Cedric and Elliezabella answer a call about troubles in the facility where the goblins are being kept, and Ellie stores the empty coffee cups in a (evidence) plastic bag meanwhile.

"You know, those are not trash bags"
"It is probably alright? It's just so the coffee doesn't spills inside the car. I've been using the same bag for a while. Its practical since it has this pressure seal."
"Ah.. actually I think there's bags like that for sale. Let's get a few next time we go to the super."
"Alright. What do you think this call is about?" -Ellie stores the bag with the cups inside the glove compartment.
"Probably trouble with the media stepping over the line, or maybe protestors of some kind? Stuff the national guard would look bad dealing with, nothing dire."

Ellie looks at him for a bit, then nods.

"Got it. Having soldiers pushing back reporters would be bad, right?"
"Indeed. Maybe its PETA again? Do goblins count as animals or people?"
"...to be honest, I think most would say they're monsters..."
"Isn't that a bit over the top?" -Cedric turns around and goes into the main avenue as they head towards the site outside of town.
"I told you. When there's enough of them, it is not rare for them to attack people and raid farms and even small villages."
"Well, aren't they just savages? but calling them monsters is a bit..."

As they arrive at the scene, they see...

"I told you, many think of them as monsters. I mean, I know you don't understand, but many people have lost family to goblin raids. Of course, not among the people born on this world."

They descend from the car and head over to the elves. Of course, they see them arrive, and some of them look a bit nervous, or embarrased, but most of them still look quite upset.

One of the elven elders walks over to meet Cedric and Ellie.

"Elliezabella"
"Sir, what is going on here?"
"You should know, right? the people here has no idea of what goblins are like. We are asking that they hand them over to us."
"I don't think that is going to work." -she looks at Cedric
"Sir, you can't take justice into your own hands. and besides, these goblins have probably never done anything to you."
"Ah... you can't understand. If we let them stay and multiply, they will definitively harm the town. Definitively"

The elder seems to think about it for a bit, then nods.

"Alright guys, let's go home and visit the mayor in the morning, then."
"That is the right decision, sir"

The elves start going home, and it feels as if they were just taking their pets for a walk, now.

"Ellie, what just happened?"
"What do you mean?" -she wiggles her ears as she looks at us
"I thought they had come for blood?"
"I explained them that they had to follow the local laws, so instead they will try and talk to the mayor and the media."
"Just like that?"
"Why? what did you expect?"
"Well, usually.... mobs are harder to deal with than just that..."
"But, these people are like my family."
"Alright"

Cedric gives her a light kiss, and pats her head once, then sighs.

"I guess we should call the sergeant and let him know how it turned out."
"Alright."
"So, goblins are this much of a problem, then"
"Yeah... they really are."
"Let's hope it really comes down to nature versus nurture. Ah, its your turn to use the radio."

Ellie picks up the radio and turns it on with some glee, then reports to the sergeant. Once that is done with, we can go back to our normal patrol, even if we'll have to fill a report later.

"Ah, can we go by the supermerket before going back home?" -Ellie is looking through her phone.

She's really acclimated, hasn't she?

"Sure, what do we need?"
"I was hoping for some baby food."

Cedric almost crashes the car, then he quickly parks and grabs Ellie's shoulders.

"What, wait, why!?"
"For Stella, of course."
"Ah.." -he just sort of deflates- "...she eats puppy food, not baby food."
"Puppy food, ok."
"Let's go to leave the car at the station, it's about time our shift ends."

There's a few minutes quiet while Ellie just sits there

Cedric feels like his heart just flew out of his mouth. Again, he parks the car and takes a breath.

"Ellie, please don't do that."
"What?"
"Ahh... nevermind. Do you want to have a child?"
"Well, I am a bit worried, wouldn't I have to stop being a cop?"
"You'd have a license for like, a year, I think."
"That's not a lot of time, what about after that?"
"Ah... a nanny, I guess? can we talk about this when we get back home?"

They finally reach the station and park the car, then dress back into their civvies before writing the reports for the day, and going to Cedric's truck.

"Alright, so, puppy food, right?"
"And sealed bags."
"Right, and sealed bags... did you throw the coffee cups to the garbage yet?"
"Yes."
"Alright."

By now, people doesn't even stare all that much when Ellie goes around town anymore.

Of course, they still do a double take on her, but that is usually all there is to it.

"Why are there so many brands...?"
"People like to spend money on their pets." -says Cedric as he holds a bag of dog food- "Do you think it would be better to buy a larger bag?"
"I would get bored if I was eating the same food for too long, no matter how tasty it was. "
"Alright, so five smaller bags, and we can get different stuff when we come again?"
"Sounds good... can't she just eat the same as us?"
"It wouldn't be as healthy--- I think."
"Alright, then"

Of course, we do buy proper groceries and things for ourselves. And hermetic, re-utilizable plastic bags.

As we get back home, Stella is whining and crying on the other side of the door, waiting for us so she can greet us.

"Yes yes, baby, daddy and mommy are here!" -says Ellie while we open the door

As soon as the door is open, the puppy starts trying to climb unto us... well, more like it wants to be lifted and hugged, but with the grocery bags on our arms, that's unlikely.

So, Ellie calls the elder over the phone... the elder seems happy to have them over, so they will have to leave in an hour or so.

For now, Ellie is trying out the puppy food with Stella. To be more accurate, she's pouring a little bit on her hands and letting Stella try it out one at the time.

"Should we dress nice, then?"
"Why?"
"We are going to dine out, right?"
"Is that normal?"
"It is considered polite"
"I guess it's fine? but don't dress too much, wouldn't want to make him think we are flaunting anything."
"On a cop's salary? I doubt it."

So, we dress up just a little before going over. Perhaps we shouldnt have worried, since we ARE driving a 25+ years old truck.

By the way, the big roller on the garden acts like a big old family dog around Ellie. Well, they all do, really. After all, they are all used to her within her tribe.

They likely attacked towns in their old world to survive, not out of malice. They may not have had the expertise to gather resources themselves, so they taken it from those than did - in this world that isn't a problem.
For that reason, I think simple education on how this world works, demonstrating the abundances of resources and what they can do to contribute is preferable to treating them like scum just because the other new race says they deserve it.
