You can't remember the last living fools who dare enter the Library Labyrinth of ULTIMATE KNOWLEDGE, but you remember that you have written it down somewhere amongst your many scribbled notes that's scattered all over your dusty and gloomy sanctuary: no doubt its all but lost in this mess of post-its. Nonetheless, there are living things in YOUR HOME! Now, what are you going to do about it?[ ] Nothing at all. I'll leave it up to my many traps that I've developed and devised in my spare time when I was not studying forgotten and forbidden magic. I have other things to attend to.[ ] I'll let my undead minions that patrol my bookshelf-walled dungeon to deal with them. If whatever is left of the soon-to-be-dead living fools are whole, I'll add them to my undead ranks. I have other things to attend to.[ ] To hell with it! I, personally, WILL DEAL WITH THE INTRUDERS! It'll give me something else to do besides my daily monotony.

>>23882734This looks pretty interesting. Sadly I am about to go to bed. Have a free bump.
>>23882814Thank you so much, kind sir. Have a good one.
Send the skullies at them.

>>23882734As a Lich myself, I can say that it's get pretty boring in those libraries.I vote we get to have some fun and deal with these adventurers in person.
>>23882933I second this, it'll be good to get those old bones moving again
Might as wellchanging >>23882926to >>23882933
>>23882776> Fuck them, I got lich things to do.YES! Very important lich things to do. Like remembering why you've become a lich to begin with! You've been wondering about this for quite sometime now... You know you've left some clues to yourself eons ago somewhere in the dungeon, but where?>>23882841Yes! You have many skullies! Skullies that you've been collecting for years! They are your pride and joy that you've even considered of stopping them from their patrolling duties and placing them on top of shelves like prized trophies. >>23882926Well, if the minions don't get them, then perhaps the traps will. >>23882933It looks like we're doubting ourselves here. Maybe a little excitement will jog our memories about our past?
>>23883006Well, we have a winner. Gonna start typing it up.
Writing a book, OP?
>>23882933>>23882986>>23883006Feeling a little dull and perhaps a little weathered too, you've decided to confront these living-beings to liven up--to get the juices flowing into you again. And once you do just that, you see a pair of children: one donning a splintered chainmail that looks quite too big for him and a girl dressed in a dirtied and torn robe with a sagging cone hat on top of her brunette head. The boy immediately stood in front of the robed girl with a sharp short-sword readied on hand, glaring at you a mean-spirited look. No doubt his tough act is just an act as its visible to see his legs tremble beneath him. As for the long-haired girl, well, she happened to drop her wand the moment she saw you teleport in front of them, she's letting out quite a blood-curling scream. Well, this is a disappointment. What to do with them? [ ] Scare them out of their wits. They deserve that much for coming to your library lair.[ ] To hell with this. Turn around and mope back to your sanctuary. You do have bigger fish to fry.[ ] You can kill them... but what's the point when they're so young and so weak.
>>23883306I'm just a slow typer. Painfully, woefully slow. So slow that I'm essentially not touch-typing at all but poking and pecking at my keyboard like a chicken probing through soft soil.
>>23883380>[ ] To hell with this. Turn around and mope back to your sanctuary. You do have bigger fish to fry.Should invest in a lock for the door, stop letting the rabble in. Tell them to come back in twenty years or so.
>>23883430You might want to work on your typing skills then, mate.
>>23883380I reject your realities and substitute my own! Offer to make them necromancer apprentices. They're young and easily influenced and worse comes to worst, you can make them into some amusing mini skeleton.
>>23883380>[ ] Scare them out of their wits. They deserve that much for coming to your library lair.Hell, they came this far, give 'em something to remember.
>>23883462I've tried but Mavis can only teach me so much.
>>23883475Hey! Now that's an idea! What's better than one necromancer? MORE THAN ONE!
>>23883475>>23883582This is beginning to sound like a good idea. Just need another voice to agree with this pair to make it stick. Otherwise I'm gonna start painfully typing away very, very slowly.
>>23883621Here's your final vote.
>>23883621AND MY AXE
>>23883630I was already typing away, fool! But this makes it more concrete. See you all in a life time or so.
>>23883667We're a Lich, we can wait.
>>23883475>>23883582>>23883630>>23883654The young girl continued to scream as the boy's eyes focused into your, well, hollowed eye sockets. Things looked tense on their own end until your question, "How would you two be interested in learning what I know?" made them lessen their guard. Well, the boy's guard, the girl finally stopped screaming, looking at you confused."What do you mean?" The boy asked."Is this some kind of trick?"Perhaps... perhaps it isn't. "We--we've come here seeking knowledge from the Library Labyrinth."The girl spoke, with a bit of hesitation in her voice. "So, we'll gladly accept your offer if you let us seek this knowledge and to use it to save our town."Well, we finally know of their motive for coming here. Accept or negotiate the finer details of this impending contract of pupillage?
>>23883885Inform the skeletons to get the sharpening stones and inquire as to exactly what the town needs saving from
>>23883885Accept. "Very well.By the way, what is wrong with your village that makes it need saving?"
>>23883943It's probably skeletons.
>>23883930I guess we can help the kiddies with their troubles, but let's not give our services away for free! Besides, they're just looking for knowledge. We'll give them all the knowledge that they'll need. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!>>23883943Any others question this quick, impulsive agreement? We can ask them right now about their town.
>>23884017Well, then we take those wayward skeletons and add them to our ranks.... or use them as building materials, either or.>>23884036Yeah, I'd vote for asking for more details about what's troubling their town. I'm skeptical as to whether these kids even HAVE anything worth negotiating for.
>>23884036Ask about the town.
>>23884017Well, there are other liches besides yourself. You're not sure if there are any necromancers around the world. But you do scry on your evenly powerful brethren from time to time, making sure that they try not to invade your book entombed lair.
>>23884036Fine. We will ask what is wrong with the skeleton factory.
>>23884061>>23884071It doesn't hurt to ask after all."What plagues your town... children." You made sure to make the word 'children' sound as hoarse as undeathly-possible. "Nona." The boy said with a worried tone, turning to her with a frown."What are you doing!""It's asking what we've come here to do. Let's jump on his offer before he changes his mind!"The girl then pushed the armor-clad boy aside as she walked in front of you while still standing awry far away from you."O--our town is being cursed... I know its a curse! Our parents, all of the adults, and even our older brothers and sisters, have succumb to an eerily, eternal sleep. So, we'll do anything in order to save them."Well, they're eager. We have the advantage here guys.
>>23884291Wonderful. Hmm, unwakeable sleep. Does that sound familiar to us at all, or do we have no idea? Also, can we get a quick overview of what we do have? What is our territory, our forces, our reputation?
>>23884291>awry far away from you.If this doesn't make any sense, well, I meant to say wryly. It got away from me while I was quickly proof-reading it. My bad.
>>23884291Do we know offhand of anything in our library, or our memory, that could help with this? Regardless, let's invite them in. We could use some company, and if this doesn't work out, we're certainly powerful enough to just kill them later.Let's also get some pointlessly animated minions to re-secure the entrance to our dungeon, since it has clearly been seriously compromised.
>>23883380"o my god you kids are so adorable com on now I am sure I put a kitchen in her some wear I will bake you some cookies, would you like some cookies?"
>>23884061Blorp! You alive!
>>23884291sleep and it only effects those above puberty you say? Interesting. well I am sure we can find a book on magic sleeping spells some ware. (lets help them kids)
>>23884291This is a worrisome curse. If someone eventually figured out how to use it on us, we'd never be able to get any research done! We should be sure to keep the girl, or anyone else, from discovering too much about the curse and keep its secret(s) for ourselves.
Hey quick question is this the Adventure Tmie world, or it's some nondescript place we'll elaborate on later?
>>23884326Well, for starters...The Library Labyrinth, our territory, is always adding knowledge to its collection; mostly, recently passed history or some other written garbage. From time to time it does add magical tomes of arcane knowledge--obviously that's what we're interested in. The library magically adds books to its collection as soon as they are written, so the labyrinth is always growing deeper and deeper down. As for our minions, well, we have over or about 7,000 humanoid skeletons clad in whatever they had when they were alive. Some of them probably have enchanted weapons and armor, but who cares about such trinkets anyway. You do have a zombie black elder dragon that you've slain a long, long time ago. It wanted your lair to be its own. You had none of that. A long time ago, you would often get adventurers trying to pillage from your library, but, of course, they never come out to the light of day once they enter. Its been quiet for a very long time until now. So, you don't really know of your reputation at all. How did these kids know to come here is beyond you.
>>23884478Plus, if we manage to reverse-engineer it and alter it, why we could finally get a good nights sleep! Damn creepy magical artifacts, always making strange noises. I swear we don't know why we keep half of it anymore.
>>23884507Its not referenced from anything. Sorry to disappoint you.
>>23884569Do we even need to sleep?
>>23884560sounds Tzeentch esque. Is he our patron god?
>>23884569Now this is a very good idea! I'm gonna scribble it down on this piece of parchment, and perhaps, find a wall to nail it down.
>>23884587Dunno, but we haven't for ages, that can't be good for our health!
>>23884587Well, we pretended to do it once. It was a pointless practice.
>>23884291Hmm. First, do some research, see if our library contains some sort of info on that spell. Afterward, maybe offer to go up there, take a look around, and then loot the hell out of the town while discovering what makes that spell tick?Frankly, a spell that makes EVERYONE in an area fall asleep FOREVER could be pretty damn useful if we reverse-engineered it (as long as you iron out the fact that it doesn't seem to affect spunky, evil-plan-destroying kids). As for the kids themselves, take them up on that offer in return for "anything we want." That could come in handy in the future, i.e. if we discover that there's something really neat in that town, we can get them to snatch it for us. Or something.>>23884419I try to make a habit of staying alive, yes.
>>23884560Sounds like we have a lot at our disposal actually.I'd say the most important thing we could find right now is a magic spell that prevents you from forgetting things and makes one remember everything. Who knows what vast knowledge has slipped through our mind over the centuries. As for the children, make up some false excuse on how their town will never rest until they've mastered the art of necromancy.
>>23884560Are we responsible for the creation of the labyrinth, or did we take it from someone?
>>23884628This.What's the point of Ultimate Knowledge if you can't remember any of it?
>>23884617..... also, do we have a name? "Lich of the Library Labyrinth" is kind of a mouthful, unless we shortened it to LLL or Triple-L or something like that.Besides, we're overdue on a grandly intimidating "FOOLS, COWER BEFORE THE MIGHT OF [hi my name is]" self introduction.
>>23884372>>23884419>>23884436>>23884478Well, it looks like we're helping the kids out so its an agreement. I doubt we would of gotten anything else from the kids anyway. They are puny anyway.>>23884596Nope. Wrong universe. I'm guessing its safe for me to type up the next scene?
>>23884670By all means go ahead. We're all in consensus that the children will be an invaluable asset. At least for the moment.
>>23884663Perhaps we have forgotten our name.I enjoy the image of an enormously powerful undead sorcerer who wears a literal "Hello, my name is-" sticker because he has more important things to remember than what he calls himself.
>>23884690They might even be able to remember to walk the skeletal hounds! Wait, did we have any skeletal hounds? I can't remember.
>>23884745Do we even remember if they need to be walked? No really like I said, finding a spell of remembrance should be our first priority. Hopefully we'll remember that.
>>23884627I like this lich's thinking. >>23884628Its... kind of pointless trying to remember of every little detail that passes through time. I don't even remember how I was like when I was alive and why I am here in the labyrinth to begin with. I settled with writing notes here and there all over the place.> As for the children, make up some false excuse on how their town will never rest until they've mastered the art of necromancy.Oh yes. No doubt about that. Hehe.>>23884638It was a lively place once, but now, well... not so much.>>23884652But I DO remember some of it. Whatever I don't use or learn or practice I end up forgetting. But, all I need is a little push in order to remember things, hence the notes.>>23884663Having a name is pointless. What's the point of a name when you tell someone of your name and you kill them soon after. Minor details.
>>23884663We are Carl.
>>23884627Seconding help in exchange for "anything" or "a favor"
>>23884806The favor is that the boy becomes our Deathknight and the girl becomes our Apprentice.
>>23884745>>23884769>>23884789>>23884806I'll get to you guys in a moment but for now, typing.
>>23884782>Its... kind of pointless trying to remember of every little detail that passes through time. I don't even remember how I was like when I was alive and why I am here in the labyrinth to begin with. I settled with writing notes here and there all over the place.Alright, I just hope we're not forgetting something important or vital and that we're not missing any notes. Like an ancient prophecy about us when we were alive or about children. I also hope these notes are ordered in someway, so we're not having to waste time sifting through them all everyday.
>>23884852Or that we set these events into motions a few decades ago to liven things up a bit when we were feeling particular bored.
>>23884852>>23884877Maybe a magic crystal ball teleprompter would be better than hundreds of stickynotes lining a wall.

>>23884627>>23884628>>23884690>>23884806>>23884819"Then... I'll help you look for the knowledge to reverse of this curse and even aid your town of its malady. The boy exclaimed, giving his companion a horrified expression."You, you can't be serious. Do you ever know who he is?""It does not matter, Kip. It is a better alternative than being already dead by his unholy power."Heh... She's already brown-nosing us. Cute."We'll accept your conditions, so please, help us now!" "Very well... Let us begin our search."Well, the library is big, where should we go and look?[ ] Since it's a curse, let's start at the Curse and Hex section of the library.[ ] This oddly sounds familiar to something else... like a legend. >>23885065>[ ] I know the girl says it's a curse, but I don't find her credible at all. How about making a trip to their town to see what's the big deal? We've been locked away from the outside world for too long, why not take a road trip?Though we should probably disguise ourselves, a Lich wandering around the overworld is probably not something the locals are used to.Also we should probably get our new pupils something to eat and a place to rest. Our stocks kind of went rancid a few centuries after becoming a Lich.
>>23885065>[X ] This oddly sounds familiar to something else... like a legend. A legend of an immortal sorcerer that once tried to put the entire world to sleep.>>23885106and all the flattery, she is sharp probable knows what we are dealing with.

>>23885065[ ] This oddly sounds familiar to something else... like a legend. A legend of an immortal sorcerer that once tried to put the entire world to sleep. We musn't leap before we look. Let's gather some information before we stumble into something we we'rent prepared for.
>>23884745>>23884769We don't have skeleton dogs since they tend to rip everything in sight, such as books that we haven't read yet, and its very difficult ordering them around. >>23884789Carl... I like the sound of it. What do the rest of you think?>>23884806Well, they're our underlings now, so we can boss them around all we want now.
>>23885065Check the town, send in a few skulls or child zombies with a few adult corpses, see if any are affected. Collecting data yourself is obviously going to be more trustworthy than the girls recount. Unless they're planning an ambush outside the library.Keep one of them in the childs section, place a few magic wards that explode if you die.
>>23885190perfect disguise, ask the children what they think, surely they will marvel at our cunning.
>>23885141>>23885190Nay, I say we take a battalion of skeletons and flex our magic muscles again. See if any of the old tricks still work, or how the world has changed since we last remember it. We'll need to see if our army needs to catch up with the latest weaponry.Though I highly doubt we'll find much resistance with the town being asleep and all.
>>23885106>>23885141>>23885173>>23885190>>23885191Gonna wait a few more minutes before I say I'll type. This next piece may be my last entry until next time. Have us plow through the curses/hexes section, and toss a book of legends at the kids and see if they're actually useful.Better to check if they've got the chops for researching this kind of stuff by giving them something relatively harmless to chew on. Exploration can come after we gather/fail to gather info.>>23885250Seconding Carl.>>23885248That depends on a lot of things, like how fast you type. I've found that I kind of need like... six/seven hours to get anything done, but that's because I type a LOT per post and it takes longer in comparison.

>>23885426>>>23885227>Hope you guys don't mind if my minions scout out ahead for me.I liked his idea, in other words.
Extending my bony arm out, I called my minions to do my bidding. "My pathfinders, go backtrack the path that these children took to get here, and scout their precious town of ill intent."I led the children deep into the labyrinth, namely to the Mythology and Legend section of the library. As we traveled, I noticed the children being curious and often times horrified at what they saw. We passed many book-filled shelves which caused the girl to frequently pause to inspect a title, but as she noticed us, the boy and I, walk further ahead of her, she would quickly jog right back to our walking pace. No doubt she must feel frustrated that she couldn't pick up a book and begin reading it right then and there. Both of the children looked frightened at the scattered and broken remains of past adventurers and their decaying equipment. Most of the previously living corpses evidently triggered traps while the rest of the corpses had obvious evidence that they were in a fearsome battle. The boy would continue to stare at the once fought scenes long after we passed them. No doubt imagining at the fight that was once there. When we reached the Mythology and Legend section, the children appeared fatigued and tired. I don't know how long we've walked but they could sure use a breather. 1/2
>>23885931"We are here."I told them. "You may rest here for now as I begin to research the dilemma of your town." With a flick of my wrist, a pair of small chairs and a small table sprouted from the cobblestone floor. On top of the rooted table were a pair of silvered plates and their utensils, a pair of wooden mugs, and a platter of food that included a stick of cheese, a loaf of bread, and a stick of cured-meat, and a pitcher filled with children ale. They looked at me suspiciously. "The living need nourishment, and I would like you alive if you to be my pupils."It does not matter whether they take my hospitality, but for now we must do research. .............................And next time we'll start rolling for what we find about the legend of that sorcerer and what our minions find at town. If you have any critiques, go ahead and give them to me.
>>23885964i like it. seems to have potential. an evil lich that has gotten so old he dosnt even see the need to put in the energy to be evil. and i cant wait to see how these two little morsels will will make a fatal mistake with us. Any chance i can get a time for the next one?
