You aren't one of those no life snailposters are you anon?
You're not wasting precious paper and ink from your monastery just to draw snails over and over again, are you?
>>
Is this the origin of shitposting?
>>
Ok /tg/, let's make a setting based on the manuscript margins.
>>
>>62531125
>Scripts and Snails

I can dig it
>>
>>62531125
You aren't truly considered a knight until you've successful completed your first snail hunt. A time honored and joyous coming of age tradition within the kingdom.
>>
But who will slay the tuck-in bird?
>>
>>62531158
You aren't truly considered a good boy until you've successfully murdered you're mount's brother. A time honored and joyous coming of age tradition within the kingdom.
>>
>>62531158
The dire snail is a rare but fearsome beast, inhabiting only the most dangerous of swamps, damp caves, and dark dank places
Aside from being hard to kill it's meat is used in the ceremony after the hunt, and it's shells are used to be made into instruments
>>
Is this the fate of those knights who fail in their first hunt?
>>
>>62531227
Honestly I think the idea of the snail hunt being more akin to clubbing baby seals, but being taken twice as seriously, more fitting to the weird nature of the manuscripts than the snails actually being any sort of threat.

>>62531220
Okay. I get I lack a lot of context from my modern perspective, but what in the actual literal fuck is this.
>>
>>62531258
Good point

Also, these were basically the middle age equivalent of the monks working for hours doing nothing but writing, then basically drawing joke images afterwards in their downtime
>>
>>62531258
>more akin to clubbing baby seals
I concur with this anon as it will make the casualty rates embarrassingly high ( if only 1-2%).
Maybe the peasants are fearful of the snails though, and the knights can make themselves look impressive (without putting themselves in any real danger) by clearing them.

>>
>>62531337
>Only by slaying a snail and proving your metaphorical manhood, are you then allowed to claim it in the more literal sense.
>>
>>62531343
What if the snails are harmless beasts that all the peasants are fearful of and the rabbits are the real threat - ignored by the knights out of fear.
>>
It's literally just bored monks doodling in the margins of their notebooks. It's like I'm back in school.
>>
>>62531337

go harvest a tree of dicks is pretty funky sounding.
>>
>>62531343
Well, rabbits are obviously a major race in this setting. Seem fairly savage, but are probably smarter than they look based on all those fancy weapons
>>
>>62531373
Yeah the first time you're told about it but when you live in Rooksildoom and it's your staple food, the joke goes a little stale.
>>

Clearly whatever is happening there is between the rabbits and the dogs.

Wasn't all this basically because monks also did a bunch of gardening, and thus fucking hated those bastard snails eating their cabbage and rabbits digging up their turnips, so they doodled little fights between the monks as knights and the snails. Also dogs going after the rabbits and it became a monk meme.

Yeah I think that part was meant to be ironic and funny.
Instead of the humans hunting the rabbits, it's the rabbits going after the humans.
It's simple, but amusing.
