners to use when we finally take down a dramatae.
>>24852086I can only think of two. Street Fighter Quest and a prequel to it. Maybe a few sequels and side stories too.
>>24852024That's probably because she was really, really easy, even with the whole "trying to kill each other" bit.
>>24850922Ambrose: Please pay special attention when viewing to sit a safe distance from the screen.Dana: Indeed else the jellied salmon shall shrivel up and make a tasty salad.Ambrose: What?
>>24852086Three of Exabyte's quests have ended.NearFuture Cyborg Quest, Sorceress Quest and Vale Quest.
>>24852134"All stories must come to an end."Just cheezy enough to even earn a groan of frustration from Peace herself.
>>24852134"Your mask looks stupid."
>>24852139I like that Dana doesn't seem to mind being an occupant. I hope she makes some great paintings. Of algae clouds.
>>24852144>>24852135Im not saying it NEVER happens. No ive seen many quest have an official ending. But i would say at least +75% just die off one day as players lose interest or GM stop caring, which is sad as we lose wayyy too many good quests that way.
>>24852115I don't think it was headed there so much as that there were as many people advocating that as several other options, and then Citadel happened, and pretty much nobody wanted it anymore.
>>24852135Have you forgotten Ruby Quest already?
>>24852134I still like "Peace out".
>>24852300dubs confirm. we must say this.
>>24851898Doesn't have to be "nice"; it's more like the first really interesting and deep character. Personality matters a great deal.
>>24852300>>24852306I've never liked that one.
>>24851444Paul x Mage would have been entertaining.
>>24852134Do we want witty ones or terrible puns that will make everyone cringe?
>>24852367terrible ones. We're part leviathan, after all.
>>24852351It's hilarious, but a bit too much OOC pop-culture for this universe, I think.
>>24852367Or a witty Leviathan pun that makes everyone cringe?
>>24852367Witty leviathan-worthy puns.
>>24852391Is anybody even going to get a witty leviathan-worthy pun but us?
>>24852455There's always the two other Lamia. Maybe Dana.
>>24852455loneliness + alienation + fear + despair + self-worth ÷ mockery ÷ condemnation ÷ misunderstanding × guilt × shame × failure × judgment n=y where y=hope and n=folly, love=lies, life=death, self=aristocrats
>>24852455well peace is very likely fluent in many languages and dialects. She'd prolly get it.
>>24852455Tricia might get used to them enough to fake a laugh eventually. Lea will always cringe, Mari will think way too hard about it while Peri's facepalming. Mage will probably just let it pass him by. Granny will never understand our sense of humor and scold us for the horrible influence we are on Ssai and Ssad when they start enjoying our jokes.
>>24852112If you reach a satisfying conclusion to the main story arc? It counts.>>24849751So, we've done 3, 5, and part of 2 from this list. If there's enough of it, I think we should get all the mirrors we need made, and see about making Mirror Clang (gnalC) as well. After that, I think we ought to go for 1 and 6 next. No fundamental reason for Granny and Avery not to meet at this point, and Tricia needs to get the benefit of the kind of training that Granny gave Ssen several times over. And we could use a bit more, too. Ideally some training to improve accuracy, going by discussions in recent threads. Then I think we want to make a quick jaunt back to Bronze Peak, followed by a well-planned trip to the Grove by way of White Tree. Unfortunately a fairly slow one at first with Lightmare all the way in White Tree.
>>24852544>horrible influence on Ssai and SsadIt's already begun. We took them on a boat ride through the rapids. They loved it.
>>24852572I really hope julian and whatever other captives are there are okay.
>>24852585>>24852544I suppose we're their badass onee-sama. Or crazy older sister. Or batshit insane aunt.

>>24852686>>24852737Dana would be so ashamed.
>>24852737I'm in complete agreement here. It was just an example of an incredibly terrible mathy one-liner. (And it's not original, either; it's from College Saga.)

>>24853190same way he soloed all 3 of ssen's mothers and like 30 lizardmen. Fucker was scary.>>24853062Can we do the hug/lift/spin combo that julian did on us? Or is that exclusive to people with legs? If so, just hug/lift.
>>24853113oh I misinterpreted that sentence...
>>24853204"Happier now that I'm around you again. You're learning quickly!"
>>24853204Smile."I'm very happy, you're learning fast!"
>>24853204"Very happy! You little ones learn fast, it makes me proud. I bet you'll make all sorts of friends, knowing two tongues."
>>24853204Cry and smile, both.
Man, they pick up languages quick. We picked up languages quick.I wonder if that's a thing we're naturally good at, or a coincidence?
>>24853385considering we can process complex equations as joke material and metaphors probably we;re a natural at ordered languages.
>>24853252"Very happy." <Especially that I'm around you again. You're learning quickly!> You say, wiping away a few tears. <I'll bet you'll make all sorts of friends.> They nod and do a squeeze hug."Where are you two...oh, Little Snake." Granny says when she comes in. She sighs as she looks at you. "Some days I wish I could slam those two faces into the ground. They're running me ragged." She's smiling though. <Okay, get off Auntie and go wash up.><Awww...> They both say.<Go, or no story tonight.>The two girls take off. Granny comes up to you and sighs. "Two girls, the place is getting crowded, and I have to deal with YOU and your craziness." She shakes her head. "A year ago, I used to just sleep for a solid week at a time. I will make you pay for my missed naps. Mark my words, Little Snake. There will be a reckoning."
>>24853385Leviathan part of the brain doing work.
>>24853418"I've got a better idea. We kick Citadel's ass, and then there will be a sleepening."
>>24853418"Yeah, we've got this a bit backward. We're supposed to do the raising, and you're supposed to do the spoiling rotten. And vice versa for yours. Now if only the world would let us settle down long enough to do that."
>>24853418Hug Granny. "Of course there will. Now i have MANY things to tell you."Show her Rage's notes.
>>24853418"Fear not Granny, I can take the girls at some point and show them the wonders of sleeping on a warm rock on a hot day.
>>24853418just give her a big grin, and "And I can see you love every minute with those two, no matter how many naps you may miss because of them."
>>24853418I'll be glad to be here for it. Well good news first. We stole and melted down the mask of Tragedy. The bad news is two fold Robin, Jessia and Ryan died though. And we discovered the Notes of Rage. In them you were mentioned. They know you are here Granny. It's not a secret anymore. On the bright side you can join us on the beach tomorrow before we head out. Then explain everything we've learned on or trip since our last update. The army, how easily the Mer were corrupted, Tragedy's soul stealing etc.
>>24853418"Oh granny, you don't know how right you are. I'd kill for a week off at this point. Probably will too, given how my crazy trips go. Too bad we both seem to have our work cut out for us, eh?"
>>24853560Sounds like a plan.
>>24853083Of course -- Lamias verify who you are and that you're okay by scent.
>>24853600Fuck, that makes perfect sense in retrospect given what we know about their biology.
>>24853560>how easily the Mer were corruptedThis especially; we need to know everything we can about how to stop or reverse it.I wonder if the Lantern mirrors (or mirror shield) would have any effect there, on the small scale?
You know, on one of our trips here, we should introduce the kids to the butcher's kids. They might get along. Or become eternal enemies. Either is good.
>>24853529we should really find a nice hot rock to do this on.
>>24853529>>24853748They already did that. On Lea's arm.
>>24853823You'd think all the punching would toughen her up enough to handle a little snake hugging, hell our father was a paladin and he didn't give any fucks
>>24853558"And I can see you love every minute with those two, no matter how many naps you may miss because of them." You say to her grinning. "But, yeah we've got this a bit backward. We're supposed to do the raising, and you're supposed to do the spoiling rotten. And vice versa for yours. Now if only the world would let us settle down long enough to do that.""I wish," Granny says. "Alright, come on. We were about to eat. You too wasp witch.""I have a name.""So, good news first. We stole and melted down the mask of Tragedy. The bad news is two-fold, our friends Robin, Jessia and Ryan died. Also, we discovered the notes of Rage, he mentions you. They know you are here Granny. It's not a secret anymore."On the bright side you can join us on the beach tomorrow before we head out." You say.Granny pauses and closes her eyes. She suddenly slams her hand into the wall. Then sighs and shakes her head."Well...I suppose it was inevitable." She says. "At least it gets me out of that stupid agreement with your fool king." She shrugs. "Eh...maybe I'll just shift the terms. The dolt's been good to his word. No reason I shouldn't keep mine. I was planning on knocking him out and putting a magic suggestion in his head anyway."You continue on to explain all that you've learned. The Paladin summit, and the impending monster army. She drums her fingers. "Alright." She sighs. "I guess...I guess I should try to be half as foolish as you, huh?" She nods. "I'll introduce myself to that Paladin. I'll need his 'majesty' there as back up though. Ugh, may the world spare me..." She groans. "Anything else?""Umm," Tricia steps forward. "You said that you knew some things about me...I mean people like...I mean wasp witches who are like me...but have the-""Stop babbling girl and come over here." Granny says. "Let me look at you, and I'll get some old scrolls I have." She looks over at you. "Go get the kids. They're probably messing around in the pool again."
>>24853864>"Well...I suppose it was inevitable." She says. "At least it gets me out of that stupid agreement with your fool king." She shrugs. "Eh...maybe I'll just shift the terms. The dolt's been good to his word. No reason I shouldn't keep mine. I was planning on knocking him out and putting a magic suggestion in his head anyway.""A suggestion for what, exactly?"
well lets let Granny talk to Tricia in private for a bit. Go get the kids!
>>24853903It's Isen. Take a damn guess.
>>24853864>>24853864NOW we go tell them the leviathan joke, and get to see Granny's reaction when she hears it from them,
>>24853864"Of course. Tricia don't let her strip you unless I get to watch."
>>24853926...right. OK, smooth move on Granny's part. And we'll have to remember to jokingly blackmail her about it with Isen later.>>24853864"If she offers you any red moss, warn me first, would you?">>24853938Indeed.
>>24853950No, just no
>>24853864"Ah, an actual sit-down meal, what a treat!"Saunter over to the kids. As close to a saunter as we can get while slithering.
>>24853950"Of course. Tricia don't let her strip you unless I get to watch." You say. "And if she offers you any red moss, warn me first, would you?"They both flip you off as you go through the tunnels, down..and yes Granny's lair connects to a small underground lake...well...THIS part that's above water is small, but you have a guess that it's MUCH deeper and possibly connects to the ocean. The girls are playing and splashing each other in the shallow part. They smile at you and wave."Hey!" You say. "y= sec(X^2)+ln(cos(x)/cox(x+pi))"Ssah looks confused. But Ssai bursts out into uncontrollable hissing laughter.
>>24854067"HUE HUE HUE"
>>24854067Ssah must just be too young for complex adult jokes like that. Or she didn't hear.<Are you two nearly done splashing around up here? Granny says it's dinnertime, and I'm starved.>
>>24854067I just thought of something: at some point, we should teach Ssah and Ssai how to produce the black paralytic. It's a lot safer than the white venom they produce by default, it'll help avoid incidents like the one that happened to Tricia, and unlike the white venom it's safe to use in self-defense.Let's learn from our childhood mistakes.
>>24854129this is a pretty excellent idea.
>>24854129How about we wait till they're older and have Granny's permission/help.
>>24854129Since they were raised as lamias they might already know how to produce the black.
>>24854129>>24854157get granny's permission, as she is the one that would have to live with them dripping black everywhere.
>>24854129Sorry, this is me. Really wish the reply window would remember names (or lack thereof) per-window.>>24854165>>24854203Definitely agreed on the "older" thing, at least in Ssah's case. Ssai is probably old enough. But yes, we should have responsible non-Dawnchaser supervision around.>>24854189That's something we should find out as soon as possible. Especially if they can also produce the clear.
>>24854203"Granny! Granny look, we made sleeping potion! See?" Ssah holds up a glass bottle while Ssai is literally drooling Black..
>>24854229saying responsible non-daawnchaser is redundent
>>24854067Lamia cannonball time.
>>24854114<Are you two nearly done splashing around up here? Granny says it's dinnertime, and I'm starved.>They slide out into the water, and then up to you. Ssah curls up around your arm, and Ssai just hugs you.<Stay. Wanna stay with Auntie, and Granny, and nest and be warm. Want mama.> Ssah says. <Granny says you go and come back...no...auntie stay.>
>>24854282<"Someday, girls. I promise.">
>>24854282I wish I could sweetheart. But Auntie has to do important things.
>>24854282<I would love to stay all the time with you and be warm all the time, but Auntie has work that needs to be done.>
>>24854282...well, that turned heartbreaking quickly.<I want to stay, little one. More than anything I want to stay.>
>>24854282>>24854411(I'm torn; I almost want to try to explain to them why we can't stay yet, and Ssai is old enough to understand, but Ssah isn't.)
>>24854282<I wish I could stay, but I must go out there and stop bad things. Maybe, once I've stopped enough, I can rest in the warm for a nice long time.>
>>24854431Yeah, that works. I was trying to write something like that, but it kept coming across wrong. That's much better.
>>24854282<Auntie has important, but dangerous work to do. There are horrible things happening outside these tunnels, and not just to humans. Mer, nagas, harpies, and even our own kind are in terrible danger. Even though I wish I could stay here, I can't stand by and watch the kind of suffering my enemies are spreading.><I hope you'll understand one day.>
>>24854282I wonder how they feel about Auntie Tricia at this point?
>>24854358<I want to stay, little one. More than anything I want to stay, but Auntie has work that needs to be done. Maybe, once I've stopped enough, I can rest in the warm for a nice long time.><Promise?> Ssah says.
>>24854544"With all my heart."
>>24854544Have we already talked to Tricia about this? If (and *only* if) so, then:<Promise.>Paladin promises are not to be taken lightly, but Auntie promises are even more important.
>>24854544(after this I think we do deserve a year long break... you know before we tackle the phoenix empire.)
>>24854544<Promise.> pat the widdle Lamia-girl's head<Where should we look for Granny?>
>>24854586"Year"? I'm thinking more like "until Tricia's and Ssen's kids are grown up."
>>24854564well, we ARE planning on a break after all this. How long is up in the air, but at -least- a long time. I hope.
>>24854618We are indeed, but plans for settling down with little ones need Tricia's input. I'm sure she'd say yes, but we still have to ask.
<Promise, with all my heart.>You head back up. A table's been set. Tricia's looking through a book, Granny is putting slabs of rare meat on plates. Ohh, that smells good. The girls are twitching their tails in hunger."A benefit of having merchants closer." She says. "Alright, do you want to say a prayer?"
>>24854720"May the Light watch over this nest, all who dwell in it. Let this food bring us together, and give us the strength to travel and protect this nest, that we may return to build and cherish it."
I think I figured out what the hard part really is.The hard part is after defeating Citadel, when we want nothing more than to take a break for any amount of time, spend time with Tricia and Granny and the kids. Letting the others live their own lives for a little bit.And then we get home to hear news of the next big evil. That's the hard part.
>>24854720Grasp Tricia's hand on one side, and Ssai's or Ssah's on the other, before praying. Also noting that this is probably the first time Ssai and Ssah have heard a prayer.
>>24854816Sounds close to what I was thinking as well. I was thinking that the hard part wasn't the quest against Citadel. It's learning to live without a cause to fight against. To build a home, settle down, raise a family, and just live, without jumping at the next available windmill to tilt at.Tricia said the same thing; she wasn't sure what that would be like, or if we could do it.
>>24854816For some reason I imagine Lea settling down in a log cabin off in the woods somewhere and chopping wood for the fire with her bare hands.
>>24854720"Praise the light for helping to grow this food, may it be eaten in peace."Because really, I don't know grace, but I want some peace. Not the person though.
>>24854789You take Tricia and Ssai's hands. "May the Light watch over this nest, all who dwell in it. Let this food bring us together, and give us the strength to travel and protect this nest, that we may return to build and cherish it.""Amen." Tricia says."Who The Light?" Ssai asks.<That's a good question, with a long answer.> Granny comes to the rescue. <We'll have a talk about it later. For now, eat.>Ssai and Ssah both dive into their food with claws and fangs. Tricia takes a deep breath and puts a hand over her meat, and smiles contently as her swarm starts to coat it.You look down. Wow, good spices, just cooked enough to not be gross, but still nice and bloody...you really really missed this. You haven't had something this good since...since your last birthday really. Back when Father was still alive...has it really been less that a year? Feels like forever.
>>24854925eat and enjoy... but use a utensil. Best way to teach is through example.
>>24854925Compliment Granny on the meal; she deserves to know what it just reminded us of.Also, ask Tricia if she can eat both ways now, and which one she enjoys more.
>>24854816This is part of why I've been suggesting we start training and assembling a second team. That way we don't go the way of the first Lightbringers. That kid from First Stone Hall that attacked us? The one that was actually a decent fighter? I'm thinking penance quest for him.
>>24854925Spend a moment reflecting on how much life changed so quickly and the road travelled to get to today, shake it off, dig in.
>>24854954They will need to learn how to eat in front of humans, with Stonehall becoming so integrated now. Might as well show them a glimpse.
>>24854925Enjoy this longs it last. God knows it isn't going too. Also which is the older one of the two? I've completely forgotten.
>>24854986Ssai is the older one, Ssah is younger.
>>24854986Ssai is the older one I think
>>24855007>Ssai is the older one I thinkYes. Ssai is 12ish, Ssah is 5ish.
>>24854925"Mm! Granny, it's been a long, long time since I had something cooked properly. You've got to give me some tips.">>24854970I, too, am curious about tricia's odd biology.
>>24854986http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/24683869/#p24690095><First born, loved. Second born, loved.> The older one says.>"Ssai, and Ssah." Lea says. "Is that their names?"
>>24854975As long as we use our own stupid ideas to compile a book called 'THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER THINK OF DOING' A Dawnchaser Story
>>24855028Stupid mature Lamias messing with my perception of age! I kept thinking Ssai was like 15 and Ssah 8 but then Ssen would be 25 or something.
>>24855061I am entirely for the idea of making this book.>>24854975>train a second teamHow should we do that? Take them with us until they get the ropes?
>>24855061>>24855113You realize that the moment the book is released, at least thirty different adventurer's guilds are going to sprout up and use that book as a holy grail?
>>24855038"Mm! Granny, it's been a long, long time since I had something cooked properly. You've got to give me some tips.""Never." She says. "I need to give you some reason to visit." <Use your fork and knife like Auntie!> She tail pokes the girls. The girls drop their meat and go to using forks and knives."Do you like eating like that?" You ask Tricia."Apparently it's healthy and lets them...breed." She shivers. "I can't just grab bugs, but I can make more...like how a body makes new skin." She lets go and starts eating normally. "But nothing beats a tongue." She realizes what she just said and blushes. "Not a word in front of the kids!"
>>24855061We also need to write some proper books about the care of Lamias and other creatures. Julian's book almost certainly doesn't go into all the details that a sane, thinking, literate Lamia could. For instance: There and Plaque Again: the Care and Feeding of Fangs and Venom
>>24855134just give her the smoulder.
>>24855134Don't say a word, but stick our tongue out at her. All the way out.
>>24855134flick our tongue at her
>>24855134>"But nothing beats a tongue.">Lamia girlfriend
>>24855113That'll be our post-grad college after people graduated from our school"Dawnchaser Camp, training future Caligo Clarus, Those who last will be Dawnchasers"
>>24855134>"Never." She says. "I need to give you some reason to visit.""Fair enough. Then you can teach me when I've got somewhere for you to come visit."
>>24855162And then the girls follow you in sticking out their tongues. Granny too.
>>24855134Tongue flick a piece of meat on our fork"You've got that right""So, have the little ones seen much of the town? Or are they still learning their way around the underground?"
>>24855130this is the very best thing that could happen. And we could then spend our retirement going to them and swearing them out because the book is titled "THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER THINK OF DOING" and they did it anyway.
You wink at her and slowly flick out your tongue at her. You wince as Granny pokes you with her tail. "Not at the table!" She snaps. The dinner turns into a series of Leviathan jokes, normal jokes, teasing, tail pokes, and the occasional bug poking a forehead. It's over all too quickly, and the girls are tired. Granny picks them up and put them over her shoulder and slides them off to bed. A fresh nest made of clean felts, pillows, soft silks, and the occasional warm rock.Tricia sits down next to you and puts her head on your shoulder. "This was nice."
>>24855300Yes it was. Shall we head home?
>>24855300"It was. 'Someday' can't come soon enough.Do you suppose ours will look cute like they do? Or cute like you do?"
"It was. 'Someday' can't come soon enough."Do you suppose ours will look cute like they do? Or cute like you do?""I...I don't...I don't..." She chokes for a bit and wipes her eyes. Then she takes a deep breath. "I don't think we can just hope that Tragedy was bluffing, can we?" She sniffs. "Robin, Jessi, and Ryan are dead. They were our friends, and helped us, and...and now they're dead." She sniffs again and wipes her eyes. "And we just sit around like a happy family."
>>24855354"We do. We're going to take the fight to them, and we're going to make the world safe for the nest we want to build someday. But we're also going to sit around like a happy family, because there's no better way to honor their memory. And what's the point of fighting if not for that?"
>>24855354"We have to because who else will in there place?"
>>24855300"It WAS nice, wasn't it? Talking, having a meal, resting some. I think I'd like an extended vacation here, once we've settled things outside. It's good to have time away from the list of worries."
>>24855354If that post-script from the last thread was a vision of ours, we know that Robin, Jessi, and Ryan might not be totally gone yet (at least their bodies are going to be used)...not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.(Well, the Dramatae surely don't have anything good planned, but we might be able to turn things around.)
>>24855407I don't think we get visions of the Dramatae anymore, not since our last meeting with the Fifth. That was likely an OOC scene we didn't see.
>>24855407OOC i'm sure. Fifth can't contact us because he'd draw attention to our location or something.
>>24855354The girls need happy family time. And sometimes we do to. Their final wishes shall be respected, and there deaths will be answered for.And when we win, their souls will be freed from Citadel and go on to their final Journey.
>>24855407That scene was entirely OOC and for the benefit of the players so no.
>>24855354"They were good friends, and will be mourned. I... I was trying to think of a good euology for them, but it just seems hollow knowing they can't move on to the summerlands. I hope I have a good one by the time we crack citadel open."
>>24855385"We do. We're going to take the fight to them, and we're going to make the world safe for the nest we want to build someday. But we're also going to sit around like a happy family, because there's no better way to honor their memory. And what's the point of fighting if not for that?"Tricia holds you for a while. Then she lets go. "So, Granny knew a wasp witch who was like me, way way back when we were the Chimmeri." She holds up the book. "She wrote a lot." She smiles. "I skipped a couple of steps, but it's useful stuff." She pages through it. "Most of it is druid mantras and meditations, boring stuff to you that don't make sense. But..." She nods. "This will help." She narrows her eyes. "And NO, there AREN'T mantras to grow wings...and even if there were, I wouldn't. So don't ask!" Granny comes back out, shaking her head. "Those two just passed right out." She sighed. She turns to you. "So...where's this army? Citadel? The fabled Apple Grove of the Dramatae? You have any idea on how big it'll be?"
>>24855555one day triciaoooooooneeeee dayeven if it has to be a costume
>>24855555Last we knew it was at the Grove. But they might move it out to attack to make their Lightbringer soon. As for its size at the very least it will be the Fae Court following Mab and the remaining Mer. Plus whatever 'monsters' the Passions and Dramatae have captured and bred.
>>24855555"At the Grove. Jessi left us a note; apparently it's a trap. They warned us to get a Woodsman's Compass, and we stole one from Tragedy. We don't know how many they have, but judging by the number of Mer they took, probably hundreds or thousands of various now-corrupted creatures. We think they're working with the elves, too.And they've got Julian, too. He's wearing a mask now. I'm *not* losing him too."
>>24855555Smirk at Tricia. The wings matter isn't closed yet. Not yet. Then, to granny"They'll be at the grove, it's been corroborated by captive and informant. As for how many, well, I really have no idea. They captured or killed most of the merman army, so probably at least half of that. Probably have nearly all the nonhumans in citadel influence, given how many ghouls they could cough up for the stone hall attack way back when.I don't think my normal no-plan-at-all is going to work so well on this one."
>>24855555"A lot. They've been capturing and Citadelizing 'monsters' to bolster their ranks. It seems that they want to attempt to create another Lightbringer since we ruined their attempt with Adahn."
>>24855555Also tell her about how easily Adahn and the mages corrupted the Mer, and see if she has any ideas for how to undo that. The Lantern mirrors perhaps?
>>24855675"At the Grove. Jessi left us a note; apparently it's a trap. They warned us to get a Woodsman's Compass, and we stole one from Tragedy. We don't know how many they have, but judging by the number of Mer they took, probably hundreds or thousands of various now-corrupted creatures. We think they're working with the elves, too."Mab's a little loopy, all of them are, but they're not so nuts as to think they can just walk side by side with minotaurs and mer." Granny says."They corrupt them so easily too." You say. "Adahn could do it, and they had these nets that did it as well."Granny nods. "I think it's an even stronger form of Citadel brainwashing. You know, how if Citadel doesn't want to slowly rot your mind, it does it in one go and you get all loopy? Same thing, which means it might be breakable...if we can find out the right way to break it.""And they've got my Uncle Julian, too. He's wearing a mask now. I'm *not* losing him too." You sigh. "I don't think my normal no-plan-at-all is going to work so well on this one."Granny pauses to think for a while. Then she nods and goes to her library. "Remember how I said you were to never ask me what happened to my niece?" She says. "You can ask now."
Alright, if you think its important. Can you tell me about your niece?
>>24855949Was it a mask, or did they force her white?
>>24855949>Granny pauses to think for a while. Then she nods and goes to her library. "Remember how I said you were to never ask me what happened to my niece?" She says. "You can ask now."Just look at Granny for a moment, and give her an understanding hug first. She's going to need it. Then ask.
>>24855949"Oh granny, I'm sorry for stirring old memories. Could you tell me of her, while the memories are still stirring about?"
>>24856068You get up and hug Granny. Granny blinks in surprise and then hugs you back."Can you tell me about your niece?" You say. "Did they put a mask on her or force her white?"She shakes her head. "She went white on her own." She sighs. "Gave in to the urges to kill, to feed, to not think." She shakes her head. "I...I should have seen it coming. How she reacted to her mother's death." She sighs. "I screwed up. By the time I noticed, it was too late." She sighed. "The Chimmeri and I went to deal with her. It was...not a pleasant day. She had already gathered a following of corrupt lizard kin, and there was a lot of blood on all sides. We got to her, and we fought. She was worse than you were Little Worm...blades, strength, spells, and savagery." She sighs. "At the end...I got her, right through the chest. But at the same time, the leader slammed his mace into the ground to cause that light flare." She shook her head. "I put my blade in a monster...I pulled it out of my niece." She sniffs. "It didn't fix what was inside her though... she still hated the world, hated me. Her mother was dead and all she cared about was her own pain. But she died free." She opens the book. "I don't know if you know this spell..." She flips it to a picture of a mace in a Chimmeri's hand. "But it's a spell of the Caligo Clarus, and it's my only advice to helping the captured."You stare, not at the picture, but at the caption. 'Chimmeri Captain Nicholai, holding shield and Beacon.'
>>24856319"Beacon has driven off Citadel's influence before, and even that of the Dragon who Was of Darkness. But other than Beacon's Flare, I've never been able to fully control it. What is this spell, and how can I learn to use it?"
>>24856319"I didn't know Beacon was so old. I've used it like that before, but it's not really practical to Enlighten a whole army."
>>24856319What and who are chimmeri again? All I can think of is Chimmer, AKA pre-fall Dunmer.
>>24856319Also, I feel better about reforging Beacon now, since it's not the first time. Mace, sword, spear; Beacon has been through a lot over the centuries.
>>24856319I wonder if he was my father's ancestor. Because this is called Beacon as well.
>>24856380Cimmerii (that's how it was written in previous threads) is another name for the Caligo Clarus.
>>24856380>What and who are chimmeri again? They were the Caligo Clarus Order before it was called Caligo Clarus.
>>24856380Old name for Caligo Clarus.
>>24856319Breathe in. Don't cry. Can't wake the kids."Thank you Granny, this will help..I'm..I'm sorry to bring up any bad memories."A pause. "Hmm, Beacon. I might need to have a word with Ambrose about this Captain Nicholai."
>>24856407>CimmeriiRight, sorry. Shows me trying to do things from pure memory.>>24856357"I didn't know Beacon was so old. I've used it like that before and even that of the Dragon who Was of Darkness. But other than Beacon's Flare, I've never been able to fully control it. What is this spell, and how can I learn to use it?"Granny hands you the book. "Here. Something for the old man playing Archivist." She sniffs and wipes her eyes. You put a hand on her shoulder."Thank you Granny, this will help..I'm..I'm sorry to bring up any bad memories."She nods. "I'm tired...I'll go join the girls in the nest." She slithers away.Tricia is next to you. "Why does life have to be full of such brief nice moments that come, go and get forgotten; but the parts that suck just linger on and on and on?"
>>24856517"Speak for yourself human, my leviathan mind forgets both equally."
>>24856517"Because then it'd be that much harder to treasure the nice times."
>>24856517"All the more reason to treasure the nice moments and never forget them."Let's take the book to Ambrose, check in on the Pure Metalworking if we have time, and then get some rest in the lighthouse. In the morning, we can start planning our trip onwards.
>>24856517"Because it hurts to get a scar."
>>24856596let me rewrite that:"Because only wounds leave scars"
>>24856517>Right, sorry. Shows me trying to do things from pure memory. You're not fooling us for a minute. You're one of those DMs with a binder overflowing with notes.
>>24856517>"I didn't know Beacon was so old. I've used it like that before and even that of the Dragon who Was of Darkness.Looks like a bit of that sentence wandered off. Must have been Citadel.
>>24856625"Because only wounds leave scars" You sigh. "All the more reason to treasure the nice moments and never forget them." You motion for Tricia to follow you. "Come on. Let's go back home."When you get back to the Lighthouse, it's dark outside, but fully lit within. You open the door, and you and Tricia are treated with a loud cheer of welcome. Also the smell of alcohol. Wonderful, everyone's drinking, and, seeing as Lea's already got her bandages off, the responsible one of the group is already excessively drunk. To add fuel to the fire, Isen and Tara are here as well. You see a set of six round mirrors laid against the wall. They're smaller than you though. You expected full shield size. These are closer to bucklers...maybe a bit bigger. (They're each about as big as a car tire)Isen walks up to the two of you and opens his arms wide. "My Lady Paladin, and her beloved...your noble ruler requests a hug and a smooch...taxes you know!"Tara laughs. "Wait until I tell you what you owe ME in refund!" She cries out, laughing."Wait your turn woman! Beaur...beau...paper...fuck..forgot the joke...come on...but no black stuff this time, kay? That was fun once."
>>24856748A car tire is still pretty damn big.
>>24856748Black poison time
>>24856748Fiiine. On the cheek.
>>24856748Give him a kiss on the cheek. And a full blown snake-hug. wrap him head to foot.
>>24856748Drip out a little bit of clear, and make sure it hisses on the floor. "Whatever you say, Isen."But don't let him actually take us up on it. Just enough to make him back off.Is there any Lantern metal left? Enough to augment Clang a bit, perhaps?
>>24856748Snake hug, cheek kiss."Sorry Tricia, you know what they say, death and taxes"
>>24856799Well if its smaller then our shield we could put it on the face of it.
>>24856748"Taxes, huh? You know what else is certain, besides taxes, if you try that one again?"
>>24856748"You're incorrigible O Isen the Audacious."
>>24856748Actually, better idea: "Tricia, I think it's your turn. Be creative."I don't think Isen knows about Tricia's new abilities yet. Let her have some fun.
>>24856849I think Isen would still go for it.
>>24856849that is a suitable alternate plan.Whichever.
>>24856849She's still not really comfortable with being made of bugs. Putting her on the spot like that would be a mistake.
"You're incorrigible O Isen the Audacious." You sigh and roll your eyes. "Tricia, you know what they say about taxes.""That they're closely associated with death?" Tricia says smirking."Come on." You say."Fine."The pair of you both kiss Isen on opposite cheeks. Then you give him a very VERY tight hug with your tail. "Try that again, and you'll get the OTHER option."He nods. "Got it. But worth it." He chokes out.You uncoil and let the guy go."What happened to Mage?" Tricia asks. Your brother is already passed out, he also has a black eye and a large red welt across his face. He also has no eyebrows and lost a little of the front of his hair...you can see burnt ends."My sister...reacted poorly." Gregory said. "Also, Mage wasn't exactly the best at explaining his feelings in a way that was...""Compassionate?" Peri suggests."Comprehensible." Gregory replies. "To be fair, Sophie aimed to miss.""Guhhh..." Mage rouses himself. "Never date a girl who can shoot fire from her fingertips...and never give her a magic scepter to help her with that." He puts his head back down on the table.
>>24856944Rookie mistake mage. Rookie mistake.
>>24856944"Please tell me you had that conversation *before* you started drinking."
>>24856944Pat the back of his head."Look at the bright side, you'll know to duck next time."
>>24856944"Maybe try one made of bugs next time, they seem to work out great"Elbow him roughly in the ribs.
Rolled 78>>24857072>Elbow him roughly in the ribs.Do you WANT him to yak all over us?
>>24857099Well, maybe it's not THAT late in the night?
>>24856990"Please tell me you had that conversation *before* you started drinking.""Maybe he should have." Lea says, then breaks into a fit of giggles."Look at the bright side, you'll know to duck next time." You say.Mage just groans and reaches for a bottle."Are we celebrating the shields? Or is this just 'we're alive and we might not be tomorrow' drinking?" Tricia asks.Isen shakes his head. "Nope!" He laughs. "Guest of honor came in from Bronze Peak when you were talking with the old woman. She's downstairs, getting cleaned up with help from that very FINE mer gal.""Here she is!" Dana says coming up.Princess Mumei is done up in a recut version of one of her dresses. This one is less 'pretty mass of silks' and more 'can actually walk around' but still retains that Phoenix Empire class. Her hair has been cut by Ava. Only she could actually make it look like she has a braid of feathers around her head. Finally...she's walking...for real. You can see surgical scars on her feet and legs, and she's currently strapped into something that's obviously Barney's creation. You also see caked on traces of some sort of salve that's been coated to her legs, probably some form of that Leviathan potion that was tweaked around to be less traumatic to humans.Lea picks up her lute and plucks out a simple little tune. Amazing that she can still play so well while drunk. It's just a simple dance hall tune that people play while they're waiting for the next real song to being. And Princess Mumei dances. It's hardly graceful, or any kind of dance you think has been seen on either continent...and it's just a couple of steps before she has to lean against the wall to stable herself...but she dance. She looks at you, and she's got tears dripping from her face."I am...I don't know anymore..." She sniffs. "Thank you."
dance with the princess?"I'm glad I could help."
>>24857254"The best reward is to see you fly, as awkward as your first steps might be."
>>24857254>And Princess Mumei dances.>this is what it feels like to be a paladin
>>24857254we need artfags. So many images.Mumei dancing. The little lamia's win Granny. Isen paralyzed and grinning. Dana anything.
>>24857254Biggest smile possible."Don't thank me yet- We've much further to go before you can soar. Walking is just the beginning."
>>24857254Huge hug for Mumei. And not the almost-bone-crushing kind we gave Isen. "Thank you, too. It's wonderful to see you dancing; that's a feeling I'm going to cherish, and I was really needing one of those. And you're looking good already! Halfway there, now we just need to get you flying."
Its funny I kindof imagine the princess to look like the dragon princess from Maoyuu regardless of what she actually looks like (the manga not the anime pic related)
>>24857407> not imagining mumei as the jew shopkeeper from EO3
>>24857429EO3? no idea what that is.
>>24857469Etrian Odyssey, now go play it.
>>24857254"I didn't expect you to be back so quickly! How is everything? did bronze peak burn down?"
You hug Mumei."Thank you too. It's wonderful to see you dancing; that's a feeling I'm going to cherish, and I was really needing one of those. We've much further to go before you can soar however. That'll be the best reward. Walking is just the beginning."She nods."I didn't expect you to be back so quickly! How is everything? Did Bronze Peak burn down?""Bronze PEak is fine. The dwarf, Rachel has the city well in hand along with that nervous man with the mantle." She nods. "The harpies are doing well. They mostly keep to the mountain, and the markets. People gawk, but there's so few of them that no one feels too threatened. They're at a 'live and let live' mentality...for now." She shrugs. "The economy's stabled...mostly...and trade will be flowing nicely." She nods. "I'll need to return there soon, yourself as well most likely, but it seems to be on its feet again."She looks around. "I only came by to show you this." She gestures to her feet. "I am not one for parties like this...but I have an important gift for you."Mumei picks up a bottle from the table. It's a fancy porcelain bottle with an ornate design painted on it. She hands it to you. "This is one of the few things I brought with me that's from the Empire." She smiles. "My brother gave it to me. He said it would help me. That when I was filled with despair of being trapped in a foreign land, among strangers, I could take a glass of this...and remember home." She shakes her head. "It's filled with poppy milk, and the dew of haze, and many other things. It's known as Bride's Milk.
>>24857673"My mother drank this quite a lot, certainly every night my father came to her." She looks at Isen, who smiles at her, mostly drunk, and not understanding, as he sits next to Tara. The princess laughs softly. "The women in the court swear by this, and most spend their lives in happy dreams." She hands you the bottle. "I don't need this." She sighs. "Now...I am walking home. I wish to see the stars from my part of the beach and stand in the surf.""Mph..." Isen gets up. "Lemme escort...or get red occuli...""I'm not that drunk." Mage groans as he gets up. He does look more singed than tanked. "I'll see the princess home." "You sure?" Tricia says. Mage nods. "I had enough drama today, and I could use some cold air."The princess hugs you again. "Thank you."
>>24857673>brides milkSsen: Be confused about what that means and the cultural implications thereof.
>>24857680"You're very welcome Mumei, and thank you too for the present. I'm sure it'll come in handy in one of my impossible activities or another. Have a very good -walk- home."Walking! Hah! That was fast!
>>24857680... I am now racking my brain for a devious use for this substance in dealing with the Dramatae.
>>24857738I'm trying to come up with a use too. Have we invented anasthesia yet? It's not often Ssen is just baffled with what to do with an object. Maybe she should try some, it sounded temporary, and we ARE partying.
>>24857738Coil and force feed?
>>24857861I'd avoid using it for recreational purposes, but giving it to someone who's been badly wounded might be a good use.
>>24857922Might be usable with an arrow or claws through an injury?
>>24857938I doubt that would work
>>24857923>>24857938we have enough enemy-innjectables. This is one of the few things we have that could help an ally.Though, we SHOULD figure out exactly what it does.
Comedy holds lots of parties. If we could get Lea or Tricia a fake Blank or Passion mask, use the compass to get all of this there and have them crash it... we could spike all their drinks. Having them all high as a kite while we deal with the army would be definately a plus.
>>24857970that's a pretty good idea.Let's enjoy the tail-end of this party, then wake up BRIGHT AND EARLY as the only one not-hung-over (other than tricia). We can then choose to wake up our friends or go see avery as per preference. Or cook them all breakfast.
>>24857731"You're very welcome Mumei, and thank you too for the present. I'm sure it'll come in handy in one of my impossible activities or another. Have a very good -walk- home."The princess bows to everyone else and then turns to the door.Mage, not weaving at all, opens the door and follows the Princess. He'll be fin, there's loyal red occuli out at this point in the evening anyway. Also, no one messes with a magic user with a whopping big staff. Peri/Mari then push a mug into your hand. "Okay, NOW is the 'We might be dead tomorrow' drinking!" She smiles. "Here's to...here's to our friends." She says. It's obvious who she's not naming. "And here's to our enemies as well...may this be a pleasant night for them...cause it's gonna be the last one they're ever gonna get."
>>24858005Here Here. To our friends!
>>24858005"Here here!"Alternatively, if we are allowed to add onto the toast:"To peaceful nights and those who couldn't join us"Make sure it's not a damndable blue glass scorpion, then down it. Everyone else is so far ahead of us, we need to at least drink a little. Also considering pouring out one for all the lost homies, depending on if that's a custom in the citadel.
Where are we gonna find black roses?
>>24858107why do we need black roses?
>>24858147Wishes of the fallen
>>24858160Oh, was that the thing we had to plant for the ghost wish?I mix those up.
We have to visit a grave, publish a book and plant some roses under a tree in Coral Gate.
>>24858174white oak!doooon'r forget
>>24858174>>24858194we may have to plant a white oak, then, too.
>>24858174Eventually. Killing Holting, Comedy, and Peace comes first.
>>24858243Holting is deader than disco.
>>24858075"Here here!" You say. "To peaceful nights and those who couldn't join us"You pause, before you drink. "This isn't a Blue Glass Scorpion. Is it?"Lea shakes her head. "Nope. Local brewery, they call it Serpent's Nectar!" She laughs. "We think we should get royalties!""Hey, there's plenty of lizard kin, and snakes aren't uncommon." Mari says."Either way. It's an excellent mead."You try it. Mmm. They aren't kidding. A good mead with hints of blackberry.
>>24858243>>24858263holting is being kept alive for us to kill, I think, by peace, in some complex gambit.Though we should totally be on the lookout for black roses and white oaks. and we have to PICK UP the manifesto as soon as possible so it isn't cleared out.
>>24858274And its poisoned. Or Mumei get kidnapped, or the Dramatae cast meteor on Stone Hall.I miss anything?
>>24858274"Mmm. A bit fruity even. I'm happy with it, as long as they don't lift my name wholesale. Hah, I might wind up doing endorsements one of these days."Consider, briefeley, the paladin serpent covered in mead logos.
>>24858274drink for tomorrow is another busy day.
>>24858348all of the above, along with the fact that it was made with REAL serpent!
>>24858392Snake wine is a real thing in Asia.
>>24858412Fried Tiger penis is a real thing in Asia. What your point?
>>24858382"Mmm. A bit fruity even. I'm happy with it, as long as they don't lift my name wholesale. Hah, I might wind up doing endorsements one of these days."Isen shrugs. "If you want to do that instead of your tithe, I'm game."That is met with a host of peanuts being hurled at Isen. You drink a little, not too much, and the night passes with more jokes. Lea's music. Isen being Isen. Eventually the great leader is dragged home by his beloved 'Royal Protector.' And all the other Dawnchasers, including Dana, stagger to their beds. You help Tricia into yours and she wriggles up next to you as you curl up around her."This was a good time." Tricia says. She kisses you. "Family, friends...and tomorrow we're gonna go save the world. Then we'll do it all over again. Good night Ssen. I love you." She closes her eyes.
>>24858477love you too tricia.sleep.
>>24858477(hissy?)Kiss on forehead, doze off to sleep.Tomorrow, we tell avery about ALL of this nonsense. And introduce him to granny.
beach party tomorrow morning after breakfast. have a BBQ lunch. Then its off to ... White Tree for our poor Lightmare.
>>24858503oh yes. we can invite both of them.
>>24858477And then we wake up to the city being on fire. Or bombed, or besieged, or blown up.
>>24858477Good night. Don't let the bed bugs bite.
>>24858477>"Mmm. A bit fruity even. I'm happy with it, as long as they don't lift my name wholesale. Hah, I might wind up doing endorsements one of these days.">I am Paladin Ssen and this is my favorite store in the Citadel.
>>24858499"Love you too, Tricia." You say as you kiss her forehead, and go to sleep. You dream of the Array...it's spinning wildly out of control, parts of it crashing into each other, bits flying off...it's breaking down...all it needs is one more push. You dream of...something...it's huge. Shadows and sparks. Stained glass windows for eyes, a maw made of portcullis, and you can see furnaces within its throat. Spire spines, and claws made of stone streets. There are things, things that you could never call human, despite their shape, crawling over it...worshipping it...loving it.You hear it roar...it is a bellow of hate...and it is meant for you.
>>24858593Well it seems its even worse than i though Citadel sees us.Light help us all.
>>24858593" Oh Citadel. A monster indeed, but can you be saved? Should I even try?"
>>24858593Smile and wave. Poor thing had the misfortune on being on the opposite side of us. We generally are open to surrenders.
>>24858593"Light help you, citadel. Light help all of us."
>>24858593"Poor creature, stuffed to bursting like a fat pig. You're father was much more intimidating. I wonder if you have rational thought beyond base instinct?"
And that'll be it for today. Hope you enjoyed your warm and fuzzy feelings...because the moment you leave Stone Hall...things are going to be unpleasant.Be ready, Serpent. You are about to enter a sacred garden. When in all existence has THAT ever ended well?Friday May 17th 2-5pm PST
>>24858285Interesting that you say that as he's the only one of the Dramatae who can use the future sight machine at the moment. And at the moment I doubt Peace will let him use it so we may have a bigger advantage that we thought.
I don't think Citadel's capable of being any more than it is now. It was never meant to live this long and it certainly wasn't designed to run the world. Its an animal running on base instinct. I kind of feel sorry for it.
>>24858669Aww man but i was having fun and waiting for the beach party.
>>24858669Night Echo, the Dawww factor was great, and we really needed it after Robin and crew got murdered.also, delaying tactic! introduce Granny to Avery!
>>24858669doesn't the serpant entering the garden mean the people get kicked out of Paradise?
>>24858669>serpent entering a sacred gardenOh man, this is going to go so terribly. See you on friday, echo.Everything is just going to go so awful once we get back out there. This may very well be the hard part.
>>24858713nope. the hard part is dealing with our actions AFTER we beat the big bad... and everyone realizes the serpant really did destroy paradise. Even if it was evil.
>>24858718Ugh, that's gonna be unfun. Though to be fair, all we technically did was prevent blood sacrifice and save cities. If that's all it takes to destroy civilization, why, I don't know why hired me as a paladin in the first place. Stopping blood sacrifice and saving cities is right up there with rescuing maidens in paladin duties.
>>24858718It'll be Stone Hall on a continent-wide scale. I wish we could continue on the way we've been going; pulling cities out one at a time and fixing them up as best we can.
>>24858704>doesn't the serpant entering the garden mean the people get kicked out of Paradise? What do you mean? You already kicked two people out of their paradise.
>>24858669Echo thank you for an adorable thread. Jesus shit the image of happy Lamia family is just too cute for words.
>>24858669>Serpent>Servant of a higher power>Entering a sacred garden>Bringing knowledge of Good and Evil>Lucifer was called "Lightbringer">Echo>Echo plz
>>24858833yes, we are THE LITERAL DEVIL. Isn't that great?
>>24858851>>24858833oh god the more I think about it the more it's been facing us RIGHT IN THE FACE THIS WHOLE TIME.Ssen starts christianity?
>>24858876No. The truth is that Satan has been the greatest paladin the world has ever seen.
>>24858876I thought I was getting a little too cute making the pair named Ava and Adahn, actually. Also, making Peace a beautiful messenger with a human form, wings, and a white flaming sword...And then making it an apple grove...Well at that point I knew I had hit the limit between entertainingly symbolic and 'too cute for your own good.' So, no more intentional stuff like that from me.
>>24858954I didn't even notice until now. And now I'm kicking myself for not.
dear god how did we miss that? Adahn and Ava? Adam and Eve? I just figured Peace was angel allegory and didn't think anything beyond that.Friggin hell even the Dragon of Shadows should have been a clue.
>>24858954We even enlightened Ava before Adahn. We ARE the Devil. And we're trying to save the world.Rage, what have you done.
>>24858977>>24858981Fuck. Shit. All I wanted to do was save some villages. Now I'm the devil.
>>24858981The best thing ever.
>>24859003>best thing ever>massive population loss and tossed out of paradise foreveroh noooooo
>>24859003Most definitely the best thing.Remember y'all, the parallel is humorous, but we know the truth about which of the two sides in this conflict is the ethical one.
>>24859046sometimes the truth doesn't matter, especially to people out in the cold, hungry and scared for the first time in their lives.
>>24859046yes, but we also know this is going to start some MAJOR SHIT. Even majorer than we thought.
>>24858954we didn't even notice until you mentioned the serpent entering the garden, how did we miss this stuff...>>24859033it was a false paradise.>>24859065cant get much more major than most likely cratering a city that probably has a higher population then the rest of the continent combined.
>>24859058That's when the truth is most important. Because then it makes the difference between diverting blame for their suffering or forcing them to turn to themselves to fix their own problems.>>24859065I'm pretty sure we always knew we were out to kill a God in a catastrophic fashion.
>>24859033This one sums it up well.>>24859046And that i why i said that. In our quest we shall tear the world asunder and DESTROY PARADISE. And this time it will be done right. No mistakes, no escapes, NO SURVIVORS!
If we're going to prevent immediate loss of life from killing or liberating Citadel... we have to get those people out of that city. How... I have no idea.
Well, I think I'm going to give myself the huge-idiot award for not noticing we were doing this earlier. All I want to do is go back to hunting and live contentedly. But we can't do that because citadel is antithetical to us being sentient. Fuck.
>>24859116WE wont. THEY will. That all that we have for a plan at this point. When their Paradise falls, so many shall fall with it it isnt even funny.
>>24859131Why do you think we took up this quest in the first place? Our health?
Honestly a lot of the stuff did come naturally, that now just fits way way too well. These were ALL accidental...but you can kind of fit them with the theme.I called Citadel the City of Heaven when you first saw it.Lea's all wrapped up and covered in sores like a leper...and she's never going to get better and refuses a 'cure' like Dragon Blood.Isen refuses to worship Citadel and instead worships himself and goes to found his own kingdom.Princess Mumei is lame, and through ingenuity and hard work, walks again.Tricia was born with a status/mark saying that she would become evil. Stays good.Donovan is a devoted man trying to free his people...and a total prick.Odette is a female knight who hears guidance from above...that sends her to kill. You go below the earth to raise an army. You move a bank INTO Bronze Peak. And probably a bunch more of the stuff can be made to fit in that mold if you want it too...but I swear I'm not doing this intentionally. The names of the lightbringers, the apple grove, and Peace's true appearance were the only direct things I consciously designed to be like that. The rest is a happy accident...and me looking for parallels and examples now.I promise no more obvious wink-winks.
>>24859107>No mistakes,Damn right>no escapes,Umm...>NO SURVIVORS!Okay slow your roll, you giddy nut.
>>24859149No keep doing it im enjoying this IMMENSELY. It pleases my body.
>>24859150We will not have another Peace. We will NOT have another age of False Gods, False Gold and False life. Freedom is awaiting us. This time we shall win. And all will be well.
>>24859164It's too late to keep going. We're aware of it now.
damnit, britfag here, only just woke up to find this has started and ended overnight. Can't join in next time either because I'll be running dnd....As a side-note; damnit i wanted Ssen to sneak in to see the lamia girls in bed, and maybe tell a bedtime story if they're still up
>>24859149damnit echo. And now we are the devils.
I got most of them, but am missing what moving the bank into bronze peak references, mind pointing me in the right direction?I find it absolutely hilarious how many parallels we have though.
>>24859184I was aware of several parallels at the naming of Ava and Adahn. I thought it was unintentional and said nothing about it. Now i find its ENTIRELY on purpose. This pleases my body in MANY ways. And i approve of its continuation.
>>24859196I'll bet a third of the paladins will fight with us if we attack.
>>24859200Corrupting the temple of Jerusalem, basically the exact opposite of what Jesus did.
>>24859200WHy do you think it pleases my body? IT IS GLORIOUS!
Ok if Ssen is Satan (they even sound alike) and Tricia is Beelzebub (Lord of the Flies) who are the devils our other team members represent?
>remember the first thread>yet another short-lived quest based on /tg/ daughter obsession>this will probably die like sandwich the drow quest did
