You are a thirteen-year-old Zabrak girl and a Jedi Initiate, a hopeful Apprentice, named Roa Koo’lade. You have just completed your Initiate Trials, and you are now awaiting the final decisions by the Knights judging your class. During your practice match, you defeated a Bith named Bi’teme. You also watched a younger Bith named K’nona beat the fail out of a Zeltron trainee named Dhevel in a rematch after he cheated the first time. Previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/22850428/
The younglings break up into individual groups. Most of them file out of the chamber for the refreshers or a quick drink of water. Master Drallig and the present Knights gather together and begin speaking in hushed tones. Bi’teme walks over to K’nona. “You might want to have your ears checked out for any damage, Rali,” he says in concern. “That sounds like a good idea,” she admits. “They’re still ringing a bit.”They both head to a hallway that leads to the healers’ wing. Dhevel watches them go through narrowed eyes before marching down yet another hallway, one that nobody has left through. It’s clear that he wants to be alone to fume. Or to plot his revenge. You—>Follow everybody else for some refreshment. (Guardian route encounter)>Follow Bi’teme and K’nona to see if she’ll be alright. (Sentinel route encounter)>Follow Dhevel and make him apologize to K’nona. (Gray Jedi route encounter)>Stay in the chamber. (No route encounters)>I screencapped the writing posts in the first thread because I derped up a few of the scenes.
Fuck yeah, been waiting for this for a while.I imagine that this isn't the class selection, and just nudges us towards a certain way?
>>22958413Yep. You can go on the Grey Jedi route and still become a Sentinel, or whatever else you guys choose.
>>22958437I'm voting for Grey route. Grey Sentinel? Grey sentinel.
>>22958373Gray Jedi route or Sentinel route. One of the two.
>>22958373>Follow Dhevel and make him apologize to K’nona. (Gray Jedi route encounter)
>>22958455Fuck yes, Gray Sentinel.
>>22958373>>Follow Dhevel and ask him apologize to K’nona. tell it will not only boater his repetition among the masters but the students may like him a bit more for being humble.also offer to help practice sparing with him so next time he can beat her with skill alone
>Follow Dhevel.>My plan of starting early worked! You get up and surreptitiously glance around the chamber. None of the remaining trainees are looking in your direction. Neither are Master Drallig and the Knights, but you don’t think for a second that they would miss you going down the same hallway that Dhevel left through.Well, whatever. It’s not like they can condemn you for trying to ensure justice for K’nona. You keep a good thirty meters behind Dhevel, relying on your hearing and a minute application of the Force to track the Zeltron as he turns corners and passes through silent corridors. You recognize his path as leading to the Room of the Thousand Fountains—you wouldn’t have expected that of him.Maybe he’s planting a bomb there, an insidious voice whispers in the back of your head. There’s a myth among the younglings about Bruck Chun, a Dark Jedi who tried to assassinate Master Yoda with a bomb in the Room of the Thousand Fountains. You doubt that Dhevel would have the guts to do something like that, but you increase your pace regardless.Just in case.
>>22958468But Grey Jedi isn't a path, it's a philosophy. It's skirting the Dark Side without being corrupted by it.
Yo, OP, you still there?
>You guys took the Grey Jedi route.>Just as planned. You reach the entrance archway to the Room and duck behind the corner of the wall. Peering around the lintel, you see that Dhevel has stopped further inside the Room in front of a babbling stream. He shoves his hands in his pocket and stares into the reflective surface of the water.Well, he isn’t doing anything wrong by being here. You, on the other hand, look like a spy, or even worse a creepy girl stalking her crush. Suppressing a shudder, you stride into the Room and stop a moderate distance away from him. “Dhevel,” you say. “Roa,” he replies, without turning around. “What do you want?”“Apologize to K’nona.”“Isn’t her beating me enough humiliation already?”“She only injured your pride,” you say coldly. “You might have permanently injured her ears.”Dhevel whirls, his teeth bared in a snarl. “And why should I care? That’s just one less rival for me to deal with!”“What the hell is your problem?” you snap back. “Just let go and say sorry! It’ll take up maybe five seconds of your precious time!”“Easy for you to say,” he says angrily. “You won your match.”“And I didn’t cheat to do it.” You and Dhevel glare daggers at each other. “Now. Go. Apologize.”“Fuck off!”>Social check: Roll 1d20.>10+ to Intimidate.>10- to Diplomacy.
Rolled 7>>22959033Remember how last thread, we kept arguing that the grecco-roman style pounding someone into submission was a bad idea? It's sounding like a real good one right now.
Rolled 8 + 10>>22959033Hey OP if it was Justasplanned.jpg how come it took so long?Anyway, intimidate. He won't hear anything else.
>>22958455As long as we are Bindo style of Gray Sentinel.
>>22959164>>22959184Im fine with diplomacy
Rolled 12 - 10>>22959033Diplomacy, because he won't learn anything if the apology is coerced.
>>22959033>>22958373I dont think you should have clear, defined routes with clear, defined rewards like that. If you do that you get into Bioware territory where people are picking a route because it will give them +5 Gray Jedi points, not because they think its the right thing to do. And lets not forget you can always make a case for why X is a dark side action instead of a light side one and vice versa.Let us define the reasoning behind our actions rather than letting our actions define who we are.
>>22959203But with blasters.
Rolled 1>>22959277He'll learn that when someone stronger than you talks, you fucking listen. Pound him into the dirt.
>>22959286What I meant was that depending on your choice, you might have an encounter that starts you on each route. Staying on that route depends on your actions, decisions, and thought processes. I'm not keeping any points charts.
>>22959340And I'm saying you shouldnt have routes like that. I could argue why helping Knona is a grey action, or why forcing Dhevel to do something is dark, for example.
>>22959289This. A blaster, a blade, and a cortosis gauntlet.
>>22959289Bindo had nothing against blasters.
Do we have to be a Grey Jedi? Why don't we just play it straight and lead the Jedi by example. Bindo was a super-cool guy, but still.
>>22959277This. Coercion won't help here, and should only be used when needed. I didn't add any bonuses to the roll.
>>22959814Like I said, all depends on your choices.>votsno reducingMaybe, captcha. Maybe.>Diplomacy.You exhale in frustration, but refrain from further yelling. Maybe a different line of reasoning could work.“Look,” you begin, trying not to snarl, “If you apologize, then other people may just start thinking better of you.”“Oh really?” Dhevel’s voice is nonchalant, but you think you detect a hint of interest in it.“Yeah,” you say. “Some people might even help you out with your lightsaber skills, if you think you need it.”The Zeltron narrows his eyes, and for a tense moment you think you’ve gone too far, but he merely stares at you in a calculating way. “Would you help me?”“I might,” you reply cautiously.“Great.” Dhevel suddenly unhooks and activates his lightsaber. “How about a show of good faith? One duel with you, and I’ll go to K’nona.”You splutter in shock. “What? Here? Isn’t there a better place for this?”“Chicken?”>Fight him.>Convince him to go to a training room.
>>22959814Yes. We have to.
>>22959868Convince him to go to a training room. For one, the Knights will be looking for us soon. Better to be seen dueling in a training room rather than in a room reserved for contemplation. Two, if we're in a training room, even if we're late in getting back to hear the results, we won't be penalized as badly, since we'll have the excuse of training.Third, we are more likely to hear the warning that the Knights are ready to give out our results if we're in the training room.
We're not fighting him like this. We don't know what he's up to, and it serves no purpose. He will never be a loyal ally, so we don't need to appease him. Tell him to apologize, and we'll see him after the ceremony.
>>22959868"I'll happily fight you, but lets do it in the training room. This is a room for meditation!"
>>22959919What he said. There's a time and place for everything.>>22959875But why? There has to be a better reason than just "fuck the system."
>>22959951Because LS jedi dont get to be smugglers who go on crazy adventures.
No, don't go to the training room now. We don't want to be late just for shitbag. There's time afterwards.
Rolled 12>>22959868"The room of a thousand fountains. You remember why this place was built, of course? A place to meditate and free yourself from troubles. If this fight will ease your mind, so be it.">fight him.
>>22959972That's just being selfish, though. Who's to say there won't be any adventures when working as a LS Jedi?
>>22960004I like this. Any more votes?
>>22960040Different anon here, but I want to go Gray Jedi because I want to master our emotions, not reject them like the Jedi or be mastered by them like the Sith.I think it's a more balanced and ultimately more tenable position than to constantly deny our emotions or to be controlled by them.
>>22960089No. I don't agree with that. We can't be getting into fights right after the exams.
>>22960089No, we will be late to the ceremony. Try being more impartial; you should not be influencing our decisions. See my posts>>22959936and>>22959990Also, >>22959972, stop trying to fag this up. Make a new thread if you want to be Harrison Ford.
>>22960004yea say that
>>22960118Now that's a good reason. I'd prefer being a grey paragon of good myself.
>>22960118Seconded. I want to walk this path not for power, glory, or for others, but because it is the sanest choice and the path that SHOULD be walked.
>>22960134Chill out, tripfuck. I was just saying what >>22960118 said, that Grays are the only one allowed to have a personality. Of course, that doesnt mean we have to take the edgiest response available at every turn, I just want a little more leeway than what light or dark side offers us.
>>22960177I am totally fine with that.
>>22960134I was talking about the reasoning. You're the character, you control Roa through the votes. And almost everybody's voted diplomacy. Well, I'll try to incorporate >>22960004 in a future thread.
>>22960185Sorry, then. I thought you were saying we should start smuggling in the future.>>22960205My bad. I didn't need to be so dickish.
>>22960177Like I said, Bindo. He wanted people to do good, but he wanted them to know WHY it was good to do good, not just blindly follow teachings and bleat out Jedi sayings like an unthinking parrot.
>>22960185No you weren't.All you said was that you wanted to go off and be a smuggler and have adventure. On the road of being Gray, it's more than likely we will have adventure, but having adventure, or being a smuggler, is no way the end goal of being a Gray Jedi.So of course he'll assume that all you want is to be a smuggler Jedi adventurer; that's the only thing you said.
By the way, OP, awesome thread. I love this kind of shit and am really happy you made it.

Damn i was a bit late.Oh well just gonna chime in for the other side and say we go grey guardian route and gather allies for skills (guardian doesn't mean brute it just means a martial focus). Considering the time period (although alternate universe is possible) martial prowess will help us survive and fits better with our current lightsaber style.
Training room. And it was a mistake going for the the lightsaber training tactic. It's not us he wants to endear himself to, it's the Masters.
(It's been over 2 hours since OP last posted. Fuck this, I'm out.)(And I think you called this Forever Knight Quest, OP. I think.)
I hope OP didn't get autobanned. That happens a lot with some quests.I guess we'll find out in about 3 hours when today's bans reset.
Sorry guys, RL stuff intruded. A friend of mine needed a ride. The writing is coming along.
>>22962075Still patiently waiting.
>Convince him to go to a training room.“No, just not stupid,” you retort. “Why fight here when we can just go to a training room?”Dhevel looks like he’s about to argue, again, before he snorts derisively and deactivates his weapon. “Fine, whatever the lady says.”You wordlessly turn your back on him and walk out the entrance arch. There’s a suite of dueling chambers not too far from here, you recall, not particularly large ones, but suitable enough for two people. You just hope you don’t run into anybody there, especially not any full Jedi. That might lead to some awkward questions.Several minutes pass as you lead Dhevel through the winding hallways towards your destination. The Zeltron doesn’t say a word in that time, but you can feel his anticipation building in the Force. Finally you reach a low-ceilinged, metal-walled corridor with twelve doors running its length, six on each side. You select the furthest one down on the left.“No cheap shots,” you say as you and he enter the room, “No low blows, and no Force tricks. Just lightsabers. Savvy?”“As Master Koo’lade wishes,” he says sarcastically. The training room has bare metal walls just like the corridor outside and several illumination strips set into the ceiling. An eight-meter-diameter circle of red paint takes up most of the floor. You and Dhevel take places at opposite ends of the circle; you simultaneously activate your lightsabers with twin snap-hisses.>Combat check. Roll 2d20.

If we beat him by force there's as good a chance of him seeking vengeance and/or holding a grudge against us for cheating. If we beat him following the rules even if he tries cheating when he starts losing then he will at least get a starting point to improve himself by hitting bottom thanks to his overconfidence (this only works if we beat him completely).
>>22962607Yes we could do that...Or we could cheat.

> (13+12+12+8+18)/5 = 13.You let Dhevel take the initiative with the first strike. He charges at you with a textbook thrust; your lightsaber flashes down to knock it aside before swinging back in a horizontal slash aimed his chest. Dhevel barely manages to leap back from your counterattack. You’re a tall, statuesque girl, very strong for your age. The Zeltron is slightly taller than you, with better reach, but you’re probably as strong as or even stronger than he is. With both of your respective styles primarily focused on using physical strength to overwhelm opponents, this is an advantage for you.Dhevel abruptly flips his lightsaber into a reverse grip. An interesting move—that grip is signature of Shien, and while it allows a user to increase the power and range of their strikes, it is also unwieldy and imprecise compared to your conventional two-hand fore-grip. You attack this time with a mighty overhead slash. Dhevel catches it, clearly straining to hold you back with only one hand. You notice him draw his other hand back, probably in preparation for a Force push, and immediately you smash your blade down against his again, almost breaking through his guard. A third strike to his midsection, this one also blocked, makes him stagger back.Pressing the attack, you pound away at his defense with swift, powerful blows, driving him back across the circle. Dhevel manages to duck the last one and drops low to sweep your legs out, knocking you to the ground with an undignified oof. You look up to see the Zeltron raising his lightsaber high and manage to roll away before he stabs down, sinking his blade into the durasteel floor up to the hilt.Scowling, you jump to your feet, stepping forward and hammering your lightsaber into his so hard that Dhevel skids back half a meter. You step forward again and drive him to his knees with another overhead slash.>1/2
>>22962869So your plan is, show him that cheating ends badly, by cheating. Congratulations, you are proposing the "raping for chastity" solution. You fucking moron.
>>22963047>raping for chastityI don't even understand what that's supposed to mean.Anyway, the point is, this guy is a fucking asshole with a power trip, the only thing that stops an asshole with a power trip, is to show them that someone stronger than them isn't going to tolerate their shit.
>>22963089And the best way to do that is schooling him WITHOUT dirty tricks, to prove that we don't need to fight dirty to fight stronger than him.
>>22963089>I don't even understand what that's supposed to mean. You seriously don't get that I'm drawing a parallel to your self-contradictory action? Cheating for fair play is like raping for chastity. The means is completely counter to the goal. Do you get it NOW?>>22963089>the only thing that stops an asshole with a power trip, is to show them that someone stronger than them isn't going to tolerate their shit. And we don't need to cheat to do that.
>>22963143I don't think he understands what "raping for chastity" is.
I think OP died.
>>22963047"There's always a bigger fish. That's why I'm bouncing you off the floor right now."
>>22963547Except that, again, we can do THE EXACT SAME THING, WITHOUT CHEATING, AND THUS WITHOUT UNDERMINING OUR POINT THROUGH SELF-CONTRADICTION!
Just doing the "lol we're stronger so we're in the right" is just going to send Dhevel on a power seeking trip to the dark side. Sure it's a given that the rival is going to fall to the dark side, but we don't need to be the reason he does so.Just defeat him and keep the cheating/gloating to a minimum and try to steer Dhevel towards repenting for his actions.
>>22963593"You're a bully and a cheater. See how it feels to be bullied and cheated? Hurts, doesn't it?"
>>22963626But that makes US a bully and a cheater!
>>22963616That's entire point of this exercise right now: getting him to own up to playing dirty during his duel in the exams.
>>22963639But with the moral highground.
>>22963657That makes us an even bigger cunt.
We said we would spar him so he would get better, and that's what we'll do. Jedi don't lie.
>>22963616This guy has the right idea.Too bad everyone is just going to ignore it.>Hurr hurr have a taste of your own medicine *smug*instead of reaching out and showing a better alternative.
>>22963657No. You forfeit any high ground as soon as you stoop to his level. You beat him fairly or you're exactly the same as he is.
>>22963657No. It makes us a self-righteous cunt. The only thing he's GUILTY of, is being a cheating cunt. We make our point more effectively by slapping his shit fairly and saying "There's always a bigger fish, Dhevel. See what happens when you cheat to get by? When the bigger fish shows up, you lose. You might have stood a chance, if you spent less time scheming ways to cheat, and more time on honest practice."
>>22963704>Too bad everyone is going to ignore it.Out of the five-ish people in this thread, only one of them is calling out to cheat.
>>22963704Actually, everyone is agreeing with >>22963616 and calling the other guy a cunt.
Yeah, OP is dead.
After he is defeated go over his flaws. Praise his strengths and start demonstrating how to use second to fix the first. Remember we want to show him that he doesn't need to cheat to win. Honesty, hard work and integrity is what a jedi needs to defeat their foes. Cunning has its place but not at the price of inviting hatred.Op just takes a while to post. Was like that in the first thread too. Doesn't mean its not worth the wait.
>>22964050Bueeno. We did say we might teach him if he apologized.
> (13+18+16+19+2)/5 = 14>I forgot to add “10+ to succeed.”>2/2Dhevel looks desperate as you slowly bear down on down on your crossed blades, pushing them ever closer to his face. He clearly can’t resist for much longer with only one hand, and he can’t change his grip now. Instead he sends you flying back with a Force push. For the second time in ten seconds, you fall flat on your ass against the cold, hard floor, this time dangerously close to the edge of the circle. On the opposite side, Dhevel sprints forward and leaps high into the air, howling as he stabs his lightsaber down at you. You jerk yourself to the side, ignoring the searing heat from the laser sword as it embeds itself into the ground where your head was a moment ago.“Got you,” he pants. Now he’s almost straddling you, crouching over your left leg.“Nope,” you reply, grabbing his shoulder and shoving as hard you can. Dhevel rolls with the momentum and manages to rise to his feet, but by then you’re already up and swinging a diagonal slash down on his head. The duel shifts back and forth across the circle as you and Dhevel—who’s returned to a forehand grip—hack away at each other with brutal abandon. Both of you smash your lightsabers into each other’s again and again with the screeching hums and thunderous crackles of clashing energy, searching for weaknesses, trying to overwhelm and pummel down the other with every scrap of power you can muster. Finally, he overextends himself with a lunging thrust and stumbles a bit, weakening his footing. With a flick of your wrist, you swat his blade out of his hand, and then bring yours to his throat.
“I win,” you say hoarsely, breathing hard. Your heart is pounding and your lungs feel raw, but you barely sense the stinging in the rush of adrenaline. “You see? You can win without resorting to cheap tricks.”“That’s…that’s because…” Dhevel pauses to gulp in more air. “You’re a—”Whatever he was about to say was cut off by the sound of clapping. Both of you go ashen as you realize you have an audience.
>>22964050I'd say don't just start lecturing him and instead tell him that if he chooses we can help him in improving. Otherwise follow that train of thought.

Given the nature of the Force, they might just burn him alive, but you won’t get your hopes up. “Dhevel just wanted a practice spar with me.”“Ah, I see,” Plo Koon says in That Way that tells you he doesn’t believe you. “Well, in that case, might I offer you two a few suggestions for improvement?”“Of course, Master,” you say somewhat warily.1/2
“First, Youngling Arjun, you’re skilled with the Shien reverse grip, but you may not want to use it against an opponent who can match you in strength. Yours today could have disarmed you multiple times if she had had greater experience. I liked the timing of your Force pushes, but you telegraphed your follow-up strikes far in advance. You may also want to use a greater variety of attacks.”“Youngling Koo’lade, you’re one of the best Djem So practitioners I have ever seen among the trainees. Barring a few common mistakes, I haven’t seen a single fault in your dueling abilities. The OP seemed like he was willing to put a lot of time into this thread, and meme-spouting bullshit is indicative of a bad direction the thread is heading. There are plenty of threads on here where that is appropriate; this one really wasn't. That's not to say that humor doesn't have a place in threads/games like this, but that should grow organically, rather than forced injections of tired memes. There has to be someone better than me you could make this offer to…”“Perhaps,” Koon agrees. “But what I look for is compatibility, not quality. I look at you and I see someone I can teach all that I have learned. I see someone who can appreciate placing justice over protocol and focus on doing good over everything else.”“I will admit that sometimes I become frustrated with the Council’s…deliberation. The Kel Dor people have a strong black and white view of morality, and I see that you do too. You may have restrained yourself from calling out Youngling Arjuna earlier to avoid interrupting the Trials, but the moment you had a chance you took it upon yourself to see out the justice due to Youngling K’nona, regardless of the disapproval of your elders. So, just to keep some discussion going, thoughts on how we're going to construct or lightsaber when the time comes?
>>22966721Wait Jedi construct their own lightsabers? I'll be honest, I know near nothing about the setting (and as such haven't been doing much voting or idea suggesting). What are the different ways of doing this?
>>22966721Is our jedi (a girl, right?) currently using a two-handed stance?I would say either a longer than standard handle (think a Light-Claymore), or as someone suggested before switching to main-hand saber and off-hand blaster.Or even have it as a Hand-and-a-Half Saber.
>>22966721We will create the mighty quad saber!
>>22966721I say we go with a more nonstandard color like orange, though we are not nearly black enough to us a purple saber.
>>22966751I like the idea of a slightly larger than standard saber and maybe a external yet detachable extra power hook up to make it a really big blade
>>22966721Our form focuses on strength so a long handle saber would work best (more leverage) and as far as colour I'd say we go into the depths of one of the sources of crystals and find one there.
>>22966741Yes, they construct a lightsaber that becomes "theirs". When they are first chosen as an apprentice, their master gives them a 'saber to use, but this is not the one that will be "theirs". The construction of one's own lightsaber is a major rite of passage among the Jedi. And there is a HUGE range of variance. Different hilt shapes and lengths (curved hilts are popular with practitioners of Form II, which is basically lightsaber fencing, for example), different blade lengths to preference, dual-phase sabers which have a switch to adjust length with the press of a button to catch your foe off-guard, Shoto (which are essentially a lightsaber main-gauche), hell lightsaber polearms are even a thing although very rare (Kazdan Paratus being the only known Jedi to use one), dual 'sabers that hook together into a double-bladed, there's all kinds of options.http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightsaber>>22966786Dual-phase 'saber, doesn't actually require any extra power, is just harder to make.http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dual-phase_lightsaber
>>22966786One of those old power cables/box combos, so we can plug it in and make it in to a slightly less flexible yet 10+ foot thick as hell Lance Saber.Or, another suggestion, make a guard (either cross-guard, knuckle guard, or even a guard similar to a foil's) out of one of the saber-proof materials.I vote either Hand-and-a-Half or Light Foil
>>22966820Thats pretty cool. Thanks for the info anon.
>>22966767...>One core saber, longer than average handle with the three clip-on ports>Three dual-phase that could be used in the off-hand or combined on the bottom of the main saber at standard length for a dual saber>>One of them is dual-phase and becomes shorter>>The second becomes longer>>The third is dual-phase but becomes thicker instead of longer>Can all attach in to a Light Glaive and be force thrown in a whirlwind of painSo fucking versatile.Fund it.
>>22966846>out of one of the saber-proof materials.Where the kriff are we gonna get Frik? Then again, Clone wars aren't for another eight years or so, which means that it's not like the stuff's being fought over yet.>>22966937>glaiveI do not think that word means what you think it means.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glaive
>>22966962Then what are those giant throwing 'stars' called? Starcraft had Glaive Worms, Warcraft had Glaives everywhere, so does Legal Legends. The hell are they called?
that kind of glaive is purely fictional
>>22966820>lightsaber polearms are even a thing although very rare (Kazdan Paratus being the only known Jedi to use one)Lightsvardstav?Lightsvardstav.Dual-phase saber, full length and a length somewhere between standard and a shoto, that can attach to a staff made of Frik.>>22966981A hollywood invention. The first appearance of one was in Krull, and that was also the first instance of it being called a Glaive. Well, actually, it was "The Glaive", seeing as it was an ancient magical weapon of immense power.
>>22966846>Light FoilYou mean just, like, a foil-esque lightsaber, or the thing popular with Tapani nobles?http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lightfoil
>>22967020Either could work, I wouldn't argue it>>22967013And so is Star Wars, so there you go.>>22967019Neat.tiff, thanks for the info.So if everyone understood what I meant, and this is a fantasy setting with the Force in it that would make it a viable choice, why even point it out?
>>22966981As far as I can tell that's a Blizzard thing calling those Glaives.
>>22967039A foil-esque listsaber. Full power with a reliable guard.
>>22967053They're referencing Krull when they do that man. How have you NOT seen Krull?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krull_%28film%29
>>22967067Nope. I thought it was a fantasy-setting exotic weapon thing, not a hollywood one-off thing.
>>22967019>FrikPhrik, dude. With a PH-And we can always go looking for some Cortosis. We have any mandalorian buddies?
>>22967090Other people started doing it in reference to Krull, because Krull is fucking awesome and deserves to be referenced. Seriously, watch Krull.
One really big saber, with three cutting blades focused all in one direction. Lifts, cuts, and cauterizes. Also a cortosis glove with focus crystals that we can use as a shield thing.
>>22967108I'll put it on "The List".There are currently 118 movies ahead of it.
....Just use a regular blade.
I say we do get a light glaive though. I mean, there is no tradition more ancient than sticking your weapon on the end of a poll! Even prostitution came after that.
>>22967111Cortosis weave or true cortosis? A full cortosis gauntlent would be hella expensive and super-heavy, I think.
>>22967133Plus fragile as fuck. Pure Cortosis is very brittle, making it only really useful for it's ability to say "fuck you" to lightsabers.
>>22967133Cortosis weave also OP are you alive?
>>22967132I'm pretty sure you don't know exactly how old prostitution is.It's so old that, when chimps were taught the concept of money, the first thing they did was bought sex from other chimps. It's so old it's pre-programmed.
>>22967133Well the cost might be a problem, but the weight is something you train with and use the force for. I'm not sure a weave gauntlet is good enough to perform blade grasps.
>>22967159how about some small pure pads in the palm and claws ?
>>22967159Couldn't you focus the force in to your hand and train yourself to the point where summoning the force to repel a saber becomes instinctual?Better question: Can you repel the blade of a light saber with the force?
>>22967154And what's the first thing kids do when playing with markers? Putting the pokey bit further away from you is also pre-programmed
>>22967129Define "regular blade", every lightsaber is ever-so-slightly different.>>22967159I you wanna do blade grasps, look into studying Tutaminis.http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tutaminis
>>22967159Weave is good enough to preform blade grasps, the pure stuff turns the damn things off when it touches them..
>>22967178I guess that could work, how did Vader block those blaster shots? Was it cause he was a cyborg, something in his armor, or a force power?Telling rogues with itchy trigger fingers to talk to the hand would be great.
So can we go for something that actually works for our form?Such as my earlier suggestion of just going long blade for better leverage and easy swap to one handed.
>>22967198thought he did that with the Force.
>>22967188>look into studying TutaminisThat has a name? I always just thought of it as "that energy dickery thing the Halcyon lie were unusually gifted in">>22967198See >>22967188
>>22967218Halcyon LINE, not lie.
>>22967185Markers =/= weaponsAcknowledging sharpness =/= making spears"putting the pokey bit further away from you" =/= "sticking your weapon on the end of a poll"
>>22967209resuggesting Hand-and-a-Half Saber.
Getting a little too fancy with the magic laser sword designs, guys.maybe dial back on that a bit.
>>22967232>not going full lightzweihanderThe weight isn't even an issue because the only part we carry around is the hilt!
>>22967232I do like this idea, and seeing how we use a two handed fighting style, this choice would be for the best. not to mention later we still could use it in 1 hand and still use a blaster.
>>22967240Totally this. Whats wrong with a slightly longer saber?
>>22967226heyyou're engaging in a pointless argument. please stop.anyways, I vote for sticking with a standard saber construction unless our master suggests something much much more beneficial for our fighting style.
>>22967245A handle that's too long would still be cumbersome, though. Bumping in to your arm and stuff. It would enhance your power but limit your finesse.I forget, though, Form V? Did that have much finesse?
>>22967261"Boo you whore" on both topics.
>>22967182Yes, actually. You can focus the Force and stop a saber yourself. Here's a picture of Satele Shan, descendant of Revan and Bastila Shan, Jedi Grandmaster of her era, and one of the strongest people in the galaxy at the time, doing exactly that.
>>22967262Yes, it does. It's actually the form in which reverse grips are most often used.
>>22967261I vote this. But in the mean time let's discuss the virtue of the quad saber >>22966767
>>22967262Form V is setup to defend then counter with extreme force and has a bunch of techniques for getting within blade reach quickly. So long handle is better for the form.
>>22967280Okay, then, I suggest that Koolaid learn how to do this, and then just rip sabers out of the hands of people.>>22967285Hand-and-a-Half it is? At least inquire about a Hand-and-a-Half Saber, OP.
>>22967304Also remember that Vader stops Han Solo's blaster shots in episode V just by blocking them with his hand.
>>22967304Keep in mind that if you fuck up a Force Parry/Block, your limb is done for. Satele is only doing that in the picture because she was disarmed and cornered by the enemy Sith.
>>22967338Doesn't hurt to practice it, though, right? Useful in a pinch.
>>22967338True. To be able to do it reliably, on a regular basis, you pretty much have to be Nejaa Halcyon.
>>22967304I think hand and a half is only slightly longer than normal a true long handle is big enough that you can easily change the reach with a change of hand position
>>22967357"Hey Bi'teme, c'mere for a sec.""Yeah, what is it Koo'lade?"hold our hand up"I want you to push the end of your lightsaber through my hand."
>>22967374That's bordering on lightpike there, though. And if we wanted to do lightpike, we'd need to get Kazdan Paratus to teach us how it works.>>22967359And he could only do it that well because his player was a minmaxing bag of dicks who gave up pretty much all telekinetic abilities for MOAR TUTAMINIS and MOAR ILLUSIONS.
>>22967384Fuck yes.>>22967374True, but the Hand-and-a-Half gives plenty of space for using both hands in a powerful swing as well as the finesse of a one-handed weapon, while a longer handle would give us greater range and leverage at the cost of finesse.
>>22967406I know that they were just the only pictures I found.essentially though it's a double blade hilt with one opening and an extra long blade
>>22967384So we start off doing it with training sabers. A lot. Until we can do it without even trying too hard. THEN we start doing it with the real thing.
>>22967428no, we use real sabers to begin with, sometimes you have to run before you can walk
>>22967639Enjoy your chopped off hand. Seriously, it's a high-level application of the ability, and EXTREMELY difficult.
So where the fuck is OP?
>>22967639>sometimes you have to run before you can walkNo. No you don't. Who says that? Anyone who says you can do the fancy stuff before you learn the most basic of basics is dumb.

You—You decide to start walking like a normal person after getting odd looks from a few passing staff. “Master,” you ask, “Exactly what are those common mistakes in my dueling style that you mentioned?”“Minor things,” Koon replies. “Footwork, of course—that’s always difficult. You’ll also want to practice strategic control of your strikes’ power to conserve your energy. You’re not sure how many were chosen as apprentices.Bi’teme is the first to hiss out a question. “How did you get apprenticed to a Council Master?!”“Awesome luck,” you say sweetly.“Congratulations,” K’nona says brightly. “Master Swan chose me as her apprentice.”You congratulate her in return. “What about you, Bi’teme?”“Master Trebor,” he replies, inclining his head towards a brown-skinned Vurk. “Good for you,” someone says morosely from behind him.All three of you turn around to see a sullen-looking Dhevel. “I wasn’t chosen,” he continues. “I suppose this is good riddance, then.”K’nona starts to speak as the Zeltron walks away.“Don’t,” you say quietly. “You’ll just make him angrier.”>And that’s it for tonight. Next thread is next Saturday.
>>22968826That only took forever, but incoming BBEG.
>>22968826cool beans. thanks for running this OP.
>>22968840inb4 we are awesome and fast track our way to a council position and take Dhevel as our apprentice
>>22968918Can that happen? I thought apprentices were thrown out if they sat too long, like fruit?
>>22968932If they remain unselected for too long, they are sent to the Agricultural Corps. They do good work, but it's just not the same as being an Apprentice, and eventually a Knight. It's like if the kid who wanted to be a fighter pilot wound up a cab driver.
>>22968946That's a bummer. Do they still get force fun and light sabers?
>>22968918>>Fast track>>Implying anything in this quest is fast>>Like the OPs posting speedpolite sage as the thread is over for the day
>>22968965Read up, man.http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Jedi_Service_Corpshttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Agricultural_CorpsObi-Wan Kenobi himself damn near wound up there actually, because Qui-Gon had issues over his previous Padawan falling and didn't want to take another one.
>>22968965Apparently not, if only Padawans can construct new lightsabers. I may have to retcon Roa and company's sabers as being training weapons.
>>22968840He is our Rosh.
>>22969011Nah, he's nowhere near bitchy enough to be Rosh. Seriously, the way they wrote Rosh was BRILLIANT. By the time you get the choice, they've made you HATE the little sprick. I really wish they'd just let you choose whether to kill him or not WITHOUT making the fact that it was the Light/Dark branch point so bleeding obvious.
>>22969344Nah, if anything he's our Bruck Chun. However, you're mah nigga for having read the Jedi Apprentice books.
