Housed in Ravenclaw and from a noble Pureblood family Millicent has a good understanding of the wizarding world, yet struggles with terms such as ‘mudblood’ and seeing house elfs as anything more than servants.

Rolled 48>>24387489Thank you from me, my sister and everyone who will start reading the quest in the future.
Rolled 95Millicent spent the rest of the year enjoying the company of her friends and working hard in lessons. Dreams for the first years to join the Quidditch team would have to wait for the second year at the very least. By working hard and looking after her sister, Millie’s reputation as someone to avoid dissipated to the point that most students barely remember the incident. It wasn’t easy for Millicent’s mother and father to accept the news of what Maud had done and what subsequently happened to her. However no blame was left on her, and her sister, after examination, was diagnosed with magic induced amnesia. Maud’s integration into her old life has been a difficult one for her, as she has no time for her old friends who are cruel and spiteful. Instead she spends time hanging around, almost to the point of annoyance, with Millicent and her friends during breaks. Her grades however have improved noticeably, which has been put down to her spending less time chasing after boys and concentrating on her work. (more coming)
>>24387513Depending on your definition of 'fix', I think the Maud thing might have to be moved to long-term.
>>24387489thanks dumbles :3 It's gonna make re-reading a heck of a lot easier
Rolled 56>>24387546I'll let this shit sink in, let you discuss it, then move on.
>>24387546We need to remind the students of the incident
>>24387546>chasing after boysHey guys, when/if Maud has a new boyfriend, I think it's important that we be supportive and generally stick our noses out of it....Especially considering what happened last time.
>>24387468wow that picture has some serious feels going on.>>24387529no problem, make sure your sister knows what HPQ and S.O.B means because i added a little something.>>24387565its cool my nigga
>>24387426>Millicent Fauxly is AM intelligentIs that intentional?
>>24387593No we don't; Millie hates unnecessary attention.
>>24387584but, what does the wizard community think of what we've done? Im really hesitant to believe we wouldn't be in the paper and the toast of every slytherin alumni for at least a little while. Not to mention the ghost bodies being pioneered by us.
>>24387546>Maud’s integration into her old life has been a difficult one for her, as she has no time for her old friends who are cruel and spiteful. Instead she spends time hanging around, almost to the point of annoyance, with Millicent and her friends during breaks. Her grades however have improved noticeably, which has been put down to her spending less time chasing after boys and concentrating on her work.Fuck yeah! No more hanging out in the wrong crowd and such! But more importantly!> It wasn’t easy for Millicent’s mother and father to accept the news of what Maud had done and what subsequently happened to her. However no blame was left on her, and her sister, after examination, was diagnosed with magic induced amnesia.Sounds like our parents still care about us! FUCK YEAH!
>>24387546>almost to the point of annoyanceAw really? But yeah she should make friends her own age, though I figure she might have to look outside Slytherin.
>>24387546>almost to the point of annoyance, with Millicent and her friends during breaksBut only almost.
>>24387610>>>24387468>wow that picture has some serious feels going on.As it should.
>>24387659It's probably more annoying for Joel, Nigel, and Robert. I assume Millie's more okay with it and maybe Olivia too.

Rolled 48We begin the second year in a state of Deja Vu, with just two weeks before the end of summer break and the start of the new school term at Hogwarts, you and your family have booked two rooms in the Leaky Cauldron after a visit to Diagon Alley. You sit with your sister in a room your share together. You’ve just tried on your new school clothes in front of the mirror, seeing they fit your taller build nicely.“You should buy Terra a new basket for your dorm” says Maud“Tara” you say, correcting her, finding that Maud can remember the most complicated spells, being in her fifth year and top of the class, yet is unable to remember personal details so easily. You sit and give her a hug as she apologises for being so forgetful. “Millicent!” your mother calls from down the hallway. You stand and leave the room, closing the door behind you, when a sudden sense of Deja Vu hits you. Damn. You head downstairs where Mum and Dad wait for at a table, a cup of butterbeer set on the table. You’re waiting for Olivia and her parents to pick you up to stay round theirs for the rest of the holidays, something which wasn’t easy talking your parents into. “How are you feeling, Millicent?” asks your mother who peers over her book titled ‘A Brief History of Time’. >Okay>Has Olivia arrived yet? How about Nigel and Joel?>I wanted to talk to you about what happened last year, if that’s alright with you, I know I’ve asked about it a lot but I just want to make sure I understand everything that went down.
>>24387699Who cares about the negroes which abandoned us so willingly.
>>24387654and she hasn't been to school to make those friends.
>>24387722"Okay, considering the circumstances. I guess."
>>24387713we need to get her reassigned to ravenclaw
>>24387706Or heartbreak. An amnesiac is pretty easy to take advantage of.
>>24387722>your mother who peers over her book titled ‘A Brief History of Time’.Nice
>>24387722>I wanted to talk to you about what happened last year, if that’s alright with you, I know I’ve asked about it a lot but I just want to make sure I understand everything that went down.At least, from their side of things. Like, did they really not know we were in hospital after the incident with Bergle in the Headmaster's Office?
>>24387722"I'm doing alright. What's that book about?"Unless the title is coincidental, that is one of the last things I'd expect to see in the hands of a mature Slytherin aristocrat like our mother.
>>24387722>>I wanted to talk to you about what happened last year, if that’s alright with you, I know I’ve asked about it a lot but I just want to make sure I understand everything that went down.
>>24387722>I wanted to talk to you about what happened last year, if that’s alright with you, I know I’ve asked about it a lot but I just want to make sure I understand everything that went down.Because when else will we get a chance to figure this out without breaking the fourth wall?

>>24387722>I wanted to talk to you about what happened last year, if that’s alright with you, I know I’ve asked about it a lot but I just want to make sure I understand everything that went down.I'm sorry again for what happened with Charles, I can't imagine how hard his family came down on you for something you had nothing to do with.
>>24387722did we already go shopping?
>>24387546>Millie’s reputation as someone to avoid dissipated to the point that most students barely remember the incident.Man, we really need to rebuild our street cred as someone to not anger.>>24387647>the toast of every slytherin alumniFor recovering the Trident of Salazar Slytherin? Sure, until it comes out just what kind of dick-ass memory-raping cunt he was comes out.
> Millie’s reputation as someone to avoid dissipated to the point that most students barely remember the incidentfor arguments sake, lets say someone in your school somehow destroyed a section of it(lets say [spoilers]WATER[/spoilers] damage, was the only witness to a teacher dying, found a long lost trophy from when the school was founded while it was rumored their family disowned them, your teachers tells you VERY SPECIFICALLY not to talk to them, and suddenly, inexplicably, her sister can't remember anything.Like, there's no way Millie isn't going to stop being a subject of conversationuntil something even MORE sensational comes along, she's been the topic of conversation all year.
>>24387868Sounds like we kind of have. We have new clothes and all.
>>24387879You have a point there.

>>24387722Who did receive how many points for the whole trident thing?
>>24387879Don't forget the public Petrificus Totalis we cast on Robert when he was goaded by his former friends, and when we wordlessly cast Crucio on Charles and made him scream in agony and squirm like the animal that he is.How tempting it must be, to feel that rush of power again.
>>24387872they are all dick-ass cunts who would be in to memory raping if they had the skills.
>>24387879I think, specifically, it's the Crucio thing they've forgotten, no doubt we still have a reputation just not as someone who will curse you for looking at them wrong.
>>24387921huffle puff won by default its the perk of being in their house.
>>24387933Not all Slytherins are bad. Robert seems to be alright, and it's not like /tg/ hasn't created a Slytherin that wasn't a power-hungry cunt.
>>24387964Did they ever win?
>>24387921I'm pretty sure casting Crucio would have been twenty thousand points from Ravenclaw, so... maybe not enough?Who knows how much "Stopping the deranged professor who killed the last headmaster", "finding a kidnapped student (with assistance) and changing him back to human from cat form", "Making a way for ghosts to interact and feel the material world (though they get tired of it after a less than a day)", as well as "Finding the lost artifact of a Hogwarts founder (for at least the second time)" is worth.
>>24387992>robert seems to be alrightjust wait>>24388008im sure they win all the time. they are kissasses you get points for kissing ass.
OP, i don't want to and am not trying to derail this thread, and i don't wish to cause trouble, but you're handwaving an awful lot of important things just to get to the second year faster :/
>>24388011Don't forget curing Professor Trib.
Rolled 14You ask your mother about the events which took place at Hogwarts last year, a time that you remember both fondly and with a heavy heart. “Oh, Millicent” your mother says in a drawling condescending voice as she flicks through another page of her book. “You know that we had no idea you were in the hospital wing, your sister made sure of that. She isn’t the real one to blame in all this is she? It’s that rotten house elf of ours”In actual fact you’ve actually gotten on rather well with your house elf since returning from Hogwarts. You even mentioned to your parents once about giving him his freedom, however they dismissed without any room for argument. Your time at Hogwarts has given you a new appreciation and perspective on your parents. Yes, they are wealthy, aristocratic pureblood elitists, but it is not like they intend to be. Rarely do they go out of their way to make another’s day worse; they are just one of the many who follow the few with the soul intention of living stress free lives. They’ve ingrained themselves into the status quo of things. It’s sort of maddening. >Ask them not to embarrass you when Olivia and co arrive. >Ask about what they’re going to do while you’re gone. >other
>>24388011Don't forget Trib's nose job.

>>24388238Either it wasn't what the Trident normally does, but a special condition for not being worthy (like maybe a 'get a more suited personality next time shithead') or there was no test and Maud just gave away all her memories because she wanted to be a better teacher.

Rolled 18>>24388394“So what are you going to do while I’m gone?” you ask. Your father chimes in this time as he brings drinks back from the bar; two firewhisky’s for them, two butterbeers for you and Maud. Speaking of Maud she comes down from the second floor and sits beside you. “Well” says your father “We’re going to Romania with the cousins to go Dragon Touring, all nice and safe of course, if you don’t mind your hair a little toasty”The relationship you had with your dad has changed since you returned from Hogwarts with your sister. He seems to favour Maud more than you now, but then, you were already past the point of caring back in the first year so you don’t feel any worse for it. The backdoor Muggle entrance to the Leaky Cauldron creaks open, pouring light into the dark little space. >>24388830>>24388841You guys are motherfucking right.
Rolled 34>>24388872Changing point for me too. ___You stand from your chair and can barely contain yourself as you call them over. Olivia spots you and her face lights up letting you know the feeling is more than mutual. She scampers over and gives you a loving bear hug. “Hi, Millie” she says, pulling back and appraising you. “You look great”She turns to your family. “Hey, Maud”“Olivia”“Hey, Maud and Millie’s parents”Your mother puts down her book with an expression that makes look like she’s been stupefied. She holds out a limp hand which Olivia shakes with enthusiasm. Your father, takes a sip of his firewhiskey then gives a silent nod of ‘hello’ before also shaking her hand as if being muggleborn was an infectious disease. Olivia’s parents look like two of the nicest people you’ve ever seen; her mother, wearing typical muggle clothing, is a beautiful woman with a thin frame, her hair tied into a bun, looking like the type of mothers on food tins. The farther has a bit of a balding issue, his forehead filled with creases and his nose absurdly long and crooked. “Nice to meet you both” says Mr. Borchard “Olivia’s told us wonderful things about your daughters”>Would you like to sit?>Should we get going?>other

They do however notice that they have outstayed their welcome with your parents who watch them like the enigma’s they are. “Well, best be off to Deagon’s Alley” “Diagon Alley, Dad”“Oh, sorry my love, Diagon’s Alley” “Be seeing you” says your mother, grabbing her book and opening a page. >Say goodbye to your parents and Maud>Get the hell out of there while the going is good>other

Rolled 17You take the time to hug Maud, knowing a part of her doesn’t want to be left alone with Mum and Dad, and then give your parents a kiss on the cheek each with little goodbyes for luck.“Be seeing you” says your father, turning his attention to Maud before you and the Borchard’s have even left the vicinity. You leave out the back end to a stone wall which leads to Diagon Alley, a hunched backed man hands you Tara in her steel cage and your suitcase. He takes out his wand and taps the wall for you, which causes the bricks to separate, revealing Diagon Alley. (Don’t worry about Elise, she’s in the suitcase at the moment.)“Where should we go first?” asks Mr. Borchard “Where should we go first, girls?” says Mrs. Borchard right after. >>24389512Do we have to stick with parents? Can we send them to get books at Flourish and Blotts, while we look around at other shops?
Rolled 25>>24389618Sure, if you think it's a good idea to let to muggles walk off down a street full of magic.
>>24389512>Flourish and BlotsLet's get some books! Ones related to proper Quidditch game theory, and one on some more advanced spells. Or even ones on Occulemency and Legilimency.
>>24389512>“Be seeing you” says your father, turning his attention to Maud before you and the Borchard’s have even left the vicinity.what the fuck dad we're the favorite ;_;well, we have a pet already, we don't like sweets, so i vote >florish and blotts>explore
>>24389512Swell sweets. Also we should really apologize to Olivia's parents about our own.
>>24389625>>24389618Yeah, no, that's a bad idea.
>>243896114chan's being kind of laggy for me; maybe it is for others too.
>>24389625They are both muggles? Well fuck my reading comprehension.
>>24389611sorry brohiem i wasn't around for a bit. all my fault.
>>24388097How do the Antisocial and Rival traits work when the PC appears to have resolves these issues. Millicent seems to be on great terms with her sister and no longer seems to struggle with relating to people; do these stats/attributes/whatever still have relevance?
>>24389629Meh.As long as it stops Maud from pulling another "I was NEVER on your side".
>>24389625Yeah.... let's not do that.>>24389512F&B seems like a good place to visit.
>>24389625Well, hermionie's seemed to do fine.>>24389512[x] Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor
Rolled 25>>24389693I think they made for a good storytelling foundation to work from for me. But anything that I do now will be off of what happened in the first year as well as new cool stuff. So basically they're not relevant anymore because the character has evolved enough not to need it.
>>24389693OP pretty much said that he's used them as a base but the sheet is no longer really relevant.
>>24389693Maybe we get a new rival? That could be fun.
>>24389625Don't think that's a good idea.
>>24389722But will we still get the bonuses and penalties of Antisocial?Just because Millicent is no longer actively misanthropic of people around her, doesn't mean she's going to let just anyone be her friend.Especially after all of the trust issues she had during Year 1.
You know guys.. I keep seeing this quest coming up all the time, and even though I don't care about Harry Potter I'm glad you guys are having such a good time
>>24389722I think it makes sense to have rivals and enemys, if everyone liked us instantly upon meeting us it'd be weird.
>>24389722Ah, I see.I sometimes run into this problem with RPG characters. The character still has these mechanical traits, but the character arc no longer reflects how the PC thinks about their world.SO far, I love what I've read of this quest, and wanna see what new direction you're taking. Thanks for the quest, OP!
>>24389512Definitely go to Flourish and Blots. Not only do they sell books, they also sell foreshadowing for the next year.
Rolled 64You make Flourish and Blots your first point of call, walking down the alley jam packed with Wizards, Olivia’s parents fascinated by every little thing they see. “How has your holiday been, Millie?” asks Olivia as you walk. Now in the late morning light you can see her baby fat she had last year has sunk away, she’s just a bit shorter than you, but has grown into a very pretty girl. >It was alright, I’m excited to see what a muggle household is like>other
>>24389831It was alright, I’m excited to see what your household is like.
>>24389831>very pretty girlIT BEGINS
>>24389850This, removing that "muggle" word for tact.
>>24389399That is what happened everyone wanted to recruit pirates for shadowy support/connections(worked great too). As for the AI we unleashed it in order to get away with our less then legal goods(it took over). Supposedly the plan was to build up support before going into politics because we were broke. The only thing we had going for us was one of the Great Houses owed us big time thus how we became nobility in the first place.>>24389850seconded.
>>24389831>It was alright, I've been spending a lot of time with Maud. I'm excited to be going to a muggle household though. I've never visited one before.
>>24389876>>24389324Kinda sounds like Battletech without the mechs.
>>24389512> HA! I am in time for yet another thread!let's EXPLORE of course! let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure
>>24389875Muggle isn't an offensive word.
>>24389831>other: everything's different now olive, since maud lost her memories mum and dad don't seem to think much of me anymore. I used to be the center of their world and now they barely acknowledge me. Im not really sure how i fe- nevermind, this is stupid. hows you're holiday going?
>>24389831>It was alright, I’m excited to see what a muggle household is likeExcept say "your household" instead of "muggle household". Millicent does have tact.
>>24389923Yes but it implying that you're more interested in her house for it's novelty over it being the place she grew up in is.
>>24389831A lot less stressful. Which is nice for a change. I wonder how everyone else is doing, though.
>>24389923Oh, right. It's 'mudblood' that's offensive. Muggle is a simple statement of fact, differentiating between magical and non-magical. However, I think that Millicent would be more excited about visiting Olivia's household, rather than just a muggle household.
>>24389701>hermionies muggle family JK really should have touched on that more in the books. Oh wait she is about to in this thread!

I’m looking forward to seeing what your house is like” you say. “You know it’s nothing like wizard houses, I don’t think it’ll impress you much, but I’m sure we’ll have a good time anyway. >>24393408I don't recall that... Didn't Wood just hand him a catalogue and say "pick"?
>>24393464Olivia seemed to be on the whole Squib rights thing and we have a track record of reevaluating our opinion when she morally disagrees with it, so we'd probably check it out simply because we've got our moral compass with us.

>>24393557Ron got his broom from his parents when he became a prefect and became keeper.Checking back in book 1... after talking Wood out of class McGonagall talked with them about about Harry joining the team. Wood just sort of mentions that he'll need a broom suggesting a Nimbus or Cleansweep. McGonagall says she'll need Dumbledore's permission to let Harry play in his first year. Then the nimbus just arrives in the mail on Halloween... Nothing about McGonagall or Dumbledore buying it for him just for Gryffindor's sake. One could assume it was standard procedure to provide sports brooms to players.Harry's Firebolt came from Sirius as a gift
>>24393566It seems like when it comes to morality, Millicent tends to defer to whatever Olivia thinks is the right thing to do.Also it could be interesting to see how Olivia's parents respond to learning that the wizarding world essentially still has slavery.

am i the only one left who wants to really play a dyed-in-the-wool pureblood?
>>24393993> implying no charachter growth whatsoevereven malfoy evolved as a person, and he was surrounded by cronies. We are surrounded by those who would call themselves our friends.
>>24393993I think you're definitely the minority, but keep it up. A decision that leads to conflict isn't necessarily a bad thing for an interactive story, after all.I'm personally trying to keep to the more risky stuff in all the non-social encounters.
>>24394047Ironically, it's thanks to Maud crossing the line of sibling rivalry into huge bitchery. If we hadn't thought our parents might cut us off, we might not have left our comfort zone and made more of an effort to make friends.
>>24393566I'm looking forward to Millicent's discovery of junk food.
>>24394047> implying no charachter growth whatsoeveryeah, because "good" and "evil" are things, and "evil" means no character growth, hurr durr burn everything.Idk why it's so hard for you folks to embrace our heritage, OP is competent enough to roll with a grey character "raised a certain way", i think it's a waste to not explore that aspect of the wizarding world.
>>24394156keep dropping trip for some reason
>>24394156Maybe we would have, if our crazy sister hadn't decided to begin her journey into the wonders of mail fraud. Thanks to that, we thought ourselves forced into seeing things differently and made bonds we otherwise wouldn't have.
>>24394192see what differently, exactly? i don't even know what we were raised to believe! other than house elves are slaves and muggles are beneath us. Like, who ARE we, who WERE we before all this happened? Arent you curious at all?
>>24394122wizards have junk food made by oddly shaped midgets who wear linens as clothes
>>24394236maybe that's why millie doesn't eat sweets
>>24394192And now we're kind of disillusioned with our father and parent's way of life. And we have followed our heritage in the past. We ignored the Squib rights thing and felt nothing over killing a house elf.>>24394230I'm kind of a bit confused of what you want from Millie's character, or at least how the choices you're voting for actually get you it; could you explain?
Rolled 15>>24394230A daughter to a pureblood family who are comfortable being rich and don't kick up a fuss otherwise. You had no friends before hogwarts and was content with your doll Fur Elise. You had a house elf slave but thought nothing of it because that's the way you thought things were, not because of anything malicious. You had no opinion on mudbloods because no one had talked to you about that sort of thing. You also have a fear of water before of an incident in cambodia. That's sort of who you were.
>>24394230It seems like our parents somehow managed to be emotionally distant, even when they favored us.Like you can just look at how Millicent's and Maud's personalities turned out to see that, even though the Fauxley parents are surprisingly well-meaning, they're not exactly good at the whole being parents thing.
>>24394310and we have no proof they are good at being married. Maybe they are just a couple of forever alone togethers trying to make it by after their arranged pureblood marriage.
>>24394310>>24394354A bit of "house life" might be coole, maybe during break.
>>24394291i think it fitting, in a word, to be a bit snobby. Finer tastes, very clean, things like that.>>24394306you said we're daddy's girl, right? maybe we share similar interests? like for me, my dad taught me all about gardening. i was the favorite. of course, millie might not be into that specifically, but you see where im going with this?>>24394310even then you still pick up things from your folks. the way you answer the phone, the way you sneeze, how and when you talk behind peoples back, the words you use, your accent, the languages you know. Even at a distance you pick these things up.
Rolled 18>>24394384Good point. I think Millie has her father's aloofness, that calculating part of her. As for mannerisms I'm not sure, I'll work on that.
>>24394384this is all true, but you also gotta remember that we went on for a year believing that they hated us.From what transpired, from our parent we picked up "we are better because pureblood". During first year they told us we weren't part of the family anymore, and we had to find someone else to emotionally attach to (namely maud + olivia). Maud's trickery could have wiped out most of our belief in a single stroke.Am i a mudblood now?
>>24394384>i think it fitting, in a word, to be a bit snobby. Finer tastes, very clean, things like that.I always imagine Millicent would have been largely raised by a nanny. Also, in my mind she does have to call her father "Sir" when addressing him.
>>24394433didn't any part of you feel relief when we learned they didn't actually hate us? That we could actually go home and sleep in our own bed again, despite the way we thought they'd treated us?
Rolled 100>>24394453I thought it would get a better reaction that it did, only thing is Millie and the Questers are one in the same, they no longer cared because she didn't.
>>24394453Sure there was some relief, but part of the problem is that we saw things that repeatedly showed their worldview as faulty, plus on some level a bit of reflection on just how fucked up Maud and to a lesser degree Millicent turned out.A big part of it is that when we received the forged note of being disowned, we passed our dealing with it challenge.
>>24394384Alright, that makes sense. I guess I just saw a bit of detachment between your choices and your motives like with the pamphlet, but I guess it was more smelly hippies than equal rights that was the problem.>>24394453I felt the way Millie did, detached. She shrugged off the fake disownment so she was pretty much prepared for whatever. Now, though, despite not being her dad's favorite, Millie's parents remain unchanged but Millie herself went through a lot of changes and doesn't see her parents in the same light anymore. That disillusionment combined with the pressure of pleasing daddy being gone has kind of freed her up to try new things and move away from her parent's ideals, which she would probably want to actively move away from. She's entered her rebellious phase.
>>24394502for us as the readers to like her parents again you would have to write us a lot of convincing reasons for millie to like them such as they bought her wizard disney land or brought back firefly
Rolled 32>>24394557There isn't much about them to like, nor do they really give a shit about their kids other than it's the-thing-to-do. So fuck em, really.
>>24394514>we saw things that repeatedly showed their worldview as faultylike what, people of lower breeding being sympathetic to slaves? Hogwarts uses house elves, bottom line. they're part of the problem, no matter what the little wretches believe. The purebloods, the old ways, are right and there for a reason.>>24394528i'll say this, even when i hated my parents and my dad i still wanted them to be proud of me. Because if i was succeeding that was the best and loudest "fuck you" i could ever say.
>>24394572that's my attitude. HPQ are you me with less murika?
>>24394572I hope they don't rub off on Maud too much.As good as it is that they are giving her attention, I don't think they're really the best influences.
>>24394592...Did you forget about Soup?
>>24394611>I hope they don't rub off on Maud too much.>As good as it is that they are giving her attention, I don't think they're really the best influences."Maud, please stop hanging our with our parents, they aren't a good influence on you."God, that would be one awkward conversation.
>>24394592To me it sounds like you are trying put to much of yourself in to a character that already has a personality.
Rolled 19>>24394593I couldn't get into firefly. But pretty much.
>>24394592Yes, but did you want them to be proud of you for what you wanted to do, or for what they wanted you to do?Millie doesn't hate her parents, she just wants to do her own thing, which is different from their thing. Are you sure you it isn't that you would have preferred to play a Slytherin over a Ravenclaw.
>>24394632Nah I can see his point. They should have had more of an influence on our behavior before we began kind of gradually shifting towards the standard personality for /tg/ protagonists.
Rolled 35Isn't it weird that after only 46 threads that Millie and co feel like real people? (close enough anyway)
>>24394592what hits home more than a parent realizing their kid doesn't need them?>>24394627soup is soup, he's an enigma who's probably more powerful than we are, and people respect power.>>24394632im just trying to keep us from recreating harry potter word for word and skipping hand in hand with the entire school across a field of daisys singing showtunes
>>24394557>brought back fireflytoo soon man, that still hurts dearlyi think the point of the question here is that we got "disowned", got over it, got ready to live without them, then got them back. But they left a kid in hogwarts, to get back a scarred young adult who has been exposed to death, tragedy and friendship. We have measured what we learned from our supplicants against our parents teachings, and found them wanting.
>>24394628Luckily it seems like she spent the rest of the term at Hogwarts with us and our friends, so due to her amnesia, she actually has more memories of us than them.
>>24394661no, i actually wanted to be ravenclaw, i was surprised we got it.i just wanted to play a certain voice in her head.
>>24394664The whole thing with Millie and Maud can legitimately bring tears to my eyes, you warlock.

>>24394719Yeah... there's no way we could have pulled off Hufflepuff or Gryffindor.
>>24394679Oh, alright.Well, anyway, I see your point now and like I said, keep it up. I don't see anything wrong with what you're going for after all. It's not like we want more friends or anything. We seem to be fine with just Olivia and the rest of those guys we're more distant with because of severe trust issues.

So do Pureblood families have actual political influence or are they just prestigious? Because if the latter that's kind of got some implications.
>>24395034I mean former. Woops.
Rolled 53>>24395034Yeah they have a ton of influence. Millie's parents are upper-middle class purebloods in high standing positions.
>>24395034in my head i've always equated being pureblood to something like being born into the Masons, you have deep pockets, deep connections and standing simply because of who you are.>>24395056did you ever decide what it is they do exactly?
Rolled 61>>24395082The mother works in the concealment of magic division in the ministry. Her father also works in the ministry but as to what he does you'll have to wait until it's explained in the context of the story.
>>24395056Okay, well. As they are a lineage-based system there is literally no way to maintain that standing without repeated marriages to relatives(typically half-siblings and cousins) in order to keep that influence within the family. It's the reason real nobles did it and I wasn't sure if Purebloods behaved the same way. Feel free to ignore me, actually you probably should.
Rolled 76>>24395129Don't think so much. It's bad for you.
>>24395109>concealment of magicWouldn't that require her to know an above-the-norm deal about muggle culture and technology, if her job is hiding magic from them?
>>24395142No one ever wants to talk politics. Will do
>>24395109he's a spy. They really are going to romania to spy on the wizards there, to steal the secret of rubber ducks
>>24395160Explains why she was reading that book then. Also, she's apparently been really busy lately, something must be up.
>>24395129that's established in the books too. One of the weasleys remarked how they were long relatives of the malfoys, and most of the pureblood families were related precisely because you couldn't find that many pureblooded individuals.
>>24395183more like the man was referring to this
>>24395189The Pureblood superiority sentiment may have been born of political necessity then.
>>24395219it's been rooted into wizard society since slytherin, probably even before. I came to think of it just as their way of dealing with nobility.so we a class traitor now. El pueblo unido jamas sera vencido, and all that jazz
>>24395241i don't know if we're old enough to really understand the ramifications of being a class traitor, if anything our family is probably mildly snubbed for "letting their youngest run wild like that."
>>24395264maybe that's why dad doesn't like us as much as he did. He explains our actions off so much at work he's starting to actually distance himself at home :(
>>24395241I guess it's a chicken and egg thing, I wouldn't be able to say for sure without knowing the exact reason behind the Masquerade. The nobility system could've evolved based on Pureblood sentiment depending on why exactly they decided to not mingle with the non-magical folk anymore. Who am I saying, they probably just though they were better when they suddenly realized they could break shit with their minds, this whole society is corrupt from the root.
Just woke up and yay Millie and I thought Olivia's dad was a wizard?A GRAVE OVERSIGHT INDEED.
>>24395309it's simple. It nigh guarantees the magical capabilities of offspring, keep knowledge and artifacts in a trusted, if not highly paranoid group of people with a vested interest in protecting it, and assures status in politics forever as long as they stay xenophobic, which is virtually also guaranteed because of previous points.Gather yourselves by the fire to keep away the wolves.
>>24395388Well, there's also technically an evolutionary explanation to this but this is getting too "Method's of Rationality" for me.
>>24395441i agree. I admit it's not right nor sustainable, but that's what comes to mind when im trying to think of how purebloods came to be.
Rolled 96>>24395351That's Nigel I believe.
>>24395475Oh, yeah. For some reason I recalled it was Olivia, though if my memory had it's way everything would be Olivia. That girl is too adorable for her own good.
>>24395475wait mom and dad are letting us run around with straight muggles? What the fuck, do they really think that hogwarts will just "sort us out" and we'll graduate as an upstanding moral pureblood citizen ready to marry and breed?
>>24395508Same here. I also thought Olivia had one wizard parent.
Rolled 49>>24395508I MIGHT BE WRONG, though.
Rolled 12>>24395523If this is the case it's a minor detail which I can go back and change, being as it doesn't completely change her character. A good one line edit and presto, resolved. There's a fuck ton of things to keep track of.
>>24395527No, it was Nigel. We talked with him about his Squib/Muggle mom and everything.
>>24395537Give me a few minutes, and I'll check the archives.
>>24395527Goddammit, HPQ, my paranoia gained a +1. Am I remembering things correctly? Or only imagining things? What is reality, anyhow? Maybe you should have everyone's names and short descriptions of their backgrounds etc in a seperate text document you could refer to? Saves on confusion, and you won't have to rely on memory alone.
The owls arrive and throw down copies of the daily prophet and parcels for those who'se parents haven't completely abandoned them. You've decided to let Tara follow you around today, she hisses as the owls soar overhead. On the front page of the prophet you can see a moving image of a crowd of people protesting outside the ministry of magic.SQUIB RIGHTS NOW! Headlining in bold letters."What's a squib?" asks Olivia, confused.>Answer the question>Let someone else>other"A squib is a person who can perceive magic like wizards but can't actually do any themselves" you say "or so my Dad says"Joel nods "that's pretty much it""My mother's a squib" says Nigel, indifferently. You're not really sure how to react to that. Is is a bad thing?>What does you mother do?>Aren't you from a full wizard family?>other
>>24395547>>24395537I quickly skimmed the threads I thought it was mentioned in, but found nothing. Seems like I remembered this incorrectly.
>>24395579now that i think about it it makes sense for purebloods to have enslaved house elves. If any of their children are squibs house elves can fight for them and aparate them away from harm. It's kinda like having a guard dog that talks and does your laundry.
>>24395648I'm pretty sure Squibs are mostly Muggle Born, but it would coincide with how magical power tends to weaken in Purebloods over time.
>>24395670even so, im feel like im starting to piece some things together. Maybe the current state of wizard/elf relations is just a profane abuse of what started as a system of partnership. Humans are big and know deep magic, they can feed and house elves. elves are small and naturally gifted, they need no weapons. Its a great partnership to ensure the survival of the family, and by extention, magic throughout the dark ages. over time when wizarding communities got safer the children didnt need protecting, and their role changed from one of defender to servant, to what it is today.
>>24395752Considering laws prevent children from using magic until out of school that makes sense. Also, Pester was bought right after Millies birth so there does seem to be a strong relationship between house elves and kids.
I'm so stoked for the next thread.
I dunno if i want to get into politics, though. That stuff can tear a family apart faster than incest.
Rolled 58>>24396420You would know. I JOKE I LOVE YOU REALLY, WHICH WORKS OUT BETTER FOR US BECAUSE WE'RE NOT RELATED AND ALL
>>24396448I would actually know, both casesI JEST OF COURSE WE ARE ALL JESTING ALSO JOUSTING I LIKE HORSIES
Rolled 27If I were to continue the quest right now what would the reaction be? I might do this in future.
>>24396719If I weren't still here, I would be a tad annoyed unless you announced it earlier. Missing a part of the quest just because I didn't know it would continue... kinda sucks.
>>24396719Still here... watching... waiting... in the suitcase...
Rolled 54>>24396746I wouldn't do that to you, I'd say before hand that I'm taking a break before continuing later. >>24396747Be quiet! Others mustn't know you're alive!
>>24396763>I'd say before hand that I'm taking a break before continuing later. That would work for me.
>>24396763If you'd annunce it it would be cool. Otherwise it would be laaaaaaaaaaaame
