Jormungandr slowly drifts down toward one of the ports of Sosaria, the grand, marble island city. As you do so, the populace at the ports, and the armed soldiers all look up, in awe, as the ship slowly dips down."The city's beautiful, isn't it." Kaliel said, as the squirrel on her shoulder chittered an affimative. She turned to you and grinned. "If this place is pretty, I can't wait to see what New Arcturus is like."The soldiers, wearing chainmail, a tabard, and a mantle all looked toward one another, and then two of them said something and hit the third. The third nodded, and stepped up to you, his mantle draped across his chainmail armor."Excuse me." He said, as if this were an everyday occurance. "Please state who you are, and why you've arrived. We have never seen a flying ship such as yours."
>>20456211"I am Queen Ishelda of New Arcturus. We are here on diplomatic business."
"Greetings, I am Queen Ishelda representing New Arcturus, and we come with peaceful intent. We'd like to resupply, and perhaps meet with the local rulers for tea if they like. The airship is of elvish design and orcish make."
>>20456211"I am Queen Ishelda of Arcturus. We were hoping to stop here a while before continuing on to the eastern continent.">Jormungandr slowly drifts down>a flying ship such as yoursWhere's the other ship that's following us?
>>20456211"Queen Ishelda of Old and New Arcturus. The ship is originally an Orc vessel, but it was gifted to me and further modified with Elven flowers, among other things."
>Sparrow is still circling above the Jormungandr, always in movement."Greetings." You say, curtsying. "I am queen Ishelda representing New Arcturus, and we come with peaceful intent. We'd like to resupply before continuing on to the eastern continent, and perhaps meet with the local rulers for tea, if they like." You say. "The airship is of elvish design and orcish make.""I, uh, see." He said, and turned to one of the other soldiers. The soldier had already took off running, dumping off his chainmail and weapons."One moment, your majesty." He said, with a bow. "The courier is simply informing King Venus of your arrival."
>>20456270"How is everything on this fine day?"
>>20456270"Venus? Is the king related to the high lord Venus perchance?"
>>20456270I apologise that I did not warn you that we were coming, we were in a hurry.
>>20456300>>20456270>Shit, I meant Vernus.
"How is everything on this fine day?" You ask, conversationally."Very sunny." The soldier said, rather uncomfortable. "With few clouds. A good day for a swim.""I apologise that I did not warn you of our arrival." You say. "We were in a hurry.""Oh, of course." He says. "When one owns a flying ship, couriers are simply too slow. Very, uhm, reasonable."There's an awkward moment as the soldier fidgets, and then the courier comes back, puffing."Your Majesty Ishelda of New Arcturus, the king will receive you, a bodyguard, and one of your handmaidens. You are welcome in Sosaria, and your crew can purchase supplies and belongings." The courier says, bowing low.The soldier visibly relaxed.
>>20456349I'd say we should bring Grayson, because a bear bodyguard is a very impressive thing, and Raziel - because it's always good to have Raz nearby.
>>20456349"Raziel, since Marigold is absent I suppose you will have to be my handmaiden. Christoph, Leon, Grayson, and a few of you nameless rank and file soldiers will be my bodyguard."
>>20456349"Thank you courier. Raziel and... hmm. Who wants to be my official bodyguard for this visit?"
>>20456372It's a single bodyguard.
>>20456349"What's his opinion of bears?"So, Grayson (because he's awesome), Kris as body guard, and Raz in place of a handmaiden?
>>20456372A bodyguard.A.aka Grayson.Raziel and Grayson.
Sneak Grayson in by saying he's our mount
>>20456418A prince as a mount?Rude.
>>20456418Nah, just tell em he's Prince of All Bears. It's true, roughly.
We'll just take Kristoph and RazielKristoph has always been one of our guards (Grayson is probably inappropriate) and Raziel is the closest thing we have to "handmaiden"
"Thank you, Courier. What's his opinion of bears?"". . Bears, your majesty?""Raziel, since Marigold is absent, I suppose you'll have to be my handmaiden." You say. "Grayson, you can be my bodyguard."The bear harrumphed, and Raziel nodded, already wearing her formal court wear. You step off of the gangplank, Raziel on one side, and Grayson on the other. The soldier stands perfectly still, trying not to look at the massive, foriegn creature he's only heard of in story. "This way to the castle, your majesty." The soldier said, bowed again, and then led your through the streets of the city- everything was made of perfectly carved stone, baked, and you're sure it was made, partially or completely, by magic. He leads your up the many stairs toward the highest point in the city- the keep, which was rather small, compared to the rest of the sprawling city.He banged on the knocker twice, and spoke to one of the pages. There was a slight delay at the keep's gate, and then the doors opened. The hall was quite large, with a grandiose table, arranged with any meal you could even think of- with a higher portion of fish than anything else. There were five people eating at the table, all of them in high-quality clothing. The queen was perfectly silent, with high cheekbones and dark hair. Her three sons looked quite similar to their mother- with high cheekbones and dark hair."Welcome." The king said, nodding politely. "We were just in the middle of breakfast, Queen Ishelda. Would you like to join us?"
>>20456515"Thank you your highness. It would be an honor."
>>20456538Majesty, not Highness.
>>20456586You're right, of course.
I have idea how to deal with incrresing magicSummon book, doll, ring, toilet or silly hat and then make it eat magic from things that we will lay around the world that are absorbing magic itselfOpinions?
>>20456586>>20456598I'm honestly not aware - what's the difference?
>>20456625High risk of badend, and why do we want to stop the magic growth in the first place?
>>20456632Highness would imply Ishelda considers herself beneath him.
>>20456632Majesty is used for the king/queenHighness is for princes/princesses
>>20456649It implies that he is a prince, not a king.
>>20456647List things that can go well if world is overflown with magic
"Thank you, your majesty. It would be an honor." You say, and sit down demurely."I see no reason why your retinue cannot eat as well." The king said, and chuckled. "Welcome to Sosaria. High Lord Sirius and his letters said quite a bit about you, and all of it was good. I'm pleased to meet you, finally. These are my sons; Daeron, the oldest- Berethor, and Thengel, the youngest- and my wife, Cirya. Please, don't be offended if she does not speak- her power is such that she cannot."He chuckled, and she smiled at you.
>>20456668Exabyte had the guards call us "Majesty", which implies that it does mean that here.
>>20456676"It's a pleasure to meet you all. Power? Does she have a voice related talent?"
rolled 68 = 68>>20456647Cast mind shield i dont want her reading our mind
>>20456653The King/Queen is a 'highness' as well. But they're the only ones that get to be called 'majesty' so you use that instead.>>20456671Everything. What could go wrong?
>>20456676"Please, call me Ishelda.""My apologies if I offend, but might I ask why she cannot?"
>>20456707The same thing that can go well. And its wont be strong enought to stop this but atleast it will slow this down. And whats wrong with getting new powerfull artifact?
You quickly erect another ward, just in case, and you feel it lock into place."It's a pleasure to meet you all. Please, call me Ishelda." You say. "My apologies if I offend, but might I ask why she cannot? Does she have a voice related talent?""Oh, all of us in this family bears a talent- Well, most." He said, with a glance to the middle son, who was slightly older than you- Berethor, you believe. "Cirya's power causes. . difficulties, sometimes. Such as the time she asked me to stop laughing, and everybody in the room promptly froze in place, and I near suffocated." He grinned. "My own, is power of the sea. An elemental power, and one suited for our humble island kingdom."
>>20456671Our own power increases dramatically. The weave is able to be extended globally.More talents and dire creatures.More access to luxuries for the middle and lower classes due to ease of production.More access to healers for the lower classes as healing magic becomes widespread.Globalization leads to increased trade and communication across the world.Portals opening up have a 50/50 shot of bringing in new creatures, who in turn bring new ideas, traditions, and skills.New Arcturus rides this new wave like it's the Fonz on a fucking surfboard and becomes a global capital.
>>20456755"I would imagine so. My own talent is much more... broad I suppose would be the best way to describe it."
>Portals opening up have a 50/50 shot of bringing in new creatures, who in turn bring new ideas, traditions, and skills. You forgot demons.
rolled 67 = 67>>20456755Check middle son talent

>>20456808Nope, the ogre's sacrifice is still in place.
>>20456824It was made so demons cant open portal to this worldNothing was said about demons opening portal to demon world from here
>>20456824Even if we know sign language, she might not. Let's not look like a complete retard, please.
>>20456836The sacrifice prevents demons from opening portals to this world,if I remember correctly. Doesn't mean they can't come through portals opened by others.
>>20456824It closed that particular portal. The dragon's sacrifice prevented any new demon portals from opening anyway.>>20456836It stops demon portals. It doesn't stop normal portals opening to demon worlds. Like when we sent the astral fire elemental to Arcturus.
>>20456824>The sacrifice closed just that single portal. Nothing else.Curious, you reach toward the middle son with your magic. . and he has something muted, and blurred- an unawakened talent, you can tell."Fascinating." You say. "A word of warning, if I may. I've come to notice that talents are getting stronger, around the world.""Oh, really? How wonderful." The king said. "If I may ask, did the ambassador Denegrin or his son, Thorin, arrive? I sent him several weeks ago, and he should arrive in Arctrurus any day now. Perhaps you crossed one another on your journey?"
>>20456892"Actually, that is one of the reasons I've come here."Explain what happened with the knife and whatnot.
rolled 35 = 35>>20456755interesting. I myself have a talent, but mine is a little difficult to identify.Grayson has a talent for dancing as well as a magic all of his own, and Raziel here is quite a competent shape shifter. you can't hardly tell any more that she wasn't human to begin with
>>20456892"They did, yes. A day or two before I set out on this latest journey, in fact."
>>20456892"That he did, and he was received warmly. >>20456911Lets not talk about it during breakfast. Mention there is something to talk about, but let it wait till after the meal.

>>20456965We just have to word it in a way where it's clear that we don't think it was a deliberate attack from Sosaria.
>>20456944>That'd make you a living ghost, and you'd be unable to regenerate magic. But yes, that means you could drift from world to world without needing to open portals."That he did, yes, and he was recieved warmly." You say. "A day or two before I set out on this latest journey, in fact."There was a moment of silence as everyone ate, and then the oldest son- who was a man in his own right, opposed to his two younger brothers- spoke."Excuse me, Your majesty, but if I may ask, what is your power? I've heard tell of sorcery. What exactly is that?"
>>20456976Nah, let's not spoil it for the whole family yet, maybe for him later.>>20457013"Magic." with a smile.
>>20457013"Sorcery is the ability to manipulate magic without spells. I can do anything a traditional wizard can do and then some."

"Magic." You say. "Sorcery is the ability to manipulate magic without spells." You say. "I can do anything a traditional wizard can do and then some, intuitively. While I haven't the power that those of a more specialized talent can do with their respective dominions, but mine stretches far and wide. Jack of all trades, master of none." Except for when that strange, unknowable power burns up from inside of you, like when you built Rikar, but you don't mention that. You raise your palm to demonstrate, and you will a small wisp of light into the air. And then. . it starts draining you. Draining your power at a consecutive rate, tearing away your power. You try to disconnect the spell, or to cancel it, but it the connection between you and it is powerful, too powerful to disconnect. . It drains, quickly, and you're not sure why, or where to. The world swims, and your legs start to shake, and your magic is all but gone-And then the wisp of light goes out, along with the rest of your magic. You take another bite, as if nothing out of the ordinary happened. Don't want them to see you weak, of course- your father told you that. Of course, you're not sure you can stand like this. . ."Put simply, sorcery is the ability to do magic at an instinctual level.""I see." He said. "Thank you for telling me.""So, please tell me." We need to learn how to sap magic from things around us.The faster the better atleast if we want to become living ghost. Not that learning this have any negatives.
>>20457154>I have reason to believe that your kingdom is being compromised, your majesty, by a cultWait, what? Do we?
>>20457171This. All of it.
rolled 27 = 27>>20457155we have gold and land, and not much else yet, we don't even have forests to cut for lumber we need mines and craftsmen to really trade properly.
>>20457178We can do that, control magic is a signature spell and we steal peoples' magic with it.
>>20457184We don't. The cult we believe to be on the Eastern continent - we sent Lewin after it, remember? He's just confused.
>>20457190Read that as "we don't even have the forests of cucumber"
>>20457195I believe he means using ambient magic to recharge.
>>20457190I'm fairly certain we have Galadriel's Light that we could trade, as well as magical skills we can peddle.Hey! We should start an Academy in New Arcturus for those with talents. People the world over can come there to learn more about their skills.
>>20457221Well if we touched something with magic in it we could grab the magic and recharge from it. In fact we can grab magic out of the air as we did with the Weave, but outside the Weave there's probably just not a significant amount of it.
>>20457243Do we get a bald guy in a wheelchair to run it?
I just realized something. Ishelda is the head of the royal family, which means we could theoretically marry Marigold off. Not that Ishelda would do that of course.
"I'm actually on my way further west, to the Ogre continent." You say. "Denegrin told me that scouts and couriers there had stopped returning, and I intend to look into the matter.""I see." He said. "Always selfless, I've heard." He seemed to think a moment."Undoubtedly, there's something wrong there." He said, thinking. "I freely offer a small squadron of our soldiers, and one of my sons to assist you. The soldiers are trained for every environment, and armed with crossbow and shortsword."The queen turned to the king. "But-" She said, and her voice rang out with strong, mind control magic- sparking off of your ward. She slammed her mouth shut again, and thought for a moment."If you wish to, please tell me why you do this thing without consulting me." She said, slowly, carefully choosing her words, as more slews of mind controlling magic spilled from her lips, affecting nobody."Trust me, love." He said. She paused a moment, and then nodded. Apparently that was enough.
>>20457256I'm aware of that. I'm just interpreting for the man.
>>20457171>>20457184.>>20457211Which I suspect is behind the shit in the West, just as they're causing shit in the East. Ogres and Kobolds at war, smoke and fire, an enchanted child trying to kill us in the name of the 'Great Wyrm' soon after the scrying, the cult mobilizing in the East... Oh, you must think it's coincidence. But it isn't!Ogres and dragons despise(d) one another. This cult worships all things draconic, in theory. New Arcturus is founded on Ogre and possibly former Dragon land, giving them reason to despise us in the name of reclaiming 'their' land. A Sosarian child was enchanted by the cult's magic to try and kill us, despite the utter lack of proximity to the cult's base in the East. That suggests they've got a base in the West, which gives reasoning that they're behind the troubles of the West. This is clearly all a plot to throw the entire world into chaos, complete the destruction of Ogre-kind, enslave the Kobolds as a sort of untermenschen for the cult, revive the dragons, and fuck up everything we've strived for with New Arcturus and our previous adventures, because the cult doesn't know the dragons all have to stay dead because DEMONS, which leads into further conspiracy involving surviving demons (some can shapeshift after all) puppeteering the cult into letting them back into the world, which probably leads to even further conspiracy about the Void Queen, where this is all a distraction to keep us from finding THE GEARWORKS before she does.

"I would most certainly appreciate that, your majesty. Who do you intend to accompany us?"The king examined all of his children, and finally spoke up."Second prince of Sosaria." He said, in a strong voice. "Belethor. I charge you to accompany Queen Ishelda of New Arcturus, and assist her as she attempts to discover the reason behind the Ogres' silence. Do you accept my charge?"The pale prince blinked- he's obviously never heard a speech like this before- and then cleared his throat. "I do." He said. The king relaxed again. "But you can simply call me Belethor, if you wish."You say your goodbyes to the royal family, and make your way back to the ship. Once on the Jormungandr, Raziel finally spoke up. "You looked like you were in pain."You sit down, and have some mana tea, using the extra-infused-Galadriel's-Light version you had made, for just this sort of occasion. Your power returns, slowly, and the world stops spinning. You also use some energy from Jormungandr, refilling what you can, until the spare energy is all but gone, if you count the drain of Sparrow and Ell's armor- Your legs stop shaking, and you feel like you can move freely again. You're not full of power again, but you're much better than you were."The knights and the lizardmen are off seeing the city, Lady." Leon said, approaching as you sit. "They're also gathering supplies. Is there anything particular you'd like?"

"Tea, of course.""Erm, lady, I'm not sure you're aware of this, but.. Well, it's not likely you'll find any new types of tea. Mostly because. . well, you were the one that brought that concept to Cerulean." Leon said. "But we'll look, lady.""Also, a few simple, but sturdy rings, and more space for the soldiers that the royal family have granted to us.""Of course, lady." He said, and took the knights and lizardmen off of the ship. While they leave, you close your eyes, and attempt to scry for the source of magic on this plane. What you see. . .doesn't surprise you at all.You see Marigold, Kell at her side, sitting in the field of Galadriel's Light, the sun being converted slowly into magic by the blue flowers' petals. But there's something bigger. Something . . More. You can't tell where, but it's something powerful, an enormous presence. You can't tell the direction- it's locationless, in a way. The flowers may be a big part, but the something More is the true problem. You see two long horns, and a single, blind eye staring out at you.It whispers your name. You wake up with a start, and it's almost noon- you'd fallen asleep while scrying, it seems, and you're not sure how much of that was dream, and how much was scry."Ishelda, the prince and sosarian soldiers are here." Raziel said, shaking your shoulder.

"Ah, thank you, Raz. Sorry, nodded off." You say, stretching. "I suppose it's time for another tour of the ship, and another round of introductions.""If you're tired, there's no need." Kaliel said. "We can show them around for you.""One moment." You say. You take a ring in hand, and quickly enchant it with the standard communication enchantment, giving it to Raziel. She puts it on. The Sosarian Queen's ring is completely new- you'll have to focus directly on it. "No, I can do it." You say, and make your way to the gangplank. The prince, Belethor, was rather tall, with dark hair, broad cheekbones. While his brothers were more tan, he was still rather pale. A strangely designed sword sat on his hip- it almost looked more like a cleaver than a sword."We're prepared, your majesty." He said, with a rather genuine, if muted, smile.
>>20458177"By the way, I didn't mention it earlier in case you want to keep it a secret but - I can definitely sense an unawakened talent in you."

He said, and turned back to the soldiers- there were only six of them, but you have a feeling they were handpicked. "Come along, then.""Of course, milord." One of the soldiers said, and they all came aboard. You introduced them to the other soldiers, and the other members of your retinue. Belethor is abnormally polite, but he seems extremely calm, strangely."Pleased to meet you." The prince said, after you introduced him to Leon. "My name is Belethor."He bowed."You too. I'm Sir Leon." Leon said- his voice was rather cold, it seems. Their eyes lock, for a moment, and you feel tension creak up. . but you don't know why.

Leon said."So you're from Cerulean Province, right?""I was trained there, yes.""Could you tell me about it?" He asked. Leon's eyes widened a fraction. "Sure." The spellknight responded, and the two of them started talking.Rather perplexed, you make your way back to the table, where Kaliel's squirrel is hiding under an overturned teacup, nibbling on a biscuit. Though once your talent awakens there could be some rather interesting spars between the two of you, neither of you holding anything back.

rolled 75 = 75>>20459612nah we're still running weak at the knees over that damned light biuisiness earlier, later perhaps.as soon as we can though we should take off and be on our way.
Should we deliver the ring for the queen personally, or just have it delivered by messenger?
Damn I'm bloody tired. I guess I'm retiring for the night...And it's only 0148 as well...
We should head back to the king and give him the ring.Yes I did rhyme on purpose.
>>20459665Personally, I suggest
"Go ahead." You say. "If you wish to spar him, you don't need my permission. I'll just sit back and enjoy the show. It'd probably be rude for him to use his other magic in a sword fight so I'm sure he wouldn't.""I see." He said. "I may just, then.""Best of luck to you, then.""Thank you." He said. "I may just need some luck."He stood up, drew his blade. . and then handed it to one of his soldiers. The soldier brought out a small chest, and the prince rustled through it until he drew something longer, and larger. At first, it looked like a scimitar, but it'd been . . stretched; it was much more longer and thinner than a scimitar had any right to be. The prince adjusted his mantle, and strapped the weapon's sheath there, to his back."Sir Leon, I'm quite curious." He said. The knight raised an eyebrow. "I'd like to see you in combat. Would you be willing to spar?"Leon paused a moment, and then gave a slight smirk. "Of course." He said. The soldiers all stepped to the sides of the ship, leaving the center for the combatants. This was shaping up to be interesting.
>>20459656We fully recharged from the light. We didn't use that much magic on the ring. We can manage a straight swordfight and it doesn't matter if we lose this time.

>>20459744Nope. This one after doing the ring for the queen.>You pull away from it- it drained you quite a bit, and your legs are shaking, but it seems intact. Is it really that hard to read these posts yourself?
rolled 13 = 13>>20459707nope...and I dread this conclusion...it's a katana
"Have fun, boys." You say. "Don't hurt eachother too badly."With the sound of shattering glass, Leon's sword appeared. Belethor drew his own blade- the hilt was almost half as long as the rest of the blade. You have no idea what the weapon was designed for.The two quickly decided on terms, and entered battle, parrying and slashing at one another.<Good news;> you tell the Sosarian king. <I have, after a little work, got you the ring you wanted.><Splendid.> The king said. <I'll have a courier pick it up immediately.>As you watch, Leon backs up, sword shattering and reappearing. . and Belethor shifts stances, and charges, his long, thin blade windmilling through the air as he rolls the hilt over his hands. Leon parries it- and the windmill twisted, as if Leon fought exactly like the prince expected, and the blade nicked Leon's hand."Hold!" Leon said, panting."Yes?" Belethor asked. He didn't seem winded at all."I, uh..." He shook his head, and started laughing breathlessly. "That was humiliating for me."
>>20459817Or it's a shamshir.
>>20459817Oh god, he's going to bisect Leon in a single vertical strike!

>>20459836Smile, sip our tea, don't show how much we enjoyed watching that. You're very skilled Belethor. That is quite an interesting sword you have, I have never seen its like before.
>>20459836Yes, this pleases Ishelda.
You smile demurely, and sip your tea. "You're very skilled, Belethor." You say."Thank you." He said, bowing- or nodding his head, it was hard to tell which."That is quite an interesting sword you have. I have never seen it's like before.""No offense, but of course not." He said. "I designed it. Made it? Had my brothers help me make it. It's an great scimitar, for the most part- but the hilt is lengthened and weighted so that you can spin it like one does a quarterstaff, if one knows how. It's bad for indoors and closed up locations. . but in the open like this. . ."He trailed off.
rolled 56 = 56>>20459959yes I see, like the glaives of the Lizardmen but with a bigger blade.
>>20459959Quite inventive of you. My own sword came to being when I decided to try enchanting a short sword. I created something far beyond my initial expectations.Show him Rikar, let him hold it, see what color the blade changes to.
Next time we get Leon in private, "At least he didn't freaking CATCH you. Now you know how it feels." then flick him in the forehead head and grin good naturedly. "Stupid."
>>20459959Goodness me! could your talent perhaps be that of metallurgy?
rolled 11 = 11>>20459992>At least he didn't freaking CATCH you.but wouldn't it be just a little worrying if he DID...
>>20459959What do you call it?
"Yes, I see. Like the glaives of the lizardmen, but with a longer blade." You say. "Quite inventive of you. My own sword came to be when I decided to try enchanting a shot sword. I created something far beyond my initial expectations.""Oh?" He asked. You draw Rikar, and the sword glows violet, as it always does."I'm unused to spells so. . overt, like this." He said. "May I hold it?"You nod, and he takes it.The sword shimmers. . And then becomes perfectly normal steel. He spins it in the palm of his hand, and sparks dance off of the blade itself- it's still magical, it just doesn't appear so. Strange."Strange." He said. "It changes the balance on it's own. Like it's reading what I want."
>>20460049"It is. It's appearance also changes based on the wielder. For most people it stays crystalline, but changes color."
rolled 88 = 88>>20460049hmmm it never did that before.

>>20460049Ooooh, I want to see what the blade looks like when Raz, Kaliel, or Zeke wield it.
>>20460049"That's what it does. And it's appearance changes with each wielder, probably a representation of the wielder's magic."
"It's quite friendly." You say. "It doesn't cut what I don't wish to be cut. Even a girl like myself can block a hammer with it; it just takes the momentum and gets rid of it. The appearance changes on the weilder as well, and chooses who it will work for.""Strange." He said, and started twirling it around the other direction. "Because it changed into a standard short sword, does that mean it doesn't accept me? Does the sword have a name?"
rolled 43 = 43>>20460150well, it was a shortsword to start with, as for it's name. it was named Rikar by a companion of mine a long time ago.
>>20460150"Oh, I'm sure it wouldn't have a blade at all, if Rikar did not accept you. Maybe it thinks something flashy just wouldn't fit you."
>>20460150It did accept you if it's listening to what you want. Maybe you're just plain. It's called Rikar, what's yours called?
>>20460150I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure that if it didn't like you it wouldn't be changing the balance. It may simply feel that you don't want ornamentation. It's name is Rikar.
>>20460150If it didn't accept you, you'd have problems swinging it around. It's name is Rikar.
>>20460049Waaaaaiiiiittt, Exa, what kind of scimitar are you basing this off of? The D&D scimitar which is actually a Falchion or a normal scimitar?

Have we actually found anyone it hasn't accepted yet? It didn't accept Kristoph but it didn't deny him either, it just didn't know he was there.
Has Leon ever held the sword? if not then lets see what happens when he does
>>20460231He picked it up after humiliating us. It went clear and started sparking up.
>>20460231Yep. It turns sparky like his magic blade.
>>20460221Kristoph should try it while his anti-magic is exhausted.
>>20460259>Rikar turns into a small adorable Kalak.
>>20460221>When Marigold was trying to kill the Wanderer, she tried to draw it- it didn't let her unsheathe it.>>20460231>Yes, he has. It turned into glass- almost completely transparent, and had magic sparkles."If Rikar didn't accept you, you'd have problems swinging it around." You say. "Maybe it things something flashy just wouldn't fit you.""I think it's correct. . for the most part." He said, and then handed it back to you. Once again, Rikar blazed into violet crystal. You sheathe it. "Interesting name, though." He said."It was actually my name, once upon a time." Fellwind said. "Before I gave it to the sword.""You're the, uh, healer, correct?""Indeed." Fellwind said. They shook hands.Kristoph came up out from below deck, fully armed and armored. "I have a feeling I missed something." He said.
>>20460281"Yep."If his anti-magic is still gone."Hey Kristoph, I want to see what Rikar looks like if you hold it."
>>20460281"You did, Belethor just bested Leon in a brief sparring match."
>>20460281Sword fight, our new friend Belethor beat Leon. Kristoph if you haven't yet recovered from draining your anti-magic I was wondering what Rikar would look like in your hands.
"You did." You say. "Our new friend Belethor just bested Leon in a brief sparring match.""I see." Kristoph responded. "How badly?""Really badly." Leon said.Kristoph shrugged."Kristoph, if you haven't yet recovered from draining your anti-magic, I was wondering what Rikar would look like in your hands.""Let me see..." He said, taking ahold of Rikar. It shook. . and vibrated, and the blade started shaking out of control-And a full three feet of extra steel poured out of the hilt, the metal turning into a charred, dull steel- almost entirely black, with no sheen.". . And it turns into a longsword." Kristoph said. "That's completely normal."
>>20460281Didn't Mar still have the Ankh inside of her when she tried to wield Rikar?
>>20460397Impressive. For some reason, magic seems to associate you with the colour black.
>>20460397"That is....honestly somewhat disturbing. The metal, I mean."
>>20460397"Goodness. Perhaps because you're so well trained with your longsword, Rikar changed to match that? I think it's a bit too long for me, though, so I hope it'll change back."
>>20460397"Well that's... drastic. I've never seen it change that much."
>>20460397That is quite impressive. It suits you. Sadly unless you get a much finer control over your talent we will rarely see it like this.
"Well, that's... drastic." You say. "I've never seen it change that much. Perhaps because you're so well trained with your longsword, Rikar changed to match that?"". . Perhaps." He said."That is... honestly, somewhat disturbing. The metal, I mean. For some reason, magic seems to associate you with the color black.""Darkness, maybe?" Ezekiel asked. "Like, darkness is the absence of light, Kris is the absence of magic. .That sort of thing.""I think it's a bit too long for me, though, so I hope it'll change back."He shrugged, and handed it back to you. The extra steel trembled, and cracked, and then turned into ash, and Rikar returned to it's standard form.Suddenly, the courier arrived."Queen Ishelda. The king sent me to acquire something from you?"
>>20460511"Ah, yes. For the queen." Hand him the ring, tell him how it differs from the normal, to tell the king & queen.
>>20460511"Ah! Yes. The Queen's ring. Here. Handle it with care."
>>20460511"Indeed."Wrap the ring up and hand it to him.
>>20460511Yes, I created this ring. Could you please deliver it to the Queen with my regards.
I don't think the queen is aware of this ring guys. He asked us to make it through telepathy.

>>20460557Yeah, we shouldn't ruin the surprise by asking him to deliver it to the queen.
"Ah, yes." You say, putting it in a small container. "Handle it with care, and deliver it with my regards.""Of course, your majesty." He said, took the container, and bowed. "Additionally, the king bid me to tell you that you and yours are welcome at Sosaria whenever you wish, and asks that you consider him friend."The courier bowed again, and then made his way back toward the castle."I think that's all we needed to do here, right?" Kaliel asked, looking off to the island city of Sosaria. "It is pretty, but we shouldn't waste time here."
>>20460686"I don't believe there is anything else."
>>20460686"We probably should tell them their diplomat's son tried to assasinate us, but I guess we can do that on the way back."Within earshot of Belethor.
>>20460699There's no point to telling them that. They weren't involved in the assassination attempt in any way. Bringing it up just insinuates that we think they were involved.
>>20460686I can't think of anything else. Though I will be sure to stay and visit when we no longer have such pressing matters, it's quite beautiful. Belethor have you met everyone or are there still introductions to perform?>>20460699No, just no.
>>20460721I want to see him grovel and try to appologise for something he is in no way responsible for, so we can then excuse him, and look good.
>>20460699Oh god that's the worst way to reveal it ever.If he overhears half the story there's no telling what conclusions he'll come up with. He'll probably think we're kidnapping him for revenge or some shit.
>>20460732And when the diplomat's report inevitably reaches them, it'll make us look like an ass.
>>20460753But by then we'll be in his pants on another continent, so it doesn't matter.
"I don't believe there is anything else." You say. You turn to Jormungandr's control crystal, but Ell's already there. He salutes you, and reattunes the compass for you. . and you're off.Belethor wobbles as the ship shakes, and it takes off, soaring above the city. You hear trumpets, violins, and harps celebrate your departure, as you sail toward the sea."I'm curious." Ezekiel said. "May I see Rikar?"
>>20460776"Of course. I think Kaliel never tried it, as well."
>>20460776I guess so.
>>20460776end of thread cliffhanger incoming
>>20460776Go ahead, we may as well see what it looks like for everyone. I'm particularly interested in how it looks in Grayson's paws.
"Of course. I think Kaliel never tried it, as well.""I'm just curious to see how it reacts to me." He said. You draw it, and give it to him. Immediately, Rikar. . does nothing. It falls to the ground, ignoring however much force Ezekiel is putting into it. Sluggishly, he hefts it up."Why... does this... weigh so much?" He asked, puffing, his entire body straining to keep it aloft. Finally, he sets it back down on the deck.". . I see what happens when it doesn't accept someone." The prince said.Kaliel dug her bare toes into the dirt, anxiously. "May I try?" She asked. You nod.She grabs it. . and the crystal blade turns deep, blood red. . and then black cracks crawled over it. .and the blade twitched, and shattered, the shards sprouting outwards, leaving her with what looks like a cleaver, the blood red shards connected by some strange, viscous black liquid. . that was breathing. There was something. . very, very uncomfortable about the way that sword looked, at that moment.
>>20460873"And here I thought Kristoph's longsword was disturbing."
>>20460873Take the sword off her."I think that's enough of Pass the Rikar for today."
>>20460873Kaliel, that is creepy, but in the most awesome way. It's interesting. Ell, Kiyara, Grayson, would you like to give it a try?
>>20460873"Well that's unpleasant."
>>20460873"Well, that's certainly unique."
"And here I thought Kristoph's longsword was disturbing."The sword twitched, as if it *heard* you. Oh god.Kaliel gingerly set it down again, and took three steps back. It twitched, and writhed on it's own.". . I am never touching that thing again." She said."Ell, Kiyara, Grayson. Would you like to give it a try?""Might as well." Ell said, and picked it up. . and the blade shimmered pale blue- the same color as Galadriel's Light, softly humming. He gave it to Kiyara, and it turned into a . . reflecting sliver of space, is all you can call it. A perfect mirror. She twisted it this way and that."Interesting." She said. She slid it to Grayson. Grayson picked it up between his claws, and the thing curved, becoming a long, claw-shaped blade- and flashed a muted green.
Pass Rikar to ERRBODYGrayson, Kell (is he here?), those two elves, and especially Meta guardsman!

>>20460983You see Belethor, this is why Sorcery is so interesting. I had no idea that I would create and Artifact sword that shifted to best fit its wielder. Pass it around to Jeanne, Fellwind if he wants it and then take it back ourself.Belethor, how you spin your sword in combat interests me, would you mind teaching me about it?
>>20461024I don't think we can directly interract with Meta-Knight, but we might be able to get a Competely Nondescript Guardsman to pass the blade to someone else.Wink wink, nudge nudge.Man, Pass the Rikar is going to get us killed, I know it.
>>20461011Yeah, it will probably do something different for Fellwind now. Like go blunt because of his oath, or turn into a scalpel.Don't leave the nameless soldiers and knights out. Just because the don't have names doesn't mean they don't deserve individuality.
"Fellwind, want to see if you can still use it?" "...Not particularly." He responded. "I gave it to you, and I never really intended on taking it back up.""Jeanne?"She picks it up out of Grayson's claws, and the blade's hilt slid, until it was vertically arranged."So, what." She said, punching the air with it. "I stab people by punching them? Cool.""You see, Belethor, this is why sorcery is so interesting. I had no idea that I would create an artifact sword that shifted to best fit it's wielder."Jeanne ended up giving the sword to one of the knights, and it turned a glistening bone-white steel. And then he examined it, passed it on, and so on.Finally, Rikar ended up back to you, so you sheathe it. >>20461461<I... I don't know how I feel, Mar. There's... just so much to do.>
>>20461461<But I don't know how I feel! That's the whole problem!>
>>20461461<I think I'll just see how things develop. Thanks Mar.>
>>20461461Man! I feel like a woman!♪ ba-ba-baba-baba...
>>20461461But New Arcturus is my happiness, I'm a Queen, I should prioritize my kingdom and lands over myself. Otherwise I'd be selfish.I don't know how I feel, it's much easier to beat immortals in the head with a brick than it is to deal with this stuff.
>>20461461<I feel actually quite good right now. I'm surrounded by friends, currently on another exciting adventure, and my home is the hands of people I love and trust. If that love thing sneaks up on me, I'll just face it like the queen I am.>
<I... I don't know how I feel, Mar. There's... just so much to do.><It's just. . last time you -> She froze, and you clearly your own reflection, right in front of your eyes- strange. <Last time? I don't know why I said that.. It's just. . you just need to relax, and let yourself feel. If you don't like either of them, that's okay. If you don't like anybody, that's okay. As long as you aren't denying yourself, okay?><I will.> You say. <Thanks, Mar.>The two of you continue talking into the night, until she falls asleep. Your ring buzzes with her dreams, but you can't get anything clearer.
Ishelda beating Eidolon with a brick just reminded me of that screen cap with the PC one shotting Khorne or something with one.
rolled 1 = 1>>20461545Focus. See if we can pick anything up. Don't actually push into her dreams though.
>>20461545>She froze, and you clearly your own reflection, right in front of your eyes- strange.Huh?
>>20461545Put ourselves in our nightdress in her dreams. "Oh Marigold, my back is so sore, why don't you just give it a rub."I jest, find Grayson, and attempt to fall asleep on him under the stars.
>>20461561Damn. I guess we aren't getting to see any of her lesbian fantasies then.
>>20461545Let's not listen in on her dreams. That would be impolite. We wouldn't want anybody to do it with ours, either.
>>20461561Good job, hero. You gave a little girl nightmares.>>20461572It's the Void Queen, who denied her feelings.
>>20461561Oh, fuck. Let's not intrude on her dreams, completely ignoring the roll. The roll doesn't help, though.
>>20461561Don't do anything involving her dreams.>>20461545Find Grayson, cuddle up to his warm fur and sleep under the stars.
>>20461583It was for listening in, not intruding. All that means is we get nothing from it.
>>20461561Good thing you specified not pushing in.
>>20461561I fear Exabyte is going to do that because of the nat 1, but I don't think Ishelda would, or should, do that. She respects other people's privacy, or at least I like to think so.
>>20461596Or it means we get random useless snatches of her subconscious which give Ishelda nightmares.
You focus, but you don't get anything.Instead, you lay on Grayson's sleeping form, and lie there, unable to sleep. What did she mean. . last time?Suddenly, standing in the field of the curled up Galadriel's Light, was a figure in a long, black cloak, a golden sword sat on their hip. The hood, somehow, masked their face, for the most part- all you could see was a porcelain chin, and dry, cracked, purple lips.<Welcome.> They say, their voice perfectly neutral. You couldn't recognize it. <Let us speak, shall we?>>End of thread.>My twitter is @futureexabyte>I'm sticking around to answer questions, and I fuck around on the IRC sometimes (all the time. #Exabyte on Rizon.)
>>20461637No, go away evil lady. I'm cuddling with my bear.
>>20461637Fuck yes, best waifu makes her first proper appearance.I wonder what relationship advice she's going to give us. "Don't do what I did"?
>>20461671I do wonder how we're going to romance her. What dark eyes you have, my dear.
>>20461794What delightful rusty nails you have in your mouth.
>>20461800I thought rusty nails was a demon thing, not a VQ thing.
>>20461830VQ can't be demons, because VQ is us, and we aren't demons.Maybe if I say it often enough, it might come true
>>20462020Have not met it yet, so I can't really write that.
>>20462032Finish the Ishelda/Raziel one then. Or Ishelda/Newly_rescued_blackhole_Azure
>>20462046He's not the one who wrote the Ishelda/Raz, I am.and now the quest has changed too much for me to finish that one. But I will write a new one, and it'll be even better.y'know, as soon as we pick someone in a canon sort of way and I get hard inspired.
>>20462183You sir, are a terrible person. Finish the work you've begun.
>>20462206No, it's terrible compared to what I'm going to do. I will however release what I already have if you want it.
>>20462206-and then they had sex.The End.
>>20462649You're sick. How could you enjoy such graphic depravity?

>>20462677Hey, that's just me, baby.>>20462703That is some of the best writing, grammar, and spelling I've seen in a while. Incredible story. 10/10 would read again.
>>20462703Damn. I can't top this. Show's over; You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.Quest EndNot really.
