Hey there, fellow /tg/ anons! It's time for another epic journey into the depths of our collective creativity. Grab your dice, your notebooks, and your wildest ideas because today, we embark on a quest to craft a brand new tabletop gaming setting that'll leave players and GMs alike awestruck.

To get the creative juices flowing, let's start with a few basic elements. I'll toss in the first ones:

Setting Name: The world's name is "Eldria."

Tech Level: Eldria is a high-fantasy world with medieval technology but sprinkled with some rare, mysterious, and unstable magical artifacts.

Races: Elves, Dwarves, and Humans are the core races. However, there are a few rare, enigmatic races lurking on the fringes.

Magic: Magic is intrinsic to Eldria, but it's divided into different schools, each with unique powers. Some of these schools include elemental, necromancy, and illusion.

Conflict: The world is on the brink of a colossal war between two powerful factions. The cause? A struggle for control over an ancient, world-shattering artifact.

Now, it's your turn, anons! Add your ideas, expand on these points, and let's create a rich, vibrant setting together. Share your thoughts, lore, maps, and anything else you can think of. Let the world of Eldria take shape before our very eyes!

The planet is mostly tidally locked so one side gets varying amounts of sunlight and the other side ranges from dusk to absolute darkness.

Too much of a prompt, no map

Alright, I like that

That's boring, this is a theatre of the mind setting

Large amounts of water are lighter than air for some reason, so the oceans and lakes are up in the air, with rivers flowing from them down to earth. As such, the inhabitants have learned to "sail" these rivers to travel the sky oceans. The oceans and lakes are filled with flying fish. In areas of the planet that always get sun, the people have built cities underneath them to shield from the harsh sun.

That's dope.

Wouldn't the oceans act as gigantic magnifying lenses though? I'd almost think that the are beneath the oceans might be on fire from the sun being magnified through them onto the scorched and molten earth below.

This planet has just been discovered by humanity and a land rush has begun in which a multitude of nation states and mega-corps rush to colonize the newly found world. So far, it's the only inhabitable planet found by the human race.

That's not to say mankind is unknown. Only he has yet to encounter his neighbors.
>Get Lots: The planet is on the route for a planetary Walmart ran by jaded androids who just make 'deliveries' by dumping all their crap into the planet's atmosphere. The Haulerdrone has enough writeups as is so he just ignores it so the Managebots get yelled at by the Mainframe instead of him.
>The Federation of United Planets: sits on the opposite end of the Milky Way. Every once in a while, you can pick up an entertainment broadcast or a documentary. Pleasant, cheerful, heroic at times, but stagnant. It's more the Old Republic than the UFEP.
>The Azgul Ascendancy: a batlike race that needs to suck blood. Horrible neighbors. Distant from humanity.
>The Drakon Dominate: a race of Reptilloids that hates the Azgul. Greedy, imperialist, yet admirable in their own way. Distant from Earth.
>Vermen: Rat-like bipeds that scavenge everything. Low attention spans and a mercantile culture have made them natural adepts for corporatism even with their disgusting nutritional needs. Getting closer to human space with every new colony sphere.

Thanks! Always found it a cool idea. And no, because the ocean mass is so deep light doesn't penetrate as much. Same as on the bottom of lakes/oceans on Earth.

Now I'm imagining a rain of deadly icicles on the dark side of the world where they fall like daggers until they impact and melt, then the liquid droplets collect and float back up to accumulate into a large enough cloud to get cold and form into icicle daggers again.

That's awesome

Sounds cool, and not that different from Earth's water circulation system. And how would thunder work? Would the clouds sit between the oceans and the earth? And how would plants grow? Maybe trees would have roots in their crowns growing upwards.
>>
>>90336232
>And how would plants grow?
What if the dominant form of plant life was similar to lilypads, in that they floated on the surface of water and their roots didn't anchor into anything solid?
>>
>>90337359
Can you elaborate on that?
>>
>>90336232
You're right that is similar to Earth's water circulation system

Like all plant life is hydroponics
