http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=House%20and%20DominionYou are Sonia Reynard, Squadron Leader and man at arms for-Wait. No, that's not right. You are Sonia Reynard, Squadron Leader and Knight of the House of Jerik-Dremine! While it seems like a lifetime ago its only been a few months since you became a corvette pilot and fought in your first combat missions. In that time the Factions of the Centri Cluster have mobilized and gone to war against the Pirate Warlords who have plagued civilized space for decades. Expeditionary fleets from the Factions are now hitting back and the much often disarrayed Houses of the Dominion have ceased internecine warfare for the duration of the campaign. Whether this will lead to a cold war or other arms buildup among the Factions after the pirates are dealt with remains a lesser concern at the moment.Regardless its a time for up and coming young officers to make a name for themselves and you've done your best to do just that. The first starship you did battle with was one you later captured and have commanded for much of your career. Up until recently the Attack Cruiser Bittenfeld has given you an edge in firepower and served as a second home. Intelligence also took an interest in your vessel, and you volunteered for a mission behind enemy lines to track down a cloaked enemy ship. Success netted you a fortune and the support needed to eventually become a Knight.
You've distinguished yourself primarily through fighting in space but are no stranger to ground combat and boarding actions. In your second mission you assisted Marines in retaking a cruise liner boarded by slavers. Later you took part in ground actions on Loran 2 and the Rebel planet Gesaur securing strateigic locations. Most recently you helped capture the disabled super heavy cruiser Forbearance. For the past month you've commanded the Second squadron of the Third Attack Wing while fighting for control of the Smugglers Run. In the not too distant future you'll have to decide upon an offer extended by Knight Commander Winifred; To take command of the Third Attack Wing or to lead a new Battlecruiser squadron. But that day is not today. Today you have the unenviable task of running convoy escort once again. The increasingly large convoy back to the House FOB has already begun forming up for departure from the minefield surrounding Forbearance. Given the amount of equipment that's being brought in with each trip it should only be a few more days until the new station is near self sufficient.Your current ship is the Battlecruiser Gae Bolg, recently captured from a mercenary group. It has long range spinal mount heavy phase cannons and a torpedo armament to give any ship of similar size pause. Your ship has finished being refit with newer torpedo resistant armor and the rest of the squadron is near 100%.
>Is there anything you wish to take care of before the squadron departs? If not, select which sector Navigator's guild Frigate is to be deployed to. The Navigator Frigate is capable of picking up enemy activity in any sector touching the one it is currently in. This will give advance warning of enemy presence regardless of jamming and allow you to call for assistance.
>>20222981I spoke to another player yesterday, and we'd be very grateful if you could clear up a few things.-Does the Knight Commander want us to take the Attack Wing, or the Battlecruiser Squadron? The way she put it was a bit confusing.-Both Mike and Alex can be promoted to knight? The thing with one rise in social class the ruling house does can't be afforded by our house, right?
>>20223040> Gae BolgDid we ever reach consensus on that name? I know one anon suggested it and you said it would be a preliminary designation, but really? It sounds... gay.
>>20223109Very good, For House and Dominion! I'd say deploy the Navigators Frigate at the second sector we must pass.Other than that? I hope we got drunk again at the evening after we were knighted!
>>20223109>Navigator frigate to the hex before the second wing (should be the third dangerous sector)>>20223138I'm fine with Gae Bolg
>>20223138Well, Bittenfeld was a much more awesome name, but I don't really care that much. And nobody has suggested anything else.
>>20223138I think so. Also, its the Irish equivelent of Excaliber. Except its a lance.
>>20223109Station the Navigator Frigate between the two ambush points close to the 2nd Attack Wing's location.
>>20223138I was the one who suggested it, so i might be biased, but i like names out of Irish Mythology! And Gae Bolg was a pretty powerful weapon.

Oh, and since we have a few thousand torps in reserve we should let everyone top off for free b4 we start. Also might want to consider making a 1d4 chan page to stop people from constantly asking for the following:RPSRPSquadron composition (oh and can we change squad to flight to keep people from being constantly confused?)Purchase optionsSquadron reserve
>>20223238We need the SRP from the torp to call in reinforcement though
>>20223210Well, the other name that was suggested was Vulture, and that sounds like a pirate ship. Gungnir?
>>20223257>GungnirOooh, that's something I could get behind.
>>20223123She would be fine if you took either, though she would prefer to put Knight Captain Sylvan in charge of the Battlecruisers. She was a bit shocked you'd decided to take one of them with your previous preference for higher speed.>Both Mike and Alex can be promoted to knight? The thing with one rise in social class the ruling house does can't be afforded by our house, right?Yes they can be promoted. The majority of nobles will prefer to not promote someone to Knight who has come up from the lower class without exceptional circumstances. If the person display qualities and skills desirable in a Knight it will make this more likely to happen. Having a higher ranked Knight as a sponsor will help this considerably. >>20223133sup>>20223168> And nobody has suggested anything else.This. >>20223415Yeah saw a thread post a link to that the other day. Seems handy enough. You send a message along to base that you'd like the Navigator Frigate positioned to scan the last two sectors like the previous time you went through. Some of the other squadrons have been rather badly beat up on their escort runs. From what you've heard first squadron lost a corvette and a transport was disabled and had to be abandoned. After your first jump your receive a message from command. "They've detected a small group of ships along the run in the third last sector. Do we want to have the second squadron redeploy there before we arrive?" "What kind of force are we talking about?" You ask."Mostly corvettes from the signatures but there might be a light cruiser." >>20223386Another option, although 1d4chan has the advantige of being a convienient place to tell people if you are going to be late or not doing the quest this week. Not warning people that you're not running the quest when you said you'd run the quest is one of my pet peaves on this board. And one that you are not guilty of thankfully.
>>20223473You must not have been following this from the start. TSTG is meticulous about that. I think he moved the quest to another day of the week twice, and always announced it in the thread before.Otherwise it's always Tuesdays, 20:00 GMT.
>>20223456>[ ] Keep them in reserve, we can handle a few shipsKeep them in reserve. Our forces should be more than enough to scare them off.
>>20223456Its not like second wing has anything to do. Send them in behind the enemy. If we take those out the pirates might be more careful in the future. Let none escape
>>20223503I just said he did not suffer from that problem.
>>20223574Sorry. I got into the bad habit of only skimming namefag posts most of the time.I apologise.
Have them get ready to jump in to support at a moments notice. If we are cut off by jaming they should jump in to help us.
+ skylark.[x] keep them in reserve. - how about a squadron of ours kick the hornets nest to see if they have anything else?
>>20223608Eh don't worry about it. I only namefagged myself after I got confused and started arguing with myself. (note: this last bit is a total lie)
I dont really understand why there is such a disgust for namefaging on tg. Its necessary sometimes and mostly not a problem.
"We can handle our own if its just a few ships, still better to put them on alert so they're ready to jump just in case." The second jump remains without incident and you prepare for the third, checking shields, weapons and all of the other systems. You're glad you have the new armor, that SP torp hit you took could have been much worse if it had damaged something vital. Like your drive core. Checking in with Drake the Bittenfeld is also back at 100% after the system failure last time. The squadron jumps two seconds ahead of the freighters. It should be enough time to begin engaging the enemy or scare them off."Enemies detected. Some standard corvettes and a modified Vengence type, its has some similaraties to the B-type's main body." reports Arron. "Does anyone know if there's a god of salvage?" you ask. "Because if not someone should totally make one up." "Minefield! That Cruiser is deploying mines!" Shouts Arron, picking up small objects in the fleets path.Kavos calls the sensor data up on his screen. "Hex mines, a few hundred of them." Heavy Nuclear Mines AKA Hex Mines are a larger but cheaper version of mine compared to those deployed around Forbearance. They use six nuclear warheads each pointed in one of the cardinal directions while maneuvering thrusters ring the device. "Convoy transports are reducing speed to avoid triggering the mines." Kavos informs you.Arron speaks up again. "Enemy attack cruiser is retreating, its shielded from pursuit by the mines but the corvettes are moving to flank us.">Your orders?
>>20223680Have second wing jump to flank the attack cruiser. We'll take long range potshots at the coveries with our main guns. Can we shoot our way through the minefield?
>>20223680Do we have any nukes in our launchers? And would these help clearing out the mines?
>>20223680Everyone but the "Name unclear" and Flight 3 intercept corvettes. Call in Second squadron to intercept the cruiser, it is a fat price. Name unclear and Flight 3 shield freighters from mines and help the other Flights out if they have trouble with the corvettes.
>>20223680Have our ship track the corvettes and open up on them once they've strayed into our range a bit. Hopefully we'll get a second shot on them if they decide to flee.Call in second Wing to hit that attack cruiser and general support. Some of our ships should take some shots into that minefield, in the event the enemy is going to command them to thrust toward us or something. The rest should prepare to crush the flanking enemy ships once they close.
You order all ships to stop then call in the second wing to cut off the Cruiser. Lucky bastards will probably get a salvage claim on it. Arron mumbles something about reatreat before Kavos waves him to be quiet. "Point defense guns might be able to clear path through the mines. Normal particle beams should take some of them out but would not likely detonate them. The mass drivers still on the Bittenfeld could also set them off but ammo stores might be problem." "We have some Nukes, would they work?" You ask. "A bit iffy. We would need direct hits to be sure they died, and even then I dont know if we have enough." "Cant we just fly around them like those corvettes are doing?" Asks Linda. The mines will be a threat to any future convoys you decide, better to deal with them now. "Point defense on all ships open fire. Third Flight stick close to the transports everyone else get ready to intercept the enemy corvettes." Your dozen point defense turrets open fire along with those on the other ships in the squadron. Ball explosions light up the minefield where solid slugs strike the mines and set them off. Occasionally theose struck by particle beams detonate, most likely do to a safety or proximity setting, but most simply fly apart into their constituent pieces.Roll 2d20 for mine clearing and combat

>>20223940That turned out well
>>20223903Let Second Wing get their claim. We are soon comanding them. I hope.
>>20223994Actually that would be second squad, second wing will not be under our command
>>20224051Right. I am getting confused by the unit designations here.
Off in the distance you spot corvettes and a small number of attack cruisers jump in and begin chasing down the fleeing Mine layer. Well good luck to them. As the flanking enemy forces enter maximum range you bring your ship around and fire off a few shots with the heavy phase cannon. One older standard corvette is reduced to a cloud of molten metal before the fuel stores and reactors reach super critical levels. The fire from the rest of your squadron might lack the same sort of penetrative punch but is made up for with superior numbers. With that problem about to solve itself any second now you turn back to the mines. "I'm detecting some irregularities in the mine placement." Arron tells you. "They were placed rather poorly, we could line up shots with multiple mines at once letting us clear them five times faster." "Send that sensor data to everyone, even the transports, they all have weapons." You switch coms to broadcast to the fleet present. "This is Knight Reynard to everyone, we're broadcasting fire lanes that will clear out the mines faster. Even phase cannon should be of some help." The freighters clear a path straight through the field in roughly a minute while your faster ships skim the outer reaches. Within five minutes enough of the mines have been cleared you're confident none of the transports will take anything but superficial shield damage. Some of the free floating warheads strike the shields of your ships as they head through first but even those are few. Second squadron soon reports they've disabled the mine layer. Two of their squadrons will remain here until the salvage ships can arrive while the other squadron accompanies you.
>>20224173Second WING soon reports they've disabled the mine layer. Two of their squadrons will remain here until the salvage ships can arrive while the other squadron accompanies you.
>>20224189Heh. It seems i am not the only one with unit designation problems.
>>20224173Now we get to see what that 100 brought us. I'm thinking delicious salvage.
The jump into the fourth sector reveals... "What the heck, is this a trap?" you ask no one in particular.A Jenning class assault corvette appears to be drifting uncontrolled through the area. [ ] Investigate (Delay rest of convoy)[ ] Investigate (send rest of convoy ahead)[ ] let 2nd Wing investigate (Keep on moving)[ ] other
>>20224275Investigate (Send rest of convoy)
>>20224275This is the last sector right? Investigate with 3rd flight and have the remaining forces go on ahead.
>>20224314That sounds like a good idea.
>>20224275can the convoy jump to the FOB from this point without being ambushed? If so, let them jump with minimal escort. If not, I'm thinking we leave a flight (Daska? Volunteer?) with Second WING just in case it is a trap, and we'll return with the rest of the forces once the transports jump to the FOB
Sorry got called away. >>20224340>>20224314They should be fine. You order the rest of the convoy to jump except for Mike's flight then launch a shuttle. They board without incident and make their way to the bridge. "I really hope there isn't a count down timer with ten seconds left on it when we get to the bridge." The team leader says to you. A minute later they report the ship is clear. "They set a distress signal to broadcast before abandoning ship but they changed their mind at the last second. Must have realised it would bring down a bunch of our ships on their heads. I think the life support systems were compromised. There isn't much spare equipment aboard that could have been used to repair it and the escape pods are gone. We'll keep looking for anything suspicious but you could probably call in the salvage teams now."afk 20 minutes for dinner. Is there anything you want to have taken care of back at base?
>>20224549I'd like to know if we have the two days we need to rip the phase beams out and replace them with 4 heavy pulse cannons. Otherwise it would be interesting to know if we can replace a large part of the shuttlebays with additional engines and if that could propell us in a higher speed category. If not, we might look if we can find us some starfighters. Also look for the picture we commissioned.
>>20224591I personally like the longer range of our current setup.
>>20224759Well, but the pulse cannons have more than double the firepower of our beams, since we have only 2 of them installed. I think.
>>20224591Short answer no, you've got 12 Hours.Structural modifications for more drive systems would need a lot more work. The shuttle bays are on the underside amidships. Not ideally placed to put engines there.>StarfightersYou have 4 shuttles so far so that leaves you with room for...>16 shuttles or 64 starfightersI think I miscalculated this last time, or maybe the hangars are optimized for starfighter carrying? You have room for 48 fighters. You have 1232 RP Available starfighters2x Arrow Interceptor 0RP (Squadron salvage)2x V-688 Enforcer 0RP (Squadron salvage)Z5 general purpose starfighter -150RPZ5H torpedo bomber -200RP
>>20224809Hmmm I'm still going with getting 2 to 4 more shuttle then fill the rest with Z5 and Z5H to a ratio of 3:1
>>20224809Man, those starfighters are far too expensive for our current purse. I would suggest taking the free ones and then focus on getting a few Z5s, we dont want to use too many torpedo bombers since they will likely sustain sizable casualties. And are expensive as hell.
>>20224779Be aware that Heavy phase cannon pierce shields and armor more effectively than smaller phase cannon or pulse weaponry. Still, at close range with their rate of fire 4 Heavy pulse cannons would deal more damage overall. When you return to base the first thing you check for is if the painter you commissioned has relocated as well. The interior of the asteroid base is still being refit but much of the modular base sections have been in place long enough for suppliers to catch up. It takes the better part of an hour but eventually find who you're looking for. "Ah, you found me at last. Quite bothersome having your workshop relocated without much notice, and the view isn't much. I've been meaning to talk to the station manager about placing monitors to show space outside this great rock in space."After a few minutes to older Dro'all gets back on topic. "Your painting is finished, I completed it just before the move. I've lost most of my inspiration since our arrival here." While members of art committees back home might not class it as a masterpiece it is rather well done. You'll have to show the others later and see what they think.
>>20224941I like the two current weapons, personally. Being able to lay the hurt on at distance is quite nice.
>>20224941Could we simply put him on our ship as long as we aren't doing secret stuff? And I think we should probably keep our current heavy cannons.
>>20224941Well, we arent as fast anymore, and our squadron is already good enough at short range. Lets stay with the long range guns. Hm, other than that, hows our investment into the armor factory of the other house doing?
>>20224848>>20224917>Man, those starfighters are far too expensive for our current purse. You could always grab some wrecks the next time you encounter a ship graveyard and have the techs repair them. >>20225036You're not sure how well that would work, or if he'd even want to go aboard a combat ship. Still its something to keep in mind. Before doing anything else you check in on the status of the House fleet. With any luck they'll have news on the Third attack wing being reassigned. You get hold of an ops officer that has spare time."The First Attack Wing is currently refitting. Apparently they got hold of some brand new attack cruisers from the Kavarians along with a few other toys. I don't know all the details but they should have some punch now."The first attack wing have been bogged down fighting in the same system for an extended period and are being moved into reserve to concentrate on repairs and making sure they have enough crew for their ships. Their casualties were still rather light so they should be back in action in a couple of days. Before you can do anything else you receive a text message from Alex challenging you to a mock duel.Mike contacts you next, letting you know that the other pilots plan to run a laser tag game with the excuse being that it's for survival training.Daska you find out is busy with refit checks on her ship.[ ] Duel[ ] Laser tag [ ] Do something else

"We'll just run a couple of light sims so everyone doesn't get worn out. Meybe just the firing range. See you in a few." You meet up with Alex at one of the fencing practice rooms on station. "Hey you made it!" He yells over to you waving. "I hope you don't mind holographic weapons, I'd rather not have one of us killed by a misstep." He leads you into one of the side rooms where racks of weapons of varying types line the walls. Holsters with holographic versions of each one are attached to the sides. Alex grabs one that looks like a basket hilted rapier 80cm long. >1 anon suggested putting a basket hilt on our HF blade last week. Look for one of that type or something else?

Alex says when you walk into the padded mat in the center of the training area. "Now that you're a Noble you'll have all kinds of crazies after you, most of which have money rather than just the ones hoping to collect a bounty. We're in wartime though so you wont get challenges from other Knights unless something goes really wrong." "What about you Alex, you're not worried about being challenged?" The two of you start off slow, light taps then jabs slowly graduating into heaver strike and attempts to bat the others sword out of the way. Each time the weapons connect a hum rings through the handle simulating a pair of HF Blades impacting. The few times you get close Alex steps back out of range at the last second, his sword giving him a slightly longer reach. You yourself take a few grazes, a mild shock and numbness carrying through you wherever you're hit by the holographic blade. The small hits quickly add up and you need to stop for a minute or two. Switching to a longer sword you try again, the weight is a little different but overall its well balanced. You nearly score some hits on him this time but you soon realize he hasn't been going full out before. You put more effort into it, trying to putting more speed and power behind your swings but you still dont land a hit. Still you make him work for every one he lands on you. After a few more minutes Alex calls a time out. "Not bad. Your instructor found someone to show you the ropes?""Yeah one of the Marines whenever I have some spare time between missions." you answer. He nods. "I think you need to practice a bit more without your power armor. The extra strength might be throwing you off."You laugh at that. First more practice with the damn armor now more without it.

After a minute of watching the others plink at targets, holographic or not, it becomes easy to pick out the few who have any real skill. Using remaining data from the VT Boat program DSS developed a design that could -if necessary- be handed over to the main body of Tarketta with a minimum of security problems. This class was one of three which competed in the Assault Corvette trials following the Faction wars. All prototypes were deployed █████████████████████████████████ where they were proven to be adaquate. The Jenning is lighter and faster than most corvettes but has considerably less armor. Armed with a torpedo launcher and two fusion pulse cannons the designers decision to avoid phase weaponry drew much criticism. When the class failed to win the design trials Tarketta bought the rights to the design from DSS and began a limited production run regardless. Numerous Terran colonies bought the ships to assist in defense while the fleets were being rebuilt. In the time since many of these vessels have fallen into the hands of mercenaries and criminals otherwise unable to acquire similar ships.Rumors persist that in the past decades with piracy on the rise Tarketta has revived production so they might be sold to Mercenaries or distant colonies.

First round is something of a one sided massacre. Red team is systematically knocked off and sent running back to their home base for a respawn until they've used up their allotment. You took a simulated wound but nothing that would slow you down. The other pilots have developed a new found respect for your ability to sneak up on them with a silenced weapon. This has normally been made all the easier by Mike making a racket with his shotgun and various simulated rounds. Everything from mini grenades to incendiaries. At least one player had returned to their base still covered in fake flames. The second round teams are restacked to give the less experienced a more serious numbers advantage. You, Mike and Vaughn face off against the rest and its hard work from the outset. By the time the round finishes the two teams have evenly matched scores. You pause to catch your breath. There were some close calls there, although Lorraine did manage to double tap you in the head when you rounded a corner. Everyone on blue team had to respawn at least once. You meet up with the others while still breathing a bit hard."What should we do about the team this time?" Mike asks, grinning but before you can answer a new voice fills the maze. "Yellow team has entered the field." The computer informs everyone. "Who's on Yellow team?" You ask. "Yellow team leader is Sergeant Jing Ki. Yellow team members are as follows." A list of names scrolls down all showing Marine ID tags, all listed as on medical leave. Most of them were wounded fighting on the Forbearance.>Your orders?
>>20227491Well, if yellow team is large enough, and okay with it, blue and red should join forces this time.

"Lets not lose this horribly!" You tell the others. "Did you say lose horribly?" "Team Deathmatch! Second level unlocked!" "What second level?!" You ask. You look up through the open ceiling of the maze and through the smoke you make out figures running along catwalks above. Your map updates with 3 ramps leading to the upper levels. The Marines don't wait, firing down into the maze with phase rifles and pulse pistols. "Break by flights!" Everyone splits up, heading in different directions. You yourself join the pilots from first flight. For the most part you have one good player with a few of the not so good. A few of your people are forced to respawn before they can get their bearings. You have to warn off some of the other squads from making runs at the ramps, the Marines will have turned them into kill zones. Instead you stay mobile and force them to come down into the lower levels to find you. The marines get a few more kills sneaking up with holo knives and jabbing your people in the back. Things are not looking good until Mike's team causes a large enough diversion for your squad to get upstairs with silenced weapons. Its a cheap tactic but you ambush a couple of squads of marines forced to respawn before moving to another location. Both teams dwindle as respawns are used up. You got knocked off twice down below and have to play it safe. Finally you sneak up behind Ki who is using a replica of his X-ray laser and hit him with your holo blade.
>>20228048"Not bad." He comments before moving off towards the respawn point. One of his teammates jump you a second later with a knife and SMG. Mike comes rushing past a second later and shotguns the Marine before tossing a grenade pulled from one of the others. The fake explosion fills the area near the yellow team spawn point with golden light. "Red team wins." Announces the computer. "Well that was close!" Yells Mike over the now fading music.

You dont have a real duty uniform with your new rank insignia yet. You'll have to see about one later. "I'm only recently promoted but I still fit both of those categories." you tell her before your biometrics are scanned. "I see, how may I help you today?" She says adjusting her tone slightly. But only slightly. "I need to see a financial consultant before my ship leaves dock in... four hours.""Well, I'll see what I can do." you're told before a wrap around HUD pops up as she scans through those available. The teller is more than a little flustered at this point but gets you a chair, seeming equal parts shocked and outraged someone would ask her to do that. You take a seat next to a wall, still close enough to hear what's going on. You're not sure how long it is you may have nodded off but you definitely make out a man asking the teller. "Who is that?""Oh, a pilot that wanted to talk to someone about the state of their finances." "Is she a noble or something?" "Well er yes. Sort of. She said she was just promoted to Knight." "God dammit Pam, I've been free for the last two hours.""But she-" "I don't care. Get her in here." Two minutes later you're sitting in a leather chair in front of one of the same man's rather large wooden desk. "So how can I help you today Sir? You tell him about how you've invested in a House Posat manufacturing firm. Armor production. Then authorize him to look through your records."Really? Its hurting some of the Jerik-Dremine manufacturers a little bit but they'll be fine, the same materials are used everywhere else and they always bounce back. Hmm. I'm beginning to see the problem." He shows you a screen you cant quite make sense of. Parts of it are pie charts within pie charts the rest is a mess of economic data."It looks like the House might be funneling off the profits to support their war effort. Its not technically illegal but its bad for business in the short term, and shows signs they might not make it to the long term. You're still getting your cut of profits the company produces, but that cut is being made after House Posat has taken the majority." "Can we stop it?" you ask him. "I'm certain we could but, from what I'm seeing it might be the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. Without the influx of money the entire economy of the House may collapse at this time. Now, try to stay calm there are other ways to do this."
>>20229208He lays it out for you as follows.1) Call them on their BS. House Posat economy collapses leaving a power vacuum that other Houses such as your could exploit to capture territory. Their military would retreat to the homelands leaving those Houses currently in the smugglers run to attempt to fill the gap. As a shareholder you could seize some of their assets.2) Make a deal with them for money or shares later. Once their economy recovers they pay you back then with interest or if they're unable to do so with more shares in the company3) Build your case and sit on it until they recover and the area is secured. Only then launch a legal action that would harm their House, potentially strengthen yours and add to your wallet. The delay though could buy time for them to find a way to counter such threats.4) Sell off your shares in the company. May hurt their economy but not nearly as much as others. 5) Do nothing. 6) [Insert brilliant player made plan here]>Other questions to be answered soon

Some Houses are up others are down. Civilian trade took a bad hit from the raids and still hasnt recovered. We dont expect it to for another six months I'm afraid. All of the military manufacturers numbers are through the roof though.">Did the broknight who helped us secure the station send us money? Priceless.
>>20229228i'm liking the sound of option one.i'm smelling blood in the water...
>>20229386Right now I'd look into investing in Metal (shipyard will need those for a while) and technology (we have that stealth tech coming up in a bunch of time)
>>20229436How about some kind of recovery and salvage business? The whole area we're currently in seems to be teeming with stuff we just need to find and claim as our own.
>>20229446Those seem to be military operations and not private ones but I may be wrong can we get a confirmation?
>>20229228I'd say we should either choose option 2 or 3, but we discussing option 1 with the knight commander is probably sensible as well.
>>20229460Houses include salvage operations as part of their military for some obvious reasons. Processing all of it however can still be handed off to civilian concerns if there's enough of it, especially scrap metals. While a House will normally have some metals reprocessing, they just cant spare personnel to deal with large quantities. Military salvage teams prioritize recovery of equipment that can be repaired, or used to repair other ships or equipment they already have. Most people seems to be for at least discussing option one with the Knight Commander just in case.>Priority objective added! : Fate of a House
>>20229547How much would House Posat owe us if we didn't do option 1? Could they join our house as a, junior partner, or something if things don't go too well for them?

Actually by the dual act of investing and getting the armor deal put through you may have contributed towards the House reaching this point. Without the influx of money from House Jerik-Dremine they doubtlessly would have ceased all offensive operations and wouldn't have been able to afford any of the mercenaries they've been been using to help push the offensive forward. The going so far might have been a good deal tougher without their off screen support.>>20229562Depending on how much interest you strong armed them into could be quite a bit. A controlling stake in their armor production company is not out of the question. >Could they join our houseNo, they'd have to fall much much farther for that to happen. If it wasn't wartime and their rival Houses attacked their home territories it wouldn't be out of the question. The worst that could happen is selling off territory and assets they hold in the Smugglers Run to your House (or another) at a reduced rate. As it is there are already rumors that they'll sell off that one abandoned colony world to anyone who wants it dirt cheap. When a planet is falling into its sun, regardless of how many millennia it will take most people just arent interested.

>>20229952read the map...
>>20229952Darkest green are sectors that are fully secured. No more badguys, and if they do show up they can expect heavy casualties. Light green are sectors your or allied squadrons have cleared of hostile forces and seeded with sensor buoys. They're not really held down yet though and enemies could renter the area. Thankfully the sensors would pic them up... unless the FTL coms or the sensors the buoys use are being jammed. Lightest green are of course the likely ambush points.
>>20229987Yeah, dark green means secured and turquoise/really_light_green means likely ambush point. Still doesn't say what the lighter green means.

As the new convoy forms up in preparation to move out a ship you don't recognize moves into position to join you a few hundred thousand Km out. "This is the Navigators guild starship Clear Skies. We have business farther down the run, we'd like to request permission to join your convoy." The vessel is another type you haven't seen before. Similar to a Medium cruiser in size its forward half resembles a scaled down Sydney class, though thats where the similarity ends. The wider flattened aft section houses four large sublight drives, and banks of FTL drive plates give the impression that it should be rather fast. >Let them join up or have them wait and find another way?

"Fleet jumping." On the bright side, there is no minefield waiting for you this time. On the downside you're immediately hit by phase cannon fire from about twenty Peacock class ships. The same battleship from before is back too, and doesnt wait for your shields to get low before opening fire. You tilt your ship back enough to take aim at the battleship and open fire. "Additional contacts, Jenning class, coming in from the opposide direction." Reports Arron. "They are going to force us to split our fire. We should use our Y-Type transports for support." Says Kavos. "Their phase cannon are long range but it might draw fire towards them." Note: While Y-Type transports technically carry heavy phase cannon turrets their ship systems lack the power output to fully utilise them. They might have the same sort of range, but at a fraction of the ability to pierce shields and armor. "This is Clear Skies, where do you want us?" Asks the captain of the other ship.>Your orders? Also, roll 1d20 for combat effectiveness.

>>20230691Well it could be a lot worse
>Yeah I seriously doubt anyone else is going to roll after that, though alternate plans are always welcome. "Clear skies, can you throw some fire towards those incoming assault corvettes? We'll have the transports provide cover fire. If you need us to swing a flight of ships to your side of the formation for help don't hesitate to say so." "Understood. Going weapons free." A mix of phase cannon and point defense fire begins to pour out from the medium cruiser towards the other group of enemy corvettes. They follow up with the occasional torpedo for good measure. Combined with fire from the transports and its enough to stall their advance for the moment. Your squadron focuses fire on the Peacocks trying to remove the small but annoying vessels from the fight. In some ways they're worse than Scarabs as they at least had to get closer to use their pulse cannon, these ones sit back at the far edges of phase cannon range. A pair of your heavy phase cannon shots tear through two of the ships destroying them while the rest of the squadron begins to deal damage to the others. Radiator arrays are torn off by near misses and torpedo detonations. "Sir, the arrays on that battleship are messing with our torpedo locks.""Anything we can do about it?" You ask. "I have an idea sir." Says Daska "Mind your point defense fire."
Four Type 4 Attack bombers streak out from the convoy, their engines burning bright. They're not headed straight for the enemy, they'd be suicide with the levels of fire being exchanged, but a few degrees off. After closing the distance sufficiently the fighters turn, launch a pair of torpedoes each then retreat from the point defense fire still coming from the remaining Peacocks. Eight SP Torps hit the battleship's port side destroying one of the arrays, some of the sublight drives and generally making a mess of the hull. The remaining enemies immediately about face and run for it. Torpedo fire from the squadron are able to land hits on the vessel now, dropping its sheilds and striking the aft sections even as it attempts to run for it. One of your heavy phase cannon shots drills the main body, blasting out a plume of molten metal and fusion flame and leaving the battleship adrift. "That's going to be a pain to salvage. We destroyed 40% of its hull." complains Arron.
>>20230999What kind of firepower does that thing have anyways?"I just hope I can claim it without trouble..."
After calling in the salvage fleet and Second Wing to police the wreckage you reform the convoy and proceed to the next jump. "This sector is clear, stand by all ships for jump to the last danger area." You contact Daska in the few minutes of down time you have before the next jump. "You must have spent a lot of RP on those torpedoes just now." You state more than ask. "About that, Mike said you were busy at the time and I couldn't get hold of you. We received a delivery from the First Wing. They said they'd made some kind of agreement with you about contents of a ship? Alex said he'd talk to you about it but there wasn't any room in his cargo bay right then so I took them." "What are you talking about?" You ask her, wondering what she's getting at. She holds up a pad. "Valuable cargo found aboard Iratar Special Kavarian attack cruiser. Sixty Mark 40 SP torpedoes, and twenty Mark 41 SP Torps. Compliments of the First Attack Wing. PS these new K Types the Kavarians traded us are going to let us kick your ass on convoy escort duty. Their words not mine, so good luck for them I guess?"
>>20231163"I want to watch them try to do what we did right now. If you get what I mean"
In the last leg of the run you're fired on by a pair of odd ships. One type of frigate you've seen before launching missiles at you for all the good that does. The other uses a pair of frigate engine banks mounted in two pods with a single heavy phase cannon built into the front of the spare that connects to two. Both are fast enough to keep away from your heavier fire and soon retreat. The Navigator ship stops just outside the mine shell while the rest of the convoy proceeds inside. Once the convoy ships are all safe and any squadron problems are dealt with you send a message to the Knight Commander that you need to meet with her as soon as possible and that its urgent. "So, is this problem something the we want to know about?" Kavos asks you as you head for the shuttle. You grab your shoulder shield while on the way. At some point you're going to get that new uniform and if you have to wait long enough to see the Commander you might just grab a dress uniform from the on board stocks. "No. The less people that know about this problem the better Chief." You throw him a salute as the shuttle door closes.
>>20231063Wait until you see the repair bill. >>20231187"If you mean take down a battleship without serious casualties, I sure hope they make a good attempt." Falling asleep. Before I forget again, here, achievement get. Wanted to make this last week but there wasn't time.

A duty uniform can wait. At last you're ushered in. "Reynard, what was so important this it simply couldnt wait?" She asks you. You tell her. The Commander's face remains impassive, not giving any sign of worry the whole time. "I'm glad you decided to tell me this, it confirms some suspicions. While House Posat may be acting as something of a parasite at the moment it is one that we still need. We do not have the numbers necessary to make a grab for territory while Pirates still control two fifths of the Run.What I would prefer to do is either warn them into slowing or halting their offensive operations so that their House may recover more quickly. Inform them we know and begin buying some worlds off them at reduced prices to fund their war effort, or wait until the Run is secured. Once it is safely under control we could negotiate without the same fear of a pirate resurgence."You wait a second for the other shoe to drop."Of course you could still call them out resulting in a mad free for all as they attempt to pay off mercenaries and pull their forces. In the confusion we are sure to lose ground to the Pirates and lengthen our campaign here."
Could our old attack cruiser's point defense guns fire old fashioned nukes? After all, there have been nukular arty rounds. Also if our old attack cruiser is so easy to build why are we not building a knockoffto use and sell?

Although Gae Bolg still sounds terrible to me.>>20234222I'd prefer the option that results in less fighting. As good as this campaing has been for Sonia, every loss we can avoid is worth it.
>>20234222"It is a position I'm conflicted about being in, Commander. I'm not sure what is best for the House, though I've no doubt which choice is best for the men and women under my command. If the House is best served by taking the path that puts my pilots and crews in a needlessly chaotic situation... How do I live with myself if my actions lead to deaths? I understand that combat does and will eventually claim lives, but pulling the rug on Posat would be like loading them with unstable explosives before the fight."
>>20234347Didn't she just say that causing lots of chaos wouldn't serve our house at all?
>>20234366Depends on who you ask?The High Nobles or Intel might think it is a wonderful chance to capture more ships, gain more veteran crews, snag some territory and screw another House.Of course, the ones fighting the war likely don't see it that way.
>>20234347Don't say this.>>20234327As long as they use part of the funds to pay us, the investor they are currently playing financhial games with, back at a suitible rate of intrest ofc.
>>20234283>Could our old attack cruiser's point defense guns fire old fashioned nukesNo, they're a bit too small. >Also if our old attack cruiser is so easy to build why are we not building a knockoffto use and sell? The shipyards back home are optimized for classic House designs, mostly corvettes. One would have to be shut down for retooling and a particular design version decided upon.>Numbers continued to avoid confusion with previous options7) House Possat offensive stops now. They are warned to secure their financial situation and House will pull forces back to territory already captured and begin recovery. They'll begin a controlled sell off of worlds and assets to break even, and will attempt to wind work for Mercenaries through other Houses.8) Slow offensive. Posat keeps some forces on the offensive in the hopes they'll find something worth selling off that will get them out of trouble. They'll attempt to hire out their mercs to other Houses with the exception of those comissioned as privateers. A slow sell off begins. 9) Maintain offensive. While they are made aware they're working with borrowed time their support could be too valuable to cut off now. The serious sell offs and financial actions begin once the Run is secured and the heavy lifting for the region is done. 10) Burn their House down. Mad free for all land grab through the enire Run. With enough warning your House could bring in enough troops and ships from Home territory to assist. 11) Combination of (2, 3, 4 or 5) with (7,8 or 9)
>>20234458Well the only good option is the one that gets us more money and gets us more political power in the House by doing awesome shit.So its either 7 or 9.I personally liked skylark, since it was unassuming yet still fitting.but i have no idea how 15 votes got up there, without someone passing this to his friends with a missive to vote x.I doubt we are 18 ppl + GM (3 skylark votes.)
7 or 8 with 2
>>2023445812) Don't warn them now. (Options 3 or 5) >>2022922813) Other
I'd say option 8 or 9, its not like we have anything to do with the money anyways...
>>20234465I agree with >>20234508. Options 7 or 9, combined with two. But since it will save lives, I'd prefer 9.
If we do 7 or 8, we risk giving the pirates in the area a chance to regroup from the loss of the base we captured. They'll then swarm our FOBs like they did to the previous attempts to clear the run.9, because we need to keep up the offensive's momentum. Posat might even try to up their momentum a bit in an attempt to find something they can sell off.
>>20234591They've lost their primary base, two battleships, several battlecruisers, a medium cruiser and a plethoria of minor ships in the recent fighting.
>>20234591Nine sounds good, but combine it with 2 to make sure we dont end up emptyhanded.
>>20234654That does not mean much considering that we just recently captured a base that was busy building 3 medium cruisers. We don't know if there aren't more like that around, since we kinda cannot recon at the moment.
>>20234671What about the fact that their attacks on the convoys do not seem particularly organised? The fact that there were two seperate ambushes, one of which was pretty pathetic, instead of one larger one seems to indicate they are still disorganized. Plus how will them pulling back to the FOB make it more vunerable?
>>20234508So far seeing a preference for 9.Sure hope I wont have to start up another survey for it but I might."Take a day or two to decide." The Commander tells you. "I'll contact House Posat about a potential business deal and ask them to send a representative out with one of the convoys in two or three days. In the meantime I'm pulling Third Wing from convoy escort after the next run. We have enemy ships jamming the surrounding areas and its interfering with our ability to communicate with our allies. Kindly do something about it." You offer her a salute then head out. It's still another 24 hours until the 3rd wings third squadron does their escort and returns. Maybe you could see about that duty uniform? You have more than enough money to have something custom made. Did you want something closer to your dress uniform, something more utilitarian or include the armored jumpsuit with it?
>>20234714With a strong preference for combining it with 2
>>20234702Well, they might still be in the process of reorganizing and Posat stopping would allow them the chance for breathing they need. Keep in mind that Posats Mercs are likely the only ones who are at the moment putting the heat on the pirates since our forces are busy protecting bases and convois. Also, i want to be done with the Smugglers Run already so we can get our new Command.
>>20234714I think we don't really need to lounge around in something looking like a dress uniform on our ship. Doesn't mean it can't look impressive or a bit fance, but considering we've still got a bounty on our head, it should definitely include some additional protection.
>>20234714I'd say go for utilitarian, though it shouldn't look completely derp if possible. We have our dress uniform for looking fabulous.Don't include the jumpsuit, i think running around in armor the whole day might be not comfortable.
>>20234714lets get a standard duty uniform fitted to us for comfort for now. Something custom can wait, it is a duty uniform after all.>>20234654yes, they've lost those ships just to actions our squadron participated in.And they are -still- coming.
>>20234714Send out a patrol around the sectors near the base to emplace that sensor net. Get basic uniform, we can do fancy Later
>>20234753Yep, in convoy interception attempts, which are costing them large numbers of ships. Did we mention to the commander about the reverse engeenering possiblilties in the assult convertee we captured?
Oh well, in that case i swing my vote from utilitarian to a fitted standard. Its not like we need to look fancy.
You have your standard duty uniform updated with appropriate markings and look into available intel on the surrounding sectors. There isnt too much. Most of the cloaked ships in the area are helping to track the Medium Carrier which is still running around. Locations where the ship has shown up are indicated with red question marks. Select what sectors you want to scan down once the rest of the Wing has returned. Do you want to operate as a full squadron or split up into flights like before? If so which will you accompany?Roll 1d100 for each sector you plan to recon.
rolled 48 = 48>>20234931>Do you want to operate as a full squadron or split up into flights like before2 flights per sector. Just in case we run into something dangerous.>If so which will you accompany? The one that's weaker, or if they're roughly the same strength, the one that's worse at running away.>SectorsLet's scan the sectors around the station first.>Rolls.First roll.
Oh, did you want the mass drivers moved from the Bittenfeld to your new ship, or leave them there? You have time. Also, heading out for work soon in case I dont end up posting again.
rolled 12 = 12>>20234948If they weren't too expensive, we should probably simply buy new ones for the ship_name_here.>>202349472nd roll.
rolled 90, 76, 39 = 205I think we should operate in a squadron for now. Too much yellow around here. I say we check the hex south of the base, and from there go to the ??? closest to our convoi route.
rolled 43 = 43>>20234962Third roll.
rolled 10 = 10>>202349784th roll.
rolled 87 = 87>>20234985Last roll. Damn, those were terrible.
>>20234963I personally think this is a great plan. It clears a side of our supply line, which should give us warning of enemy ships by either detection or someone saying "hey, that sector's sensors haven't given their hourly report" in the event of jamming.
>>20234963I can get behind that
>>20235048Here's how I see it.... it provide maximum coverage of the run while being one of the fastest option
>>20235084Not bad, but i think we might want to clear the topside of our supplyroute, too. Should decrease the possibility of ambushes (even if they weren't that effective up until now)
>>20235084I'd say going out of our way to check the old locations of the carrier isn't worth it in the case of the hexagon marked 16.And I'd suggest we should secure the yellow hexagons around the station and supply route first as well.
>>20235097>>20235103Sorry, I thought the ?? were where the Jamming ship were thought to be.Here's the modified version, secure the base surrounding then the run with a side trip to look for the carrier
>>20235103I'd also suggest securing that ship graveyard close to our FOB that still seems to be under enemy control.
>>20235146I think we could still use hex 4 to get the ???, its still adjacent to an ambush position. Otherwise this looks good.
>>20235162named it 3.5 it totally went out of my mind when modifying it
>>20235185and forgot my picture...
>>20235154You are right, we need to do that. We still need to loot some starfighters.
On break for just a minute. You guys seem to have things well planned out. Yes the ?? are sighted locations of the Carrier, should have stuck those 2 sentences together.>>20235154>>20235235>Graveyard near FOB The system is more or less under control. Houses Posat and Jerik-Dremine hold the largest salvage base in the system, which controls most of the trade out system. The other asteroid bases while smaller are heavily armed and would take an extended period to crack. Command's current plan is to wait them out as they'll need to open trade with the main base soon. Representatives from the newly co-opted base have already been sent to negotiate.
>>20237310Ah, okay. In that case I'm more than fine with ignoring the graveyard for now.
