You are a human-form gargoyle crafted of marble set to protect a small town on the frontier of the wild darkness. Your people are still ignorant of what you are, and rightfully so. Knowledge of what you are would simply prove that they fear you or the monsters among them tempt your destruction. The prior night, you vanquished a banshee and a werewolf that had set their sights upon your small town. Your current, and most reliable weapons have been your stealth and a metal candle-staff crafted of Iron and silver.Dozing off upon your perch throughout the day, you feel the soul of the Werewolf from the prior night settle within you, causing your material form to gain a reconstructive ability similar to the werewolf's regeneration. You have 1 exp point to spend from absorbing the Banshee. The girl, Molly has visited you after the attack and dubbed you with a name. "Angel." Gargoyles are named by their people after all.In the day, upon your abandoned church, people have spoken that the previous night's fire has laid waste to the newer church in town, so it is likely that yours will regain function. You awaken for another night as the sun sets, you feel your body gain movement as the sun vanishes into the horizon. The night is dark, and full of terrors.

The night air is cool and fresh against your form. The moon is waning, you had not noticed that the prior night must have been the full moon.Something in you feels that monsters may come out more often around that time... Then again, Gargoyles are programmed to become active every night. A guardian's duty is never done. You feel a bit more... Wild than before, almost as though you'd like to howl. >>23845591>Take staff and cloak. >Patrol the perimeter of the town.Depending on what a quick sweep turns up we can focus our attention where is seems needed.>Spend EXP point.Vote for Mind Whisper.
And Brutality tree is more expensive due to choosing Dark Guard as a beginning specialty. It'll go down if you absorb a proper brutal soul.Available purchases:Earthen: You are more in tune with the origin of your material; Primal magic is easier to channel; Earth is easier to shape.Solid Marble: Your form is far more solid due to your understanding of it and the magics that hold you together. Your bludgeoning ability and defense is increased.Polished: You are far more presentable. You stand out more in light, yet the townsfolk appreciate you more as a statue.Mind Whisper: Allows you to put subtle whispers into the minds of mortals. Their consciousness is weak. When you whisper them, their mind gains a small link to you. Allows you to enter their dreams with more training. They feel your presence.
Fae: You have attuned to Fae Magic. It presides in some of your prey and you can now detect the magic of fae.Primal: Not all monsters are unholy, others are born from the earth's power. You are attuned to this power, and can call upon the forces of the world to grant change, for greater or worse.
>>23845750Mind Whisper, all the way.
>>23845651Missed the cost for Fireball....On XP, I vote that we save it until we have more, since most things cost two XP to buy. The only thing that is immediately useful (rather than just nice to have) is Solid Marble....Which might be nice to have, if last night's werewolf is not too far from the norm of the monsters we face. Still, I would prefer to buy other things first. (Like enough to make use of the magic.)

You wing over to the steeple of the church, wary of the uncared for roof, not wanting to make any more holes in it, and grab your cloak and ungainly staff from your rooftop hiding spot, which may or may not be a good enough spot in the future. You take a moment to feel your form, using the power gained from the banshee to increase your solidarity. You won't break or shatter nearly as easily, yet there are bound to be monsters that challenge even this form..You notice that there is still wolf's blood upon your staff along with little chunks of brain matter from the part where you broke open the wolf's head. You feel a somewhat sick satisfaction after it had the nerve to break your wings.Wrapping yourself in the dirty cloth, you take flight to patrol the perimeter of the town. You see that the villagers have somewhat of a palisade. built around the town, along with sensing several humans walking along the perimeter, and especially so at the breach in the wall where the wolves came in. It seems that the werewolf must have busted through it or something... It's certainly not in the best shape and the patch job has left that part looking much flimsier. You hear howling, yet they are quite distant. You sense some of the guards seem more nervous than usual.> Head to the lake near the town.> Visit Molly.> Explore the town upon the streets.> Eavesdrop on the guards.> Other
Your updated tree.
Stone Mason, can you confirm where our perch is?I got the impression we were on some sort of crenelation or ledge above the ground on the church wall.
>>23846157> Eavesdrop on the guards.
>>23846181Your perch is a few feet over the church door. Your regular position in the perch is "Wings spread, and Open Arms" to welcome people into the building.
>>23846157> Head to the lake near the town.Make sure we don't have any sirens infesting it or something.
>>23846157>> Eavesdrop on the guards.
>>23846092Even if we are located on the ground, what can a little girl do for us, other than cleaning? She cannot forge weapons, nor armor. She cannot provide information, nor offer advice. The only thing she is capable of is slight maintenance of our form and grounds. She is but a child, she cannot even defend herself.
>>23846157>Head to the lake near the townYou've mentioned the lake a few times now, with no obvious reason to bring it up. I sense a plot hook.We are paroling the perimeter of the town. If we continue we will reach the lake anyway.
>>23846157> Eavesdrop on the guards. We can do this without being detected through use of magiks right? In any case i vote this.
>>23846253...Well, she could provide info. You know by telling us what villagers are talking about. Plus making sure we don't look like crap is a pretty big deal. I don't see how forging weapons or armor has anything to care taking. And what does being able to defend her self have to do with any thing? It would be true of anybody we have as caretaker. At least against monsters. Plus, who else could we get to do it? I am not seeing many other choices.
>>23846414Forging weapons and armor is incredibly important for us. Our caretaker is far more than just someone to clean us. They are our only link to the human world. They must be able to acquire supplies that we need, but cannot get on our own. Arms and armor being primary on that list--if our silver candlestick is potent, imagine what a silvered warhammer could do. (By the way OP, do we gain a bonus to blunt -weapons- or just pummeling people with our fists?) Second, -any- human could tell us what the villagers are talking about, a shopkeeper or service provider would be an even better option in that regard. Third, be patient. Once people are coming to our church, there will be plenty of candidates--even if there are none in the first day, there will be soon. We have only been awake for two days and one night.
You wing down to an open-ish area near the human guards, selecting an especially dark area and weaving the shadows to make it a touch darker. Your cloaked form is hidden in unnatural darkness.Creeping within range of a guard, you pick up his conversation with a fellow." ... howling, and those daamn bloody wolves... Almost lost my leg if it wasn't for Pastor Clegane.""Lost your leg? One of the muts got a nip at you? And you're on duty?""Pastor does the work of God, he does. Well, I s'pose we need more a' that with wolves break'n our palisade."A shout comes down from down the street," You two, stop jabberin'! Stay alert! Those wolves are still out there, and the wall's still busted! You look'n t' get yourselves killed?!"The voices you'd been listening to both go rigid and say," Yes Cap'n!" Their chatter stops.Well, what now?> Investigate the source of the howls.> Visit Molly.> Continue your patrol of the perimeter (1/4th done)> Check on the lake.> Other
>>23846490The more resilient you are, the less you need to worry about the backlash from using a weapon. So yes, you can hit harder, but the bonus would apply more to your fists.
>>23846512> Investigate the source of the howls.
>>23846512>> Continue your patrol of the perimeter
>>23846490Ah yes, and as far as defending herself goes, as the defender of this village, any intelligent monsters would want to strike at our heart first--that is, our caretaker. While no human could likely -defeat- them, at the very least, they could hold their ground long enough for us to arrive.>>23846512Pastor Clegane, eh? We should remember that name, he could be a candidate for caretaker--holy blessings would certainly help with our fights. As for current actions, patrol the broken area of the wall--it is the first priority, as the most obvious target.
>>23846512So Pastor Clegane is a healer then? OR maybe he does blood magic (he may be the owner of the book "Magic bound in blood" found in our little church)!>[X] Continue your patrol of the perimeter
>>23846608Knitting flesh sounds like blood magic to me.>Continue patrol of the perimeter
>>23846512>Continue your patrol of the perimeter I think we should finish our patrol first before we wander off to do anything else. Unless, y'know, we see an imminent threat or something obvious we need to deal with.Don't want to go chasing some stray muts when there was a lake monster creeping out of the water on the other side of town.
>>23846676>>23846608Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Besides, even if the man -is- using "Evil" magic, he's clearly using it for the good of the village. We ourselves are dark magic, remember?
>>23846608>>23846676Indeed, this sounds like something we should keen an ear our for.He may be a fellow protector, watching over our charges that could use our aid.OrHe could be something dangerous we need to put down.Continue to ears drop and gather info as we get the chance.
>>23846733Still should keep an eye on him. Hell, we should keep an eye on that soldier that got bitten just to be sure he doesn't turn werewolf.
>>23846784Wait he got bitten! I didn't really but much thought to that. We should probably check up on more victims and ask if the pastor know how to negate werewolfism.
>>23846733No one's saying he's a bad guy. He's still a pastor and could be an ally, but we should be careful around him.
With the guards back on attention, you decide to resume your patrol of the perimeter, slinking back to the open area to take off once more into the night, keeping the shadows with you.Flying along the perimeter of the palisade, you begin to see more of the town's layout. With the town center in the town's obvious center, you see that there's the burned church, across from there, something that looks akin to a school. The perimeter of the town has a road runing all the way around it made of sparse cobblestone offering some space to the palisade, and there are roads running from the Town square from the north, south, east, and west. It is all rather orderly for a settlement. As you pass along the Eastern edge of the town, you see the lake reflecting the moonlight, a mist hovering just above the spray of the water. There is indeed a dock nearby with several apparent fishing boats tied up along with other boats that seem a bit more... festive?> Continue Patrol.> Investigate Lake.> Visit Molly.> Check the festive boats.> Other
>>23846933>>[X] Continue Patrol. We should ascertain the health of the walls of the town, as well as the town itself, before we venture out.

>>23846933>[X] Check the festive boats.
>The palisade built around the town is certainly not in the best shape and the patch job has left that part looking much flimsier. As a protector and guardian, I think we should do something about this if we can.I doubt we're going to have wall to wall monsters /every/ night. Maybe on slow nights we could spend a few hours cutting logs and depositing them near the palisade. We're stronger than human, we need no rest. Transporting a few logs should be easy.We could make it like a long term project. Something to help with over time. Also, I'd like to get the townspeople used to the idea they have a benefactor or 'Guardian Angel'.Showing that someone is helping them in the night anonymously might let them get used to the idea so if/when someone learns about us, they won't panic and smash us during the day.
>>23846933Check the docks. If nothing, continue patrol.
Picking up a pizza, back in like 10.
>>23847019>Also, I'd like to get the townspeople used to the idea they have a benefactor or 'Guardian Angel'.Showing that someone is helping them in the night anonymously might let them get used to the idea so if/when someone learns about us, they won't panic and smash us during the day.Hell no. We are an ally of the shadows, and in the shadows we shall remain.
>>23847115I never said to reveal ourself to anyone.If/when someone does discover us, it'll be out of our control. If our discovery takes them by surprise there's a very good chance of them just smashing us during the day.I want them to say "Oh, that's who's been helping our town all these months! I had no idea." Instead of "Ah, it's a demon statue! It's a monster, kill it before is kills us!"
Rolled 63>>23847241I agree with this.
>>23847241I think you're overestimating the intelligence of the townspeople."IT'S A MONSTER PRETENDING TO BE AN ANGEL! IT'S HERETICAL AND EVIL! KILL IT!"
Hey OP, are all gargoyles "Gargoyles" or are some simply statues?
>>23847348This. Which is why Molly is potentially pretty valuable as a caretaker since she can ward off suspicion ("Oh, I was polishing the Angel the otherday, that's why he's so shiny" or "no I do not feel a chill and the need to escape his gaze, are you ok?"). We are most vulnerable to the townsfolk of all threats and we can't defend ourself during the day.
>>23847413Just statues. I'm pretty sure we look like the generic angels like the weeping angels
>>23847443"Shut up little girl, adults are talking."
>>23847413There are decoys around the town.People may in fact be okay with you if you drop things like what >>23847019 said...But the real danger lies in that some of the townspeople may in fact be monsters, others may be threatened by you. It's their superstition that smashing a gargoyle is "bad luck" from what's happened previously, so a monster in disguise won't likely smash every gargoyle in town for fear of exposure.
>>23847476Well it's not like we're exactly hard to find if they know there's a gargoyle protecting the town
>>23847501It's the basis of which gargoyle.Monsters may have their own superstitions as well, not knowing all gargoyles are capable of. Some are capable of moving in the sun after all.
>>23847538...And can we get that ability?
>>23847557Of course, in time.
>>23847538We're going to have to kill a priest for that aren't we?
>>23847348That's not a counter argument. As things stand now, the most likely outcome of people discovering us is >"IT'S A MONSTER PRETENDING TO BE AN ANGEL! IT'S HERETICAL AND EVIL! KILL IT!"Which is why I think we should do something to mitigate this. If it doesn't work as well as I'd like then we've lost nothing. But we have the potential to gain much. Also, we're a guardian. I think we should do something to improve our towns defences any way. The fact that it might get them used to us, and potentially save us some day, is just a side benefit.
You swoop down upon a lifeless area near the docks and make your way to the festive looking ships by foot. Closer, you see that the boats seem to have names on them, such as "Mystical Murgo's Oddities," and "Swords of the Stranger." If we help, we will help without exposing ourself. Anything else is just going to lead to misery.> Fly out to examine the mists of the lake.Strange ships? Mysterious mist? That's not a good combination.
>>23847640>The mist upon the water in the center of the lake seems a bit suspicious as you examine the boats. If something is setting off our spidy-senses we should look into it before continuing our patrol.[x]Have a closer look at the boats then fly out to examine the mists of the lake.
>>23847690>We're NOT going to swoop down "Hey guys look at me! I'm your silent protector in the night! Yay me!"You haven't actually paid attention to anything I've written have you.
If we get the ability to move around during the day we might want to pick up a mask made of skin to wear. And some gloves. They would help blend in quite a bit if we walk around in big floppy robes.
>>23847749You want everyone to know that someone is helping them. They may be stupid, but they aren't so stupid as to be unable to put two and two together. >>23847797There probably a higher level stone-to-flesh spell we can learn for infiltration missions.
>>23847850It's not a horrible idea. A horrible idea would be to dig up Mollie's dead mom and then tie strings to the limbs and make it dance outside her window at night right after she asks God to bring her mommy back. But I wouldn't suggest that. That's just weird.

>>23847929Let's be honest here, you probably would suggest it if it both was funny to you and could conceivably work in whatever context you we suggesting it. As for the human-flesh mask idea, wait till we can make it look realistic and preserve the mask for long term use (a rotting face won't help us and there are only so many townsfolk), then let's talk.
With the waters of the lake holding that strange mist, you find that it would indeed be prudent to check it out after you investigate the ships before you more thoroughly. You wing onto "Swords of the Stranger" and sense that there are a few life sources below the deck.Around on the ship, you find barrels, among other things. Heading down into the ship, avoiding the sleeping lives, you find that the cargo hold has a variety of weapons.Swords, spears with wide blades at the end, staves not unlike your own with silver tips. Your basic knowledge allows you to piece together that this is likely a merchant's ship. You could further examine the ship's wares, possibly taking one of these exotic weapons, or you could move onto your investigation of the lake.> Examine the hold for weaponry.> Continue on to the mist of the lake.> Leave and examine the other ship.> Other.

Rolled 83>>23847989See, THIS is a good idea. Don't let anyone know about us, that's stupid. No, let nice little things happen, things that make the villagers' lives easier. They'll grow to believe they have someone or something watching out for them, caring for them. And when the time comes when we are revealed, they will look back on all the good things that happened to them, and they will say 'if that was you, then we have nothing to fear'.
>>23848057Find the merchant. For some reason, I think they will be used to...supernatural customers. Silvered weaponry..strange mist..and something about the names of the ships seems oddly...I don't know. It just seems like they wouldn't be fazed by us.
>>23848057[x]examine the other ship then continue on to the mist of the lake. Also, don't take any weapons. We are the towns guardian, not a thief.
>>23848098Something a little quicker would be better, though if we can handle it without any slowness i guess it would work
Rolled 50>>23848057Do we still have our staff? If so, just head on out to the mist. If not, pilfer one from the hold veeery sneakily, THEN head out to the mist.
>>23848142You still have your candle-staff... Though it's pretty much the equivalent of "Stick" to a gargoyle.
>>23848057> Examine the hold for weaponry.Time to upgrade!
>>23848175How big are we?I assumed something human size.
>>23848057>>23848098We could empty one of the barrels, stuff as much silver in it as we can, then tie a rope around it and toss it over. Fly away towing the rope and obtain a big stash. Then melt it all down eventually and coat our arms with silver veins.
Rolled 8>>23848175But it's *our* staff. ...ok, so maybe we should upgrade to a proper weapon. I'm liking the silver tipped staff still. Big ass sword, axe, spear, etcetera, just don't fit the 'protector' image as well as a staff.
Rolled 90>>23848215...no. See, if we steal a bunch of shit, the village will inevitably get blamed. One weapon (such as a silver tipped staff!) dissapearing could be written off. A big barrel and a tonne of silver going missing could not.

>>23848142>>23848188>>23848215[x]Vote against stealing anything. It doesn't seem like a very guardian thing to do. We protect the town from such threats.
>>23848279Question is: Do the ends justify the means? These are merchant ships at that. Likely, they will be gone the next night.
Rolled 78>>23848279We must balance pragmatism with honor. Stealing a single staff now so we can defend our village better? I'm willing to take the wound to our honor and pride.
>>23848057[X] Examine the hold for weaponry. It'll be one weapon we're taking for a good cause.

>>23848303Stealing from merchant ships could be a bad idea, if the merchants think the village is overrun with thieves, then they will be less inclined to do business here, which in turn will make the locals suffer.Stealing would cause problems.
>>23848327We could shift the blame to one of the crew members if he were to suddenly 'disappear' along with a large stash of silver.
Rolled 67>>23848327I noted that here: >>23848248 One weapon (staff) could be written off as just a little miscalculation. Not like we're stealing something instantly noticable, like a dozen swords and twenty spears.
>>23848347Fuck of Snapple, your ideas are terrible in every quest you infest.
I still think we should try to negotiate with the merchant. If it doesn't work...well, we can grab a weapon for the greater good.
>>23848303>Do the ends justify the means? If there was a pressing threat or need, I'd say take it. Just taking something because we want to upgrade doesn't sound that great. Also, our candle staff is a 5/6 ft iron rod. It''s not exactly ineffective as a weapon. We could kill a man with a single swing. It was enough to bludgeon and disembowel a werewolf.
>>23848370We don't have to kill him. We could just keep him tied up in the church basement and use him for monster bait.Or if taking care of him is too much help he would be an excellent source of New Face.
>>23848417I say the ends do justify the means. Our candlestick works for now, but it's a -candlestick-. Sure, it's iron, and durable, but it -will- break eventually, and if that happens at the wrong time, we're dead.Having a real weapon is an advantage that we can't pass up.

>>23848584> A strange curved sword. It seems to have silver markings engrave into it, however the rest is steel...CURVED SWORDS
>>23848617This also ask about our creator
Rolled 50>>23848584Staff, obviously. Also, ask about the other ship.
>>23848584The daggers would fit nicely with our stealthiness.>>23848609Heh. You guys act like I'm Lucifer or something. Relax a bit man.
>>23848617I'll vote for this as well.
>>23848646What do you ask about "ahem" him?
>>23848584I FUCKING TOLD YOU GUYS HE WOULD KNOW WHO WE WERE.Anyway, the daggers seem..seem WHAT?leaning towards the sword, though. the engraving piques my interest.
>>23848663Ask him who our creator is, what he is, what was the form of payment he got from our maker, if he can give us any details on him and why he left us.Also ask the weird dude what he is.

Rolled 62>>23848725For our stealth, yes, but not the image of an angelic protector. Rod and staff and all that, the silver staff just fits.
>>23848723Skilled enough to dance? Wushu is a -performance- art, not a combat art.
>>23848723skip to 1:00
>>23848584The staff looks good. The sword is probably just nicely decorated, though it might be magical. The warhammer looks mighty, but it's iron only, no silver which could maybe be more effective versus certain creatures such as werewolves. The daggers look pretty good, but they're short ranged.I'm picking the staff and asking about the other ship
>>23848740fuck image, function beats form every time.
>>23848584"Are all of these suitable for fighting the monsters? These will all do the most damage possible?"
Rolled 52>>23848749However in this case, image does matter. Hell, the image made by Marble, Humanoid, and Wings actually gave us a trait as noted earlier, Angelic Savior. Adding to it can only do us good.
>>23848812Who are you, mere mortal, to dictate what weapons a soldier of God should wield?
Rolled 20>>23848827I'm a doctor, obviously.
>>23848584Stone mason, how big are we and are these weapons the right scale for us?You said earlier that our candle staff looks more like a stick in our hands. If the weapons are the right size for us then he's probably telling the truth. If the weapons are normal human scale then he's full of shit and probably something we need to kill.
>>23848741that is the only good video of staff fighting on youtube if you can find something better that would be awesome
>>23848853You are about 6ft. The candle-staff is 4ft tall. And it's more like a stick in that it is in its usefulness. It dispatched the werewolf with difficulty and luck. It's more of an improvised weapon and it's fairly hard to wield as such, even for a gargoyle.
>>23848584Take the daggers. We strike from the shadows and therefore must strike swiftly
>>23848912I concur. These weapons are here for us.
The staff sounds like the best option.
>>23848584>take what you need from my shipLets just take 'em all.
Staff. Range, weight, silver, and it makes us seem less dangerous.
>>23849059Daggers. Quick, stealthy, silver, and it makes us more effective. The plan is NOT to be seen, anon.
You look to the daggers that you had just been examining and carefully place them back into their proper case."Not savage like so many..""I am not a savage.""You have a good maker, I'd expect that you be so noble, Gargoyle."You focus on the "man" intently with your life detection, still, you feel nothing from him,"What are you?""I should ask the same of you... Yet to humor you, as it may be... I am a stranger," He smiles, showing moon-white teeth."Who is my master? What is he, or she like?""Your maker... Well.. By day he works as a baker, by night, he makes creatures such as yourself.. He doesn't eat meat, and he lives alone.""Why did he leave me?""Leave you? Gargoyle, you are made by comission of nobility. All towns have statues, and at least one being a gargoyle... You should already know why this is so..""Very well, what of this other ship?" you growl out with your voice. Your irritance got the best of you and you hear it echo with something between god and demon.. It surprises you for a moment. The man takes no heed of your startled form,"The other ship... It's just the wares of a conman. He sells various "magical" trinkets to the townsfolk not superstitious enough, yet still stupid enough to fall for it... A mirror that makes you beautiful when you look into it, but only in the dark, phah!" the man spits upon his own ship,"Now, I know you haven't got all night, and I'm leaving as soon as I wake my crew up from their... spell. Take what you require and leave."You decide that your best option is the silver staff, however you catch the glimmer of black further in the hold."What... is back there?""Other weapons... Obsidian, onyx, sorts of materials for 'goyles like yourself that get fond of magic. In this world, man fights fire with fire after all." The man chuckles at something, likely only he would understand. Is the silver staff good enough, or do you want something.. More dangerous?> Delve deeper into the hold.> Take the staff
>>23848584Ooooh, so happy I got back home in time to catch up with this!I vote for the daggers. Like someone else said, it's hard to be stealthy with a fucking staff, even if we're going for the "Angel" image. It's not like the townsfolk will see our fucking weapons anyway.
>>23849085Will this ship appear again? If not, let's take the obsidian stuff. We already have the candlestick, even if it's not the best weapon.
>>23849085...just take the staff.
>>23849085Let's not rush into to first thing we see, look at the other choices.>daggers>savageWay to decide we're never taking them for us, OP.
>>23849085> Delve deeper into the hold.Look around in the back. See if there's any magicy thing that looks nice.If not grab the staff on our way back out.
>>23848347That is a singularly terrible idea.
>>23849085Okay, if he has something more "dangerous", maybe ask about that. If not, then the daggers just seem like they would work better with our alignment with the shadows.I don't get the rest of you. What is with this raging boner for a staff?
Lets just take the staff won't we get a bonus for blunt
>>23849152It was the way you put them back into the case.
>>23849183OP said that the blunt bonus only really applies to our fists. >>23846553>>23849176The staff boner is becausse everyone wants to be an angel, despite the fact that every single depiction of an angel at war shows them using a (flaming) sword. Staves are the tools of medics, people. We're not a doctor, we're a warrior.
>>23849085[x]Delve deeper into the holdFor now I still like the staff but have a look at what else he has. Also, ask him about that mist on the lake that trigged our spidy-senses.Anything to so with him, or something we need to look at?
>>23849234>[X] Delve deeper into the hold.Examine our options before making a decision.
>>23849085Let's take a peek in the back. We can still come back to the other weapons. (Currently, I'm in favor of the daggers.)
>>23849234I'd take a warrior who knew how to use a staff over one who used a sword any day.
>>23849276We're stealthy. We need something light and quick. Not a god damned staff.
>>23849276The main point of my argument is that they want the staff for the image of an angel. Angels don't use staves. They use the flaming sword of God.But since we're a stealthy motherfucker, I'm leaning towards the daggers. Those, combined with our new regen powers, will make us an excellent guerrilla fighter.
>>23849316Can we take both?
>>23849316You've convinced me. I'm leaning toward the daggers over the staff. This may all be a moot point, there might be something way better in the back, but if not, I'll vote for the daggers.
>>23849382Maybe. We might be able to ask him to let us have two selections, but I get the impression that he'll only let us take one item with us.
>>23849154Changing grab staff to grab daggers on the way out if we don't find anything cool in the back.
>>23849085 [x]Delve deeper into the hold.
On a related note. Ask if he has a sheath/brace for the weapons. We want to be able to go hands free without dropping our gear. Also, later, once we've finished our patrol. We need to find a good hiding place to store our stuff. We can't hold it as we sleep and we can't just leave it lying around all day.
>>23849085Questing with other fa/tg/uys is kind of annoying. At least in the way you're romanticizing being an angel. The daggers should have been a no-brainer. Stop being dumb fucks.
You delve deeper into the hold..."Be careful of the stock back there... Such materials... Hmm.. No, I won't say anything."You turn back irritated, "What?" Your voice rumbles out like the monster you really are."Th' materials that composes that stock... They ca' be dangerous. They ten' to retain magic and amplify the effects. You will need t' keep man and demon away from such things if you chose 'em... as for silver and iron... Th' weap'ns are effective against demons and Fae respectively... However, if you choose t' use magics of respective type, such a weapon will... Disrupt it.. Yes... Make it fizzle or someth'n." The man shrugs."As it is, I'll allow you to take one piece. I'll be back within a week, these sails move swiftly... heh... I'll take the corpses a' beasties you kill an' other odd-things as payment in th' future."You look at the "black" selection...> A staff of Onyx and Obsidian with a pentagram star on the tip, there lies a garnet in the center that radiates with power at your touch. It seems to react with the magic forces inside of you...> There are twin daggers, ritualistically shaped like crescent moons with blades that shed an inky darkness. The grip seems to be made of bone.> A greatsword hangs upon the wall. The blade seems to have a copper core along with a silver edging, obsidian rests in the pommel.> A foreign weapon hangs upon a nail in the hold. Two round, bladed disks. THey seem to have copper wire for a grip, and strange silver-like metal."Those there are chakrams. Foreigners use 'em. If y' charge 'em, they'll return af'er bein' thrown. Th' metal there is called Titanium. Won' hinder any magic. But doesn't help it either. Copper's good for it though.>What'll it be?
>>23849606[X] A staff of Onyx and Obsidian with a pentagram star on the tip, there lies a garnet in the center that radiates with power at your touch. It seems to react with the magic forces inside of you...It's reacting with our magic, that's pretty damn useful.Though I don't object to the daggers as they seem to be associated with darkness which is something we do.
>>23849606Get the fuck off this ship.Now.
>>23849606>> There are twin daggers, ritualistically shaped like crescent moons with blades that shed an inky darkness. The grip seems to be made of bone.Oh god yes. Let's get these.
>>23849657Gonna go ahead and say that the greatsword is my second choice behind the daggers.
>>23849606Take the silver daggers.I don't trust this stuff. It's affecting us.
>>23849642Uuum, why...?>>23849606Daggers, please.
>>23849688I agree, let's stay with the normal stuff.
>>23849688Ah. Then I change my vote from the magical daggers to the regular ones. The merchant will be back in a week. We can deal by then, right?
>>23849701Because this stuff is fucking with our head. We're getting affected with it somehow. Maybe it's the merchant, maybe it's the wares, either way, something is bad juju here.
>>23849606>Iron ans silver weapons are effective but will nurf magic. Those shadowy daggers seem like a good fit, ask about them. Also, ask about the sword. Copper and silver are soft metals, shit for swords, and silver nerfs magic. What's up with that?
I liked the staff because it has a long reach, and being silver tipped doesn't hurt.On the other hand, that greatsword looks sexy as fuck. Screw being stealthy, get that instead
>>23849752nonono, Iron weapons will hurt Fae more, and disrupt Fae magic. Silver weapons hurt Demons more, and disrupt Demon magic.
>>23849764>Screw the basis of our buildhow about no?
>>23849777Oh, right. We still need to ask if it's enchanted to make the metal stronger. A greatsword made of soft metal is just shit.
>Onyx/obsidian Staff w/ garnet>Crescent Daggers Bone/Unknown>Greatsword Copper/Silver>Chakrams Copper/Titanium>Silver Bo-staff>steel Katana w/ silver engravings>Silver/iron daggers>Iron WarhammerPlease pick from here with link to post. Ya'll got a lot of choices. Hard to keep track.
>>23849876SIlver daggers. Bonus against demons AND fae, AND no creepy evil magic that fucks with our voice modulator.
>>23849876>>Silver/iron daggersSeems like our best bet. If we want corrupted items, we can get them next week.
>>23849876Silver/iron daggersNo sense trying to use shit we don't understand yet.
>spend an entire thread bickering over weapons questLets take the silver daggers as they fit our build and continue our patrol before the town burns down.
>>23849876>>Crescent Daggers Bone/Unknown
>>23849876I want to ask about the Crescent Daggers Bone/Unknown.If they don't sound good once we know what they do then I vote for Silver/iron daggers
>>23849876>Bone/Unknown DaggersAsk him about them if possible.
>>23849876silver/iron daggersThe risk of cursed weapons aside, we probably wouldn't be able to use the magical shit much anyway, we don't have the requisites yet.
>>23849876OP can we hurry up and use the silver and iron daggers so we can gtfo and kill those wolves already?
>>23849876Silver and iron daggers. They're the best fit for our character insofar and I don't trust the crescent ones ones at all. There's something off about the things.
>>23850058Seconding this. Let's take the daggers for the silver/iron bonus, and get to guardianing.
"What's the case with these... Curved daggers."The man simply shrugs," I don't know. Do I need to know of all the weapons I trade with gargoyles?""You knew of the chakrams.""I was curious about them. The curved blades? Bah, I've seen plenty of those. Bladed rings? It's a new one."The answer wasn't good enough for you, and you decide to take up the silver/iron daggers. They are small and swift, you'll be able to strike from the shadows more effectively now..."Well, the shop is closed gargoyle.""What?""I said... The shop... Is closed."The stranger tips his hat to you, and the ship is gone, you find yourself standing upon the dock... What... a strange occurence. You feel as though you had spent quite a while in that ship, though with a glance, you see that the moon hasn't moved at all.. You have your new daggers, and your candle-staff is lying on the docks with appropriate sheathes lying next to it.There's a note that says," Till next time. Don't forget to hide them by dawn. -The Stranger."What a... strange man... You recollect that you sensed no life from him, just what is he?With the venture of the ship now in the... not too distant past... You fly out over the lake to investigate the mist upon the waters. You see various stones standing in the middle of the lake, and feel the presence of life near them...Heading down closer to check it out, you see that there is a human woman sitting among the rocks. Half-naked, she's combing her hair and gazing into a mirror...> Swoop down and attack her!> Land on a nearby rock and speak (Write in)> Ignore the woman, return to the town.> (Other)
>>23850168Maybe that's the mirror that makes you beautiful when you look at it in complete darkness.Wait in the shadows and observe for a bit, move on if the situation doesn't change.
>>23850168>gazing into a mirror...>gazing into a mirror...>gazing into a mirror...Immediately turn around, go to the other boat, take the magic mirror that makes people think they look beautiful at night, and use it to win her over and squeeze everything we can out of her, information and treasures both.
>>23850168Yes, 'Human', I totally believe that. Bitch is probably a Siren or something like that and unlikely to be friendly.Talking removes the element of surprise, but I'm not quite sure about instantly removing her head.Start by observing her closer and seeing if she does anything different.
>>23850168>[x] (Other)Hit her with a pebble and see if she starts roaring or some shit.
>>23850168Almost certainly a faekind. Let's talk to her first and see if she is sane, then get to the choppy if things go south. While she's probably not human, there's always a chance and I would prefer not to kill one of ours by accident.
>>23850168Observe, for a moment. We still have howls to check on.
>>23850265No more talking first. We learned our lesson last night. We observe, and then decide whether to talk or attack.
>>23850168Try to get a closer look.
>>23850168[x]Land on a nearby rock and speak (Write in)"I am the guardian of this place. Who and what are you? I mean no ill will but it is my duty to challenge all 'strangers' within my territory. Please state your intentions."
>>23850288Yeah, we're not god damned angels, so it would be best if we weren't playing like one. Just observe and if she's just human, move ooooon I wanted something to actually happen today.
>>23850168Observe for a while.
>>23850319We are god damned gargoyles. Why are you playing this character like an actual angel I do not understand. We're not messengers of God, we're creepy stone made in the shape to resemble a man that can talk. And we're sneaking up on a woman looking at a mirror in the dark. Stop being obnoxious.
>>23850288Yeah, no harm in watching for a bit. Assuming she hasn't already seen us, cloak ourself in shadow and just watch for a minute. Then decide to talk or or not.
You fly lower and wrap the dark of the night about your form to conceal yourself as you get a better look at her.You see through the mist that she's not entirely human, in possession of a fish-like tail. Otherwise, she looks perfectly human to you.She perks up, seemingly aware of your presence. "Hello? Is anyone out there?"You do not reply, yet you seem to have been found out. You are dumbfounded until you notice that the flap of your wings and ripple of the cloth on your body makes quite the noise."I hear you, you know." The half-woman looks about before seeming to grow nervous.> Attack the monster!> Speak.> Say nothing.> Leave.> Other
>>23850379[X] Say nothing.Say nothing, stay hidden, she's bluffing.
>>23850379Seems sentient, so speak. No idea what to say though.
>>23850387Speak. "Who are you, mermaid, and why are you on this shore?"
>>23850387...Yeah. I bet.>>23850379"What is your purpose here? Do you mean this village harm?"
>>23850362>We are god damned gargoylesYes, we are a gargoyle. Guardian of this town. Hence: "I am the guardian of this place">We're not messengers of God,I asked who/what she was and what her intentions are.Mind explaining where you got the messenger of god thing?
>>23850379First, let her know that you mean no harm, and that you were just nervous because of the supernatural disturbances the previous night. Ask her why she's here, what she's doing, and if she's evil. Or something.
>>23850396Seconding. Ask her why she's here.
>>23850379>OtherSay nothing. When she addresses us again begin whistling A Hunting We Will Go
>>23850414It just feels like you guys are playing up the Angel angle a little too much. We don't need to tell everyone our life story. We built a subtle character. There's no reason to announce our full title to a strange creature, with a motive we don't know yet.
>>23850434I swear you must be pulling my leg, good sir!

>>23850469This. Let good manners prevail.
>>23850469>"I'm the guardian of this place. Are you a threat?">"Um. Nooooo*upwards inflection*?"
You land on one of the stones, gripping tightly with one of your marble hands, to silence the flapping of your wings. You maintain your shroud of shadow."Who are you. Why are you here?"The woman seems startled by the unearthly sound of your voice, she tilts her head in your direction,"Oh, hello there! I'm just, well, you see, I'm fixing my hair. Blasted moss often gets innit during summers like these you know... Or don't you?""Who are you?""Ah, I didn't very much reply to that did I..." She laughs nervously,"I'm a mermaid, name's Genevieve, you can umm.. Call me Genn, uhh, Mr. Shadow?"The woman sniffs the air," Hey, you've got iron on you? Don't much like iron, don't come near me with that, ok? What do y' want?"She seems simple enough.. and it's not like she's attacking the village.> Speak.(Write in)> Leave.> Attack.> Other
>>23850507I think we can detect sarcasm. Honestly, she doesn't seem like a threat.
>>23850446Just being some random stone monster, questioning her out of nowhere seems like it would be counter productive.Just saying we are a guardian and we want to make sure she isn't a threat is perfectly sensible. It's effectively the same as a plane-cloths officer displaying his badge and clearly stating he's a cop. It's so you don't get confused or defensive when some random dick starts asking questions and giving your orders.
>>23850545"You haven't noticed anything strange around here, have you? I've heard reports of howling in the area."

>>23850550Ah, that's true. My mistake.>>23850568This. Or we can do >>23850564 and make it Cops: Gargoyle edition. And the mist. Ask her if it's safe/not deadly or whatever.I feel like we should REALLY get back to the village now, especially with that howling earlier. Remember what happened last night when we wasted time with Molly?
>>23850545>[x]Speak.(Write in)Just tell her we're the guardian of this place.Warn her that we mean her no ill will but if she threatens our charges we will stop her.Warn her that if her kind prey on humans she had best leave now. If she does not, then she is free to stay. I guess we'd even protect her if she lives in our territory.
Was iron effective against fae or demons? If it was demons, rip and tearIf it was fae, she may just be mischeviousTell her to sing on something ships won't sink on when they crash into them.
>>23850630Iron is good vs fae. silver is for demons
>>23850630Iron is for Fae.Depending on this setting, it may also be for ghosts and other ethereal types.

I've heard reports of howling.. and this mist..."You hear an echoing howl from across the lake, opposite of the town.Genn looks in the direction of the howl," Well, I suppose I've heard howling.. The mist? Well, I made it. Can't have mortals seeing me now can I... You're no mortal though, right? So.. I guess it's ok.""How long do you plan to stay? What is your intent?""Stay? Why, I live in this lake. At the bottom with my mother, father, sister, and brother. Whyever would I leave? It's safe from the monsters in the sea you know.. >>23850693> Leave her alone, investigate the howls across the lake.
>>23850693>[x]Leave her alone, investigate the howls across the lake.I think it's time to move on. Just tell her we are the new guardian of this place. We protect this town from monsters and we'll protect her family too.Finish our patrol and go hunt some wolves.
>>23850693Just get out. The enemy isn't here

In the future I may have questions for you, you shall answer them to the best of your ability."You open your wings."Farewell."And take flight across the lake. Genn doesn't call out to you or even wave you goodbye, she simply returns to what she had been doing before. You soon make it to the other side of the lake, feeling the presence of wild, feral life throughout the trees. You aren't in your own territory anymore...Despite your stealth, the flap of your wings causes the howls from before to end, only to be replaced by a low growl by much of the forest. >>23850818Wolfpelts for all, hm?
>>23850795[x]Kill a few wolves.Drop the bodies near the town gate or something. The meat and pelts will probably do some good.Continue our patrol. Make sure to remain unseen through it all.
>>23850795continue. not sure what killing would do to them. i mean, you already got their pappy. just leave the dears alone.
>>23850838Although today wolves are no threat to people, in medieval times wolf populations were much greater and could pose a real threat. No doubt our territory contains farms that feed the town. The wolves could be a big problem to their livestock. Also, if a new werewolf turns up in a month or two, I'd prefer if he didn't have a ready made army lurking in the woods around our town.
As much as you'd love to slaughter the mongrels for their insult to your charges the previous night, you brazenly land for a moment, walking within range of the muts. One especially brave one leaps at you.By your grace, you allow it to bite down on your solid marble, feeling its teeth futiley scratch the surface, only for your body to mend the light damage withing moments. As the wolf seeks to disengage, you grab the thing by its scruff and plunge your arm into its mouth, tearing out its insides as you pull back. You regard the other wolves coldly as they back away from you further, whining in fear. No, they will bot leave so easily. You forgo using your daggers for now, and grip your candle-staff as you smash the head of another that's begun to flee. The rest vanish quickly enough. They don't seem to be interested in challenging you. Here lies the corpses of two wolves. You could head back to the town with them, or you could leave the carcasses to rot.> Continue on, leave the bodies.> Return to town with the bodies.> Return to town, leave the bodies.> Other.
>>23850972[X] Continue on, leave the bodies.
>>23850972>[x] Return to town with the bodies.Remain unseen and drop them near the gate or something.Continue our patrol.
>>23850972>drop the bodies off at the townThe howling has been investigated. Let's see about helping out with the wall, hmm?
>>23850972 FMLNo, they will not leave so easily.*
>>23851016I think we should finish our patrol of the town first. But after that's done do you want to gather some logs or something?Maybe find a tool shed or check the work site at the palisade for an axe and some rope.Fly deep enough into the woods for the trees to swallow the sounds of our work and chop some logs. Tie them up and drag them back. Pile them somewhere near the palisade.
>>23851015what do you think peoples reactions are going to be when they find 2 wolves, 1 with its insides riped out through its mouth and the other with its head caved in. I doubt it would be joy, and someones going to haveto clean that shit up after us. I think they would much prefer not having what would bee seen almost as a threat or warning that something far more powerful has its eye on the town. Just sayin.> Continue on, leave the bodies.
>>23850972>you grab the thing by its scruff and plunge your arm into its mouth, tearing out its insides as you pull backWhen we do stuff like this in the future, it might be best id we were a bit less 'monstrous' in our kills.I want people to say "Who could have killed these wolves for us?"Not"WHAT COULD DO THAT TO AN ANIMAL!? What ever it was left the remains here... I think it's a warning."In the future just use a blade.
>>23851177second. the town is safe for now, at least from the wolves.
>>23851177This. The way we dealt with the wolves was a little too...gratuitous to merit dropping them off somewhere where they would be found.
>>23851177>>23851189The one that just got clubbed to death should be fine. But if the other one is all inside out... Just leave that one.If it's not to bad then fine, but we don't want to freak people out.
>>23851189Inherent nature of gargoyles is indeed that of a monster. Wonder what could have sparked that behavior? As a warning coming from a monster, it's not like they'd trace it to the gargoyle. They could be rattled, however they've already been attacked by wolves... Wolves with fire...
With the howling having been investigated, you have found no trace of a major threat, such as another werewolf. The number of wolves east of the town does concern you some, however they should know of your might by now...Gripping the crushed skull-wolf by the scruff, you take flight back to your territory. You make well enough time over the lake, and glance down at the mist to see Genn is still there, doing something else in front of her mirror now. She doesn't look up at your passing.Back at the docks, you circle around north and drop off the wolf with the crushed head.Only now, you notice how covered in wolf's blood you've become..Patrolling around the northern part of your town, you notice that most of the people are sleeping, even the Guards. You sense something... strange in the air... What could it be?> Visit Molly and her Father.> Check on the guards.Nothing.> Wash yourself off.> Go back to your church.> Check on the burned church.
>>23851234Do the souls we absorb affect us that much? Unless we learn to control ourselves, soul siphon (is that what it's called?) might do more harm than good in some cases enyaque attempt
>>23851234Fuck, is this from the werewolf spirit we sucked out? God dammit.
>>23851265Worst case scenario, some being has lulled the guards to sleep with some spell.Far more likely is that they suck at guarding. Check on them and see if you can wake them up.
>>23851265Let's check on the guards. I'm not expecting them to be fully competent, but I would hope that at least one of them would be awake to patrol. If we don't find anything obviously relevant there, let's take a closer look at the ruins of the burned church.
>>23851265Worst case scenario, something has lulled the guards to sleep with a spell.Far more likely is that they just suck at guarding. Check on them and se if you can wake them up with some noise or something
>>23851265>>[x] Check on the guards.Sleep spell maybe? Start the search there. This is more important for now but later we need to wash the blood off. A blood covered statue on the front of the church will raise questions.
>>23851321>>23851294wtf double post
>>23851294>Far more likely is that they suck at guarding.Considering the shit that happened last night and how on edge they were earlier. Also, the constant howling...I'm leaning towards sleep spell.
>>23851359thisI second check on the guards (is there any way we can clean ourselves off and THEN check?)
>>23851265> Check on the guards.
>>23851370Clean ourselves off, then check if possible.
You fly over to the lake and wash the blood off, most of it comes off, yet it seems that some of it has dried upon you and has become rather... stuck... splatters of wolf-blood stain your marble body a very slight pink. You frown at this, you have scrubbed much with your cloth, and have made little way of progress in the smudges...Donning your soaked cloak after you leave the shallows with some difficulty, you take flight once more to check on the guards iof your village. One should not sleep on duty. You do not, and neither should they. After landing far enough to not be seen, you move through the shadows with your wet cloak, making some sopping noises, yet being well enough stealthy to not wake the men.You tap your candle-staff against a wall, making a sharp tinging sound. The man you are observing does not awake. You do not have the sense to track magic yet.> Watch them for a while longer, leave if they seem fine.> Check on Molly.> Check around the town.> Investigate the burned church.> Other
>>23851481[X] Investigate the burned church.
>>23851481The fact that Molly keep coming up is giving me a bad feeling...check around the town?
>>23851481Well, hot damn. Let's do a pass over the ruins of the burned church and then check around the rest of the town to see if it's more than just the guards that are asleep.
huck a pebble at those lazy fucks.
You head over to the burned church, realizing that it's in the town square, it must be relevant to this bizarre happening in some way, right? As you fly for it, you detect a life that is awake and alert. Tracking them, you find that they reside in one of the houses of the town square. With a glance, you realize that the church in the town square faces East, Molly's house is three houses away from the fire that spread to the east, and the fire had stopped two houses short. Across from the church is the school, and near the school is this larger than usual house..One that you would suppose the mayor resides in... You sense a waking life in the church, and two in the mayor's house...> Enter the church.> Enter the Mayor's house.> Check on Molly.> Think little of it, return to your church.> Other
>>23851693Seconded.Throw a pebble at them. If that is enough to shrug off the magic it will tell us a lot.If that's not enough. That tells us something too.>>23851481>[x] Check around the townHead towards the town centre and the burned out church. We were able to sense 'something'. Maybe if we get to the centre of town we can work out which direction feels stronger.
>>23851720Let's check to see who could be awake in the ruined church first. The two in the mayor's house also seem suspicious but someone or something lurking in a burned down church in a town that is almost completely asleep is a different matter. Perhaps they're performing some ritual?
>>23851720>you detect a life that is awake and alertStart our search there.
>>23851720Check the church. If it's just a cat or something, check Molly.
You enter the church through a collapsed part of the roof, moving carefully to minimize the sounds, you are only so successful. You manage to get closer to the life source, and peer down through the rafters and at the altar. There, you see a man, a human, mumbling something as he kneels before the altar to the human's "God." Candles are lit around the man, vanquishing only a little shadow and you see that there is a substance around him that is laid out on a circle. The man wears robes, and holds his hands together with a knife.> Leave him alone, investigate the mayor's house.> Call out from the darkness. (Write in)> Attack him with your daggers.> Wait and watch.> Other
>>23851828Instead of attacking him can we, like, grab him and hold him up and question him? He can't do much with a knife against marble.Or listen. Meh, w/e. When can we get sense magic?
>>23851828>he kneels before the altar with a knifeIs there anything on this alter? Like a body or blood stains?Assuming he's not standing over a fresh corpse.>[x] Wait and watch. While unseen, wrapped in shadow.
>>23851828[x]Watch long enough to make sure nothing dangerous is happening. [x]Head for the Mayors house and check on the two there.
You focus your gaze upon the altar, seein only a cup. The man slowly stands, still chanting his words and draws up his sleeve, to reveal an arm of scars."So let this be, their blood of Christ. They shall be none wiser, and stronger for it."With a cut, the man allows blood to drain from his wrist and into the chalice upon the altar. The color of the blood turns from the thick murk that you have learned it to be, to something more akin to a crystal, such as the garnet that you laid your eyes upon on the Stranger's ship...Cloaked in your shadows, you continue to regard the man, you contemplate whether or not you should kill him... Confrontation without intent to kill would risk your identity after all...> Attack him.> Call out from the shadows. (Write in)> Leave, check the mayor's abode.> Continue to watch.> Other
>>23851974Just that priest that uses blood magic to heal. [x]Move on, quickly head for the Mayors house.
>>23852003the mayor is just fucking his wife leave him alone, this guy on the other hand is slicin himself up and pourin it into a chalace for some kind of magic thing going on, why would anyone think " everything seems to e in order here beter go check on the mayor now".Continue to watch.
>>23852034Magic spell that makes the town sleep and these people are awake.Yeah, nothing suspicious about that. The reason the priest is awake is probably because he has magic of his own. What's the mayors excuse? We know what he's doing. We seem to know why he's doing it. He's not hurting anyone right now and we know where to find him later if we want to.[x]Check on the mayors house.
You regard the priest for a few moments longer as he finally offers a bow to the ruby chalice before sealing the wound on his wrist with some kind of magic, likely not far from what animates you. From your dark spot in the rafters, you begin to depart, making a sound with the crunch of burnt wood.Your senses tell you that he lays his eyes upon you, despite the shadows that obscure you. Freezing up, as a mortal you may have felt a cold mortal sweat... Yet you do feel such a tension. You feel the eyes leave you as the man departs into the unburnt parts of the church. Since the man has left, you take wing and fly over the street to examine the mayor's house. Circling above, covered in shadow, you detect that the life signs are fairly low... They seem to be in the earth, below the first floor. A basement? Perhaps deeper than that...As you circle, the rest of the night is still. yet you can tell that the sky has indeed begun to lighten.> Enter the Mayor's house.> Check on Molly.> Return to your perch.> Examine other houses in the square.> Other
>>23852165[X] Return to your perch. We don't want to get caught out in the light, we'll solve the problem tomorrow night.
>>23852165>[x] Enter the Mayor's house.Stay wrapped in shadows and use our senses to avoid anyone seeing us.
>>23852165perch. we'll check tomorrow.
>>23852165quick check on molly then back to the perch
>>23852177>We don't want to get caught out in the light, we'll solve the problem tomorrow night. Is that an issue yet?Stone Mason, how much time do we have?We flew down to the docks. That bit in the boat didn't take any time because magic.Short conversation with a Mermaid.Flew to the woods and killed two wolves.A quick wash in the lake and we came here.Considering we've been flying, I doubt we've taken much time.
>>23852241The distances are rather large. specifically the lake, and there was much other involved..I also mentioned that it's summer.Days are long, nights are short.
>>23852310Do we have the time to investigate then?If we do, do.If we don't, head back before we get stuck away from our perch. Also, do we know anywhere we could get some white chalky stone?Grind it up in our marble hands and cover ourself in white powder. That should cover up the pink from the blood stains.
>>23852351There's a school. Would you like to look into it?You do have some distance from people, being situated a few feet above the church's door.
>>23852368If we don't have time time to investigate the mayors house but still not in a rush, then yes, check for something to use. Chalk, white limestone, lime from a building site. Ect.
Do we turn to stone if the sun rises while we are inside a building/underground?>Priest is secretly using blood magics to protect town>Priest possibly detected usThe priest would be an ideal caretaker.
You give the mayor's house a long, hard stare. This is definitely something suspicious that should be... "policed..." However, with the gentle lightning of the sky, it wouldn't exactly be prudent to get involved in something that may make you face the day. . .You decide to fly back to your perch, though not before checking up on molly, stepping up to her window.Peering through the glass, you see that she's asleep, tossing and turning in her bed.Seems as though she's having some kind of a bad dream, the poor dear. You wonder if she's perhaps dreaming of her mother again? With a slight sigh, odd enough for a stone body as yours, you get some distance and then take wing. The stains upon your arms begins to bother you as you find the time for dawn approaching. You make a small detour into the school-house, looking for some sort of material, any really to cover up the stain. You must look presentable after all, right? The doors are unlocked, being a public building, and you make way directly to the chalkboard, taking a good look at a piece, you snatch it and leave. Exiting without another trace. You take wing outside, heading to your Church on the hill to the west.Once there, near the palisade upon the bottom of the hill, you divide the piece of chalk into 5 pieces and crush one into dust, rubbing it over your stained body and covering up the blood. The sky begins to turn blue as you look around for a place to stash your weaponry. . . You find some likely locations.> A freshly dug grave.> The steeple, it worked before.>A panel under the floorboards,.> a panel in the roof.> The rafters.> Other
>>23852483[X] A panel under the floorboardsGod please don't let this be the end of the quest. This has got to be one of the top 10 quests ever made on /tg/ good sir. And I have been around for a long time.
>>23852517Funny you should say that. As covert guardian of the night, the MC is kind of walking on glass... While being made of marble...
>>23852517agreed, when can we expect you to show up again, stone mason? this is a very interesting quest
>>23852548The fact that you made this quest feel so organic while being made of marble is just awesome.>>23852517Also this guys right dude. Your quest is pretty flashy.I also second the flooboard suggestion.
About the same time tomorrow. 20:00 server time. Maybe earlier, likely not later.I'm also still looking for spells pertaining to demonic and demonic/fae.
>>23852617call me a noob, but where can i check "server time"? oh and the floorboard
>>23852617So your looking for suggestions pretty much? Also I have a few questions. What does the polished/revered stone/holy white line actually do and what would we benefit from? Also what does the Spirit Children ability do?
You check the locations once more over and glance over to the rapidly lightening sky.You need to make a choice, and you need to make it fast. It won't exactly incriminate you if the humans find your daggers, truly. Yet it'd be best to not have to hunt them down when you animate once more. You enter the church and head to the floorboards behind the altar. There, at least, most of the humans will not tread.Pulling one of the looser ones back, you place your iron and silver daggers, with their sheaths included, into a dark hole. Replacing the board, you check it a few times, and see that it is indeed loose now, but likely they'll fix it, rather than sate any curiosity. You wing up to your perch above the church and await the dawn. You have learned of things this night, from the pastor that demonstrates strange rituals, to the strange sleep that seems to not affect certain villagers, the mermaids of the lake, and the stranger's ship. You have not taken the souls of any monsters this night, however you have not lost any of your charges to the forces of the night. With the rise of the sun, your night is over.
>>23852647Yes.Polished: Makes you stand out more during the day and night. People that regard you during the day see you as a clean statue. It would also avoid stains such as the wolf's blood.Revered Stone: An upgrade from Polished, it further increases your radiance and villagers take further note of your beauty, finding you pleasing to look upon during the day. You are more visible at night.Holy White: The white of your marble is a stunning perfection of my craftsmanship. People swear that they see God in the purity of your form.Spirit Children: An ability of the banshee's origin. Allows the conjuration of temporary body's of ether resembling children. They are capable of attacking with razor sharp teeth. You are aware that Iron makes them convulse in pain. Likely due to the Banshee's origin as a fae.
>>23852682I would recommend a Curse of Sloth and combined with the Fae tree a full on paralysis/body control tree. >>23852727Is there any benefit to the polished tree? Such as a combat modifier?
>>23852740It's just a utility that improves base appearance. When you're not covered in birdshit
>>23852727Could we have a rundown/description of all the brutality tree abilities? I'm particularly interested in Control all the way down to unholy colossus.
All of them, or just specific ones? Like, the right side?
>>23852822I'm interested in the right side but if you have them all typed up before hand give it all up.
I'll type them all up tomorrow. I have an idea/progression for each one.If you want a few specifics, I can deal that to you now and just save them.
As to why I don't have them all typed: Spent today getting most of it set up (Magic took a bit)
Control, Knight of Slaughter, Discilpline, Slayer, Stalwart, and Avenger and Unholy Colossus please.
>>23852864*Stalwart, Avenger and Unholy Colossus fml
Control: Reduces the madness induced by berserking to allow differentiation of targets.Force: Increases the might of the gargoyle, allowing further feats of raw strength,Berserk: Sends the Gargoyle into a frenzy, attacking and killing all things with in range. Pushes limits regardless of durability.Demon-Blooded: The force of demons runs through you, and you embrace it. Your Berserk becomes stronger and more wild.Discipline: Increases the control you have over your own body, further increasing control of berserk, and keeping violent tendencies in check.Stalwart: You are extremely hard to move. When you have both feet upon the ground, pushing you back is extremely difficult. However if the force breaks you, that is another story.Avenger: For each and every charge your enemy slays, the violence you will grant them grows. You feed off of the dying wishes and fears of others. And grant them.Unholy Juggernaut*- Mixing the power of the avenger with the power of evil and taint incarnate, your form will remain held by magic even should it break, fracture or fragment. You are unyielding in your pursuit and only vulnerable to silver and more powerful magic than that which grants you life.
>>23852930Nice. What of Knight of Slaughter and Slayer?
Slayer: You have a natural talent in finding the weakspots of enemies as you put them to your blade. Further, in the face of many, each kill increases your frenzy, berserking or not.Knight of Slaughter: Killing is not just madness, it is your duty. The only bastion between your charges and those that threaten them is you. This opens the gateway to discipline amongst the madness. You begin to learn more of the weapons you wield.
>>23853001Also all very cool. What of Metamorphosis and Beast Form? Also is there a reason the Brutal tree costs so much?
>>23853047They cost so much because subtlety was chosen as a starter. If you absorb more "brutal" souls, those costs will come down a bit.Metamorphosis: Taking on aspects of the demonic madness engraved into your form, you change your body temporarily into that of a demon, made living.Beast Form: Resurfacing the changing power of the werewolf, you can rearrange your stone into that of a half-beast.
>>23853103Combining those would be super awesome. Hell now that I think about it that is what a regular gargoyle looks like. Also what does Shadow Hounds give us? Also I don't think I have seen Subversion and Dark Guard in action yet.
>>23853136Dark Guard is your ability to sense life.Subversion is how people naturally notice you less. Your wings are rather loud, yet when you fly above the guards, they don't notice. The Mermaid noticed because she's quite a bit more keen.Shadow Hounds: Forge creatures of shadow to do your bidding. They attack with fang and claw, light being their only weakness. They cannot get too far from you however without being sustained by other magic.
Annnnd, I'm goin' ta sleep!See you tomorrow...-ish.
>>23853177Thanks for your time. I look forward to the next installment.
>>23852617Definitely showing up tomorrow.Glad I happened to catch this.
