Previous threads:http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=millicent+fauxly(3 Fate Points)We are Millicent Fauxly. Young witch newly accepted into the prestigious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We are in Ravenclaw house. Mum and Dad are furious. Our relationship with our rival Maud, a third year Slytherin student, has taken a turn for the better. Traits:Near-Death>A fear of large bodies of water and being unable to stomach foods with obvious fish.Hexer>Natural aptitude to hexes, but not trusted by others because of it.Supernatural Luck: Able to refresh a Fate Point on an 8, 9, & 10 on a d10.
Reading up on the Trident there is a listed event of when it was used in Hogwarts. According to a very old book you found detailing the history of the Slytherin house, Rowena Ravenclaw had the Trident stolen from her possession by Salazar so he could covet her knowledge. As for the Mannequin you get very lucky. You discover that it is possible to capture spirits and other otherworldly ethers in crystal balls. What's more the entity inside the ball has a degree of control over it...muggles have been known to find these crystal spirit orbs and use them for theatricality. If you were to build a clockwork mannequin with an orb heart in the middle you might just be able to give Nathaniel the body he desires.
Just wanna say, I've read quite a few of these, and this is the best Quest on /tg/ right now.Keep on keepin' on, OP
After using up your lunch studying with your Olivia and Nigel you pack up and make your way to Defence Against the Dark Arts. As you enter the classroom with Nigel and Olivia you notice that Joel is nowhere to be seen. Desks and chairs bump idly against one another on the classroom ceiling beside the dragon skeleton as Professor Olivier emerges from the back office. "Today we will be learning to defend ourselves against harmful spells" he says, drawing his wand and motioning for the other students to come closer. "I will teach you the disarming spell 'Expelliarmus'"He tells you to pick a partner to duel with.>Nigel>Olivia
neato, that thread. This one is awesome. Sadly i havent followed it closely enough to know the advantages of picking either Nigel or Olivia, so I will just observe and enjoy

>>23396507>>23396518>>23396579Millicent is Anti-Social. This is the system-specific trait, not the popular definition of anti-social. She is not socially awkward, shy, or lonely; she actively hates people. But she is not a sociopath (she does feel emotions, and she does understand social expectations and rules, and does follow them, and is not manipulative; she just hates people). However, being thrust into an environment where she MUST interact with people, no longer having the safe haven of her own room or of Dad and Mum, and with the threat of being disowned, has forced Millicent to begin accepting more people. This does not mean that Millicent is lonely and wants friends for the sake of companionship or for the sake of friendship; she still feels hatred for people outside of the very small circle of family, familiar, doll, and acquaintance(s).And that hatred will only subside with time, or her being forced to get to know the person better and becoming acclimated to them. Her hatred isn't an uncontrolled thing either, unlike her fear of bodies of water or nausea regarding seafood; she can push down that hatred enough to work with people. People can do things they hate, and be unhappy with it but do it all the same. tl;drPeople have to work hard to be liked or even tolerated by Millicent; Average Joe's can go take a hike, Real Relationships Only.

The blue hued ether of Olivia's spell shoots across the classroom as you scramble in a panic to cast your protective ward. You not only fail to cast the defensive spell you also have the wand shot out of your hand and onto the floor. The wand hits the ground so hard you think it might crack, thankfully this time it doesn't. >>23398505>>23398602Not to say that I don't want Millicent to NEVER be social, I just don't think that enough has happened for us to get over it. I want a character arc, dammit! With growth!
Rolled 5>>23398586No. We want to play Quidditch, so that we can show of our superior stature to those gryffindor cheerleaders. Also, expert broom flying, which considering the triwizzardscup and travle and chases is quite important. So expert broom handling and flying is a must. Also its a good way to ply our high body and strength score at batting things away.
>>23398606Well, hating social interaction and acting as awkwardly as we do when aproached about them is fucking socially inept. The way we act, and the way it seems to influence our psyche, we are fucking socially retarded, no matter what the "anti-social"-property means to you.
>>23398679there are still five years until we are allowed to the triwizzardcup, I think we can take our time
>>23398700Greatness requires 10000 hours of work, we're already five years behind.
>>23398689>Acting as awkwardly as we do>Getting that shit done in the least amount of words necessary>awkward
Rolled 100>>23398606Anti social does not mean we are a social recluse. It means we have a tendency to sociopathy..We go to parties we have friends. But we find it very easy to hurt them, and we are some of the closest peoples to go shooting our wand at everything that moves if they push us off the edge.I am tired of this stupid social recluse thing.its high time we get over it. Would we have a easier time getting over it in Slytherin, basing our social interactions on intimidation and strength? Sure. But Raveclaw is the next best thing, in their meritocratic society.
>>23398782>"I have studying to do..." you say, giving her the perfect opening to twist your ear into coming. >"Oh come on! You'll enjoy yourself, I've never been to a wizard party before and it would be nice to know another girl there. I mean Nigel is coming too but I can't really talk to him about our sort of stuff">She keeps on like this for another ten minutes before you give a begrudging yes.yeah, thats totally stylish and reasonable
>>23398818Back story promotes social recluse, trait means hating people.Millie is both.
>>23398522>Talk to Fur EliseYes.
>>23398657And I want a dice roller that doesn't consistently fuck us in the ass.
>>23398875yeah, "anti social" might not mean socially inept, but we are, independently of it.
You make sure your robes and hair are presentable. The party is taking place downstairs in the dorm so you don't have to worry about staying up too late. As soon as you're no longer feeling up to being surrounded by people you can make a beeline for your bed. "Is there anyone you would like to invite?" asks Olivia off-handedly as she battles to get her scruffy hair under control. >I don't have any friends outside Ravenclaw>There is this one boy from Slytherin I could ask>Not really>other

>>23398929A book on Rowena Ravenclaw's Triden!
>>23398929There is this one boy from Slytherin I could ask
>>23398956>>23398929Invite the ghost! Bwahahaha!
>>23398929> I don't have any friends outside of Ravenclaw.Personally, we don't know enough about Robert to even invite him over. Besides, we don't know about Ravenclaw's position about Slytherin students to begin with.
>>23398818Our only friend until hogwarts was a fucking dollThere are Japs with virtual girlfriends that are more social than Millie.
"Not really" you say, your mind wanders to Robert Huxley but then you've only really spoken to him once. You'll have to see how it plays out with him concerning whether or not you can trust him. "That's cool, you can make some new friends tonight" says Olivia as she puts down her comb and sees to picking the stray hairs from her robe. Olivia asks if you're ready to go downstairs for the party which has just begun. >Lets get this over with>Not yet (spend some time with Elise and Tara first)>other
I think the majority of the anti-social confusion is coming from how people perceive the name of the trait. They read it as super hatred and disdain of all life when in practice it really just means Millie is introverted and doesnt usually like to be around people. The way >>23397116 explained it is almost an exact definition of introversion.
>>23399118Tell Elise that if we don't come back by the night to get a teacher.Tell Tara we'll spend more time with her tomorrow
>>23399118Let's get this over with.Aright Elise, wish me luck!"
>>23399118>Let's get this over withWe don't want her to leave ahead of us.

>>23399118>Lets get this over withGet our 'High Society Pureblood' game face on. Just think of it as one of the social gatherings that Mum used to take us to.
>>23399163Yeah, it's no fun going to a party full of strange people alone.
>>23399118>>Not yet (spend some time with Elise and Tara first)Say hello to our kitty. We have been neglecting her a bit.
>>23399134You can be an introvert and not hate people. Millie does hate them. However, I think the people aiming for being a sociopath are going too far. I try to go for general disdain for interacting with people we're not connected to.
>>23399134yeah, the trait may be that way, but we obviously are very uncomfortable around people, are acting strangely and insecurely, and sometimes feel active discomfort when the notion of social contact arizes.trait or no trait, we are pretty fucked up
>>23399232I'm just gonna add to this:Guys. Look at her face. She's like, "Why are you following me, people?"
>>23399134>>23399177>They read it as super hatred and disdain of all lifeThat's because that is EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS IN THE RULEBOOK.And did you miss in >>23397116 where it says that Millicent actively hates people? Seclusion from others was a result of the hatred, not the other way around.
Leaving Elise under Tara's watchful eye you make your way downstairs with Olivia. An enchanted violin plays as you enter the main dorm, Ravenclaw's of all years talk amongst one another in polite conversation. Hardly a swinging party that you expected. This is very much like the parties Mum and Dad would drag you to. Roll 1d100 Perception.

Rolled 88>>23399443No. I did not until i was well past my legal age on that.Of course, i am from Europe, so we are way more liberal with booze here.
In one corner you notice the red hair of the non-ravenclaw Harriet. She's head first in conversation with some of the older Ravenclaw girls, a ravenclaw boy by her side and clearly the one who invited her to the damn party.Thankfully you see Joel who is dressed impeccably with his hair combed back."Hey Millicent" he says, smiling "I didn't think you'd show up">Yeah this isn't really my thing but Olivia talked me into it. >Yep. >>23399347I read it and it completely misinterprets the summary of Millicent's character.>I think the majority of the anti-social confusion is coming from how people perceive the name of the traitYes, this does appear to be the case. People not understanding what it meant by this specific usage of the phrase Anti-Social. They bring their own assumptions about the term to the character, rather than reading the actual description in the rulebook. Misanthropy would perhaps have been a more accurate term, but we are going by the rulebook here.>They read it as super hatred and disdain of all life That is the definition of the term, as it is used in this system. "The child simply has a hatred of everyone and everything around them, drivingthem to isolation and performing cruel acts with frightening ease." Our hatred drove us to social isolation even from our peers in Pureblood high society.>when in practice it really just means Millie is introverted and doesnt usually like to be around people. That's using the colloquial definition, neither the definition describing the trait that Millicent has on her character sheet and backstory, or the technical definition from psychiatry.>The way >>23397116 explained it is almost an exact definition of introversion. No, it is not. Millicent actively hates people. It is not that she feels drained interacting with them, or that she gives away energy during social contact, or any other the other descriptions of introversion. She hates people, except those that she has made into friends, and is not lonely.
>>23399517>>Yeah this isn't really my thing but Olivia talked me into it.And, "This party feels like the parties that my parents and I attended to: for better or for worse."Follow up with, "I haven't seen you all day. You must of been pretty busy today."

>>23399660Oh, well then I apologize. >I was saying that Millie is both hateful and introverted.I think that the former led to a bit of the latter-type behaviors. But because Millicent isn't necessarily a true introvert, I think that working on the Anti-Social Trait (hateful part) will automatically work to make her more sociable.
