It is mostly an intuitive perception so it's not set in stone and there are no "rules" to it, but in general the above guidelines suffice and oozes will often admire one another's unique flavor of slortitude, if cohorts, or display subconscious submission towards enemies who are more slortitudinous than themselves.

The legendary bridge which once connected earth to the Garden of Plenty, a place in Halfling mythology where food to feed all the peoples of the world grew and to which every creature traveled daily to eat their fill. The bridge was severed by the gods after Halflingkind stole the secret of pipeweed (blowing smoke having been the exclusive province of the gods), and the races of the world nearly starved until the great Halfling hero Donnel Greenthumb completed the Ten Trials and discovered the secret of agriculture.

>Hlehmaor

Literally "Helm's oar," in the pidgin tongue of a tribe of island-dwellers whose home was first discovered by a boat of warriors sworn to the service of the god Helm, blown far off-course while sailing to battle. Believing the storm which brought them to the island was divine providence, the soldiers subjugated the locals and imposed their religion by force, after more peaceful methods of conversion met little success. A Hlehmaor is the locals' word for a sword, and springs from the legend that their oppressors sailed to their island on a boat made of shields rowing swords for oars.
