LAst night I struck up a thread building a chapter. Lot of good ideas that were tossed around are herehttp://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/23194574/Let's keep the good idea's a rolling for the Gangster chapter
>>23215009May I ask how you made your OP picture?
>>23215067I didn't It appeared in the original thread, though OI assume you can do a google search
>>23215067There is a bolter & chainsword space marine painter, but the newest version doesn't have the equipment, so you'll have to google "space marine painter beta"
What do you guys think of this
>>23215097>>23215081My thanks to you both
>>23215114It's shit. I hate it.I think the bright orange being broken up by black will just look bad. What do you think of mine? Shit?
Dread from previous thread.
Heavy gold ornamentation on the dreadnoughts.
I was thinking of doing a John Woo inspired chapter (Blood Angels off-shoot who suffer from a perculiar strain of the Red Rage that while in combat lets them see in everything in bullet time) So basically they just fly around on jump packs shooting dual wield bolt pistols in slow-motion and when they run out of ammo they just get in fist fights, also on jump packs.
>>23217533Where would all the doves fit in though?
We need somebody to compile the main points of the previous thread.
>>23217556Plenty of room in the pauldrons.
Here is the gist of the Chapter
>>23217902Along with one of the ideas about background and tactics that came later on.
You guys always try to cram as much color into your marines as possible.Don't:See the armor as individual sections and color it soPaint the boots your trim color or a separate colorPaint the guns not silverDo:Look at the canon chapters to see color choice and what get's colored whatTest your scheme out to see if you can paint itBe hard on yourself regarding color choice, after all you're going to spend a lot of time and money on this color scheme.>Pic relatedIt's how I see my opponent if he plopped down an army like >>23215009
>>23217930By individual sections I mean don't paint like >>23217428. Especially those orange/grey thing going on with the hip joints it will look like shit.
>>23215009Why not pre-heresy world eaters?
>>23217963I was responsible for >>23215009 pic which I felt was fairly simple/solid and easy to paint. I'd got for a darker grey / almost black as a base. One orange shoulder, one green shoulder (to represent that we're a dark angel successor chapter), orange kneepads, eyes, elbows, bitz of backpack, a stripe on the head and green boots. It's not overly complicated nor does it use a huge amount of color on silly spots. The green shoulder is for company insignia, the orange shoulder is for chapter heraldry. Right knee is also for company number.I wasn't responsible for >>23217428 but I did do pic related, honestly I'm not a big fan of the dread color scheme.>>23215114>>23215292With the original color scheme I wanted to avoid a lot of bone white, black and dark green because those are all dark angels color schemes. We just use their army for tabletop, we don't want their whole color scheme too.I am by no means a painting expert, but I went for something that I felt was fairly simple. OP pic is supposed to be a squad captain in the 3rd company veterans.
>>23218039Because it was a chapter builder thread, all the statistics were randomly rolled for then fluffed out at a later point.
>>23217842>>23217902>>23217911compiles the points down.
>>23217930There are three colours plus metallic gold and black. The heraldry works and its not a rainbow marine. Most official chapters are one colour how is that fun?
>>23219484I'd remove the green (and put one of the existing colours there), it clashes with the orange (and blue) in a fairly unique way, imho. You could get rid of the orange instead, but I'm not sure how good that'd look. Also, I'm a bit torn on the Aquila being gold. Brass maybe? The purple cape for the captains is, well, not very good looking. I'd've just dumped the cape, but there are other options. If you remove the green or the orange, you _could_ change it into a new colour, but as a rule, I don't think you want several bright colours.A white cape might work, though, but I'd advice you to keep to the same colour for flowing garb. As a bonus, that'll help you see colour matching issues. Also, look over colour placement.
>>23219872There is no blue in the color scheme, it's dark grey, orange, a bit of green, gold or brass work for the aquila and the cape is far from a hard set color.
The color scheme was Grey as the base with Orange stripes in various points.
Just started to make my own chapter, and they are another DA successor. They are divergent, with a medieval jungle homeworld. They have bestial companions and luff close combat. Can I get some help on a name?Oh, founded in 35th M
>>23215292This one looks pretty clean.>>23220833 We could try it with this kind of colorsheme and it would be very much the same. Also, liking the names. I had first proposed Stone Angels as a starting point, and Stone Hearts is also cool. We don't need to go too complicated, here.
>>23221046I imagine the organge stripes along the paldrons and grieves?
So, from the top of my head, we only came up with a name for the CM, seeing as he was the figure of legend. However, couldn't we continue and name the three captains? Giving them suitably subtle gangster names?
>>23223270well I kind of think warhammering Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. would be suitable can't imagine the third company captain
>>23223535Welp, the third company is supposed to be made of Vets right? Those who survived the Great battle against the Orks? Well, pic related seems like a cool idea. He has multiple aliases, so we could incorporate one of these. Otherwise, we could do a REAL old school gangster, like maybe one of the first 'Gangster Rappers'.
>>23223699either of those suggestions actually sound like a good plan
So, he could become Captain Vaughn, who would have been blessed with Dreadnought armour after the battle due to grievous injury he recieved (Iunno, Loota shot to the face?) had it not been for his Brothers and his own will to keep fighting. Now he must wear a mask/helmet made specifically made for him by the Chapters Master of the Forge. This mask/helmet keeps him alive, and allows him to lead his Brothers into battle, rather than backing them up inside of a Dread. He is generally sound minded, yet every now and again his demeanor changes. His tactics become more brutal, his style becomes more aggressive, his actions more destructive. The CM wonders wether Vaughn is losing himself, possibly to Chaos. However, he will never know, for the mask makes it impossible to see what is going on behind it.
>>23223980Now that sounds fitting
>>23224086OR he could become Captain Mansur Nurridin, who is one of the original recruits from the Chapters Founding. He is truly devout to the Emprah, and his Brothers feel that he will become the next CM should the current one fall. No other Brother fought harder than him and his company during the Great Battle. Wherever the fighting was thickest, he could be seen crashing into the endless tide of greenskins. Many Brothers feel that, when he fights beside them, it is as if a warrior from legend has entered the fray. His fury and power seem to make him larger than he is, larger than a Dreadnought, larger than life. He specialises in terror tactics, along with those that the CM taught. While the other Companies merely Drive-By, he makes it so their Rhinos appear as is from nowhere, crushing all who oppose the might of the Emprah. Not only is he known as a master of battle, he is renowned for his wise words and artistic stylings (read: Raps).
>>23223980remember, subtlety is key.
I kind of get the feeling that, if you told this to most people at your FLGS, they wouldn't go 'Oh, that Captain sounds exactly like the rapper Madvillain, who uses the name Viktor Vaughn as an alias. Are your Marines gangster rappers?'On a side note, >>23217930 seemd to think that OPs pic was a bit too garish for our armour, so I made a more demur one. I personally have no problem with the original colour scheme, this was just a possible variant. Hell, maybe we could make it so each company has a slightly different colour scheme. Same colours, just applied differently.
>>23224409>>23224785Apparently my laptop doesn't like to paste properly. This was at this post.
Oh, possible Termie scheme too.
>>23224785>>23224971They look pretty good. We going to differentiate between different Companies? We had Green for 3rd Vets, White for 2nd Company, and some other color for 1st Company?
>>23225357The emblems were what differed between company. The armor is supposed to look the same like >>23224971 or >>23215009 (my favorites, note that I still like >>23224785 aside from lack of green shoulder). We were trying to avoid original dark angel colors of bone white, pure black and dark green (leaving only dark green shoulder intact to signify successor chapter).Otherwise it's all cool.So to focus back on fluff - why is our recruitment world important? Is it just an urban/feral deathworld with nasty monsters? or does it have something else going on there?
Is the vets company still going to be termies and dreads.
>>23225478People are saying vampire hunter world (Innistrad) with its Feral World, Urban environment, Though I've been suggesting a ruined City-World so that the whole environment is ruined Stone Cities and hives. Actually, that could really influence the Chapter name! Inspiration, ho! Stone cities, grey color-scheme to match, vampire hunter world... we could call them the Gargoyles.
>>23225478The planet is in the same sector as a Ecclesiastes home world. The planets population is susceptible to extreme mutations. As the planet has fallen from a hive world to a feral wasteland the population has lost their faith, the chapter has been given stewardship of the planet in an attempt to redeem the population.
>>23225657I like the ruined city idea. A hive that has fallen to nature.
>>23225657Grey Gargoyles? Going for some nice alliteration there.>>23225523Actually, 1st Company is going to be Termies, Deathwing. 2nd Company is going to be Speeders and Bike, Ravenwing. 3rd will be heavies and Dreads, I think.
>>23225478>Urban Feral World>Big Monsters>EverythingclicksinmyheadIt is an urban world, yet it was developed before we ever got there. The buildings are in disrepair, slowly crumbling and falling in on themselves. The people who live here are seperated into tribes that inhabit different areas of the ruins, and we go round grabbing the most dangerous of them. Imagine Apocalypse Now-esque terrain and buildings. The natives are not a threat to us, but they are to each other.
>>23225719Third is Vets, and I came up with two potential Captains. >>23223980 >>23224382
?ic/ palette fun was here
>>23225880We could have the Dread as the Company Commander, and the other as either a different Company Commander/Special Character, or vice-versa.
>>23225965...Neither are Dreads. One would have become a Dread but has a helmet he can never remove as it keeps him alive, the other is a wise, badass mutha who's been around from the Chapters founding.
>>23225965I'd rather have a company of dreads and heavies
>>23225657No, not vampire hunter world. Vampire Hunter D world.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nZnF3Iv8HgFucked up beasties and whatnot. Most of the hives are intact (though some have fallen after the chapters disastrous fight) and /creatures/ have infiltrated hives masquerading as humans... mostly undetected except to those who have psyker abilities, or those who catch them feeding their unnatural hungers (excessive violence even for the gangers they usually replace) or notice their oddities (mostly concealable mutations).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nZnF3Iv8Hg Inspiration. Innistrad works though too.
>>23225965For tabletop reasons, the chapter master is a standin for sammael of dark angels, the 1st company leader is a standin for belial of dark angels (it lets us field the bikers/fast attack heavy choices we'd want for 1st company, and the terminator heavy army we'd want for 2nd company). 3rd Company is still available (but please make it relatively compatible with dark angels codex), maybe a command squad?
>>23226065Play 200 point games of apocalypse.
>>23227185I've never played apoc. But my interest is piqued.
>>23227106HAve we came up with an official name yet?
>>23227482Mostly stuff related to stone angels and gargoyles. No official name has been forthcoming.
>>23227482If the dark angels are named after the Lionel Johnson poem perhaps e we could find an appropriate obscure rap song?
>>23227106Stone Angels, Stone Hearts, Grey (or something else) Gargoyles are being tossed around right now.If we're willing to step away from 'gangsters' a bit further we could maybe have them more akin to gypsy legends, they leave the beasts on the planet (in a controlled state of chaos) so as to help find people with psyker potential or people strong enough to try to kill things. It still works with the concept of brotherhood as they're super close like gypsy bands would be and the vehicles / religion still make sense. That could be incorporated alongside the people who come from whatever hive gangs are around so they're not *all* gangers (just the majority).
>>23227482The Angelus Petra. Roughly stone angels. The chapter is tight with religious orders, which use high gothic aka Latin.
>>23227482The Angelus Petrus. Roughly stone angels. The chapter is tight with religious orders, which use high gothic aka Latin.
>>23227724Angelus Petra sounds good. If people are still interested in certain names we could have say 1st company be Gargoyles, 2nd + 3rd company be other fun stuffs.
>>23227801I can dig it
>>23227801Sounds good. The other companies need statuary related names.
Following the subtle gangster reference theme. The chapter could take pride in writing and reciting an oral history of there chapter aka rap.
>>23232898give me a bit and I might have some writefagging done.
>>23233206I can do this.
How goes writefaggin?
>>23234956>>23234140Writers block, cant reconcile tone between how I invision things and that people really want to play up the 'gangster' theme.Instead I think I'll settle for fluffing world a bit more.Solar system has 3 major planets of value to the imperium. The primary of which is an ecclesiarchal agri-world feeding the entire subsector and more. The second worldisn't all that important itself but it is large enough to have a strong gravitational pull and is located close to an asteroid field that the adeptus mechanicus deems valuable, they've set up a ring-like space station there of which the primary function is to act as a magnetic accelerator for asteroids, shooting them into the orbit of the admech forge-world. In dire circumstances this station can be used as a system defence platform, shooting (valuable) asteroids at any would-be invaders. With those two important features of the sub-sector, a request was made to the highlords of terra for creation of an Adeptus Astartes chapter for further defense of strategic assets... and they would get the leftovers of the 'habitable' planets in the system. A World that was once as important as the ecclesiarchal agri-world at least until it was wreathed in a warp storm for two centuries , leaving it an almost barren world, rampant with mutants and severely regressed in technology the majority of its once prosperous hives now fallen. Humanity still lingers on the planet in the forms of tough as nails gangers in the hives, rare psykers who can detect the more dangerous mutants and small roaving bands from the dilapidated hives, constantly on the move lest the beasts that toppled the hives catch them.
>>23235433The Highlords of Terra obviously agreed, and the Angelus Petrus chapter was born in M40.132, a very fortunate occurance for the subsector as within the next 80 years an ork waaagh would threaten the whole subsector.
>>23235488>>23235433Oh my. I quite like this.
I was in the first thread, and my favorite part about the chapter were the three companies and their symbols, veterans were the tear, assault were the feather, and normal shit was the halo (I think?) can't remember. Was good shit though
>>23235488With the Imperial sanction, a full chapter was created in record time from dark angels gene-seed, largely thanks to the ministrations of Chief Apothecarion Dreyfus (one of the first chapter initiates) now belonging to the third company... it has maddened him that all his work was seemingly for naught after the disaster with the cult of speed waaagh.4 solar years before the waaagh, the chapter master (He is still unnamed according to our fluff), began to investigate eldar incursions into the area, It took him 3 years to make 'contact', which was a mere warning that "A storm is coming, a green tide rises in the empyrean and in a mere terran year, you must have your forces arrayed and readied to meet it with all strength or your sector shall fall to chaos and ruin" this was greatly misinterpreted by the chapter master - who swore to silence the others who witnessed the exchange... and the chapter was thoroughly investigated by the chaplains for any inkling of chaos taint stemming from the new recruits, as the planet they had been given stewardship over was rampant with mutants. Purifying chants, litanies and a strong oral tradition became very prominent in the chapter at around this time, the recruits from the roaming bands likened it to their familial singing and the hive-gangers found it new and appealing.Despite the confusion of the message - thinking they were going to be facing down chaos traitors and on a silent witchhunt within the chapter, the chapter was prepared for battle... but ultimately they were prepared for the wrong type of battle. Weeks prior to the greenskin horde landing in system, a silent communique was sent to the adeptus mechanicus orbital station, warning them to be extra wary about vessels in warp transit - that hostiles might arrive any day... and despite the warnings they were given, when the greenskin waaagh dropped out of the empyrean the mechanicus was startled and loathe to commit the station to system defense.
MOUNTAIN STREET HOMIES
>>23236094The Mechanicum Adepts reasoned that the greenskins hadn't noticed the orbital station amongst the asteroids and they were concerned that should they start firing their oh-so-valuable asteroids at the greenskin fleet, they would risk giving away their position to a greenskin horde dead-set on looting whatever they could from the system. After all the Highlords of Terra had given Imperial sanction to the creation of an astartes chapter merely to defend the system, what did they have to fear? little did they know that the astartes were expecting renegades, not greenskins. Thus the greenskins made landfall unimpeded upon the ecclesiarchal world... which had failed to commit to a void-battle with the xenos, knowing the destructive potential of the mechanicus station.(I could continue, but I'm kind of tired... the rest is tl;dr there was a giant clusterfuck of people assuming things, the astartes having to commit expecting chaos renegades and losing 7/10ths of the chapter due to being loaded out improperly).
>>23236176I very much like this, so very much, it makes plenty of sense and works..
>>23236255Apothecarion Dreyfus-> Doctor Dre
>>23236293ALL OF MY FUCK YES!....Yes. let's have this.
>>23236332That's the type of subtle pun I was trying to convey, maybe apothecarion dreyfus could just be apothecarion dre.
>>23236373Either one sounds awesome to me.
>>23215009http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Chapter%20CreatorPlease vote for thread - angelus petrus
Came up with some name suggestions.Tapuk ShakurosFlavius FlavileMerrick Chorden Malleus"Nassan"Natorio Grande (the E is silent)Fullix FulkmestKullin WootanQuintus TippionAll I got for now...Are we talking strictly "old school gangsta" rappers?
Oh, hey. It's back. Why didn't I see this earlier?
>>23236613it's probably for the best
>>23236613Chief Apothecary DrayTechmarine Exhibitus
>>23236613I like all.but the first two, they seem too obvious. I would rather we stick with apothecary Dreyfus as it is more subtle.
>>23236779Techmarine Tyler, the Creator In the odd future of the 41st millennium there is only Wolf Haley
>>23238370He hails from the gulf of whang.
>>23236613>Flavius FlavileI'm picturing a space marine that successfully killed a CSM then looted and repainted his helmet including the horns.
>>23236613>Merrick Chorden MalleusSounds like he could be an awesome chaplain, Jokes are great so long as they're subtle.
So hypothetically, if snoop dogg were included (not sure if he counts as Gangster Rap, I know he's been around since as long as the genre) Would we niclude him with his original name or would he be Snoop Lion.
>>23243259Legendary sergeant of what's become known as the 'snoop hounds' squad.
>>23243259Gotta be Snoop Lion. Dese gangstas is the DARKEST of the Dark Angels, remember?
>>23243259and we've come full circle back to cheap jokes.
>>23244265Keeping the Lion based name would be safe substitute with a portion of his birth name
>>23244332Leon Broadus.Done.Has Ice Cube been integrated yet? Maybe a Techmarine nicknamed "The Ghost of Mars"? Or some guy named Friday?
>>23244451I'm okay with a techmarine / ghost of mars type reference as it's somewhat subtle. It's supposed to be an interestingly fluffed chapter, not just a checklist of unfunny in your face pop culture references, keep that in mind.
Our chapter needs a home of some sort Given their home world and religious tendencies I propose a massive stone chapel built on the ruins of a hive. The chapels halls stand devoid life, filled with monuments to fallen brothers. The chapter librarians are tasked with keeping the oral history of the chapter. Beneath the chapel are vast catacombs that house the chapters dreadnoughts and their fallen brethren.
>>23245941I like the idea.
Brother Sergeant Aesop (Aesop Rock)Brother Sergeant Raek (Raekwon of Wu-Tang)I just had an idea. The DA have watchers in the dark, the small guys in robes. Can we make ours into DJs or beat boxers? As in, they record our history through spoken word and play it to new and old members of the chapter.
>>23245941Chaplains are custom keepers, Librarians are different.
>>23246573Since their world is prone to mutation they could have a race of benign mutants who are enamored with the chapter and live in the chapel collecting the chapters history. Note that blatant jokes are a no go.
>>23246753Sorry for the mix up.
>>23246573>Terminator Sergeant 'the Rock' Aesop
I love how everything has gone in these threads.
Bump in hopes of another day.
>>23235970Got it right. Halo kind of works for the "Iron Halo" shield thing Terminators get in 1st squad. The Speeders and Bikes are fast and flighty, and so get the feather, and the veterans have seen some shit, so they get the tear.
>>23254377I didn't even notice that shit.
So am I the only one who imagine these guys being able to outfight ultramarings?
>>23255587>ultramaringsI really typed that. Fuck. I think of at least on the home turf the Angelus Petrus would be able to hold them at bay.
>>23255587As far as things go, dark angels are pretty decent at killing other MEQ's in 6e (because chaos vs dark angels).Fluffwise for the angelus petrus chapter? they've only got 3 companies and their world isn't that great, ultramarines have some serious fanwank about them yes - but they have the largest numbers of successor chapters, they have in novels been described as pulling off some of the most coordinated and terrifying assaults in imperium history. They utterly smashed tsagulasa (the second nightlords world) in a single day.
>>23256333THE ULTRAMARINGS. Special digital weapons that only the highest heroes of Ultramar may be granted!
What's the system used shown in the other thread to create a chapter through rolling?
>>23256605One Ultramaring to rule them all.... Rowboats' cockring?
>>23259299Chapter creation table on 1d4chan
so this is supposed to be a gangster chapter?how about they deal their pure as fuck geneseed to chapters with corrupted geneseed so they can pass the geneseed tithein exchange the gifted chapters have to preferably take missions from the ecclesiarchy, which is why the gangsters get a lot of vehicles giftes to them by the ecclesiarchy for their drive by tacticsthe inquisition is trying to stop them and takes on the role of the copsand this is also why their numbers are so low, because they have less geneseed available
>>23260982We already have the chapter pretty well fluffed out. Also 40k has spess police.
>>23261063How fluffed out is it? by normal 40k standards
>>23261354>40k standardsWe do not yet have multiple conflicting sets of fluff so nowhere near 40k standard. On further detailing the chapter has a deep mistrust of the arbites because the arbites of there home world were corrupt and caused the downfall of the world.
>>23261593>No conflicts.Sound like /tg/ standards
>>23261172Random question: is Arbites pronounced "Are-bites" phonetically or "Are-bit-ees" to be more latin-like?
>>23263292Latin pronunciation. Ar-bi-tes
is it ready for 1d4chan?
>>23260982First reason this wouldnt work is because dark angels *hate* chaos, they almost fell to it, they would in no way aid a chapter that is potentially corrupt. Secondly Angelus Petrus chapter doesn't have enough geneseed to spare being concerned with their own recovery, thirdly all chapters regularly tithe geneseed to the adeptus mechanicus (specifically the magos biologis) and highlords of terra both for inspection of geneseed purity, and to create a genetic repository so that should a chapter A) develop a mutation B) get wiped out or some other unfortunate occurance there's a backup and finally C) there's a geneseed 'bank' that allows the creation of new chapters for whatever reason (protection of interests, crusades etc).
>>23264969Not quite, the chapter master isn't fluffed out nor are there any real supporting chapter members (beyond Chief Apothecarion Dreyfus and like two other people), the war with the orks isn't well detailed, nor is their own planet, their initiation methods (beyond - you found a monster and either killed it or went to petition angelus petrus members for help) or their place of operations on the planet.tl;dr the details about the chapter are very scant and scarce and don't really extend beyond how they're played on tabletop (ie a recolored dark angel army).
>>23265695Suddenly makes me think of grove street from San andreas>>23265790So should we make out Chapter masyter based off a real life Rapper? or could we make someone up whole from scratch?
>>23268524We could just take the name provided earlier in the thread (Merrick Chorden Malleus aka M.C.Hammer) and say he's our chapter master. It's mostly supposed to be subtle references and such, not overplayed 'hurr durr we gangstas lololol'
>>23268665...was M.C. HAmmer ever gangster? I know he's a preacher for a church now but I didn't thiink he was a Ganster Rapper.
>>23268745The chapter isn't necessarily all about gangster rap, that was just one of the influences we took after all the stats were rolled.
>>23269849Chapter Master Malleus. Merrick Chorden Malleus
Some point from the original chapter roll up that should be noted. >We are honour bound>we do not back down >we are a death cult
>>23273255Original chapter master died in battle, we seek to join him in death through battle. As we welcome death we do not back down. As our chapter master died with honor we are honer bound in remembrance of his great deeds.
>>23273465The original chapter master is still alive and kicking though having thoroughly smashed the greenskins (at the cost of 7/10ths of his chapter - presuming it was at full strength before the fight)We're dark angels successors, which means our original chapter backbone came from the dark angels chapter (so lets say 10 marines from the dark angels : the chapter master, 2-3 apothecarions, a chaplain, a librarian and some veterans) who raised up a chapter around them using the stock from the subsector (mostly from the recruitment world).Somewhere along the line, the chapter master and one of the veterans basically adopted all the special equipment for the dark angels ravenwing and deathwing companies (when a request for a chapter is made, entire forge-worlds turn over their production lines to create battle barges, equipment and etc for the new chapter - one of the guys put in requests for tl;dr copies of the equipment that belial [note our version of belial must use thunderhammer and stormshield or lightning claws - no sword of silence] and sammael)
>>23274676And NotSammael should be deploying in a Land Speeder, right?
>>23274820I actually prefer the jetbike, but he has the landspeeder too.
>>23274676In that case what is the explanation for our honour bound death cult.
>>23275306Lost most of our members?
>>23275306http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Death_Cult_Assassin#.USR58fI2f_ATo lose our honor would be to lose our way to be no better than traitors. To slay our enemies in the name of the emperor is to worship with every swordstroke, with every bullet hole, IN THE EMPERORS NAME, LET NONE LIVE.
>>23276572>>23276582That actually ties in quite neatly with our imperial ties, as our chapter is essentially a fanatical imperial deathcult of space marines. We fucking *LOVE* the emperor, and we love nothing more than to kill in his name (to the point where we fight even in incredibly risky situations just to kill more for him).
>>23276648ecclesiarchal ties, god damn I cant type.
>>23217556their grenades are shaped like doves and have tiny jet packs
>>23276974Archive has already been updated I believe.
>>23277918We need more definite hero type characters and we need more momentous battles. We need more clashes with the elder as they are our sworn enemy.
no dying good thread
>>23288352Needs a few more people contributing stuff - if anyone else wants to contribute thoughts and idea's, go ahead.
>>23288628The chapter is very new, as it is from the 26th founding. Most of the heroic figures are still active within the chapter. Despite being very new the chapter has a decent number of dreadnoughts because so many brothers died in the war with the orks on the echlessiarcy planet.
Chapter apothecaries tattoo sigils of purity onto the skin of new recruits.
>>23289095Typically these tatoos show up on the face of the bearer.
>>23289095If I recall in order to become a recruit you also must be survive out in a hostile wilderness with nothing but a combat knife and primitive gun with about 10 rounds I think. and youhave to last for 2 weeks.
>>23291372That sounds a little to blunt of a gangster rapper refrence...sounds to Mike Tyson.
>>23291372Facial tattoo denote rank and experience. Tattoos on the arms call on the strength of the eternal emperor. Tattoos on the chest speak of purity and devotion to the chapter and the emperor.
>>23291460Possibly I was thinking less gang tats and more like service studs
>>23291406Well the planet has all sorts of nasty beasties on it (akin to werewolves and supervampires and other shit - fun fact most death cults like to drink blood or place a special significance on blood, and we full deathcult), typically these invade the dilapidated hive-ruins that people live in, or fuck around with the roaming bands of gypsy people that exist on the planet... and someone eventually notices that the 'perfect' replacement isn't quite so perfect (a very different personality, or some normally concealable mutation gets unmasked) and after a great struggle it's eitehr killed - at which point tradition dictates the one who killed it braves the wilderness alone with a religious icon, a sacred knife, and a primative gun with 10 shots and 2 weeks of food to journey to the fortress monastery (which typically takes around a month to get to)... or they go and attempt to petition the space marines for help (and merely surviving such a journey is considered a feat worthy of potential recruitment).
>>23291460I wasn't thinking that at all when I mentioned it... our planet is an urban feral world right? I thought it was more tribal / gypsy than anything else.
>>23291546The world is urban feral the general consensus is dilapidated hive cities and vast forest/wilderness inhabited by mutant beasties.
>>23291523I like this. I'm not sure if the chapter has been on the planet for such a tradition to develop.
>>23291607Said beasties are mutants IIRC, who were responsible for the fall of several hives, and are capable of (almost) perfectly mimicing humanity. A lot of inspiration was drawn from stuff like vampire hunter d : bloodlust movie.>>23291523We rule through stewardship (ie, we have contacts amongst the humans who do things according to our wishes) and the 26th founding was like right at the start of m.40. The creation of a centralized fortress monastery would have been taken on by the adeptus mechanicus in the same sector, the initial command team would have probably been deployed right as soon as the planet was selected as a recruitment world, as well as magos biologis sent to start prepping for hardcore space marine creation, as well as ecclesiarchal contacts to have things administrated to as per our desires... Things have been getting set up since the start of m.40 (or in some cases may have already existed prior to the warp storm that caused so much shit on the planet).Ecclesiarchy people would have said "anyone who kills one of these creatures, or wants it dead is to be given x things and must undertake a journey to this location in order to receive help", Even before the chapter became able to stand on its own it probably had a 100 year tradition and it's about 75 years before the clash with the orks.
>>23291760Timeline sounds good. What caused the mutant shitstorm on the planet? What kind of rule do our stewards use?How do eldar work in as our sworn enemy?
>>23291863A warp storm enveloped the planet for a few centuries, causing mutations amongst certain portions of the population and largely the collapse of order on the planet. In the still standing hives, stewards are responsible for prettymuch everything in direct rule, and mostly for attempting to keep the mutants out while most of the mutants are kept in the wilds and out of hives its not perfect and quite frequently they infiltrate and replace gangers / prostitutes and other people who aren't generally important, but they cause huge amounts of bloodshed to occur before being noticed or killed - Psykers are one of the more common ways to notice that the mutants aren't who they claim they are. The dilapidated hives people prefer to avoid as they're almost completely overran by mutants, there are some border monasteries though, providing temporary safe haven (travelers must move on as the monasteries cannot support them) that mutants won't dare attack for they know that retribution would be swift and brutal.Eldar are a sworn enemy because (from our perspective) they manipulated us into a disastrous fight with orks that wiped out most of our chapter (we've only got 3 companies left). In truth it was a completely altruistic action by the eldar and the results would have been *much* worse had they not guided us into doing it.
>>23291863The mutations perhaps, could be anexcess of warp energy with in the planet. And earlier it was stated that the Eldar are our enemies because they alegedly tricked us into going to a tightly packed hive city with very few vehicles and into an ambush of Orc Waagh
>>23292046I just read over over the blood jaguars fluff and a lot of it over laps ours. The hive/forest the chapel on a ruined hive and that warp storm would as well. I propose that we take a drastic step and change from mutants to tyranids.
>>23292140If we use nids we can say that the eldar lead a splinter of a hive fleet to our planet.
>>23291863tl;dr take various post apocalyptic cliche movies / animes (vampire hunter D, highlander : search for vengeance, a bit of road warrior etc) and shit like innistrad and you've got something of what our planet is - and we prefer it that way as it provides strong recruits. We have death cult views (this should be expanded on further) in that we kill for the emperor and worship with every swordstroke and bolter round that kills one of His foes. These same views lead us to be *very* tight with the ecclesiarchy (as we fucking *love* the emperor) and it also ties in with our "No mercy, No respite" demeanor - we are always trying to bring death to His enemies, even if it risks our destruction every time we do it.>>23292118That wasn't stated, just that eldar were responsible for guiding us into the (completely necessary) fight with the orks, but we misinterpreted their message and thought it was chaos traitors and not speed freaks (because why the fuck would speed freaks attack and ecclesiarchal world).>>23292140I haven't bothered to read any of the blood jaguars fluff so any overlap is almost entirely accidental.
>>23292140>>23292186I prefer mutants to nids, it just ties in a bit better in my opinion. Genestealer cults are too effective in that they basically mindcontrol the fuck out of the populace, then bring a hive fleet around.Mutants (possibly possessed mutants), make sense for dark angels successors (because dark angels *hate* chaos), and they're insidious and invasive (like chaos) and only the truly shining examples of man notice these things that have replaced their friends or family and stand up to slay them and end their destructive lusts.
>>23292307Your arguments are valid mutants it is
Given the Eldar Grudge, a raid on a Craftworld would be appropriate.Make a new CW, maybe, and have a retributive raid made on them after consolidation post-Orkwar. With the future of the Chapter in doubt, and Craftworld Skrooyu still in system, the Chapter leadership launched an attack, based significantly on the newly created Dreadnoughts supported by the remnants of the first company. Targeting the Craftworld's Warlocks and Farseers with unrelenting firepower, the dreads dropped in via pods, and the Terminators teleported in, while the Second company mounted a successful campaign denying the Eldar access to their Guardian weapon stores and the Shrine of Khaine. While the attack was unsuccessful in destroying the Craftworld completely, it did manage to drive the Eldar far from the system, with minimal losses to the Stone Angels greatly improving the morale of the Chapter following the loss of so many of their brothers.
>>23294360I would honestly believe this to be possible.
>>23294360I'd like to see a story about the dreads attacking the eldar.
>>23294360A grudge is a grudge, it doesn't necessarily have to be acted out in the fluff - just put a large disclaimer that "these guys fucking hate eldar and have sworn undying retribution to them". It could be part of their (slightly modified death cult beliefs after the 'treachery' encountered) that they will attack eldar and any other form of xenos on sight. Also ties in with the 'no respite, no surrender' demeanor.
>>23294555This works better, I doubt that a decimated chapter would successfully assault a craft world.
>>23294624Well, attempting an assault would certainly fit the rolls we got for the chapter... but ultimately I think it's something that should be left open ended within our fluff.
>>23294869The chapter would have died in that assault I know they are a death cult but they are also still around. We could have them attack an eldar ship.
>>23295171You misunderstood me - it is believable according to their views for them to attempt an assault (should the opportunity present itself), I'm not saying that they should get the opportunity (according to fluff) and that it should be reminded that they believe all xenos to be despicable lifeforms, especially the vile-tounged treacherous eldar.
>>23295482I agree I was just noting that fluff should allow for our chapter to survive.
>>23295510Well, 40k definately has a sense of impending doom and grim fatalism... and our chapter according to its rolls should by all means bite the dust, but we should do it in a way that is *important*. That's why the eldar were so altruistic with us - because something far worse would have happened if we hadn't stepped up when we needed to.
