Young witch newly accepted into the prestigious Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We are in Ravenclaw house. Mum and Dad are furious. Our relationship with our rival Maud, a third year Slytherin student, has taken a turn for the better. Traits:Near-Death>A fear of large bodies of water and being unable to stomach foods with obvious fish.Hexer>Natural aptitude to hexes, but not trusted by others because of it.Supernatural Luck: Able to refresh a Fate Point on an 8, 9, & 10 on a d10.
"I don't know, I have discovered a few useful things here and there, but Sam's actions have occupied me recently, to be honest." You say.Tooledge gives a thoughtful nod, clasing his long vainy hands together. "Terrible business" he says, silence ensues until you think he's done with you "I'm rooting for you to win the contest. The trident will have to be taken to the ministry for evaluation and brought back here for safe keeping. Such a find however will most likely assure the house cup for this year's house, if the information you have given me is correct a student from each house has been chosen to take part in this contest.">Thanks sir>nod, smile, and leave. >other

You nod, smile and leave, a new energy fuelling you to be the first to find the Trident before the others. You descend the stairs about make your way to double muggle studies class. Professor Orchard, a little balding man with a fat belly, hardly notices you enter his class late. You take a seat at the back and watch on as the Muggle monetary system is explained to you as well as charming little things called "Telephones" work.Roll 1d100. 55 or less wins.

>>23379424I think it's suspicious that right after we say that Sam's actions have troubled us, that he says "Terrible business", pauses, and then tells us to win the Trident. And that whoever gets the Trident will in all likelihood win the House Cup for the year.Taken by itself, Sam's poisoning of Slytherin to gain back Hufflepuff's glory doesn't make sense. But add in the context of the contest, of bumping off competition, in a contest that will win back glory for the House by acquiring the House Cup, and it makes more sense.
Oh hey, it's still going on!
(don't say I don't give you options)You manage to past the end of lesson test by the skin of your teeth. You find it remarkably interesting how some muggle technologies aren't able to work around magic, something like a telephone would come in highly useful afterall. Lunch rolls around. You catch up with Nigel and Olivia and ask them if they want to come and study with you in the library. They accept and go with you for lunch before the last lesson of the day."There is going to be a Ravenclaw party tonight" says Olivia "everyone was going on about it at the Quidditch pitch" >Yeah I don't do partys>Sounds like fun>other

"Yeah I don't do parties" you tell her as you enter the library, finding a quiet spot in the back to study by a large pane glass depicting a mermaid. Roll 1d100 for study. I'll rate this by degrees of failure/success. 55 or less wins.

Reading up on the Trident there is a listed event of when it was used in Hogwarts. According to a very old book you found detailing the history of the Slytherin house, Rowena Ravenclaw had the Trident stolen from her possession by Salazar so he could covet her knowledge. As for the Mannequin you get very lucky. You discover that it is possible to capture spirits and other otherworldly ethers in crystal balls. What's more the entity inside the ball has a degree of control over it...muggles have been known to find these crystal spirit orbs and use them for theatricality. If you were to build a clockwork mannequin with an orb heart in the middle you might just be able to give Nathaniel the body he desires.(taking a break)
Rolled 66>>23380144Great. We might need to use technology to make it work. How about we go to that party ans try to find a ravenclaw that could help with that?
Rolled 3>>23380144While you're taking a break...Has the earlier thread been archived yet?
>>23379273>Supernatural Luckclearly this indicates latent connection with the eldritch paratruth of reality, and warrants more focused experimentation.
>>23380144we start sketching plans for this
>>23380302So I guess we need to read up on muggle studies more? If we want to build some technology, that is.
I'm going to call it a day actually. I'll archive this.

Rolled 98>>23380407Good night, Mrs. Rowling. We eagerly await your return.
>>23380407Aw, but get some sleep OP. We'll get back to this tomorrow.
>>23380302Yep. Crystall balls. We need to find a way to sneak into the Divination classroom and steal one of the orbs. No, disregard that, this is Millie we're talking about. We should ask if somebody goes to that class and ask for them to steal the orb in exchange for a favor.
>>23380407Get some sleep OP. We'll get back to this tomorrow.
>>23380302>>23380329Well what we could do is accidentally order a suit of power-assist armor, not realizing it's an exo-frame and not a suit of armor. But in terms of clockwork, Switzerland, Germany, and Japan would be the best places to look. Arabia in the past, but not now.
>>23380407Hey, thanks for a pretty entertaining afternoon, good sir. Just wondering, where did thread 10 go? Doesn't seem to be in the suptg archives, and I loathe to join in on a quest without having read all previous threads.
>>23384317Ah nvm, found it.
>>23384250And yet, it appears to be the same kind of cavalier attitude that many of the professors take in the setting. They act as if all of the students can simply resleave themselves from memory backups if something goes wrong.
>>23385818Well, in their defense, magical healing is available and easy. If it doesn't kill you immediately, it probably won't at all. Not that this is a good excuse for such negligence, mind you.
>>23386172>Not that this is a good excuse for such negligence, mind you.Actually, when you think about it, such a casual disregard for safety, combined with the easy availability of effective magical healing and the kind of knowledge being imparted, it makes sense and is actually kind of a good excuse. They're showing how carelessness, combined with the powers and magical creatures that even First Years wield and interact with, can result in painful injuries and even near-death. Because, aside from the Professors, I don't recall any Wizard or Witch being so careless outside the walls of Hogwarts. Maybe it's all part of a very hands-on and direct policy of showing students the consequences of negligence in the wizarding workplace.
>>23386980You know, I kinda like that. Like social darwinism without the croaking.
>>23387279I was actually thinking of it being, for them, a real-life application of the following safety video:http://youtu.be/Tqd4aPs5WTALike, their entire lives during their years at Hogwarts is one big safety training video.

>>23392846hey, OP, when does this Quest play? Did HP already happen?
>>23392871Three-four hours from now. I'll make a new thread.
>>23392871It's alternate universe if I'm not mistaken, HP never happened or will not happen. There is no Voldemort. I think it was mentioned a few times in the archives.>>23392846Tbh, when I first saw it I mostly thought "meh, more HP fanfic", but the drawfagging lured me in. You made me stay up until 2 am yesterday from reading through all of the archives while my head was constantly screaming to go to sleep because I have to wake up at 6:25. I think that more or less conveys how much I like it.I've been meaning to get back into a regular quest. I've been following Digimon quest but it's weekly, runs on a time I can't join and Gale has some trouble with writing fast enough imo, so not much happens during each thread (though he's been improving).
>>23392940Is there a regular time for HPQuest, or does it just sort of run when you feel like it?
>>23392940Can we get a Professor Zim at some point? Either as a DADA professor or some kind of dueling instructor?
>>233929776-8pm~ is the semi-new starting time. It was 6am but that was because I was on a waking up early streak. This is England standard gmt time. +6 hours 4chan time.
>>23393066A professor or Auror based off of the character Sergeant Zim from Starship Troopers. I'd be happy with the novel version, but the animated or movie versions would also be fine.
>>23393121I'll see what I can do.
>>23392966Running a quest weekly must be a bummer. Not a lot really happens per thread, though that might just be my way of doing things.
>>23393220>Not a lot really happens per thread, though that might just be my way of doing things. But it's a daily (?) quest, so that makes up for a lot of the pacing.

>>23393271Yeah I'm going to stretch the days and weeks in future threads.Probably once the week is out.
