I want to generator a whole star system for something I'm planning. Not sure if I'll just do some writefaggan/storytiman/questan but I want to get your guys help in fluffing it out.Basically, my plan is to have a Space Marine Chapter for this sytem, the reason they've been sent there is unknown. Maybe the whole system is populated by Tombworlds and they need something to stop them, or perhaps this Chapter is so terribly they just can't be put anywhere else. But first of all I need to come up with a Chapter. Roll 1d10 for the reason it was founded.>Captcha - Lord Taldzer>Yes my Lord, I'm asking them now...
Rolled 10To get phat l00tz to fund the super Imperial Guard.
>>22932699>>22932702>No Crusade for us'Counter' - The Chapter was founded to counter a specific threat, we'll shove the last table (enemies) here so we can find out what we were meant to battle.Roll 1d100 for enemies
i can't into rolling. how do i do it, precious?
Rolled 41>>22932715A group of Rogue Traders that have been tainted by chaos and are running the Red Light District of the galaxy.
Rolled 87>>22932715Chaos Tyranids.
>>22932726Put 'dice+#d##' in the e-mail field. There's a post on the very first thread about it that will always be there.
Rolled 60>>22932733fuck. herp derp
so, wait, im not actually rolling a table, i'm supposed to roll and suggest something?
>>22932684http://donjon.bin.sh/that is all
>>22932727'The Eldar'OK good, so we've been created to destroy the Not-Elves. Alternatively we could have been made to plague nearby Craftworlds, or just assassinate a particularly difficult Farseer.1d100 for when our Eldar-slayer Chapter was founded!
Rolled 27>>22932754so i guess you do have a table
Rolled 19>>22932754Perhaps these are Eldar that hold some STC in their grasp, and our chapter was founded to protect the Mechanicus from them?
>>22932761>I'm getting the shit from 1d4chan. I can't be bothered to find the tables as pictures, but I will at some point.'35th Millenium'I don't think there was a particular founding at this time, so we have have been the only Chapter to be created. I know that the Tau were first contacted in the 35th Millenium, so we possibly were created in order to quell any alliances they may make with the Eldar.>brb 2 minutes will continue then
Rolled 71>>22932788probably a lot more significant things happened in M35 than just the apperance of the tau, also, that would narrow down your location area to the east
Counter ThreatCreated to destroy the EldarFounded in 35th MilleniumRoll 1d100 for our Chapters Progenitor.
Rolled 5>>22932833either take my roll above or use these
>>22932684Have a look at Rogue Trader's "Stars of Iniquity", it has full rules for randomly generating star systems.
Rolled 44>>22932848The smurfs?
>>22932848>>22932813Fuck the top roll, we're not coming from the Ultramarines. Our Chapter progenitor was the Dark Angels! The very first Chapter to be founded, and one that stayed loyal after the Horus Heresy.Roll 1d10 for our gene-seed purity.
Rolled 4>>22932879NONE PURER.Perhaps the Imperium noticed the Eldar coming into contact with the Tau and they decided to create this chapter just in case something happened?Or the entire sector is just dormant craftworlds.
Rolled 6>>22932879either alternative makes us our progenitors bitch
>>22932895>NONE PURERGood roll. We suffer no Chapter Flaws or Gene-seed deficiencies. Maybe the stay system we're based on has a few worlds that the Tau are looking at, but within close proximity to the Eldar as well.I'm sure all will be revealed soon enough.Roll 1d10 for Chapter Demeanour!
Rolled 7>>22932908We like to kick ass. especially xeno ass. and we don't go about kissing ass our make exuses or let anything get in the way of kicking xeno ass
Rolled 10>>22932908Rollin'.Still, the chapter was made specifically to fight Eldar in the Sector, the Tau would come possibly later.Would a huge dormant Webway gate (like the relays from Mass Effect) be a good reason to create a Chapter?
>>22932914>I love you anon."Suffer Not The Alien To Live!"We are incredibly harsh with our treatment of Xenos. Fitting really, as we were created to kill them. The Dark Angels use the Watchers In The Dark extensively, we would not tolerate such filth.Roll 1d100 for our Figure of Legend!
Rolled 26>>22932926Rollin'.Our Chapter Master?
>>22932933>GloriousBy sheer coincidence, our legendary figure is our Chapter Master. Let's see what he did, and then we'll fluff him out as well.1d100 for his 'Deed of Legend'
Rolled 20>>22932926no idea what to say about this one. Except he was obviously a kicker of xeno butt. perhaps he was our founder and he went to the death watch where he learned deeply to hate the alien. a hate all of his chapter now shares. Still send people to DW every chance we get, to learn ever new ways to not suffering the alien to live
Rolled 24>>22932940Holy shit, I got 2 right.Let's see. He fought Xenos?
Any fluff you right for the rolls will be ignored (unless it's what the table says).I'm getting the results from the Creation tables, so if you roll for 'Orc Slayers' and say we're bred to kill Chaos we'll still be Orc Slayers. But, with cases outside of rolls (Chapter Master fluff) all of that is more that welcome.
Rolled 60>>22932940either he destroyed a minor xeno civilization or thwarted the hated eldar. perhaps wrecked a craftworld
>>22932951the point is to write fluff that fits with you rolled, of course
>>22932949>A little divergent, but still fitting. Our Chapter Master was known for plauging the Orks at every turn. His name is still remember by the foul green-skins to this day.SHould we try and fluff him out a bit now, or wait until we get the whole Chapter creation done?
Rolled 4>>22932961Get the whole lot done.
>>22932961you say that in past tense. i would assume we still have a chapter master, unless you mean our founder, who'd likely not be around anymore.
Rolled 60>>22932961Let's get the whole thing done.
>>22932965>>22932974>I just mean names and shit, it'll be our current Chapter Master.Taking that roll as our homeworld.'Hive World'.1d100 for the terrain of said Hive World
Rolled 19>>22932986A big run down one?
Rolled 65>>22932986A DEATH WORLD.
Say, why can't we just skip the rolls and ........... forget it.
>>22933003Jungle.Ok.....So our homeworld consists of massive amounts of humans, based in a thick Jungle like setting. Loads of humans to recruit from, they're going to be tougher than your average Joe due to the fact that it's in a jungle, but not as tough as a Feral-Worlder of course.1d10 for the 'Rule Of Homeworld'
Rolled 4>>22933024Wait, a Hive world and a jungle? Do they live in trees like Kashyyyk?
Rolled 8>>22933024we da bausses of course
>>22933042>Wookie Marines'Stewardship'.So have a very large say in how the planet runs thing. Management of resources, defense, Mehreen recruitment that sort of thing, however we have people in charge of running the planet on a day-to-day basis.Ok cool, 1d10 for Chapter Organisation
>>22933079Codex-Adherent.We follow the Codex Astartes to the letter, and as such I'm sure we have good standings with the Ultramarines.1d10 for Combat Doctrine.
>>22933100>STEEL REHN'Drop-pods'So we arrive unto the enemy as a swarm of drop-pods, blotting out the sun and ruining the landscape just by appearing there. Due to our Hive-World heritage I'm sure there's no shortage of us pouring out of these things.1d100 for Chapter Beliefs
Rolled 14>>22933125Rollin'.If we're going with the hive-in-trees thing, I vote that our drop-pods look like acorns.
Rolled 96>>22933125i dbout we can blot out out the sun except for those few enemies we land directly on. i mean, we're 1000 guys, that logically means we could at the very most, rain down 1000 pods at any one time. And its a bigass sky
>>22933132'Revere the Primarch'So we think our Primarch, The Lion, was better than everyone else. And he was, I mean hell, he had the first Chapter for Emperors-sake.Last few rolls and then I'll combine all this and we'll start to fluff out a little more.1d10 for the Chapter Strength
Rolled 10>>22933155we like spraying our foes with hot pulsating white plasma?
>>22933169'Over-Strength'Oh fuck yes. However, this isn't allowed in the Codex Astartes. Did we get permission to recruit more units due to the new terrors of the Tau?Muse on this while we roll the last.1d100 for Chapter Allies
Rolled 15>>22933189Or the dormant craftworld inhabited only by wraith constructs.
Rolled 6>>22933189I suppose having a few extra chapters do to a bookkeeping error is out of the question?
Rolled 9>>22933229and by chapter i of course mean companies
>>22933203>You were given permission from the very top to recruit more Marines than are usually present in a Chapter. Due to the close proximity of the Eldar Craftworld and the new Tau presence, extra measures had to be taken in order to stop the Xenos alliance before it even began.'Adeptus Arbites'You have a friend in the Adeptus Arbites. the police of the Imperium. They enforce the Imperial Law, I'm sure they have a great time on our Hive World.Right I'm gonna go through this thread, put together what we've got, and then we can fill in the holes.
>Counter Threat - Eldar>Founded in 35th Millenium>Progenitor is the Dark Angels - Lion El'Johnson is our Spiritual Liege and is therefore better then everyone else>Gene-seed is pure, no flaws or defects>We hate all Xenos with a passion, especially the Eldar>Our Chapter Master was renowned for killing Orks>Our homeworld is a Hive-World based on a Jungle, we have stewardship over the whole planet, and essentially control it>We follow the Codex religiously>We are over strength, due to the necessity of killing the Eldar, and our opening gambit is Steel Rehn, where we bombard them with drop-pods and then swarm out like a group of ants.>We have an ally in the Adeptus Arbites, no doubt as they police the shit out of our Hive-World.Right, should we fluff out our Chapter Master, or try and come up with a name/colour scheme?
Rolled 57>>22933316Let's go with the Chapter Master. The Eldar directed a massive Waaagh! into our system, and he managed to beat it back and reclaim lost territory?
>>22933316What about rolling from enemy ?
>>22933397So we've got 2 nearby star systems, one has the Eldar in (possibly the whole thing is Eldar and has a number of Craftworlds), the other is where we are based. The Eldar, being the crafty bastards that they were, managed to re-direct an Ork Waaagh! to our system. Our name-less Chapter Master managed to beat them back, what a guy!I like it.
Rolled 77>>22933424Or, how about this:The planets in our system are dormant tomb worlds, and that's the reason for frequent Eldar raids. The Eldar suspect the Necron are going to awake soon, and directed the Waaagh! there to buy them some time to move the craftworld away. Our Chapter Master screwed them over, however, when he beat back the Orks.
>>22933451How would the Eldar have known the Tombs were goingto be awakening soon? The Eldar aren't fucking magicians. They're the smartest thing in the galaxy, but they can't predict the... well actually they can, can't they? Okay nevermind. So the Eldar predict the future and see the Tomb world awakening. Redirect Orks into our system, we beat them back and now we're on the offensive against both Eldar and Tomb Kings?
>>22933473Well we're always on the offensive against the Eldar. We don't know about the Tombworlds just yet.
>>22933486So do we attack their Craftworld? I mean their could be elderly and children on board...
>>22933486This. The Necrons haven't awoken yet. We're fighting against Orks now (the remains of the redirected Waagh) and some Eldar who mostly do a swift hit-and-run attack as a diversion. The need to quickly respond to Eldar attacks explains why we use drop-pods so often. Also, because of the Eldar sabotage, we need to keep a strong police force to monitor suspicious activities.>>22933505I'd say that we know a craftworld is somewhere nearby, but we haven't found it yet.The Eldar are desperately trying to haul ass away from the awakening Necron threat.
Is it bad that I'm more interested in the Craftworld than the SM chapter?
>>22933505>elderly>not "Eldarly"Missed a golden opportunity there
>>22933567Yes, but don't worry. I plan on doing a star system, so there'll be plenty more threads like this.I'll do one for the Eldar Craftworld and the Ork Waaagh that was stopped. So an Eldar Farseer saw one of the worlds was infested with Necrons. He organised the re-direction of an Ork Waaagh to that planet so that the Necrons would have to fight something first. However we got in the way of that, and our Chapter Master is venerated by us due to his use of (tactics/weapons?)I think it's time to name our brave CM.
>>22933601Maximus Decimus Meridius. Husband to a murdered wife. Father of a murdered son.
>>22933639I like this, can our whole Chapter have an underworld-theme to it?
>>22933717It's a bit ironic, considering the Necrons underneath us, but yes, let's have an underworld theme.
>>22933717Charon in Greek mythology used a hammer, so our Charon would be swinging around one of these babies during the WAAAGH!I'm gonna list just some random Underworld stuff and we'll try and get the name out of it;HadesStyxAcheronCerberusShadesTartarusLetheI think it'd be cool if our Chapter was the 'The Shades'.
>>22933807-The Shades Vigil-Underworld-themed Chapter who are constantly battling away every Xenos known to mankind.Yay or Nay?
>>22933807Tartarus has got to be a penal world in the Hades system. The planet where we spent most of our time during our vigil is Cerberus.Acheron is the world where most fighting occured.
Saga Venatores.Witch hunters in Latin.
The Chapter name might have to wait for a bit then.So how does our Hive-world work? Is it mighty towers filled with billions of people, with harsh jungle in between? Or do we just have gigantic tribes living within?Do the Arbites police our world, or did we do them a favour in the past?
>>22933970I'm in favor of that Kashyyyk thing.Or, how about this:There are huge domes in which the old jungles are kept, because the local wildlife has a lot of medical purposes. Also because some rich pricks enjoy hunting. Think of them as natural preserves and proving grounds. As for the Arbites, we needed them because of constant Eldar sabotages, so they came.Over the years, we grew closer together.
>>22934027This. Huge hive pyramids with inverted arcologies inside, full of jungles and whatnot. Our Arbite division can be Latin America - themed, fighting drug-cultivating jungle gangs.
OK so our population exists withint massive tree-like hive spires, and the remains of the untamed jungle resides within Pyramind-greenhouses?
Bumping for any more ideas.
I love the idea for the Jungle - Hiveworld, it's just something a little different :)I'm still struggling on the Chapter name and colour scheme. I want them to go for something with an Underworld theme, but also something that resonates how much they hate the Xenos.
You could have the Chapter have Librarians trained to disrupt and confuse the Eldar farseers. They emit psychic static of some sort that kicks Eldar in the psychic groin.
In the 35th Millenium, the Imperium of Man came into contact with a potentially dangerous new ally. These aliens, who called themselves the 'Tau' would ally with any cultures who would share their goals of a 'greater good'.Due to the close proximity of a few human-occupied planets, Eldar Craftworlds and the newly discovered Tau-controlled planets, new Chapters were founded to quell the Xenos before they got too strong. One such Chapter were the Shades Vigil, a Space Marine Chapter whose sole purpose was to destroy and eradicate the Xenos menace, but most notably to combat the Eldar, regardless of their affiliation with the Tau.The Shades Vigil are descended from the Dark Angels, first of the Chapters, and venerate their Primarch, Lion El'Jonson, more than any other. The homeworld of the Shades Vigil is a jungle based Hive-world, dotted with gigantic tree-like spires that house the population. The majority of the flora on the planet is now contained within mighty pyramid-like 'greenhouses'. Due to the medicinal effects of these plants, this planet plays a vital part in the producing of new medicines and anti-toxins that are shipped throughout the galaxy. However, some plants have been found to have carcinogenic and hallucinatory effects, leading to cartels manufacturing these into drugs and distributing them around the planet and further. As such, a large number of Adeptus Arbites have been stationed on this planet, to try and stem the flow, and have such formed a close bond with the Space Marines that call this planet their home. The Shades Vigil hold stewardship over the planet, and while they do not run it in day-to-day affairs, they have a very large say in the use of resources, recruiting and other matters.1/2
The current Chapter Master, Charon Dominus, is a legendary figure within the Chapter. When the Farseer of a nearby Eldar Craftworld forsaw the awakening of a Tomb World within the system, efforts were made to re-direct a passing Ork WAAAGH! through the system and onto the planet, to slow or stop the Necron invasion. However, the invasion landing on another planet within the system causing the Shades Vigil to intervene. Due to Charon's skill with the Power Hammer and his characteristic hatred for all Xenos the WAAAGH! was swiftly stopped. Green-skins throughout the sector still fear his name.Due to the need of having a constant force able to stop the Eldar, the Chapter was allowed to recruit over the recommended limit of most Chapters. Even though the Shades Vigil are extremely Codex-adherent, this was the only deviation that had been allowed.>I think that's it for today. If anyone has any more ideas you're free to post, I will do another of these threads tomorow, to either fluff out this Chapter a little more, or to focus on the details of the nearby Craftworld, or the Orks.
