YAAAR MATEYS! 'TIS A BEAUTIFUL MARNIN' FER PIRACY!
RECAP>The salvage team returns with a large selection of goods, around 10k in guns and ammo, mostly the same gear you already had with the exception of a few Avenger class guns. Around 4k in credit chips, the ships are mostly too damaged to risk taking for yourself and the frigate that isn't you outclassed by a great deal so it would be a downgrade if anything.>You did find orders for an assualt on a Blood Pack base on a rural moon however.>The ship made it through the battle without a scratch, money was well spent.>Oolot wishes to speak with you when you have a moment>Switch wishes to speak with you before you select a destination.>Cerberus has requested your prescense in the Horse Head Nebula in a backwater unnammed system. (No time limit)>You found no trace of the N7 Operative you were after, only a pitched battle orchestrated by Operative Morpheus who apologized afterward but he hoped it would draw Rennick out of hiding to assist you.
rolled 15 = 15>>20482335Welp go talk to oolot. Also rolling for personality
BACKSTORY DUMP>Rox OolotBorn on his native Tuchanka, Rox Oolot was born into the world of violence his people perpetuate. He was the largest of his litter and grew to be enormous even by Krogan standards. His size made him a natural at hand to hand fighting and he easily overpowered many great warriors even early in his life.Life is always cruel on Tuchanka however and an attack on Clan Rox left a great deal of his people dead and he decided that rather than try to rebuild as they had time and time again perhaps leaving for greener pastures were in order. There was a great exodus and the Clan Rox pretty much dissolved for a time.and while Krogan loyalty is among the hardest to win it is also among the best in the galaxy. You trust each other with your lives and you don't see it changing, he'd follow you into hell itself as long as you stand beside him.
>>20482383He traveled far and wide across the galaxy, finding work as most Krogan's do, as body guards, bouncers, mercenaries. He even tried a period in the Blood Pack but found their methods along with the Vorcha henchmen not to his liking. He was just pissing away his time when he met you, you were unlike most humans. You stood confident even when he threatened to break you, he'd killed bigger humans with his bare hands. He was caught off guard when you tossed him through a table after trying to take you out of the bar you were in. Oolot went into a rage and between the two of you the bar was absolutely demolished. The fight spilled out into the streets and eventually planetary security came to take you both to jail. You sat quietly, both of you beaten and bruised in the holding cell when you said, "Damn, you keep getting bigger the more sober I get." He laughed and you introduced yourself as Michael Clairmont, the first time you'd used that name in years. You've been with each other ever since, Oolot knows much of your past with the Alliance but you left certain details unknown to even him. You can tell he feels kinship to you, both of you lost your homes to violence
>>20482335Talk to Oolot, then talk to Switch, then take the choice gear for ourselves. We need to find a good market to sell the rest of the stock.
>Talk to OolotOolot stretches in the cargo bay and turns to you as you approach."Captain" he nods"You wanted to see me?" you askHe jerks his head over to a pile of crates at the side."I was gonna ask Michael, how much do you plan on telling these guys?"[ ] I think honesty is the best policy, I will hide nothing if they ask me.[ ] If they earn that level of trust I will tell them[ ] My past is my own and I plan to keep it that way
rolled 11 = 11>>20482432[x] Ask about what?
>>20482439"Your past, you seriously think they haven't noticed your swings?" he says looking around to see if anyone is around

>>20482398>Mental note, you still need to offload all the gear you took from the Suns
>>20482470>[X] If they earn that level of trust I will tell them.Maybe tack on that if we think that not telling them is disadvantageous to the entire crew, us included, we'll tell them.
>>20482484So we probably have a good 15,000-20,000 credits worth of gear to get rid of.
>>20482478>>20482510"I'll inform them if they earn that level of trust or if I feel them not knowing proves disadvantageous to us.""I see, well the time may come sooner rather than later, in the meantime we should get a game plan together on avoiding Aria , she hasn't stopped being a problem just because we've got new friends." he says turning around and laying his gun on a workbench."Right, I'm still working on that..."[ ] Talk to Oolot about something else[ ] Other>>20482513We've got a lot more than that, we stole an entire weapons shipment from the Blue Suns in the first part.
rolled 10 = 10>>20482550Lets ask about his opinion on the mission. We should also tell him that we might backstab Cerberus.
>>20482564Definitely tell him we might backstab Cerberus if we haven't already, though I think we told the crew that last thread. Also ask him if, during his wandering days, he met any trustworthy weapons dealers that buy for a fair price and don't ask too many questions.
>>20482564Already made aware, he knows it depends on what information you obtain from this N7 Operative.
rolled 7 = 7>>20482575Guess we should go talk to switch now.
>>20482572"We could always sell to the Blood Pack, though it's always hit or miss if they just wanna kill you and take it. Tuchanka always needs more guns but getting past the CDEM is always a pain in the ass what with the constant search and seizure, supposedly they're only making sure they don't get ship mounted weapons but they'll seize just about anything if you don't play your cards right. Other than Krogans not too many people are in the market for guns that don't already want us dead. Eclipse maybe but trying to arrange a meeting with them is a level of hell I'm not sure we're prepared to deal with." he grunts pulling his gun apart.
>>20482642"I'm gonna go talk to Switch, we'll talk more later." you tell him"Later" Oolot mumbles picking up a small screw driver.More backstory>SwitchWhat little you know of Switch is mostly reputation, he is a hacker of sorts, he has connections to nearly every corner of the Terminus through a network of anonymous extranet users. While relatively physically frail he prides himself on knowing a great many things and strives to prove his worth to everyone around him, you trust him as much as one can trust a Salarian and he seems capable if a little off. You know him only by his handle, his real name having never been truly important to you as he never knew yours either.
>>20482651I'm thinking we could get to Tuchanka with the weapons in our cargo. Although, it might be a good idea to look into building some kind of hidden compartments in our cargo hold and putting the really valuable stuff in there.
>>20482698Switch's hands glide over the command console, he turns to you as you enter"Ah, thanks for coming. I was going to let you know Sushoo thinks he's contacted the Drell you had requested, I think I may have also found us a doctor. We will need to head to Kahje to see if we can get the Drell to join us and the doctor is on the Citadel. If you want to head there just let me know.Other than that, do you, uh, wanna talk about..." he pauses and looks away from you.[ ] The Batarians? >>20482907>>20482918"We got to the Citadel, Doctor takes first priority. Also do you know any small time arms dealers who would do business with us?" you ask as he begins to select coordinates."I'll check some contacts and we'll see if anything pans out." he says as you make the jump to FTL.>You will arrive at the Citadel shortly.>You're trying to recruit a doctor from the Citadel currently>There was a high dollar art theft on-board the Citadel that has left C-Sec stumped which you heard about back on Benning>Anything you wanna do before you arrive?

A high roll could do us a lot of good... but we'd be passing as is.Meh, what's the worst that could happen? we have two more after this. Lets lock that roll.

>>20483473Luckily, you now have a small fortune.>>20483433>You elect to go talk to SushooMore Backstory>SushooYou've talked at length with him on multiple occasions and despite his insistance that he loves space and traveling he is quite obviously homesick.Where Sushoo picked us his trade he won't say but it's obvious he's put a great deal of time and study into it and you don't believe you've eaten the same meal any night he's been on board, sometimes it's familiar, sometimes bizarrely alien, but always delcious and served with Sushoo's trademark overbearing politeness. You're honestly surprised when Sushoo tells you he is a master of unarmed combat, it's hard to picture a Hanar as anything but the most non-threatening creature in the galaxy. He offers to demonstrate if you promised you would let him know if he hurts you. You of course oblige and it a matter of moments you're constricted in a perfect hold unable to breathe, you tap out and he apologizes profusely at length which you insist is unnessary. It bears investing why he has not sought to return home, he is obviously a Hanar of great skill and intellect and you have a hard time imaginging they wouldn't welcome him back.
Everyone is cool with just asking him about what he thought about the last mission and his Drell friend, right?
>>20483588Yea, Thats what I thought we were doing.
>>20483518"This one is glad to see you again Captain, I have prepared something special tonight in order to celebrate our victory." he tells you as Luke and Oolot salivate over a huge buffet. Rin sits and sips her drink quietly."Don't you make something special every night Sushoo?" you ask"This one appreciates your compliment but no, this one usually just throws something together last minute. Is there something you wished to discuss Captain?" Sushoo asks placing a plate of some amazing looking lobster in front of you. rolled 19 = 19>>20486696JUST like a jew. As soon as someone figures them out they try to throw them off by being generous.I KNOW YOUR TRICKS JEW DICE!
yes yes, let's not overdo it lest the Powers of Chance frown upon us in later rolls.Pray tell, TIM, did we manage to find at least a semi-honest Volus?
>>20486629>>20486680>>20486687You locate some back alley investment company who just so happen to have a Volus working for them."Ah...yes...do come in...How can I help you...invest your money..." the volus asks taking a seat>>20486660This one was for a Vorcha so you know, can't count it.
rolled 11 = 11>>20486753"I recently came into a large sum of money and I'm looking for a stable investment that would let it increase in value over time. I'm a patient man, and as long as I'm making a steady return I'm happy."
>>20486753for the love of all that is holy, don't give him more than a half of what we have.I personally vote for 400k and see how he handles it
>>20486820Oh, of course. give him a few hundred thousand credits to play around with, don't bust the bank account over it.
>>20486778>>20486820"I recently came into a large sum of money and I'm looking for a stable investment that would let it increase in value over time. I'm a patient man, and as long as I'm making a steady return I'm happy." you tell him"REALLY!...and you're looking to use us?!...Ming and associates are here to help you...make best use...of your money...I recommend we start by investing in colonies...specifically in the Traverse...There are several new human colonies that could use the investment...Horizon...Pilgrim's progress..." he tells you>What do you think?
>>20486860Sounds great! Let's help those upstart colonies get their footing right, and in return share on the wealth they produce!
>>20486860>I bet he has a parallel universe brother who owned a lot of real estate on Alderaan.
>>20486877INDEED What could possible go wrong!
>>20486883to be fair, Alderaan used to be beautiful world. Who could have foreseen all this imperium and rebellion mess? Sure sounded like a good idea at the time.
>>20486860"You see, I'm much more interested in giving you, say, half a million credits and letting you play with that as you will, in whatever manner you see fit. As long as I'm making money I'll pay you a commission, a portion of the profits."
>>20486860Still got 2 years before collecters start to fuck up everything! We could get our investment back before that.
>>20486898"Well I should hope so...our cost is 10% of your initial investment... and an additional 10% of the profits...if there are any..." Ming tells you breathing heavily, you think you may soon be adding another species to your shitlist.
>>20486947"That is on the upper range of standard commission. If I'm sinking that much of my money into your pocket I expect you to double my money by next quarter."
"Use these resources wisely and you'll get your hands on more. Much more."
>>20486996"Those are our rates, it's very clear." Ming says breathing heavier yet.
>>20487030Well it seems ill be taking my obsencly large amount of money somewhere else.
>>20487030"Well, if the rates are non-negotiable I do believe I will be on my way. I'll keep you in mind, I assure you."
>>20486883((To be fair, did you see the land values on Alderaan before that whole "Death Star" business?))>>20487030"Well, I'm in the mood to spend some money, but I don't think the reward to initial investment ratio is quite what I'm looking for."And then you turn and start to walk away, and wait for him to call you back.
>>20487042>>20487054>>20487124"Okay...okay...5% all the way around." he mumbles waddling after you.>Take it>Laugh
>>20487202To be honest, I'm not so hot on this guy... did we at least google investment banks before going to this one? I know it's supposedly shady... hmm...
>>20487202>2184>Not screwing a volus out of as much money as possible.Laugh and keep moving. If he's desperate enough to call AND hobble his stumpy little legs after you, you can probably push him to seven percent, maybe even ten.
let's give him a chance with (minor) portion of our wealth. If he fucks up and does so with deliberation, we can always track him down and ask Rin to do something with his olfactory filters.
>>20487242Trying to reduce the cut he's taking, he went from 10 to 5 already. He just kind of stands there as you laugh heartily.>Take it>Leave
>>20487242No no! We want lower! this is how much he's getting out of it.
>>20487261Well now we laughed at him and he resents us. Now we -have- to leave.
>>20487265((Oh, my bad, I completely misunderstood. Take it then. Getting anything less than a standard ten-percent commission is pretty impressive.))
>>20487261Ehh, take it I guess.
>>20487265>>20487276>>20487301>>204873232-2Ming looks a little heartbroken. His suit full of various patches and you notice he is breathing heavily because of just that, you think he popped a seam just from trying to come after you.He starts trying to patch it up as quickly as he can. He looks, pathetic in the most heart-breaking kind of way.
"Tell you what, we'll let you take six percent and if we're very happy about the outcome, we'll give you much more to play with and an additional percentage point. How's that?"
rolled 18 = 18>>20487366Take it sadistic bastard.Rolling for personality.
>>20487384Seconded. Toss in a "Maybe look into getting your suit fixed with the initial fee."
>>20487366Aw, man, now I just feel like shit for doing that to the guy.
>>20487390You feel your eyes start welling up a little."Tell you what, we'll do that 5%. Take some of this investment and get a new suit first thing." you say kneeling onto his level. You pull up your omni-tool and pull up investment opportunities, you don't know if investing in colonies in the best thing but you know it's what your father taught you and it's a field you know well. The colonies are ripe for investment indeed, many people haven't had a large degree of success as they were unable to coordinate all the resources to come in at once and piracy in the traverse is always a problem. Luckily you know some guys now after cleaning up those pirates.>You make a note to contact Mr. Harper when you have some free time."You...you mean it?" he asks."Sure, just keep in close contact, I'm a micromanager." you tell him."Oh, oh...thank you. You won't regret this..." Ming says moving back to his desk.>How much would you like to invest
rolled 8 = 8>>20487497seeing how we are bertie right now just dump 70% of our money in it
rolled 301 = 301>>20487497I'll roll 1d500 for the number of thousands of credits.
400k sounds like a nice start.
rolled 430 = 430>>20487515Lets do 2 more and average it out!
>>20487510Heh, that played out to his benefit, thanks for the personality roll.
rolled 231 = 231>>20487528Sounds like a plan!
rolled 170 = 170>>20487547Well we had to put it in somewhereNow lets go get the damn doctor before the reapers come pleasE?
rolled 316 = 316320,666.66 credits.Be very specific about this.
>>20487560"320,666.66 credits is what I can spare to invest at the moment. What do you recommend we do with that money?" you ask MingHe stutters "I...I...recommend starting with Horizon. Here's what we should be able to do."[ ] Farming-You will essentially dominate the crops coming off planet for this investment.[ ] Pre-fab structures- You can build quite a few houses to attract colonists to the world but fair warning most colonists prefer to own rather than rent, may not be the most profitable venture.[ ] Defenses- It's a small colony, most pirates won't dare attack a world directly but you could buy some serious hardware for the world with his money[ ] Ming's discretion- Ming will invest this money to the best of his ability.
rolled 1 = 1>>20487675"Invest most of it in farming, but defense should be a secondary concern. I don't think there is a ton of money in pre-fab, but maybe spend the credits to get it off the ground if need be."
>>204877120.002 chance of rolling a nat 1, and there you have it.
>>20487675[X] FarmingSure, pre-fabs SOUND like a good idea, but there was that market crash after the Geth attack on Eden Prime, and that was from a colony in Alliance space.Besides, it's an agrarian human colony in the middle of nowhere. Who'd bother to attack something like that?
>>20487675how much would it cost to start a pub on the colony?bonus points if it's an underground put. I mean, literally undergroundwith hermetically sealable entrancesthis is not too meta, is it? um... just ignore these spoilers
>>20487721doesn't market crash imply that they are dirt cheap now? But spirit of adventure never dies.
>>20487735I'm just saying, it's a volatile market. Hell, if an attack on a single colony can crash the market, you might as well short sell those suckers.
>>20487746well if you're looking at it like that, then considering that we're hunting for an alliance commando and being paid obscenely well, we might as well assume there is some trouble brewing in the galaxy it always is after all and just buy shares in things like Haliat or Rosenkov.
>>20487712>>20487721>>20487722"Most of the initial investment should be for farming, we can lock that market down, then I recommend defenses, it never hurts to be too careful." you tell Ming"Ok, we can do that...I'll go ahead and start setting that up now... Thank you again, you have no idea how much... this means to me. You won't be disappointed...I hope..." Ming says opening his computer terminal"Also, any idea how much it would cost to start up a pub on Horizon?" you ask"I'm not a good guy for that question but pretty expensive I'd say with the trade routes, I'd ask someone who owns that kind of establishment and knows the risks involved." he says
>>20487784True enough. The one thing that never goes out of demands in this fucking galaxy is guns and medi-gel.((I'm sorry, I'm getting off topic here.))
rolled 227 = 227>>20487799Hey edin. Shouldn't you be doing your own Quest now?
Let's meet the Doctor.
>>20487841I am. :3
>>20487833I vote for going off to the Hospital.
>>20487833To the hospital!
>>20487862>Your wish is my command. You thank Ming for his time and head on your way.You head up the the presidium ring, after being eyed pretty hard by C-sec several times you finally make it where you need to go.The hospital sits out over the presidium ring on a bridge crossing the artificial lake. You head up and enter to begin your search for this Doctor.
rolled 10 = 10should we be rolling for perception, or did Switch tell us some specifics?
The lobby is relatively quiet and you have a look around, not too many Asari. She should be easy enough to find.It occurs to you this was all the information you had though, shit why don't you ever ask more questions."Switch?" you call him on your com."Yes Captain?" he replies"What is this Asari's name? Is she expecting me?" you ask Switch mildly annoyed."Kelisa Janios, and yes she should be, I told her to expect you." Switch informs you.Well that's better.>Walk up to receptionist?
>>20488006"Good day, miss. I'm looking for someone, a doctor Janios. Can you help me?"
>>20488006Ask the receptionist as to how to see miss Janios, and that she's expecting you.
>>20488015>>20488016"Oh yes, Doctor Janios has been expecting you Bob! Please right this way!" the receptionist says leading you towards the medical wing.>Switch gave the alias he knows you by. Fair enough, you may have to start a new one soon, this is quite a few people now that know this one.>Taking 20 minutes, be back soon
>>20488043She leads you back through security and through the intensive care wing to her office.Switch can really pick them, she sits at her desk in a long strapless dress reading."Ah, Mr. Drake a pleasure to finally meet you, Switch has told me much." Dr. Janios says offering you a very plush seat in front of her desk. Not too much you hope...Give me a personality roll>D20
rolled 6 = 6>>20488303here's hoping for something sensible
rolled 18 = 18>>20488303R-R-Rolling
>>20488312>Yeah about that...
You guys have one lock/reroll left.I will also make a rule you can use this to force a single personality shift of your choice as long as it's not the Butcher. However, this is your last point, you do not know when you will get the rest returned to you.
well at least it's not the Barnacle Bob. What is it? The biotic god?
>>20488339The God Complex incarnate, we haven't seen him in action before, I'm sure you guys will give a good show, the only thing is, you rolled incredible on all of your crew checks so it would be a shame to waste this one on failed negotiations. You have a lock invested to this already.
She smiles and leans back in her chair, "So I hear your ship is in need of a doctor?">What do you say?
"Doctor Janios! A pleasure to meet you. Let me introduce myself, my name is Robert, but you may call me Berto.Allow me to offer you an offer of a lifetime, a chance to participate in an outrageously dangerous adventure that will see us carve out a mark in the galactic history, a mark so profound that historians will consider it a tall tale!"is this acceptable?
>>20488415"Doctor Janios! A pleasure to meet you. Let me introduce myself, my name is Robert, but you may call me Berto.Allow me to offer you a once in a lifetime opportunity, a chance to participate in an outrageously dangerous adventure that will see us carve out a mark in the galactic history, a mark so profound that historians will consider it a tall tale!"She smiles and laughs a little, "Well you're high spirited, and it certainly sounds more interesting that here, what are you offering in way of compensation?" she asks
>>20488415No no we are bertie right now so be more beta
>>20488453Large amounts of credits.
>>20488453"Well, aside from the obvious honor of seeing the history in the making (cue on a biotic illusion, perhaps galaxy-shaped), we can supplement some monetary allowance. Name your price. Fifty thousand credits would be too little, I suppose?"(I figure this is good enough for grandeur?)
>>20488477Oh right berto. The guy who has never heard of humility.
>>20488453We're bionic god right now sooo."Why, anything my powers may summon up from the inky black void of space! I share the profits of my exploits equally amongst my crew, I take no greater allowance than they."
>>20488463beta? we are BIOTIC GOD, we're above silly things like greek alphabet.
rolled 19 = 19>>20488453"Doctor, imagine the most credits you possibly can. No, more. NO, MORE."Pause for dramatic effect."That is one-seventh of the potential bounty I can offer you. And I'm just getting started."
>>20488453>>20488500>>20488503"Well, aside from the obvious honor of seeing the history in the making?", you create a biotic sphere swirling that looks like the milky way galaxy, "Why, anything my powers may summon up from the inky black void of space! I share the profits of my exploits equally amongst my crew, I take no greater allowance than they." you tell her smiling"And what of my expected duties?" she asks
rolled 8 = 8>>20488592To keep me from going buttfuck insane
>>20488592"To maintain the health and... sanity of the crew. No more and no less."
>>20488636Berto? Insane? Ha! No one can handle me if that's what you mean! I mean, after all, I'm a fucking biotic god!
"Much as I loathe to admit, our adventure is a dangerous one. Someone might get hurt occasionally. We need a courageous soul well versed in arts of healing. One knowledgeable of Krogan, Hanar, Quarian, Salarian and Drell physiology. And Human as well, I suppose."
>>20488664I think this guy has Berto down pretty well.
>>20488678(oh my, I'm flattered. but I'm afraid I have to get some rest. It's almost morning here. sorry and good luck in persuasion checks! I do hope the doctor comes along, she'll figure out severity of her task soon enough)
>>20488664"Much as I loathe to admit, our adventure is a dangerous one. Someone might get hurt occasionally. We need a courageous soul well versed in arts of healing. One knowledgeable of Krogan, Hanar, Quarian, Salarian and Drell physiology. And Human as well, I suppose." you finish. She stands and smiles, "You have no idea how enticing your offer is, but I will have to make sure my assets are in order. Do you feel you can help me settle a small issue before I join your crew?" she asks walking over to the window overlooking the presidium lake.>>20488678I know right? I think he should start tripfagging as Berto the Biotic god.

rolled 8 = 8>>20489093I'm not sure how he's handling the reapers to be honest, I planned to have them but many years delayed that way we could time skip our way to it and have an all out war instead of use space magic.
